Emma Stone in Burberry Prorsum

Posted on November 14, 2012

Every morning, fashion bloggers across the land sip their coffee and ask themselves the eternal question, “Should we start with something pretty or something not-so-pretty?” You, lucky readers, are reading T Lo, and thus, you get something pretty to start off the day. But that’s because we have some serious not-so-pretty in the pipeline and we’re kindhearted enough to want you to ease into it.

Emma Stone attends The Ninth Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in Burberry Prorsum.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Moa Aberg

See? Pretty!

Maybe not earth-shattering or anything, but cute and polished. We’re going to pretend we’re fashion editors and proclaim, based entirely on these pictures, that the blue-green combo is “HOT!” for the coming holiday season. And by that we mean, as do fashion editors when they make the same kinds of pronouncements, that we have decided that’s the color combo we want to be hot at the moment. But it makes a great holiday look, no? Can’t we all retire the tired old holiday red for just one season? Doesn’t she look ready to deck those halls in style? We say yes. And because we’re pretend-fashion editors at the moment, we’re ordering you to say yes too.

No, really. She looks cute and the colors look great on her.

Tasteful shoes… no clod hoppers, huge platforms, or atrocities to take away from the look.  Luv her!

    • Mismarker

Love it all.  Wear it better than the runway model.  I want that nail color.

      • http://twitter.com/C8LINC Caitlin

It looks so close to Fishnet Stockings by Essie. It’s amazing!

    • SewingSiren

I love green for the holidays. Especially sparkly or iridescent  green. I don’t care if it’s trendy. I actually prefer to be the only one wearing it. Dark blue and gold always look good together. So the Possum’s done good this time.

    • http://twitter.com/sebwfu Shannon Beamer

I really have nothing to say but GIMME THAT SKIRT.  So.shiny.

    • In_Stitches

Too much shine for separates.  I’d prefer a tweed pencil skirt with that top or a white oxford shirt with that skirt to give it some balance.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I love it.  I’m not 100% sold on the peplum, just b/c I hate them in general, but she looks great.

    • gabbilevy

Agreed! This should look tacky: shiny blue bustier with a peplum, full-on sequin skirt, but she’s rocking it.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

I do really love the colors!  Overall it’s a great look.  Just a little bare up top – I think because her skin is so pale and its a stark contrast to the dress (she can wear these colors – no problem) – but would a necklace of any kind be too much?

    • http://twitter.com/jack_attack88 Jackie Stewart

I love her!! I wish I could afford this, because I’d be wearing it for the holiday season.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Pretty and polished from tip to toe. Her hair looks adorable, the makeup is just right, and I desperately want her skirt. Is it possible to go wrong with Burberry?

      • 3boysful

Agree, and I really like her hair like this.  Tres cute.

    • Diane_G

I love the contrast of fabric with two different types of shiny. It’s not too much for this time of year and for an awards show. Pretty much perfect, except I’d add a necklace or earring or..SOMETHING to it.

    • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

All I can think of is mermaids and Doris Day… I keep waiting for her to break out into a stirring rendition of “Part of Your World!”

    • DinahR

I do love this! And you two are my real-pretend fashion editors, so I am on board with this color combo being HOT for this season.  I love it with the gold shoes ala the runway, but she also looks beautiful.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I do love the colors, full on; both as a combination of themselves, and for her. I’m not totally loving the shape of the top, and that pleated peplum thingy.

    • A B

Super pretty!  Just wish she wasn’t blending in with that hedge in the background!

    • nannypoo

Beautiful. I’m glad her skirt is shorter than the model’s. Her makeup looks great, and I even like the big blond hair. I wouldn’t change a thing.

    • lehen

i thought “holiday ready” when i saw this as well.  she looks adorable.

    • dsco3031

I love everything about this and I want her haircut.

    • SneakyKitty

Love it.  Look at those tasteful shoes!  Oh, Emma, girl after my own heart.  Finally loving her as a blonde.  I know it’s her natural color, but for the longest time I thought she looked better as a redhead.

    • Tatiana Luján

Is she coming to find the appropriate shade of blonde for her?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Great little dress for her and her hair and make-up look perfect.

    • Jen Craigslist

I prefer the model’s longer hem and yellow-gold shoes. Sassy.

    • Ozski

Flawless! When I first saw the whole look it reminded me of a peacock. I mean that as a compliment. Great colors.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Well, she already looks a bit like a Christmas ornament, epecially against those evergreens (by the way? WORST BACKDROP EVER for this outfit). Very shiny and perky.

    • Kristina Toma

      J’adore. She looks perfect.

    • http://twitter.com/HeckYeahHeckNo KC

I love the outfit, so cute. And I think the blonde looks great on her but for whatever reason it just doesn’t look like “her”, which makes no sense, lol since she’s a natural blonde. I guess I’m so used to the red hair that everytime I see her as a blonde it feels like it isn’t her real hair color.

    • GorgeousThings

Love that outfit! I’m not digging her hair these days.

Any idea whose bracelet that is? That caught my eye immediately. Gorgeous!

      • MilaXX

I know it’s likely not the same, but it reminds me a little of one of the bracelets in yesterday’s bauble post.

    • TieDye64

Hooray for the blue and green. While the look here may not be earth shattering, it is very pretty. Love it.

    • Michael Owens

She’s as cute as a button.

    • http://twitter.com/Danielavr1991 Daniela

Love the fact that she shortened the skirt, looks much better like this :)

    • Michelle Cunningham

The proportions are making her look a little small of boob and long of torso but the jewel colors are lovely.

    • http://twitter.com/miamoreno_ Mia

      Beautiful! Head-to-toe perfection.

    • MarissaLG

      I love the natural makeup

    • filmcricket

Funny, I was just thinking that I wished her shoes were the same colour as her manicure, just to have a little pop of red there, or at least that she had a deeper lip, but I do love the blue/green combo. That shade of blue is very difficult to work with, but that skirt fits the bill beautifully. Generally I hate peplums, but she’s such a wee lady that she can pull it off. Cute!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

I do love that color combo. DO celebs get told what color the backgrounds are going to be before they go these things? She looks like she is half-ninja because of that hedge.

    • clevRcat

      yes too

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I love it too.  I remember a dress like this from – and don’t shudder – the late 80’s – during the winter season cocktail parties and such.  I loved those colors and the way the dresses were cut and this reminds me of that.  Everything else from the late 80’s makes me go in the closet and rock back and forth.  I like how pulled together she looks.  Thank you for giving us something lovely this morning… but what’s coming up next?

      • l_c_ann

        Some guesses:
Heidi’s other seven Versace dresses from Germany
        The vampires (etc.) do London

Dressing to stab colleagues in the back on the Today Show?

    • Janet B

One of my favorite color combinations.

    • decormaven

Is that a real hedge behind her, or an arranged greenery backdrop? She looks pin sharp- too bad we can’t see more details due to the  background color. That is an interesting bracelet. Love!

    • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

I love the look and the colors overall, but I’m having a small issue with the teeny-bust seaming in the bustier, which we’ve seen a few times lately.  And if you look at the close-up in the third picture, it’s turning her bust into tiki eyes, complete with a nose.  There.  Unsee it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

I just realized how tiny she really is

    • ojosazules

Lovely colors for the holidays. She looks very cute, and I love her hair.
I actually prefer the greenery to those logo advertisement thingies.

    • MaryanneGirl

She looks so lovely, no complaints, no ragging on her…but I will say that I miss her beautiful red hair. Whether that was natural or not, I think it looks great. I think the blonde washes her out a tad. (This all could be stemming from my deep long-lived obsession with wanting red hair…)

    • Judy_J

I’ve always loved the blue/green combo, so I’m fine with this.  I like the shorter length on Ms Stone, too.  Very pretty.

    • MilaXX

She does look great and I’d love to see some non traditional holiday looks like this.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

Wow. She looks stunning! Love these jewel tones on her and her haircut is so flattering. It’s so nice to see a lady star with a nice polished hairstyle, instead of yoga or cockerspaniel hair.

    • f_yeah_marie

      I wish she’d be a redhead again

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

Adorable. Those are great colors on her and I love love love the hair.

    • J. Preposterice

I guess this tired old green Old Navy top with a blue cami underneath that I am wearing today because it was the only thing clean in my drawers is STYLIN’, then. Go me!

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

So glad she skipped the gold shoes–they are too much on the model.  She looks pretty, festive, and polished–a great combo!

    • Anathema_Device

I love blue and green together, so I’m fine with that combo being “HOT” for the holiday season. Love this look on her. Too bad the skirt is a sparkly version of the backdrop, though. It loses a little of its impact against that green wall.

    • PinkLemon

like one Lola Heatherton, she’ll deck those christmas halls then break your gd christmas BALLS.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Love the fabrics, love the color combo, love everything about it.

    • LLuL

Unlike KStew, Miss Emma does not have a face that can handle makeup. She looks so much prettier in the gal on the street photos, or when she lines only her upper lid.

    • altalinda

Best she’s looked in ages.  I wish the top had straps, but that’s a quibble.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

      I want it.

    • Noelle Haland

Super pretty!  I love the color combo, though I appreciate the longer skirt on the runway version a bit more.  Her hair is lovely, too, and I love the shoes. Well done!

    • SophiaPehawkins

She looks amazing. Nothing I would change.

    • Dhammadina

      Shiny mermaid cute.

    • oohsparkley!

I love this so much, I’m going to pretend it’s me. I do have a somewhat similar hairstyle. I’d wear some chunky, sparkley necklace with it.

    • Mary_Shelley

      OMG she’s tiny.

    • Kate4queen

I actually really like this despite myself. LOL

    • jw_ny

I’m wearing blue and green combo right now! So very on trend (shhhh, hehe…blue sweat pants and an old blue/green striped sweater)  ;)

As for Emma…she looks great, especially her hair and makeup.  I wasn’t entirely sold on the outfit until I saw the last pic. She looks awkward because she appears to not know what to do with her arms and feet.  Needs to work on her posing.

    • miagain

      She looks lovely!

    • snarkykitten

that’s a really nice color combo on her…but the bodice looks like it’s slowly slipping down. It looks that way on the model too, so idk

    • MaryAtRealityTea

Navy is a fantastic color on her. She’s such a beautiful girl.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

Beautiful but I think the dress calls for a brighter/deeper lip tone.

    • lizlemonglasses

I love that she isn’t spray-tanned to an orange oblivion and PLEASE EMMA DON’T GO DOWN THE LOHAN ROAD MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT

    • bellafigura1

This just makes me happy.  Top to toe to fingertips.

    • http://kittysdrawings.com Esz

Love it but I like the length better on the model.

Definitely all over sparkly green for Xmas – it’s just what I’m planning to wear too. And red is always out cos it clashes with the locks

    • Beth G

Cute cute.  Still wish she’d go back to red hair… I know blonde is her natural color but she’s so freaking amazing as a red-head.

    • guest2visits

Very pretty, but I still like the proportions better on the model.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

PIty about the backdrop.  Who makes these bad decisions anyway?

    • neofashionista

Love this it is a perfect christmas party outfit wish it was in my budget

    • maggiemaybe

So pretty! And those shoes are rockin’ my world.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Navy and hunter green – currently my FAVORITE color combination. I LOVE it!

    • rh33

      Hooray for a beautiful pump!

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Total agreement from this kitten. I love the color combo and it’s fabulous on her.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Love it! I promise to promote the color combo and credit you with the trend.

    • sweetlilvoice

Super cute, but some jewelry would have been good too.
