Jenna Dewan-Tatum in West Hollywood

Posted on November 14, 2012

We don’t think this look could possibly be any more California-chic. It’s such a region-specific look.

‘American Horror Story’ star Jenna Dewan-Tatum stops by House of Tailoring in West Hollywood, California.

Not that you couldn’t wear this anywhere else in the fall, just that it so embodies L.A. style. There’s not one thing about this look we don’t totally dig. Which is funny, because it’s a rare day you’ll find us praising a fringed poncho-esque sweater like that. But paired with that cute striped top and those unbelievably fierce boots, not to mention the shades and the gorgeous head of hair she’s sporting, and the whole look just works for her. She’s about 3-and-a-half inches tall, so we kind of wonder if those boots are supposed to come up that high on the leg, but it really makes the look.

    Adorable.

Those boots are gorgeous! This is how you do the big jumper – huge, bulky knit on top, skinny jeans below – for perfect proportions. She reminds me of Summer Glau in these pictures.

    • mshesterp

She actually reminds me of Vanessa Hudgens if she didn’t have such a tragic sense of style.

      • lovelyivy

Yeah, Vanessa needs to step away from the Free People catalogue forever.

      • Kristin McNamara

I actually started to read this post before really reading/processing the title of it, and I legitimately thought it WAS V-Hudge for a good 10 seconds!

Me too! I thought she had finally learned how to dress herself!

  • Violina23

*sigh* I wish I could wear tall boots… I have small feet and thick calves, the only thing worse than going boot shopping is when I try to go skiing!

Love this look, agree with everything said

    • MilaXX

I do too and every time I come across wide calves boots that fit, I buy them in every color.

    • kimmeister

I’m with you.  A friend didn’t believe me that boots are nearly impossible to find for large calves, until she saw me try on 6 pairs in a row that wouldn’t zip up.

The ski boot thing ticks me off.  What, are skiers supposed to NOT have muscular calves?  Come on!  It doesn’t appear to be a problem for my brother though, who has similarly gigantic calves.  Guess I might have to try men’s ski boots . . .

    • librarygrrl64

I have size 10 feet and muscular calves and I have no better luck. But I have had really good luck with this site: http://www.widewidths.com/

Don’t be scared off by the name. I do not have wide feet (normal width, slender heels/ankles) and the three pairs I bought all fit my feet AND my calves. :-)

  • Karen Belgrad

I would kill for that sweater… can anyone recommend a suitable/affordable version for the masses?

  • MilaXX

I like the person on the street looks like this that are almost believable.

    • mshesterp

I love when that happens.  And even better–I feel like I could wear this outfit and NOT look ridiculous.  I’d actually feel put together and cute.

    • Violina23

Part of it is probably because half of the look isn’t “LOOK AT MY BAG, IT’S AWESOME & MORE EXPENSIVE THAN YOUR HOUSE” :-)

  • SapphoPoet

Cute. I would have left off the necklace, though.

  • Martha Deutsch

I’d love to know more about those sunglasses …

  • meowing

Sigh, to have thighs the width of a pencil.  We’ve been cold (upper 30s) in SoCal in the mornings, but over 80 by noon, so dressing is hit and miss right now.  Guess she dressed for the a.m.  Looks super, young and happy.

I can’t sign off on the fringed poncho. The rest, is spot on.

    • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

Yup, agreed. The fringe is just making me cringe. (Sorry.) As a fellow Californian though, I agree that this is LA style to a T.

  • AuntieAnonny

It’s like a west coast version of a Hilfiger ad.

I usually hate boots like that, but those are pretty good looking.

  • decormaven

This is when you know someone is drop-dead gorgeous- full sunshine, and her hair/skin/profile is radiant. This look will be pinned a thousand times.

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

She looks adorable. AND, she appears to be driving a Toyota. Unless she’s just walking by it.

I just saw Magic Mike and now I hate her. For…reasons.

    Cute boots though.

This looks terribly mid-2000 to me. Dislikeeee.

  • Kathy_Marlow

Love those boots!! They look like “Super Heroine running errands”

  • Elaine Rodriguez

I must find out who makes those boots!  This whole look is fab!

  • Anathema_Device

Yes, very California. I see women dressed like this a lot. It is a cute, easy look. The boots are great.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    Casual day perfection.

  • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

Not a big fan of light jeans or knee boots, so this is just meh for me.

  • nannypoo

Super cute. The boots are fabulous.

  • MsALVA

Those boots are all “yeah, my husband is Sexiest Man Alive. Suck it, bitches”.

  • Kenisha Hill Phillips

    Dear boots,

I need you in my life. Make it so.

    Peace out,

    Nisha

    She is SO cute.

  • Annabelle Archer

My jealousy of her knows no bounds.  The hair, the boots, the husband.  Bitch.

  • TieDye64

I’ve always wanted to rock boots like that. She looks fantastic.

  • Imasewsure

Thank god CA Chic no longer includes the obligatory UGGs

  • unbornfawn

    Seems more NorCal than SoCal

    • Melvis Velour

defnitely more NorCal but also definitely a fierce look

      • unbornfawn

        True that.

  • NC_Meg

Give me everything you’re wearing kthnxbye.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/DBSIHWVY4ECXGNXAXFXJMSCNIE Katrin

Just the other day I wore something eerily similar to this. I now feel 73% better about myself. Where’s my slice o’Channing?

  • Trisha26

When was this? It’s been over 80 in LA the last few days…not boots, jeans, sweater, poncho weather.

  • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

She is super cute and I LOVE those boots.

  • veronkimo

lol! Love this! “She’s about 3-and-a-half inches tall”

  • Reneesance

Those boots are to die for, perfect color, momma wants.

  • librarygrrl64

She looks cute and comfortable. Win!

  • 10100111001

they used to have a physical store in boston… alas.. now its all online.

    • librarygrrl64

Not paying shipping is better, but at least they’re still in business. Did you ever buy anything from them?

      • 10100111001

heels. once. tried on a bunch.

        • librarygrrl64

           Not a success?

          • 10100111001

I have weird feet. wide big high arches and long toes.

          • librarygrrl64

Yeah, high arches/instep here, too, but the pair of boots that were a little on the tight side have a little bit of stretch to the fabric, so they worked out okay for me.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Yeah, they’re supposed to come up that high. It’s the thing. She can roll them down too. Cute girl. But can’t get behind the sweater. I eat oatmeal, I don’t wear it.

  • http://www.thechipsterdiaries.blogspot.com/ Jess the Chipster

Why is her hair so SHINY
