no no no, perfect shoes for such a horrible dress??¡?¡

      • http://twitter.com/k8twolf Katie Wolf

        Solid burn, +1

    • Imasewsure

Hate that top… either love or loathe those shoes… but she looks beautiful anyway

    • http://twitter.com/k8twolf Katie Wolf

Wish I could unsee this. That is all.

      • Mismarker

Sand paper to the eyeballs? I’ll let you know if it works!

        • DeborahJozayt

Eye bleach works pretty well, no physical strain required!

    • Vera L-

She looks beautiful from the chest up, hate the bare waist, undecided about the shoes.

    • http://geekentertainment.tv irinaslutsky

      ribs!

    • crash1212

I’m not a fan of the bare belly and I normally loathe open toed booties – however – somehow, someway she is making all  the things I dislike work like nobody’s business. At least to my eye, this is a win. I can’t believe I just typed that.

      • MissAmynae

‘Zactly. Only on fr. Kruger does this work. Not a look for amateurs!

      • mshesterp

I know–it’s amazing!  If the skirt were shorter (and it showed off the shoes) I would like it more.  It’s too unbalanced.  But in general, something that is horrifying in theory looks…kinda stylish on the Krug.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I realize that we are talking about an event in LA. But it is nearly December. Bare waist?  Not so much.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

      I adore those shoes!

    • Judy_J

Not a fan of the bare midriff.  This one looks like they ran out of fabric when making the blouse.

    • gabbilevy

      no, Diane. Not even you.

      • Mismarker

^Yes.  My immediate thought was “well, if anyone can pull this off, it’s Diane Kruger”.  But, she’s not pulling it off.  I would recommend her pulling it off, placing it in a trashcan, and lighting a match.  She could give the shoes to me.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I wish she would wear her hair that way more often. Also, her booties are to die for and frankly, I think she looks fantastic. If you’re going to pull off a midi, that’s how you do it.

    • ohayayay

      Carrie Bradshaw.

      • H3ff

        Circa 2000/2001.

    • lrober03

The crop top is more flattering here than I normally think it is, but that doesn’t mean I don’t loathe crop tops

    • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

The bare midriff is pretty bad, but my biggest problem here is how awkward the skirt is, both on Diane and the model. It’s such a weird length for a full skirt and it makes it look too big even though it fits both of them as intended…

    • julnyes

Diane Kruger continues to dress like someone 10 years younger than herself.

    • teensmom99

This kind of bare midriff on a very styled outfit always makes me think Veronica Lodge.

    • mjude

      love the shoes…only

    • AuntieAnonny

I think I’m over her? Yeah.  One Hit Wonder, etc.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Why does this work? It should not work, but it is working. Her bag even has a perfect princess glint in the first photo. She knows, too. She knows this is pure fashion psychosis and that she looks like a million buck anyway. Ms. Kruger is so, so pretty; those shoes are so, so ugly.

    • alyce1213

What a stupid dress, just stupid.  The shoes are a whole nother story.

      • http://twitter.com/ladonnazc LaDonna Carpenter

You completely read my mind…I covet those shoes so much!

    • Trisha26

Nothing says “sexy” more than the exposed ribs in the last shot. Hate bare midriff styles – the outfit would be so chic without.

    • BrooklynBomber

      What gives, Diane Kruger?

    • procrastinatrice

Hate the top, the skirt, the bare midriff, the shoes…and her face is so blah in these photos, especially in the second and last photo. Not much in that facial expression that would launch a thousand ships…

      • Mismarker

In the last photo, with her shoulders askew, she looks like she’s being manipulated by a puppeteer.

    • Joanie Hunt

How is this even A Thing?

    • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

Once again, I can only think WTF? at the notion of her being some sort of fashionista. I just want to laugh at every picture of her.

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

Gah! So cute from the waist down…

    • Sara__B

      It’s… She… Satin belly top?… I just can’t.

    • marilyn

There is nothing good about the “Grease” reject ou-fit.  The shoes make it worse.  If she is going for a camp outfit, she should not have done Alice in Wonderland hair and makeup.  The ou-fit is outrageous, and it should have had wacko shoes, wacko makeup and wacko hair.  Where is Katy Perry when you need her?  Her stylist would have taken care of this.

    • julesj

      It’s almost winter.

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Love the booties, hate the pieces above it. HATE. I will never, ever understand the “gap between skirt and top” thing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

She’s just fucking with us, right? She looks ridiculous.

    • pookiesmom

      NO. Just no.

    • bertkeeter

      Fire…no better shoot that STYLIST!

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

NO. It will always be a “NO” if there’s a belly shirt involved.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I think she looks fantastic.  And I would stab a b*tch for those shoes.

    • margaret meyers

The little shoes make the outfit.

    • ccm800

she just strikes me as a miserable B

    • TieDye64

WHY?!? That’s some silly looking shit there. On the other hand her face looks gorgeous.

    • pulpytomato

Only a few people could pull this off. Diane Kruger is one of them. I love the risks she takes (and her shoes).

    • nannypoo

If this is the best she can do she should probably just stay home.

    • ankali

She’s making the outfit work as well as it can be worked, which is to say that the clothes are bad but she somehow looks OK regardless. The shoes are so Chanel it hurts (in this case a good thing, and perhaps part of what is making this not a complete miss for me).

    • http://twitter.com/dianasof Diana

i actually think that if she had worn a different crop top and different shoes she could have made it work, or at least look a bit fun. also, did she really have to bend her torso like that in the last picture?

    • mmc2315

Hm.  I don’t really dig Diane Kruger’s ever changing style.  I find her looks to be all over the board.  I suppose one could argue she’s having fun with fashion, but it’s too much.

    • quiltrx

Send those shoes to HBC, who will know precisely how to deploy them (and pick an awesome purse to go with).

That outfit is like  Gutter Dior for Whores.

    • MilaXX

works better with a causal shoe/bag. Also I think the look is too young for her.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I love her ensemble.  If only the days of ocean cruising were not practically over, this would be a perfect shipboard outfit.  I can just see Ginger wearing something like this as Fred pirouettes her across the starboard bow.  The shoes are a terrible choice, though.  Great shoes, just not with that outfit.

    • Corsetmaker

I don’t dislike this but it’s out of context. I could see it working better in Cannes with a pop of colour in the accessories.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I love this but it’s wrong too.  It’s 1940’s as others have said, so it’s the wrong era.  And it’s for either a warmer season or a warmer climate as others have said – Why don’t people think about the context in which they wear darling clothing?

    • guest2visits

How perfect this would have been if it were a dress and not a crop-top with skirt. Love her styling and the shoes too.

    • nicewilliams

This is magical.  The fact that she can pull this off makes her less human than me.  (Nay on the shoes though)

    • Marian Humin

      OMG….the shoes!!!!!!!  I’m in love!

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I love the shape of the skirt, and in a print, with a headscarf and big sunglasses in mid-summer, it’d be great. In winter, not so much.

    • Jean Marie Downing

Every time I see Ms. Kruger I have one consistent response:

I must give her snaps for her courageous fashion efforts.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

         Perfect deployment of Clueless reference!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NUZ2RGIDRXKK6ADHFPPCR6S3WI MariaM

I kind of love it.  It’s not for anyone without a fashion PhD, but she has one. It’s a bare midriff, but somehow it looks like “nude colorblocking.”  Shoes are kind of crazy awesome and her face and hair are just beautiful.  I’d never wear it, but on her I think it’s kind of fabulous.

    • decormaven

Proportions of the look are off, and we won’t even go there on the bare midriff and that silly white belt. Clutch too shiny as well. Save those shoes for a more winning look. That is one tiny waist for a grown woman, though.

    • renad

The skirt would be awesome paired with a tissue thin cashmere sweater and closed toe booties. The crop top, which manages to be both 1955 and 1985 at the same time, needs to be beaten to a pulp with the heel of those booties.

    • warnerave

the cute top would probably go well with a pair of pants

    • kschwarting

As buff and stylish as she is, this still doesn’t work.  Her hair and makeup look great, though.
