Darlings, since it’s the season finale, let’s do things up in STYLE! Grab your panties and your passports, dolls, we’re jetting off to Hong Kong tonight!

Ozone bar located at the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong.

How fabulous is THAT? Don’t come if you’re prone to migraines, we’re thinking.

Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Jennifer Hudson, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, Heidi Klum

Yadda.

Now’s as good a time as any to explain why we didn’t do any “ology” posts this year. Short answer: we didn’t wanna. Sorry to any of our kittens who were looking forward to them, but this was definitely not the kind of season that inspires the sort of obsessive examination that the “ology” posts require. It’s nothing against these designers; it’s just that the show hasn’t done a very good job this season of giving them a chance to show off their creativity. The game now is The Amazing Sewing Race. Not to say that the finalists tonight aren’t at least among the most talented of the crew and all deserved to go far in the competition.

Anyway. We’ll more than likely have plenty more to say on that in the morning. We honestly wish all the finalists luck.

But enough of all this whiny shit. Let’s hunker down and try to have a good time tonight. Since no one seems to really be rooting for any one designer over the others, at least we’re all less likely to throw things at our TV tonight when the winner gets announced, right? Who’s your pick? Would any of them piss you off if they won?

It would piss me off if Chris won. ‘Cause I don’t like him. There. I said it.

    Dear Jebus,
Please have tonight’s episode be more interesting than last week’s episode.
    Amen.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

A Precious Moments Christopher win would annoy me, but it would pale in significance to my reaction to the winner of Season 9.  I like Dmitry, but aside from the annoyance that is Costello-lite, I don’t have genuinely strong feelings regarding this finale.  None of the final four collections were at all memorable.

“Since no one seems to really be rooting for any one designer over the others…”   Oh, silly TLo – clearly, you haven’t met me! ;-)  Dmitry, all the way!

“Who’s your pick?”  Dmitry!  Since episode 2, baby!

“Would any of them piss you off if they won?”  Oh, fucking Christopher, for the love of god!  I’m not gonna be able to take the fluttery hands and the big cow eyes if that fucker wins!

Totally Dmitry!  It was the candy challenge that won me over (and hardly any airplay for him) and I’ve been on team Dmitry ever since.

            Thrilled that he won!

    • SouthernGirlRena

This sounds like my corner.  As a charter member of Team Dmitry, my I join you all?  His adorable accent and dry sense of humor makes me giddy as a school girl.  I have loved most of his designs this season.  I didn’t like his final runway collection AT ALL so I’m hoping seeing it move will somehow make me love it.

If it isn’t our beloved Dmitry, then I hope for absolutely anyone else but Christopher.

  • Maria Rosenfire

Oh look, it’s the finale of this season
    of Project Runway!

    Meh.

This season has been lacklustre. Not as
bad as the last few seasons, but not good, either. I’m less invested
in the results than I’ve ever been. The designers, while inoffensive,
produced ennui-inducing collections and did ennui-inducing things
with them (I think because of a lack of time, not a lack of inherent
quality). Here is a list of some things that might, in my opinion,
    make next season suck less:

    1. Two-day challenges are your friends.

    2. No, really. They are your friends.

    3. We want clothes drama, not people
    drama.

    4. Heidi: Project Runway is not your
sweatshop. Stop using it as such.

    5. Have a contest on your website where
viewers can submit ideas for challenges.

    6. When you give out challenges, make the
    parameters clear.

    7. Whoever thought of the fake baby thing
should take a long walk off a short pier.

    8. GIVE THE DESIGNERS ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE
DECENT FINALE COLLECTIONS. At least two months. Three would be
    better.

    Thank you. That is all.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Maria, this needs to be presented as a kind of manifesto, from all us BKs to Bunim-Murray and to Heidi.  Nina Garcia, if you’re reading this, TELL them!  We’re begging you.

      • Call me Bee

        A manifesto!  Yes!  I’ll sign!

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Me too!  Pass me the pen!

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          I’ll sign too!

      • Sweetpea176

Agreed.  The problem is, I don’t think we’re who Bunim-Murray wants to appeal to — we’re already loyal fans, and, even though we’re dissatisfied, we’re still watching.  We’ll watch no matter what, so why adjust to appeal to us?  That’s mighty cynical of me, I know, but isn’t that basically how marketing works?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You are, distressingly, right on the money about the true nature of things.

          • Sweetpea176

It’s not a talent of mine that everyone enjoys equally, quite frankly.

        • Monabel

I’m a bitter kitten who is too dissatisfied to watch the show. But you are right.

    • formerlyAnon

       Girl, you nailed it.

    • peacockprincess

You are spot on.  Let’s hope someone takes notice.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Seriously – someone should email this to Lifetime!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Sing it, sister.
And in re: number 7: Whoever came up with that idea should be sentenced to spend the rest of their life(lives) with a perpetually screaming fake baby.

    • http://profiles.google.com/kathy.thomas589 Kathleen Thomas

Add – realign the finale so that only the finalist present at fashion week and do away with the decoys so they have more time and present REAL finalie collections

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

You could slap that on a Change.org petition and I’d sign.

    • jjdg1007

And invite more designers, editors, stylists as guest judges! Celebrities are okay as along as they provide intelligible input (ex. Zoe Saldana), not some random TV actress.

I would also like a challenge where the contestants can collaborate with established designers. Or have them mentor from time to time, along with Tim of course.

And give them more time to shop fabric at Mood! 30 minutes is utterly insufficient.

      Bottomline: design, not drama.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Would piss me off if Chris won because WHINY QUEEN WAAAAAH BLAH BLAH.

Pushing for Fabio because he’s delicious and I want to taste every inch of him.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Baby, you’ll have to push me out of the way, cause he is ALL KINDS of hot. Unless of course, you’re open to sharing.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

        I’ll take his bottom half.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m okay with that.  I could make excellent use of his top bits.

          • ZnSD

you bitches are dirty. lol. I just wanna hold his hand and talk about clothes and art and poetry.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

He’s very pretty, but wasn’t his original shtick Dumpster Hipster?  Or have I confused him with some cannon fodder along the way?  For some reason, the thought of him dumpster diving makes it difficult for me to think he’s hot.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It was indeed. And yeah the dumpster thing is not very appealing. But dayum does he clean up nice.  Besides, I am always more attracted to a clearly sweet natured man, than not.  He comes across as deeply, genuinely kind.

          • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

Yeah, he does seem like a nice guy.  I did not like his collection, though, and I couldn’t understand what the hell the judges were on about.

    • Anathema_Device

I love his voice. He’s a hottie for sure, but his voice is the icing on the cake.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

         Pretty much, dreamy, isn’t it?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Just imagine him purring into your ear as he gingerly undresses you….

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

         And his laugh!

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m thinking its either Dmitri or Melissa for the win, based on last week. We shall see.  Boy, they finish this up just in time to start All Stars, don’t they?

    • MilaXX

Sad they can time those shows to air back to back, but can’t be bothered to better coincide with fashion week.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Yeah, too true.  I would imagine there are lots of other considerations about timing and scheduling to consider, about which we know nothing.  I does seem, though, that if you are going to do a show who’s whole reason for existence is predicated on Fashion Week, you would position its beginning and ending better.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Quelle coincidence, wouldn’t you say?

  • carolclark12

I was at lunch today, telling two of my co-workers who have never watched Project Runway, about the premise. I told them about Austin’s cornhusk dress, Korto’s seat belt coat, LeeAnn’s waves, Jeffrey’s yellow plaid avant-garde dress … and it gave me a sad.

This is the first time I really don’t care who wins.  Of course, Dmitry is my favorite of the remaining designers.  So, there’s that.  But I really wasn’t impressed with any – ANY – of the final collections.  I may actually fall asleep before it’s over.

    • MissAmynae

Oh that plaid dress was incredible!!!

Anyone but Chris is fine, but I’m rooting hard for Melissa or Fabio. I think Dmitry will get picked up by someone easily, with or without the win.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You are soooooo right. Dmitri has shown skills, professionalism, and a calm front, all through the season, all qualities that will work very much in his favor in the industry.

        • MissAmynae

I can totally see him with Roland Mouret, Halston or Anne Klein in some form or fashion.  Maybe Lord & Taylor will pick him up for a capsule collection?

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I can see Anne Klein being a great pair up for him.

          • MissAmynae

            *raises glass* here’s to hoping!

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Actually, he has worked for Anne Klein in the past, so good call!

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I would love for Dmitry to get some boost for his career from this show.

        • AnneElliot

Even Michael Kors pointed out that he was a real gentleman.  I don’t remember any tantrums or meltdowns from him at all.

      • ZnSD

yeah, I still think about that yellow plaid dress. that was when I explained “avant-garde” to my partner. Interesting that they talked about exactly that – that Fabio needed “the push” that Dmitry didn’t, he’s already “there”. Hmm.

      • MoHub

Jeffrey’s plaid dress was couture, not avant garde, and it was gorgeous but very Vivienne Westwood. The first avant garde challenge appeared in season 4 and featured the fabulous winning Siriano/March winning wollaboration.

        • MissAmynae

Thanks, Mo- its been a while!  It was a bit Westwood, but suited jeffrey’s style and was completely different from the other presentations.  I’ve seen so much dang Balmain this season with those silly shoulders its redonkulous!!

and the Siriano/March confection is on a whole ‘nother level!!!!  Simply jaw-dropping.

    • AnneElliot

I DID fall asleep when it was over, just before the final judges’ decision!  I was shocked by the finale, only because my favorite contestant actually one — I’m so used to Bunim-Murray disappointing me.  I did think Dmitry’s collection was the best.  There was only one look that bored me, yellow skirt with a black top that was just meh.  He did some really beautiful stuff.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I was thisclose to calling it a night before we got to the runway shows.  Omigod that was a boring, tedious episode.

  • ghopping

It’s going to piss me off no matter who wins.

  • BobStPaul

I will be utterly surprised if Chris doesn’t win.  I think that’s been the set-up all season.  While Dmitry has been my favorite this season, I didn’t much care for his finale collection.  The person I hope will win based on his collection is Fabio.  Truth be told, I’m simply not invested enough in anyone this season to particularly care who wins.

  • http://twitter.com/angelestrails Natasha

I’m rooting for Dmitry, he’s been one of my favorites from the beginning. I also like Fabio, but more so for his approach and potential than what he’s actually produced. Melissa was one of my early favorites, but now I’m indifferent to her. Christopher winning would piss me off!

    • dress_up_doll

This. I really liked what Melissa produced in the first few challenges, but somewhere along the way her aesthetic got lost. Dmitry has been the most consistent as far as work produced. And, yeah, I, too, will be really pissed if Chris wins.

  • formerlyAnon

It would be rudely boring to cut & past Maria Rosenfire’s FINE post (I think the third one posted?), but really, girl nailed it.

In other news, I think Chris has been anointed. Until the final collection showed I was leaning towards Dmitry, but he failed to seal the deal.

    • formerlyAnon

      So nice to be wrong!

  • peacockprincess

Okay Dimitri deserves to win because he came up with the line “One Way Monkey”  – by far my favorite designer of the season evern though his final collection was meh.

    • Kit_W

Yeah you’re right his collection was meh but that One Way Moneky’s clothes will sell like bagels.

  • formerlyAnon

And let’s pack this bar tonight, o.k. fellow Kittens? I think it needs to have some of its impact blocked from view by shoals of humanity.

I get dibs on a comfy spot with a good view of the screen. Bar snacks for dinner (hope they’re good.)  My virtual bank account is virtually quite plump, so bring me something dry, bubbly and vintage & just issue my pals here glasses as they sit down.  And keep the bottles coming and the glasses filled.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You KNOW I’m right with you.   Keep that vintage champers coming, my friend!

      • formerlyAnon

         We shall be role models.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I suppose.  It will be a HUGE imposition, but It must be done.

          • formerlyAnon

Noblesse oblige, mon ami, noblesse oblige.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Indeed we shall be.  What will the key words be for tonight’s drinking game?

          • formerlyAnon

Everyone is so good at predicting what will be said on screen, I say we base it on our viewing companions. I’m thinking any exclamation of dismay, in a tone of outrage, from the viewing audience. We’ve become jaded, so that should be safe except for those of us watching in a very large group, or with the extremely excitable.

Bonus points if one’s screeching distresses any household pets.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My cat lives with me (I have an incredibly loud voice naturally and a neurotic nature) and 4 children under 8 — 2 who are still below preschool.  Nothing phases him.

          • formerlyAnon

Well, no bonus points for you, then!  Though 4 children under 8 pretty much gets you a standing bonus point rating if everybody gets fed and has clean(-ish) clothes.

  • Call me Bee

Oooh how blue it is in here.  I’ll have a vodka onthe rocks with two olives, please.  Is is bad that I’m looking forward to this finale only becasue then this more-than-boring season will be over?
Though I loved DImitry through the whole thing and  really want him to win.  If Christopher wins, I’ll be PO’d.

  • Anathema_Device

Well, shit, I am prone to migraines and alcohol really brings them on, but since we’re all pretending to be in this fabulous bar, I guess I’ll pretend that’s not the case.

I think it’ll come down to Dmitry and Christopher. That’s what we’ve all been set up to believe anyway. I think I’ll actually stay up and watch the whole episode tonight. This season hasn’t wowed me in the least, so I usually just watch the next day or over the weekend.

I don’t miss the -ology posts as much as I miss Nina caps. Oh, those were glorious.

P.S. Jennifer Hudson looks like the world’s sexiest Girl Scout troop leader in that pantsuit.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sit with me, dear lady, we can drink virtual champagne with no hangovers or headaches.  Except the headaches doubtless to come in this episode.

      • Anathema_Device

Sounds good. And because we’re pretending, we can drink the super expensive stuff!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Is there any other kind of virtual champagne?

        • UsedtobeEP

Ugh, I missed the lounge, and work, due to a migraine. I watched the episode but couldn’t sit up to get to my computer during it. You have my sympathies.

          • Anathema_Device

And you have mine. Migraines are just the worst.

    • formerlyAnon

Yes, now that this blog is well-established & time passes as is its wont, I’m finding another venue for my burgeoning nostalgia. Nina caps, however, rival but cannot surpass the best of Musical Mondays.

    • NDC_IPCentral

“Imagination is funny, it makes a cloudy day sunny….”  I think many of us are partial to the virtues of the virtual here.  We can swill Champagne without a dreadful headache the next morning, all look fierce and lovely in a foreign locale, and be as witty as Dorothy Parker.  Which really dates me….  And that was reading in high school and beyond, I hasten to add.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

In our virtual world I’m swanning about that Hong Kong bar in that Dior number that LeeLee Sobieski was wearing…and swilling the good champers with fellow BK’s!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Not really — I had some Dorothy Parker quotes on my walls in high school and I’m only 29.  (And since this is my first time being 29, it even has the virtue of being true for the next 10 months!:)

        • NDC_IPCentral

Good grief, Shannon, I could be your mother, easily.  Or grandmother in a young family line.  The toughie is 31, by the way.

Full props on your Parker erudition.  I knew there were many reasons to like you!

          • formerlyAnon

No age ever gave me pause until 50. Somehow, that one seemed more . . . serious, and harder to ignore!

          • MoHub

Fifty didn’t bother me, but 55 hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the first birthday that made me realize I wasn’t ever going to get any younger. I’m almost 61 now and am actually more comfortable with it than I was with 55.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well, technically my mother could be my grandmother, so don’t worry about it!  (My oldest sister was 16 when I was born)

I will never see 31 as I plan to black out my birthday on every calendar I own from now on, so it will no longer exist:P

          • formerlyAnon

My mother was 27 for almost 50 years.

Then, suddenly, she just shaved 3 years off, which was her “documented” age. I really am not joking, her doctors didn’t know her real age, and when my parents had their wills made (in their 50s) my dad about had apoplexy when he realized that she had official documents with three different birth dates.

I still wouldn’t be surprised to find out that 3 years really was 5.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My mother in law has an unknown birthdate.  My husband has thought his mother was 42 for more than a decade, and no one can ever prove her age because her “official” DOB is wrong due to a mix up at immigration.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

            deleted.

          • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

No way, hitting 30 was a relief, but I turned 30 when I was 27 because I have a sister who is three years older and I just always identify with whatever age she is.  But the actuality of leaving my 20s behind was such a weight off.  It’s not like I felt older, and I don’t look my age despite some premature grays at my temples.  So it wasn’t difficult for me.  It made me feel like I was actually an adult.

  • Funkykatt

I don’t care who wins too, I can’t even remember their names. I guess this is why there are many ‘all-star’ shows, because there’s nothing interesting left out there in ProjectRunwayUSA land.

OMG, Fabio must already be doing well to afford that huge loft space on 5th Ave.

*sigh* Married to Fabio’s lean glory, listening to his voice chastise me for abandoning freeganism for excellent coffee, AND having a dad with a loanable loft on 5th Ave.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Christopher is this year’s Anya for sure. All the collections looked bad but at least Dmitry’s is well-executed and he should win on sheer volume of memorable one-liners and the number of times he was robbed of a challenge win.

Given that I’ve not watched this season at all and am only going from your (excellent) coverage and the fabulous BK commentary –  I’d go for Dmitry or Fabio.

  • Rosington

Dmitry for the win!!  I love his sleekness and perfectionism….  Of course, I would have to spanx to wear his clothes.  Maybe I should vote for Fabio then…  ;-)

  • MilaXX

I’m spoiled and still don’t care. The only thing that would slightly piss me off is if Christopher won. Still pass the bottle, I would love to get rip roaring drunk.

    • formerlyAnon

Go ahead, my friend. Our pretend money will pay for hot & cold running cabs, afterwards.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Your pretend money might pay for cabs, but mine will pay for drinks and Dmitry can drive me home… If you’re going to imagine, you should go all the way:P

        • formerlyAnon

Should we all follow your advice, your car is going to be rather crowded.

And you’re definitely going to have to sneak out while Lisa’s in the bathroom.

    • dschubba

In previous seasons, I avoided the finale collections like the plague, but I didn’t even care this time around.

  • some0neelse

Dmitry for the win!  I would be really pissed off if either Christopher or Melissa won.

  • JMansm

This comment comes from having seen photos of all the collections (ie. the episode hasn’t aired yet) but Christopher’s is such a mess. Melissa’s is interesting (note that most of the details are on the back of her garments which is a weird strategy), Dmitry’s is good (he did separates) but a bit cheap and weird looking and Fabio’s is impressive and thoughtful but maybe too “drab” for Project Runway. I would love if Melissa won but either Fabio or Dmitry would be great too. The mini collections from last episode were not a strong indication of the collections at all.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Christopher’s collection alternates between instances of his okay-looking but terribly used x-ray print and of his yawn-inducing shredding technique.

Fabio’s extended judging made me realize how thoughtful he is. He baked clay, guys. He HAND PAINTED, guys. HE ACTUALLY HAS A CONCEPT, GUYS. Now if only he had enough time to make more complex garments….

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

He is clearly the most creative designer, and in my mind is the most deserving of the push forward, but B-M is not going to have him win. Count on it.

        • minnye

Yeah, he’s too “weird.” Bah. >:(

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I really love Dmitry and I want to see him win on a personal level.  But Fabio is by far the most interesting designer they’ve had in a long while.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Yeah, without question, he’s got the most unique and intriguing perspective PR has had come round in ages.

        • Qitkat

You nailed that one. I realized I was rooting for Fabio right before they announced Dmitry. I has a sad; and the really peculiar thing is I didn’t care at all for the entire season.

  • Janet B

Dmitry is my favorite and Fabio is a close second, although it’s because of the former’s humor and the latter’s  voice.

  • CarolinLA

I am rooting for Christopher.  OK – put the knives down!!!!!!  I think he’s been the most consistent of the remaining four.  I like his business sense and I think he will grow out of his wide-eyed douchiness. Of the four designers left, I think only Melissa winning would annoy me.  She’s been on my last nerve for a while, mostly for repeating the same looks.  I’m looking forward to seeing Fabio’s collection in motion and I’m interested to see how many variations on a cocktail dress that Dmitry can do in ten looks.

    • formerlyAnon

I think you’re right about why he’s the one to beat. He may have been the one of the producers’ favorites originally for his histrionics, but the perception that he usually figured out how to make a salable, if not exciting, garment within the challenges make him appealing to the retailer (L&T).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

Woo hoo! Almost time for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars! Thank God. Does anyone know if filming wrapped up before Manila had to deal with Sahara’s death?

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well, I miss the -Ology posts, but I can’t say I don’t understand.  One of these days this show is going to get awesome again.  Or cancelled… cancelled is always an option too.

There will be a TLOunge next week for All-Stars right?  ‘Cause that’s why I still look forward to Thursday night viewing!

  • LesYeuxHiboux

I would be happy with any of the remaining four, but most happy with Dmitry or Fabio…least happy with Chris.

  • JuliaInBlack

I’m not on Team Anyone, exactly, but I guess I would be slightly disappointed to see Melissa win. Her collection didn’t wow me and her time management issues have irked me throughout the season way more than Christopher’s OMG you like me! schtick ever did. If I were betting I’d pick Chris or Dmitry.

We also had a Dmitry “one way monkey” moment this week, courtesy of my husband’s Ukrainian co-worker. They were discussing a particularly dense (for lack of a better word) person at work who had made some big mistakes… the guy cocked an eyebrow and said “He’s not exactly the sharpest knife in the cookie jar, is he?”

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

That’ll teach those kids for sneaking cookies before dinner!! *evil laughter*

    • CozyCat

There’s nothing better than a new English speaker re inventing the language for us!  Go, you witty, verbally creative insane-in-the-Ukraine devil you!

  • NDC_IPCentral

I had actually been wondering whether the Lounge was going to be absent as a sort of comment on what Season 10 has wrought.  Which ain’t much.

I just had a very tasty kale, onion, potato and chicken one-pot dinner courtesy of a Food & Wine recipe (kale, the miracle veg), with a beer.  Not extraordinarily festive, but mighty satisfying.  Unlike *ahem* Season 10.

Beats me who’ll win, since I didn’t watch last week in favor of the vice-presidential debate (which WAS good TeeVee), so… I’ll watch if I can keep my eyes open and chalk S10 up to safe, stodgy, boring and listless.  Here’s hoping that the All Stars are entertaining and that B-M, Lifetime and the rest of the meddlers get their acts together in a good way to borrow an overused PR phrase, for Season 11.

    • formerlyAnon

Yes, I am hoping for too much from the All Stars, I’m sure.

(And am glad “very tasty” has re-entered your lexicon.)

      • NDC_IPCentral

It has, and you’re so kind for noticing.  The recipe comes from Food & Wine and was one they were promoting last week.  I imagine that you’d find it pretty easily on F&W’s site by entering the various components into the search field.  Ah, it’s called “Roasted Chicken Legs with Potatoes and Kale” by Grace Parisi.

I have, however, had a massive shed of hair over the weekend, and I didn’t have that much, though it had been growing.  I went to my sweet barber three blocks away today, and I now have a haircut short enough (well <1 inch) to rival any little boy's from the 1950s.  There are some just-gone-to-stubble spots, which didn't happen last spring.  Well, variety's the spice of life.

I'll enjoy the sense of taste while I have it.  I expect it will go on hiatus once again, maybe next month, doubtless eventually.  Next Tuesday is Maintenance Infusion #2.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

           Yay, food!

Go for a turban over the stubble — if you can’t have great hair, you might as well have great style.

          • NDC_IPCentral

I actually have several baseball caps that are my defaults, since I like the bill to shade my eyes – I have been somewhat photophobic/photosensitive for a few years now.  A couple of my very dear friends sent me handmade (and very well handmade, not “loving hands at home”) knit caps and berets.  I’ll very possibly be using them if I have no or not much hair as winter sets in.  I bought a turban from the American Cancer Society’s TLC site, and I have to say, it just reeks of “old lady.”  I don’t think that turban is my look.  I have a well-shaped head and pretty big eyes – there is a whiff of Sinead O’Connor – so I’m hoping to project an edge or some quirkiness with whatever headgear I’m sporting.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I actually told my neurologist that I couldn’t have anything requiring surgery because they could not shave my head — I have an older brother who looks a VERY great deal like me, and his is shaved due to baldness.  I maintain I’d look like him with significant weight gain, giving him man boobs.

          • NDC_IPCentral

This is not meant in any way as condescending – please understand that, but I can see you might be more concerned about having a head of hair than I am.  My hair’s been short for decades, and that’s the best length for my head, both as to looks and attitude.  As I know women who’ve lost all their hair to chemo (my heroic and fantastic sister-in-law being my role model), one just realizes that tying one’s appearance to hair is just Not That Important in the health scheme of things.  But we’re all older than you.  I might have felt different were this all hitting me at your age.  Then again, my dentist this week told me his TWO daughters both were diagnosed with ovarian cancer (mine) in their teens (not all that long ago).  GEEZE O PETE.  Both lost an ovary but now are OK.  I repeat: GEEZE O PETE.

I have nothing to complain about and more to be thankful about than I can enumerate or express.

          • formerlyAnon

             GEEZE O PETE indeed.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, honey, I know!  I just go for morbid humor whenever dealing with my doctor — it keeps him alive, because the other option is to plot his death every time I talk to him:)

          • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

buy some huge and beautiful earrings!

          • Qitkat

Here’s another option, have you ever seen SpiritHoods? I think they may have popped up as an ad on this website. Awesome for winter, and really cool looking, and politically correct because the fur is fake, but looks so real. A little pricey, but for some reason I am beside myself with wanting one, even though all those modeling them are Shannon’s age, and I am, ahem, also in the company of the elders (can I get away with saying that?) on this blog.
So glad you are enjoying tasty food. Your tough cookie attitude tempered with thankfulness continues to be inspiring.

        • minnye

Just googled the recipe, thanks :) and tons of best wishes for your treatments.

          • NDC_IPCentral

Good eats, Minnye!  And I’m tumor free; this is maintenance chemo, an aggressive monthly regimen that my docs think I can tolerate.  It’s supposed to lengthen the interval to (potential) recurrence.  If the side effects get to serious, my oncologist will re-think or terminate the regimen.  I’m doing really well and have dodged the CA monster, I believe. (quite a saga)

          • minnye

            So glad to hear that.

        • formerlyAnon

I’ll go hunt that recipe down.

This Maintenance Infusion cycle is going to get old, quickly. I hope the cycle holds firm, over the months, and that the “good” weeks will stay just as good and not get crappier & crappier over time. Because, really? You’ve put in enough time feeling puny.

Ah well. It’ll all be worth it for many cancer free years ahead, but I think it sounds like it sucks for now.

          • NDC_IPCentral

fA – there’s a part of me that takes comfort in the routine of chemo, so to speak.  I actually felt rather adrift in the six weeks from mid-August to late September without it.  That may sound weird, but the staff at my oncologist’s office said my reaction was not uncommon.  Well, maintenance chemo also qualifies me for part-time disability status at my job, so I get partial compensation for the 3 days a week I’m not working.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yes, it will likely get tougher as time goes on, and that will be evaluated by my doctor and me.  I felt I was a pretty good soldier (“tough cookie” = my oncologist’s highest accolade) during the cycles of chemo in the spring and summer.  Cookie or crumbs as time passes now?  Time will tell!

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

That makes total sense to me — people can adjust to a lot of difficult circumstances, until they become part of the norm.  When that goes away, it’s unnerving — happy, but unnerving.  I still feel weird sometimes about not being at therapy every week, and it’s been years since I did twice weekly sessions.

    • alyce1213

I love kale.  I shred some in almost every soup or stew I eat for extra nutritive value.

      • NDC_IPCentral

You’re a smart gal, Alyce – check out the recipe I mentioned in my reply to formerlyAnon.

        • alyce1213

Found it, thanks much NDC_.  It looks lovely — simple and pure flavors, I will make it soon.
In Spring at my local farmer’s market they have all kinds of kale — baby kale (very tender), red, Russian, etc.  I’m also partial to chard in all its colors and forms.
I’ve read your posts and my thoughts are with you. Lately I’ve been going through a life crisis of a different sort and find much fun and comfort in the camaraderie, bitching, sharing, and arguing here at T-Lo.

I wish you good eating and good health.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Just because B/M sucks is no reason for the Lounge to be empty?  We’re all still fabulous — we just won’t invite the producers to our bar.

    • CozyCat

Oh, I love Kale!  Check out a recipe on Chow dot com, “winter greens soup” which uses kale, chard, and many other veggies in soup that is delicious and so healthy that every serving extends your lifespan 15 minutes!  (it freezes well, too)
It says a lot about this season that we are spending our time enthusiastically discussing kale….

      • NDC_IPCentral

“Kale discussion enthusiasm” – you hit the nail on the head, CozyCat!

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

if the tlounge should ever go away, i will curl up in a fetal ball of sadness.  god, i’m a pathetic addict!

      • formerlyAnon

         Oh, you have company, there.

  • Sara__B

Since fashion looks better in motion than in photos, I will watch and try to stay awake.
I like Dmitry’s personality and Fabio is a sweetheart, but I really don’t care who wins.

  • Presumptuous Insect

Fabio for the win. I like his collection best. Btw, Heidi looks ridiculous.

    • Stubenville

Heidi is in full cougar mode tonight.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Whenever I see La Klum in this kind of dress I roll my eyes and think, Yeah, gal, we know you’re single again, and you’re hot….

  • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

I went to a wonderful tapas restaurant tonight so keep the virtual margaritas coming.

  • Toto Maya

I guess I’m rooting for Dimitry. I know Chris is going to win. If it isn’t him I’ll be pleasantly shocked. But of the final four, only Dimitry really seems to have the talent to actually do something with the winnings. I can’t see Chris making it in fashion. His stuff is generic.

    • alula_auburn

Chris complaining that someone else lacks originality and innovation is hilarious.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

if chris wins, i will quietly throw up and hope for better from the wacky all-stars.

  • Stubenville

So I predict a true shocker – make another look!  And we’ll give you a former competitor as a slave pet assistant dogsbody. Yawn.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

and they will all nearly die of mortal shock at this unprecedented twist!

  • lill5

Since the judges haven’t based their decisions on design for years I won’t, either. I’m rooting for Fabio just because I like him best.

  • Stubenville

I need some serious liquor if I’m going to make it through this whinefest tonight.

    • Call me Bee

Me too.  Have some vodka–that’s pretty serious liquor.

    • NDC_IPCentral

I’m on my second bottle of beer, and the stringing out of the non-action and the dreadful ads are making me nertz.  Where are the debates?  Whinefest is the spot-on characterization.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

chez sleah, we’re serving our signature salvadorean lemon/ limeade with two shots of flor de cana rum and a mint garnish.  shall i make you one?

  • dschubba

I hope someone wins and someone loses tonight!

  • snich11

Fabio! Love that he uses COLOR (I’m so tired of BLACK!!)

  • zelavie

Chris, they WERE doing you a favor by moving you forward.  You twit.

  • alula_auburn

Two minutes in and it’s all ready SHUT UP CHRIS.

  • ChristinaRi

Oh, Chrissy poo.   They are doing you a favor by moving you through.

One week you’re in, the next week you’re out.   Remember?

  • MilaXX

    great, more 1 day clothing.

  • VicksieDo

Oh, I care who wins. Dmitry or Fabio can win, Chris and Melissa canNOT!  None of these collections is worth a damn, but I’ll be watching. Sigh.

  • zelavie

I fully expect a Chris victory (because they producers clearly decided on that a long time ago), but I’ll be happy with whoever.  Dmitri and Melissa are my favorites.

  • dschubba

Don’t make the same mistake Viktor made!

  • Maria Rosenfire

“All right, designers, let’s head to Mood to see if we can make your collections even a little bit less hideous.”

    • Maria Rosenfire

”Well, that was a waste of $1200.”

  • alula_auburn

    Swatch! Bye, Swatch!

    LOL,Chris,”they just don’t have anything!”

  • Stubenville

    Swatch looks like the audience feels. B O R E D.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

When was the last time they had the “create an additional look for your collection” thing in the finale?  That was so much better than this last minute preview.

  • PhillyJen

Poor Christopher. I’m so sorry they’re not just sending everyone else home and handing you the prize like you expect.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Do we really consider leather a “fabric”?  I never think of it as a fabric, per se….

  • MintaHallWriter

In looking at final collections Iike Melissa’s the best, was deeply disappointed in Dmitry,  didn’t like Christopher’s at all and thought Fabio’s was too sportswear-casual for the judges to give him the win.

So…I’m calling for Melissa to win.

So sick of all the Loreal hair product ad placements. Seriously? You think we believe these ad dialogues???

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I do not want my hair gilded.  I do not want anyone’s hair gilded.  Why…?!?

    • Stubenville

Apparently walking around with crap in your hair is “youthful.” As in like a toddler.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I get baby food in my hair daily — who knew I was so trendy?

        • bitchybitchybitchy

You’ve been on the cutting edge!

  • ChristinaRi

Seriously, Dimtry?  You’re letting them put tin foil on the model’s hair?

  • TheGreatFiction

I’d be sad if Chris won, too, but you do realize that he’s the reason they let 4 go to the finals?  Clearly, his three pieces were the worst.  It’s not as bad as last year when they had the surprise “Here’s extra money for Anya, I mean, for everyone to make one more dress”.  But I think it’s a bad omen for the Chris haters.

  • http://twitter.com/TigerLaverada TigerLaverada

I’m another who doesn’t have a favorite dog in this hunt. Only collection I responded to was Elena’s, so I don’t really care. I’m mildly interested to see how the judges find fab things to say about the winner’s collection, whichever one it is. I find them all yawn pie with snore sauce, myself.

  • Kimbolina

Those were some ugly shoes that Melissa had with that white dress.  Also, ridiculous winner’s edit for Christopher, yeah?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes, our little Precious Moments designer is getting all the hallmarks of a winning edit-frantic, “I don’t know HOW I’m going to be this done”, yadda, yadda, yadda.  Puh-leez.

  • MintaHallWriter

Who wants to vote Miss Chrissy as whiny-ass of the competition?

    • CozyCat

His TH’s have reached a new level of entitledness (word?) tonight.  “I won more challenges!  How can they criticize me!”

Unfortunately, I’m fearful that they’re setting up the one-episdode-redemption-arc.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

To Chris:  Daniel Vosovich won a shitload of challenges in Season Two, was a better designer, and he lost. STFU.

  • http://www.facebook.com/allyn.humphreys Allyn Adell Humphreys

    ABC . . . anyone but Chris.

  • alula_auburn

Watching Chris whine and angst and flounce, it really feels more and more like a shitty Grey’s Anatomy episode or something. Which is probably the ultimate Lifetime winner’s edit.

  • dschubba

Ugh! Why are they making it so hard for Official Frontrunner™ Christopher to collect his rightfully-deserved win?!

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I could never do that part — the hair consult would annoy me to no end.  I don’t even consult on my own hair.  I just tell my stylist I want it longer than my chin and to keep it from getting puffy.  That or I hack at it myself when it’s bothering me too much while I’m working — I try not to do that, my stylist hits me with a brush when I do (we’ve been friends forever, so she can.)

  • dschubba

…did I mishear that, or is Bret Michaels selling pet Halloween costumes?

    • zelavie

You definitely did not mishear that.  I was taken aback the first time I saw his pet clothing line too.  So weird.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I wonder if my extremely tolerant cat would allow that….

  • Bittybis

Yeah, tin foil on the hair takes it from matronly to crazy cat lady. Not the right direction, Dimitri.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know, I hope he listens.

  • Stubenville

    STFU Christopher.

  • alula_auburn

yay for replaying the Nina scissors moment!

  • Maria Rosenfire

It’s kind of amazing how many of the commercials are based on all the money-grubbing challenges that they’ve had this season. 6 of the 12 challenges were sponsored, by my count.

    • formerlyAnon

I’ve been wondering for a while if this show doesn’t set some kind of industry record for how much of the production costs they recoup or save with product placement/sponsorship combined with cheap short cuts.  I don’t care how much they spend(waste) on decoy collections, I’ve gotta believe that this show is a moneymaker.

  • Stubenville

Christopher is getting WAY too much screen time.

  • Kimbolina

    Ahhh, I love Fabio.

    • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

He makes you want to hug him.

      • Qitkat

Nah, I wanted to punch him. And I’m a very non-violent person.

  • dschubba

How many times did that model have to politely tell her that it’s not the shoe?

  • alula_auburn

OMG, “Everything’s bad to me”? He is seriously acting like a twelve-year-old.

How much do I love the editor for the little close-up of Fabio’s fingers illustrating the shoe issue?

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

If he wants to wear make-up every day, why doesn’t he?  I mean, if you’re going to wear a dress, you can certainly do a Johnny Depp eyeliner.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Fabio if your heart is shaking, you should forget FW and find a cardiologist immediately!  Hearts don’t shake.

  • zelavie

    WOW.  ”She’s so pretentious.”

So, Chris, are you the pot or the kettle?

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

RIGHT?  My jaw just dropped at the fucking stones on this kid!

    • Stubenville

Actually I think he’s a grease stain on the wall behind the stove.

    • CozyCat

Oh, I didn’t think it was possible for me to hate him more.  And then he said THAT!

I hope Melissa wins, and the judges particularly love the “blood orange” piece (and btw:  I knew immediately what she meant)  Actually,

I hope Fabio or Dmitry win, but I now have a reason to not be upset with a Melissa win.

  • Stubenville

I really don’t care which one wins, although I’d be happier if Dmitri or Fabio won. At least all of them can sew sleeves.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I’ve reminded myself of that fact throughout this season, and then think what a sad commentary that is on PR.  Then again, they are also capable of matching patterns so that they don’t send shmattas with MISMATCHED seams down the runway, too.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My my, someone here is feeling a little touchy, isn’t he?  I think I like him better bitchy instead of whiny.

  • Stubenville

Thank you Tim – good advice.

  • ChristinaRi

Chris was right on about the “blood orange.”  :D

But, isn’t that what designers do?

And Dimtry NOBODY is going to love the tin foil.  Nobody.

  • dschubba

Has it really only been 22 minutes with Christopher? It feels like so much more.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

It ALWAYS feels like so much more when you’re with Christopher…

  • guest2visits

Whoa… thats it;  Fabio for the win due to his kinetic abilities to dimple the tv screen..!   I feel you Fabio!   (in the most fashiony way)

All stars commercial. Don’t know if you’ll win Casanova, but yes, you are fabulous and I’ll enjoy seeing you again.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know, I”m so excited to see him again!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Casanova was such a fun presence during his season of PR. Plooosh Puppies, anyone?

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i love love love casanova!  Eggs-zack-leeeee!

  • Kimbolina

As annoying as Christopher is this episode, I totally laughed at his blood orange thing.

  • MintaHallWriter

MISS CHRISSY complains of someone being pretentious?  Seriously?  And he’s not talking about himself?

I’m definitely wanting anyone but the aforementioned Miss Chrissy to win, but he’s also clearly getting the winner’s edit.

    I want him 4th.

Actually the other 3 are all nice but Dmitry’s final styling just killed his collection. Not good.  I like him, but don’t see him winning.

And I think Fabio’s collection was too one-note and too casual. Very salable, pretty stuff but I don’t think it’s “fashion forward” enough for the judges to give him the go-ahead.

Go Melissa.  Which probably means she’ll be in the bottom…

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

how can dimitry think his styling decisions are young?  or did he forget about that.

  • dschubba

Oh great, Christopher is shredding again.

  • Stubenville

No Miss Whiney Pants, you had five weeks to make your wow pieces.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I just want to give Christopher a Valium or pot brownie… something.

    • Stubenville

      How about a slap?

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Seriously, I’m positive Fabio has some pot somewhere — watching Christopher spaz out is beginning to stress me out.

        • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

really, fabio is sort of the rasta priest for the group, trying to calm everyone with his good vibes.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        A slap would work.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m flashing back to that scene in “Airplane” when half of the passengers are lined up to slap the hysterical woman.  Shall we form a virtual line for slapping?

    • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

He does not deserve a pot brownie!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

But the rest of us have done nothing to deserve having to listen to him — I had a couple friends in high school that I would encourage to get stoned just to shut them up a bit.

  • Maria Rosenfire

How on Earth did Chris and Melissa make it this far with absolutely no time management skills? It’s embarrassing.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I like Dmitry more every time he speaks.

  • alula_auburn

“Christopher, this is no time to be petulant!”

  • zelavie

“Christopher, this is no time to be petulant.”

Best Tim quote of the season!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      And it’s so perfect!

    • AthenaJ

Yes! Papa Tim layin down the law!

  • dschubba

Did Christopher edit this episode? Dear god…

    • jjfg

SERIOUSLY.  I’m wearing out the mute button on my remote, hitting it every time he opens his mouth.

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know I”m setting myself up for bad karma, but watching Christopher implode and turn into a total little bitch is DEEEELICIOUS!  This fucking kid can’t get off my screen fast enough.

    • alula_auburn

I was basically indifferent to him for the first half of the season–I cut him more slack for that whole weird pairs challenge and the mass exodus than a lot of people–but I’m amazed by how obnoxious he’s made himself just in the past couple of  episodes, and then upped by a factor of ten in the last thirty minutes.  He’s such a spoiled child.

  • BobStPaul

Man, this is an annoying episode – not least because it feels like a “Christopher-for-the-win” edit – overcoming adversity, blah blah blah.

  • CrazyAuntie

I don’t really care who wins.  I guess I’m rooting for Fabio because he seems like a sweetie…and I love a man in a dress…

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

“Oooooh, alcohol!”  Oh, Dmitry – how I’m going to miss you, baby!

    • NDC_IPCentral

A brilliant statement from Our Man Dimitry.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

a man after my own heart…

  • Peeve

As annoying as I found Chris to be in previous episodes, I now want ANYONE to win but him! Which means he’ll win, dammit. What a whiny, infantile POS…

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I really wish they wouldn’t show commercials for Heidi’s crap.  It always disturbs me… it’s like clothing for cannibal parents…

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Please-cannibal parents would have better taste than Heidi’s crap.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

         Hee hee hee… puns… I love puns.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          I couldn’t resist!  It was too tempting….

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Can we substitute Michael Costello for Whiney Pants?

  • Maria Rosenfire

Am I the only person who thinks that Fabio would give the best hugs ever?

    • CrazyAuntie

Nope – I’m thikin he does too!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Fabio comes across as someone who would be so cool to hang out with, and ready with a good hug when his friends need one.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i would love to get high with fabio.  too bad my lungs are shot- years of abuse take their toll.

      • Qitkat

thus the *hippy geezer* description? ;-)

        • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

eggs-zack-leeee!  after twenty years my lungs said “if you put any more of that crap in here, we’re going on strike”.  i get asthmatic bronchitis on the first inhale.  fortunately, cali has readily available medical edibles for those times of need.

    • Qitkat

He was the only good thing with the fake baby episode.

  • dress_up_doll

    Frokemon sighting!

    • AthenaJ

      And he looks happy! Yay!!

  • Stubenville

Oh Dmitri, the hair looks like crap. Bad call.

  • Kimbolina

Dimitry’s models’ hair… not digging the silver leaf or whatever.

  • Stubenville

Heidi in a gold shower curtain. Oooh, sparkly!

    • alula_auburn

      And orange.

      • AthenaJ

I think she went spray tanning with Kors.

  • alula_auburn

I kind of love how Dmitry “freaking out” looks so much like every day Dmitry. Take a hint, Christopher, you big fake drama queen.

  • SnackBandit

Oh my God.  Is Christopher getting the win edit?  Is he paying the cameraman?  Jeez, he’s taking up valuable Dmitry time!

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

    Do or die….let me pick….

  • Peeve

And, unfortunately, Heidi, you and the producers are busily dismantling everything the fans loved about your show as we speak!

  • dschubba

Was that Original Recipe Michael Costello?

  • alula_auburn

    Bored now.

  • Wellworn

They are really focusing on Christopher’s struggle.  He is getting the winner’s edit, I fear.

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

I’m watching this ith my 18 y/o, who’s in the hospital with a staph infection. She’s never seen the show. Chris’s show starts & she’s all “really?” & rolling her eyes. I raised her right.

    • CozyCat

      Good Momma!

    • formerlyAnon

Obviously you DID raise her right.  Healing vibes for your daughter. Those can be stubborn, I hope she’s home and feeling good SOON.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

       I hope she feels better!

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Kinda liked Chris’s second look.  And he’s better than Anya — at least he realized that an unfinished hem was wrong.

    • ChristinaRi

definitely better than Anya.   Everyone is.

  • Cindy Claussen

I think that x ray idea used by Christopher is so corny and obvious, like an attempt to inject something personal but looks so contrived

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

    Oh, that dress is tragic.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

    Fugly print!

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Why is the color on the gown lined up so badly on her ass?  And why does it fit so poorly through the back.

  • dschubba

I’m not digging those Loki foreheads all of Christopher’s models are rocking.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Did his model catch in the gown leaving the runway?

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      I think so.

  • ChristinaRi

Chris’s wasn’t as bad as it was in the pictures.   I did not like the back of that gown tho.

    • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

      The model was struggling.

    • MilaXX

       still too many shorts

      • ChristinaRi

definitely too many shorts and too sluty.  Better than I expected.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i hate chrissypoo as much as the next kitten, but i have to say his collection was much better than the three pieces he showed last week.

  • Call me Bee

Does it seem to you that the models are just mincing their way down the runway with tiny little steps?  Are they all just bad walkers, or is that the fashion now, as that horsey stomp was was 8-9 years ago?

    • zelavie

I think they got the models who couldn’t get into any other shows.  The posture of that first girl was horrendous.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=668300493 Patsye Dickinson Peebles

With all those crazy heels out there now, I think they are just trying hard not to break their ankles on the runway.

  • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

I’m wondering if Heidi & Michael were commenting to each other that the model couldn’t walk in the gown.

    –GothamTomato

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

She almost toppled over right at the end.

    • ChristinaRi

i was wondering the same.   Or maybe it was about the mismatched back.  or both.

  • Cindy Claussen

The ombre gown looks like a cheap Christian Siriano knockoff, and the lines are poorly matched in the back

    • zelavie

And the waist/bodice was poorly fitted, at that!

    • NDC_IPCentral

I flashed back to Christian, and Christopher was wanting beyond all calculations in comparison.

  • MilaXX

So Chris took his black/brown/white collection and added blue and burgundy to it?

  • zelavie

How are the other designers who showed sitting in the audience?  Wouldn’t they also have to be backstage?  Or do they have some buffer time between each collection or something?  Or, perhaps, (not that the producers would ever do this) they staged them sitting in the dark and clapping?

  • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

Gotta say though, I miss some of the clothes because my attention is diverted from looking for Tlo in the audience. Can’t help it.

    –GothamTomato

    • Peeve

I thought I was the only one doing that! ;-)

  • In_Stitches

I stand by my initial impression; Christopher’s collection is kind of slutty.

    • SnackBandit

I know, right?  Those purple bootyshorts had my mouth hanging open.  I mean, seriously?

    • http://www.facebook.com/nancy.wardle Nancy Wardle

You just know Heidi is wondering how fast she can rip those clothes off the models.

    • ChristinaRi

definitely slutty.  set the tone with that first look.

  • ChristinaRi

    Melissa looks great.

  • MilaXX

Hair and makeup are a definitely improvement.

  • Kimbolina

Ok, I gotta say, it’s kind of adorable how they all hold on to Tim while they’re watching back stage.

  • Stubenville

    Leather bathing suit? Really?

  • Stubenville

    That white dress is tortured.

  • Cindy Claussen

Was Mondo wearing a fake vinyl moustache?

    • zelavie

I was trying to figure out who that was!

  • Stubenville

    Hate the damn hoofs shoes.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Melissa isn’t as innovative as Fabio, but she just seems so adorable.  And I really like a lot of her pieces — I could see buying some if they were tweaked.

  • alula_auburn

Oh, that model in the white gown was almost painful to watch struggling down the aisle.

    • watchmeboogie

I can’t figure out if it was the shoes or the dress! Both looked incredibly uncomfortable.

Dmity’s music is cracking me up.

      • alula_auburn

        It’s so tinkly!

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

melissa should have put a slit in it.  duh.

  • dschubba

How many times have we seen that ~blood orange~ dress from her?

  • Kimbolina

I feel so bad for that model stuck in the white dress.  Yikes.

  • alula_auburn

I still don’t get the eyebrows.  I find them much more distracting than the hair.

  • Cindy Claussen

I dont get the painted eyebrows Dmitri

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

At least his models look comfortable in his clothes!

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I like the print Dmitry used with the fringe.

  • Stubenville

The Frieda Kahlo brows are heinous.

    • Peeve

       I second that–very distracting!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I hate when they make the eyebrows weird.  For some reason that’s the one make-up effect that makes me crazy.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

how can he not see how awful that looks.  stern and old faces.  and the hair was a total waste of time.

  • dschubba

They really struggled to cut around those exposed boobs.

  • MilaXX

I know cut out are on trend, but I think parts of Dmitry’s collection looks hooker-ish

  • Call me Bee

One of the things I do love about the PR runway shows is that there are family members in the tent, indeed in the front row, that would otherwise NEVER be there!

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

OMG IT’S SPARKLY FRINGE!  I want it!  It’s insane and tacky and wonderful!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      I fucking LOVED that!!

  • nosniveling

Dimitri’s styling was WTF but the clothes are great

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know, I hope the styling doesn’t hurt him.

      • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

I’ve been rooting for him since about the 3rd episode. He sounds like Boris Badenov and that makes me giggle. The fact that his clothes are usually great only helps.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

    Seemed like Nina liked…

  • Cindy Claussen

the last one from Dmitri is pure las Vegas showgirl

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Vegas showgirl or ballroom dancing, but I loved it anyway.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Me too!

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I would wear that around my house whenever I was bummed just so I could pretend I was Cher.

      • AthenaJ

Same here, it was fun and memorable.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Absolutely and how is that not awesome?!?

  • CozyCat

I’m hoping that the fact that the judges seemed more animated during Dmitry’s collection bodes well….

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I hope so too.  I like it better in movement than I did in the pictures.

    • Toto Maya

They’ll probably hand him second place.

  • Stubenville

Fabio is dressed like an elderly lesbian.

    • Wellworn

I know, even though I loved his collection, you put those clothes in Miami in the 80s and the Golden Girls would be all over them.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

The 3rd model looks like her face froze while doing Lamaze breathing

  • MilaXX

Some of these models can’t walk to save their lives.

    • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

Yes, not a single good walker.

      –GothamTomato

  • Call me Bee

Having not seen the collections before this, I am totally underwhelmed with Dimitry’s collection.   And Fabio’s is pretty interesting.

  • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

I’m going to have nightmares about those eyebrows.

    –GothamTomato

  • ChristinaRi

    Dimtry looked so cute!

  • alula_auburn

The closed captions have deemed Fabio’s music “brooding.”  But I’m finding it oddly effecting.

  • MilaXX

okay, I want that bracelet Fabio is wearing.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

    Hate those shoes.

  • Stubenville

The pairings look random to me.

  • MintaHallWriter

    dmitry…dmitry…dmitry

nope. about half are good; the rest are no so much…

better than Miss Chrissy, though…a lot

Fabio has some gorgeous stuff but still may not be expensive-looking enough for judges

  • ChristinaRi

Fabio wins the cutest boyfriend award.

    • Wellworn

They all have cute boyfriends.  Except Dmitri.  He doesn’t seem to have a boyfriend, or girlfriend, or family or money.  Poor guy.  He needs this win the most, then he will get a cute something out of it.

      • CarolinLA

Do we know if he straight or gay?

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Margaret-Carlson-Nikoleit/100002490979930 Margaret Carlson Nikoleit

My husband just asked me the same thing! I couldn’t recall any particular mention, but his “I forgot. I am a father now.” sounded a bit like he never expects to have children …

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

But I know plenty of straight men who would say the same.

  • dschubba

They used the best music for Melissa’s.

  • alula_auburn

Stephanie Meyer, how random!  But of course she loves Dmitry.  We won’t hold that against him.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

No, we won’t.  I still love my Comrade Snape.

  • Stubenville

    Anya STFU, you hack.

    • DinaSews

Hopefully the Anya seal of approval doesn’t carry any weight.

  • GenieinTX

Did Fabio completely remake his collection with $300 and two days?

  • Kimbolina

    Christopher – Meh
    Melissa – Boring
Dimitry – Horrible hair/makeup but overall not as tacky as it looked earlier
Fabio – Definitely most interesting, I think it’s my favorite

    • Stubenville

Agreed, I think Fabio’s looked best on the runway.

  • Maria Rosenfire

WTF why was Stephenie Meyer there?

    • Kimbolina

      Lifetime–>50 Shades of Grey–>Twilight–>Stephenie Meyer…?  I guess?

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Why would I give a shit what Stephanie Meyer thinks?  At least the normal celebs need to wear a lot of designer fashion, but she’s a writer!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I’ll hazard a guess that B-M and Lifetime figure Stephanie Meyer’s readership also watches Lifetime….gag.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I have read and enjoyed Stephanie Meyers — no the writing is not good, and no I do not care, they are cotton candy for your brain: empty, bad for you, and will make you sick if you have too much, but fun in its way.  But I have no interest at all in what she thinks of clothing.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I’ve never read anything by Stephanie Meyers, but I do enjoy some reading cotton candy. as you said, her opinions on clothing don’t interest me.  They could have used a clip of another fashion person instead.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I read The Host first, and then Twilight because I couldn’t bring myself to read it until I’d already enjoyed The Host — good concept, but the writing is sort of like the literary equivalent of a boy band.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I shouldn’t knock Stephanie Meyers-I’m addicted to the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, and as much as I enjoy them, Jane Austen they ain’t.

    • MilaXX

       a hack writer at that

  • CozyCat

    My dream judges’ vote:

    1.  Fabio (at least he came up with some new ideas in the limited time frame)
    2.  Dmitry (some very elegant looks, some ballroom dance costume looks)
    3.  Melissa:  wearable, chic, but clothes not fasion
    3.

  • OhSayNow

I hope Fabio wins. His was the only collection that didn’t make me want to weep with boredom.

  • Wellworn

Wow, I am loving Fabio’s collection.  Maybe it’s just the lightness compared to all the dark collections.  It’s definitely Fabio and Dmitri at the top.  I hope.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i love fabio and his looks.  i hope he wins.  and he has humility.  chrissypoo, take notes.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Is it just me or did Althea have a lot of work? she looks so different.

  • ChristinaRi

I think it’s between Melissa and Fabio.

    • Cindy Claussen

      Agree

  • BuffaloBarbara

Didn’t care much for Christopher’s collection.  I liked Melissa’s and Fabio’s (Fabio’s wouldn’t necessarily strike me immediately on the thought of it as great, but the more I watched it, the more beautiful it seemed). I like Dmitry, and I liked some of his pieces, but I didn’t like the collection as a whole.  I think I’d score it Fabio, Melissa, Dmitry, Chris.

  • JuliaInBlack

Okay, after seeing it in motion I think I’m now on Team Fabio.

  • NDC_IPCentral

Well, no one’s output riveted me, to say the least, and I don’t think I can recollect much beyond a few of Melissa’s in an immediate attempt at recall.

Melissa, though, looked quite lovely with her upswept hair and long dress.  She really brought a sophisticated look for herself as a presenter.

  • MilaXX

So Ciara’s look from earlier could have been saved with Dmitry’s fringe jacket?

  • alula_auburn

I still don’t get the love for the fringed jacket.  Sorry Dmitry!

  • dschubba

I didn’t really care for Dmitry’s final gown in pictures, but I liked it in motion.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well yeah!  In the pictures you couldn’t see the full impact of the sparkly fringe!

  • Pennymac

I thought Dimity’s looked stiff and ill fitted, amazingly enough. I think Fabio out shown Melissa, and I DID like Christopher’s pieces, even if his personality is grating as well.

  • Cindy Claussen

I love how Nina says “cool”

  • MilaXX

    JHud’s makeup is horrible.

    • Stubenville

The lipstick isn’t a good shade for her and screams at the green shade that she’s wearing.

      • MilaXX

Agreed and the foundation looks mismatched as well.

  • alula_auburn

Wow, no comment whatsoever on the eyebrows and gilded hair?

  • Cindy Claussen

Dmitry’s critique was weak on the judges part

  • MilaXX

It’s not reconstructed just because you copied it on to fabric.

  • Wellworn

It’s inspired by x-rays…I feel the BK eyerolls all over the world.

    • alula_auburn

I don’t really get how it’s so dark and haunting, either.

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Oh, judges…. the old, “We love EVERYBODY!!!” fakeout.  So tiresome.

    • Stubenville

Maybe it’s a four way tie! Not.

  • ChristinaRi

    Heidi’s boobies are too distracting.

    • emily mcginnis

they are barely above her waist. it is TIME to support the girls!

  • SnackBandit

So, the judge’s word of the season: “Cool.”

    • zelavie

I wish I had this on DVR so I could go back and count the number of times they said “cool”.

  • Stubenville

Heidi “I would wear that.” Who cares?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

“I would wear that” should be one of the drinking game cues, I think. and yes, who cares?

      • PastryGoddess

This is next season’s drinking game.  FOR REAL!!

    • alyce1213

At this point, Heidi saying “I would wear that” is an insult.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I love Fabio and I’m so happy Heidi finally got his stuff.

  • Wellworn

Do NOT interrupt and correct Ms. Hudson, especially when she’s complimenting you!

  • Kimbolina

Ugh, now we have to sit through all this BS, why should YOU win?

  • Stubenville

Designers, recite the Baltimore Catechism tell us why you want to win.

Uh -oh, someone told Christopher that he was in the Miss America pageant!

    –GothamTomato

    • bitchybitchybitchy

And if I win, I will devote myself to designing clothes that will bring world peace(then he dissolves into a puddle of tears as he waits for his tiara and sash).

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Can I steal this if the moment ever arrives for it?  ‘Cause I would love to say that on camera.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          I give it to you!

      • CozyCat

You have so earned your tag name with this comment that it almost should be retired.

        Bravo!

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          Shucks-I’m speechless!

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

    Icky….Christopher

  • dschubba

I can’t begin to imagine how much Heidi would have to tweak any of Fabio’s garments before she could wear them.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

first she’d have to cut them off at the crotch.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

As opposed to the rest of them?  Who are what?  Plumbers who want to go on vacation?

  • ChristinaRi

The answer to why should you win, isn’t really, “Because I want to.”

  • alula_auburn

God, I hate the “why should you win” portion, because the answers are so dumb.  WANTING it is not a reason you DESERVE it.

    • CozyCat

But I think Fabio came up with the best answer ever to this question.

      • alula_auburn

        Yup, well played, sir!

      • Wellworn

I really liked his answer too.  Probably the best answer since they started stupidly asking it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Dmitry and Fabio gave much better answers.

  • Wellworn

I’m sure someone else has said this, but Heidi, where is the front of your dress?  You’re going to catch cold in that.

    • Stubenville

She’s hoping to catch a husband.

      • 3boysful

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2052589 Merrie Davidson

How come Dimitry. the only non-native English speaker. is the only coherent and interesting one? (But I love Fabio’s personality.)

    • Wellworn

I think Fabio is also a English as a second language speaker, he said he grew up in Brazil and visited his mom in America.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

It’s hardly a compelling new print.  I have 100s of those same pictures.

  • Maria Rosenfire

Sounds like the Christopher-haters might have reason to rejoice…

    • ChristinaRi

I don’t hat Christopher at all.  I generally like him — not during this episode though.   I wish him well, but I didn’t like his collection.  It was a disappointment.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

As the judges said- Christopher made nice pieces, but it wasn’t a collection

  • dschubba

     I’m gonna guess:

    Winner: Christopher
    1st runner-up: Fabio
    2nd runner-up: Melissa
    3rd runner-up: Dmitry

Because the judges almost always do the opposite of what I want.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

If Chris wins, I am applying for this show with an entire portfolio of MRI prints…

    • bitchybitchybitchy

And the BK’s can assist you with developing a really poignant, camera-ready backstory!

    • Stubenville

Gallstone earrings to go with, perhaps?  =)

  • MilaXX

They needed Zoe Saldana as the finale judge, JHud brings nothing to the party.

    • zelavie

“Ooh, you’re so pretty!  You should be one of the models!” is not effective judging.

    • CarolinLA

She can really sing but she doesn’t come off as the sharpest knife in the drawer.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

         Or the cookie jar.

  • DinaSews

I will be so happy to never hear Christopher’s breathy ‘thank you’ again.

  • Kimbolina

YAY, sounds like it’s either Fabio or Dimitry.  I can live with that.

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

I can live with Fabiola winning, too.

    • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Love the iPad autocorrect for his name!

  • zelavie

Ohmygoodness – what is happening?  Are they..  are they basing the winner on DESIGN?

    I’m truly completely shocked.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I don’t like that — “Oh, Dmitry’s good enough to succeed by himself so we should help Fabio”  Seriously?!?  This is not a charity ball!  I’m fine with either of them getting the win, but that’s just a stupid criteria.

    • BobStPaul

It would be a stupid criterion for winning but she actually made a pretty astute statement.  I’d give it to Fabio for the design even though Dmitry’s become one of my all-time favorite contestants.

      • ChristinaRi

        Me too.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I can totally see giving it to him on merit.  That’s just a dumb reason.

    • alula_auburn

Agreed.  How frustrating would that be to learn after the fact, too?

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

And I’d be really pissed if I won on those grounds — it’s insulting.

    • http://www.facebook.com/candace.lindemann Candace Lindemann

I think it is legit to consider who will better utilize a platform/prize money when you have a tough choice but given the tough nature of the industry, I don’t think it is fair to say anyone would make it without a boost. I also think Dmitry will make better use of the prize as he is more ready. I think Fabio needs more time and a business plan…or at least a savvy business partner!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Absolutely.  If the argument had been “I think so-and-so is better poised to take advantage of the opportunity, I think he’s ready to launch a brand now and has the business experience to succeed”, I would have no problem.  But it was the opposite — “oh, he can do it on his own, while the other guy needs this to make it.”

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Fashion is such a tough business, and those who watch All on The Line have seen talented designers crash and burn because they don’t have the slightest concept of how to put together and run a business, so the idea that “oh, he can do it on his own” isn’t necessarily true.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Also, if they’re going to promote Tim live-tweeting, they should teach him to do it better.

  • notdorothygale

So incredibly bored, but still watching……

  • MilaXX

Imagine if Elena had made it to final 4 and gotten the judges feedback before her show. I think we would have seen a really great show from her.

    • Wellworn

I really liked her final collection (well from the pictures of it anyway) too.

  • notdorothygale

With everything else she’s had “done” I can’t believe Heidi’s boobs are undid.

  • guest2visits

I find myself rooting for Dimitry, even though I like the looks of Fabio’s - a tiny bit more. Fabio’s and Dmitry’s both showed alittle better
on the RW than the stills.  Christopher’s and Melissa’s not as well.

  • m0r0

FAbio winning is a joke. Guess I don’t get fashion at all because his collection (other than a few nice pieces i.e. the taupe top) was fugly.

  • dschubba

    Boom goes the dynamite

    THANK GOD Christopher doesn’t win!!!

  • Kimbolina

I know things were edited out and everything, but Melissa’s aufing was super awkward.

    • AthenaJ

I noticed that too. Christopher got a whole spiel and Melissa just gets a bye-bye… what gives??

    • bitchybitchybitchy

That was awkward-they could have thrown her a few compliments or words of encouragement.

  • notdorothygale

Yes, but Melissa, you could be a model! Jennifer said so.

  • Stubenville

Interesting – Now I’m happy whoever wins.

  • ChristinaRi

    Everything happens for a reason.

Of course it does.   Duh.  But not a cosmic one — sorry.

  • Zippypie

Since I’m at work and can’t see the show, thank the gods for the news Christopher gets the boot!

But can’t you record on your Hopper?  (No, I’m not the person who posts those ads camouflaged as comments by a Dish employee, just the one making fun of them)

Yep, Dmitri and Fabio in the top 2.

  • Stubenville

    My money is on Fabio.

I am so stunned.  I did not picture this;I really thought that Melissa or Christopher would win. I am so happy for Dmitry!!

  • dress_up_doll

    OMG!!! DMITRY WON!!!

  • watchmeboogie

Awww, 1-Way Monkey won! Yay Dmitry, I love you even though your side cut-outs will never not be tacky.

Fabio is such an awesome guy, I wish I liked his designs as much as his own clothing. Wish he wouldn’t cry. He could do a Kickstarter at this point and make a mint.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

I don’t think that his collection was very impressive- the general impression was resort wear- like Anya’s collection, but better constructed and in quieter fabrics. Nothing wrong with it but it gained a LOT by contrast with the other collections.

  • Maria Rosenfire

Well, this is all perfectly acceptable to me. Good job to all of them!

  • MilaXX

I discovered that Dmitry won early this morning. Apparently Lifetime posted the pictures of win early.

    • CozyCat

You are a real mensch for not spoiling the rest of us.

      • MilaXX

Not everyone is a spoiler ho like me. Beside with so little to please us this season, I couldn’t rob Dmitry fans of seeing his win .

        • formerlyAnon

You are a gem. This is the first (happy) surprise win I’ve had in many seasons.

        • Winter_White

Thank you, MilaXX.  :)  Am glad I missed that spoiler, because it was exciting to watch:  I loved both of those guys equally (two charming, attractive, talented men) … preferred Fabio’s final collection, but loved Dmitry’s work during the challenges.  Hope you enjoyed it too, even though you knew the outcome!

(And hope your kitties are well.)

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I wondered about it after I saw Tim interviewed and both the photos they used were of Dmitry’s work, for challenges he didn’t win.

    • Wellworn

Thanks MilaXX for not spoiling.  I usually don’t mind being spoiled, but I truly enjoyed seeing his win tonight.

  • Joe J

    Oh piss off, Christopher.

    • AthenaJ

His bitterness was rolling off the screen in waves. That boy needs to mature and grow up.

    • CarolinLA

Maybe I was wrong earlier when I said he would grow out of his douchiness.

  • dschubba

SadFabio is breaking my heart. :(

    • AthenaJ

Same here, he is taking it hard… with his adorable nervousness during the intro to his show, you can really tell he wears his heart on his sleeve. I just want to give him a big hug and tell him everything will be ok.

    • enonymous

I would’ve been happy with him or Dimitry getting the win. Fabio was just so sweet throughout the competition.

  • ChristinaRi

Oh, sweetie Fabio.   You should never be unhappy.  You are such a beautiful person.   I want to have a “Pay Fabio’s Bills” fund.

  • Stubenville

A winner who can sew SLEEVES!

    • Call me Bee

I know, right?  His skills are up there with Laura B.    Perfect tailoring.

  • Kimbolina

Awww, Fabio!  My heart is breaking for him!

Can’t complain too much about Dimitry winning though!

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I know… it makes me sad.  He’s so talented, and it would be so disappointing.

  • Zippypie

    That’s GREAT news!  Go Dmitry!

  • alula_auburn

OMG!  I’m totally surprised, for real.  But Fabio is making me sniffly.

And Christopher, of course, has to make it all about him.

    “You’re a real gentleman.”

  • http://twitter.com/lgrahamtx Lee Graham

Nothing like how the F}%$ comment form the winner!

  • Call me Bee

Well I’ll be dipped in sh*t and rolled in nuts and called O Henry!  Dimitry won and I am very happy!  I can’t remember the last time the designer for whom I was rooting actually won.  I think…never!

    • alula_auburn

I was thinking maybe not since Jay for me!

    • NDC_IPCentral

Bee, your exclamation has made my night.  I just chortled.  Thank you, O Henry.

    • dharmabum8

I havent rooted for the winner since the move to Lifetime…. Holy EFFING Team Charmeuse, people! That shocked me in a good way.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

         I rooted for Seth Aaron.

But I think I only had the winner picked for 3 seasons out of the 9 I saw at the first airing — S3, S4, and S7.

  • SouthernGirlRena

Woo Hoo Team Dmitry! So happy!
Oh no, Fabio is crying.  Now I’m broken-hearted.

  • SnackBandit

I love that Dmitry won, even though Fabio was really sad.  But it breaks my heart that Dmitry’s family isn’t there…

    • AthenaJ

I know, I’m hoping it was only financial reasons that kept them from coming to NY. Dmitry is such a good person.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I think it was.  There was a Belarusian poster at TWoP who said it is insanely expensive to come over from Belarus, so I’m sure that’s all it was.  But it still made me so sad for him.  Glad his chicks were there!

  • ChristinaRi

So sad that Dimtry’s family couldn’t be around him.

    • CarolinLA

They’re probably being held in a gulag by Elena’s family.

Oooh, what sour remarks from Christopher and Fabio as runners up.  “I demand a recount”?  Christopher, they axed you FIRST.

Fabio, sorry about your and your mother’s financial woes, but that is personal information you should keep to yourself.

WHOA, Tim getting weepy for Dimitry!

    • Frank_821

I really think the “recount” remark was for Fabio. He did say earlier he felt Fabio should win

I thought those sore losers were so classless.  Really.

  • Stubenville

First time I’ve seen Tim cry!

  • MilaXX

We don’t know Cat the model because the models are barely people as far as the show is concerned now.

  • AthenaJ

    Dmitry’s got a harem!! :)

I love him, but I feel so torn… sad for Fabio, happy for Dmitry!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

LOL!  A harem – love it!  If there’s one guy who would, it doesn’t surprise me that it’s Dmitry!

      • AthenaJ

I would definitely consent to being part of Comrade Snape’s harem. Where’s the sign-up sheet?

        • siriuslover

agreed. I don’t even hide my attraction from my husband. I’m just straight up, “oh my god, he is so sexy.” That soft-spoken manliness, oh man. and that accent! and his eyes!

        • bitchybitchybitchy

My Dmitry fantasy is that he designs a ballroom costume for me and then gives me private dance lessons.

    • alula_auburn

LOL, I kind of thought the same thing.  I can haz spin-off about Dmitry and his friends?

    • CozyCat

Which is the sign of a worthy ending.  The top two were both worthy, so no matter who we were rooting for, we will be sad for second place.  (I was rooting for Fabio, but I am not offended in the least by a Dmitry win.)

      • AthenaJ

Very good point, CozyCat. I have a feeling even though Fabio didn’t win, he represented himself and his POV very well during this show… I’ll bet he will land on his feet.

  • ScarlettHarlot

Damn, Dmitry rolls deep with his blonde mafia.

    • PaulaBerman

I thought the exact same thing, only you said it funnier.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i know, i was surprised the judges didn’t say anything about dimitry’s horrible makeup ideas.  oh well, i’m glad he won anyway.  but those eyebrows…Yikes!

  • CarolinLA

I fell asleep.  Hmmm – Dmitry.  OK.  On to the next season.

  • http://twitter.com/Miri81 Miriam Diaz

I thought for a second that the show was trolling us and Christopher was going to win. Congrats Dmitry! I am so happy for him. However, I felt so sad for Fabio. :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

And (Thank god) NO REUNION SHOW!!!

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

AAAAHHHHHH!HH!HHHHH!!!!!!!  HE DID IT!!  HE FUCKING WON THE WHOLE FUCKING SEASON!!!  Jesus!
Although, I am sad for him that those three ungracious losers were backstage shit talking him.  That sucked.  I hope Christopher especially has the good sense to be embarrassed when he saw that.

    • alula_auburn

Seriously, on all counts!  Wooo Dmitry.  Snark and elegance > whiny flouncing.

Show some goddamn class, other contestants.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

It just made me hate Christopher even more.  Fucking little punk, I’m glad he lost.  I’m glad he came in FOURTH.

    • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

Chris and Dmitry were snarking back and forth on Twitter before the win was announced…….Chris is coming off as VERY bitter.

      • dharmabum8

Really? Does Dmitry’s snark play as well without his accent?

        • formerlyAnon

          It could not possibly.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Looking for it now, and I love the comment from Ivy “apparently the winner of the first challenge always wins it all”… Um, no.  I think it’s only happened once, and that was Gretchen.

        • enonymous

Ivy is still a sour little fucking idiot.

          • alyce1213

Ivy may be my least favorite contestant of all time.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Wow, really?  I got the impression on Twitter that they were friendly.  But it doesn’t surprise me that Chris turned into a spoiled petulant child in the long run.

        • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

It wasn’t that much on Twitter – sorry if I made it sound worse! Not sure how serious it was, though. When Chris made the comment that he hoped Dmitry used all of the silver in the styling (I guess implying it would make him lose) Dmitry said “indeed I used it ALL” I guess a little bit of snark knowing that he got the win! Haha. And when Dmitry made a snarky comment about Chris on the show, the latter said something back on Twitter. I can’t tell if it is friendly/joking. After Christopher’s comments on the show, I’m not sure. He seems like such a little weasel.

    • l_c_ann

I’d like to be a fly on the wall tonight when Christopher realizes that Nina and Tim heard his entitled self -declaring that He deserved to be there, who do they think they are?

      • bitchybitchybitchy

No, Christopher, you were not the Chosen One….and Comrade Snape did not need to confound you with a charm. He relied on talent…ooooh, what a burn!

  • formerlyAnon

I’d have been happy with either Dmitry or Fabio. (and, really, I never thought for an instant that Fabio would win, he’s too unconventional). So I’m good. No disappointment.

Can’t BELIEVE I’m saying this about PR! Now if they’d just address the time constraints issues. . . .

    • AthenaJ

I liked both, too. Dmitry was my favorite, but I’ll be the first to admit Fabio had the more fashion-forward collection. It was just a bit too futuristic for the judges though, and I’m not sure if the style would flatter most body types.

  • Wellworn

Aw, seeing Tim cry made me lose it.  Wah!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

He’s so cute, I love Tim!

      • AthenaJ

Papa Gunn is such a sweetie

    • l_c_ann

Has Tim ever gotten misty eyed with a winner before?

  • alula_auburn

So, did they finally decide the “AFter the Runway” shows were terrible, awkward and pointless, or could they just not be bothered with this cast?  It was very jarring to go from lovely Dmitry to Dance Moms.  (shudder)

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I’m disappointed that there’s no reunion show at least!

    • ChristinaRi

      child abuse show.  ick.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

The onstage reunion shows were awkward but watchable. Last season’s scripted show was horrifyingly bad. Tim Gunn is a great guy with quips, but when he has to read from a memorized script he’s just terrible.

    • Winter_White

“It was very jarring to go from lovely Dmitry to Dance Moms.  (shudder)”  I just can’t bear to watch the upcoming All-Star season because, from casting decisions to promos, they seem to be crafting it to fit in really well with “Dance Moms.”

  • CarolinLA

I’ll bet Elena is so pissed…

    • Stubenville

She deserved to win based on her decoy collection.

  • CarolinLA

Oh man – my non-HDTV was doing super funky things with JHud’s lipstick.  It looked like those wax lips you get at Halloween.  I gotta upgrade.

    • ChristinaRi

It was bad in HDTV too.  :o

    • Winter_White

Seems we are living through an era of Bad Lipstick right now.  But this too shall pass.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i have a great tv, and her face looked pretty strange to me.  she seemed uncomfortable too, like she didn’t fit in, didn’t know what to say or how to act.

  • CarolinLA

No one mentioned Dmitry’s hideous styling with the unibrows and the Spock ears.  I thought styling was everything, Nina.

    • l_c_ann

I think the designs were so interesting that the models heads were just up there.

(Melissa’s simpler dresses didn’t have that much to look at so the combover fauxhawks got attention.  I’d like to know what else they said to her when they told her she hadn’t won.)

    • Jasmaree

Apparently giving all the models heavy unibrows and thick white goop in their ponytails makes them look young. Who knew?

  • Linderella

How many seasons has it been since they actually picked a winner who deserved to win?  I haven’t been this excited for a winner since my favorite PR designer Leanne.  Congrats Dmitry–a designer AND a gentleman!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

You said it!  This is amazing!

    • dharmabum8

Leanne was the last winner I was stoked about as well. Damn I adored her collection. I might adore Dmitry a tiny bit ore than his collection, but his white dress was my favorite piece in all the final collections so I’m good. Yay!

  • BobStPaul

I’m happy to be proven wrong in that I was sure they would give the win to Christopher.  However, I’m really surprised they responded so positively to Dmitry’s collection.  Overall, this season had a pretty good group of designers but it turned out to be a relatively lackluster season even so.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i think the season was boring because the challenges all sucked.  can’t think of one challenge that provoked any kind of creativity.  sad, because there were some really talented people this time, they just weren’t given an opportunity to show off their skills.

  • Jasmaree

I know everyone here love Dmitry and I don’t have anything against him, but honestly I felt like he didn’t deserve to win. I thought his collection was a decoy when I first saw it. Well at least Christopher didn’t win. He was a bitch today.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I felt the same.  I do love Dmitry and am glad he won on a season-wide level, but I just didn’t care for this collection all that much, while I found myself surprised into adoring pretty much everything Fabio sent down the runway.  I’d have been okay with Fabio, Dmitry, or Melissa, but that’s not the order I’d have picked based on the particular collections here.

Personally, I think that, along with the collections, they should all submit a business plan for what they’ll do with the prize money, and the audience should be privy to the actual plans.

    • snich11

      Agree–Too. Much. Black!

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

really.  i want to see a challenge where the designers are not allowed to use black.  also one where they have to use all prints.  maybe at least two different prints in one piece.  i’ve seen enough black to last a lifetime.  and remember that horrible lexus challenge?  make a dress the color of a sedan.  yuck.

  • bpayne

So, since there is no reunion show, when do they announce the fan favorite? (not that it really matters)

    • Kimbolina

A little blurb popped up at the bottom of the screen at the end saying Elena won.  I doubt they’re gonna do anything beyond that to announce.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

She must have pissed off the producers.

        • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

really.  ”chistopher, we think you’re really talented and wish you all the best.  melissa, get the fuck out of here.”

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I think it was just the little scroll thingy at the bottom of the screen with Elena’s picture.

    • Kate Millard

Mondo just tweeted that Elena won (and he snarkily asked HOW??!!)

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Haa hahaaa!  Oh, Mondo.  That’s almost enough to make me like you again!

        • enonymous

          yeah…almost :0/

        • SnackBandit

Oh, what happened with Mondo?  I know he used to be a fav around here…was there some sort of controversy?

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

He was a fave when he was the AIDS underdog, but he was a sour little pill in All-Stars. Very negative and unlikable. The fans also didn’t take too kindly to his status as the “Chosen One” whose win was way way obvious.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

He seemed rather sour (and picky) in his appearance this season.

      • CozyCat

She has the producers’ relatives tied up in a basement with an internet camera recording the removal of body parts.

(Actually, I was an Elena fan, so I’m glad she won some money.  But it makes no sense to me either.)

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

my theory is that lifetime’s viewers include a lot of girls in their twenties, and they’re the ones most likely to vote via the internet.  judging from my daughter’s friends, these girls love shows like “bad girls club” where the girls fight all the time, so they all liked elena because she was such a hellcat.  this is my theory, and i’m sticking with it.

  • dharmabum8

Dmitry is certainly the mst entertaining personality to win this show since Jay, and a decent designer to boot. That’ll do, judges. That’ll do.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

    Yawn.

  • PaulaBerman

Thrilled that the most talented and polished designer won FOR A CHANGE. Will say this about Dmitry: obviously Melissa, Christopher, and Fabio were a clique and Dmitry wasn’t in the club. The fact that he never made a big deal about it and just did his thing speaks volumes about his character, even when they are obviously so graceless as to snipe and whine publicly. Dmitry had no family for Tim’s visit or the runway show. This devotion to his craft is what motivates him (though I loved his blonde Slavic girl mafia.) I am glad he won– he will be a success.

    • BuffaloBarbara

Yeah, I noticed that, too–that catty comment from Christopher was the first thing all night that made me NOT want Fabio to win.  But the thing I’ve liked about Dmitry all season has been that he really seems to be in it for the craft.  He had ZERO storyline by producer standards, and yet he’s one of the most interesting people they have.  His inspiration was intellectual and not over-personal (Christopher), cliche (Melissa), or vague (Fabio).  I have a feeling that if they’d let him (or not edited out), he could have actually talked about how his inspiration fit into each piece, and what he was doing with it.

So, even though I liked Fabio’s collection better, I’m still a fangirl of Comrade Snape, and am glad he won it.

(I did feel bad that the show didn’t spring for bringing over at least some member of his family from Belarus, though.)

      • PaulaBerman

I was so surprised that the producers ALLOWED someone to win who had no storyline. Dmitry was so low key (except for his hilarious stand off with Elena), no family issues, no drama– just talent and a point of view. Maybe his win is a response to the criticism of the last few seasons, where they rewarded the most ridiculous behavior regardless of skill. I too wonder why no member of his family was able to come, and that made me sad. But Dmitry never exploited that, nor even really discussed it much. That’s a classy person.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I think Dmitry would be my favorite to sit down and talk fashion with — Fabio is a very thoughtful designer as well, but he’s a little more… out there… than I would like.  I tend to get along better with the sarcastic, deadpan type.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

With all the money that channel has, they could have at least brought over one of his parents!

        • CozyCat

There could have been visa issues.  It’s very time consuming to get even a tourist visa to come here from some countries.

          • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

and there may have been political problems as well, that is, maybe his family can’t leave the country.  or there may be health issues.  we just don’t know.

          • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Yeah, that’s all very true.  Still, I felt so bad.  Glad his girls were there with him!

      • Sweetbetty

Even though Dmitry revealed little backstory I wouldn’t be a bit
surprised if he had one that would make a fascinating book.  Born in a
communist country, a ballroom dancer since age 8 (I believe), coming to
America alone at age 18 with only a backpack and a few hundred dollars,
giving up his job (would love to know what that was)

to appear on Project runway, and probably other tidbits that we don’t know about, yet he never flaunted that or used it to try to gain sympathy like so many other contestants have.

I was always under the impression that the show did pay for family members to come to the final show since some of the past designers came from very humble backgrounds, but I guess that isn’t the case.  Or maybe the show offers a certain amount of travel expenses but it just wasn’t enough for Dmitry’s family.  Then again, maybe there’s some tragic story about why they couldn’t be there and that will be in the book that is written about him someday.  I wish him the greatest success and hope that he can bring his entire family to America if that’s what they all want; it’s certainly a more noble use of the prize money than the boob job Christopher was going to give to his mother.

And seeing Dmitry with those three blondes made me think of him as a young, sexy, foreign-accented Hugh Heffner with the three girls living with him in his mansion.  Makes me wish I was blonde, 30 years younger, and 50 pounds slimmer so I could step in when an opening occurred.

      • formerlyAnon

“he could have actually talked about how his inspiration fit into each piece, and what he was doing with it.”
EXACTLY what I want to see in some of those 90 minutes, producers. Not sniping amongst contestants, half of which is probably created by manipulative editing.

        • Winter_White

Yes.  This has always been my wish for the show!  (I had to fast forward through all those repulsive promos for the coming “All-Star” thing:  reality-show “villains” glaring at the camera and menacingly holding up scissors, etc.  They’ve finally made it easy for me to skip a season.)

          • Wellworn

Oh the promo for the All Stars is so typical drama filled BM wheelhouse.  Meant to be clever, but really what they strive for, conflict.

          • 3boysful

Maybe the villain thing is their lame attempt to overcome the “television for women” thing.

          • Winter_White

Are you just tryna cheer me up, 3boysful?  (Laughing/kidding.)

(There has always been a villain — at least one per season — but the upcoming thing is just too much for me.)

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

EVERYTHING you said!  Just 100% all of it!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Well said about Dmitry just dealing quietly with not being a member of any clique during this season, and using his time to design. It paid off for him in a big way.    Although I like Fabio and Melissa, I wish they hadn’t been so open with their sniping at Dmirtry. It diminishes them rather than him.

  • CarolinLA

I wish they would make a rule that your finale collection can only be 25% black and/or dark colors.

    • snich11

      YESSS!!

  • http://twitter.com/angelestrails Natasha

So excited for Dmitry!!! He’s a talented, driven, and good person. After a few off seasons, I feel like PR finally didn’t cheat us on these qualities. My heart goes out to sweet Fabio. Someone hire him! Chris finally showed his true colors. I’ve been waiting, and he didn’t disappoint. Yuck. Anyway, back to being HAPPY!!

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      YES!!!  Let’s celebrate!!!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

I’m glad Dmitry won. I think his collection contained the most showmanship. He accomplished a lot in five weeks. Good of MK to call him a gentleman because most of these kids– Josh prominent among them– want to be reality TV stars. Michael’s assessment & their choice to declare Dmitry the winner gives me a slight bit of hope (you don’t have to be a camera whore to progress in the competition and/or win as long you have the skill-set).

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I find it totally ironic and sad that Michael pointed out what a gentleman he is (which he is) while the other three were in the back trash talking him.

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i don’t remember fabio talking any trash.

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I’ll have to watch it again, like I always do, but it seemed (to me, and I could be wrong) that Fabio and Melissa were just feeding that negativity in the back that Christopher had going on.  Someone else mentioned this, and I agree – that it was clear Christopher, Melissa and Fabio were what was left of the little clique they had (with Sonjia), and that Dmitry was clearly not a part of their reindeer games.  Okay, fine, that never seemed to bother him.  But it just surprised me that when Christopher went all bittercakes last night, Fabio and Melissa seemed more than okay to just *consent* to his behavior, if that’s a good word, even if their behavior wasn’t as bad.  Which to me, it then becomes just as bad. You become just as bad when you just sit back and go, “Sigh… I know.” “Yeah…” while Christopher is acting like a little bitch. I know I”m being overly sensitive, but they could have behaved with some fucking class, and not just gone along with Christopher’s tantrum.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I don’t know how much the accumulated stress of the competition and finally showing at Fashion Week might have contributed to Fabio and Melissa feeding Chris’ drama, and how much the editing gremlins added in.  Behaving graciously when you’re on camera never, ever hurts.

    • AthenaJ

      I completely second this!

    • janierainie

I’m glad it was between Dimitry and Fabio. They were both gentlemen.

  • CarolinLA

I turned off the sound.  I thought the music was depressing for all the shows.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Dmitry’s music was actually kind of light and happy.

  • Introspective

Yay!!! So happy for dmitry. He deserved it. Fabio made me sniffly. But im still excited for comrade snape. First time in a while that PR offered me a true happy ending…

  • Thathoodwink

It’s not too late to do those Ology posts…………

    • Wellworn

I still want the Ologies, too.  Sniff…

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i miss them too.  i tried to do my own “ologies” by looking at each designers work on the lifetime site, but i seem to have trouble loading the images, it took forever.  i always have trouble on that site.  and of course, i missed  tlo’s wonderful bitchery and analysis.  i’m sad that you guys are moving away from project runway.

      • 3boysful

         Me, too.

  • BuffaloBarbara

I have to agree that this has been one of the better seasons in terms of talent, and I wish that the production schedule hadn’t screwed it up for some very talented designers, who could have done much more memorable stuff if they hadn’t been rushed.  But I want to give them an encouraging atta-producers  arm-bump in terms of their casting, and their apparent willingness to give someone the win without regard to his storyline.  Keep it up–more designers who aren’t insane and can carry on a conversation without crazed threats, more respect for craft and problem-solving.  I don’t want the complaints about it to come off as, “Jeez, you can’t please these people.”  I’m pleased.  I’d just like to be even more pleased, you know?  So, pretty please, give them longer to work on their collections.

    • Judy_S

As someone noted, Dmitri was the most *entertaining* of the designers. He has charm  to spare–a combination of critical intelligence and critical distance, so that one never felt his analyses of others were merely bitchy. He was not dramatic at all, but he he was very watchable anyway. Perhaps it’s the ballroom-dancing background, that he knows what an audience is, and what it means to be judged, so that he can remain graceful in every way under the worst pressure?

So he’s an unusual contestant, and maybe the the company liked him because he offered a variety of good soundbites and visual bites, too. I think in the early seasons, when the stakes were lower and “storylines” were less important, there was more of this kind of coolness. Everybody wasn’t all desperate with self-promotion and self-dramatization. It was more about making clothes, but it was also more about having fun.

That said, though Fabio’s collection did look exquisite in motion (and made me want to touch those fabrics!), I thought Dmitri was a good choice from the design point of view. I would rather have seen the clothes without the hideous “youthful styling” but it was a wonderful collection.

  • NCDFan

Anybody else surprised at how much better the collections looked in motion? I actually agreed with the judges about the top two and was happy that they actually chose Dmitry. (Considering how Anya was gushing about Fabio’s collection)

    • AthenaJ

I noticed that too… was much more impressed seeing everything on TV than the still pics.

    • dharmabum8

Oh absolutely agree that the stills did not do the top two collections justice.

    • Wellworn

I noticed that about Anya too.  It is kind of in the Anya flowy style, but there was much more construction and concept.  Sorta wish we didn’t know she liked it, heh.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Maybe we can give Anya a couple of points for recogizing someone with talent, eh?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I was more impressed with the collections once I saw them in motion, too.

  • dschubba

Super late, but I just wanted to say that participating in these T-Lounge posts (along with T-Lo’s and John Teti’s recaps) have become the high point of my PR viewing.

    • AthenaJ

      I feel the same way!

  • Sweetbetty

The three blond female friends who hugged him after he won were kinda cute.  Hes sexual preference is still an unknown as far as I know, though.

    • AthenaJ

      I admit I’m curious about that myself…

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WKSM57KFWUGRMKPDUW4SPL3GDM Kathryn

He made a comment once about Heidi being hot, so I think he’s straight.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

I’m pretty sure he’s straight. He seems to have more of an affinity to women: to Melissa, to his female friends. He kisses them cheek-and-lip. When I first saw him, he reminded me of Logan: pretty-boy kind of guy. Unlike Logan, he didn’t feel the need to parade his being straight. He *may* have been the only straight guy this season, although Ven struck me as being straight also.

    • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

I think I read somewhere he is straight. Not sure if that was confirmed, though.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Hmmm…. do tell!

    • kismet026

My gaydar is totally set on straight. His enjoyment of Heidi dancing with the Rockettes kind of affirmed my suspicions. Though, counterargument – Dmitry is so deadpan, it’s entirely possible he’s messing with us.

  • CarolinLA

Dmitry is now poised to become a Bond villain.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

with his squadron of evil blonde assassins.

  • enonymous

I would’ve been happy with Fabio or Dimitry, but I screamed like a schoolgirl when they announced Dimitry as the winner.

Take that Rocky! Revenge for Drago!

  • Kit_W

go to his twitter pic feed here and maybe you’ll get some clues. There’s only like, 7 pictures in the whole feed.
    https://twitter.com/i/#!/DmitrySholokhov/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2F1HkkkZr8

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

*sigh* I pulled for Fabio until the end, and he didn’t win with that gorgeous collection. He was a gentleman the whole way through, I’m happy to say.

That said, Dmitry’s win has restored my faith in PR. Thank you producers for awarding the two professional, creative designers with first and second place.

Season 11 might not actually be that bad!

    • BuffaloBarbara

two professional, creative designers with first and second place.

Amen!  Actually, three out of the four (adding Melissa) were quite good, and Chris wasn’t bad.  Ultimately, the collections were different enough from each other that it had to come down to taste–and the judges even seemed ambivalent about which one was to their tastes.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Yes, they’re all talented. But I was proud of the producers for not putting the most dramatic personalities in the top two.

Melissa’s dramatic moments of quickquickhurryhurrycrycrysobsob are understandable, of course. She’s the rookie seamstress. Christopher on the other hand was a monkey dancing for the cameras.

        • Wellworn

All season Christopher’s strategies of playing the game were very visible to me.  He was always thinking about what the judges would want, which is good but I think I didn’t see his aesthetic, but he was also creating drama for the cameras, which wasn’t so good.  I think he saw this as a game, and I am pretty sure he’s a nice guy, but he is young and needs time to mature and find his own vision, not the BM reality show vision.

          • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

yeah, i’ve been on chrissy’s case all season, especially last week and tonight, for acting like an entitled ungrateful fool.  but then i remembered what an ass i was when i was his age.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

As annoying as Christopher was in fairness to him I think that part of that is his youth. He’s still got some maturing ahead of him.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PBGUD7Y6KYRNL7PCKYNPD2UGSM Carol

Just checking in to see who won.  I watched the documentary on Ethel Kennedy on HBO instead of the finale.  I am so glad that Dmitry won!  I’ve been pulling for him ever since I saw his audition pieces.

Any dog lovers among the Bitter Kittens, my little shih tzu, Chloe, could use some positive vibes right now.  I think I stepped on her paw this afternoon.  She seems to be settled right now, but she did have pain in her right front paw and leg earlier.  I’ll take her into the vet if she’s not OK in the morning. Well, I’ll take her in anyway to get it checked out regardless.

    • Qitkat

Aww, I hope she’s OK. Shih Tzu’s are sweet and love their people, I have two in-laws with 3 of them (total).

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Aww!  I hope your baby Chloe will be okay!

    • 3boysful

Hope she’s ok.  Let us know.

    • MilaXX

       hope she’s okay

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Sending healing vibes to your Chloe-I hope all will be well with her.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PBGUD7Y6KYRNL7PCKYNPD2UGSM Carol

Thanks for all the good thoughts!  I’m sure they helped.  Last night about 3, Chloe got up from the one of the dog beds and put her paws up because she wanted to sleep with me.  She stayed in one place for a while, but then started to move around a bit.  She happily went out this morning to do her business and then went right back to bed. Chloe shows absolutely no signs of pain which she did last night.

I inherited Chloe from my mom. She is a real sweetheart.  No wonder my mom loved her so much.

      • alyce1213

I’ve always been a dog person. Glad to hear Chloe is fine. The little ones do get underfoot, don’t they?

  • kismet026

I know Dmitry is pretty popular around these parts, so I’m glad that all of you who are fans of his are happy with the result. In my opinion, his wasn’t the strongest of the collections among the finalists and I wouldn’t have picked him for the win, but I can live with it. Being slightly disappointed but accepting that the winner is still a talented designer is a pretty huge step up from how I felt after last season’s finale, after all.

    • siriuslover

Dmitry was my pick for the win and I have been rooting for him for a long while (even when I called him Comrade Snape), but I would have been OK with a Fabio win.

  • l_c_ann

Somewhere, on the streets of NYC, the kids who were interviewed last year and who were ecstatic about the girl who couldn’t sew winning Project Runway,  they are crying in their sleeveless caftans and  searching for another reality TV series for their 15 minutes.

  • guest2visits

I don’t have the hates for Christopher; yes he’s a little too limply bitchy at times, but mostly he’s been plugging along and getting it
partially right, week after week. I liked the x-ray print idea, but I don’t think his collection was that interesting, or even that attractive.
It felt flat, and the leather pieces were not at all inspiring to me – the only thing that felt fluid was the dress made up of the print.
I have to agree with MK’s assertion that Christopher’s real talent has to do with creating pretty mainstream clothing; which I can find
no wrong with.  Although it really felt like MK made that decision a long time ago.
Melissa’s also showed worse on the RW; except for the red dress.  I thought I saw fit issues on a few of her pieces (like Christophers),
like the white dress (why no kick pleat or slit?) and though the collection was more fluid, it was not particularly creative either.
And I don’t get the love for the leather work in her collection or in Chris’s.
Fabio’s collection felt cool and chic; but not overly developed or structured. The look was light and fluid, feminine and … gentle?
Some of it was too beachy for me (verging on caftan- choke); but I loved the white drape dress (last minute design?), and the soft,
pretty tunic over pants look.  Also loved the highly stylized desert boots that he used to compliment the floaty fabric.
I wish I liked Dimitry’s collection as much as I liked him.  Dimitry had the best construction and the most adept skills of all this seasons’ designer and he accomplished much more in the time span they were given… but I didn’t like his collection.
Once upon a time, we inherited a box of beautiful, heavy, and expensive antiqued cut glass crystal. I couldn’t believe the
quality and the artisanship of the glass. At a second glance, I saw that every single piece was fractured. There was a deep shatter-
line running like white lightening through all the pieces; and they were unuseable.  I have to say that is the same disappointment
I felt when I first saw Dimitry’s RW collection. His work throughout the season felt so beautiful and elegant, I thought his RW looks
were very discordant, and oddly proportioned, oddly styled, and mostly unappealing. The silver dress and the geometric-floating
segments dress were both interesting and pretty; but everything else looked like box of beautiful broken glass. I think this was the
least fluid of any of the finalists, except of course the b/w theme.   Busy and overly designed.
Still; I am glad he won; his talent, his creativity, and his work in all the challenges shows what he is capable of doing.
Congratulations and best of luck to our seriously funny Dimitry!

guest2visits, I love this comment.  Thank you!

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Oh my god.  I’m with Winter_White.  What you said is amazing.  It created the exact picture in my mind.  You went inside my head.  How did you get in there?

      • guest2visits

Well, thanks… I think maybe I drifted too far afield from the subject of Dimitry’s collection; being as I was all
whistful for the collection he should have, could have brought to the finale. But I imagine what all those different
design elements that he crowded onto these looks would have been like with the proper amount of time to do them
justice – and that wasn’t his fault at all.   We were deprived of a really great RW collection by the show itself.

  • nannypoo

Well, that was a surprise. All season I expected the judge’s pet to win, and instead they actually picked someone with talent. I’m very happy for Dmitry, and really sad for Fabio. I wish they both could have won.

    • Wellworn

I do too.  I have been a Dmitri fan all season, for his designs but also his dry humor and who wouldn’t love a ballroom dancer turned designer far from his homeland, and apparently homeless and penniless with a gorgeous blonde support system, LOL.  But I was surprised at how much I loved Fabio’s collection.  The lightness and color, and easy flowy pieces that I would actually wear.  A strong runner up, I wish they had both won as well.  Very different but both good.  The other two were disappointing to me, very standard.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      I’m thrilled for Dmitry!

And I think it shows a kinder nature than I must have that everyone’s so sad for Fabio – I know I’m being a bitch, I’m not sad for him one bit.  On the fashion side, his collection looked like a bunch of draped bedsheets, and I just have never gotten his asthetic.  On the personality side, he did no favors for himself in my book with that boo-hooing about his mom’s bills, and then trash-talking Dmitry back in the workroom with his little clique of Melissa and Christopher.  I don’t feel one bit sorry for the other three with that behavior – it’s still sticking in my craw this morning.   Poor Dmitry didn’t even have any of his family there for him, and those three had to behave in such an immature and ungracious manner.

(None of that’s directed specifically at your post, Nannypoo!  I’m still just venty this morning!)

      • Sweetbetty

I’ve seen several references to the other three designers trash talking Dmitry in the workroom but even after watching the show twice I saw only Chris make his “recount” comment and nothing from the other two.  Someone fill me in, please.

      • nannypoo

Wow, no need to apologize to me. In the rough and tumble world of fashion bitchery you have to develop a thick skin.

Wouldn’t be so quick to denounce Fabio or Melissa.

I didn’t feel like he joined in the “Dmitry-hate” party that Christopher (that CUNT) started. Neither did Melissa. They both kinda kept their mouths shut while Christopher mouthed off because they’re understandably upset. And honestly, Dmitry and Fabio and Melissa all say that they’re really close I don’t think there’s bad blood there. Christopher’s just a bitch.

The “bills” part I thought was understandable. Fabio was THIIIIS close to winning over Dmitry, who might’ve ALSO brought up his money situation too if he’d lost, since he’s also going through some hard times. It kinda broke my heart that both Fabio and Dmitry have almost nothing in their bank accounts, but only one could take the prize. (Besides, Fabio’s very real. His boo-hooing was genuine sadness, as opposed to everything and anything Christopher has ever done.)

The fashion part is polarizing. The feeling in the tents was that Fabio was the winner because the conceptual, thoughtful nature of the collection is appealing to designers and editors. On the other hand, it doesn’t have much mass appeal, unlike Dmitry’s polished department store looks. Lifetime viewers were either enraptured or confused by Fabio.

    • mhleta

I wish they had a runner up prize like they do for some of the other shows. Second place should have a nice cash prize, too.

  • Rand Ortega

Aw! Dmitry was the clear winner, but I was rooting for Fabio because his work is so out- of- the- box- ethereal -interesting.

  • Sweetbetty

I’m re-watching the show at 1:30 AM and Dmitry has just commented on the runway being the longest one he’s ever seen but to me the runway just looks like a length of white plastic held down with duct tape.  Is that what  they do for Fashion Week at Lincoln Center?  It seems they could come up with something a little less tacky.

  • unbornfawn

Loved Tim getting teary eyed over Dmitry’s win!

  • siriuslover

I will probably write this tomorrow as well, but am so excited about the win I wanted to share it now. When I saw the stills of Dmitry’s collection, I critiqued some of the styling. Specifically, the eyebrows looked so heavy, like that wool that one guy put on his gal’s eyes last season.  But watching the makeup being applied this evening and seeing it “move” along with the clothes, it worked. It really did.
I am very happy for him.

    • Melvis Velour

I was thinking the exact same thing – when you took his entire styling aesthetic and watched it move along with the clothes, it was breathtaking.  I knew he’d won it when Nina was just glowing with that smile on her face.  Also didn’t hurt that Joanna Coles was dead serious about ripping the clothes off each model and running off with them.  Tim crying for joy at the end was a nice touch, haven’t seen that in a very long time…

It was interesting how the president of L&T was hoping Christopher would win.  Come on woman, your clients don’t wear that look!  We don’t call it Bored Tailoring for nothing…

      • AthenaJ

Didn’t Christopher win the L&T challenge to make the 10th dress in their Project Runway collection? I have a feeling that’s why she was trying to promote him.

        • 3boysful

           Good catch.

  • EverybodysStarling

Haven’t watched it yet, but spoiled myself. Dmitry! Yay! Never in a million years I would have expect that, but I’m so happy for him. Literally just made a little dance in my kitchen as I read it :D

  • http://twitter.com/jamiehoovs JLH

So I’ve been gobbling these forums up for awhile and wanted to add my two cents. I really apologize for how lengthy this is but I don’t get a chance to discuss this with people a lot so I hope you all don’t mind too much!

Christopher’s collection was just okay. I didn’t really enjoy his go-to print (or how he had it constantly draped around him to describe it at a moment’s notice), so the pieces he did with it weren’t really to my liking. His final gown was pretty but definitely nothing new. I did, however, enjoy all of the jackets/outwear with sleeves he produced. I wish he could have found one sort of style and gone with it because aside from using the same print, I thought his collection was all over the place. Furthermore, I have felt for a long time that many people across forums (I usually read this and TWoP, but have seen comments in a few other places) have been very hard on him this season, but tonight I was totally turned off by his behavior. I can understand being stressed and exhausted, but he was totally classless by the time 1 1/2 hours was approaching.

Melissa’s collection was cohesive, and I adored her two jackets. That being said, I felt underwhelmed by the rest of it. When I keep looking at stills, I grow to appreciate the thought and work that went into the collection. It simply just falls middle of the road for me in terms of everyone else who showed. I enjoy that she has a point of view and that she designs for herself, because I think there’s a market out there for it. I just don’t think her collection was the best of the final four. I was very pleasantly surprised by Fabio’s collection because I never got a great sense of what his vision was when it came to his designs. I agreed with the judges in a sense that he needed to put his own style into his designs; not literally, but more of a “We see that you have this interesting aesthetic in how you dress yourself and your designs need to reflect that quirk.” The two ivory dresses he sent down the runway were GORGEOUS, and I keep going back to the stills and coveting them. I like that I felt confused and like some of his collection was ugly; I think that’s what a good designer does to you. That being said, I really just did not enjoy some of the pieces and couldn’t even like them from a “You might not like it, but it’s fashion” standpoint. I think where he really lost it to Dmitry was the use of the watercolors on the dresses. They did not translate well to me at all and I felt that they really detracted from his overall collection.I loved Dmitry’s collection from the stills and loved it even more when I saw it in motion tonight. I’m constantly in awe of his tailoring and the amount of work he puts into his clothing, and that’s why the stills made me enjoy the collection. When I saw it on TV tonight, I liked the sheen of different fabrics, the glitter in the fringe of his dresses, the geometric fringe dress, and his cut-out pieces. The one thing I did NOT like was the black dress on his main model, Cat. However, a quick chop of that sleeve up to the off-the-shoulder gathering would solve my issues with it.

I’m pretty young and uncultured when it comes to the fashion industry and I do my best to make sense of it by reading magazines, blogs, looking up designers, and by watching shows like this (my first season was Season 3, although I’ve made the point to go back and watch the first two). One of the things I’ve come to love and expect from PR shows, and the thing that helps me really wrap my brain around fashion is the fact that people send out some items that I look at and at first I’m like “Jesus Christ, what IS that, what is going ON?” and as I look at it, everything falls into place or falls apart. I wish I could attend them firsthand and really see what it all looks like, which is why I really like to read about the final runway shows here because Tom and Lorenzo get to see them. Where I disagree, I guess, is that some of Dmitry’s was tacky. I really just thought everything came into place; with all of the designer’s collections (with the exception of some of Fabio’s) being more commercial than normal, the little details in Dmitry’s really brought it together for me. While I know people will disagree with me, the eyebrows didn’t bother me at ALL on the show and only bothered me slightly in the stills. They’re one of those it’s-so-ugly-but-it’s-fashion, so-couture-but-hideous elements for me, and that’s the same reason I didn’t mind the lipstick on Elena’s models.

So yeah, again, I’m sorry this is so long. I enjoyed this finale while agreeing that the overall quality in the shows have gone down and I cross my fingers along with the rest of you that the show gets a kick in the ass and starts going back to the basics of what made it so great. I would have been happy with either Fabio or Dmitry winning, and some part of me wishes that Fabio did if only because what he did was so different from the other three, and hell, because I really enjoy him as a person. That being said, I really enjoy Dmitry as a person and I am really drawn to how impeccable and cohesive his collection looked, and am happy he got the win. I look forward to reading what you all have to say when All-Stars begins; I’ll probably lurk again until the finale!

    • EverybodysStarling

Don’t apologize for writing this long, because every word was beautiful :)

      • http://twitter.com/jamiehoovs JLH

Just got around to seeing this and appreciate it greatly. I sometimes live in fear of clicking the post button.

    • mhleta

I agree 100% about Christopher. I haven’t understood why people loathed him so much all season, but last night I wanted to go Jessie Pinkman on his ass. “Shut UP, bitch, and just DO IT or I’ll bust a cap in your WHINY BITCH ASS!”

  • ZnSD

I’m personally glad that Dmitry won. I called him in week one when he did that gumball fringe thing. (Was that week one?) Anyway. I love Fabio (in fact, I seriously want to meet him and be his friend, he’s just so fucking fabulous!) but he needs to continue to work. I suggest he work on clean lines and structure to balance all of that unmade bed going on. In other news: How the FUCK did Elena win Fan Favorite? PLEASE. Someone explain this to me, in detail, like you were speaking to a developmentally-challenged infant. BECAUSE I DON’T GET IT. She was HORRIBLE. She was a SHREW. If anyone, FABIO should have won Fan Favorite. He was always a sweetheart! I’m baffled. (Is it wrong that I care more about this than about who actually won? It was *that* kind of season.) Love to all the unborn fawns. I’m on the west coast and I’m late, y’all went to bed hours ago. Kisses anyway. Tom and Lorenzo need to have a giant PR party in a hotel in The City for all the fa(w)ns. We’d buy tickets to watch the live finale, wouldn’t we? Hmm. Just a thought. (Get over it TLO, y’all are celebs!) ;)

    • mhleta

I actually went to votefortheworst.com to see if they crapped up that contest, but apparently they don’t care. Elena did grow on me as the season went on. Ironically, I liked her the most in the baby challenge, which was also her last. But I agree about Fabio. I want to watch movies with him in bed and paint each other’s nails. Sweet sweet man.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

She won fan favorite because she very early on established that she would donate her money to the WWF. She’s actually quite the granola girl.

That being said, team challenges aren’t necessarily an indication of someone’s real personality.

Emmy challenge, according to Laura Bennet, was edited to make Elena look less sympathetic. Buffi was actually working quite slowly. Elena short-circuited and took a smoke break to calm her nerves, but the psycho soundtrack made her look bad.

Marie Claire Challenge. Yes, Elena freaked the fuck out, but all of her criticisms were actually on-point. She just said them rather harshly in order to corral her unruly team (remember Raul’s bitchy fits?). And her “DON’T FUCKING TALK TO ME LIKE THAT” to Melissa was edited in Melissa’s favor, but Melissa was clearly being somewhat confrontational (understandably so, but still).

Fall outerwear challenge. Dmitry and Elena are both at fault here for going at each other’s throats immediately. In fact, Dmitry started it.

So overall, Elena’s a better person than the editing might make her. She had a sense of humor, and was surprisingly giggly at times. She was well-liked by all but Dmitry (until they made up) and Christopher (who was just a raging bitch). She’s even friends with Raul now! A “Wendy Pepper” Disney villain she is not.

      • ZnSD

thanks. I should know better than to believe the editing! I appreciate the sweet response to my nasty vitriol! LOL. I’m sure she’s an ok lady; but man, they did edit her to be a shrew. It made her appear deranged at times, and it pushed my buttons apparently. I do think that it’s a nice gesture for her to donate the money to WWF. I do think it takes away though from what “fan favorite” is supposed to mean: a cross between Miss Congeniality combined with pretty good design set…at least that’s been my take. And I didn’t get that from her. I have a feeling that part of the reason she did promise to donate some money to charity was because she felt bad for some of her behavior, but that’s just an opinion, and we know what those are worth. Cheers to you Victor – Z

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

I would be inclined to believe she really does like animals, though. Even her earliest tweets are like “Tigers should be treated just like people!!!!” or like “I don’t understand why some people want to kill our furry friends!!!” It’s actually pretty endearing.

    • kismet026

I think you may have an inaccurate image of Elena. Editing is largely to blame, but so is personal taste. As a fan of Elena (she was the only designer I really liked this season), my fondness for her had nothing to do with drama. On the contrary, when she did start drama with the other designers – like in the team challenge – I didn’t like her some of her actions. But she was very endearing to a lot of people. I think the editing was supposed to make her a villain, not a favorite, but some people enjoyed her earnestness and her humor. My personal favorite moment of the season is her talking head with her baby: “Her name is asshole…here she is!”

I think the use of the words “shrew” and “horrible”, in all caps, no less, is offensive to Elena and her supporters. She is a very talented designer, and despite the editing, it was abundantly clear that Elena is a good, strong woman who does not deserve such insults. She clearly connected with the other designers (just look at her reaction to Gunnar’s fake elimination and real elimination), and was great with clients (her behavior with her “real world” client was among the best). She may have been dramatic at times due to stress (and of course, we saw every moment of that), but what we saw after her mother’s visit was likely most accurately Elena in the real world. She stopped being so severe, and just had fun, and was a complete joy to watch, in my opinion.

Also, she may have picked up fans with her designs – while not always great, they always separated themselves from the other contestants, often in a positive way. The designs this season were so often bland, but Elena brought something different. And look no further than her decoy collection for a reason to support her – it was awesome!

      • ZnSD

I actually replied to someone already – you can read my thoughts there. Sorry if you were offended; it wasn’t my intent to offend, and I should have re-thought before publishing the comment. Editing got the best of me, and it really pushed my buttons, especially the screaming. I agree I absolutely softened during the real-world client challenge. I do however, think that she…may have let the stress get to her well before it started to show in some of the other contestants, and that helped color how she might be perceived. I liked some of her designs; she was ok. I do think that offering to give 1/2 the prize money to a charity is a bit manipulative, and doesn’t at all indicate who might’ve won. I don’t particularly consider that to be fair competition. Cheers-

  • hape_dex

I really didn’t care about this finale, haven’t even watched it yet. I didn’t dislike anyone but I didn’t have a favorite either, all of them made some nice clothes and some not so nice clothes but nothing stood out. Season 3 was the first I watched live without being spoiled and I remember how excited I was for the finale, I loved Uli and Laura, to this day I think of Uli’s and Laura’s dresses when I see something that reminds me of them, they had a distinctive style.

What annoys me the most abot the current seasons are the one day challenges. Two day challenges should be the norm with a one day challenge to make it extra hard one or two times and a three or even four day challenge if they want something resembling avant garde or haute couture.

    • zelavie

Not to mention that the contestants used to get 3 months, not 5 weeks, to produce their finale collections.  And it really shows.

  • MoHub

Would someone please tell Michael Kors that dissemble means “to lie.” The word he wants is disassemble when referring to using the pieces of an ensemble separately. And Kors has been misusing the word since the Bravo days.

Or, in other words: “You keep using that word. i do not think that word means what you think it means.”

    • mhleta

      Or “deconstruct”?

      • MoHub

Not really. Connotatively, I’d say deconstruct involves taking something apart that physically joined together; disassemble could mean separating discrete items that have been placed together but not physically attached.

        • 3boysful

Love that I’m not the only word girl around.  I nearly have seizures when people pronounce nuclear as nucular.
