Who needs a drink right now? We do, darlings! And so do you, even if it’s just a mineral water or Diet Coke. You deserve a night of fabulosity, don’t you?

Duck & Waffle Bar, Heron Tower, London

Fabulous! But bring a cushion, because we don’t plan on leaving until the wee hours of the morning and those chairs don’t look very comfortable.

Guest judges Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra with Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and Carolyn Murphy.

This week, the show abandons its usual format and forces the designers to engage in a little vandalism instead.

Spoiler: Suede wins.

Oh, whatevs. We’re blogging out of inertia at this point. Like RuPaul’s Drag Race, this All-Star season is decidedly dull. But let’s all yell at our TV screens anyway.

The promo video shows essentially nothing, so I don’t know what to expect.  Guess I’ll watch anyway.  Gin and tonic, barkeep, and keep them coming.

    • SapphoPoet

Wheeee! First TLounge in nine months where I can drink–champagne’s on me!

Feeling soooooo much better, Kittens.I’m back to working full time, and it’s nice to feel productive again. Still have some steroid puffiness and slight lingering neuropathy, but it’s all going away. I’m slated to start radiation next week and had the simulation done where they tattooed me; I asked for a dragonfly, but the tech didn’t think she could manage that. :)

Anyway, will watch the crazy online tomorrow morning.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

As will I my dear. Set me up with that champagne.  So, what is this, a Bear Challenge?  Makeovers for Daddy Bears?

        • Lily-Rygh

I am praying for a Monty Python lumberjack tie-in…

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

If those designers even ATTEMPT to touch those bears….

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I realize I’m insanely late, but I have to ask anyway — is the Bear thing only for gay guys?  Is there a separate term for hetero bears and the women who are into them?

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It certainly started with the confines of the Gay Community, but I rather suspect it has broadened of itself over time. I really have no wisdom about it, though. Other PUFs? Weigh in please?

            • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

It’s one of those gay slang terms, like “drama queen” and “butch,” that’s passing into the mainstream.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

So, the remaining question would whether the phenomenon itself, and not just the verbiage, have mainstreamed as well.

      • Janet B

        Wooohooo!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

           (handing over glass of Champagne)

          • Janet B

Thank you very much, I could use a few tonight.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

M’dear, there is ALWAYS champagne when I’m around. What’s up?

            • Janet B

Long day of teen drama (and it’s not even 5pm).

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

oh Lordy, Lordy. (hands over fresh bottle)

            • Call me Bee

The nice thing about teens is, they (eventually) grow up.  Have plenty of champagne till that happens.  Worked for me!

            • Janet B

Thanks for the encouragement.  Just when I figure out how to live with one stage they’re on to another.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It is our adult payback for what we put our own parents through.  tit for tat.  lol

      • NDC_IPCentral

Congratulations on graduation, sister-in-chemo!  I hope your infusion department nurses made a nice fuss over you.  You deserve every bit of it.  The radiation may be pretty tough, though, as you have the chemo coursing through you, and… it’s radiation, after all.  I’ll be thinking of you and hoping you tolerate it well.  One of the support gals at IP Central underwent a month-long radiation treatment for BCA, and she was very stoic about it, but there was discomfort, blistering and all the rest.  She’s no complainer, but I’ll ask her again about what she experienced and how she dealt with it so that I can pass the received wisdom on to you.

Let me know more about the lessening of your neuropathy over time.  Mine does dial back after a little over two weeks, but it does not disappear before the next dose.  That’s the kicker for me right now, and my doc, as I think I told you, is considering halting my maintenance chemo because of the neuropathy that I’ve developed.  I really think that I can handle it, but, on the other hand (or foot), I don’t want permanently numb tootsies, either.

I’m toasting you, SapphoPoet, and your progress.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Here Here!  From all us Kittens!

        • MilaXX

Toasting you as well. My wish is for all my fellow BK to kick this damned cancer so we can all get rip roaring drunk together.

        • SapphoPoet

Thank you, NDC. I’ve been thinking of you on your maintenance cycle and hoping the neuropathy was lessening. I have to say, it’s worse in my toes than in my hands. Although today wasn’t all that good; I had some fries and lunch and dropped the whole carton all over the floor and then I dropped my ice tea. But the neuropathy has definitely decreased.
I’m very fair so I expect my skin will not like the radiation. They also told me that I couldn’t wear any kind of bra at any time throughout the treatment period. When I protested (I’m 43, after all, and a D-cup), the nurse said I could wear a sports bra, but definitely no underwire. Sigh.

          • NDC_IPCentral

Honey, my neuropathy is, so far, confined to the feet, and I’m just hoping it doesn’t spread, as that will surely be the death knell of the maintenance program.  I’m slogging through Susan Gubar’s  “Memoir of a Debulked Woman” about her dreadful experiences with Stage 3 ovarian cancer, so I’m rather partial to the maintenance chemo to put a real lid on the disease (even though it may well not be truly necessary).

You are going to be so tender that you wouldn’t want an underwire, I’ll bet.

I’m 19 years older than you, you child, you.  My sister-in-law underwent chemo and radiation when she had her Stage 2 recurrence (after Stage 0 ductal carcinoma in situ seven years previously), and the radiation was terribly rough on her.  She suffered bad burns and was ][ this close to needing a skin graft, but dodged it.  Really tough.  And the toll it takes – energy and psyche – was considerable.  She’s doing well now, 4 years later, and she’s been a fabulous source of support and information and encouragement.  So… it’s no cakewalk you have ahead, but I’m with you in spirit, if not in person.

            • SapphoPoet

Thanks for the info; I’ve heard stories that run the gamut from what your sister-in-law went through (which sounds horrific) to that it’s a cakewalk. So we’ll see how I do. I’m frantically trying to get Christmas stuff done now, in case I start not to feel well later on. So, onward…

            • Winter_White

Sending you loving up up up vibes.

            • Peeve

Just some information from when my mom went through radiation for breast cancer. She had problems with burns, but was told that skin fairness had nothing to do with it. Everyone reacts differently–some women with dark skin suffered radiation burns, some women with very fair skin had no problems. Also, if you do burn, ask your radiation nurses for some burn cream from the burn unit. Once my mom tried that, it helped immensely! One thing that sounds pretty universal–fatigue. My mom found that it was slow to fade, but does indeed go away (it took her about a year to get all her energy back). Best of luck (and a toast) to you!

            • formerlyAnon

Frantically doesn’t sound good – but doing ahead is smart. Cumulative fatigue seems almost universal. Hope that’s the only side effect you suffer!

            • formerlyAnon

Way late but I have to weigh in that I just finished Gubar’s book and I think she’s made a contribution with it that is as great as her significant contribution to feminist literary criticism.  It had to have been terribly difficult to write (and she apparently is still writing cancer-related essays for the NYT?) but it seems honest about her experiences and her process as she’s coped and we desperately need honesty about medical treatment of all kinds in our public discourse.  I’ll stop here, as it’s not the place for a rant.

              Hope your neuropathy remains manageable.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          Going you in toasting SapphoPoet!

      • Call me Bee

Wooohooooo!  So happy you’re back among the living, m’dear!

      • MilaXX

I am so glad to hear things are looking up for you!
        *pops champagne, throws confetti*

      • annrr

Keep feeling better. My husband is a radiologist (and I’m a nurse)I have never met a group of people who loved their profession as much as radiologists. Great combo of intellectual challenge, and helping others. And they work with the most amazing techs and nurses. You are in good hands. Let me buy you a glass of Veuve, extra chilled is how I roll.

      • formerlyAnon

Congrats! Hope the worst of y our chemo side effects are a memory before Christmas. Rest as much as you need during radiation, being tired makes everything else so much worse. Hope the radiation side effects will be minimal.

    • Laylalola

PR inertia, fatigue, whatever it is — I knew it was on tonight but couldn’t for the life of me remember who was competing this season (nevermind that it’s … All-Stars!).

    • NDC_IPCentral

Vodka and tonic already in hand.  Our Boys have hit this worn nail on the head: Dullsville.  I’m with the Bitter Kitten Kommunity, of course, so that we can moan about the manipulation and nuttiness.

Gotta say, this Lounge today decidedly is not understated.  A good antidote to that dullness.

    • alyce1213

I’m going out on a limb here (snort): since Costello & Tagliapietra do a lot of prints, a graffiti-inspired print challenge! duh
      I’m having Rolling Rock tonight.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Watch, they will insist that it be edgy, “street” wear, and then whine that it isn’t saleable enough.

    • Call me Bee

Hi, fellow BKs!  I need a BG drink–it’s been a week.  A good week, as it culminates in a 60th BD party for The Hubs, but sheesh!  Like planning a frickin’ wedding.
Vodka on the rocks with two olives; keep it coming.
The episode tonight looks wonderfuly inspipid, and that’s good.  Don’t want to think too much today.  Cheers, all!

      • NDC_IPCentral

Milestones are good, Bee, just don’t emphasize to the Mister that this means he’s beginning his seventh decade.   That can cause shocked lightheadedness.  [I got over that and now revel in the longevity.]

My vodka’s diluted with tonic, as the quinine is good for the neuropathy – any justification, eh?

        • Call me Bee

Good point!  I’ll remember that at the party…

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

We need a “Dress a Daddy Bear” challenge like right now. Mid-episode twist: design an S&M/leather-daddy second look for your daddy bear to wear at Folsom Street Fair.

I’m sorry. I love bears so much. I’m seriously craving a bear hug right now.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

        Guest judge Russel Crowe.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

         (giving virtual bear hug)

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

          Aww. :3

Always remember that its impossible to give a hug without getting one back!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And I would have a problem with that, because?……
            Bring it, my friend.

            • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Here goes! (giving virtual twink hug)
Pardon my skinny bones poking into you.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Awwwww, right back at ya.  Thanks!  And no problems about the bones. :)

    • Miss_Magpie

What goes with Nyquil?  I’ll have that, please!

      • Winter_White

Tartan plaid goes beautifully with Nyquil.  Also, black, white, and …erm, which kind of Nyquil?  ;)  Such a shame they changed it — the old formula didn’t need to go with anything.

        • Miss_Magpie

Oh, Bless. You brought the Lee McQueeN tartan ball gown collection. That just might be the most soothing tonic ever!

    • Pennymac

Costello & Tagliapietra are the bomb. Their entire fall collection needs to be in my closet RIGHT NOW!

    • MilaXX

I’ve had a hellish day and have decided to go crazy. I’m making chocolate chip cookies and my version of mulled wine (cheap red, apple cider, cinnamon stick and orange peels.)

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

DAYUM!   Why don’t you live next door to me?

      • Pennymac

I want some too! Just the thing to go with my “darn-I’m-single-microwave-meal and disgustingly comfortable stretchy pants.

(What? I bitch about fashion, I can’t be fabulous all the time!)

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Honey, when you’re home alone, you’re allowed to wear your fabulous, inside.

        • dress_up_doll

Pass the bottle, Pennymac. We are kindred spirits. Just finished the yukky microwave meal and getting comfy in my oh-so-comfy, favorite stretchy pants. The two guest judges are scary. I hope there’s some good fashion tonight.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You should take a look at their website.  great, wearable clothes.

            • Pennymac

I LOVE their entire fall collection. Very wearable, chic, and I don’t think I need to be stick skinny to carry it off. I’m not plus sized in the normal world, but in our fashion world, I’m a huge sized ten!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

One of the advantages of their being “gentlemen of size” is that they are keenly aware, themselves, of the troubles of finding chic, wearable clothing in a good range of sizes.  So their work tends to reflect a greater than average awareness of the realities of their client base.

            • dress_up_doll

I just went to their website and checked out their collections. Wow! Color me surprised! I’m a new fan. Their looks were modern, chic and very wearable..

        • Call me Bee

Hey nothing at all wrong with stretchy pants, despite what Tim Gunn says…I wore mine all over town today running errands, though I wear my tennies to make it look as though I stopped on my way to/on my way home from the gym.  :)

      • Winter_White

How are new kitten Stormie and your beloved Aloysius doing, MilaXX?

        • MilaXX

sadly Aloyious passed away. Stormie is doing well. thanks for asking.

          • Winter_White

Oh, no!  So very sorry to hear this!  Along with my condolences I am sending best wishes to you and little Stormie.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m so sorry about Aloyious’ passing. It’s hard to lose a beloved animal friend.

            • MilaXX

              Thank you

    • Amy Ennis

I planned to skip tonight for the equally untalented Beauty and the Beast tv show. But are those LUMBER JACKS as judges? May be worth watching. I don’t know…

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Those two lumber jacks are extremely talented and successful ready to wear pros.  I do love my big, beary, gay boy, designers.

        • Pennymac

Cue Rodgers and Hammerstein ~ “There is nothing like a bear, nothing, in this world” The rest wouldn’t rhyme with dame, but that song is stuck in my head now.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

            If I may be permitted.
            Ahem
“There is nothing like a bear.
            Nothing, in the, world,
            There is nothing, can compare,
That is anything like a bear.
            Nothing cooks like a bear,
            Nothing looks like a bear,
            Nothing acts like a bear,
            or attracts like a bear,…”
            (bows)

            • Pennymac

               Hahaha! APPLAUSE!!! Well done!

            • bitchybitchybitchy

Well done, indeed-but then we all knew that Kiltntiltd was multi-faceted, didn’t we?

    • SayWTH

I just KNEW the fabulosity would come from the BKs and NOT the “All Stars.” I laugh every time I hear the commercial call them the “best of the best.” Seriously? If they were the “Best of the Best” you would, technically, have all the winners. However, since we can call “shenanigans” on several seasons’ winners, that wouldn’t work either.

All this to say, I will have a hot toddy coupled with a warm blanket and a cuddly pillow please.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

We need an “All-Winners” season eventually. Although it might be hard to book Christian Siriano.
Or a “Project Runway Masters” where we get real big-name American designers to compete.

Anything that’s not this season of cannon-fodder plus Uli.

        • MilaXX

I would love to see which designers would be willing to do a Project Runway Masters. I’d give up a limb to see Kors herself participate.

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

            The Duchess notoriously hates sewing.
Bet those crotches will be insane.

        • Winter_White

This sounded good…until I remembered that I never want to look at Jeffrey S. and his neck again.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/7EEUL3H2MKPNHQSJWCAMZLGHKM Auntie M

Now, that’s a brilliant idea! Bring back all the winners for an all-winners season, see who really is the best of the best! Bet I know who the first one auf’d would be–these judges have guts!

    • Zippypie

I have to say, the pre-season promos have been the best things so far about this show because the show itself is a slumberfest.  Even Josh and Ivy aren’t annoying me to screaming, at least not yet.

      And the garments.  Oy.

It’s freezing here in our nor’easter/post-Sandy aftermath.  I need a warmed whisky and a big fuzzy blanket.  With a kitty or two on top of it.

    • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

I found myself actually missing PR Allstars last week (with no electricity downtown). Instead of being able to relax and watch PR, I spent a good part of the evening ferrying enough water up 14 flights of stairs to fill and toilet tank and flush. Thankfully the power is back on and I can just relax and watch these amusing media whores, (and flush to my heart’s content – just for fun!)

      –GothamTomato

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m so glad that you can flush with abandon, and watch the shenanigans with the rest of the BK Krew tonight, GT.
My accomplishment for today was lugging our 18.7 pound cat in his carrier to the vet for the annual check-up. I’ve decided that lugging this feline behemoth around qualifies as resistance training!

      • Call me Bee

Wow–bless your heart, GT.  I thought about all the BK friends in NYC with no power wishing I could do something.  Happy to hear you’ve got power once again.

      • Stubenville

Ugh. At least I have gravity fed water in suburban Philly, even if the power was out for nearly four days.

Did you catch the news item in the NYT about the woman who flushed her toilet with white zinfandel?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Yikes!!!!!  What a terrible waste. (if I can be permitted the pun)

LOL, no I missed that story!

          –GothamTomato

    • Pennymac

Anyone want to take bets on how many times we hear “The New Uli!” tonight?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Can we just take this time to abbreviate it as “Newli”? Things might go faster that way…

        • Call me Bee

          Newli!  Brilliant!

        • Pennymac

Easier to type while watching, certainly. I think less than 5, Kilt- going out on a limb I say 3. Three Newlis!

          • bitchybitchybitchy

The number of times Newli is uttered can be part of this week’s drinking game.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m in for at least 5 times.

      • Wellworn

        Drinking game!

    • MilaXX

BTW, Love the company, hate the lounge. It looks like the type of place that design duo from All on the Line, the Unruly Heirs would have hung out in.

    • Zippypie

Why do we even need a new Uli?  I like the old Uli just fine.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I was totally fine with the old, or original Uli, too.

      • Wellworn

Old Uli had a fabulous runway show in season 3 and should have tied with Laura for the win (because I love me some Laura too).

    • snich11

      Are the guest judges lumberjacks?

Whatever happens, all I care about is my little lamb Andrae surviving another week…

      • Pennymac

No, the guest judges are Costello and Tagliapietra, amazing designers. There’s a link provided, Hint hint.

    • Polka_Dotty

Aerosol art = graffiti = vandalism!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

It’s only vandalism if the owner of the property says so.  If you have permission, you can spray to your little heart’s content.

      Aerosol art? REALLY?

      Also, Josh’s shorts? REALLY???

    • MilaXX

Aerosol art? WTF? It’s graffiti. Stop being pretentious show. Also I’m going to punch Suede if he doesn’t stop talking.

It’s as good an explanation as any for the unreasonable popularity of her fugly stuff.

        • MilaXX

           At least for that dress.

          • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

God, that dress is so hideous.

    • alula_auburn

Purple and yellow is an original idea?  Yeah, if you’re inventing the color wheel.

Designers: Complimentary colors? Not as uniquely YOUR idea as you think.

    • NDC_IPCentral

“Aerosol art.”  Boy, that’s making an awkward silk purse out of a sow’s ear.   Graffiti.  C’mon, LT – is this “PC” nomenclature?  You can’t tell me that the taggers on the street say that they make “aerosol art.”

      • CozyCat

“Aerosol art” would sound so much better if it were said by that british auction guy that was the mentor on “Work of Art” (his name escapes me).  The highlight of my week used o be hearing him say “Suck Lord.”

    • Stubenville

      Curious – new hotel?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

So Laura Kathleen is freaking out because she’s trademarked purple and yellow so that Althea has committed a fashion crime by using the same colors? Puhleez….

      • MilaXX

and now she’s worried that Ivy is talking about her? I hate to defend Ivy, but seriously, GROW UP!

      • Stubenville

Didn’t drama vortex Josh have a near meltdown because someone else used red in a challenge?

        • MilaXX

a few people had meltdowns over the same colors. IIRC

    • Polka_Dotty

Polka Dotty wonders what Althea is wearing. Can you wear a bra with that?

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Ugh, what is this mean girl bullshit. BORED NOW.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Laura Kathleen was hoping Ivy was the villain of this season and Kayne is trying to make her understand that she might be projecting. Hah.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

      Oh Isaac you TV whore.

    • UsedtobeEP

HI everyone! Guess Laura Kathleen is the villain this year. I turned in a big project today, and tomorrow is Friday, and I am having a beverage. Yay me! Sounds like everyone’s health is hanging in there, too, and that’s nice to hear. Cheers, ladies.

      • Polka_Dotty

Hi! I got gas today. I’m so happy. [For my car] I’ll have a very dry ginger ale on the rocks, thankyouverymuch.

        • UsedtobeEP

I got gas today too. For my car. Guess you have to clarify that point…

          • Polka_Dotty

Oh, here on Long Island, gas is considered liquid gold. And I have a tankful of it.

            • UsedtobeEP

A-ha, I didn’t know where you were. Yes, you are a lucky duck. And you are watching the show, or at least on the computer, which means you have power. I have friends in Manhattan and NJ who still do not have power or heat, bless them. We are all thinking/donating/praying things get better for you guys soon. At least here in NC, when we get hurricanes, it’s usually warm if the power goes out. Congrats on your gas!

    • Zippypie

“aerosal art”  oh just shut up now.  I’m at work and this annoys the shit out of me.

    • guest2visits

… my heads already pounding and these paint fumes are just pushing me over the edge.  Actually, I like this challenge idea – so far.
Look at Josh’s buildings, not bad. And I like Emilio’s paint-scheme.

    • http://profiles.google.com/urbangypsyt Tess D

Who is that making an orange and purple aerosol art penis?

    • dress_up_doll

Joanna looks amazing in that leather dress.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

        Yeah, that dress is fabulous.

    • Stubenville

I keep hoping Joanna will say you are the weakest link.  =)

    • MilaXX

I know, it may be too much to ask for, but I’m tentatively optimistic about what I’m seeing in the work room.

      • UsedtobeEP

At least it’s different. It’s not “the Avant-garde challenge” or the “unconventional materials challenge” or the “make a print on the computer challenge.” It’s the “Aerosol art challenge!”

        • Stubenville

Bonus! Not one all black look!

        • MilaXX

true and so far the rules appear to be clear enough that all of the designers are able to do something.

    • Stubenville

      Oooh! Old Uli!

      • Pennymac

Darn great minds think alike.  I saw that print and thought the same thing.

    • alula_auburn

Why is Josh wearing a tank top made from an old lady’s couch?

      • Stubenville

He wanted the antimacassars for epaulets.

    • Pennymac

      Manymany polkabluch! Love it!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Emilio’s reminds me of a theater costume right now. Maybe Rent or Godspell or something?
      Laura is delusional.

    • MilaXX

Laura Kathleen: “I don’t have to be a bitch to be able to compete.”

Oh we get that for free?

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Y’know, I don’t think of him as an All-Star by any stretch, but I can’t be sorry that Casanova is back on my television. He is ridiculously entertaining – remember on his season when he had that meltdown that ended with him proclaiming, “I’m getting FAT!”

      • Stubenville

I adored his “ploosh poppies” comment.

      • Wellworn

I love me some Casanova.  He needs his own show.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Before PR he apparently hosted Puerto Rican TV.
It clearly shows. He knows how to work a camera.

    • alula_auburn

I love how self-righteous Laura Kathleen is about Ivy “attacking”people, followed by clips of slagging everyone else.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

How is it the same jacket, Josh? In that it has the same silhouette? Because the detailing is totally different, which is what made the previous piece.

    • Wellworn

Laura Kathleen, paranoid much?  So cute of Kayne to try to help her with her personality issues.

    • alula_auburn

“You just don’t cut out circles and put them on a dress.  EVER.”

      Words to live by, y’all.

    • Wellworn

So this week Suede is using little circles for his skirt, instead of little squares?

      • Stubenville

He should have folded them and made a taco dress. [eyeroll]

    • MilaXX

The kitten is losing her darn mind trying to get a cookie. It’s like wrestling an octopus.

As for the show, I actually have hopes of seeing some nice things this week.

    • Stubenville

There is some serious fugly going down that runway tonight.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Just leave the bottle on the bar. I don’t need no stinkin’ glass, either.  Oy. I’ve lost count of how many hellacious weeks in a row I have and tomorrow doesn’t look like it’s going to let up at all.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Oh Suede, those smokey patterns never look good.

    • Call me Bee

Some of those looks are…unfortunate.  But I gotta say it’s nice to see a bunch with some sewing and tailoring skills, unlike recent regular PR desginers.

    • alula_auburn

The more Schmeidi says “wearable art,” the less it means.

    • Stubenville

Martha Stewart is starting to sound like Brenda Vacarro. Is Martha a heavy smoker?

    • NDC_IPCentral

Is this show draggy – not in the drag sense, but rather “interminable?”  Gee, I looked at the clock and saw, 10 minutes ago it was 9:27 and I thought it had to be twenty minutes later.  This is an uphill battle for my attention.

      • l_c_ann

Thursday night football (college or pro) works as a previous channel click, because the commercials often don’t align.

    • alula_auburn

Why does Andrae’s model walk like she’s pregnant?  How heavy was that bow?

      • Stubenville

        Scoliosis.

    • Stubenville

Oh Uli – those shoulders are tragic!

    • Stubenville

Suede – Cindy Lauper called; she wants her dress back.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Emilio Sosa FTW!  That was one put-together, eye-catching look.  Wow.

    • Wellworn

Andrae put the tulle jacket too low on the dress this week.

    • Stubenville

      Ivy for the auf?

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

        Pffft Suede for the auf.

        • Stubenville

Didn’t TLo say he won? (Seems crazy, though.)

          • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

They were joking. Suede’s in the bottom.

            • Stubenville

              Oops. Captain Obvious here.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Andrae’s is pretty in an impressionist way.
      Uli’s seems a little faded.
      Kaynebow!
Laura Kathleen’s is looking a little muddy.
Anthony Ryan made a sharp dress, but it reminds me of both Mondo’s designs from last All Stars and the HP Challenge team during his season that Anya won.
      Emilio’s is pretty good.
      Suede’s looks dirty.
      Althea’s is a little 80s?
I like Ivy’s – it feels like it has an 80s underground flavor, sort of Keith Harin in the handwriting.
      I’m a little meh on Josh’s.
Did Casanova send out a dress? #missedit

    • MilaXX

      Runway time, my impressions:
Andre – pretty dress, needs to lose the frippery at the waist.
Uli – Prety, not sure of the shoulders
Kayne – Looks leftover from the VS post
Lauara kathleen – okay, too short
Anthony Ryan – Pretty but stiff looking
Cassanova – Nice, a bit night club
      Emilio – I like
Suede – I almost like it, but hate the circles
Althea – don’t like the color blocking
Ivy- fit is a bit off. but interesting
Josh M – hate the peplum detail

      Top Emilo and Anthony Ryan

    • UsedtobeEP

Suede’s model made me want to dance to Love Shack.

      • Stubenville

        Not Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun</i ?

        • UsedtobeEP

          That would work, too!

    • lessax3

Again, I know nothing of fashion because I didn’t like Anthony Ryan’s. It looked like some really cheap fabric I bought for my first quilt fifteen years ago.

      • zelavie

Agreeing with PR judges has nothing to do with knowing fashion.  Agreeing with the judges only means that you know what the producers have written for them.

    • MilaXX

Oh the back of Laura Kathleen’s dress is fug.

    • dress_up_doll

Top three; Emilio, Anthony and maybe Ivy.

    • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

Did Kaynebow say, ‘My model looks like Kate Middleton’?

      –GothamTomato

      • MilaXX

it’s the paint fumes making him delusional

        • formerlyAnon

Also, I doubt it hurts business when you make custom pageant dresses to compliment the wearer whilst wearing rose-colored lenses. It’s probably a reflex by now.

    • MilaXX

I would have liked the top better without the circles.

      • Call me Bee

I didn’t mind the circles on the top as much as the ones hanging from the skirt. Ahhh…let’s face it–the whole thing is plain ugly.

    • MilaXX

Emilios’ dress reminds me of Yo! MTV raps. I like it.

    • Polka_Dotty

      Pailletes? They’re Polka Dots!

      • http://profiles.google.com/urbangypsyt Tess D

        Thank you!

    • http://profiles.google.com/urbangypsyt Tess D

I think a 4 year old worked with Suede this week. Awful. Plus those are not paillettes. They’re crappy fabric circles.

    • Wellworn

LMAO how will TLo judge those guest judges this week?

      • Polka_Dotty

I don’t know: does the blue flannel shirt clash with the red flannel vest?

    • MilaXX

Hate the skirt on Ivy’s, but then again I’m over sheer skirts and dresses.

    • MilaXX

Kayn’e dress could almost work if he hadn’t done the mermaid hem. Cut this off a the knee and I actually like this.

    • Call me Bee

THe Hubs just came in and saw the guests judges.  He immediately started singing, “My name is Yon Yonson, I come from Vizconsin, I vork in da lumberyard dere…”  I had to laugh.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

I feel like Ivy’s comic book inspiration may have been better served with a slightly more literal take, using stencils. But that’s me. I read a lot of comics and those action sound effects pop off the page with contrast, not as wifty as she painted them.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/DBSIHWVY4ECXGNXAXFXJMSCNIE Katrin

Her wonky handwriting ruined it for me.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Her handwriting reminded me of Keith Haring, but that was probably inadvertent. I just think that if it had been sharper instead of fuzzy, regardless of handwriting it would have worked better. After all, comics generally use handwriting-like fonts.

    • snich11

Thinking either LK or Kayne will go tonite…hope it’s LK altho I think Kayne’s is worse.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

They are totally keeping their new villain.
Ugh, Kayne’s probably going home. But he’s so handsome and cute….

        • alula_auburn

She’s such a BORING villain, though.  (And seriously, what was right in that dress?)

      • Polka_Dotty

LK’s model looked so embarrassed at that hem. LK for the Auf!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2011/09/pr-team-functional.html If anyone else is having deja vu over Anthony’s piece. To be fair, he was on that team, but all the more reason not to rehash the same looks. But much like the last season of Allstars, rehashing is bound to happen.

    • alula_auburn

The goofy, knowing expression of Isaac’s face when the guest was talking about Suede cracked me up.

      • Meelah

I love Isaac they could replace the other two judges but Isaac must stay.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

“PR – Team Functional” is the TLo entry that has the team designs giving me serious deja vu with regard to Anthony Ryan’s look. He was on that team, so at least he’s just plagiarizing himself. It’s just like last season of All Stars. (It won’t let me link the entry directly without moderator approval. DAMN YOU SPAMMERS – this is why we can’t have nice things.)

    • Pennymac

Oh, I don’t even give a rats ass. But since I’m a tacky southern girl, I gotta say I liked Kaynes far better than Suedes. Give me a weird quilty looking mermaid dress over one that looks like I rolled around on the floor of a discount sticker store.

    • guest2visits

OK – they’re just making this crap up about Ivy’s suit – right,?   That is one stupid suit.

      • http://twitter.com/eddiecheddar Liz D

That was some awful, tacky shit.

      • l_c_ann

But bless the editors for including Georgina’s “Haven’t we seen that jacket before?”

    • Pennymac

GOD, Schmiedi.2, STFU with your enunciation bullshit.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

        She needs a software update.

    • http://profiles.google.com/urbangypsyt Tess D

Schmiedi is giving me a Shelly Hack vibe, if anyone but me recalls her from Charlie’s Angels.

      • Pennymac

I remember, and you’re right. But a Shelly Hack that talks in slo-mo.

      • Call me Bee

Oh I remember.  Just about the worst acttress ever on TV.

    • dress_up_doll

I’m glad Emilio won. I just hope he doesn’t go overboard with that ego s*** talk

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

        Your hope means nothing.
        He WILL.

        • UsedtobeEP

Model said something like, “It’s going to show really well.”
          Emilio: “I know.”

Emilio, you haven’t changed a bit.

      • Polka_Dotty

I like Emilio. He seems to be more about the work than about the drah-mah. His suit reminded me of a pantsuit I wore in the early 1970s — it was a tie-dyed fabric in oranges and yellows, and the jacket had huge lapels (at least that’s how I remember it.) Kind of hideous, in fact. If I were looking to purchase aerosol art, I’d buy Anthony Ryan’s, simply because it’s pretty.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

“You’re in, and you remain in the competition.” Thanks for spelling it out, Shmeidi.

      • l_c_ann

Duh, Schmeidi, and one of the F*****s is going to go home, unless they deck you and are carried away, laughing like a maniac.

    • Stubenville

We are pleased that Suede has been schmauffed.

      • Wellworn

        Wellworn is very pleased also.

My cat literally hissed at nothing when Suede called himself Daddy Cat.  Suede auf!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

        That’s a very perceptive feline!

    • MilaXX

What the hell did Suede say? Daddy cat out? Really what is he smoking?

      • Stubenville

        Bath salts.

        • Wellworn

The other designers are lucky that they still have their faces.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Suede tweeted a picture of his drink and then several pictures of almost nothing.
      He’s smashed today.

    • http://profiles.google.com/bratling2 Laura Davies

I’m a bit behind here.  :) Why is it that Casanova always has to comment on the taste level of the other designers?  I mean, in his original season, he had the most execrable taste I’ve ever seen!

      • CozyCat

One of the editors loves the way it sounds when he says “taste level”?

    • Wellworn

      Please Suede go home.

      • Wellworn

Good, now he can go home and get a good night’s sleep, so his eyes will open normally.

        • Pennymac

oh, its going to take WAY more than sleep to open his eyes normally. Like maybe, sobriety?

      • Polka_Dotty

Don’t you mean, “Wellworn wishes that Suede goes home”?

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Victor is glad that Suede went home.
If Suede didn’t shut Suede’s mouth, Victor would have climbed into the TV and shut Suede’s mouth FOR Suede.

        • Wellworn

Wellworn forgot to speak in the third person because Wellworn was worried about losing her Kaynebow.

    • snich11

How awesome to see the color and prints…I hated all the BLACK last season!

    • Pennymac

Off topic, but this toad Abby Lee Miller is on a heinous power trip. Scary!

      • Meelah

Have you seen her regular show?

    • Munchkn

Was it Josh who said that at least everyone could sew unlike some designers from past seasons?

      • MoHub

I believe it was Laura Kathleen, who evidently has issues with hemlines.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I’m with Emilio in that I actually liked this challenge.  It was kind of what I wanted the print challenge to be–make something interesting, not something that reveals your deep innermost thoughts.

Suede definitely deserved the schmauf.   That was deranged.  On the other hand, Laura’s was tacky.  How to choose, how to choose…

As to the great Laura Kathleen vs. Ivy debate?  I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m Team Ivy.  And apparently, Team A Lot of Them.  I forgot how much Laura’s bragging about her dry goods annoyed me in her season, and it just seems worse now.  Granted, on a show where the judges routinely use the word “expensive” as a compliment, I suppose we can’t be too picky, but really, talking about how much money you have and how much your stuff is worth?  Was she raised in a very expensive barn?  That’s just gauche.

As to the win, it’s well-deserved for Emilio.  I’d have liked Ivy’s more without the words, and, as one of the guests suggested, with the underlay in yellow or orange.

I didn’t get the praise for Anthony Ryan’s proportions.  His dress was pretty good, but the first thing that struck me about it was that it looked like his model was wearing a dress made for a slightly shorter woman, with a waist that looked like it should have been at waist level but somehow ended up right under her ribs.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

I’m inclined to believe that Ivy gets a redemption edit. The producers are loving her this year, as evidenced by her THREE HIGHS IN A ROW (the first of which being worthy of a win).

      • Frank_821

I agree with you about Blenley. She’s not really a bitch but there’s something tacky about her. She lean towards the noveau riche stereotype.  And honestly she’s a bit of hypocrite since has no issue being critical about the others.

I found her comment about Althea’s print laughable since Althea created a much more striking application of the colors. LK’s was rather muted and forgettable in the contest of the challenge. Worse her dress looked ill-fitting on the model

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

You know what else is nice about Suede getting shmauf’d?

Suede and Wendy get to spend MAXIMUM time together in sequester. Which is actually really sweet.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

I love to think that the Auf’d designers are given a studio and all of the left over fabrics from the challenges, with which to create outrageous parodies of the other looks.

        • quiltrx

Now THAT is a show I might actually DVR again!

        • carolclark12

TO LIFETIME:  Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it … please??!!??!!

      • MoHub

And I think people forget how old Suede is. He’s not that much younger than Wendy, so no cougaring at work if Wendy wanted to pursue him.

        • l_c_ann

Suede has just looked very tired and that’s something that can’t be hidden.

        • formerlyAnon

Sweet goodness gracious! Your mind really will go where others fear to tread, won’t it? The images you have conjured!

          • MoHub

Yes. Yes it does. Thank you for noticing! Give me another 20 years, and I’ll be able to get away with saying just about anything—and people will think it’s adorable!

    • Munchkn

IDK, but she did do an ad for, IIRC, Kent cigarettes in the early 60s.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

Suede! I thought you’d been graffiti-ing all your life. What’s the crazy hair and punk-kid clothing for? Nah, he’s just a choir-boy posturing (very unsuccessfully) as a street rat. I never disliked Suede, even when he spoke in 3rd person, but I always hated his work: it’s just homespun Barbie clothing.

Oh, and stand-in Heidi… Thank you SOOOOO much for being part of **ALL Stars**, you are S0 Cr3@t!{V}E it gives me verbal diarrhea… woman, just get yourself a barf-bag. Listening to her is endangering my IQ.

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

did you know suede used to be a concert cellist? (cello player?)  true enough, he talked about it on his season when korto dressed him up like a punk rocker.

    • Polka_Dotty

Question about Kanye’s design: did he “create” all of the mermaid panels with the aerosol paint? All of those different designs? No one else seemed to produce as much as he did. Did he buy some of the fabric at Mood?

Hm. Good question. I don’t have an answer as to whether he bought some of those fabrics at Mood, but his garment was by far the most labor-intensive. I think he can (has in past challenges) produce/produced a lot in the time allotted. He’s technically proficient, no doubt. Problem is, his sewing skills and ability to accomplish much in the very finite amount of time they’re given cannot compensate for his lack of taste and all-around tackiness.

        • Cautiously Pessimistic

Yeah, Kayne’s technical skills have never been in question, but the speed at which he works leaves him with too much time to embellish, and restraint is not his default position.  He’s someone who needs to make a garment and put it away for at least a week so he can edit with fresh eyes before making it public.

Admittedly, having seen some of his non-PR work, I suspect he doesn’t do much editing even when he has the time to set something aside before a deadline.

Well, he is a pageant designer. Pageant gowns are generally not rewarded for being in restrained good taste. For his home venue, I think he actually has quite a good eye and perfectly reasonable taste.

They all had several panels but most of the other designers made all of the same effects and colors on all of their panel pieces.

Speaking of all-stars, guys, have you been to the Craft Show at the Convention Center? Features the knitting stylings of Miss Ping Wu! In person!

I’m going this weekend! I’m really looking forward to seeing what Miss Ping Wu! has been up to. Hey, maybe I’ll even get to meet her!

I thought they got auf right this week; Suede’s was an elementary school project. It looked like it took about an hour to throw together.
And I thought Ivy’s was worse than Kayne’s, worse than Laura K’s.  There was something abit Peter Max about Kayne’s. And it looked like
it was constructed well.  Though I agree, the flounce at the bottom was it’s downfall.  I liked the colors and even the webbing on the
back of LK’s – but It was way too short and the hem and back were poorly finished.
Ivy’s design was a mess, to my eyes; there was nothing genius about the missing back (I wish designers would stop defaulting to an
exposed back as though it were a cutting edge idea that instantly makes the garment sensational, or sexy). And I think Ivy has a thing
for sheer panels that almost never turn out right.  The jacket didn’t fit well and the spray paint job was insipid ( just like the ingratiating
speech about her inspiration).  I thought it was a bottom 3.  And  Althea’s wasn’t very creative or unique, to me.
From what I ‘think’ I saw; Andre’s was a top three look for me. I think Josh’s looked good too.
Glad Emilio got the win, don’t really know what all the crap talk was concerning the belt.  Not in love with it – but far and away the best
design of the challenge.  Anthony R’s was just ok, imo. I liked the silhouette much more than the graphic art he ‘created’.

      • l_c_ann

Did the ‘belt talk’ get included in the edit because Bunim feels they must try to confuse the winner during the brief judging chatter they give us?  And that’s all they had that was negative about Emilio?

If they’d just edit Faux Heidi down to a single “one of you will go home” instead of the three or four per episode, there’d be room for a bit more ‘meat’. Cutting down her eye rolls and posturing would also help.

I guess the belt could have been a wide sash.. ? I don’t know, the judges never clarified that for me.
Sometimes I forget about the game show editing and just get ticked off instead. But a sprinkle of over-praise and
over-critique to obscure the judges’ final decision is pretty standard, though.
It would be a great idea to re-work the editing to reveal the more interesting ‘meat’ of the program; but we know
that is the fantasy upon which Suede hangs his many ‘pailletes’.

Fun episode. I was in complete agreement with the win, second , and third place.
Completely agree with the auf but would have put Laura K in the roast position. I don’t think I would have put Kayne in the bottom at all.

Suede! What a tosser. Nannypoo is glad he’s gone.

Is anyone else getting the sense that Poison Ivy is being set up as the winner. This is the 2nd time in a row she’s turned out a hiddy garment that has gotten raves (for no perceptible reason) from the judges. Seriously? She was in the TOP??? On the basis of that horrible looking garment? The judges were joking, right?

      • MoHub

It could be part of her redemption edit. Especially with Laura Kathleen talking about how she didn’t believe Ivy could change based on viewing how she came across in her season. It looks as if the producers are leading us into rethinking our opinions of Ivy and possibly setting us up for an Ivy win. My money’s still on an Uli setup, though.

And yes, Laura Kathleen, people can self-assess and work to improve themselves; just ask Tiffani Faison.Perhaps Laura Kathleen could do with a look in her own mirror.

That would be my only explaination; let’s hope like hell it comes to pass.
(the stills don’t show it – but I remember seeing her jacket swinging away from the model’s body in the FRONT as well as the back,
it looked like a design-fail to me; it was like an apron with shoulders).

I hate these types of things–now we have pre-owned (or pre-loved, for Godsakes) cars instead of used, and the list goes on. ‘Aerosol art’, yet. Apparently they think we’re stupid enough not to call it ‘grafitti’. Pushes my buttons, too!
