Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the Hollywood Film Awards

And now… a Boy.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt attends the 16th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala presented by The Los Angeles Times in Beverly Hills, California.

A boy with exactly one facial expression.

As per the usual, he looks pretty great. Those kinda cheap-looking shoes make us cringe a little bit, but in a sea of neckbeards, bad hems, and sloppy ties, he stands out in front of his peers on the style front. We can forgive the shoes when everything else is working as well as it is here.

What a boy, what a boy, what a mighty fine boy.

    • mmc2315

Yes.  And I’m way too old for him, and I’m feeling a bit dirty about my attraction to him.  Uh, in a good way?

      • Violina23

Did you see Looper? They intentionally aged him up in that, it was intriguing…

Some people will always have a baby face. Generally speaking, I’ll say “good for them!”

      • Mary229

He’s not that young, you know.  He’s over 30.

        • twocee

Oh good, then I won’t be arrested for my thoughts 😉

          • Mary229

I have no idea how old you are but of course not.  He’s 31 years old.   And considering that our culture has no problem with women being 10-15 years younger than their male lovers…I see no reason why it should be any different when it’s reversed.

          • fallen_ikon

I had no clue he was my age because he really is so young looking. I was feeling kind of creepy for finding him attractive, then I saw his date of birth and thought “Oh…he’s actually a few months OLDER than me. Haha, I can perv on him all I want!”

    • Pants_are_a_must

I salute your excellent paraphrase of Salt-n-Pepa.

      •  Here, here! I do as well and chime in that he is awfully cute. Too young for me and not remotely attracted to him but look at that suit!

    • Kristin McNamara

I see what you did there.

  • MoHub

Is the jacket a teensy bit too long? It’s making his legs look stumpy.

But otherwise, a breath of fresh air compared with many of his peers.

    • mountainFashionista

I wonder if he’s got really short legs, relative to his height? This is the second time in as many posts that I’ve thought he looked stumpy, despite being impeccably turned out.

  • Joseph looks great here.  I love the subtle color usage, and the choice of the dark plaid shirt. He’s giving out with his, “I don’t really give a crap about this stuff, but its part of my job” look.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Pretty much what it is. It’s the same facial expression you see on the majority of stars who are contractually obligated to attend the San Diego Comic Con.

    •  But at least he’s not pairing the “I don’t give a f*ck” face with the same wardrobe. Boy made an effort, and for that, I thank him wholeheartedly.

      • decormaven

Hear, hear! That’s a great shirt. Props to his stylist for a very pulled-together look.

  • Geoff Dankert

And did you notice: HIS HANDS ARE NOT JAMMED IN HIS POCKETS. Clearly, he’s a Bitter Kitten. Private to JGL: “Haaaaay.”

    •  I did ,I did!  He gets so many extra points for this.  And for being squeaky clean, boy next door, cute, too.

      • mjude

        he is just so adorable

    • ecallaw1977

I always enjoy TLo and the comments, but every now and then one elicits an actual giggle from me.  “Private to JGL…” got me all tickled.

  • And he didn’t even put his hands in his pockets.

I love the fact that the vest goes down to just over the top of the pants to avoid the horrible peekaboo triangle that wrong-fitting 3 piecers often sport….

  • Mama’s precious little angel.

  • This is a pefect illustration of needing to close your jacket over a vest if you so choose to wear one. JGL is stick thin but even he looks a little paunchy with the jacket open. Close the button, sweetie.
Love that plaid shirt. Wish the tie was a contrasting color, but it’s still a really sharp look.

  • everest19

“Yup, I’m still here. Posin’. Standin’. It’s whatever.” COME TO ME, JGL. LET ME LOVE YOU.

  • In_Stitches

It’s a bit dreary, no?  I’d advise a shiny belt, but that vest is going to cover it and I’m not sure if a watch is going to bring enough sparkle to lighten up the whole thing.  A pocket watch would be a bit too man-twee.    He appears to be in need of a haircut as well.  I guess it’s fine, he’s done better.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Bored-out-of-his-fine-ass boy. Like someone dragged him on his one day off and forced him into this outfit/event. At least he’s deferring to his old standard: 3-piece with plaid.

  • This one knows what he is doing.  Keep it up. For me, please.

  • nannypoo

He looks great. I think the facial expression could be called “sardonic”. You’d think an actor would have an assortment of facial expressions.

  • Oh god can he do all sorts of things to me. I mean for me. Yeah, for me.

    • DeborahJozayt

He’s a multi-tasker. He can do to and for you damn near simultaneously.

      •  I like where you’re heading with that Deborah. I like it a lot. 🙂

  • jw_ny

    Perfect! 🙂

  • Janet B

JGL either has a terrific stylist or very good taste in clothes.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Terrific stylist. If it were up to him, all he’d wear would be jeans and HitRECord t-shirts.

  • kolokOlchik

Thanks to you boys, I’ve developed an obsession with this sexy creature.  I have even had him visit me in my dreams.

  • siriuslover

I love how he dresses, but the pictures seem so dark. I would have liked a little bit of contrast. But still lookin’ good JGL!

  • ballerinawithagun

As I’ve said before concerning him, “I am so Mrs. Robinson!”

  • Clueless_Jock

    It’s too matchy matchy.

  • unbornfawn

I really appreciate how he dresses for the red carpet. He puts an effort in and his clothes look flawless and he can keep his hands out of his pockets. If we can get him to crack a smile or maybe go to the mirror and practice a couple of other expressions for the camera, he’ll be knocking it out of the park every time.

  • Why do I hate his eyebrows so? Or is it the obnoxious way he uses them?

Regardless, I like this suit a lot and he has the perfect build for a fitted 3-piece. Don’t love the shirt, but he still looks as good as he can (just not my type).

    • margaret meyers

I want him to use just a little eyebrow pencil.

  • God, he’s adorable. I just want to smooosh his cheeks and take him home so I can, um, admire him.

  • MilaXX

Sure it’s one facial expression, but at least he can wear clothes well and always puts for the the effort for RC appearances.

  • I think I’ve decided that I just don’t like 3-piece suits very much. I like what he’s done with the plaid shirt and whatever, but I think he’s looked better in the skinnier cut 2-piece suits.

  • Mary229

Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt the male Amy Adams…in that he always looks perpetually 25 years old even though he’s like 30 now?

  • JGL in a three-piece suit will make me happy any day, ALL day.

  • Jenna621

He looks tired.  Crazy hot, but tired.

  • He always wears killer suits, and he’s great at patterns. Love the shirt.

  • Sunshine16

He might have only one expression, but he’s cute as a button!  I’ll take it 🙂

  • twocee

I know I should like the plaid shirt with the suit, but it just seems way too dark/drab to me.  Maybe with a lighter suit?  Or a lighter plaid color scheme?

  • KathKo

It’s a memento of the vastness of celeb’men bad taste that you would pass a blind eye on a seriously ugly pair of shoes just because this one managed to do a half descent job in hemming and trimming.
Julianne Moore would have been trashed over a bad pair of shoes and a passable dress.
Chloe Sevigny would have been nicknamed “Dzina”, choir singer in her town church and secretly bad shoes addict.
Paz De La Huerta would have been… Er… OK, not defending Paz here.
Anyway, I’m pissed that the boys don’t put the effort.
I mean, hair and beard trimming, a little bit of foundation, a suit, with a buttoned jacket and hemmed pants, a descent pair of shoes and hands of your pockets, damnit !
Is that to hard to ask ? Can’t you ever bother ?
And don’t get me started on this one. Should leave the botox at his age or he will definitely stay with that facial expression for the rest of his life.

  • Imasewsure

He looks good but I am getting tired of this look… although as you say, miles better than most of his man-boy compatriots on the RC

  • Two of these four pictures are the same picture.  As far as  his expressions go, he’s getting his picture taken so what-he should mug for the cameras?  Maybe he’s feeling tired.  And I think he looks extremely good in his suit.   (Having inappropriate thoughts…)

  • cleverlady

What a way to rock a three piece… JGL, plaid shirt, cool tie, “non traditional” shoes and all perfectly tailored.  I think he tends to  look a bit shy, quirky and modest in the must-do posing for those cameras, “look here, look here”  and flash bulbs. He seems to have more going on in his head than just being a movie star.  Always happy to see his face on your pages.

  • iCouture

He may look like a boy, but I bet he is a MAN in the sack…..  Mmmmmm…JGL…..

  • Aww, cute.

  • Zomg, he does it for me.

  • I really love him, but I have this horrible sneaky feeling that he’s a secret douchebag. I really hope I’m wrong.
Boy looks darn fine in a suit though, douchebag or no. I especially like the plaid shirt here.

  • boweryboy

Flawless. Everything fits him so perfectly. It’s weird how he can go from looking hunk-a-licious manly (FLAUNT and GQ editorials) to blandly boyish. He’s not my cup of tea. I prefer looking at him when he’s hunked up.

  • Luneowl

Listened to him on the Nerdist podcast and he’s a pretty down-to-earth guy for being an actor since he was a kid. That he cleans up well doesn’t hurt either!

  • Audrey Young

I would have gone with a different shirt, but other than that he looks fine.

  • Frank Li

I think he chose those beat-up looking shoes on purpose, and it works with the checkered dress shirt.

  • ZnSD

I could totally go there and be like all “Ima fuck him till he cry” but I will refrain and instead say that he looks very nice.

  • He’s not “a boy”. He’s “THE boy”.

  • librarygrrl64

Still nursing a cougar-like crush on this young man. xxxooo

  • PeaceBang

He is so adorable. LOVE the plaid. Does anyone else feel that Kevin Spacey needs to play his father?

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

What a joy to see a clean shaven face, and hair that is not only clean, but combed.  Well done, young man.

  • ccm800

Cutie – shows himself well nearly every time.
