Walking Dead Season 3 Premiere Red Carpet

Posted on October 08, 2012

We have some trepidation regarding the coming season of Walking Dead, which premieres this Sunday. As fans of the books, we have a good idea of what’s coming and if they do it right, it’s going to be one hell of a jaw-dropping season. On the other hand, we were so disappointed with the last season that it bordered on disgust when it was all over. Please, writers; please don’t screw up Michonne.

David Morrissey, Sarah Wayne Callies, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, and Lauren Cohan at the ‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 Premiere.

But hey, at least the cast showed up for the premiere party looking pretty damn good. In fact, everyone looks so damn good that we’re going to eschew commentary because it gets awfully boring saying “Wow, he/she looks great” over and over again. Maybe it’s because we’re so used to seeing them all look like shit that it’s a shock to see them looking so cleaned-up and polished, but really, the men wore nice suits and the ladies wore great dresses. It helps that there’s not an average-looking one in the bunch.

And if you have read the books, try not to spoil anything in the comments section, please.

Oh, Norman, (Daryl) I have missed you!!!

    • JosephLamour

seriously. he does things to my heart i cant explain.

    • Add a crossbow to his ensemble and he’d be even more delectable.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Is it me or does everyone look like they should have gone up a size?

    • alyce1213

It’s like a spreading disease among celebrities — a tightness disorder.  I can’t take it anymore.

      • l_c_ann

Can we define your ‘spreading disease’ as they spread, and their clothes don’t?

    •  Yes, and the women all wore ugly shiny beige shoes. And Danai Gurira’s dress looks like entrails. I don’t really like any of the clothes here. I mean, the people all look good in the same way that everyone ever featured on this blog looks good — they’re good-looking actors with expensive hairdos and professional makeup. But the outfits are bleh.

      • dress_up_doll

I thought the same thing about Danai’s dress. I guess it’s appropriate for the occasion though, huh? The shoes need to go (she’s not the only one wearing them). But, man has she got a killer body!

      • Lingus

I was thinking the same about Danai’s dress, but I thought it was on purpose considering the show she’s promoting. Despite the boring shoes, I’m ready to give her a WERQ for being hilariously macabre on the red carpet.

      •  I thought the same thing about Danai’s dress. It’s atrocious.

        • frederieke

Hahah I thought it was an excellent choice given the show

  • EditKitten

    Damn, Laurie Holden!

  • Am I the only one who saw something wrong with almost every outfit here? Danai looks fierce but her shoes make me stabby. Emily is gorgeous, but that dress is a size too small, is too low on her bust, and that clutch is a bit frightening. They’re all great looking people (especially Danai… she is gorgeous), and I’m happy to see the guys put in some effort for once, but I don’t think these were home run looks….

    • MilaXX

I was okay with the women mostly, although I do agree that Emily’s is sitting a bit low. My quibbles were with some f the guys.

  • I would like a slice of Andrew Lincoln on a plate, plz. KTHXBYE.

    • We’ll split that pie in half.

      • nancy

Ooh, I’ll take a slice. He looks very much like an ex-boyfriend of mine, fond memories!

  • ChiliP

    1. The cast looks pretty good, but are Steve Yeun’s pants supposed to be that short? Sharp look though.
    2. Will T-Dawg do anything this season other than occasionally show up to utter one line an episode?
    3. Will Lori continue to be completely annoying?
    4. Will everyone realize that Daryl is the only person worth listening to around here?

  • jilly_d

ANDREW LINCOLN HUMMANAH HUMMANAH HUMMANAH.   Now that that’s out of the way….. who the eff is Emily Kinney and why does she look terrified?  Were there zombies?  Maybe it’s the fact that she’s wearing a white mini dress and nothing shoes?  Does she feel naked?  I would.

ETA: Laurie Holden, you took it one step too far past “hot mama” and fell right on over into “desperate”, didn’tja?

    • turtleemily

       She’s Maggie’s sister…Beth?

    •  Perhaps this is Emily’s first red carpet? I thought she looked scared sh!tless, too.

  • BP180

Have I gone senile, or are there a lot of new people?  Who are Danai Guriri, David Morrissey, and Emily Kinney?   And I thought Jeryl Prescott’s character blew up in the CDC?

    • Danai Gurira is, I believe, the actress playing Michonne and David Morrissey is The Governor (that’s not spoilery, right? It’s been all over the press.)  Emily Kinney is the surviving daughter from the farm, I don’t recall her character name.

And that’s the exact thing I thought when I saw Jeryl Prescott.

      • BP180

Oh, right, Maggie’s sister.  I suppressed my memory of her, because the story line with her was so annoying and draaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwn oooooooooooooooooouuuuut.  I think I need to read the Wikipedia page for season two to refresh my memory.  DId their dad make it, or get eaten?

        • He made it but I blanked on his name too.

  • Call me Bee

Well–the guys look great.  The gals?  Too much short, tight and shiny and way too many silly putty shoes.  I say Jeryl Prescott FTW!
Never really got into this series…I watched the first couple episodes and was totally grossed out, so I can’t watch anymore.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Why does everyone look so shiny?  Was it 110 degrees?  Or did zombies eat all the blotting paper?

  • ojosazules

    Dania Gurira looks pretty striking.
The women apparently bought stock in beige shoes before shopping for this event.

  • MK03

Did Carl stay in the house for this?

    • MilaXX

       for once.

  • I’ll take Norman Reedus to go please.

    • I am debating whether to go to Comic Con or not. Norman will there! But the crowds???

      • LittleKarnak

Reedus goes to a lot of smaller shows so you can get up close and personal without fighting a crowd….he is an awesome guy with his fans!

        • MilaXX

yep, a friend of mine attended a con in Canada and meet him.

    • Mmmmm hmmmmm…. I love me some Daryl.

  • mjude

cant wait for the new season & especially michonne.   the men look great & so do the women but emily’s dress is way to short/tiny.

  • beadskrit

I have even more trepidation about the new season of Walking Dead after last night’s finale of Hell on Wheels. It seems AMC’s woman probably is leaking into all of its shows–any strong woman who isn’t a bitch or a martyr doesn’t seem to have a place on this network. I’m crossing my fingers that Walking Dead can use Michone to break AMC’s rather disappointing string of female characters they’ve created post- Mad Men.

  • oh no! gurira looks like she got flayed. (willow: ‘bored now.’)

  • nannypoo

I’m not going to watch this and I’ve never heard of the books, but I want to say thank you to TLo for the spoiler caution. I hate it when someone gives away the surprise.

  • I can’t look at Lori without thinking, “Please be eaten soon,” but I have to admit she looks gorgeous here. Hopefully she’ll make a beautiful dinner for a zombie in the very near future.

  • Swoon.

“Please, writers; please don’t screw up Michonne.” Sums everything up nicely.

  • Rebecca Jay

Other than Rick and Daryl, I think they all look like crap.

  • poggi

I took beginning ballet classes as a kid, and my whole class got to be in a real ballet.  I imagined beautiful, fancy tutus and such.  We were peasant children; we ran on stage, sat down for 2 minutes, and ran off in brown, burlap shifts.  I was so disappointed.  I always feel bad for actresses who get to Hollywood and land a part on a hit show but they play a former school teacher who is fighting for survival against aliens or a pediatrician who is fighting for survival against zombies or a prisoner who is fighting for survival on a island.   I am sure they are thrilled to have a job and a good part, but I wonder if every once in a while they say do I really have to wear the same dirty jeans and t-shirt for a whole season; can’t we stumble on a David’s bridal and gussy up for an evening while we fight aliens, zombies, smoke monsters…

In other words, I would not begrudge any one of these ladies some series sparkles, high heels, and short, sexy little dresses.  Live it up ladies!

  • MilaXX

I heard, but can’t recall where I read it that this season is actually pretty kickass. I haven’t read the books so I don’t know for sure. I hope so.
I do have to give it up for the cast though. They all look pretty decent. Minor quibbles all belong to the men; IronE in his Stacy Adams finest is a bit extra for my taste, Norman Reedus’s black on black with no tie & bad shoes, and Steve Yuen either needs black shoes or a longer hem. Regardless everyone put in the effort and should be applauded.

    • BP180

I think Norman Reedus is wearing a bowtie.  For some reason.

  • MilaXX

AMC has a serious hate going on with DISH, don’t they?

  • Rand Ortega

Not familiar w/ the show but the cast certainly is quite striking. The men’s pants are hemmed very nicely; no unsightly puddles. The ladies dresses fit well; the accessories work well. Emily Kinney should pull her dress up– is this a foundation issue? I can’t tell. Now, w/ great sadness I have to address… the puddy shoes. When’s the moratorium on those horrible things? There should be a holiday commemorating that fateful day.

  • crash1212

Laurie Holden FTW – if for no other reason that she was the only one with interesting shoes. Honorable Mention: Jeryl Prescott due to non-nude-clodhoppers…but I can’t with the long sleeved Wilma.

  • sockandaphone

i am rooting so hard for michonne to come like a hurricane and be the best character ever so ive been silently prayet like you, tlo. I mean despite the boredfest that was most of season 2, i am excited for this season. again, writers, dont screw up.
and dresses – the ladies killed it.

  • littlelistmaker

Oh god, I love Steven Yeun and his shoes.

  • PaulaBerman

There is a person named IronE? Awesome.

    • jeeplibby02

No, there is a person named Robert, with a stupid stage/nickname.

  • *SQUEEEE!!!!*  The zombies are back!  This is actually going to be my first season catching it on TV – I saw seasons 1 & 2 on DVD after my boyfriend got me into it.  We’re both so excited for the new season!

  • I haven’t read the books, but I do have high hopes for this season! I’ve heard good things.

On a side note, have you seen this video about Norman Reedus? It makes me laugh every time I see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zt0YEltJ8o

  • LittleKarnak

I totally echo your sentiments: please don’t screw up Michonne!!!!!

  • quiltrx

Norman Reedus, you take all that stuff off and get over here.  RAWR.

As for the season (I don’t read the books)…equal or increasing levels of Daryl, please; please let Lori die a horrible death; and please put a fucking bell on Carl.

    • adnama79

More Daryl, more Glenn, more Maggie, more T-Dawg.  More Andrea, but don’t make her talk to Lori anymore.  Lori doesn’t have to die, but she does need to be written as a human being instead of an annoying foil. And have fewer scenes, fewer lines.

I swear, none of the writers on that show have kids or have ever been around parents.  Why was Sophia’s mother laying around crying and not out looking for her kid?  (Oh, right, ’cause there was laundry and she’s female.)  Why is no one ever sure where Carl is?  Why would you raise your kid with a sheriff father and not teach basic gun safety/basic gun handling BEFORE the zombie apocalypse (if the gun is in the house, the kid should be taught how to act around it)?  Why would you waffle about it afterward – ESPECIALLY if you aren’t going to at least supervise him so he doesn’t get his hands on one?

  • I hate Danai Gurir’s dress. It looks like there’s a hole right near her crotch.

Emily Kinney looks downright petrified to be there, AND her dress is 6 seconds away from sliding down her torso. Plus, white dress, pale skin, blonde hair, and silly-putty pumps? A whole lot of “MEH.”
IronE Singleton is in a category all his own. He looks awesome!

Norman Reedus looks like he slept in his suit, AND the pants are too long.
DIFFERENT SHOES, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Sarah Wayne Collies (otherwise, that’s a cute little number).

Steven Yuen’s pants are a skosh too short.

The rest of the gang looks good. Most notable is that the guys have their pants hemmed almost perfectly!

  • I feel stupid for not knowing there were books. I will be reading them immediately.

  • Nelliebelle1197

Damn. Who knew Andrea had those legs!

    • BP180

I know, she looks great!  (Other than the super severe hair.)  But I’m so happy to see her in something other than the off-the-shoulder top she wears in the show.  I cannot think of a more annoying type of shirt to have to wear for months and months while battling zombies.  You know that neck hole would have stretched to have room for two sets of shoulders by now.

  • 3Beaz

When I glanced quickly at the group shot it looked like Laurie Holden had buzzed her hair off!!  I thought it looked pretty bad ass but soon realized it was just pulled back into the tightest updo/ponytail ever.

  • afabulous50

OK – I’m sorry.  Buckets of nude shoes?  Ill fitting dresses & suits?  Emily Kinney & IronE – seriously??  No comments??  No comments??  See, now I’ve been turned into a fashion monster.  Thanks a lot…

    • We keep peering at these pictures, trying to find the ill-fitted dresses and suits that people are talking about, and we don’t see them. Everything is tightly fitted, but that’s not the same as ill-fitted.

      • Yuen’s pants are a bit too short, but they come off as quirky rather than jerky. It’s not a trick I want to see repeated very often though.

        •  That’s not ill-fitted though; that’s a style of cut, made popular by Thom Browne.

  •  T-dawg’s name is IronE? No.

  • Jennifer Coleman

Good Lord. It’s Attack of the Cheesy Putty Zombie Shoes. I love Sarah Wayne Callies’ dress.

  • Stupid double comment.

  • This is supposed to be a reply to MilaXX but it didn’t post that way for some reason. I hit reply but it didn’t post that way. Grr!

With good reason.  Their parent companies are involved in an unrelated lawsuit and AMC claims that’s the reason DISH dropped them.  DISH says it dropped AMC because the other channels included in the bundle (IFC, Sundance and another) aren’t worth the price being asked.  I tend to side with AMC here because any other time something like this has happened (DirecTv dropped MTV during the summer), the network and provider were able to come to an agreement fairly quickly.  This has been going on for months and a couple of weeks ago DISH said they had no intention of bringing AMC back.

    {Dear BKs, you may all skip, I am merely spitting in the wind to relieve my feelings, nothing of interest here.}

Neat beard or clean-shaven. Eschew the 3-day stubble.

  • Trisha26

I don’t watch this show but I find nothing to like above, cleaned up or not. Hmmm. Maybe the Walking Dead ate TLo’s brains.

  • EEKstl

They look great and can’t wait for Sunday, but 5 out of 6 of the women in nude shoes???? C’mon now, ladies!  It’s autumn, even in LA! Live a little!

  • CarolinLA

I wish Andrew Lincoln could act.  His dialect is SO bad that it’s painful to watch.  I hope David Morrissey does a better job.  (And WTF!  They couldn’t find two AMERICAN actors to play those parts?  I get so tired of it.)

  • deitybox

Danai Gurira is ridiculously fierce. I worked on a play of hers (she is also an amazing playwright), and she never showed up looking less than flawless. I’m so glad she’s on the road to making it.

  • Truly_Outrageous

Awww I wish we could’ve have seen Dale on the red carpet. But anywho, I cant wait to see Norman Reedus on TV again. Oh and Andrew Lincoln too. Hubba Hubba. They both look sharp here.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Honest to God, I have never heard of even one of these people!  I must expand my TV viewing!

  • adnama79
  • adnama79

I haven’t read the books – I’m not a graphic novel person, generally.  I’m considering trying The Walking Dead books, though.  Before I do, can someone tell me – are the women as poorly written in the books as on the show.  ‘Cause I can’t take it if they are.

Also, I’m not sure that I can handle the Michonne plotline, anyway.  I can handle zombie violence, but I wikipediaed what happens to her…  is it graphic?

  • Does it really say Not available on Dish over and over and over again on the back drop?
