Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s Collection

Posted on October 31, 2012

We recently featured Emma Roberts in one of the dresses from this collection and immediately got a lot of “TLO! WHO-WHAT-HOW WITH THE WHERE-WHEN?” style emails. So in the interests of providing our kittens with every single thing they ask for, here’s the entire Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s collection. It’s a bright, sleek, feminine set of pieces (very much in the Narciso mode) inspired by a recent trip to Istanbul. It’ll be available in Kohl’s on November 7th. Holiday dresses, darlings!

    Orientalist pants?

  • Colorblockapalooza!

I’m having serious Mondrian-Early-90s-clothing flashbacks. In a good way, but still.

    • AuntHo

Yeah. I’m just not wild about putting blocks on women’s curves. There’s no shape to this stuff, and the lines aren’t all that beltable. But I will have me one a them coats from the last shot, yessirree.

      • lovelyivy

Get out of my brain! All those blocks and the way he broke them up are very narcisco rodriguez… also the reason I’ve never been a big fan. Too much of his stuff is wildly unflattering on real bodies.

    • MoHub

My Mondrian-inspired colorblocking goes back to the mid-’60s. Everything old is new again.

      • BrooklynBomber

        Whoa. FLASHBACK!

  • elirt

Loving the 4th and 5th dresses!

  • wisenhar

Whoa, whoa, whoa!  The bitter kittens are supposed to get everything we want? I need to start my wish list.  Got any pictures of Shemar Moore?  🙂

    • MilaXX

Bonus points for Shemar sans shirt. I believe he goes jogging as much as McConaughey.

  • A. W.

I’d wear all of it, but how is this inspired by Istanbul? I’ve been there, none of this gives me a peep of Turkey.

    • editrixie

He talks about his inspirations in the current issue of InStyle magazine, if you’re in the States — don’t know about other non-US editions.

    • aumerle

my first inclination is to assume it’s the paisley and brocade prints

  • Le_Sigh

I’m in color-block heaven.  See you at Kohl’s ladies!

  • Joyce VG

    Love this!

  • Love the black and white dress and the purpleish and black dress.

  • decormaven

Black booties do not go with everything; spring for some different shoes, please. I like the color-blocked outfits the best; not feeling the track pants with the pajama bottom print design.

  • sarahmichelef

Ooooh…. love the last coat and the pink one, too. I might have to be making a trip to Kohl’s soon…

  • Laylalola

This reminds me of Target’s Missoni limited collection (and will probably run out just as fast) in that what I want to do is pick out a piece or two for my preteen niece, who will wear the shit out of it and think it’s super-kewl. But I don’t really have an inclination to get any of this for myself.

  • Lilithcat

    Oh, that fuchsia coat!  Love!

  • Half of these are robes and pajamas right?

    • 3boysful

Right–because if not, those are some fugly pants and tops.

  • MilaXX

Cute but like the Missoni for Target collection I doubt it comes in plus sizes

    • imspinningaround

I know, right? 🙁  Because the black-and-white scuba-looking dress and that interesting gray tweed overcoat have my name all over them.

    • Kohls tends to be much better about plus & petite sizes availability – their collections usually come in all the size options (I buy Vera Wang petites, eg), so I wouldn’t count it out just yet.

      • MilaXX

Designers are much more willing to design for petites than they are plus sizes. I rarely shop at Kohls, so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

        • Call me Bee

I’ve tried Kohls for plus sizes–nothing but old-lady stuff.  Unlike Boston Store (the Bonton group store in our area) which has the same designer stuff in plus sizes, Kohls has nothing but polyester pants and ugly tops in plus.  Same with Penny’s.  Grrrr.

        • Well as a petite that can never find a shirt/dress in which the armholes don’t go past my underboob, I beg to differ.

    • ChaCha_70

My thoughts exactly. Love all the colorblock dresses in particular but wonder if I’d look as good in them vs on the hangers, er models.

      • MilaXX

Pfftt color blocking  can totally work on plus sizes

  • Allison Woods

One of everything, except the jammies, please.

  • I love that this set of Kohl’s clothing is way more fashion forward than anything the past season of Project Runway produced for the finale. Awkward.

    • tallgirl1204

My first thought was that this has little whiffs of Elena’s decoy collection.  Nothing usually fits me at Kohl’s, but I’m going to try anyway.

  • kschwarting

Some of these are pretty attractive, but it all comes down to whether the finishing and the fabric are nice.  I’m trying to make the transition away from inexpensive, attractive clothes that won’t last to better-made, will have for years kind of clothes.

    • CozyCat

I know what you’re saying.  Fortunately, the designs avoid the kind of complicated details that are hard to reproduce well at Kohls prices, so it’s all going to come down to the fabrics.

  • Judy_J

I never shop at Kohl’s, but I may have to pop in and give this collection a look-see.  I really like the color block dresses.

    • meowing

Me, too–have never found anything there, but may make a trip to see these in person.  It all depends on the fabrics and finishing, IMHO.

  • Trisha26

Not crazy about the prints, but the coats & color block dresses are to die. Love the second look & the last coat.

  • PastryGoddess

That long coat is mine. I may also have to take that black and green colorblocked dress as well.

Not sure about that black and white dress.  I might have to try that on

  • In_Stitches

What is it with these undetailed thick-fabric jackets?  The look like fleece bathrobes.  Emelio had them in his final PR runway and I laughed when they came out.  Talk about cheap.  Maybe they transform in person.

The color blocked skirts, tops and dresses are fabulous.

  • librarygrrl64

Love the coats, and the orange and pink dress. Bet these won’t come in big girl sizes, though. :-/

  • LilyPad

This collection looks like it was inspired by a recent trip to Chico’s. Do not love.

  • kimmeister

A few of these pieces are just silly, but a few are fantastic.  The only one I can see myself actually purchasing is the aqua/black/blue color blocked top.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

The only thing that looks good to me is the pink swing coat in the first shot.

  • Scarlet39

I’m not crazy about any of it.

  • Ooh, cute! Love all the flowy pajama-esque pants! Very much on trend with my new desire to feel as if I’m wearing pajamas all the time, but not look it. 😉

  • gabbilevy

I so badly want that raspberry colored dress (picture #4). SO BADLY.

  • Tatiana Luján

I love the grey jacket and coat; the black, acqua and blue top; the colorblock skirts and the second dress. I wish I could buy them.

  • Vaniljekjeks

I think I need one of my American friends to pick me up one of the raspberrry/black dresses.  That’s gorgeous.  I love the lines.

  • MightyMarshal

  • Kate4queen

I think I might have to go to Kohls…

  • EEKstl

This is the best “lower end” collection I’ve ever seen.  I see a Kohl’s in my future.

  • filmcricket

You fellas are so good to us. Thank you!

  • snarkykitten

how flattering this would be on anyone over a size 4. not.

  • Really, really like. Agree with other posts about the retro influence, probably why I like it. Who doesn’t need a hot pink coat (particularly is Post-Sandy New Jersey!)

  • Call me Bee

These are very cute and stylish.
Too bad that most of Kohls’ fashions, even the “designer” stuff like Vera Wang and Dana Buchman is made from cheap fabric by little kids in China I’m guessing.

  • crazy ukraine

  • ballerinawithagun

Love! Especially the black & white dress. Don’t care for the pajama look though. This photo shoot looks much better than the extremely scrawny, underfed models in the TV ad.

  • So I’m gonna be there at 7am on the 7th…

  • quiltrx

Really cool collection!  I’m kind of hoping the coats come in moo-cow sizes, because I’d kind of like one.

  • Anathema_Device

This one of the best of these kinds of collections I’ve seen. As usual, a lot will depend on the fabric, but I like so much of this!

  • sockandaphone

i covet the last two jackets and ill do my darnest to find them.

  • Huh. I was at Kohl’s last month, and I couldn’t find ANYTHING I liked, and they were already playing Christmas music, so I had decided we were in a fight.

    ….well played, Kohl’s.

  • Tamara Hogan

Very nice clothes – if the fabric quality is adequate – but I think most of these pieces are so ”signature’ and on-trend that they’ll quickly become dated. Exception: the last two jackets. COVET.

  • teensmom99

Must check out the coats.  November 7 duly noted on my calendar.  And my hubby even has a kohl’s gift card!  I thought we’d use it on socks and stockings!

  • sweetlilvoice

I love Kohl’s and can’t wait for these. Love the bright colors. I always get a Kohl’s GC for Christmas too. I hope the pieces are of better quality and fabrics than the JLo one….

  • This trend of designers coming to discount department stores is just awesome! I’m wearing Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s right now and I’ve already gotten a ton of compliments. It’s just so cute!

  • frannyprof

TLo, I think you just helped my figure out how I’m going to blow through my holiday bonus (if i get one this year…).

  • warontara

Booo….the only things I like out of this are long-sleeved, which won’t be long enough on me! 🙁 ***whine***

  • these beauties can’t get on my body fast enough!

  • toolnife

Okay, let me first say I got here by accident, and I’m a straight dude, but I have seen the commercials for this line of clothing, and I can’t believe all of you are not outraged by the skeletal beings acting as “models”.Beside the fact they are hideously thin, their makeup is creepy, or maybe they are just creepy. They look like Ashton Kutcher lost fifty pounds and started cross dressing. The clothes are as bad as the models. I thought it was a joke when I first saw it. They say women don’t dress to impress men, they dress to impress other women. I find it difficult to believe anyone would be attracted to anything inthis commercial!
