Taylor Swift for ELLE Canada

Posted on October 30, 2012

Taylor is on the cover of ELLE Canada looking lovely, if a little Taylor-ish:

Taylor Swift covers the December 2012 issue of ELLE Canada magazine photographed by Andrew Macpherson in a Zuhair Murad dress.

Zuhair Murad Sequined Fishtail Dress

It’s princess-y, but it’s got a little dazzle to it at least.

Don’t even get us started on that cover quote. That is pathetic.

      This is an “Of Course”

      • http://smalldog.wordpress.com/ C.

We need more “Of Courses” for more celebs who are determined to be predictable.

      • JDreesen

“What else is there other than of course?”

    • Warrior89

I feel as though her bosoms are not accurately represented here.

      • oohsparkley!

Did she buy some or is it photoshop?

        • NC_Meg

Photoshop, me thinks. She’s been out and about lately and her chest did not look like that.

          • Le_Sigh

I think they’re new-ish – there’s been some speculation lately.  Maybe its also the way she’s angled?

            Either way – of course.

        • formerlyAnon

Well, there are undergarments that augment both bust and bum. I suspect those.

      • EMarrenner

         Jessica Rabbit bosoms!

      • kimmeister

That was my first observation – “since when is Taylor Swift so busty?”

        • http://promiscuouslola.com/ Cate

She’s NOT! Weirdly enough I was just noticing yesterday how incredibly flat she is. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

      • turtleemily

I was going to say Girl, That Is Not Your Cleavage.

        • kschwarting

I also think Girl, that is not your bum.  She’s nowhere near that curvy.

          • turtleemily

If she’s standing with her hip cocked toward the camera at an angle it could make her look curvier, but it looks like she’s just standing there.

    • gsk241

Admittedly, I’m not the demographic at which her music is aimed, but I just don’t get the appeal.  She looks so… bland.

      • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

She is twee untoasted Wonder Bread with a spoonful of sugar on it.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

          Yup. Do Not Get.

    • lalahartma

I thought she looked a bit Claudia Schiffer

      • schadenfreudelicious

she certainly appears to have borrowed Claudia’s bosoms….

    • Pants_are_a_must

Oh yuck. Even Barbies are not that twee.

    • oatmealpie

It’s surprising to see the cover of a fashion magazine without all the teasers and quotes. No promises of “this season’s hottest pants” or “5 surprising uses for lip gloss.”

      • Anathema_Device

It looks like a holiday catalog for that very reason. l

      • Ceur

I’d take that stupid quote over ‘How to please your man’ and ‘Lose 10 pounds in 10 days’ ANY day.

        • Laylalola

How is her quote any different? She’s shoveling the same “what else is there but a man” shit.

          • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

See, I like the quote, but I viewed it as more than just romantic love. There are many types of love – love for your family, your friends, that hobby of yours you’ve picked up, that show from childhood that brings back all the nostalgia, that first boyfriend of yours that you always wonder what happened to him after high school. What else is there really in life, but love? Ideally, we are surrounded by different types of love each day. As the Beatles said, “love is all you need.”

But knowing Swift, she probably just meant her boyfriend.

      • decormaven

But what else IS there but love? And chocolate, and pixie dust, and magical unicorns, and sprinkles? What, indeed!

    • MissMariRose

“What else is there other than love?”

Somebody help me! I can’t stop rolling my eyes.

      • Ann Erickson

My mom used to say they’d get stuck like that…

        • DeborahJozayt

If it keeps ya from having to read this tripe, I’m all for it.

    • Sobaika

Oh good GRIEF. That quote is terrible.

On a side note, I’m in NY and we finally have a semblance of power, and after getting all the work and emails and things sorted, TLo was my first stop. Hope you’re all doing well.

      • MilaXX

glad you all sorted and okay

    • crash1212

Pretty dress…where’d she get the boobs?

      • Laylalola

        Living another fantasy.

    • Tamara Hogan

I call Photoshop shenanigans on the boobage.

    • anotherkate

“What else is there other than love?” Fulfillment. Justice. Hard work. Courage. Compassion. Faith. Creativity. Growth. Understanding.

      I could go on.

      • turtleemily

        Finding-value-in-yourself-without-basing-it-on-a-guy.

Would have needed a smaller font for that one, though.

      • http://twitter.com/FuLinlin FuLinlin

Well, it depends how she meant love, but her being Taylor Swift I think she meant it as “being in love” and then I would say: Family. Friends. Pets. Work. Hobbies. Passions.

        • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Yeah, I absolutely interpreted hers as the “happily ever after” kind of love, not the love of family and good friends.

        • DeborahJozayt

I kinda wish she would go the Beyonce/Destiny’s child and be fierce and independent instead of pushing all teenage girls’ insecurity buttons.

          • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

I think she’s more relateable though. Honestly, I never much warmed to Beyonce as a high school girl, because I really didn’t connect with that whole “fierce” thing. I probably would have related far more to Taylor because she sings songs that I could have related to my life.

I’d like to see Taylor evolve, grow, and mature as an artist, but I don’t think there’s something wrong with acknowledging the very real insecurities about boys and relationships that teenage girls have.

            • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

She has not evolved at all though. She still acts like the shocked, deer in headlights girl every single time.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

My first thoughts were Education, Independence, and Career. At least, that’s what I was thinking about when I was 22.

      • decormaven

If she didn’t have love, she couldn’t write thinly-veiled songs about old lovers.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/D76J77BCSU6L7WY3X7HTJ624OU Chasity

I haven’t read it but it is possible that it makes more sense in context… or not I don’t know

    • MilaXX

      *yawn*
      she’s still boring

    • e jerry powell

HATE HER.  Don’t care what she’s wearing.

      • turtleemily

That cracked me up, thanks for that. Especially the part about not believing her being BFF with Emma Stone because I’ve wondered about that. I envision Taylor being all moon-eyed around Emma wishing that’s how she could really be.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Ugh. I just can’t even with her OR with that ridiculous quote.

    • jilly_d

Lol! When i read that quote i was all “commencing eye-roll sequence in 3…2…….” I just cannot with her.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NUZ2RGIDRXKK6ADHFPPCR6S3WI MariaM

SHe’s still very young, guys.  And I like the overall trend of looking less twee and more grown up.  I think she looks great here.

      • charlotte

“She’s still very young, we try not to sexualize her…”

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NUZ2RGIDRXKK6ADHFPPCR6S3WI MariaM

The reference to her youth wasn’t about the sex, it was about the stupidity.

          • charlotte

I know, it’s just a quote from Community.

    • j_anson

This “slutty virgin” variation on Taylor Swift fails to interest me. I like “possibly homicidal twee” better.

    • SewingSiren

It’s Halloween! Not Chirstmas!! I just broke about 7 sewing machine needles trying to sew the Minotaur head together and I ended up sewing the goddamned thing by hand. … so I’m grouchy …. and it’s cold..

      • Indovina

I’m with you. But at this point, I’m pretty sure the Christmas season begins sometime in January.

      • formerlyAnon

But, you get to maintain your reputation as Costume Goddess.

    • unbornfawn

      Is she officially overexposed yet?

    • Joyce VG

      the cover is awful.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lenoradody Lenora Dody

Alright, I don’t want to be a demanding Bitter Kitten since I think the East Coast gets a huge break for at least a month but I hoping there is a Fringe post coming up!! I really want to know what you guys thought!  And just to be relevant, the dress is pretty but the quote is gag inducing!

    • blissful2

The font clashes so much with the dress and everything else.  It looks like graffiti.

    • NCDFan

Like the dress, don’t like the bangs, the quote is pretty much how I felt at 22.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Maybe I wasn’t the normal 22-year-old, but my friends and I did NOT think this way. At 22, I was in grad school and thinking about med school and my career.

        • http://www.flickr.com/photos/21151157@N00/ rawrgrowlrawr

I’m 22 and I do not think this way. The only girls I know who do simply have nothing else to offer the world. I fear Miss Swift is a wee bit dim.

          • l_c_ann

All who are dim should be so wealthy.

            • Laylalola

What a strange comment. What else is there but money?

        • NCDFan

Well, I was concerned about my career as well as quite a few other things, but most of my poor decisions were based on my hormones.

      • gsk241

Me, too.  But I was 22 a long time ago, so I’m sure that makes a difference.

    • krelnick

With the wonky font, I first thought it said, “What else is there other than come?”  She’s a meringue.

      • la_lala

I read it that way too! I was like, “Okay, girl!” Then I realized what it really said and I went back to finding her toothachingly irritating.

      • turtleemily

         Kennedy come, obviously.

    • Janet B

Unexpected choice, more of a grown up princess than twee princess.

I’m happy to see a cover without a gazillion silly words. (Could the real cover really be so clean?)

    • BrooklynBomber

      Nightclub Barbie!

    • Contralto

      Tres platinum.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Pretty enough dress, but they either padded the boobs, or photoshopped them in.

And I actually find that quote a little offensive. She’s too old (22) to be spouting stuff like that. It might have been cute at 17, but not now.

ETA: She looks like the “Christmas 2012 Barbie.”

    • MrsMaxPower

I just do NOT get her appeal…I just irrationally dislike her so much. Can we just fast forward to when she has a sex tape and loses her virginal branding?

    • susan6

Given how often she gets dumped, she better hope there’s something other than love….

    • http://twitter.com/LopezMolly Molly Lopez

Ugh, so boring I would love to see her die her hair and do a total style 360 and dress more like her vogue spread

    • VicksieDo

Girl, that is not your body!~

    • Laylalola

She’s morphing into almost the stereotypical big-haired big-boobed country star.

    • PastryGoddess

My teeth hurt just looking at all that fucking twee

    • jhedman

Why is Taylor Swift wearing Halle Berry’s dress?

    • Toto Maya

I wonder if she ever gets sick of wearing these dresses and just wants to try something funky.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Where’d she get that rack? The Photoshop? I hate that even the font of that cover quote is twee. The dress is pretty, but the red lip doesn’t suit her as well as she thinks.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001491006224 Brandon Yee

      Does her bust look bigger?

    • formerlyAnon

That gown is an excellent choice for a cover. It’s at the grown up end of her sartorial range and yet, as photographed, is not going to shock those who prefer her usual not-slutty presentation.

I am suspect those very lean arms really are her and the curves are padding, though.

    • http://twitter.com/dollsaga Dollsaga

the hairstyle is good for jeans, not this gown.

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

I can’t stand this bitch and she looks like a “Taylor Swift Barbie”, but I love this cover.  Call me conflicted.

    • SophieCollier

That is an epic gown.  I love it!  I want it!

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I want to see Halle Berry in that gown.

      • joancarol

I thought the same thing!  It seems to have her name on it!

    • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

I dislike her, but she looks pretty damn gorgeous.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

I wish this child would find another lip color.

    • glennethph

I hate her. Seriously, she bugs.

    • rumrum

really, whats not to like looking like this…even if for a grown up?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I do love that dress, but it I wished there was more contrast on the cover. It’s so….neutral.

    • joancarol

I’m sorry, but her boobs are ridiculous.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

UGH OVER IT. There is a lot else other than love. UGH I’ve never been quite so irrationally, or maybe rationally at this point, irritated at a celebrity.

    • jw_ny

Everything about this girl just seems so plastic and contrived.  Her virginal Barbie doll schtick makes me want to vomit.

    • Christina MacDonnell

halle berry in this dress would put taylor swift to SHAME.  just imagine.  i would love to see her in it instead.

    • Funkykatt

She and I are the same height, I’m ok with her.

    • Imasewsure

I think it’s beautiful and I like the simple style of the cover (but not the sappy phrase). She looks like a glass of champagne or a crystal ornament… She usually bores me but I like this

    • sweet_potato

Love the dress, the cover model, not so much.

    • B_C_J

The dress is incredibly beautiful and it seems to fit well. If that is with the assistance of undergarments, well that’s why those undergarments exist.  Photoshopping is a different story.  I don’t know so I won’t judge.  The hair is ridiculous.  It looks dull and it is styled as if it were an afterthought.

    • snarkykitten

who designed that cover? an intern? it looks pathetic and sparse

    • librarygrrl64

      Yawn.

    • guest2visits

The quote is silly, but she looks amazing. And for some reason it brings to mind some of those goofy romantic comedies of the
      50s early 60s.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

She looks gorgeous. Love the dress.

    • Mexxoo

What’s Taylor doing in Halle Berry’s dress?
