Andrew Garfield in GANT

Posted on November 19, 2012

We’re gonna get crap for saying this, but his “on the street” outfits look so styled and thought-out to us.

The Amazing Spiderman’ star Andrew Garfield stops by director Marc Webb’s house in Silver Lake, California.

GANT Dark Hunter Green Melange Wool Sweater

Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – and we think he looks pretty good 99% of the time, including here. But some stars look obviously styled, even in jeans and a sweater, which is why we rarely feel bad about assessing their street looks.

He fills out those jeans quite well, yes? And he can totally get away with the mountain man look. He’s got the hair for it.

He’s got fabulous hair. It should be insured.

    hate the beard!!!!

    • Sobaika

Why all the beard hate :(

I love me some facial hair, provided it’s kept and not Pattinson-esque. I think it mans him up a bit, he looks a teensy bit too young and goofy without it. Never quite saw his appeal before.

Your comment reminds of the SpongeBob Squarepants movie, where SpongeBob and Patrick put seaweed on their faces and sing: “now we are men, we got facial hair.”
No, really, I usually hate facial hair, but Mr. Garfield really sports it well : )

      • PhillipWilde

I love beards, but I hate his beard.  Some men are just not meant for facial hair, and AndyGarf is one of them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=678337501 Carla Axtman

Love everything but the beard.  His face is too nice to cover it up with so much hair.

I’m not gonna lie – It’s a lotta look, but I love it. And I love the beard. What a cute baby bear, in his natural Silver Lake habitat.

I don’t prefer the mountain man, but then again I don’t like any man with it. Otherwise, this is very good.

  • Meg0GayGuys6

I love his street style, but have to disagree with the mountain man-ness.  From the neck up, he reminds me of the crazy doctor at the end of Bio-Dome.

…I hope I’m not the only BK to know who that is…

  • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

His hair/beard/glasses give him a startling resemblance to the Mahna Mahna muppet. . .

    • Vera L-

Which is refreshing since he usually looks like Jeff Gordon.

He appears to be carrying a script and a science experiment in a jar. I approve!

    • http://twitter.com/Lily1129 Lily

Hahaha that’s what I first thought too. Hey, Bambi’s doing some sort of experiment! That or he’s going full on mountain man with the jar of moonshine.

  • Dhammadina

Great hair, great glasses, great sweater that broadens shoulders. And he’s going to discuss a script!

  • Sara__B

I do enjoy looking at a nicely-built man in jeans that fit well. Since there aren’t any wandering around my living room this morning, thanks for the view!

  • eowyn_of_rohan

I think I’ll just stare at that third pic for a few hours…

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

He’s toolish but cute. And he’s got good style (or the sense to have someone on hand who has good style). Plus I kind of love his Lynchian hair.

  • http://twitter.com/TheScottFinley Scott Finley

Gant by Michael Bastian sweater. Looks great. I wish all men would take note.

  • Sarah Thomas

    Look at this fucking hipster.

    • Le_Sigh

      Sarah Thomas, you win!

  • thesixthbeatle

He looks casual yet put together. ps TLo please feature more Jack Huston as he is delicious.

  • imspinningaround

Ew, gross, is he carrying a jar of kombucha?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

       Or homegrown.

  • mmc2315

Any guesses on the Levi style #?

    Love!

I also like the plaid shirt combo with the striped sweater.

  • alyce1213

Maybe it’s purchased by a stylist, or maybe he just has nice taste and his girlfriend weighs in.  Whatever — he looks adorable here. I actually like him with the beard, he looks less mewlish. His hair is gorgeous.

  • ecallaw1977

He looks less mountain man and more Bobblehead Teen Wolf to me.

    • MoHub

      I get Marcel Vigneron.

  • angela rose

can we find out where I can get that sweater?  xmas is coming and my husband would rock that.  (and he also walks around silverlake with wild hair and a beard, maybe they can be besties???)

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Very nice jeans! I’d prefer the beard trimmed a little.

  • StellaZafella

MMMMhMMMMMM! Lurv a good set o’ genes.

  • Puck Thornton

He is still too much a boy to pull off the Grizzly Adams look. Cute outfit.

  • VioletFlame

And now the question of the moment – why is he carrying a large jar of pesto? And is he receiving it or gifting it. I think it coordinates well with his man on the street outfit, without being too matchy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

Eh. First thought … shave and a haircut, PLEASE!

  • f_yeah_marie

He’s wearing the Slytherin sweater again.

    • Kristin McNamara

      Love it.

  • Pants_are_a_must

He doesn’t look like a mountain man, though. He looks like a geek in hibernation.

I think the undershirt is way too wrinkly to be obviously styled, to be honest. Maybe just the sweater.

  • MilaXX

I hate the mountain man hair. I hope it’s for a role.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

*ahem*  those jeans.  they, uh, fit VERY well.

  • Cathy S

He’s a cutie. I’m still trying to adjust to the hair and the beard. I love beards, but I’m used to his baby face. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

He has a long narrow face and a long narrow neck which is why I hate the high-top hair and beard!

  • kirkyo

He’s never done anything for me…

    until just now.

  • 3boysful

You know how we know he was styled?  B/c my husband would proudly say “Striped sweater and plaid shirt in different colors don’t work together!” Most non-clothing interested men would never think to put those two together.   And we can tell he didn’t just grab them off the floor because the exposed shirt parts are too precise.

Maybe he has Polaroids on his closet wall of outfits he can put together.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bethany-Roullett/100000413803142 Bethany Roullett

Love the beard!  I’d never seen the appeal of him before, but then I saw him all beardy and dancing on Ellen, and I got it!  That said, as soon as he shaves, I’m probably gonna be all ‘meh’ about him again.   But I think he’s adorable now.

  • DaveUWSNYC

    Schwing

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Definitely takes him from cute, geeky boy to yummy man in my book. Love me good facial hair.

  • ZnSD

I just think he knows what he’s doing, actually. Good job Andrew! ;)

  • warnerave

    he looks great here..

  • claudemtl777

Maybe he simply learned from the fashion editorials and covers he was on. That’s what always surprises me from stars, is that a lot of them don’t learn from those occasions. For example, if a stylist or two told me that yellow is not my color, I’d cut down on the yellow.

  • glennethph

He’s always been wearing something like this.  Either it’s his own personal style or a stylist sat him down and lectured him on the skinnyboygeekhipster chic that he’s made for.

  • kittenwithaquip

This looks like something I’d put together for my 4- and 6-year-old sons (not a dig at Andrew Garfield, just fact). I wonder how long they’ll let me put together outfits for them and set them out the night before?

  • formerlyAnon

I like this look simply because it shows off the snake hips that only the lucky and the young can show.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Disagree about the hair. I’ve always hated his hair. And the beard is just gross – it’s too patchy.

  • quiltrx

The shitty beard is actually pulling focus from his fairytale hair.

  • margaret meyers

    What’s in the jar, dude?

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

I’d totally like to see him as a Lumberjack. I’d help jack his lumber, if you know what I mean.

  • lalahartma

    That beard. :(

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/Y3OY6COEVBS2STNCUNIRZ3COUE Claudia

This is how my husband dresses/would dress if he had more money.  But my man is a sucker for a Gant shirt.

  • bellafigura1

Best pictures of him ever. He looks less pencil-neck and scrawny, and yes, ass-in-jeans wonderful. I’m not a beard lover but this is working for me.

  • DominoEstella

my husband dresses like this and he’s not styled.

  • littlemac8

I think he looks much less “styled” than that twink Jamie Bell.

  • EEKstl

I don’t think he was “styled” here, just pulled somethings out of the closet (look at the dirty soles of his shoes like a normal person!), he has a sense of fashion and the body type to consistently look pretty damned good.  Most interesting to me is what he’s carrying: Script and notebook are standard issue, but what’s in the jar????
