Lindsay Lohan in Dion Lee on Jay Leno

Posted on November 26, 2012

Before anyone asks – too late, since about two dozen people already asked on the twitters – we have not seen Liz & Dick yet. Our DVR was full up for the night, what with The Walking Dead, Revenge, and Homeland. We’ll try to catch it this week, but we heard – again, through the twitters – that it wasn’t quite the campfest everyone was hoping for. It sounded more like a banal TV movie with high-profile casting. Your thoughts, darlings?

Lindsay Lohan makes an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ in a Dion Lee dress paired with Christian Louboutin booties.

Christian Louboutin ‘Aeronotoc’ Booties

We don’t love, well, anything at all about this look. But it’s a hell of sight better than that dirty pillowcase she was sporting last week at the premiere party. It’s at least got some good telegenic properties. The somewhat unusual detailing provides some visual interest and the shoes provide a little balance and color to the look. Having said that, it’s a very tough dress to pull off and it makes a particularly bad dress for a sit-down interview. Check that side shot. Not even a little flattering. Also: the shoes are pretty ugly. Still; it’s not a total disaster and maybe that’s all we can hope for with Lindsay.

    I’m just happy she’s lost the tan-in-a-can.

  • Of course.

  • SewingSiren

She reminds me of this kid , Cheryl, that used to live next to us in Houston . She had very pale skin  and (what I perceived to be ) mosquito bites all over her . She would stand in her back yard and scream. Cheryl’s family had a big hole in their living room ceiling. And I don’t think they had running water.

  • xmixiex

dress and shoes are fug, but yes, this is a big improvement for her. I was stuck in the ER yesterday and mean girls was on- I wonder if she looks back and wonders “what the hell did I do to myself??” too. she was super cute, and refreshingly not underweight.

    • mshesterp

I actually think she looks not as underweight as she used to a few years ago–she seems healthier looking to me now.  But this outfit is just awful.  Is that mosquito netting on her shoulders?  And those shoes are frightening.  I expect better of Laboutin!  The netting (everywhere) needs to be burned.  But she doesn’t looked cracked out, so…yay?

      • Are we sure they’re real Louboutins, and not Swap Meet Loubies?

  • newleaf1

Those shoes look like horse hooves.  Keep waiting for platform ugliness to go away.

  • newleaf1

True – my daughter was watching Freaky Friday, and she was truly funny and entertaining in it.  And looked like a cute teenager.

    • Jecca2244

I truly think she was partially the victim of poor parenting…but I guess at some point you have to be responsible for your own decisions.

  • Funkykatt

Why didn’t she cut out the beige (can’t think of what it’s called) for a sleazier look? I look to her for tacky inspiration. Maybe she didn’t have the time.

    •  Illusion netting.

      • Nelliebelle1197

I thought that was illusion netting but I have a headache and was not quite sure if it was just my eyesight

        • Sad when a dress makes you feel that way, isn’t it?

I hope your headache is better by now!

  • Mismarker

Those shoes are U-G-L-Y and they ain’t got no alibi.

  • I’m not sure any human woman can successfully wear this dress, so part of the failure of her look can be chalked up to impossibility.  But that sort of begs the question as to WHY any stylist would pick this dress for his/her client.  The shoes are indeed hideous.  On the plus side, her makeup is inoffensive and her earrings are nice.  The hair is way too Little Mermaid.  Small steps of improvement, I suppose.

    • Vera L-

Dina is Lindsay’s stylist. That’s why.

      • Nelliebelle1197

         NO WAY! 🙂

  • I’m glad she’s back to being a red head. That’s all I’ve got because the rest is just tragic.

  • lalagigi

I watched about 15 minutes of the movie, squinting very, very hard to try to make Lindsey look more like Elizabeth. Gave myself a headache.

    • Me too. I watched about an hour. They made such a big deal about this movie…..they should not have.

  • Vera L-

    Netting. Saggy netting.
    Just makes me say no.
It is far superior to the ivory hooker ensemble from last week…

  • kat89

She manages to make everything she wears look cheap.

  • That is some of the worst illusion netting I’ve ever seen. Pair that with hoof shoes and…ouch.

    • deltabronze

Also, the beige illusion netting makes her legs look pink …

  • EliseC

    She’s still gorgeous and striking.

  • NC_Meg

The hair is like a Little Mermaid costume wig. I do love that she’s sporting her actual skin color, though, and the dress isn’t too bad.

    • l_c_ann

They may have been out of paste colored highlights in the makeup room at the Tonight Show.

    •  I’m pretty sure my five year old niece has that exact wig in her costume box.

  • Way, way, way waywayway too much illusion netting.  And The shoes are horrible.

  • f_yeah_marie

What I saw of the movie was awful.  Corny lines, okay costumes, sets that don’t make you feel part of the time period (perhaps Mad Men and The Hour have spoiled me), the weird way the story was told with Liz and Dick sitting around as if they’re in Inside the Actors Studio…what a mess.

    • I saw some stills of the costuming. The jewelry is so laughably fakey.

      • f_yeah_marie

And the sets looked so much like sets, you know?  Like in the hospital, you just knew that it was only a quarter of a room with fake equipment.  Maybe they blew their budget on booking Lindsay, knowing they’ll get ratings due to people’s curiosity and natural tendency to not look away at a disaster.

  • BrooklynBomber

    That is one ugly dress.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

So I watched Mean Girls this weekend because it comes up as a defense of LLo so often.  Um…was this the movie that made Lindsay, Amanda and Rachel’s “careers”???  That’s really sad.  But now I know.  I’ll keep my Heathers, Legally Blond, and Sixteen Candles, thankyouverymuch.

  • decormaven

This is an improvement from last week’s look, but it’s coming from an F to C minus. Hair looks healthy, and makeup is pretty. This dress is no one’s friend, and those shoes should not considered an accessory to anything human. Who did the styling for her Vanity Fair cover shot and spread back in 2010? With the right stylist, she can look great. But it’s been a long time since that look has been achieved.

  • That is a big fat fugly OUT.  Not that you asked.

  • miagain

That is a stupid dress, and those are hideous shoes…

  • lbl

This was bad on Charlize Theron. I don’t even want to talk about it on her.

    • I prefer this dress on Lindsay because I expect so much more from Charlize.

With Charlize the standard is Fabulous Old School Hollywood Glamour and Beauty or Girl That’s Not Your Dress But You Still Look Fierce.

The standard for Lindsay is XXX Porn Star or Softcore Cable Porn Star.  Since this look falls into the later category it’s a good look for her.

      • formerlyAnon

         An admirable summing up.

  • Anathema_Device

This is a bad dress is general. Wsh she had worn a more basic black dress, like a Victoria Beckham one. But at least she doesn’t look like she slept in this for 3 days before going on air.

  • So she looks like a higher-class call girl instead of a streetwalker.

    • Lilithcat

High-class call girls dress better than that.

  • Janet B

What I like about Lindsay is that poorly chosen dresses aren’t all alike.

From these photos her skin looks natural and her makeup isn’t over the top.

  • Wellworn

Cut outs and illusion netting need to go away.  Better in the Ice Capades or Dancing with the Stars, but not in fashion.  Ok designers?

  • marilyn

SHe looked the part of Liz (except for the pale lipstick) but the minute she opened her mouth, it was Lindsay all the way.  The story was very well written, the scenery was fantastic, the actors looked great, but she just didn’t sound right.

  • In_Stitches

This is most certainly not a sit-down dress.  While standing, it kind of works.  It’s the closest we’ve seen to chic out of her in quite some time.

That hair color, however, is not for her.  Makes her look like a broke drag queen.

  • neofashionista

    this is just gross

  • StellaZafella

The dress looks like an after Christmas sale: Half off the top.

  • Carla_Charlton

At least she’s not doing the fake tan.

  • bertkeeter

NOT her dress….Hair n makeup OK! Wrong shoes! LIZ and DICK was hhhhhoooorrrrrrreeeeennnnddddooouuusssss! OKAY?

  • PeaceBang

Good Lord, she looks beat up. The horrid plastic surgery makes my heart ache. I feel like this is Julianna Moore’s dress. Those shoes, they are no one’s. They are to be burned.

  • her face looks so much better than i ever remember

  • Judy_J

I see nothing to like about this dress.  In that shot where she’s walking out on stage, it appears that someone tried unsuccessfully to rip it right off her body.  The shoes are beyond hideous.  She looks like she’s already reached middle age, and she’s what?  Still in her 20’s?  Sad.

  • LauraWL

The dress would look better with her hair up. Also, illusion netting? Uhm, no. Thirdly, those shoes are hella ugly.

  • warnerave

she looks like a street hooker 🙂

  • MitchellGilburne

    Rehab Jessica Rabbit

  • Sara__B

All those lovely smiles can’t hide that ugly dress, but at least all her lady parts are covered. Her shoe choice is jaw-droppingly awful. She must be her own stylist.

  • MK03

I get sad just looking at her. Mean Girls was on last night and I couldn’t enjoy it. I just kept thinking “She was so beautiful.”

  • That dress…? It doesn’t sit well.

  • The netting is awful, makes her look like she has a skin disease or worse–arm and shoulder cellulite.

  • That 4th pic down where she’s smiling makes me so sad – I remember the cute fresh faced teenager she was. She would be so much prettier if she went for the clean-scrubbed all-american girl look instead of trying to be a glamourpuss.

The shoes would make a great murder weapon. Can be used for bludgeoning OR stabbing!

  • VicksieDo

    Waste of a cool dress.

  • alyce1213

No, it is a total disaster. Wrong place, wrong dress, wrong woman, wrong shoes.
    I can’t even look again.
It’s not as bad as the dirty slip, which was vomit-inducing, but still horrendous.

  • Trisha26

It’s hideous. Before I realized it was illusion netting I thought her upper arm was having some sort of cellulite issue.

  • Please send that dress back to Rooney Mara where it belongs.

  • schadenfreudelicious

she looks clean atleast, she also looks a good 10-15 years older than she actually is….

  • How was the movie?  When I noticed the actor who played Mr. Sheffield on The Nanny had a small role and I started to think about how much better the movie would have been if Fran Drescher and he had played Liz and Dick.  It’s that bad.

  • AuntieAnonny

What offends me the most is the fact that those hideous shoes cost $2,395.00.

  • In my head, she is the ‘Oh, dear’ to Lea Michelle’s ‘Of course.’

  • Wendi126

She looks like a 50 year old who had decent facial work done

  • VestigialMe

Like you, I was hoping for some great camp, but no one knew what the hell they were doing. It’s like everyone from the writer, to the director, to the actors, had a completely different take on what the movie was and so it never quite fully came together. In the end it wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad, it just was.

  • i feel the same way.  it could be much worse.  it’s not horrible, just not great.

  • GAWD Leno is so repulsive. Thank goodness I only need to look at his smug mug in the first picture.

  • Monabel

    What a ridiculous dress.

  • unbornfawn

Haven’t seen Liz & Dick. On anyone else I would have called this look a hot mess. On Lindsey it is an improvement.

  • LuluinLaLa

I turned Liz and Dick off after about 15 minutes because the movie was just… boring. Lindsay as Liz was bad, but not any/much worse than the writing or the direction. I went into it with the (low) expectation that it was a Lifetime movie, but it just didn’t have either the warmth or the camp that usually define those.

  • joonchic

It’s the same dress that Charlize Theron wore here

  • She looks… less messed up than usual. That’s saying a lot. Also, she’s much better as a redhead.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

That  is a tough dress to carry off. I decided to pass on the LIfetime Liz/Dick movie;somehow I thought that the ghost of Liz might appear and smack me for watching it if I did.

  • quiltrx

What a weird dress and the shoes don’t go.  At least she’s lost the ugly blonde and the fake tan.

  • I’m just happy she’s lost the tan and the fake blonde hair. Now we just have to pile tons of facial masks on that poor skin of hers and hope for the best. Facial surgery is not the way to go, LiLo.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She needs to have body make up because her fair skin gets mottled easily, especially in a cold studio.  I think she needs to put it on those legs and on her arms.  But at least she’s not wearing bleached out hair and a see through white tee shirt.  And an ankle bracelet.

  • Mary_Shelley

I seriously, seriously feel sorry for her.  Poor thing.

  • Cathy S

The clothes are horrible. The shoes are worse.

    • Whatever surgeries did that to her face are the worst!

  • bitterk

    She’s trying…I think

  • lindsay can take high fashion and make it look like a dime store (woolworths?) halloween costume that’s falling apart.  and it’s an improvement.  i agree with others who noted she looks best as a redhead, although this is not a great dye and extension job.  and can i say, without body snarking, that she needs someone (a bitchy gay?) to advise as to which parts should not be prominently displayed, eg her inner arms.  keep trying lindsay, it’s good to see you alive and working in the mainstream media.

  • and can i also note that the runway model’s hair is both hideous and intriguing?  are those braids or ringlets hanging in her eyes?
