That hair thing is a bit Minnie Mouse…

      • Tom and Lorenzo

        That’s kind of the point.

      • ojosazules

It’s a Disney event. The Minnie Mouse ears are also a L’Wren creation.

      • MoHub

They’re designer Mouseketeer ears, and very cool ones as that.

      • ecallaw1977

         Hahahaha, really?

    • baxterbaby

      The Widow Minnie!

      • Aly Light

Right, what exactly is she mourning?

        • Fatima Siddique

          The death of taste

      • poggi

Hah, exactly! And based on that dress Mickey is dead and she has her sites set on Scrooge McDuck.

    • Tess D

Are those designer Mickey Mouse ears?

I wish I had the bod and funds for L’Wren Scott. Her dresses her always sleek and elegant. Sigh.

    • mhleta

      Drag queens everywhere are genuflecting.

    • jennifromcali

M-I-C….See you real soon! K-E-Y…Why? Because we like you!

    • Deitra S.

Only SJP could look like a Disney hero & villain at the same time.  Well played, SJP, well played.

      • diane {a spot of whimsy}

        your comment is perfection.

      • Gayer Than Thou

        You win.

      • Introspective

Loving SJP here!! She looks so chic and playful.

But loving this comment even more!! Then add in the Daria avatar?? You just made my day girl!!

      • Le_Sigh

        A million likes

    • AmeliaEve

      Best. Hat. Ever.

    • TonyGo

      I’m a mouse…duh!

    • In_Stitches

      Naked Minny Mouse?

    • Mary229

Yeah, she is totally rocking this.  Best of all, she looks like she’s having fun.

    • Janet B

      Well done SJP.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      Perfect. I am swooning.

    • tereliz

There’s really no other event those things are appropriate for, but I love it! She looks great. I’ve never been a fan, but she’s really been wowing me for the past few months.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Mourning the joining of Disney and Lucasfilm? Me too, SJP. Me too.

      • DeborahJozayt

Maybe Disney will be smart and release the original Star Wars films before Lucas started “editing” them. I’ve never seen 4, 5 and 6 as their intended form.

    • VioletFem

Fabulous! She’s giving off Minie Mouse realness!

    • Jackie Stewart

This is AWESOME! I think she is one of the only people who can pull this off. It’s fantastic!

    • another_laura

Love it.  And for once I’m not going to harp on the overdone eye makeup, because with the veil, well, and with the Minnie Mouse look, what the hell…..

    • KateWo

SJP and Matthew Broderick just seem like two of the nicest, charming people ever. Did you catch Matthew on Modern Family? He went shirtless and had the goods to do so. And more SJP on Glee please! ( TLo, there are still ‘ugh wtf’ moments on Glee but so far the new season is not bad)

      • MilaXX

my one quibble with Glee is the Sue baby story line. It’s kind of in the background, but it’s stupid.

        • KateWo

Agreed. I thought Sue in this last episode made no sense. And I’m not into Brody. Everything else I like.

      • Pinup Ghoul

I really, really miss TLo’s Gleecaps (and Lindy West’s, too!) because I just can’t with this season, but I’m surrounded by people who love it. I cannot escape! I wish I could still find funny and snarky Gleecaps that point out the crazy inconsistencies in the show with some levity.

        • Derek_anny

Is TelevisionWithoutPity still recapping?  Does it still exist?

    • LauraWL

SJP: Stop with the eye makeup girl! PS: Love your nail colour and rings! PSS: Way to rock Minnie ears at the Disney window unveiling! :-)

      • ecallaw1977

I agree–she is fabulous, but she has been wearing her eyeliner that way consistently for a while and it’s just godawful.

    • SewingSiren

Absolutely love it. However as a rule I think cocktail hats look much much better with the hair pulled back in a chignon. I will forgive for the sheer nerve it takes to wear lace mouse ears and a veil.

      • out for a walk

Yes, my one complaint is the cocker spaniel hair. It’s distracting.

    • Scarlet39

Aw, she looks cute.  She doesn’t take herself too seriously and that’s refreshing.

My one complaint is that it’s really time to rethink the makeup.  It’s not flattering.  In fact, it’s quite aging.

      • Ceur

I’m starting to think it’s a trick. In 10 years she’s gonna stop all of a sudden, and then get overpraised for how young she looks.

    • MGMcD

Only SJP can rock designer Minnie Mouse ears. Love the veil. Also love that she was smart enough to keep the rest basic.

    • alyce1213

I love this, but I’ll nitpick, because she should know better.  From the top:
      – hair back
      – less eye makeup
      – red nail polish
      – stockings
      But I do love this.

      • foodycatAlicia

Yes on all counts. Love the cocktail ring though.

      • Julia

Oh, my dearie me, YES: stockings. When one has visible varicosities it’s not just aesthetically imperfect not to wear them, it’s physically uncomfortable (and I’d love to see this with something radical, like vermillion: very Disney, and very individualistic!)

      • luciaphile

Yes, to all, especially the stockings part.

    • julnyes

      Luh-ving it!

    • Gabriella M

HAT KINDRED. As a hat/headpiece collector, I love her and I deeply approve.

    • decormaven

Her hair style, and hair coloring, suit her. Is this volume achieved with roller, extensions, or both?

    • A B

She looks fine, and the hat is a cute nod to the event but her coloring is so bad she looks ill.  Not sure if it is the makeup?

    • StellaZafella

I don’t care, I’ll just wear it around the house but

      I. Want. The. Hat.

    • kolokOlchik

      Socialite Minnie Mouse :)

    • diane {a spot of whimsy}

      ok this is legit amazing.

    • MoHub

And a classic Rocky and Bullwinkle moment:

Boris: You remind me of MM.
      Natasha: Marilyn Monroe?
      Boris: No. Minnie Mouse.

    • stubbornthoughts

I want to wear all of this all the time.

And she loves those Manolo’s, and they love her back.

    • ChelseaNH

If it weren’t Disney, it would be kinda silly.  But it is Disney, so it’s utterly freakin’ fabulous.

    • twocee

What…the…hell?  I don’t know if I should point and laugh or applaud.

Also, SJP looks more and more like a stereotypical upper East Side socialite.  Except for the 25-year old hairstyle of course.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

So those are designer Mouse Ears, yes?  SJP needs to start wearing stockings — I know that SITC pretty much started the no stockings rage, but her feet and legs are looking veiny and unattractive.

    • Imasewsure

Fun Fashionista… she is never dull … she’s my new (fake) BFF!

    • meowing

I thought the caption read:  And Disney Electric Holiday Widow … for which I as ready to give her a standing O.  This would be a perfect Disney Widow.

    • M

Except for the color, aren’t those are the exact same Manolos she wore when she married Big?

      • carpediva

Great eye, I think you’re right.

Btw, the little foot lift in those pumps that she does at their wedding kiss (and the reaction of those watching them) is the romantic moment in that movie that slays me.

(And my second fave moment overall, second only to Charlotte’s give-me-chills Mama Bear moment in the street with Big, pointing her shaking finger at him shouting: “No! No!” Her fierceness for Carrie in that moment chokes me up every time.)

        • M

YES! Charlotte as Mama Bear was unstoppable!  Another magical  SATC moment that gets me every single time is Samantha hand-feeding Carrie when she’s in the midst of her post-jilt Mexican stupor. Samantha, the least maternal one of them all, showing that fierce protective love. Awesome!

But we digress — wrong blog. ha  :)

    • MilaXX

Loving the fancy Mickey ears. The dress looks good on her too.

    • Lilithcat

As time goes on, she looks more and more like the women in Weegee’s photo, “The Critic”.

      • IamstillAnonymous

She reminds me of Helen Gurley Brown.

    • random_poster

I completely and totally dig this. Go Minnie SJP!

    • Michael Owens

What’s revealed of the hair is perfect!

    • Zippypie

Cute as hell!  But she seriously needs stockings.  Seriously.

    • KathKo

      … I don’t.

    • UptownNippy

      I love her too.
I wish that stockings would come back into style, they were invented and women wore  them for a reason. If  you have rough looking gams put on some hosiery.

    • Vera

What an elegant nod to the mouse.

    • Laurie Landry

From Lady Gaga I’d expect the mouse hat with an skin tight rubber cat suit and whip.
This doesn’t work with the classic dress and shoes.
      Where is Gaga these days?

    • Sarah Caponigro

I am kind of shocked by all the hosiery comments. If someone’s hands show a lot of age should they wrap them up in gloves? I don’t know, you couldn’t convince me to put on hosiery for a Disney Party.

      • Sydney Rose

I think stockings make dressy dresses look better on most women, regardless of age or the condition of their legs. It finishes off the look.

And if your legs aren’t that great, hosiery can make a huge difference (speaking from personal experience here).

    • emily

I love her but her feet and hands are quite old lady looking in the pictures.

      She’s still fabulous though

    • PeaceBang

Her hair looks real purty. And the shoes are divoon.

    • jw_ny

I’m so impressed with her hair and makeup.  Her eyes look so dramatic through the veil, and the soft lip just puts the focus up there where she wants it.  If it weren’t for the veil & ears, and theme of the party, her eye makeup would be way too much tho.

    • TieDye64

Haha, how appropriate for the event. Looking all serious in the black and the veil, then BAM. Designer Minnie ears. Here’s to having fun with fashion.

    • Krysta

      But please update your eyeliner.

    • PrunellaV

She is going to make a FAB-ulous old lady.

    • Jitka Pavlíková

It’s Minnie Mouse going to a funeral.

    • marilyn

All she needs is a martini in hand.  She looks like what she is:  A middle aged socialite.

      • StellaZafella

Here’s to the Minnies who lunch…

        • l_c_ann

I’m never going to be able to listen to Elaine Strich sing it without giggling.  Thank you.

    • Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

    • Anna Elizabeth

I actually think the eye makeup looks a little better than usual, because while I hate the eyeliner and wish she’d stop doing it like that, the shimmery eyeshadow is actually working for me. Love the simple dress, the rings are cool, but those Manolos just look like frumpy old lady shoes to me–the cheapo kind you get at the drugstore that have those removable/interchangeable sparkly decorations on the toes. Does anyone else know what I’m talking about?

I don’t think she needs hose, either. I never like the idea that women should be expected to cover up their legs if they’re not youthful and perfectly tanned.

    • Elizabeth Denton

She kills it for me in the best way possible. We need her in our (fashion) lives! Love that she doesn’t take everything so seriously.

    • LeifBallard

love the netting and the head band not a fan of the ears maybe if it was a big bow?

    • warnerave

i just don’t get her appeal… and damn those veins in her legs and feet…plus she’s really not pretty at all, why is she even a fashion icon i can’t comprehend!

    • crash1212

Love it. Love every bit of it and WANT those lace Mouse Ears. Perfect…shoulda been a WERQ – Minnie Mouse Version. Also, that’s a killer dress.

    • tallgirl1204

I looked at her thought “she’s channeling Daphne Guinness!”  In a good way, of course.

    • Jessie Melcher Brown

Love the hat.  She needs to start wearing hosery, bare legs do not look as good as hollywood thinks they do, and tone down the eyeliner.

    • unbornfawn

Love the outfit!!! Not a fan of the eye make-up or the fact that her feet look tortured.

    • Pamela

Minnie Mouse redux.  I would love the hat minus the ears.  It looks like a middle-schooler’s headband.

    • Trisha26

I don’t get her appeal. I never have.

    • Emmyllou

Oh, all right . . . but I HATE it. (Disney Damage—it’s everywhere!)

    • Lauren Lynch Fox

She has little kids, I get it and I like it!

    • amanda lynn

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.  good for you, girl.

    • formerlyAnon

Yup. Her hair looks good, too.

    • quiltrx

Why are her eyes so darned squinty?  Even moreso than usual.  Gives her rather the dowager look.

But the ears are adorbs, and that’s a nice dress with nice shoes.  Jewelry is pretty dowager too.

      • Iroqhard

OMG that’s it. Minnie Mouse Dowager Countess!!!!

ETA: I mean that in the nicest way possible. I think its the right kind of crazy. Lift up NYC, SJP WITH YOUR WHIMSICLE FUCKERY!!!!

        • quiltrx

You said the magic phrase…are you a fellow Regretsian???

          • Iroqhard

            CF4L, bitches. I lurk mostly.

    • Iroqhard

She’s like a Minnie Mouse at Mikey’s funeral. I mean, the veil? The smoky (read- runny) eye makeup? The big honkin’ rings???

    • DebbieLovesShoes

Love love love.  It’s a wink at fashion and I love it.

    • PhillipWilde

The mouse ears are beautifully cracktastic.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

Who’s the leader of the club…? A lady who needs to wear stockings? Maybe, but the ears are fierce!

    • librarygrrl64

That’s pretty damned cheeky. Love it! And I continue to love those shoes (but I like them better in a different color).

    • lesmaha

Made me laugh! Which I needed. Thanks, SJP!

    • Patricia Gillett

      Miss Havisham, re-imagined by Disney.

    • Dawnnewday

She looks like Wallace Simpson — not in the good, I’m living a lavish princess lifestyle, way. Rather in the, I’m skinny but still old and leathery, kind of way. I feel sorry for her.

    • marlie

      Oh come the fuck on.

The dress fits her beautifully, and the shoes are pretty, but it’s all a little somber, no? And I just can’t with that hat.

      ETA: Yes, I know it’s a Disney event, but I still CAN’T.

      • Dagney

        Yes. Co-sign this. I can’t either.

    • plinkiedoodle

Yes, everything is wonderful here….except for her fugly make up.  Just awful.

    • kategs

She looks absolutely terrific here.  The woman does have fun with her clothing!

    • guest2visits

Not liking this apparition; it looks like Tim Burton does Disney.  Scary.
