Dakota is putting the sexy on with static electricity coming out of her hair.

  • MoHub

Gown pretty; hair and makeup skeery!

  • Allyson Wells

What is up with this child’s hair? (ok, not a child) I think the dark hair is pretty on her, but it looks terribly styled in every picture i’ve seen!

    • CurbGirl

Perhaps she has an irrational fear of combs.

    • j_anson

It was always pretty staticky and flyaway, but it wasn’t as obvious when she had very light blond hair because it just didn’t register as much. I get the impression she has really fine, difficult to work with hair.

      • boredbyopen

But the main point is, if you have fine and flyaway hair, you learn to live with it and to style it. It is not an excuse. She has a hair stylists for god’s sake (or if she doesn’t, she has the money to hire one)! (Yes, I am bitter because I have to manage on my own.)

Coming from experience, darling, invest in some matifying powder.

        •  Well, not like I’m making beaucoup bucks like Dakota, but I have fine, difficult to work with hair, and I’ve yet to meet a hairstylist who can actually style it well at just about any price point. Same shitty styling, whether it’s the small salon or the ritzy one in town. I’m sure there’s a stylist out there who could do better for her, but it really can be hard to find someone who can work with more difficult hair types.

          • I’m going to agree with starrika. I have similar hair that is difficult to work with. It’s fine, but there’s a lot of it, so when I try to create volume through styling products, tools and teasing it falls flat within an hour because the hair is too fine to hold the structure. It also refuses to hold curl and is silky (to a fault) so it slips out of curling irons and most hair styles. Stylists don’t do much better. The only way to get any texture and volume is to muss it up like Dakota did above. I don’t think the hair is bad, but the bed head look doesn’t go with the dress.

          • smallgirlsaretrouble

Oh I hear you ladies.  I have super fine, silky hair and not even a can of hairspray can hold it in a nice up-do for more than an hour or so.  I have pretty much given up on anything other than a low ponytail/low bun.  Le sigh.

          • ourabsent

Exactly  – I have the same type of hair and no matter what the fancy pants hair dresser does, it falls flat w/in an hour unless you mess it up, use tons of dry shampoo, etc.

    • 3boysful

No way, ya’ll.  She was smoking a joint in the back of the limo.

  • Imasewsure

Yuck to the hair, minor yuck to the dress… it’s not a good thing when I look at an entire RC ensemble and think… “Wow I love that nail color!”

  • Does the poor girl not own a brush?

    • Sobaika

I think she’s aiming for sexy and tousled and failing.

  • I like the dress better in dark navy (on the model) — completely changes the attitude of the piece.

    • call_me_schmeg

i think it is the dark navy, it’s just reading as a muddy black. or, maybe it’s just black.

    • lol, it is navy, just the lighting is different. Your computer screen might be misleading you.

  • MrsMaxPower

I want to like this, but just can’t…I’m not quite sure why. She’s seriously giving Frances Bean Cobain vibes with her new look.

    • Lilak

Ahh…that’s what it is!  Couldn’t put my finger on it.
One less thing nagging at me –Thanks.

  • MilaXX

Why can she not comb her damned hair? I like the look, the makeup is decent, but the hair looks KStew levels of dirty & greasy.

  • decormaven

Such an interesting ring & pretty clutch to accessorize the gown, and it’s paired with this hair? No, no, no.

  • TieDye64

The dress looks lovely, but that is up with the hair? It doesn’t look sexy, it just looks like she need to rake a brush through it.

  • alyce1213

The dress is not bad, but she’s bringing it down.

  • nannypoo

I like it, except of course for the messy hair. Her makeup is sexy and pretty.

    • Kristin McNamara

Her make-up is great! SHE’S FOUND EYELINER!

    • ankali

This is the best makeup I’ve ever seen her in.

  • andreawey

I think she looks great, love the dress, love the clutch and ring, I even like the hair, it looks windy, totally age appropriate:)

  • Annabelle Archer

I like the messy hair. I like the makeup. I am not liking the dress, but I don’t really know why.  The fit maybe? Somehow it’s making her look younger again and I thought she was moving away from that.

  • That hair color would do lovely things for her eyes/complexion if she could just keep the hair off of her face!!

  • Miss Dakota mixed up “sexy tousled” hair with “bed head”. Oh honey, no.

  • poggi

The dress does not fit her well in the bust.  The seems cut across her bust and looks odd.

  • bertkeeter

Chic and modern….Love the “faggoting” detailing…..hate the name!

  • Joyce VG

What a pretty dress! I love it.

  • moreteawesley

I actually love this, I think she looks fantastic. The darker hair really works for her – her eyes pop like crazy and she looks way less washed out – though of course it is in dire need of a brushing in these photos.

  • J. Preposterice

I love the dress, but looking at it, I feel like maybe the reason K.Stew was wearing the yellow Dior is that Dakota snuck over and swapped their dresses around.

  • Eh.  Neither she nor the dress is (are?) moving me at all.

  • j_anson

Love the dress. Makeup… somewhat better, which is a low bar?

  • PeaceBang

Love the dress! Her startled expression suggests that perhaps a flock of bats just flew into her hair.

  • jw_ny

I really like the whole look…has a bit of edge to it, rather than her usual cute.  The messy hair would be better without the fly-aways tho (of course), but that style with the soft curls suits her as well does her makeup.

  • marilyn

Is she trying to go vampire?  She has home done messy Kristin Stewart hair.

  • Set this dress free – maybe Sandra Bullock will find it.

  • That is a great dress. Not sure it’s the right one for Dakota, but still – really great!

  • She looks better than usual.  I like the makeup.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Where did her neck disappear to? Dress is fine, by the way. But her hair looks like she just came in from a rainstorm, and the way it’s hanging makes her neckless.

  • crash1212

Cute enough. I just don’t dig her as a brunette….like blondie version better.

  • luciaphile

Do none of the Fanning girls have good posture? For the love of God, honey, stand up straight. And go brush your hair.

  • kolokOlchik

If it wasn’t for the hair, I’d say this’d be her personal best

  • Genevieve LeFluer

I feel like her hair is messy because they tried to give it more volume than her hair will ever be able to achieve.

  • Kenisha Hill Phillips

    Chignons are your friend.

  • Cheesely

  • Rebecca Jay

Why do they have to grow up?

  • lucasuk82

I like the cocktail ring and love the dress – Aniston take note, this is how to make a long black gown interesting. The darker hair is looking a little less sophisticated and a little more rebellious teenager; I think something a bit lighter and more auburn might suit her better.

  • She looks great and she looked evil great in the movie too!

  • quiltrx

I loved this when I thought it was a jumpsuit…you know, sort of the coked-out 70s girl trying to decide whether to jump off the balcony or not vibe.

Dress, it’s actually kind of heavy-looking.  And I just realized that isn’t trim (which I liked), but open areas with thread bridges.  It looks better where the lining is than where it’s not.  And the bodice should come up a bit higher (or a steeper angle on the v of the neckline).

So maybe I don’t like it as much as I thought.

Oh, and…Courtney Love called, and wants her Hole-era hairstyle back. I think you should give it to her.

  • librarygrrl64

Pretty gown, but she really needs to figure out what to do with that hair.

  • lesmaha

is there a hairbrush shortage that I haven’t heard about?

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

What a tiny little person.  But she needs to comb that hair and spray it down with Aqua Net.

  • Pretty enough dress, and her makeup looks good (and I LOVE that hair color), but did she fall asleep in the car on the way over? Did she have a quickie in the back seat with one of the werewolves and forget to fix her hair? SOMEONE should have told her that one side of her hair looked slept on.

  • plinkiedoodle

Brush your hair or go home.

  • Dagney

She needs a little Draperizing.  as in Betty.

  • Hate the hair. Bodice makes her look flat and wide. I like the the dress in general though. I think an updo might have raised the look a ton.

  • Kind of young for the JBF hair look.

  • lalahartma

    I love it.

  • amaranth16

Dress and makeup are ravishing. Hair is a disaster.

  • absolutely gorgeous….does not matter what dress or what hair color she has she is alway beautiful…..and the most talented actress acting today…..keep up your good work dakota i really enjoy all your movies…. you’re the perfect woman just wish i were a lot of years younger and wealthy enough to run in your crowd just to meet you….just meeting you would make my life…..i do believe you’re gonnna do so many great things in your career….i just love you girl
