Emma Stone in Hollywood

Posted on October 12, 2012

Darlings, we’ll do anything to put off writing a recap of the most boring episode in the history of Project Runway, so let’s all gaze lovingly at Miss Emma here, who’s working a geek chic look better than she has any right to.

‘The Amazing Spiderman’ star Emma Stone out and about in Hollywood.

Burberry ‘Orchard’ Bag

Maje Pamplune Leather-trimmed Wool Sweater

Adorable. Goofy-looking, but adorable.

She is totally adorable and I want that bag.  Great, now I have early morning purse lust.

    • I was about to write basically the same thing. The only thing I’d add, for my taste, would be a touch of colored lipgloss just to add a little color to her face.
And that baaag. Sigh. I have no budget for purses that cost more than a hundo, much less more than a grand.

      • filmcricket

Exactly what I was going to say, all of it. I have such lust for Burberry bags, but even at outlet prices they’d be too rich for my blood. Sigh.

        Emma is rocking those specs.

        • Me too….First thing I thought when I saw the bag was “NEED!”, a girl can dream….need the sweater too, some of us are preppy to the bone…..

      • librarygrrl64

I have seen quite a few reasonably-priced to cheap (Target) knockoffs of this type of bag. Go for it!

        • Hrm. Going through the Target website handbags, I haven’t found anything with quite as elegant a silhouette for my taste, but I saw more than a few Dooney & Burke “homages.”

          • librarygrrl64

Maybe it was Kohl’s or Ross or TJ Maxx. I looked at a metric shit-ton of handbags this weekend, trying to replace The Perfect Autumn Bag that I finally had to get rid of last year. Target does have some cute bags this season, though. Which is heartening, because the selection of clothing and shoes and bags/wallets in my five local Targets has been piss-poor lately. Seems like it’s gone sharply down hill in the past five years.

  • ms_kat

Who is the guy?  I was at Republic of Pie in North Hollywood, and feel like I saw him. Love the bag. Not so sold on the sweater.

    • gabbilevy

OMG DID SHE AND ANDREW GARFIELD BREAK UP Actually he’s cute. Wonder if they actually have chemistry?

  • OMG I love the bow tie attached to that sweater. it lifts the whole thing from bland and forgettable into interesting and fun.

    • call_me_schmeg

for real! this could be easily duped. now, where did i put my hot glue gun…

      • “With this inexpensive piece of black construction paper, and your hot glue gun, you can recreate Emma’s look, for pennies!!”

        •  I think you could get your own cable show!  I know I’d watch, glue gun and safety scissors in hand!

        • iheartbuffy

          minus the leather costs…

      • MilaXX

please Pinterest has dozens of postings on how to make that bow

      •  You’d fit perfectly on Season 9 of Project Runway!

      • librarygrrl64

Please tell me you’re kidding about the glue. 😉 Seriously, I could hand-sew something like this in about 15 minutes. And I think I will!

  • AnnaleighBelle

She looks so pretty and clean-faced.  Her features can really go overboard when she’s hit in the face with a palette.

    She’s put-together and comfortable…

  • Gorgeous bag! Not entirely convinced by the bow on her top though.

  • LadyCelia

    She looks wonderful like this.

  • SewingSiren

They way she is showing the bag is a too  little spokes model-ish , but the sweater, shoes , and glasses are as cute as a bug.

  • nannypoo

Is that a handler, or did she finally give up on Andrew Garfield and find herself someone hot? She looks adorable. So does he. And you are not kidding about PR. What a load.

    • Lori

Handlers don’t wear flip-flops, even in CA, so I assume he’s a friend, relative or Garfield replacement.

      • nannypoo

I’ll go with Garfield replacement. I guess if he was a handler and had to take down a paparazzo those flip-flops would be a handicap.

        • Do not underestimate the power of the chancla.  You can rip it off and hurl it like a ninja star, or you can choose to do hand-to-chancla combat with an opponent.  People have been laying the smack down with chanclas for generations.  Ok, maybe just Asian and Latin peoples, but that’s still a good chunk of humanity.

  • I love it.  Totally stealing the bow idea, since I probably can’t afford to bat an eyelash at that sweater.  Also, does her male friend look like a young Ryan Reynolds?

    • filmcricket

I was thinking “brunet Ryan Phillippe,” but Reynolds works too.

  • SewingSiren

PS all episodes of PR are entertaining if you drink enough absinthe. When I got home from Stan’s the dog was sending secret messages to me with his guilt inducing stare.

  • God, it was a boring episode, wasn’t it. I had a feeling they were just going to keep everyone. I went in a little drunk and couldn’t really be bothered to pay attention.

  • I want those glasses, they look like part of the Tom Ford line.

The guy is hot, yes, but the douche-flops MUST go. What happened to Andy G? Is the showmance over?

The sweater is giving me all kinds of knitting ideas for combining yarn and leath-uh. And yes to the bag.

    • ballerinawithagun

Those flip flops are the ones most guys wear in CA. They are leather and my husband says they are so comfortable, mold to your feet, and feel “warm”. I still hate them…

      • Celandine1

I hate those guyflops with a burning passion! Plus so many guys who wear them have nasty looking feet … would it kill them to get a pedicure or at least trim those nails evenly?

        • I hate to break it to you, but Rainbows have been around since the ’70s and they’re not going anywhere.  Ever.  They’re like Birks in that they last a million years and you can run in them.  And lots of people down here wear them, but they’re definitely an OC/San Diego thing.
That said, I’m all for destroying everything south of Long Beach in order to rid the world of 50% of the Rainbow infestation.  This should be done in summer to ensure that any college-aged vermin kids are home and not loitering around LA.

        • librarygrrl64

Yep, it’s not the flip-flops, it’s the feet. Janeane Garofalo has a really funny rant about men’s nasty feet in flip-flops, btw. 🙂

    • glennethph

Still together as of JustJared this week.

  • Perfect casual look!

  • Knightley

She’s almost like an American Female Doctor.  Or at least a Companion.  I approve.

    • Holly Kinnamont

OHHHH I want her to be a companion now. I know we have a super adorable companion on deck, but Emma Stone would be so great. I would watch an episode for, y’know, the TARDIS noise and Emma Stone’s facial expressions. Important parts of the episodes.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Super Cute!!   Who’s the guy?  He’s precious.

  • Is that her brother? I think it might be her brother…

  • HomeOfficeGirl

I think Andrew Garfield actually wore this outfit himself once.  She looks better.

  • zelavie

She looks so much like Michelle Williams in these pics (which is not a bad thing – I love them both!).  Super cute!

  • RzYoung

Menh, I actually don’t like this, I’m not sold on the bow and I’m getting a Swifty vibe…!

  • Athenrein

Take off the bow, shrink the glasses to a more reasonable size, and make the bag WAY cheaper, and that’s what I wear every day. She’s totally cute, though. Way cuter than I ever manage. Not fair.

  • DaveUWSNYC

    So is he.

  • skinny minny

  • lovelyivy

I know it’s not RC ready but IMO this is the best she has ever looked. This is not just cute and funky, it shows her personality and her style. I’ve always thought that her choices were trying too hard to be ‘edgy’- this just looks like who she is. And that bag is just
    amazing. LOVE this whole look.

    • pookiesmom

Eh, this seems as much (if not more) a costume as her regular digs. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s adorable, but she looks exactly like a costume designer’s representation of “hot dorky hipster chick.”

      • lovelyivy

Fair enough- I can see where you’d get eau do manic pixie dream girl from it. I just think she looks way more comfortable and natural than I’ve ever seen her, and it takes someone who is clearly gorgeous and makes her spectacular, even if it’s not formal and glam. Doesn’t hurt that I’d rock the hell out of every bit of it.

  • Tamara Hogan

For me, that outfit is all about the glasses. WANT.

    • MilaXX

I have a similar pair in tortoiseshell and now I want them in black. Zennioptical of course

      • shawnhunter

      • iheartbuffy

         Whiteout and Glare.

  • I love how she obviously has that bag jammed full of stuff. That’s not just a show bag!

  • Who is the man-candy?

    • hillmad

Yes, that’s what I want to know, too!

  • MilaXX

Love the whole look, but I would have worn a black flat.

    • Tamara Hogan

    • iheartbuffy

       double yes.

  • Katie Riley

Love that sweater. Need a cheaper version of it!

  • sweet_potato

I love the jeans, they are perfect.  The bag is great too, I would have chosen a different color though.

  • Love, love, love it all. ADORABLE!!!!!

  • So cute. Must find that sweater and similar frames.

  • DTLAFamilies

Love everything except the bow. Way too fucking twee even in black.

  • l_c_ann

About the repurposed bowling ball carrier:  all that wonderful carrying space is half wasted because if she were to open both zippers full way, half of her stuff would fall out.

Function matters in the real world, perhaps more than form.

She does look cute, but (again function matters) who wants to dry clean a black sweater everytime something non-black lands on it.  Leather as trim is only for the very, very wealthy.

  • She looks like the most hipster of all hipsters in the world.  Fake bow tie sweater. Big bulky glasses.  Never actually looking at the people taking her pictures.  Granted, it is a beautiful bag.

  • teensmom99

Emma Stone–just like the rest of us but thinner and with more expensive knock-about clothes.

  • PinkLemon

    I miss her red hair.

  • She looks adorable. And like she’s actually carrying her stuff in that bag.

  • Judy_J

I want that bow-tie sweater.  NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dot

All I care about is that bag. It’s incredibly beautiful, but it appears to be stuffed to the gills. I wonder at the volume of stuff she’s carrying around in a such a large bag! Overnight stay at immaculately tousled, flip-flop boytoy’s place?

  • mozzer0906

I need that bag in my life.  NEED.

  • She actually puts stuff in her purse. Novel idea. So sick of seeing photo ops with ginormous bags that are clearly empty.

  • :grabby hands:

Gimme that sweater!   Love everything, even the dorktastic glasses

  • ojosazules

    They are both adorable.

  • oatmealpie

I believe the word you’re looking for is “adorkable.”

  • Bowties are cool.

  • Pants_are_a_must

That is the cutest look. Kudos for going the extra Hollywood geek mile and not brushing her hair.

  • julnyes

Love everything about this outfit and I would buy that sweater in a heartbeat if I was the kind of person  to spend 300 dollars on a sweater.

  • tereliz

  • IAmJ

So adorable. Now I wanna be friends with her.

  • pookiesmom

    Who’s the fella?

  • iheartbuffy

Love the look, especially the leather bow-tie. S&M meets Geek Chic….

But I REALLY want to get her a hair stylist. Like really really.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

I wish her shoes were not so blah, but she looks so incredibly adorable that I barely care. The sweater fits her like a dream. If I didn’t love her already I’d be a goner after this.

  • This is the best on-the-street look all week, although the two-handed Here’s My Free Designer Bag pose is awkward.

  • Her man is HOT.

    • EEKstl

Did she and Andrew Garfield break up?

  • EEKstl

    LOVE her glasses.

  • Freakin’ adorable.

  • Jessica O’Connell

looooove it. and like many, i ask who’s the dude?

  • guest2visits

All cute but for the bland flats.

  • Myra C

Love her, love the shoes, love the bag.

  •  I think she looks great (and so does the man candy stage left)

  • Srw27

    OMG, that bag!  WANT

  • peacockprincess

Was going to buy that sweater for my daughter until I saw the price.  At 190 pounds, she will just have to do without.  Now if only I could justify spending $2,000+ on that handbag for me.

    • snarkykitten

just buy a black jumper and hot glue a novelty bow-tie to it

      • peacockprincess

But what if I burned by finger?  Oh the pain, the horror of it all!

(reference to Elena’s tragic hot glue gun encounter in case you don’t watch PR)

        • snarkykitten

better have the EMTs on standby!

    • TAGinMO

“At 190 pounds, she will just have to do without.”

For a couple of seconds there before it dawned on me that you’re probably from the UK, I thought you were the Worst. Mother. EVER.

      • peacockprincess

  • snarkykitten

    geek chic is an oxymoron

  • I believe the term you’re looking for is “adorkable”.

  • Trisha26

A modern-day Nancy Drew & friend absconding with the “secret will.” She’s so cute.

  • MarissaLG

This is very much how I see girls walking around here in NYC. All she needs is a top-knot and she’d fit right in!

  • glennethph

Andrew and Emma are still together as of 4 days ago.  lol

  • did she forget to comb her hair?  or did she or someone spend time and energy to make it look like that?  i just don’t get hair these days.

  • mmc2315

I like everything BUT the bow tie.

  • Qitkat

    I did not recognize her.
That is a great bag, but as she is using it, it is too lumpy. Makes it look frumpy.

  • Jennifer Coleman

Love it! She does casual on the street as good as the best of them. I hope one day she’s spotted walking around with Ewan MacGregor – then my world would be complete.

  • margaret meyers

That’s a cute two-legged accessory she has there.

  • boweryboy

It’s a cute look, if not a bit contrived.  I would love it even more if this nerdy cool look was her everyday dress down look, but still she looks hot.  She would fit right in with my lesbian rocker grrl-friends.

And her best gay guy pal is pretty cute too.  Don’t think they’re an item.  The body language speaks volumes.

  • Not crazy about the nerd glasses and the messy hair, and it looks like she’s trying a bit too hard to go for the whole nerd effect with the bow tie.  The bow tie would have been fine if she’d lost the glasses, run a brush through her hair, and done a little bit of makeup.  Everything else, I love – I’m crazy about that bag!

  • Do designers/stylists stage these “running errands” photo shoots?  They always have a ridiculously expensive bag on display, and a cute little item like a $300 sweater.  I mean, does Emma Stone have this on her calendar? “10 a.m.  Walk around in Maje sweater, Burberry bag, messy hair just so, cute guy.  Oh, glasses”  I’m seriously wanting to know.  Can somebody tell me how these things happen?  Is this really a routine part of these people’s lives?  Is this how they get free stuff.  Oy.

  • FourPointOhMyGracious

Pretty sure that’s her brother, Spencer.

    •  It’s like she hired some man candy!

  • librarygrrl64

I’m not a fan of pebbled leather, but I love the shape and size of that bag. Cute outfit overall; I would totally wear it! And, unlike hers, my specs are prescription. 😉

  • Michael Owens

Who is the yummy morsel she’s sporting as arm candy?

  • Lisa Do

This is so simple, but cute! And I absolutely love the bag <3

  • altissima

    That bag. I want it.
