Kat Graham in Hollywood

Posted on November 01, 2012

Because were fans of a chic little high/low look when it’s done well, Kat Graham is giving us life here.

‘Vampire Diaries’ star Kat Graham at a local farmers market in Hollywood.

If we were at a Farmer’s Market and some gal wandered by wearing this, we’d stop and pay respect. It’s not that it’s earth-shattering or anything, but it’s cute as hell and we just love the idea of pairing that dress with sneakers and a knit cap, slapping on some bright red lipstick, and heading out for the day. The necklace and the clutch are too much both for daytime and for the look, but those are the only missteps. She looks adorable.

  • She also seems to have matched the clutch to the studs on her hat, which is a bit unusual. A clutch is crazy at a farmers market, it says you are only there to have your picture taken.

    • Kathy_Marlow

I don’t know, after seeing some of the things she’s worn on the red carpet, she seems like the kind of girl to carry that clutch just because she likes it.  She definitely chooses her own looks and this just looks like “her” to me.  I think except for the clutch/necklace, she is totally adorable.

      • Nelliebelle1197

Definitely a set up, not a candid
First thing on her webpage. Complete with all the designers.

    • That’s what I was thinking. Clutch, no bags to carry anything and a dedicated photog following her around, in and out of the market? It looks like a set up.

    • LauraWL

FWIW I live in an urban area and have a clutch with a wrist strap that I normally take when we are walking some place for a bit or to grab a few groceries. That being said that particular clutch is cray cray.

    • 3boysful

Yup, if she were serious, she’d be pulling a wheelie cooler . . . .

      • tereliz

That is the accessory I never forget when at the farmer’s market. My goat meat and sheep milk cheese and frozen fish would never keep in that clutch. 😉

      •  At least something that won’t poke holes in you when you tuck it under your arm so you can squeeze the avocadoes with both hands.

    • Nelliebelle1197

    • I was thinking the same thing. I like to wear cross body bags in general, but to a farmers market I would definitely need it or a messenger to carry groceries in. A clutch is just one more thing to worry about.

  • LOVE this. Sassy and chic and cute. This girl often looks insane on the red carpet, so clearly her personal style works much better for street style.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

The second picture is fantastic, like something out of a photo shoot.

  • Honestly? Not a fan of the sneakers with the dress, especially one of that length. But love everything from the knee up. I need to go invest in some bright lip colors and sip coconut juice under the sun.

    • LauraWL

Agreed. I like everything but the clutch and the shoes. Maybe shoes without bright laces?

      • teensmom99

Somehow she makes the sneakers work. That’s star power.

  • pookiesmom

Hmm. Well, she looks happy! There’s that! I think she looks kinda crazy, but again, what do I know?

  • Annabelle Archer

When this is what the great and powerful TLo give as their seal of approval, it is clear to me that I just do not understand fashion. Neither casual nor fancy. I enjoy it, I like to look at and talk about it, but I do not understand it.
I am not getting the adorableness of this.

    • Qitkat

Clearly it is the hot pink shoelaces that have bewitched them.

  • Jasmaree

Really? I think this looks pretty bad on her. The hat, sneakers, and dress don’t go together at all. It looks like she got dressed in the dark.

    • I agree, the fit is terrible on her. She looks preggers.

  • MilaXX

Take away the clutch and swap the sneakers for a flat or some vans and I’m completely in with this look.

    • tereliz

Missoni has some cute ombre oversize berets this year in mohair and wool that might be just un-Rasta enough for you. I just got one at my local designer discount store. If only the 80 degree days would stop so I can wear it. 🙁

Oh, and I would have worn my chucks with this dress!

      • MilaXX

I’ll have to look for those. I think I might have liked chucks better.

  • joything

I work at a Farmer’s Market every Saturday, that that look would definitely turn my head.  Snaps!

  • pattyw

Nooooooo to the shoes. Too clunky. Hem needs to be a couple inches shorter. Look at the woman in the canvas shoes in the last photo — those would’ve worked.

  • Eclectic Mayhem

What an incredible smile!  She’s fabulous.

  • SewingSiren

Love the entire look , except the shoes. But even the shoes don’t ruin it.

  • kimmeister

Her clutch has disappeared in the last 2 pictures.  Maybe someone made off with it!

    • jw_ny

If you look closely in the last pic,  you can see she has it tucked between her body and her arm/elbow.

  • shanna bowie

She’s always walking around like it’s a photoshoot. No hate since she’s also followed by paparazzi but seriously it must suck to not be able to just wear jeans and a tank.

  • Jecca2244

    she’s so beautiful! That smile!

  • JasmineAM

I think another pair of sneakers, either some Chucks or a pair of classic Vans, would have made this great. Those shoes just don’t go with anything she’s wearing. I do like everything else.

  • Those look like wrestling shoes–maybe stylish wrestling shoes–but wrestling shoes nonetheless.  Sorry.

  • Agreed on the clutch, but I like the necklace with this. A slouchy hobo bag would be perfect (and a lot more farmer’s market friendly).

  • Rand Ortega

Not feelin’ it. The sum is not equal to the parts. Love the dress, not the sneaks. Love the beanie & clutch, not the necklace (I’m a bit ADD when it comes to mixing golds & silvers). She’s gorgeous though, & gives the look its oomph!

  • Pants_are_a_must

Sorry, not a fan of all of these together. The dress is cute with the necklace is cute with the sunglasses, but not with that cap (which is, by the way, borderline Amish/Orthodox Jew) and those godawful sneakers. Nope nope nope. We are in disagreement.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think someone has watched “Grey Gardens” one too many times.

  • nannypoo

    Way too random for me.

  • Dot

I really don’t get this look at all — none of it looks right together. The Chico’s-style necklace is bizarre and the hat just looks batshit insane.

  • B_C_J

This is a mishmash of items and they are all fighting each other.  This is not a look.  She went to a thrift store, was blindfolded and was told to wear whatever she picked out.

  • erinbinek

Really?  I think she looks a mess.

    • lesmaha

me too-I especially don’t like the shoes with those laces. If they had different laces, maybe.  But I also don’t like the hat. So….count me out…

    • Anathema_Device

I think it would be cuter with some less athletic-looking sneakers.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

there’s some little edie shite going on here fo sho

  • Judy_J

I love the dress, but hate the shoes.

  • tereliz

Great kicks!  (Do the kids today still call them kicks?)

  • TSkot

No no no no no.  NO! She looks like she’ll slip into her pumps when she gets back to her desk. Horrible look.

  • snarkykitten

I’m totes one of you guys! she seemed to say in that last one

  • PrunellaV

What a great, non-t-shirt-and-jeans way to do casual.

  • It kind of says Stride of Pride to me — like she woke up at her man’s house after a night out (hence the fab clutch and necklace), threw on sneaks and a cap with her dress, and on with the day! I agree on the adorableness.

  • jw_ny

I kind of like this kicky little getup too.  I imagine her walking along singing ‘feelin’ groovy!’  😉

  • sk8tfan

Love her killer smile and the lip color. Not a fan of the necklace, but I like the hat. Overall, I think she looks great, and like a lot of fun.

  • gg80302

What was it that Chanel said…Before you leave your house, take off the last thing you put on…in this case maybe the last two things. Cute original look though.

  • Contralto

She’s cute and I really like that little dress.

  • Trisha26

She looks like a cray homeless woman I’d run the other way from. Hideous.

  • jmorino08

I hate those shoes with that dress and that clutch is ridonkulous, as evidenced by the fact she’s only carrying it in one photo.

  • quiltrx

I wish i could see the sneakers better–they’re really cute from what I see.

  • Call me Bee

Cute dress, but a gal in a skirt with sneakers just reads “secretary walking on her unch break” to me.  Hate it.  Flats, or even funky Chuck Taylors would have been better.

    • 3boysful

You know, I think where you’re getting the secretary at lunch vibe is the fact that Kat’s sporting a pretty standout necklace, like she DID have on heels, but swapped them out for some quick errands.  In other words, hat aside, she has on a pretty normal casual-dress outfit, then swaps out for the tennies.

  • theafternoonknows

Little Edie on her way to work in the city.

  • 909girl601world

If I were at a farmer’s market and somebody wearing this walked by I’d stop and think they look crazy as hell. No bueno.

  • I like seeing her relaxed and not trying so hard to be fierce. She really is the best actress on Vampire Diaries; they seldom give her enough to do.

  • Dress/skirt and sneakers is my shit. Except I prefer Keds or converse.

  • guest2visits

I think if you are wearing a blingy necklace and a blingy clutch, the informal kicks are too casual – maybe if the sneakers were a
different shape or more monotoned or something less athletic-looking.  Maybe sandals, maybe colorful loafers… ?

  • librarygrrl64

In total agreement on the necklace and the clutch.

  • H3ff

I love how the article is called “Spotted: Farmers Market” yet it’s on HER OWN WEBSITE.
