Heidi Klum in Brentwood

Posted on October 16, 2012

The Kluminator makes some highly questionable choices when she’s on the red carpet or on Project Runway, but one thing can’t be denied:

Heidi Klum spends her afternoon at a park with her family in Brentwood.

Jimmy Choo ‘Bonbon’ Saddle Bag

She’s got that “chic mommy” look down cold. She looks fabulous, even if that purse does look like it would annoy the shit out of anyone sporting it after an hour or so.

      LOVE the pants!

    • Pants_are_a_must

I’m thinking the pants are borderline Beetlejuice, but this look isn’t bad.

ETA: scratch that, the blouse is a sack.

      • http://twitter.com/Sinead_Doyle Sinéad Doyle

Beetle juice, that’s it exactly! I Immediately thought Tim Burton and was mentally going through his back catalog to see why my brain went there.

Chic mommy fo sho.  But those striped jeans are giving me a weird saddlebag illusion that does not flatter…

      • teensmom99

Yes, I wondered about that.  If they look like that on her, what would they look like on mere mortals?  That’s enough for me to dislike.

        • kschwarting

I think it’s same to assume that they would make mere mortals look dumpy, and can only be safely deployed on supermodels.

      • tallgirl1204

This confirms for me that even on the most fit and beautiful woman who has hips, that hipster jeans with a tucked-in woven top are not one’s best look.  Besides the saddlebag illusion, there is the phantom tummy.  This kind of outfit looks best on the really skinny no-hipped gals like Princess Kate.

      • mountainFashionista

I think vertical stripes are waaay overrated, as far as their “slimming” powers go. Because a vertical line will be distorted by any bulge, or bump, it actually accentuates, rather than disguises, said bulges and bumps.

      • NarimanAlkhatib

Idk I like saddlebags in general, i love that curve of my leg I think they’re a very feminine shape, plus it evens her lower half out

    • Janet B

She usually dresses herself with great style.  I am assuming that she has “help” on PR.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PVIY3NBCZJAJNFWDBCWG2DMKL4 Jen R

Interestingly, I just read through the PR anniversary book while wasting time at a book store and it turns out that she had to wear her own wardrobe and do her own makeup for the first couple of seasons of PR, plus she had no dressing room. So maybe you’re right, since her look  on PR has obviously changed over the years.

        • Susan Crawford

Right, Jen! I watched the first season recently, and Heidi’s vibe was definitely NOT high fashion. She often sported jeans, and didn’t look nearly as “groomed” and styled as she now looks. Clearly the show was greenlighted on condition that a strict budget could be adhered to. Even now, there are elements of the show that seem done “on the cheap”, but nothing like the early seasons. I guess all those product placements and sponsorships have helped. (But I kind of miss the casual style, to be honest. Nowadays, everyone is so shiny and upscale . . . a little downtown funk wouldn’t be amiss!)

    • NC_Meg

The pants remind me of a zoot suit (only skinner) or an old timey gangster.

    • random_poster

      Chic mommy it is!

    • Judy_S

I notice in the last shot that some other chic mommy dumped her bag on the ground. Heidi sensibly carried one that does not hold the kitchen sink (just the small change to buy one if her offspring so desire). I like this look.

    • nannypoo

      Chic, yet clearly into bondage.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

It really is crazy. I have never seen her dressed casually when I didn’t love what she was wearing – or rather how it looked on her. And she rarely wears something on PR or on the red carpet that I don’t loathe.

      • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

I like her casual style so much more too..

    • SapphoPoet

All the jingling would drive me mad. But she does look cute.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/2LIE6ISFQUBIAO7OB6U5TAVXXQ Depot'er

if you love the pants go to ANY chef ware type place….you will go bananas…
this looks so working class (no offense, former chef here) but anyone getting off shift…(sans great hair, money, purse, etc)

      not a good look, sorry.

    • http://twitter.com/Gardenofdaisies Jo Connolly

I love that she’s in flats.

    • MilaXX

I just wishes she realized how fab she looks dressing her age.

    • merciblahblah

I tried pants on just like those at Target yesterday (I’m sure they were a few hundy’s cheaper there) and L-O-V-E-D them. Still loving them on Heidi.

      • mountainFashionista

Did you buy them for yourself? I hope so!

    • Judy_J

      Love those stripey jeans!

    • CheriCPat

She needs a bra.  And the blouse is not cut close enough to be tucked into those pants, it floofs out and adds the appearance of weight that is not there.  I like the concept of the outfit, but the details.  The details.

    • Bozhi

I am so tired of low cut jeans.  I will not wear them.  Call my jeans “mom jeans” if you want, but the higher waist gives me a waist, longer legs and a better butt.  I will not wear jeans that make even Heidi’s legs look shorter.

      • kimmeister

Amen!  She even has her low-rise pants belted.  Wearing a belt NOT at my waist drives me batty.

    • Imasewsure

I might be able to rock those jeans but I certainly couldn’t tuck anything in to them! Love this look. Love her casual style.

    • LLuL

I like the look, but this is not flattering on her.

    • Mary229

She looks very chic and lovely but God I hate those pants.  I hate them.

    • maggiemaybe

Look at her getting her mod on! Fabulous.

      • Qitkat

        Bring mod back!

    • Call me Bee

Love this whole look–and wish I could wear it.  (Though…I could wear that fabulous bag, chains and all, right?)

    • LesYeuxHiboux

The pants would be great with a slimmer shirt. As is, it’s making her whole torso look as if it has slagged down into her hips (and I think we all have enough knowledge of Ms. Klum’s anatomy to know that isn’t true). I like the bag and the pants are fab, but I’m not crazy about the glasses and I flat-out hate the shoes.

She still looks occasion-appropriate and somewhat comfortably chic, which is not nothing with this one.

    • kimmeister

I like the pants, but I don’t think tucking a shirt into low-rise pants works on anybody.

    • MaryAtRealityTea

Really? I do not think this is a chic mommy look! It’s more like mommy does Michael Jackson half-heartedly for Halloween. The loafers? The Pants that are 80′s style? Eeks. Her hair looks great, though!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LSGDWPRY6JLBPB43EO6MIAURZI what

Ugh. I feel the same way. She looks like pretty much every tart in my old high school when they “dressed up” once in a blue moon, so it certainly doesn’t read chic to me. The teenage boys in the background just help drive that memory home.
And seriously Heidi, are those pants painted on? Can you say ‘yeast infection’, girl?

    • http://twitter.com/1carmelita 1carmelita

A big no on those pants. Very unflattering.

    • http://twitter.com/awtchy1 Ashley

I love the rando Chanel bag strewn on the grass behind her… is this what kiddy soccer games in CA are like?  If so, I want in.

      • Kris Santos

More like kiddy soccer games in the Brentwood/Pali/BH areas

    • RocknRollmom

Everyone makes very valid criticisms re pants and flouffy blouse but she looks happy and comfortable and still chic.  I hate her.

      • Jillaine13

I agree she looks the most naturally happy and relaxed that we’ve seen in quite a while.  Very mod and chic.  Love everything about the look.

    • Susan Crawford

I see what she was heading toward, but The Kluminator, once again, made a sudden turn off the Chic Mommy Highway onto Questionable Lane. Pants seem to poke out in strange places, none of them flattering, and OF COURSE, Heidi-Heidi-Ho must wear a see-thru blouse. But I do love that bag. T & Lo suggest it might become annoying to wear, but I am willing to road test it. Send it on, and I will report back to all the BK’s and PUF’s!

      • Susan Crawford

I take back the comment about Heidi’s blouse being see-thru. Turns out it was my wonky old computer screen. Blouse is NOT see-thru . . . which is sorta too bad, because without that, it’s just random and a bit blah.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

We should all look so good at the park!

    • Srw27

When I take my kid to the park, I ALWAYS wear my $1200 Jimmy Choo bag…

    • Trisha26

This is not chic to me. I also don’t like the chain belt with the chain purse strap.

    • butterflysunita

She looks adorable–I love her in casual clothes.  Much better than any of her shiny, tight and short dresses.

    • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

You think a small lightweight purse that she can just let hang loose would be more annoying than those gigantic shoulder bags the lady stars tend to sport? Spoken like someone who doesn’t use a lot of bags.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Oh, BRAVO, honey. You win the pointlessly obnoxious comment of the day award! Not only did you put words in our mouths, but you managed to pull a couple of wrongheaded assumptions right out of your ass. We said nothing to compare it to larger sized bags and we both carry bags every day.

For the record, we figured that purse would be annoying with the chains banging against her hip.

        • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

Yeah, sorry guys. You’re right. I’m to young to turn into a sour old b*tch. I’ll try to watch it. :(

    • Qitkat

Sporty Kluminator looks darn cute here. And who says tucked-in shirts can’t pooch out a little and still look stylish. I’m not fooled that she still has a bangin’ figure.
I like the bag too, that is the look of the bag, even the chains that would only bother me if they were hitting bare skin; what I don’t like are saddle bag purses, they drive me nuts every time I search for something and the darn flap keeps flapping back over and won’t stay out of the way.

    • guest2visits

Sorry, I find the pants un-chic. Loud for a day in the park, no?  I really think the pants have an unflattering fit, and the stripes
accentuate it. The whole look seems abit busy, with the belt, bag, and chains. I liked the top half before I scrolled down.

    • TieDye64

      Love it.

    • Zippypie

I don’t like the pants.  They make her look wide and she’s definitely not wide.  I think they’re too tight.  And may be giving her a bit of camel toe but I really didn’t want to look that closely.  The rest of the outfit, the hair, the sunglasses, even that bag, look fine.

    • margaret meyers

I’m getting a little bit of Patsy Stone’s aging-rockstar-supermodel pong off of this look.  Amirite?

    • quiltrx

That’s an awesome outfit, including the bag.  Were I skinny and rich, I would rock the shit out of that!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LSGDWPRY6JLBPB43EO6MIAURZI what

Ha! I think you might be right.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Nice, casual, rock n roll, mommy chic.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

      Oh Meh.

    • lizlemonglasses

Eh. Keith Richards wore it better.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

Who makes the shades?  Love them on her.
