She should always wear red. I think my faves are January, May, June and September.

Too much photoshop, but hey, I wasn’t expecting anything else.

      • mellbell

There is something very wrong with her right calf in the March picture.

        • shirab

And ankle. I was just thinking that. Looks like an overeager ‘shopper took a bite out of it.

        • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

The whole leg. It doesn’t seem anatomically possibly for her to be standing that way, with her torso in the direction that it is.

        • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

Yet I really like the overall feel of the March picture!

        • Anca Mihai

It’s like a boleo , like a dance move. And her hips are turned at an angle. If it’s real, great dissociation

      • VanessaDK

I think the photos get stranger as the months go on–blacksmithing in a hotel in November?

      • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

Fabulous bitchy tourist getting a shoe shine in May.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

In a stairwell.  By a bellhop.  With a broom.  How odd.

    • crash1212

I actually love this. March is my fave and that’s some serious ass-itude in October.

    • Sobaika

I understand promotional gigs but there’s something weird about having a Penelope Cruz calendar.

      • Nelliebelle1197

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Word for word.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Girl looks blazing hot.  But, Campari needs to do a Calendar?  Really?

      • formerlyAnon

Hopefully, they don’t really *need* to. Because the product is thoroughly overshadowed in these photos.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

If they actually needed to, they wouldn’t have been able to afford to do it in the first place.

    • f_yeah_marie

Gorgeous…I love her especially in red.

    • Anathema_Device

She looks amazing in all of these shots. Although, I’m not getting all the superstitions.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

         May-August have me baffled!

I love September. Perfect little Sophia Loren shot.

        • Anathema_Device

Thankfully the other BKs have sorted out the superstitions for us. I had never heard of the ones involving birds loose in the house or hats on beds. Also, I thought the spilled salt was snow.

          • j_anson

Ah, that makes sense. I was like, “Don’t… sunbathe… in the snow?”

            • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

              Well, it is good advice.

          • marigi

Hat on bed is bad luck in Italy because when a dead man was displayed on the bed of his house before the funeral (we have close casket and a sort of wake in house before they put him in), the hat would be at his feet, on the bed. So it’s a remainder of a death in the house. But only men’s hats.
Also in Italy if somebody accidentally sweeps over a woman’s feet they say she won’t get married…

          • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I thought it was snow too. And of course birds in the house are bad luck because they get panicked and poop everywhere.

    • Vera L-

      What a fun calendar!

The March shot looks just like Juliette Binoche.

      • 3boysful

         And April is Audrey Hepburn.

      • kimmeister

March made me think of Stana Katic.

    • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

Penelope’s beautiful and it’s a fun concept, but a little same-y for a calendar.  I felt like I was looking at 12 months of October.

    • Introspective

she is really smoking hot. red is quite cliche if not borderline stereotypical (i.e. the go to color for a “hot Latin woman”) but hell, it plays to her strengths. Girl looks fab in every shot.

      • CozyCat

She’s dressed in red because Campari is red, and we Campari lovers would expect a “fashion” calendar to feature the color.  (it’s the kind of drink that inspires either fanatical devotion or complete loathing–no one is ambivalent about Campari!)

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Penelope’s pretty much burning up the calendar in these shots.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

They turned her into Rachel Weisz in the first pic.  That’s some heavy photoshop.

    • meowing

I don’t like the taste of Campari, but if I thought swilling it would give me her behind, I’d buy a caseful.

      • nannypoo

I can’t help with your behind, but as for Campari try this: Fill a glass with Diet Sprite, top it off with a splash of Campari and add a twist of lemon. Yummy.

    • Nicole Chubb

      What a fun concept!

    • DinahR

      Fun idea.  I like it.

I don’t get the superstitions for May or June though?

      • cornpicker73

I don’t get May thru Aug, or Oct.

        • mellbell

Some (certainly not me) consider it bad luck to sweep someone’s feet, leave hats on the bed, have a bird fly in the window, spill salt, or break a picture frame.

          • cornpicker73

Thanks! I should have at least gotten the salt one, but I thought she was lying on snow for some reason. Like “this drink will make you feel cool even in August!” I have heard of the bird one, but not the others.

            • Anathema_Device

I thought it was snow, too.

          • cornpicker73

Also the horseshoes, is it unlucky because they are pointing down?

            • mellbell

Yes, because horseshoes are supposed to bring good luck, but if they’re pointing down the luck “runs out.”

            • DinahR

Yes, the upside down horseshoes are the unlucky part.  :)

          • DinahR

thanks!  I have never heard of the sweeping or hat-on-bed superstitions.

          • LesYeuxHiboux

Oh I thought the pictures were “bad luck to hang pictures of yourself in your house”.

          • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I thought it was my mother’s horror of pictures being uneven. Although I realise that isn’t a universal superstition!

      • Aurumgirl

June is the superstition about hats on a bed:  never put one there as it foretells death.  July’s is the superstition about a bird in the house, which signifies the same thing.  May, August, and October are mysteries to me.

    • bertkeeter

So I can see this calender hanging in sketcy bars and rundown liqour stores world wide……Hm?

      • CozyCat

No self respecting sketchy or rundown bar would hang a campari calendar.  If you ordered it in one of those places, they would consider it obligatory to beat you up.  (and I say that as a big time campari lover…)

        • bertkeeter

All torn n dirty w scribble all over it?

    • MaryanneGirl

I love this – could be since red is my favorite color, but I’m totally eating all this shit up.  And LOVE that umbrella shot!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

January – photoshopped cats or real ones? Love the gown

      • l_c_ann

My guess (as a cat loving person): one cat, photographed playing around that dress (empty) and then photoshopped in in it’s many guises.  Reason?  Look at the cat’s tail.  Cats are expressive, but most have certain ways their tails curl and this cat’s curls are sort of limited.  (We had one cat whose tail would curl more than 360 degrees and we fought with ourselves over nicknaming her piglet.)

    • In_Stitches

Anger inducing amounts of photoshop.  Plus, some of the shots with primarily white backgrounds end up looking like Target ads with all the pops of red.

    • cornpicker73

Wow, she looks so Audrey Hepburn in June. Interesting collection. She is gorg. I hope OSHA doesn’t find out about November, ha ha.

      • l_c_ann

We’ll guess that OSHA isn’t international, because when was the last time you saw step ladders without multiple warnings on them?

        • cornpicker73

          True.

    • aquamarine17

Fantastico, every month! I love Penelope and Campari.

    • http://profiles.google.com/urbangypsyt Tess D

She is stunning and red is so her color. That said, May in the Marchesa is kind of creeping me out. Her waist and hips look photoshopped to hell. She’s gorgeous and needs minimal (if any) retouching. I love the one with the cats and walking on a crack. The whimsy in this series is awesome.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1540233153 Malve Lyborg

      Love those january cats.

    • StellaZafella

Stunning…better than what’s hanging over MY workbench at the moment.

The Westwood: Leslie Caron eat your heart out gorgeous.

    • librarygrrl64

Some of these shots are more flattering than others (that first one? scary!), but red is DEFINITELY her color and, even taking photo-shopping into account (especially in the torso), she looks hot as hell. Gorgeous.

      • kimmeister

Yes, her waist in real life is definitely not as hourglassy as they show here.

    • Tatiana Luján

In the picture with the umbrellas, she looks very much like Juliette Binoche.

    • l_c_ann

What are the shoeshine, red hat and blackbird superstitions?

      • schadenfreudelicious

the “shoeshine” one is likely related to the broom in the photos, all kinds of odd superstitions about brooms indoors..it’s considered bad luck to put a hat on a bed..and the “blackbird” is a crow, all manner of superstitions about crows relating to death, bad luck, etc  :)

        • meowing

Once a dove flew into my parent home.  Mom, raised in the south, ’bout fainted–to her, any bird loose in a house foretold death.

      • Genevieve LeFluer

Apparently it’s bad luck for someone to sweep your feet with a broom. I think blackbirds (crows? idk birds ha) are bad luck in general. No clue about the hats.

    • PeaceBang

She doesn’t look like herself in many of the shots, but I love September and October. The make-up for January is truly awful. I’m getting Leah Michele and in other shots I’m getting Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angie Harmon and Kristen Davis. Weird.

    • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

Penelope is starting to look a little past her prime isn’t she? No I kid. Clearly the woman stopped aging 20 years ago.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Red really loves Pen.  March and June are clearly the best ones, but what is June’s superstition?

      • meowing

It’s bad luck to place a hat (much less a whole hat store!) on a bed.

    • Judy_J

I love this!  Every month is fabulous!

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

She looks great! I WANT the Vivienne Westwood she’s wearing in June, and the Monique Lhuillier from December.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Never could I have imagined wanting a booze calendar, but I love this: the sense of humor, the cheeky shot for October, “Penelope Cruz: Cat Lady”…it’s all so divine! Wish I could figure out the superstitions on some of these, though. Don’t let a bellman shine your satin shoes with a broom? Don’t do your falconing indoors? That spilled salt shot is perfection.

    • kimmeister

For once I actually really love the Marchesa dress!

    • lrober03

All that red and no Valentino?

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

FUN! I want to do that photoshoot!

    • kathryn_dc

“The Campari Calendar 2013, of which only 9,999 copies are printed, will
not go on sale but will be distributed to friends of Campari
      internationally.”

      I weep.

    • poggi

I want a red dress and a drink.

    • decormaven

That June shot is spectacular. Not a fan of the windblown hair in some of the shots.

    • Imasewsure

Love Sept and Oct… find the rest kind of boring even though she looks beautiful

    • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

I know it’s a cliche to put a Spanish woman in red, but holy crap it’s a stunning color on her. Kind of a cute concept (although there are a few superstitions I’m not getting) and she looks gorgeous. The June picture really highlights how similar she can look to Audrey Hepburn… very cute with the little Sabrina-style sideswept bangs.

    • Jecca2244

I LOVE campari. so, so much. she looks like a different person in every image…that’s the point, I guess?

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

There is not one photo that I don’t like. That is a fabulous cover with some really creative styling and wit. Yeah, there is a lot of photo shop but it’s pretty which, of course, is all we are looking for from a liquor calendar. ha!

    • ThaliaMenninger

Well, she’s got red covered. No one else need apply.

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

I don’t like how some of these don’t even look like her, but June, September, and October are great.  June is super cute, September reminds me of Palm Springs and I WANT that dress, and October.  Well, it’s another ass shot but I really love her scandalous little smile.  It says, “My ass is red hot.”

    • quiltrx

I really like September, walking along the crack in the pavement.

And I wish we could all live in a world where a perpetual breeze is blowing, to make our hair and dresses look extra-fabulous.

    • H2olovngrl

It was all good til we hit October!

    • Qitkat

Love. Such a gorgeous, expressive face. I’d really like one of these calendars. Lots of fun.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

      Cool concept!

    • plinkiedoodle

Please tell me…why does this woman have a career?  She can’t act.  There’s nothing remarkable about her looks.  She’s just not that interesting.

    • MoHub

I liked what I thought was a retro bathing suit until I found out it was a dress.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

most of these don’t look a bit like her.  she’s just not latina enough.  the exceptions would be september and october.  i miss her wicked smile.

    • http://frockpaperscissors.blogspot.com/ kvlm

      KILLING IT.

    • https://plus.google.com/108251075533777132179/posts Frank Lithium

Whatever beverage she is enlisted to promote, I’m hooked.
