Vogue Korea: Bewitch The Dark

Posted on November 16, 2012

Darlings, it’s time to close out the week with something pretty. And who better to turn to than Vogue Korea? They’ve never let us down before. Sure, we’re a couple weeks late on the witchy theme, but when it’s as darkly beautiful as this, who can complain? Not us.

Enjoy, kittens.

Now if only the scarecrow were holding the rake, we could call it *Korean Gothic*.

       That comment cracked me up!

      • Melvis Velour

Or as my friend SaWon would say “…ah white boy, you clack me up!”

Seriously, this is just stunning…just left me speechless

  • StellaZafella

The last shot evokes “Christina’s World” as if painted by Magrite or Goeth instead of Wyeth.

    • Jeaniy02

I was thinking the exact same thing!

    • TieDye64

Yes, I love that they did that? Rather wonderful, I think.

Seriously stunningly beautiful models, clothing and photographs.

  • MilaXX

I fully expected to not like this, yet I find it very pretty albeit dark.

Every time you post these I feel like I should get a subscription to this one version of Vogue.  Haute Witchure?  YES.  PLEASE.

    • quiltrx

If I could convince myself over $100 a year was a reasonable expense for a subscription, I would have subscribed long ago.  SO pretty.

      • DeborahJozayt

You can always ask if your library will subscribe for it. That way everyone can share in the beauty!

  • zenobar

The photo with the magenta coat and the crows – so, so perfect.

  • SewingSiren

I’m seriously going to go out and make a skeleton scarecrow for my garden. Right now!

  • Sara__B

Beautiful and creepy, in the very best way.

  • http://twitter.com/pattylapatty pattycupcake

    come to the spooky.

  • vluong

Is it me or does some of these pieces remind you of Chris March’s Project Runway Collection?

  • Louise Bryan

Clearly the Halloween theme was delayed due to Superstorm Sandy.

  • nannypoo

I love this. The model is really beautiful.

  • ghopping

Wait, I’ve seen this before… same set and same props… where???

  • quiltrx

So pretty and cool!  I think the seated shot with all the crosses is my favorite.  High fashion *should* be a fantasy, IMO, and I love that this fantasy is so delightfully dark.

  • Celandine1

Vogue Korea always seems too hit it out of the park don’t they. Gorgeous.

  • Winter_White

Strange, very beautiful.  (Just like many Korean movies.  Which tend to range from unsettling to ultra-violent, but are so stylish…gorgeous art-direction and cinematography.)

  • DCSheehan

Moody. And the clothes look fantastic. I want that pink coat!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/BJTY6KY7LOR7MDOD6QCZUC3VVI Donna Tabor

    Beautiful, indeed.

But aren’t there a lot of hairy and furry things in this piece?

  • UptownNippy

Love it.  The mood the arrangement the tone the clothes the model…perfection

  • decormaven

The next to last shot: that gal is bringing it. Brava!

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I would never in a million years have thought to style those hairy muppet coats like this but it works so well. These Vogue Korea people are just geniuses.

    • hac51

No kidding.  That coat in that last shot could look so ridiculous, but the way they styled and shot it, the model looks like a fallen leaf instead of a Muppet.  Awesome.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Seriously, how much would it take to get this editorial crew over here?  Maybe just an exchange program…

Really neat.  I love the shot with the flying crows.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Love the lighting and the clouds.

  • Pants_are_a_must

I just love Vogue Korea, y’all.

  • MK03

That scarecrow is pure Turnip Head. Someone on their staff must be a Miyazaki fan…

  • KSpence

Any idea what the location of the shoot was?

  • Judy_J

Oh, Vogue Korea….keep on doing what you do best.

Even that damn rake with its flecks of green is beautiful!
