Jaime King in Christian Dior

Posted on October 19, 2012

Jaime went for this sort of high-end beatnik look and we think we love it.

Jaime King attends the launch of Rachel Zoe’s ‘Major Must Haves’ from Jockey event in West Hollywood, California in Christian Dior.

Christian Dior Fall 2012 Collection/Model: Siri Tollerød (MARILYN)

Christian Dior Fall 2012 Platform Pump

It’s like she should be wandering through the background while Audrey Hepburn excitedly talks about empathicalism. The problem, of course, is that she pretty much duplicated the runway look from head to toe. No, wait; she switched out those Christian Dior shoes on the runway for another pair of Christian Dior shoes, with an infinitesimally slight difference! Genius!

Oh, we’re being bitches. Like we said, it’s a look that suits her. And the slightly retro touches in the styling help to make the look. We’d always rather see stylists and stars interpret pieces rather than duplicate runway looks, but she looks cute and how much can we really complain about that? Even we’re not that bitchy.

Those boobs! They make black bras, you know.

    • velomango

Agree! I was just thinking the same thing. I really dig the look and would love to own it, but….black bra, black bra!

    • DinaSews

and they make them with support.

    • MoHub

Colors, too. I have yellow, red, orange, burgundy, royal blue, navy, and purple—as well as black, white, and nude. If I can do this on my budget, the little ladystars should certainly be able to.

    •  That’s camera flashes bouncing off a shiny fabric. She definitely could’ve used better support, but that’s not a white bra peeking through that you’re seeing.

      • nannypoo

Due to the sagginess, I assumed it’s no bra.

        • Kristin McNamara

I think they might be ginormous nip-stickers actually…. I was trying to figure that out too, because you can see edges of SOMETHING, but that top is definitely sheer/tight enough that if she were wearing a full-on bra, it would be SUPER visible.

    • out for a walk

I’m pretty sure it IS black, it’s just a shiny satiny black.

  • MilaXX

There’s something weird going on with the boobs. Either she needs a bra or needs a different bra.

    • MoHub

There’s definitely a sag factor operating there.

    • mjude

agree, how about a black bra!

    • schadenfreudelicious

agreed, the lack of support and the boob sheen is so distracting it takes away from the entire outfit..

      • Magatha

You’re right, no doubt about it…but let’s remember that although this is the look WE have to go on, she spent the rest of the time walking around looking chic without harsh lights illuminating her chestal region. Designers and stylists really ought to be able to manage the bright light effect by now.

        • Yep, even I have learned my lesson when I wore a tan bra under a thick jersey knit black dress to a wedding years ago. You couldn’t tell at all in person, but it showed up in photos that I still have to look at every once in a while. Most unfortunate…

  • I love the skirt. Its gorgeous.  And the color is great for her. Not on board with that necklace, though.  It seems a bit too heavy/large for her.

    • kimmeister

Is it a necklace, or is it attached to the top?

      •  Definitely a necklace. See how it arcs over the neck band of the knit top?

  • I love the look, but not the shoes.  I have a hatred for square toe shoes. These are certainly no exception.

    •  Don’t they make her feet look enormous? Not a fan of them at all!

  • iCouture

This girl scarily resembles Lindsey Lohan, I cant….

But the looks retro cute, not bad.

    • GorgeousThings

I said the same thing, then I saw your comment. It is scary, especially in that first shot and its close up

    • Le_Sigh

      Damn – now I can’t un-see it.

    • Magatha

In mitigation, she looks kinda like Lindsay Lohan’s long-lost but really quite sensible and certainly very attractive older sister. Lindsay should reunite with Jaime and enroll in Jaime King classes.

  • Patricia Gillett

There’s a bad bra situation going on here. Also, this is screaming for some earrings or a cocktail ring.

  • The lack of a proper bra is so distracting.  For the umpteenth time, don’t these people pass a mirror on the way out the door?  How could she don clothes worth thousands of dollars and not notice that her bustline was askew and droopy?

  • GorgeousThings

From the neck down she looks great. From the neck up – is it just me, or does she look like a thinner, hopefully-less-fucked-up version of Lindsay Lohan?

  • Aw you made my morning with the Funny Face reference. I love it!

  • Janet B

I like the look on Jaime, too bad the lighting is horrible.

  • Dot

I actually prefer the shoes on the model over the ones she chose. Overall, I like the look though. Hate the “chewing the inside of my cheeks” look in the fourth photo down. Why must lady stars do this?!

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Sometimes runway looks are just so good and translate to reality so seamlessly (well, the reality of a red carpet) that there’s no need to gild the lily or totally wreck the lily by introducing new ideas.  She looks pretty flawless here.

  • The top is making me twitch. It looks like ski-wear. I don’t know how it can look so thick and yet seem to be sheer at the same time.

Those shoes are gorgeous and I love the skirt, it’s just the top that’s bugging me.

    • PinkLemon

i think it’s a shine more than sheerness. but it does indeed look like athletic wear. I NEED THAT SKIRT.

    • decormaven

Yes! With that harsh lighting, it looks like an Under Armour top. It looks soft-ish on the runway, but loses it in that lighting. The color of the skirt- sigh… That’s a lovely shade.

  • Gorgeous despite aforementioned foundation support issue.

  • B_C_J

Very sophisticated,  amazing look from head to toe. The only issue is with the undergarment showing through the top.  Otherwise it is absolutely perfect.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Next time, BLACK BOOB TAPE, if you insist on not wearing a bra under a shirt that could take a bra, for crying out loud.

  • It reminds me of the bohemian collections of the late 70’s, early 80’s, only up to date for today. Very feminine, very pretty and ladylike.

Black bra, indeed. Please, we beg you.

  • I’m in love. That skirt is fabulous. I adore the shoes. I’ll be looking for a reasonable facsimile of the necklace. My word.

  • Jen Freeman

I’m not mighty impressed with this, simply because it looks almost exactly like something her character on “Hart of Dixie” would wear.  I’m pretty sure I’m the only person over the age of 15 who watches that show, but it’s kinda adorably cheesy. But her character, Lemon Breeland (yes, I know) is very conservative and modest in her clothing, with the exception of giant jewelry.  The only difference is that Lemon would have a white shirt and yellow or pink skirt instead of the black and plum.

  • Mary229

I love this outfit.  Yes, she duplicated the runway look but I’m not sure I care when it works this well.

    • Yeah, I’m having a hard time agreeing with many bitter kittens here – so different, so Zoe-tastic, so autumnal.  I like it a lot.

  • Judy_S

The heavy neck thing does not belong in Funny Face, but otherwise… the skirt reminds me of a skirt my mother had when I was very little, in the early 50s. It was purple but a very nice quality cotton in a small, gentle plaid on ivory. I remember her telling me it was a good quality and would last a long time. I don’t know whether she managed to wear it out before it went hopelessly out of style (she was pregnant a lot in that decade so there were definitely years when it would not have fit her!).

  • LLuL

I bought my seven year old that shirt to wear under his soccer jersey. Seriously though, whatever fabric that is that can’t take a flash bulb should be banned from the red carpet. Guarantee the bra was not visible in person.

  • AR16

Love the link to your Funny Face review.  Now I’m going to have to read all the Musical Mondays posts, however many there are.

  • granddelusion

It always disconcerts me when I see white boobs poking out of black tops. Surely that can be fixed? Unfortunately, it’s all I can see, so, shoes? What shoes?

  • *shrieks* What’s the matter with her bewbies?!?!?  Ack!

  • LesYeuxHiboux

She looks surprisingly cute in this. I’m not sure I would have seen this as a good direction for her personal style. Skirt is cute, the shoes are hideous alone but somehow adorable on her feet, and I like the necklace. The overtaxed top, on the other hand…

  • That wide anklestrap makes her ankles look big.

  • pattyw

Hate the necklace. Completely ruins the look for me.

    • Is it a necklace or an embellishment on the top? #confused

  • Trisha26

There’s no contrasting color in the skirt though, and I hate what that top is doing to her boobs – is it just shiny or can we see her white bra? Love the necklace.

  • I want everything she’s wearing. Except maybe the shoes. Maybe it’s a cliche, but I’d have worn flats and gone full beatnik.

  • Whats the point of a personal stylist if theyre going to just snatch looks straight from the runway? If I styled that runway look I would be pissed to the highest of fashion gods that these celeb stylists put my work on their client and slapped in their name after “Styled by ___”

  • MarissaLG

Too bad about her boobs, but other than that I am really into this look. snaps.

  • I’m sure this costume cost more than a new car, but to me she looks like she went snorkeling and then threw an ugly old skirt from Goodwill on over it to go to eat at the Kremlin.  I don’t know; it’s horrible to me.

  • I covet those shoes madly, something I’m sure I’ve never said about a platform before.

    • they look like the love child of a platform pump and a ballerina’s toe shoe.

  • afabulous50

Hello Boobies!!!  Time for a different bra honey..

  • margaret meyers

That bell-shaped skirt is so feminne and really sets off nice ankles.

  • It’s horrifyingly unflattering around the bust – her boobs look flat and a tad saggy.

And I just don’t get what’s with the sudden trend with ladystars and unintentionally sheer tops. Isn’t there a stylist somewhere out there who knows what happens when tight knits, the wrong color bra, and flashes all converge?

  • guest2visits

I would love this but the boob issue is something that needs to be fixed. I don’t know if it’s the strobe lighting or the underwear.

  • another_laura

    me likey.

  • turtleemily

The top looks like she put a skirt on over her wetsuit.

  • The boobs are distracting me but otherwise I like the look.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

No love for that necklace.  It’s all I can look at.  Nope.  Has to go.

  • please tell me that necklace is not made out of zippers.

  • librarygrrl64

She needs a bra. Otherwise, I love this look.

  • Hetha Innis

This is one of those cases where the skirt looks really cool on the runway because it’s all fluffed up to the point of looking stiff. Then on the red carpet the pleats are flat instead of opened up and it goes the way of a prairie skirt rather than a full and lively look as in the runway version.

  • Sally Sue Magoo

I miss Musical Mondays.  I love everything you do, but on days that I need a huge laugh-I just re-read a Musical Monday.
