I have that same dress, from David’s Bridal! Stars, they’re just like us!

      • poohbah1

Except they’re beloved millionaires who have wonderful sex with each other, and we’re muck-stained goblins living off pizza rind in underpass dumpsters.

    • Lattis

Is there a gene for knowing how to dress well? If there is –  she’s got it.

      • Freyja Canidae

nope. nope nope nope. she has VERY recently figured this out. she’s always been of questionable taste. for evidence i submit this beautiful slideshow: http://gofugyourself.com/cameron-diaz-a-birthday-fugstory-08-2012

    • VicksieDo

LOVE that look. Not that trying too hard thing she usually does.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

If she’d only go up half a size in the bust…

      • VeryClaire

        Or just an inch up…

    • ccinnc

She looks great, best in a long time.

    • http://twitter.com/k8twolf Katie Wolf

I don’t like the accessories on *her* left arm – IMO they clash with the others and distract from the watch, which is the important one.

      • MilaXX

I don’t think she needed bracelets and rings on both hands. I would dump the left side jewelry.

She looks great, but that dress looks a little painful in the armpit area. Commiserating snaps, girl – you look fab but damn that must hurt. Maybe next time put some color in your shoes, Ms. Monochrome.

      simple and amazing!

        Go, girl

    • j_anson

Perfectly acceptable. Love the attitude in the first pic.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      Not earth shattering, but good.

    • Mismarker

Does the hem need to come up a bit? Too tight in the bust.  Love the soft hair and makeup.  I want her arms for my own.

    • marilyn

She is gorgeous.  She may not consider this a compliment, but she is aging gorgeously.  She has dumped the teen-beach hair, and her hair looks great.  By doing this, she looks younger than other actresses her age.  Kudos.

    • B_C_J

A perfect example of a little black dress.  When it is well made (like this one), it will up your game and make you look sophisticated, elegant and splendid.  She looks great.

    • mhleta

IN! Simplicity, elegance and beautiful jewelry. Hair, makeup and skin look incredible. She looks fit, healthy and more gorgeous than ever.

It is so reassuring to know that uber-fit Cammie still gets some arm skin/fat smooshing in dresses like these. Though I think she looks pretty great if a bit standard…

    • ecallaw1977

She and Ellen Barkin seriously need to play mother/daughter or sisters in a film.

    • MilaXX

Not sure why she is wearing her hair like this lately, but the outfit is 100% better than the last few tricked out looks she wore.

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Wearing DeBeers diamonds to a UN Women’s function.  Isn’t that a little counterintuitive?

    • kimmeister

Love that necklace.  Makeup is nice too.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

      she’s classing up the joint.

    • Lisa Kramp

Thank you, THANK YOU, Cameron! For showing the world that great jewelry takes a LBD to a fabulous new level.

      that dress screams new boobs!

      Ellen Barkin’s little sister.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I like it! And this is the second outfit in a row that TLo have posted where I really thought she looked perfectly put together. I think sleek and simple suits her. The length is JUST. RIGHT. (Ahem, Jennifer Aniston, Heidi Klum & Halle Berry.)

    • decormaven

Interesting jewelry, sleek outfit, nice manicure. This look is working for her so well.

Whoever did her make up should be hired and kept on retainer b/c I think she looks so good.  The rest is pretty standard.  I think a well deployed belt would have helped.

    • Little_Olive

What’s the matter, Cammie? Still doing damage control over the Terry Richardson photoshoot (and therefore wearing the most boring and demure thing you could get your hands on)?

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

I’m new to this fashion thing, so I’m going to ask this as non-snarkily as possible: What makes this dress different from a strapless LBD that you could get at Macy’s or something?

      • BrooklynBomber

        The price tag!

        • Kenisha Hill Phillips

Fair enough. I mean, what about this dress justifies the price difference between it and an LBD at a dept store?

          • BrooklynBomber

Well, I was joking but, seriously, I suspect that if you put that dress next to a similar-looking dress from Macy’s, you would be able to see a difference in the quality of fabric, workmanship, and cut. But of course that’s only part of it: there’s also the name, the cachet, and so on. While nothing really justifies the ridiculous cost of high end clothing, Lanvin is a 100-year-old fashion house that’s earned its reputation.

            • Kenisha Hill Phillips

I see what you’re saying. I guess details like that are hard to read on Internet pictures. At any rate, she looks put together enough.

      • VeryClaire

I know, if someone made this on Project Runway they’d get slammed for being boring and lacking innovation, right?

        • Kenisha Hill Phillips

I’m inclined to agree, Claire. Though, for the sanity of all here, I say that based on the standards of pre-Lifetime PR. :)

        • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Project Runway is a reality show competition and has virtually nothing to do with the world of fashion.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000393765005 Garcia Loca

Nice dress, but it squishes her too much up top. I see folds of underarm fat, and on a fit girl like Cameron that’s quite an accomplishment.

    • TieDye64

She looks elegant and chic. The accessories are perfect with the simple dress. Too bad the bust is so tight.

    • oohsparkley!

      Well done!

    • granddelusion

Hmmm, baby heads, back squishies and an odd length.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Cami and Lanvin; who woudla’ thunk it. Well she needed someone to class her up and this is definitely working.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I still hate her, but she looks good. Can’t believe she can breathe in this though – if a dress is tight enough to give that beautifully toned woman the illusion of back-fat, then it is just plain too tight.

    • nannypoo

Tight and stiff in the bust but very elegant. I’d bet she was relieved when she got home and could take it off, but she looks beautiful in it.

    • librarygrrl64

Looks like the dress needs to be hiked up about an inch, but otherwise she looks elegant and event-appropriate. Evidently, classy and Cameron CAN go together!

    • kikisayshi

Something about her body weirds me out. I can’t pinpoint it, but she just doesn’t seem like she feels comfortable or natural in her own skin.

    • DesertDweller79

And here we have a star wearing *too much* jewelry.  It is feast or famine for jewelry on the red carpet lately.

    • formerlyAnon

      Overall, she looks great.

Even if the skirt says “extremely upscale sales clerk” and the top says “let’s see if I can completely distract my dinner companion with musings about whether or not that bodice will ever slide down juuuuust enough . . . .”

    • poohbah1

Superb. She can do class when she wants.

    • kcarb1025

      Kill it with fire.

    • UptownNippy

      she looks like my aunt

    • sweet_potato

So that’s the new skirt length.

    • guest2visits

This dress length really works very well for her, It’s also simple and elegant with the jewelry. Very pretty.
