WERQ: Dakota Fanning in Elie Saab Couture

Posted on November 13, 2012

Baby sister still has a ways to go on her style evolution, but Miss Dakota has ARRIVED, bitches.

Dakota Fanning attends ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ World Premiere in an Elie Saab couture gown paired with a Ferragamo clutch.

Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture Collection/Model: Kasia Struss (WOMEN)

Personal best? Yes, we think so. Personal best.

That is a gorgeous dress and the color looks amazing on her. We’re thinking the new hair color is a shade or two too dark for her coloring, but it’s a massive improvement on the ghostly look she’s been sporting for years now. Her eyes pop like they’ve never popped before. You WERQ your grownup self, little girl! Uncle snaps!

When I first saw this, I immediately wondered what you two would think.  Personally, I love it all.

    • CPK1

wow. The color of the dress, the hair color, the make-up. She looks polished but still edgy and young. Love it!

    • nancylee61

I didn’t even recognize her!! She looks so different with darker hair! I don’t know what I think.

The dress is gorgeous on her, though.

      • BeeBeauNYC

I absolutely did not recognize her, and I didn’t believe it was actually her until about the last picture. Agreed, she looks crazy fabulous.

    • Lisa Dugan

Love it.  The lipstick shade is not my fave but otherwise beautiful. I really like the hair.

      • Sobaika

It looks like two different shades, I guess depending on the camera flash or lighting. Is anyone else seeing a difference or just me? I prefer how it looks in her first photo as opposed to the second.

        • RebeccaKW

Yes, in a couple it looks more bright pink (which doesn’t look good on her, at least not here) and in a couple other it’s much deeper.  2nd from the bottom looks good. 2nd from the top, not so much.

          Also LOVING the hair.

    • Call me Bee

      Very well done, m’dear!

    • shirab

Love this, but you’re right that the hair is a touch too dark. Also, posture! Please! Shoulders back!

      • http://twitter.com/andsheewas Andsheewas

Yes. I want her to relax her shoulders and take a deep breath.

        • telophase

I think she’s trying to keep the straps from falling off her shoulders.

      • 3boysful

Hate to say I concur, because now I sound like my mother.

    • ChaCha_70

Agreed. Plus, I love her nail polish color! It’s beautiful and unexpected with the dress. And that dress, what a gorgeous color. Want!

    • Mismarker

Love the darker hair and the color of that dress.  Wow!

    • ChiliP

This dress is exquisite on her- she needs to wear jewel tones more often. I’m glad to see more and more starlets sporting their creamy, natural skin color. She looks so beautiful!

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I hardly recognized her with the dark hair but it does look really nice.  Beautiful dress.  “Uncle Snaps”…….you guys crack me up.

    • leave_Blake_alone

This is pretty good, but far from werq-worthy.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Agreed. Her face is too pink, as in, too much blush and the lip color is all wrong.  Definitely and improvement though.

        • j_anson

Yes, to me it’s the makeup that’s wrong, not the shade of hair color.

      • gabbilevy

She might finally earn a WERQ if she’d ever stand up straight. Girl has awful posture.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=559324312 Pablo Ulloa

for me the hair styling is like a -99 of the overall look. Yeah, gorgeous dress and color on her but if you got the hair THAT wrong you can’t say that this is a werq.

    • anotherkate

I can’t tell what her makeup actually looks like, since it looks weirdly neon-rose in every other shot–do we think there was some weird spotlight? Even her eyes look pink in the second shot, but the close-up looks perfect.

      Also, love that dress, child.

      • MilaXX

Like a double case of conjunctivitis. Horrible makeup job.

        • j_anson

          Word.

        • Kristin McNamara

Glad I scrolled to see if anyone had said this yet… Surprised she got the WERQ with the much-loathed “conjunctivitis” jab just begging for TLo to make it!

      • Sobaika

I think it has something to do with camera flashes or maybe how far away they photographer was standing away from her. But yes, there is something funny going on with her makeup coloring.

    • StellaZafella

Maggie Gyllenhall take note…THIS is how you do it.

    • Ozski

PERFECT shade of teal to go with those baby blues. I love her as a brunette too.

    • luciaphile

I love the dress, but her posture is terrible.

      • Judy_J

I agree.  The mom in me wants to tell her to stand up straight.

    • mhleta

The dress on the model looks like a deeper teal, which I like even better, but it could just be the lighting. DF looks beautiful and her eyes really do pop!

    • MilaXX

I still think she needs a hair cut and/or new style. The makeup looks horrid! From the neck down she looks good, but the hair and makeup is a big fail.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

My eyes are the same color as hers. I am immediately ashamed of my heather grey cowl-neck sweater. I must get dusty teal something-or other! Wow she looks good!

    • Judy_J

I love that dress.  It doesn’t appear to have the slit skirt shown on the runway, but if it does, I’m proud of her for not sticking her leg out, as so many do on the RC.

    • VioletFem

The darker hair looks amazing on her, I wasn’t sure that she could pull it off but it really brings out her eyes. That dress is gorgeous, and works so well against her skin tone. Very well done!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Great dress for her, haircolor is a little wonky – why are the pieces around the face so brassy? And POSTURE. Someone should take aside so many stars and teach them to lower their shoulders.

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

that hair is a good color for her. should have gone this way long ago. i just hate the hairstyle. you are not in elementary school, dakota. no flippy bullshit, please.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Vienna-Marriott/100001636120960 Vienna Marriott

Hate.  Especially her pose.  Stand up straight or learn how to model.  If I were a designer, I’d be angry that she made the long, lean column of the gown look like a melting ice sculpture.  Stand up straight!!!

    • TheLaurenJean

That is one cheap looking prom dress. Poor thing looks paralyzed with fear as well. The hair color is masterfully done, I will give her that, but everything else? No, no no.

      • ChiliP

This is what you consider a cheap looking prom dress? I’m ashamed to show you what I wore to my prom, then.

    • bertkeeter

A tad mature? Also…please girls…loosen up with that PARIS HILTON posing!

    • Jennifer Coleman

She looks very pretty and the color of the dress is gorgeous, but it seems like the dress is wearing her. Her posture says she does not own this look yet. I totally agree that her hair color should be lightened. All this said, she is fully in another sartorial class than her sister now.

    • amaranth16

Dress is lovely, but I hate her makeup.  Would love a gold/taupe eyeshadow closer to the color on her nails, maybe with a coral lip.

    • j_anson

Her eyes pop like CRAZY EYES. I really like the rest of it, though. I like the dark hair; I think it’s her makeup she hasn’t got down yet.

    • Janet B

The lipstick color reminds me of the little lipstick samples Avon gave out in the early 70’s.

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

What is her makeup doing? Her lip color looks highlighter pink in one shot and rose in the next. The dress is lovely.

    • Little_Olive

If I had to pick on something it’d be the lipstick. But this is a WERK if there ever has been one.

Love her in darker hair. Too bad her sister wanted in on it too but had second thoughts after her roots were done.

    • Eva_baby

The dress may be a WERQ, but that pose looks like she is apologizing for something.

    • In_Stitches

I wish she’d done something with her hair.  It looks a little too…Sunday school.  Dress is gorgeous though.

    • lehen

she looks AMAZING!!  that lipstick was the perfect choice to keep it edgy and “her.”  LOVE IT ALL.

    • MaryanneGirl

      Hahaha, “uncle snaps”.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      Lovely again.

    • http://twitter.com/tangodiva Tanya Wade

There’s always a lot of talk about “eyes matching perfectly,” but damn if big sis didn’t nail it. Wowza, she is killing it. I would like an updo, but that’s just nitpicking.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/57DSN5XCR5VONZ2JUMQ5M6EF54 Sabrina

I prefer the belt run under the drape, as it is on the model.  It really shows off the design. Otherwise, very nice!

    • Tatiana Luján

There is something very off with that makeup and her hairdo isn’t doing right things for her face shape. But the dress is gorgeous, looks better on her than on the model, and I like her new hair color.

    • marilyn

It is great until you really look at it.  The sheer panels on the side take it to Tacky-Land

    • http://twitter.com/dollsaga Dollsaga

beautiful shades.  but the girl needs to learn how to pose like a model:  please,  throw your  shoulders back !

    • stagmania

Gotta disagree with this one. I like the dress color, but something about the rest isn’t working for me. And I hate the makeup.

    • kelsita421

I think we all needed this. Love!

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I’ll give her a werq just for ditching the ghost hair!

    • MzzPants

Now I’ll be able to tell her from her sister.  Gorgeous look for her.  There aren’t enough brunette, blue eyed beauties in Hollywood.

    • SapphoPoet

Gorgeous. I love that shade of teal; had to restrain myself this week from buying yet another teal sweater.

    • Belvane

She looks beautiful, but I’d like the dress better without the belt. It spoils the effect of the sparkly lace.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000088447181 Sam Smith

I like everything except the lipstick.  As a pale blonde myself, these types of hair color transformations are exciting.  Would I ever go dark like this, would my eyes pop like this??  Would my husband recognize me?

      • janierainie

I wouldn’t have known it was her if TLo hadn’t said. She really looks different.

    • f_yeah_marie

I don’t like her makeup but the gown looks great on her.

    • SewingSiren

I still can’t tell them apart.

    • Lisa Kramp

Agree that the hair color’s a little dark for her, but that’s the only fault I can find with this look. Young, fresh and perfectly pretty.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

      ehn.

    • decormaven

Something about the lip and nail color isn’t firing (for me), but that’s a gorgeous shade of fabric on her. Interested to see what she wears next on the RC with this new hair color.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

She looks gorgeous! Just about perfect! I hate that she always looks a little uncomfortable, though.

    • Lilithcat

The dress is great – gorgeous color.

On the “nay” side:  too much rouge, and the lipstick is wrong.  And with a dress like that, she should wear her hair up.  This ‘do is just plain sloppy,

    • TieDye64

She’d look crazy amazing if her makeup was more subtle. Love the hair, though it’s a tad dark as you said. The dress is perfect her.

    • margaret meyers

Someone needs to do a Bio-pic of Lillian Gish and get this girl working

    • Sarah Thomas

Is she angling to play Marion Cotillard’s daughter in something?

    • newtonGOTbeaned

Her hair-style is strange and her makeup looks crazy. I just watched The Runaways, so I know she can rock a lot of makeup. I think I would like the dress if the hair weren’t so distracting. But yay colors!

    • Kathy_Marlow

      LOVE it…she looks amazing!

    • Billie_Dawn

Pretty dress, absolutely deranged make-up. That last shot makes it look like she ran a 10K before the premiere.

    • Lilak

Fabric in the teal family has always struck me as problematic: All the other tones in the look need to align almost perfectly for it to work.

While the gown certainly gives Miss Fanning’s eyes extra impact, her whiter shade of pale skin makes the teal collapse with a sigh into meh (the model’s tan keeps the teal happening).  And I’m sure the particular shade of dark hair she’s sporting isn’t helping.

I’d call this well-intentioned, maybe even a noble effort, but not nearly a PB.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

the colour is absolutely amaazing on her! like-not-love the dress otherwise.
the new hair colour looks good, although i think a shade more auburn would have been even nicer.
the eye shadow does make her eyes pop, but it also looks a little freaky to me. her posture could use work.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

Fabulous! And In Your Face Mz Kristen Stewart! See-through can be beautiful and classy.

    • MarissaLG

I’m not a huge fan of the dark hair but everything else looks lovely.

    • granddelusion

I am so tired of being called a bitch. I’ve done nothing to earn that sobriquet. As for the dress, it is lovely. Not loving the transparent side panels or the lipstick color.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

And we’re getting tired of your constant negativity and complaining.

    • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

If by ‘arrived’ you mean ‘at middle age’, then sure. This isn’t her gown. This is a gown for someone thirty years older than her.

    • nannypoo

I love the new hair color and I love the dress on her. She’s maybe a little too pink in the face, but the whole look is really very pretty. And she looks like she knows it.

    • SorayaS

I cannot sign off on a WERQ when she is sporting that consumptive eye make up. And the lipstick is a little too pink.

Hair and dress are gorgeous though and with great accessories.

    • librarygrrl64

I like how she’s wearing the belt. I understand what they were going for on the runway look, but this works much better on her. That color is stunning with her new hair.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She needs to stop the adolescent hunch.  Drop those damn shoulders and lengthen that pretty neck.  I think all the girls her age do it.  She has such lovely skin and the color of that dress is perfect to highlight this.

    • guest2visits

Wow – her eyes! Even her complexion has a glow; a deeper hair color really brings out her pretty features.
I love Elie Saab and I think this is very pretty on Dakota.   I just want to see her relax abit, shoulders down!

    • jmorino08

I don’t like the eye makeup at all, especially with that lip color. But everything else is great! Love the darker hair!

    • zbkat

She has such a “turn of the century” face. The century before this last one. She would be perfect as Lillian Gish in a biopic. Not thrilled with the darkness of the hair, but at least it’s not purply gray.

    • MK03

Holy shit, she’s unrecognizable. But you can’t deny that she looks incredible.

    • DesertDweller79

I love it!  Love the color on her.  Her darker hair is so interesting.

    • kikisayshi

LOVE the hair! It opens up many more “DO”s for her wardrobe – she may not look so washed out in all those powder pinks she likes to wear.

    • http://onionjam.tumblr.com SkipperJane

My totally random – but I believe warranted – recommendation would be additional dye or pencil to the eyebrows.  She has strong eyebrows, but they are too light.  If they were a bit darker, she’d have an Audrey Hepburn thing going on.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

I think her normal blonde would still work with this dress, but agree that darker hair makes her look less ghostly and helps her eyes pop. Also agree the hair is too dark.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bob-Sponge/100000465550991 Bob Sponge

I didn’t recognize her. The dress is just OK, and her makeup scares me.

    • UptownNippy

She has grown into a lovely young lady, good for her.

I agree, a little darker eyebrow would be a thought.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VW5XHSH45FBZ2ZEZJARYHILIZQ Leah

Really? I kinda really hate it. I mean it’s not awful, but she’s unrecognisable in a not good way. Hate the hair. The colour of the dress really doesn’t suit her……Yikes.

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

I think the new color is a bit too red for her coloring. And makeup gives her crazy eyes. But the dress is lovely, and the color is gorgeous.

    • http://twitter.com/miamoreno_ Mia

      ooo! Stunning! I love it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Stone/100001328135240 Mary Stone

She’s pulling off orange eyeshadow without looking freakish, that alone is worthy of snaps of respect.  Color is your friend dear, and the new haircolor will settle into something warm and lovely given time.  The teal on her is beautiful, I didn’t even mind the cutout with lace overlay on the side, looks elegant rather than cheap/tacky

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

The haircolor and especially the dress color make her eyes POP! Snaps!

    • KELLEYKAT

I do like the change to the darker hair…She just looks like she is not confident about the change.  She needs lessons from Hailee and Abigail on “owning” your look.  She has been around so long you wouldn’t expect her to be so insecure looking all the time.

    • tired_mommy

Anyone else see the resemblance to Jodie Foster? She really transformed herself!

    • Elleachaudaucul

Full marks for making such a dramatic departure from her usual look, but the dress itself really leaves me cold.

    • TSkot

She still looks like she’s playing “grown-up.”  Not a werq until she has the right attitude.

    • http://TheDoseofReality.com/ The Dose of Reality

Love it…and I LOVE her new hair!!! Beautiful!

    • Trisha26

      Pretty.

    • tereliz

      Holy. Shit. Color.

She should have gone brunette long ago. Look at her eyes pop!

    • http://www.tipsfornaturalbeauty.com/ Dima Al Mahsiri

I love the dress, it fits her perfectly .

    • http://www.tipsfornaturalbeauty.com/ Dima Al Mahsiri

I love the dress, it fits her perfectly

    • http://www.tipsfornaturalbeauty.com/ Dima Al Mahsiri

She has become a real lady :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/tim.barnes.1671897 Tim Barnes

i think she’s beautiful in anything she wears or whatever color her  hair is….she just plain outstanding……and am proud to say that i am a very dedicated fan of hers….ever since i saw her in i am sam…she was soooooo good in that movie and all of her other movies…she’s grown into a beautiful sexy extremely talented young woman…and am proud to say that i’ve watched it happen…i love you dakota fanning keep up the great work and anything you wear or whatever color your hair is it’s still you and you are the very best
