Love her, don’t care what she wears.  That being said, I think this is really cute.

      • kschwarting

I’m with you.  She’s talented and beautiful and I am dying to see her in “The Heiress” on Broadway.

    • nannypoo

If there’s ever a dinner in my honor I will bring a comb.

    • Sobaika

Whichever Bitter Kitten coined the term ‘titscrepancy’ must be having a field day right now.

    • Imasewsure

Beautiful from the neck up (except as nannypoo says, needs a comb)… dull and boardline ugly from the neck down! That non-color is awful on her although maybe the black border helps…

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Cute dress, thank god she had the skirt lined. The shoes are meh. What’s up with that hair?

      • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow aka Darth Mommy

Let’s blame the weather, shall we? Let’s hope it looked better when she left the house and fell flat.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Really now, she’s the effing guest of honor. They couldn’t wait one, while she re-zhuzzed her coiffure?

          • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow aka Darth Mommy

There had to have been a high maintenance lady or a fabulous gay around with something on hand to help?  Yes?

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m so thankful that she had the skirt lined.  My crusade against sheer continues….Thank you, Jessica, for unwittingly enrolling in it.  Now, dear, next time just graciously excuse your pretty little self and pop into the powder room for a quick hairdo repair.

      • 3boysful

My comment was also going to be about the lining.  Huzzah!

Perhaps she should call K-Stew and inquire about product ?  (The minions are on a hair fetish lately!)

    • B_C_J

The dress is doing her no favors. It is making her look thick and I am sure she is not. The pale dress and the nude makeup is making her looked washed out.  The hair looks limp.  This is not a good look especially when you are the guest of honor.

      • DylanCurtis

YES! YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

      • curiouserandcuriousest

Part of the thickness for me is an effect of the black straps, that make it look like she’s toting a little black backpack. The way backpack straps cut across like that is rarely flattering, je trouve. Also, it just fits badly around the bust.

        Gah, the hair!

    • MilaXX

Love the dress, but I wish she had a warmer lip.

      • Mary229

This has been my complaint about pretty much every entry on here lately though.  We keep hearing that a berry lip is making a huge comeback but I don’t see it.  So many women are stil showing up with the nude lip.

        • MilaXX

For me it’s te lack of middle ground. I love a dark lip, but not every look needs one. She would have been fine with a peach lip. The outfit was too colorless to go with a nude face & they should have dyed or filled in the brows just a tiny bit.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Pretty but the bust fit is a little wonky.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

Pale girls look better (usually) in more color and SOME makeup, sigh. I do like the cut of the dress on her, and the shoes would be cute if they weren’t so platform-y. And maybe something around the heel? I keep imagining the SLAP-SLAP noise in my head as she walks.

      • Ceur

Jason Wu disagrees – look at the model. But some lip colour would have been nice.

        • mshesterp

And I disagree with mr. wu–i think this washes both Jessica and the model out.  The style is cute, but the white is not (for her).  Color, Jessica!

      • Mary229

I tend to agree with you but I have noticed that this seems to be a trend right now.  You see alot of very fair skinned women doing the nude make-up and sheer colors.  It’s not my favorite look but it does seem to be a trend.

    • alyce1213

What a weird, unflattering, and ill-fitting neckline and bodice.  Just awful.
This is not a good look for her.  And her hair’s a mess.

    • Trisha26

It doesn’t fit her in the bodice and it’s just strange in general, very puckery even on the model. And it looks vaguely S&M-y.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

No. The hair is a disaster. I really don’t like the dress on her – the waist feels too high and I don’t think the black and white is doing her favors in this.

    • Camille Mayeux

Darken your eyebrows woman! and slap on some lipstick

      • kimmeister

Yes, the eyebrows are my #1 beef.  Her eyes are so deeply set that she really needs to balance them with a stronger brow.

      • B_C_J

         You are absolutely right!!!

    • kayleymaybe

I have similar coloring to her, and man does it drive me crazy when she wears these pale things.  Pale redheads are made to wear beautiful colors, not drab dresses that blend in with our skin!!

      • mshesterp

no white or blush or nude near the face of us whiter-than-white (befreckled) folks!  It’s just so…blah.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=779473124 Crystal Marie Stewart

Oooh! Pretty! For her, this is a huge improvement.

      • NC_Meg

Totally agree! Compared to what she normally wears on the RC, she looks amazing.

    • victoria rodeno

Just saw “The Heiress” with her in NYC. She is awesome!!!!! Dress is nice too

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

This feels bland and ill fitted.

    • http://twitter.com/ktbassett Katrina Bassett

      I like the shoes.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

THIS, THIS is what she wears to a dinner in her honor .. aaackkk I say (sounding like my mother when she saw I was wearing jeans to my wedding reception).

      • DCSheehan

You wore jeans to your wedding reception? I’m kind of impressed. And surprised. But mostly impressed.

        • IMNAngryLiberal

It was a mixed marriage — all of my friends were hippy liberal social worker/musician/poet/artist types and my husband’s friends were narcs (he was in military intelligence at the time).  I dressed to make MY people comfortable and he dressed to make HIS people comfortable.  My mother was happier sitting with HIS people :)

    • MissFern

makeup is your friend, jessica!  as is toe nail polish!

    • l_c_ann

Boobs don’t fit where the boobs should be?               Check
Short waist look with belt two inches below boobs?  Check
Waist line detail looks like cheap garter belt?           Check

Flotus turned down opportunity to wear this?            Check, check, check. Wu is disconsolate.

    • decormaven

Hey, Jessica Chastain’s publicist! Next time you go to the trouble of getting someone/thing to host a dinner in honor of your client, how about springing for an A-list hair/MUA? While the stylist failed on getting the bodice properly fitted, at least the dress/jewelry/shoe selections work together. What a fail for the publicity team; again, Jessica’s left hanging out to dry.

    • TSkot

      Girl, that’s not your dress.

    • Mary229

The skirt appears sheer on the model but doesn’t appear sheer on her?  Am I seeing things?  She’s a lovely woman and I find her lovely in pretty much everything she wears.   Damn, I wish I was a ginger.  I just love the gingers.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I wished it fit better from the waist up, it would have been a bit better. Are her toes hanging off the front of those shoes? Either way they should be burned since they don’t have a back and probably make the same noise as a freaking flip flop.

    • 3boysful

Really, fellow BKs, for all the nits we could pick with this, it is one of her better looks.  The final product being more than the sum of its parts, y’know?

    • Elleachaudaucul

There’s something sporty or casual about her look here. If I were the Harry Winston people I would be a bit disappointed that she didn’t wear something with more impact or glamour (or colour).

      • Patricia Gillett

Thinking the same thing. They want the jewelry against something that makes it pop. Not. This.

    • LLuL

From the thumbnail I thought she had some type of suspenders with a tank situation going on. I was hoping she had on formal shorts. On a side note- Why is she not photogenic? She’s a seriously beautiful women. It’s obvious when she’s on screen, but she hardly ever looks that way in pictures.

    • http://twitter.com/lolacestmoi Veronika Kaufmann

      The jewelry is nice.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s pretty enough, though the white washes her out a bit, and the fit could be better in the bust. All that aside, I like it. It’s a cute little dress, I like her hair and makeup (though, a bolder lip is called for), like the bracelet, and the shoes are fine.

    • ChelseaNH

I’ts not bad, but it hasn’t grown up to be the dress it needs to be.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Given that the straps are doing that weird wonky thing on both Jessica and the model, I think it is a design flaw. I think it’s an improvement on a lot of her other looks, but a more defined lip would be good.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

My favorite part of this look is that black lace edging. It is gorgeous,

    • crash1212

Hair and make-up are fabulous. Not sure about the dress though, but can’t really put my finger on what’s off for me. I like the concept…maybe it’s too white and all that white is washing her out? Don’t know. Not crazy about the shoes. Maybe it’s the total lack of color…other than her hair? That’s it…needed a pop of color – lip and toes. Glad I could work through that.

Tennis Dress.  the sheer skirt in the runway version was interesting (though I hate visible granny panties always), with the same fabric as the bodice this goes right to cutesy tennis dress for me.  Too casual

    • lucasuk82

The hem detail is really interesting.  She’s really gotten a handle on what makeup will suit her in red carpet lighting.

    • RedRaven617

Had the black trim been put on the scoop of the neckline, it would look less ghostly.

    • PastryGoddess

Apparently she and Uma Thurman share the same cobbler

    • guest2visits

Shoes are cute – but the dress is not. The dress makes her look extra wide and washed out. Kind of cheap looking design.

    • quiltrx

That’s a cute dress (hate the visible underpants bit with the model).  Maybe it’s just how she’s standing, but the straps don’t look the same…like a PR dress that someone got in a hurry to finish.

And that bracelet is incredible…but shit, if there was a Harry Winston event for ME?  I would be like “bitches, bring out all the BIG necklaces you got, and let me pick!”

    • BrooklynBomber

      No.

    • LeeFrew527

She is beautiful, but expecting a cute dress to carry all the weight for her look is ridiculous. Comb  your hair! and put on some makeup, please.

    • EEKstl

She looks lovely, but WHY is Harry Winston having a dinner in her honor?  I don’t understand.

    • littlemac8

I can’t stand that dress; it’s as unflattering on the model as it is on Jessica.  Please ask for a “do over.”

    • littlemac8

The dress is sooo blah I’m not even interested in the diamond jewelry…something is definitely wrong here!

    • Bwin51

      No, Jason, just no.

    • enchanted216

Very pretty……….for summer!  And she desperately needs lipstick.
