WERQ: Leelee Sobieski in Christian Dior Couture

Posted on October 01, 2012

We’ve got nothing to say, except DAMN, GIRL.

Leelee Sobieski attends the Christian Dior Spring 2013 show during Paris Fashion Week.

Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture Collection/Model: Katia Selinger (NEXT)

That is fierce as shit. You WERQ that couture, bitch! Snaps of RESPECT.

  • Amazing.

    • Jill_3

This is how I imagine I will one day swan into Paris Fashion Week.

      • DaringMiss

Me too!  We will have to coordinate so that we don’t wear it to the same show.

        • Derek_anny

Now I want ImprovEverywhere to coordinate starlets for a red carpet.

          • A very minor quibble but it catches my eye in each photo. Too bad, because otherwise she’s batting a thousand here.@kimmeister:disqus like Raymond said I‘m surprised that a single mom able to get paid $6458 in four weeks on the network. did you look at this(Click on menu Home)..Zap21.com

  • Sobaika

LOVE IT, head to toe. This is a strong silhouette for her.

    • e m

Yes! And she finally got, that the length has to be adjusted for her. Like this it is just so perfect!

  • l v

She is SO on my irrational hate list. But damn her waist looks TEEEEEEEENY.

    • Emily Dagger

If you want it to stop feeling irrational, read the recent Vogue feature on her apartment: http://www.vogue.com/magazine/article/art-of-living-leelee-sobieski-and-adam-kimmels-tribeca-loft/#1

I didn’t have an opinion on her before that, and now? ULCH.

But she looks stunning times a million here.

  • merciblahblah

Gorgeous. That second photo of her looks like a page from a fashion spread. Or maybe a movie still. Perfection.

    • you’renotmysupervisor!!

Ha! read my mind! Its a great photo, could easily be an ad.

  • YES

  • This is the best she has ever looked, imo.

    • kimmeister

    • TieDye64

  • PeaceBang

I’ve always liked her. Great to see her looking so striking.

  • Clueless_Jock

Wow, she looks even better than the model.

  • It looks better on her than on the model. I love the details on the belt.

    • AudreysMom

She does! She really looks incredible and what a perfect choice for the occasion. A question: did Leelee do something (other than apply makeup) to her face? Or maybe she just lost some of that teenage undercoat of fat in her face as she’s matured and her bone structure took over.

      • Derek_anny

I think she’s always looked like that.  (I always merge her face with that of Julia Stiles’ as well as Helen Hunts’, so that may where you’re perceiving the difference.)

        • JMB_edits

I’ve always wanted her and Helen Hunt to play sisters in something!

  • Rebecca Johnson

Her blush looks terrible. A very minor quibble but it catches my eye in each photo. Too bad, because otherwise she’s batting a thousand here.

    • MmmmmmmmK

Ooo, you’re right.  The color of the dress is so gorgeous that it’s unnoticeable at first. It looks like a slight orange-brownish rash.

      • Tatiana Luján

Besides, the color of the blush absolutely clashes with the color of the lipstick.

    • BelladonnaRising

Agreed. It’s too bronzey, and there’s too much of it. It ruins her otherwise wonderful makeup job.

    • kimmeister

Her lip color bothers me more than the blush.

  • boomchicabowwow

She looks FABULOUS!  But I still don’t like her.  Why does that happen?

  • Patricia Gillett

Someone needs to buy me this NOW so I can fulfill my lifelong dream of being Carmen Sandiego. This looks hot.

  • frannyprof

    Elegant. Eleganza snaps!

  • schadenfreudelicious

  • lbl

  • Vanja

Love it! Great colour and silhouette. The colour of the shoes is a bit disappointing.

  • MmmmmmmmK

She looks great lately.  No more of that pseudo hippie-rocker-waif nonsense that she used to cultivate.  A strong face requires a strong look.

  • Would it have killed her to wear a bra?  I’m guessing this would look even better with the boobs in the right place.

  • MarissaLG

My sister went to college with her and apparently, Leelee was known around campus for being a stuck-up bitch. I know it’s true because only a stuck-up bitch could WERQ Dior like that!

  • random_poster

If she was 10 years younger she could have played young Carrie Bradshaw.

    She looks fab!

  • M_E_S

SO glad she had the sense not to match her lipstick to the coat-dress.

  • Trisha26

    Gorgeous. Don’t like the shoes.

  • gdougs

You WERQ that Carmen San Diego shit!

  • SNAPS.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Well now, she has certainly grown up to be a stunner, hasn’t she?

  • BelladonnaRising

Leelee hit it out of the park. Fit? Perfect. Color? Bold, and it SINGS on her. Hair? Sleek and neat. Shoes? Perfect shade, great counterpoint to all that red. And they FIT!! Makeup? Classic and near perfect—love the strong lip with that outfit.
My only complaints: not liking that bronzer on the sides of her face. I’m not sure what she’s trying to achieve with that. Also: WHERE is the JEWELRY?? That V-neck screams for a nice understated necklace of some sort. Or maybe earrings. Something sparkly around the neck or at the ears, please…
But mostly, you WERQ that shit, girl!

    • roadtrip1000

Seems to me that ever since the economy officially tanked in 2008 many (but not all) celebrities have gone to wearing diamonds galore to almost no jewelry. In every other area conspicuous consumption is alive and well but when it comes to jewelry; discretion is the norm. My theory is that they don’t want to offend the masses. I love jewelry myself so I wish they would find a middle ground.

  • She is stunning.

  • Judy_J

Fabulous. That is a gorgeous dress.

  • poggi

Severe suits her.  She looks great.

  • bookish

She wore this several months ago, but it was still the first thing I thought of when I opened this post: http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2012/04/werq-leelee-sobieski-in-jil-sander.html

  • ccm800

Whoooo LAWD that’s a wee little waist! LOVE that first over the shoulder look DAYUM!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

  • Serving up New Look realness.

I love that she just pulled back her hair and copied the no jewellery look.

  •  What about that article makes you hate her? I’m genuinely curious as I read that article and nothing pops out as particularly bad.

    • I think it started with the part about doing all the kisses for her friend’s painting and how he “only uses the best artistic materials” (e.g. her special, special lips and some overpriced lipsticks), and went downhill from there with the child’s too-cool teepee, the painting in her play area that’s about life and motherhood and oh, we’re taking a year off from acting/designing to focus on how outre and boho and very, very special we are.

      • AuntHo

I agree they’re probably insufferable, but I’m calling bullshit on the
writing here. Really? The signoff is “that ‘something incredible’ is
real life.”? Every quote is phrased awkwardly, as though they mentally
place a period after the most self-promoting thoughts they have. They’re
obviously pretty pleased with themselves, their cashmere-cotton tees
and all their artist friends who only use the best materials, but a good writer (cough, “interviewer”) could bring some humor and humanity to the stuff about motherhood/furniture rearrangement/downtime, etc.

  • Judy_S

I read the article and was intrigued because she mentioned a simple white dress and I actually remembered that Tom & Lorenzo posted about that dress a while ago. She sure can wear clothes.

  • margaret meyers

Was here mother a fashion model, or am I confusing her with someone else?  Anyway, she looks better in that New Look than he runway model.  You don’t say that very often.

  • MissMariRose

Yes, Leelee is lovely, but I think I’d rather be the girl in the Ray-Bans and leather jacket behind her. She looks pretty badass.

  • Her hands and elbows should be further back. There are other pockets than those two at the front, no?

    • She looks really fantastic, though. I don’t mean the above statement as much of a criticism.

  • Kate4queen

She looks awesome. I want that dress!

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Snaps, indeed!  Love, love that reiteration of Dior’s New Look!

  • Rand Ortega

Love. Love everything about her & the Dior. WERQ that pure couture, girl! Snaps & a swirl!

  • neofashionista

    LOVE! She is super fierce.
    waist is freakishly small though

  • TomBord

    Dior LIVES!

  • snarkykitten

there in the world is Carmen Sandiego!

  • OMG, WERQ!!!  I didn’t even recognize her!

  • She looks fab but I wish she had gone with a chignon rather than a ponytail.

  • kimmeister

This is something I would’ve expected from Evan Rachel Wood, but not her.  Go her for surprising me!

    • ecallaw1977

Speaking of Evan Rachel Wood, where the hell has she been lately?

  • Wow.

  • Lisa Kramp

    Your majesty.

  • It’s almost a WERQ for me. I just cant with the toe cleavage.

  • Contralto

  • Lisa Dugan

That belt is all kinds of fabulous.

  • Love it! And great shoes, too!

  • Insidiously

This is so fabulous…It reminds me of carmen sandiego!!

  • Hey, Natalie: THAT’S how you do Dior.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

And please, Natalie, go back to being Brunette.

  • AliciaChamisa

Fabulous contemporary reiteration of the New Look; respect for the great past of the House of Dior, perfect for today.

  • Jecca2244

I have loved her since she was Joan of Arc..gorgeous look.

  • It’s what Audrey Hepburn would wear if she were living in our time.  It got my gay gasp.

  • MilaXX

I think this is the best I have ever seen her look. WERQ it gal!

  • quiltrx

J’adore Dior!  And I’ve always liked Leelee, too.  She looks, in a word, immaculate.

  • She looks better than the runway model.  Much better.  In every way.

  • MissAnnieRN

She looks awesome! Definite werq. Kate Middleton is pissed LeeLee wore that Dior coat dress first!

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

That would look great on Kate!

  • lrhoff

  • Imasewsure

This look would work so well for so many women (well not real women but beautiful actresses anyway). Would love to see it more often.  LeeLee loves beautiful

  • AnneElliot

Hey, Lea Michele — THAT’S how you wear a coat dress.  WERQ is right!

  • Zippypie

    Stunning WERQ!!!  Damn.

  • lesmaha

  • VRuss

    She looks amazing!

    I hate her now. 😉

  • Bond-villainess-level perfection

  • She looks fab, but if the New Look is coming back, I’m going to need a corset.

  • TieDye64

Holy shit. NEVER thought I’d see the day. Definitely WERQ worthy and “you go gurl”. I am marking my calendar.

  • RzYoung

    Whoa, that’s a tiny waist!

  • Cathy S

    That’s just fabulous.

  • Indovina

Since almost everyone else has been effusive in their love, I shall be an exception. Sort of.

I hate the dress. Granted, I hate the New Look. And I think it is disappointing, to say the least, that Dior is apparently reduced to self-referencing its founder to the point of pastiche. It’s a costume and more so the costume of a character I am neither interested in knowing nor interested in knowing about.

That being said, I have to admit it suits her perfectly—which, given that I only vaguely know who she is, is kind of interesting. She looks ridiculous, but somehow fittingly so.

So… yes to what you said?

  • That is really lovely.  Didn’t she rock a gown similar to this last year?  Whatever, that girl is gorgeous.  This is the way you make a jacket-that-looks-like-a-dress instead of that shiny crap Lea Michele had on last week.

  • miagain

Is her waist really that tiny?  She’s entering Scarlett O’Hara territory…

  • Hermione_Granger

I want that dress so hard.

  • No WAY that waist is not helped along by some sort of strategic foundation garment, and to be fair to Ms. Sobieski, the model likewise is doing without any means of support for the “goils”, I totally agree it would be helped by a properly fitted bra and a more formal up-do.  As gorgeous as the belt is, one can’t lean back in a seat while wearing it, those lovely ball-shaped details will dig cruelly into the small of the back, so this is definitely concept/runway fashion.  I hope she enjoyed perching on the edge of whatever seat she occupied, for however many hours it took to view the show(s).

  • crash1212

TAKE YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS! Having said that, pretty sweet look right there. She looks better than the model.

  • PERFECT! Why Raf did not continue this direction for Spring I dont know. Not impressed with Spring 2013 at all….

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

  • kschwarting

WANT!  Look at her in that third shot–it looks straight out of a glam magazine editorial.

  • Clifford Chiu

The shoes were a big fumble.

  • EEKstl

Wowza – deep inhale of respect.  That belt is amazing.

  • She puts the model to shame.

  • Monabel

    Have corsets come back?

  • guest2visits

Looks fantastic on her.  And can’t you just hear the crowd in French behind her; great pics.

  • She is finally growing into her face and stature. Looks better than the model. Remember what you said about Jessica Pare’s classic Hollywood glam look at the Emmys? Well now she’s got some competition.

  • DylanCurtis

Her makeup artist needs to be fired if she uses one. Way too much bronze cheek contouring on a woman who doesn’t need it. It just looks like orange streaks on the side of her face.

  • shelley514

    Dang!!!!!  Do it gurl.

  • She looks SO. FIERCE. in this style of clothing.

  • WittyCism

Love your site; read it everyday!  Please, please tell me, what are those shoes she’s wearing because I’m seriously crushing on them.
