Tom Hiddleston at the BFI London Film Festival Awards

Posted on October 22, 2012

Here you go, fanboys and fangurls. You’re always yelling and throwing rocks at us for not shining a spotlight on your little nerdcrush and it wounds us, kittens. Wounds.

So, shut up. He looks gorgeous here. Wasn’t it worth the wait?

Tom Hiddleston attends the 56th BFI London Film Festival Awards.

We don’t like the peek of white shirt showing through on the bottom, but otherwise, this is a beautifully tailored tux and he’s a guy who takes tux-wearing to totally Olympian levels when put up against other mere mortals. It’s a cliche, but he really was born to wear them.

Awwwh such an adorable thing isn’t he?  I don’t really get the Hiddleston-crush but he does some how make me want to take him home and feed him, or buy him a puppy or something.

      • Cathy S

         He has an adorable smile.

    • piecesofconfetti

He seems to be the type who either looks really, really good, or kind of blah.

      • AudreysMom

to me he seems to be the type who either looks really, really good or really, really, REALLY good.

(with a nod to Joseph Gordon-Leavitt in my other pocket)

    • Rachel S.

*sigh* What is it about this man that absolutely slays me? I usually ignore blondes but something about that million-dollar smile and gentle, but mischievous glint to his eye makes my knees wobble. Absolutely gorgeous.

      • AnaRoW

         That’s blonde?

        • Maria

Yeah.  He is blond but look better with the black Loki hair

        • emcat8

Yeah, he has crazy curly blond hair. You can see it in all its…glory…in the first Wallander series.

        • MinAgain

          More strawberry blonde, I think.

    • John Spodick

“Olympian” levels? Blasphemy!  “Asgardian” Levels, my friends…..

      • Judy_S

Olympian, too. On Youtube there’s a clip of him quoting an ancient Greek tragedy–in Greek.

        • Sobaika

He’s apparently super smart, studied Latin and Greek and all of that. He’s cute, but that excites me more than anything.

          • Louise Bryan

A gorgeous and smart guy.  Who could ask for anything more?  Shame Loki was the bad guy, since Tom is so much better looking than his screen brother.

      • MinAgain

Your geek credentials are impeccable, sir.

      • AudreysMom

         well done.

    • Cristina

Omg you’re amazing for posting about him.  He’s just too cute to handle.  But I’m not digging the tux so much, it’s a little dandyish.

    • Eric Scheirer Stott

I think he is wearing one of those tuxes where the waistband is made of satin in an effort to replace the cummerbund. It doesn’t quite work because a real cummerbund is wider.

    • AllForUSophia

OMG, it’s Loki in a tux!

    • neadsie

I’ve just the spent the last few weeks watching EVERYTHING he’s ever appeared in, including a very ropey episode of the British hospital drama Casualty. I am in love.

      • emcat8

        Back of the line, sister.

No, really, I’m glad to hear of others falling for him and watching everything…makes me feel less insane. Wasn’t he adorable in his brief scenes in Midnight in Paris? That was the only reason for me to even watch that movie. I could actually imagine him pretty well as my version of what F. Scott was really like.

        • AudreysMom

I actually like MiP better than just his scenes, but they clearly were BONUS material. Now, I would say that Hiddleston’s all too brief scenes in War Horse made that film one giant step above bearable.

          • editrixie

As much as I want to see him in ALL the things, there is no way I can watch War Horse. No way in hell. I cannot handle any kind of animal harm, even the suggestion of it kills me. And as a military history buff, I already know way more than I want to about the cavalry horses of WWI.

BTW, I’ve wanted to ask you for ages — is Audrey the pug in your icon? If so, she’s adorbs (well, she’s adorbs whoever she is). I foster dogs for a rescue group, and the pugs I’ve had the pleasure of fostering were my favorites — one I wish I’d adopted and kick myself for all the time that I didn’t.

        • neadsie

It’s a relief knowing that I’m not the only one soaking up his back catalogue. He was completely adorable in MiP. I don’t know what you’ve seen, but I may I recommend Joanna Hogg’s films Unrelated and Archipelago. Two of my favourite films and they both conveniently star Hiddleston.

    • Knightley

He’s adorable as always. Gotta say though, Loki-fangurls are getting to be just as bad as Twi-moms.

    • celisabeth

every time i see him, i think he could be rooney mara’s brother.

      • jilly_d

        nailed it!

    • SapphoPoet

Very nice. Man can wear a tux.

My husband has declared “Thor” to be his favorite movie of all time and has a serious man-crush on Chris Hemsworth.

      • Becca Cleary

yes, i’ve been saying this forever. they could be twins!

    • Christiane Truelove

He was so much fun as Loki, but the shots of him from the Avengers’ set messing around with other characters’ props in a totally goofball way and getting photographs taken with that adorable Captain America-shield-toting little boy really warmed my heart and made me lurve him lots. Looking killer in a tux is a plus.

    • shirab

I’m a little distracted by the fact that his face is much lighter than his ears and the very top of his forehead along the hairline. Bad lighting, bad makeup, a bit of each?

      • kimmeister

Or maybe it’s the color on your monitor?  His ears actually look lighter than his face to me.

        • snarkykitten

I see both, hairline & ears are paler than the rest of his face

          • shirab

Right, I meant the hair and ears are lighter than the face. I mistyped. But I’m glad you agree with the point I was attempting to make!

      • Kimmu

He’s currently filming Thor 2, and as he is not sporting long black hair of his own, we’re all pretty sure he’s been wearing a wig for the role. The line at the front is totally a lacefront wig tan line.

      • SophieCollier

Could be bronzer abuse, or maybe the wig he had to wear while filming Thor 2 caused a tan line.

    • fabulous

Ah, a glimpse of my boyfriend is what I needed on this sick-as-death day.

    • shopgirl716

      Le sigh.  Love him so.

    • Mary Stone

pic number 2 down from top.  I’ll take an even baker’s dozen, please.  Just gorgeous

    • Shawn EH

      Class act!

    • jennyv

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

i just don’t get it. the rest of you can have him.

      • SophieCollier

        Yay!  Thanks!

    • marlie

There is something that is so, SO adorable about this one. And damn does he look great in a tux!

    • emily

The man is gorgeous but he needs a new makeup person because this isn’t the first time we’ve seen him with funky skin colouring.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

Wow, clean, shaved, suit fits, no hands in pockets…he’s a keeper!

      • librarygrrl64

And smiling instead of trying to be all broody and taking himself too seriously.

    • librarygrrl64

      Hot ginger goodness. Thank you!!!

    • Artesian_Belle

He was perfect as F. Scott Fitzgerald in Midnight in Paris. He should have been born in the 1920s!

      • Imasewsure

That’s where I know him from! Thank You! He was awesome and that period (and this tuxedo) suits him perfectly!

    • Laura

    • Kim Brightman

      Thank you TLo!!

Now if only I could hear him speak….

    • j_anson

I feel terrible for saying this, but I literally like every form of hair I’ve seen him in (yes, even Evil Loki) better than his natural hair. But even having said that, he’s adorable.

    • Kerry McCombs

      He is wonderfully goofy.

    • Zippypie

I’ve not seen him as Loki but he was really quite good in the first two series of “Wallander”.  British men know how to wear a suit.  Oh yes.

    • DaveUWSNYC

      Finally, no pocket pool. Bravo.

    • Catherine L Kronenwetter

I can hear him laughing in these!  He was made for a tux.

    • formerlyAnon

      Thank-you. I shall retire, swooning.

    • emcat8

OMG, he’s currently my biggest mancrush. I ADORE him. He looks so adorkable here.

    • unbornfawn

And he doesn’t have his hands in his pockets!

    • greymain

and his hands aren’t in his pockets…my, my!

    • Kelly Kerwin

      Worth it!

    • quiltrx

He’s definitely meant to wear tuxes, and if he weren’t so darned puppy-adorable he would make a good Bond. :)

I think I need to hurry up and watch Thor on Netflix to see what all the fuss is about…I’ve never actually seen him act yet.  Loki was always one of my very favorite baddies in the superhero/comic world as a kid, so I bet I’ll love him.

      • Kimmu

He’s sooooo good as Loki. He manages to capture that perfect level of wanting to intensely sob over how tragic he is while at the same time wanting to strangle him for being such a gigantic dick.

I always tell myself I will not post all over the place whenever he or Hemsworth show up here, and I always fail.

    • MilaXX

Such a nice spot of pretty after a long day. He and Idris were my sole reasons for watching Thor.

    • Kimmu

He can do no wrong, for even when he wears day glo neon yellow parachute ski pants, I simply find it endearing and not eye searing. Objectivity is completely out the window. Perfect wonderful perfect man.

When asked if he had a message for his fans at this, he just looked deeply in the camera and smiled and said “I hope you are all doing well!” and ugh I just wanted to punch him in the face because my entire body just sort of doubled over with wanting.

Him and Hemsworth, ruining my life.

      • LCTerrill

Yep. This. I’ve seen Thor a ridiculous amount of times now, and every time it makes me feel funny in my bathing-suit parts. The two of them are just too much.

And then add in the Evans, Renner, Ruffalo, and Downey Jr. into the mix of the Avengers, and I’m done. Count me out.

        • editrixie

Bonus points for the Liz Lemon shout out.

    • Carly Warnock

mmmmm. although, is he wearing self tanner or bronzer? his colouring is slightly off.

    • Carly Warnock

oh wait, i read the very insightful comment about the wig tan and that makes good sense. he is sexy tanlines or not.

    • MinAgain

He just looks happy to be here.

    • holdstillnow

He looks like a Muppet.  A pretty, suave and debonair Muppet.

    • SophieCollier

Thank you TLo!   I almost squealed when I saw him on the front page.  You are so good to us.  *proceeds to clean monitor with tongue*

    • Pauline Wong

*ovaries exploding* FINALLY. FINALLY. I LIKE THIS PICTURE. ANOTHER!!

    • Janey

      damn he looks good here

    • Bethany Roullett

Thank you, T Lo.  Thank you thank you Thank you.

    • guest2visits

      The stripes up the sides of the pants, the satin lapels, bow tie… make the suit look like a period costume to me;
… but he wears it perfectly well.

    • skadi1

My nerd heart is fluttering rapidly, and thanks you from the bottom of its Tom-Hiddleston-adoring depths.

    • julnyes

All things are improved by more Hiddles. Thank you TLo!

    • almondemy

Dear photographers, please feature Mr. Hiddleston and Michael Fassbinder in an editorial together.

    • Irina Ryabchuk

      Now more Cumberbatch please.

    • korilian

OMG it’s Hiddles! Lunatic grin and all! *le sigh*

Honestly I’m a fan, but I don’t think he’s necessarily the most photogenic guy. But every now and then he’ll take a stunning picture and when you see him move… Baby’s got something going for him (I do hope he regrows the beard, though he probably shaved it off for a role).

    • decormaven

Finally! A man who knows how to wear a tux. Minor infraction on the peek of white at the cummerbund, but all around good effect.

    • foodycatAlicia

Looking all debonair like that, I think the Bond franchise is due the Bond origin story.

    • aka Darth Mommy

      He’s so damn dreamy.

    • WendyD

I have nothing to contribute beyond: I LOVE HIM. HE IS PERFECT.

    • MsMajestyk

      Oh Mr. Buxton. Thank you.

    • glennethph

The lovechild of Clay Aiken and Johnny Weir.

    • maggiemaybe

He’s killing me. It’s almost too much.

    • krelnick

      Needs moar Cumberbatch.

    • Pamela

For those who are craving more Cumberbatch, check out an old sitcom from before Hugh Laurie’s days as “House” called “Fortysomething”.  Monsieur Cumberbatch plays his oldest son & looks WAY young (think it’s from 2003-ish).

      • krelnick

Oh, I know!  My beef is with TLo.  BC has been on red carpets, award shows, he’s done fashion spreads, and yet nothing.  It’s criminal, I tells ya.

    • carolynmo

He’s just a cutie. There’s a great You Tube video of him doing an impersonation of Owen Wilson that’s hilarious. Love this guy!

    • Anna_Cecilia

He’s burdened with glorious(ly) awful bronzer.

Having said that, neither the inability to apply cosmetics and the dorky/occassionally over-earnest and embarrassing things he posts on his Twitter are enough to deter me. They actually endear him to me even more.

Absolutely delicious. Him and that beautiful voice of his can tell me that I really am the most attractive girl he’s ever met, anytime. Not that I’ve superimposed my face on top of Rachel Weisz’s during that scene in The Deep Blue Sea or anything.

    • Beth G

Oh he looks so much better, and so much less like Jonny Weirs lost “good” twin, with his lighter hair.  Yum.
