IN or OUT: Alicia Keys in Stella McCartney

Posted on November 14, 2012

We swear we’re not putting this up to a vote just to force you all to rail against Stella McCartney again. We genuinely think it’s an interesting enough look to warrant some debate.

Alicia Keys attends the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in Stella McCartney.

Stella McCartney ‘Gibson’ Dress. Gaia Repossi for Alexander Wang Necklace. Gianvito Rossi Two-tone Pointed Toe Pump.

We’re really loving the trend for dark green lately, but it’s not a color for everyone. Alicia’s one of the ones who can work it. We like the color-blocking and how it accentuates her natural curves. What we don’t like is the illusion netting, which looks awful no matter what, but worse when it doesn’t match the wearer’s skin tone. Those seams on her shoulders are distracting. Mentally swap the netting out for an opaque white or cream and the dress automatically looks much better to our eyes.

As for the rest, the hair and makeup are pretty much flawless and we FLOVE those shoes. Seriously killer. The choker, on the other hand, was a terrible idea with that neckline. That was the one thing you should’ve taken off before leaving the house, dear.

Vote Now!

IN! Bold, graphic, and sexy!

OUT! Goofy cartoon dress with questionable accesories!

Christina Hendricks’ dog collar dress got a hale and hearty OUT from the Precious Unborn Fawns.

I HATE that netting.  This is an OUT.

    • I hate the netting AND that false silhouette on this design.  Every time I see it.  Out.

      • i think i’d like the netting replaced w/black. i’m ok w/the false silhouette.
        lie to me, it’s ok.

      • out for a walk

I hate the netting, the false silhouette, AND the choker. And her hair, while I’m at it.

  • I really do not like this haircut on her.  It’s so flat and severe.  Also, no to that netting.

    • Freyja Canidae

also, with that haircut, lipstick and camera angle: is it just me or does she look like parker posey?

      •  Oh my goodness, I wouldn’t have believed it in a million years, but yes.  Parker Posey.  Wow.

I’m on the fence on this one.  She looks great, but it needs so many tweaks…

    • mshesterp

I don’t like it either–and I don’t like the lipstick color OR the dark eye makeup.  It’s rare I disagree so fully with T Lo, but this is one of those times.

The dress isn’t terrible, and I like the green, but the illusion netting sucks.  I thought the choker was part of the dress…glad to know it’s not!  It’s not the worst SMcC, but it doesn’t change my opinion of her as a designer in the slightest.

    • hyperionic

It’s so bad. It just makes her look like a complete knob.

    • NC_Meg

It IS bad. I didn’t even recognize her. (Which is weird because now that I think about it, I don’t know what haircut/do she usually has.)

  • Kirsten Henry

out.  very strange-looking dress, and that choker does it no favors

  • blogless

UGH. She looks like a linebacker. OUT,

    • DeborahJozayt

I don’t think it helps that this dress has the same design concept as Kate Winslet’s Stella M. dress at the Mildred Pierce premiere. In fact, 2 or 3 other dresses have the same illusion.

  • Hate the netting and that choker is ridiculously ugly with that dress.

  • Sobaika

No. No no no no. No to the giant choker, no to illusion netting that has zero chance of blending in, no to Stella McCartney.

  • Illusion netting always screams dance/skating costume to me. That shade of green, however, is delicious.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I love the green as well.  What is it with Stella and these cut-out dresses?  Can’t she make a solid colored dress anymore?

      • She seems to be working through a phase. Lol.

    • cooperalden

Didnt Tootie get knocked off Project Runway for something like this???

    • yeah – the color is Killa as are the shoes.  Not enough to save the look tho. OUT

  • OUT, looks awful from the side.

  • Judy_J

Out.  It IS a goofy cartoon dress with questionable accessories.

  • O.U.T.

  • Sara__B

The netting ruins the whole look. OUT.

  • andreawey

I like it! She looks fabulous!!!

  • SewingSiren

The whole look would be elevated if the illusion netting were (just about any) opaque color.

  • Out – makes her shoulders look too big.

I wish the dress were like the one Kate Winslet wore that had a similar color block.

  • Janet B

Love the green, hate the illusion netting. Love the shoes, hate the choker.

    Hate to say out.

  • belfebe

IN.  I am not enamored of the choker.  She could have done without it.  Other than that, it’s a killer look.

  • I feel like i shouldn’t like this, but I kinda do. I hate the netting, but LOVE the color on her.

  • alyce1213

OUT. Awful netting, bad accessories.  With few unremarkable exceptions, Stella McCartney designs shit.

  • I hate that dress. Stella, please, enough already!

  • Mismarker

Wow, her body is rocking.  Snaps for that.  However, illusion netting just screams Oksana Baiul to me and I feel like everyone and their brother has worn this type of McCartney dress.  Out.

  • lehen

  • In_Stitches

Sometimes, when you ‘force the curve’ with graphic body shaping on a dress, the reverse effect can be had where the wearer looks very thick and stumpy.  That, most certainly, is not the case here.   She looks lean and curvy and I LOVE the green.  The choker was a poor choice, but she’s still IN.

  • I hate her hair.  It looks like something out of The Fifth Element.

  • NCDFan

Hate the choker, the illusion netting is not a match for her skin tone and looks cheap and nasty. OUT

  • TonyGo

Nope.  She looks like a Picasso-Cubist Period.

  • Chartreusite

The choker was definitely a bad idea and the placement of the netting doesn’t feel very smart to me (agreed that it should probably be a white or cream; I lean towards white just for the contrast). However I think the look overall isn’t bad, and I never understood the virulent reaction to Miss Stella as a designer, outside of the sheer nepotism factor. IN for moi.

  • Out, but I would kill for those shoes.

  • Michael_Jones

    Illusion netting. Out. (Enough said.)

  • I love everything so much except the netting and especially the way the armholes are formed. I love the choker: It looks like it’s part of the dress.

    It’s an IN.

  • B_C_J

This dress has been worn in long form in black and white by Gwyneth Paltrow, another celebrity whose name I forget and most recently by Edie Falco.  It’s a very effective dress because it does wonderful things to the wearer’s silhouette but I am tired of seeing it.  Not sure I like the green and it is unfortunate that the netting does not match her skin tone.  However, Ms. Keys is a very beautiful woman and her hair and makeup look great. I agree with TLo that the choker is a mistake.

  • Once again, Stella pushes all my buttons and I just want her to go away.  The netting is awful and while the color blocking does indeed accentuate those curves, it’s doing it in the wrong way and somehow she’s managing to look sausage-y.  I’d cut someone for the shoes, though–totally fab.  Sorry, this is an OUT.

  • crash1212

OUT. Illusion netting always gets an out from me – no exceptions. I do love the hair and make-up though.

  • j_anson

OUT. But is that actually supposed to be illusion netting, or a semi-sheer tan-colored fabric? (I know that sounds like splitting hairs, but illusion netting is supposed to blend in and not be seen, whereas I think this is sheer, but not actually supposed to be invisible; I think it’s supposed to be a visual part of the dress.

Anyway, I think I’d give this an ambivalent IN if it weren’t for that choker, but the choker turns a “maybe” dress into a “definitely, no”, so OUT.

  • Horrible, that netting is. Gorgeous, her hair and face are. What a shame. OUT.

  • AuntJentie

  • I think she looks great, fierce, even. IN.

  • MilaXX

I can’t believe I’m saying this because I HATE illusion netting, but I don’t dislike this. Alicia Keys has been stylistically challenged for some time in my mind. The new haircut has done wonders for her. I would have preferred the netting in a sheer black but this look is not bad. I don’t even mind the choker because it almost looks like part of the outfit. I’mma give this a small IN.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Agree completely.

  • poohbah1

I don’t like the netting. It would have been more daring to have skin.

  • Out. Black & Green w/ White illusion? No. I even kind of like Stella McCartney, but the silhouette thing is starting to be overdone. Doesn’t she know any other gimmicks. And I hate that shade of green. There’s no sophistication to it. It’s just one poorly lit frame away from Kelly.

The shoes, however, are totally bitchin’.

  • As I am all for giving a sometimes questionable designer a chance, I think the idea of this is great.
Yes, poor choice with the illusion netting and this wasn’t the Right choker to wear with the dress. But otherwise, I like it.
Surprised you guys didn’t comment on her hair, which I think looks sleek with the dress but doesn’t really flatter her face.

    •  ”
As for the rest, the hair and makeup are pretty much flawless”

    •   “As for the rest, the hair and makeup are pretty much flawless”

  • snarkykitten

NO NO NO NO NO DEAR GOD NO. It looks like a “classy” ice skater’s costume

  • CheriCPat

She is perhaps the only person who can wear that dress and not look cheap.  I hate the netting too, but not enough to ruin the rest of it, including the shoes (bonus points), the awesome hair and makeup, and even the jewelry, which comes close enough.

  • Joyce VG

I must be ill.  Alicia Keys is killing it in that dress.  IN.  *taking temperature*

  • Out, based on the choker alone. Totally kills what could’ve been a great look.

  • veronkimo

Agree with you on the netting. It is very distracting. I find myself liking this dress for the most part, but that might be because the color is doing most of the work, and it was kept relatively simple. Yes, y’all are so right with the choker. It’s too distracting and just pulls focus. What I don’t agree with you on is the hair. That’s just a personal thing. I think that hairstyle is doing nothing for her. Well, actually I think it ages her. If her hair was just a tad longer, it would be a really cute bob. So, I guess I’m going to vote this OUT. The hair and necklace really kill it for me. Sorry, Keys! Maybe next time.

  • Maybe if that netting was a full-on silver? I like the shape of it, but it always skews old/skater costume.

  • halo323

Out.  The choker kills it for me.

I don’t know what it is about her (ok, in this case it’s the choker), because she is so effortlessly, naturally gorgeous and yet somehow often looks like she’s trying too hard.  I’d love to see her in a more sleek, minimalist look.

  • PrunellaV

I’m sorry, that dress is just sleazy and so unflattering. OUT.

  • cleverlady

Someone needs to have a chat with the UPS man and keep all deliveries of illusion netting from getting to Stella M.  Amirite?

  • MaryAtRealityTea

Hmmm… I like the idea of this, but yes, the illusion netting is a NO unless you’re figure skating in the Olympics. I love the green. That choker is a serious distraction for an already busy dress and seems to be eating her neck. It also makes her head look small. Yeah, this is an OUT, but she looks good in the shape of it.

  • jmorino08

OUT! It was ugly when Kate Winslet wore it earlier this year and it’s ugly now.

  • CPK1

    Stella must be stopped.

  • f_yeah_marie

  • gsk241

The “illusion” I get from that netting is that someone took her apart and put her back together wrong.  Creepy OUT!

  • Chillmer

I hate every single thing she is wearing, including the lipstick. OUT.

  • oohsparkley!

In. She looks fab. But I really wish the illusion netting was a tan/light brown material.

  • VicksieDo

Sorry, I don’t like anything about this look.  The dress is unflattering and weird. The hair is too flat, I hate the orange lipstick. The shoes aren’t too bad, but standard at best.  :-/

  • Tatiana Luján

I totally agree with what you said about the illusion netting and the choker. But I completely disagree whit what you said about the hair and makeup.
That shape of haircut should have been longer to fit her face, I want to pull it down so it doesn’y cut through her jawline. And that red lipstick isn’t her best friend, it’s too hash.

  • luciaphile

This is reminding me of clothing worn on ST:TNG. This is not a good thing. Out.

  • sweet_potato

No, this does not work. OUT.

  • OUT. It’s making her look manish, which is tragic, because above the neck she looks gorgeous. She’s always had an athletic, fit bod, but this dress gives the visual perception that she is thick. Shoes are rockin’, however.

  • jw_ny

This was a tough one…so much looks good and her figure looks amazing, but ultimately the illusion netting and that choker won out and made me have to vote OUT!

  • I’m gonna go IN for being off the beaten path. And because I love me some Alicia.

  • MarissaLG

OUT. The hair and makeup make her look unrecognizable, that necklace is horrendous, and the dress is making her killer body look really wide.

  • l_c_ann

Out, because of the side view.

Side view features droopy boobs and way too many horizontal folds at the tummy (etc) because the size is too tight for her, regardless of the illusion from the front.

  • therealkuri

I think I’d like the dress better if the front and back panels were the same colour. Either both black as in the publicity photo or both panels in the green.

  • julnyes

That necklace choker thing and the netting put this in OUT territory. Which is sad, since this is a great silhouette for her.

  • TheLaurenJean

In! I even love the collar. Girl looks good!

  • Good god, no. The illusion netting makes her look blocky and from the side, it makes her look like her stomach is pooching out.

  • leftcoastpickle

OWT said in the accent of Heidi Klum

  • bellafigura1

    Everything you guys said.

  • trisker

    IN.  She looks amazing.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

    OUT – Ack!

  • Scott Isaacs

Stella kinda disappoints me here. The dress does look better head-on than on profile. On the other hand, this shade of dark green for some reason brings me back to the late ’70s/early ’80s, and not in a good way. Didn’t some Atari games have this color as their background?
In Alicia’s favor, hair and makeup and hair are KILLA. And she is popping it. Girl knows how to pose.
Really, everything but the dress itself is working for me. Tsk. Details. But oh well. Out.

  • I think she looks great so I’m going to give her an IN but I have a question.  What if the illusion netting didn’t go up to her shoulders?  Imagine if the netting just curved or cut across under her arms, it wouldn’t be quite so noticeable then.  To me it’s the seams around her arm and across the shoulders that almost ruin it.

  • hmariec19

The choker was a mistake and I don’t like the illusion netting against her skin.  I do, however, actually like the dress.  Even though it’s by Stella McCartney.

The details are what killed it. OUT.

Those shoes need to be mine.

  • kikisayshi

No n-n-no-no-no. In the style of Mrs. Poole from Small Wonder.

    To clarify, that’s an OUT.

  • jjfg

What anti-grav device is she using for her boobs?  Because as Joanna Coles would say, how is one supposed to wear a bra with that?  She does look pretty fierce, if one overlooks the choker and the illusion netting.  But that’s asking a lot when a significant portion of the dress is illusion netting.  OUT.

  • Cathy S

I don’t like it. It might work if you swapped out the netting as TLo suggested, but since it hasn’t been swapped out, it’s a no.

  • IN. Best I’ve seen her.

  • I give it an OUT, not because it’s Stella, but because this is just too flawed. The illusion netting is the most obvious problem. I feel like the back should be green as well.  I thought the choker was part of the dress (either way, it needs to go).

  • Just say NO to pancake boob.

  • Cute! IN. Mostly because I have no problem with Stella McCartney and like to be contrary.

  • Lola67

I don’t like the illusion netting and agree with TLo that an opaque white or cream would have helped.  Still, I give this an IN. Alicia looks, and more importantly, FEELS smokin’! Love the shoes, hair and makeup. The color is great on her, and I love the bright lips.

  • NO. The netting kills it completely. Out.

  • Jangle57

You should consider posting a picture of someone in a Stella McCartney dress but tell us it’s Prada or Beckham or anyone but Stella and see what we say.  I know some Stella dresses have gotten INs but would be curious if there would be fewer OUTs.  For this one, I was ok with it from the front but then I saw the side shot which I was not ok with.  As long she promises not to turn to the side, IN.

  • OUT! The line over the arms ruins it for me, and I’m not a fan of the collar.

  • demidaemon

The necklace is what pushes it to OUT territory for me. That, and the illusion netting, and, oh, of course the McCartney label. 😉

  • up with pod people

she looks like two different action figures snapped apart and reattached to the wrong parts.

  • another_laura

Out.  I just can’t with that netting.

  • suzq

I don’t mind the netting.  I actually liked the dress better in all-black.  This might just be the first Stella I’ve ever liked.  Gee, these cut-out dresses are becoming all the rage, aren’t they?  This is not the trend to contemplate when preparing for the inevitable eating binge in which I will be engaging this holiday season….

  • teensmom99

She looks good so it’s an IN but basically everything TLo said PLUS somehow it is not attractive on her chestal area.  Design flaw?

  • Didn’t mind the netting when I first saw it, knew you all would hate it.  HATED the choker though…

  • marilyn

Out.  Hate the netting.  She should have either gone for color blocking or cut-outs with net, not both.

  • altalinda

Out for that horrible illusion netting alone.

  • e jerry powell

There are details that are quite questionable, and the outfit as a whole doesn’t thrill me to my soul, but I adore the way that the collar is working with that haircut (but not so much with the dress).

    Still, pretty much OUT.

  • kimmeister

In.  I actually thought the necklace was part of the dress at first!

  • Um…in. I know. I know. I hate Stella as much as any other Bitter Kitten, but I dig that dress. Though the netting needs to go.

  • lalahartma

    Netting = out.

  • Another gimmicky shift with illusion netting.  Yawn.  Now I see the back is black.  Oh gawd…
Who is her customer?  Do they hate wearing bras and panties?  Do they want to look like an apraxic yin yang?
    I can’t.

  • kmk05

Ooooh, am not a fan. The hairstyle is too severe and too flat, and it looks harsh against that orangey colour. And the netting offends me. I love her, but this is an OUT.

  • Stefanos Mantyla

This is a weird one. I think I like the hair and face when I am not looking at it, but not when I actually am looking at it. It just does not look like her. I guess that means I like it, but only in theory.

As for the rest, too many missteps to qualify as an IN, so I guess it’s OUT.

  • I like it! I don’t even mind illusion netting that much when it’s not really trying to be an illusion. Agree that the choker is wrong but still IN

  • Agree w/ T-Lo’s assessment but does anyone else hate that lipstick?  Ugh.

  • Noelle Haland

ILLUSION NETTING MUST DIE!!!  The green is quite lovely, but I the awful netting & the choker really do ruin the look for me.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

OUT. She looks like a putt-putt course. I love the necklace, shoes, and color but the ensemble doesn’t work.

  • TieDye64

Oooooh, not digging the illusion netting AT ALL. That alone makes it an OUT for me.

  • Snailstsichr

OUT. I feel like a peeping Tom when I look at her, especially the last image. This is not good illusion netting.

  • YoungSally

For me it’s an out…but considering it’s Alicia Keys….she of always one (or six) too many things going on….it’s an in.

Using the same logic, it would also rate an in for Paz…if she was clean.

  • It’s an IN from me. Yes, I hate the illusion netting, and the necklace is all wrong, but there’s something about what it does for her figure, and that really nice green, that win me over.

  • TSkot

Like it in all black; might have liked it in all green, but HATE the hair, regardless:  OUT

  • formerlyAnon

    Out. But a close thing.

Fabric instead of illusion netting is non-negotiable. I also don’t like the collar/necklace, it is neither severe enough (IMO) to complete the look the hair + dress + shoes seem to be making (should have had solid, minimal lines, not that crazy lacy work), nor is it elaborately standout enough to justify it’s prominence if it’s supposed to stand out and be a focal point.

  • Jessi03

I like it from the front, but really not from the sides.  The netting gives me the eye twitchies.  But it’s the most positive reaction I’ve ever had to a Stella dress, so I guess IN?  Oh dear, what have I done.

  • unbornfawn

Hair and make-up look good to me. Hate the choker. The shoes are wonderful.  The fit is good on her, but, as always with Miss Stella, things are off. The green in front is good, but it needs to be the same color in the back, one too many design elements. That side cut out is the shape of a pregnant woman’s belly, this is not a good thing. The girl is working the look like crazy and for that she just gets the IN.

  • Zippypie

Jesus wept, that is seriously one ugly dress.  Can we please ban illusion netting from everything but ice skating/dance costumes PLEASE!  Alicia’s got a bangin bod and she looks all lumpy and odd with the cutouts and curves and colorblocking mess that is this dress.  OUT.

  • random_poster

Followed instructions and mentally swapped the netting out for an opaque white or cream.  Yowza, that!
It’s an OUT for me, however.  That netting is hideous.

  • guest2visits

This is a tacky dress to me.  Alicia’s hair and make-up are pretty though.

  • caitlincactus

there’s just no world in which netting doesn’t make me think of figure skating. and not in a good way.

  • imakeart

Terrific necklace with the completely wrong dress.  The green is a good color for her, but who can see it with that horrid lipstick?

  • lesmaha

    I just can’t with that illusion netting–sorry–OUT.

  • So close. But OUT. It’s like it’s trying to be a Jessica Rabbit dress but not succeeding. And the choker would work much better as a bracelet.

  • OUT.

  • Call me Bee

Yeah, why not.  It’s MTV, fer cripes sake, so what better venue to wear the most crazy-ass dress you can find?!  IN!

  • Lily-Rygh

OUT OUT OUT.  While I do appreciate the shoes, they aren’t anywhere near fierce enough to cancel out the pure bullshittery of  that netting, or the ridiculously misused choker.  Not even close on this one.

  • out. can’t sign off on that netting. or choker.

  • quiltrx

OUT.  That dress is psycho and makes her look thick from the side, which she most certainly is not.

But those shoes are magical.  And they even look comfortable…that extra ‘collar’ looks like it would prevent that ankle-rubbing pain from a lot of pumps.

  • margaret meyers

Out.  I hate all of it.

  • neofashionista

OUT anything with that much badly matched illusion netting is an automatic out no matter how awesome the other stuff is

  • Trisha26

  • IN for me.

  • i disagree about the illusion netting. i dont think its supposed to be
‘invisible’ here. the netting is used as a design element, so it
actually looks better on somebody with a different skin tone.

the look is not perfect, but i give this an IN, for being kind of sharp and interesting.
my main problem is the hair, which i dont think suits her.

  • MzzPants

I might be the lone bitter kitten who thinks this is an ‘IN’.  Not a ‘werq’, but not ‘out’ either.

  • Louise Bryan

OUT on account of the netting.  Why?  Netting makes for fascinating ice skating costumes.  In tiny doses it can make for interesting effects.  Replacing a quarter of a dress with it?  No, just no.

The dog collar choker definitely did not help.

  • MightyMarshal

IN. I love this dress, and I even like the illusion netting. The necklace was the wrong choice, though.

  • barbarienne

I agreed with you guys on every point before I even got to your commentary. Love the killa shoes, hate the netting. The problem for me with the illusion netting is that it’s neither betwixt nor between. Either it should match her skin and really do the job illusion netting is supposed to do (which seems silly on the shoulder portion of this dress, regardless), or it should really stand out. As it is, it looks as if the dress was made for some other (paler) woman, who changed her mind and so it got handed off to Alicia.

I love that necklace, but yes, not with this neckline.

I’m so glad dark green is back in fashion. I look amazing in any shade of green, and for the first time in a couple of years, I’m finding clothes I like.

  • briecee

OUT.  But it’s the least I’ve hated anything Stella McCartney, so that’s a kind of IN, isn’t it?

  • IN. It would’ve been better with the illusion netting and with the choker off, but she looks good enough to me.

  • ojosazules

I hate the dress, but she is rocking it. In.

  • in

  • curiouserandcuriousest

Oh dear. I’m sure the kittens have settled this already, but this is an OUT for me. Whatever ‘flattering’ effect we get from the front is completely ruined by the side view. Half-assed dress. Great shoes.

  • RzYoung

Love the green, love the shoes, love the hair but fuckinghatethefuckinguglystelladress!

  • sunandmoon24

In! I love her hair and makeup. The dress is not bad…but you’re right, that choker is horrible

  • Marcela86

IN, It’s not perfect, but it works in my opinion!

  • In! With the same reservations about the netting and the choker. She looks happy because she thinks she looks good and that goes a long way.

  • I don’t hate the Stella like most of the Kittens, and this isn’t enough to be an out for me, so I vote IN.

  • The choker sends it over the OUT line.  If it were a bracelet and the netting were opaque, then there might be a good outfit there, but as it is, no.

  • Aurumgirl

Yup, any solid coloured fabric replacing the netting would have made the dress a knockout.  A good designer knows this, a Stella McCartney thinks she’ll break a rule by using ice skating costumery instead.   I’d have kept the necklace, and chosen another dress.

  • CatherineRhodes

  • tereliz

Close. I feel like this would be an IN with black netting.

  • stubbornthoughts

HATE that hair. She is such a beautiful woman, that hair is an absolute injustice to her.

  • Yep, visible illusion netting = skating costume, no exceptions, and it’s also an unfortunate choice for the cutout inserts because you can see in the side shot, the shadows cast by her ribs, and the fact that like most human beings she has a stomach.  That ripply shadow effect on her side makes her look like she’s got a paunch when she doesn’t.  Add the dog collar and it’s an out.

  • Agreed on the choker, makes her look boxy. Other than that I’d say an “IN”

  • mike__tv

Hair, OUT. Choker, Out. Netting, Out. It just kinda all sucks.

  • I have had a girl-crush on her for a while-but I actually hate the hair. To my eye, the length seems to hit at a very wrong spot along her face/jawline, lengthening her (insanely beautiful) face. I want to say “Gurrl” in a Jujubee (RPDR) voice to her-just for the hair. And she needs some bangs or at least a side swoop fringe.
ETA: I’m not signing off on the makeup either, eyeliner is making her eyes look wonky and I don’t like that lip color.

  • Not the worse McCartney creation I’ve seen, but I can’t with that netting, and Alicia’s hair doesn’t work. OUT

Illusion netting, especially when it doesn’t match the wearer’s skin? Always OUT.

  • Candigirl1968

OUT.  The netting makes me want to poke out my own eyes.

  • Illusion netting makes this an automatic OUT. ICK.

  • PeaceBang

IN! The netting is yucky and the collar doesn’t work but the overall total sell (and I DIE over the shoes) is fierce.

    Hate the hair. Out.

  • sleepycat

I like this look, however the hair is all wrong IN

  • plinkiedoodle

Out.  Looks like a prototype for an ice skating costume.  Slide on, my friend.

    And Stella strikes once again.
Actually, I’m too harsh here, because the black version is quite nice.
Alicia’s version’s bad. I don’t like the deep green paired with the black AND the illusion neting that’s not so much an illusion since we actually see it pretty well.
I don’t know if it’s still time to vote (didn’t check while commenting on the Alison Williams’ post), but it’s an out for me.
Shame, because she looks put together : nice hair, nice shoes, not too much jewellery, make up OK even if the lipstick’s a little to orange for my taste…

  • Holy hell, no! Bad haircut for her, ORANGE lipstick, the shape of the blocking looks good from the front, but it makes her look like a brick from the side, and that netting…that SHINY netting…just awful.  That necklace is awesome, but not with that dress.  I like the shoes…I think.

    OUT. Hate it

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Horrible, hideous illusion netting.  Dislike the hair, also.  OUT.
