Can I consider the dress a WERQ even if I haaaaaaaaate her hair? What say y’all?

ETA: seriously, it looks like a cheap wig.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I think it IS a wig.  From the neck down, however, YOWZA!

        • Snailstsichr

I wondered if Ann-Margaret wanted her wig back!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

            Oooooooooo Ouch!
            (heh heh heh)

      • Sobaika

I was thinking the same. I’ve decided it can’t be a WERQ because the hair isn’t just a misstep, it’s a baaaaaad misstep.

      • Tatiana Luján

And I love that she didn’t default to the red lip.

        • Laylalola

That’s the difference! I was thinking her face looks about the best I’ve ever seen and couldn’t pinpoint the change.

      • ourabsent

Agreed – the hair is bad but the DRESS is AMAZING!  In this (rare) case, her body in it looks just like the model’s!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GFMOZFM3WT3T56EZHVZFK7UXSI Ramon

      Of course

      • http://twitter.com/grooxcore Marie Ee

        how is this even an of course. s e r i o u s l y.

    • Karen Belgrad

Why do I feel as if she raided Lea Michele’s closet?

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Wha???  I really like the dress, but not on her.  Tay, you can’t just turn on “grown up” with the flip of a switch and curl of the bangs.  I’m calling BS on this one.  Those cut outs are for some other bod.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000393765005 Garcia Loca

Never thought I’d say this about a Taylor Swift outfit, but I do believe the girl has got herself a WERQ here.

    • gabbilevy

That mop on her head is ruining what would otherwise be a sleek, chic look for the princess of twee. And… can we all take a moment to be shocked: Taylor Swift with side cutouts?! (sorta.) Oh, the humanity!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002396153672 Ann Martina

IMHO she looks 100x better with the natural lip color, but too much going on with the smoky eye and the long bangs

    • Imasewsure

I love the dress itself but not on her and not on the model either… not sure why though… it’s a great dress

    • alyce1213

The positioning of the penis shaped bead detail is a bit disconcerting but I like the dress on her a lot. She has the right body for it, tall and slinky.  I wish she’s done anything else with her hair.

      • Qitkat

Thanks alyce! Now I can’t unsee that! Otherwise it’s a very striking dress.

      • NDC_IPCentral

I was about to post: GYNECOLOGY, because I thought this detailing looked a bit squished uterine.  And that’s absolutely the first thing I saw with this dress – eyes just drawn to it.  Most unfortunate.

Don’t these designers ever step back and look at their dresses and designs to see what body parts they emphasize, inadvertently?

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I can’t UN-see that now. It’s like an arrow pointing up at her lady bits.

    • zenobar

      She’s turning into Gaga!

    • teensmom99

This dress just seems slightly off somehow. And Taylor needs more color in her clothes.  This just washes her out too much.  I know she annoys my dearest uncles but I call this one a rare miss by this prissy miss.

      • cooperalden

I like the idea of one teen role model not wearing Vegas clothing to get attention or prove she is a woman.  I like her in the gingham, natural hair, and the vintage good girl looks.

      • NC_Meg

I don’t think it fits well enough. It looks like it’s just hanging on her and it doesn’t fit the model that well, either.

        • teensmom99

I thought it was a fit issue on Taytay and then I saw the model and I think it’s the design–and in any event, I still think even if it hung better, it would wash her out.

        • littlemac8

I think it makes her look shapeless and on the model too.  I also think she looks too bony in the chest to pull off this look.  I think someone more “full-figured” needs this dress!  :)

    • decormaven

I’m curious about the placement of beading/design- why is there a magnet placed in the crotch area? I like the styling of the dress, but this element has no other reference in the dress design.

      • kimmeister

The magnet is to attract Kennedys?

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Well, that’s certainly a definitive way to break out of the twee mold.  Just fix your hair so it’s as sleek as your dress next time, sweetie.  Snaps for foregoing the liner, too….very grownup of you!

      • http://twitter.com/purpleprose78 purpleprose78

         Excellent suggestions.

    • Sobaika

I REALLY like this a lot. It would have been a WERQ if not for the Barbie hair.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

I love it, but conditionally. The cutouts are bad. The rest is pretty damn hot.

    • crash1212

Love it. Guess it takes going to Germany to kill the twee.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Taylor Swift now starring in “Tina Louise – The Gilligan Years” on Lifetime.

    • http://twitter.com/Glam_Dixie Glam Dixie

Wow, she looks gorgeous and she looks like she knows it! The hair, yeah, it’s wiggy but damn, girl, that dress is the opposite of twee. Way to step out of your comfort zone and rock it.

    • UptownNippy

I would like this look if she had a demure french twist ‘do.

I am puzzled at the glittery penis outline….

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_U5LTVYHX32MGMMXR33G7TOXVR4 Magdalena Monzerrat Ontiveros

      Of course!

    • Jess5628

I just can’t with this one. No matter what she’s wearing or where she is, she looks like a little porcelain doll someone has just unwrapped.

    • charlotte

That dress isn’t even twee (at least in my book). Now I imagine her stealing it from JLo and JLo having to wear Taylor’s polka-dotted Peter Pan collar number.

    • pugluv

You can see her sternal bones!  I think she needs to eat a sandwich.  Pretty dress but wrong color, shape and fit on her.

    • TaurusKW

If she wore this much white as a child, I pity her poor mother who must have waged a constant war against clothes stains.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

      Of course.

    • nannypoo

I think it’s pretty. Unfortunately now that someone mentioned the penis thingy I can’t unsee it. Her hair is wrong for the dress and her bangs are too big. I like the pale lipstick on her.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=508965562 Amanda Choo Quan

VAG. Once you see it, you can’t stop.
Nevertheless, she looks awesome, except for the hair. Why do I feel as though she’s going to be discreetly patting it all night?

    • marilyn

She does not seem to be curvy enough to carry this off.  It makes her shape look like a block.  Ditto for the other comments about hair, etc.

    • joancarol

      Yawn

    • MilaXX

Oh look, it’s Taylor in another white gown. whatev.

    • Monabel

“Dress, where are you going with that girl?”

    • Lilak

Girl can wear a dress — definitely one of those real-life mannequins.
However . . . the hair is awful weighty, esp. with the kohl’d up eyes; and the whole thing strikes me as more of a press release than a young woman dolled up for an event.

    • call_me_schmeg

can we all thank miz swift for not wearing red or having red lips in this photo?

    • http://twitter.com/anacedillo Ana Ced

the color of that dress is just not for her, and that hair…barf.

    • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

Something’s off with the hair and makeup, but the dress is killa.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Why would a designer include an embellishment that looks like a tampon right in front of the wearer’s crotch?

    • ri_dic

I don’t love this dress. But I DO like her hair. I like the bangs, but I guess I’m in the minority.

    • Carla_Charlton

At least she’s not wearing a cutesy outfit with bright red lipstick.

    • Noelle Haland

I can’t abide all the arrows & landing strips pointing to all her ladybits, and the cutouts are bad.

    • kmk05

Her collarbones and sternum make me wince. It’s okay on her, I guess. Forgettable.

    • http://4ofwands.wordpress.com/ Aj/Melia

I didn’t recognize her without the red lipstick.  don’t particularly care for the eye make-up.  Too dark. Bangs are too long.

    • PastryGoddess

Lea Michele called, she said to give her her dress back and no one will be hurt

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/KZBBNYDMMMALGCUZSAFXWUWQ24 NYCKay

      She’s evolving.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

She looks amazing there. She is very good at dressing her size. Other people would ruin this dress and make it look trashy instead of chic because they’d be squeezed into it or have their boobs popping out of it. She is very good at fit (or her stylist is). I don’t understand the problem some are having with her hair – I like that it’s not completely flat for once.

    • Wellworn

Hi, I’m Taylor Swift, and here is my shiny white labia.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      White.  Of course.

OK, to be fair her hair and makeup are vastly improved.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Nice. Dress is serving a little skating outfit realness, but nice.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

This dress is gorgeous & she looks good.  However, her current hair color reminds me of an Eva Gabor wig.  Isn’t she too young for an ash blonde shade?

    • snarkykitten

Someone should tell her that side cut-outs do not make a dress look edgy.

    • formerlyAnon

I’m with those who think the hair is augmented or flat out a wig.  If not, she’s changed the color more than a little and someone’s worked some magic.

This photo convinces me that as her progression into grown-up stardom continues, she’s going to be having a breast augmentation before 30.  It also convinces me that she’s going to join Celine Dion as a very well-compensated singer for whom I have perhaps a slight antipathy. (So far, I kind of like her. Mildly. But the hand writing is on the wall, I think.)

      Very communicative, this photo.

    • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

I feel like she’s trying to be K-stew’s evil twin. I’m not in love.

    • jmorino08

Meh. She just looks like a mannequin now the way her hair never seems to change.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I really like this. A LOT. (I’m a little shocked at myself.) She looks like a 60′s sci-fi vixen.

ETA: BUT – the girl needs to close her mouth in pictures. At least SOME of them.

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Nope. This dress is too edgy for her, and her hair really needs a trim. A sleek ponytail might have convinced me she could pull this off.

    • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

Wow! This is a big step out of the realm of the twee for her and this dress suits her figure pretty well. Nice job!

    • http://twitter.com/pattylapatty pattycupcake

taylor swift is smart on details; i like that she’s rocking a bauhaus look for an appearance in germany.  it’s a lovely dress and her stylist deserves a WERK for consistently making good choices for her.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RHLSUVX3NCPB4OSS5BM7GZIXUE P. Capet

maybe more art deco but a very nice dress

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Sexy Space Princess. The bangs kinda ruin the effect of the dress, though.

    • jw_ny

I can at least appreciate that she stepped out of her comfort zone and went with a sexier and edgy look.  I’m completely shocked she’s changed her lipstick!  Still tho, She comes across as a total fake.

    • Louise Bryan

She is verging on “of course” territory.

    • quiltrx

I’m sorry…that thing at the neckline looks like a sanitary napkin belt fashioned out of old bra straps.

If not for that and her wiggy-looking hair in this pic, this would be great.

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

while being a huge fan of red lipstick, even *I* was SICK of the red lips on her.  she looks fantastic!!

    • ccm800

Her goofy little bangs and pinched little face just freak me out.

    • frankystein123

Pretty good, except for the hair.

    • laurenoodle

What is going on with her eyeshadow

    • guest2visits

Even though it fits Taylor very well; I like the look better on the model.
This is the one time she shoud have done something different with her hair style; it’s a mature dress and she should have put the
little girl locks away in favor of a more sophisticated ‘do.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1452430239 Roxanne Pedro

Her little girl haircut does not go with that dress at all.
