Dianna Agron in Miu Miu

Posted on October 04, 2012

Oh, thank you Mr. Jesus for the Miu Miu show, because it provided us with a cornucopia of content for today. The ladystars showed up looking bright, colorful and retro-sassy in the Miu Miu mold. Let’s start off with Miss Dianna, who is serving up “1967 West German Flight Attendant” realness.

Dianna Agron attends the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2013 show as part of Paris Fashion Week in Miu Miu.

Work those spider lashes, girl!

We’re not super-crazy about those shoes being paired with this look, but it’s very much the Miu Miu style and you’ve gotta work the room according to the room’s expectations, amirite? In another setting, we might’ve dinged this look for skirting up to the costume-y side of things – especially the hair and eye makeup – but we don’t care. We gasped when we saw her. She’s demure in her style  – not just by Hollywood standards, but by real-world ones as well – and this is the direction she should go in to maintain that; she looks pretty, eye-catching and stylish and she still gets to remain pretty covered up.

  • I think my favorite part, aside from the absolutely PERFECT fit of her dress, is the gorgeous color of those tights.  What an inspired choice with what could have gone bland, really quickly.

    • NC_Meg

Yes! I need a pair of purple tights now.

      •  Amazing color. The brilliance of that shade, lifts the entire outfit.

        • it was a scroll-down gasp for me as well.  the tights plus the hair and makeup take the look from dowdy to chic in a hot flash!

          • Same here, LOVE the tights.  The shoes?  Not so much, but considering I was drooling over tights to purchase last night, this look has made my day.  Love the color, love the sheen.  Beautiful!  And that dress, I would wear it in a heartbeat.

    •  Agreed, I need to find those tights now..and maybe a dress in that color…and maybe the shoes…dammit..there goes my budget!

      •  May I direct you to sockdreams?  Its a web business for tights, hosiery and socks.  I get my kilt socks from them.

        •  Thank you, kind sir!! I’ll go and check them out!

        • mmc2315

          Oh!  Thanks for the tip!

        • Sartorial_She

Thanks for the rec. I just suddenly, inexplicably became obsessed with socks.

        •  Great site—thank you!  Wish I had known about it earlier this year when I was frantically searching for polka dot hose.  (Which I eventually found, but it wasn’t easy.)

    • Janet B

I would have never thought to put those tights with that dress and that’s why I’ll never be a stylist.

      • carpediva

Me neither! Though I’m an even more hopeless case because now having seen them together, I still never would! 🙂

    • MissAmynae

Very Twiggy/Mary Quant.  Love love love it.

  • SewingSiren

Wow. This almost looks like a vintage snap shot from the early 70’s . Complete with dark wood paneling background.

  • I saw this and the first thing that I thought was “personal best.”

  • I really like the color scheme of the hosiery and dress.  Those shoes —UGH!!

  • Sobaika

CUTE. She looks like she got dolled up for a Halloween party, but still. CUTE!

  • Not crazy about the shoes with those tights, but she looks amazing.

  • I saw photos of her sitting in the front row with a few other lady stars and it was surely a feast for the eyes.  I love the blue dress with the maroon hose, but I CANNOT sign off on open toed shoes with tights for anyone under the age of 80.  Otherwise, she looks fabulous.

  • I kind of love it.

  • MoHub

I think I had that dress in 1968, when I was in high school. But I do like the pairing with the tights. However, I think the shoes needed to be a sassy little skimmer, perhaps in silver.

  • fiestyfashionfem

She looks so pretty in this photo.  I wish I were about 15 years younger – I would rock that look.

  • Ali

LOVE this. Love the color combo, and I love how it’s fun but still respects her personal style/modesty. She needs to do more like this.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

1968. It was an orange dress and I looked great!

    • kategs

ditto on 1968!  Mine was canary yellow and worn with patent low heel pumps with clear heels also in yellow.

  • Introspective

this is her color and her dress!! tights are fab. the look overall is visually arresting. I dont know that many could pull it off without it seeming gimmicky. but on her it just works.

  • filmcricket

LOVE those shoes. Not sure if I like ’em with this outfit, but on their own they are fab. Love the hair and make-up, too. She really has a perfect face, doesn’t she?

  • ADORBS.

  • Please tell me she went on to sing Zou Bisou Bisou right after the photo was snapped.

  • AtticWife

The tights and shoes are in one of my favorite color combinations. I’ve got a pencil skirt in that exact blue, and a textured cardi in the exact color of the tights. This fair-skinned girl is in LOVE with this autumn’s gorgeous saturated jewel-tones.

    • MissAmynae

A-freakin-men!  between the oxblood, pumpkins and peacock blues, this is heaven!!

  • Judy_J

Cute dress, and I quite like the tights paired with the dress.  However, I’m with you on the choice of footwear.  I’m not a fan of open-toed shoes worn with hosiery.

    •  I don’t usually like it either, but here I think it works.

  • I love it!

  • dress_up_doll

Color! Glorious color! She looks fantastic and should wear these colors and adopt this retro-look more often.

  • Wendy Wetzel

She’s channeling her inner Twiggy…… (and a big NO to tights and any form of strappy shoe)

  • nannypoo

It’s costume-y and would look odd on anyone but a celebrity at a fashion event. In context, it’s adorable and she’s the person to wear it.

  • TomBord

    Is it Halloween already??

  • shes beyond adorable.

  • Kyle Crawford

Here’s the story, of a lovely lady, who was bringing up three very lovely girls, all of them had hair of gold, like their mother, the youngest one in curls – but you know, in a good way…..

  • afabulous50

OK – I’m not seeing what everyone else is..

    • l_c_ann

Too many memories of this silouette and collar and button size.  Tired memories override any cuteness.

    • mstzilla

I think this looks absolutely awful – I”m sure it’s because I’ve been there/done that (teenager in late 60’s/early 70’s). She’s a beautiful woman but the color and style make it look like a 70’s fast food uniform – yuck! I do like the plum tights – but not with those shoes.

  • EditKitten

    I think she looks awesome.

  • She looks adorable!

  • Hermione_Granger

    Love it.

  • She looks so stinking cute!

  • ojosazules

This is exactly the kind of dress that all the little hipster chickies that used to hang around my house in the nineties would have been so proud to find at the Goodwill. They were (preferably) polyester. I’m assuming this one isn’t? Their hair was usually leopard or blue, or something- not this ladylike perfection. It’s a little strange for me to see this look so tidied up.

  • RebeccaKW

I pretty much love everything about this.

  • Love it!! Perfect for Dianna, perfect for the venue.

  • We are just getting a whole lot of wonderful these last two days. What an amazing look – the tights, the hair, the make-up – and I love the shoes with the dress. It’s all working for me.

  • MilaXX

For her this is a WERQ. I think she looks great and I love the purple tights.

  • Jean Marie Downing

I really love Dianna’s style in general, which always reads to me as ‘ladylike’.   I love that she favors demur styles without tending to go in an aging and/or infantilizing direction.  Although it makes me wish she were still close with Lea Michelle if only for side by side comparison pictures.

    • sanja_ramic

I wholeheartedly agree, love that she seems to focus more on what she wants and what she feels comfortable in as opposed to trying to work the whole sexpot starlet thing so many others default to, Lea Michele being the obvious example.

  • kolokOlchik

  • Love. It. Except for the shoes. Seriously, what is with all the teal suede this season?

  • alyce1213

I HATE this dress.  Yet somehow, she looks great.  I wish she’d worn her hair less German flight attendant.

  • Anathema_Device

She looks really cute. I can’t totally get being sandals and tights, though.

  • SpcilK

She looks great. Love everything except the shoes.

  • Dot

Oh my. Total eye candy. I adore everything about this look, with the (slight) exception of the shoes.

  • Love that dress.  In fact, I think I owned a tan version of that dress in the 70’s.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She’s reminding me of Barbra Streisand in “On A Clear Day You Can See Forever” in the that outfit.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

She looks so fab it’s ridiculous. I want her shoes, my niece can have the dress. Brilliant choice to pair those plum tights with those two values of cerulean. Love the hair and makeup as well. She’s reminding me a little of late-90’s Kirsten Dunst. Like her poised little sister.

  • following in the footsteps of twiggy and owning it!

only problem is the color balance of the photo is atrocious.  her skin tone is cyanotic, call cardiology stat!  or just turn down the cyan saturation on your photoshop.

  • mjude

dear god i have been trying all moring to get on tlo’s blog. i hate when that happens.  love love the eye makeup

  • neofashionista

    LOVE it!

  • absolutely adorable

  • kalisa

I love it! Even though it looks like an old picture of my mom. You should’ve posted it with a white border with the date stamped in it.

  • DylanCurtis

I think the makeup killed it. Put it into early-Halloween “mod” costume.

  • This looks like someone from my junior high school and that was in the early 70s.

  • truthoid

She really does want to get on ‘Mad Men’, doesn’t she?

  • Those lashes are perfection, and I can’t imagine anyone else pulling this off without looking twee.  Well done, Miss Lady!

  • guest2visits

    I would like the dress as is, without the bright tights and suede platforms. I think it’s fun and retro as Dianna is wearing it;
but I think it’s chic enough to be worn even more simply, without the loud accessories. Love the hair and make-up too.

  • Allison Woods

To me, that is a WERK, actually.

*runs to Macy’s to see if they have purple tights*

  • Zippypie

It would be a WERQ with purple shoes to go with the tights and make a nice long leg line. The blue doesn’t work for me.  Love the dress though.  I dig sleek 60’s for sure!

  • amian3

Fabulous! I love the tights with open toe shoes, so 1960s or 20s. I hope this comes back–I am so sick of seeing bare legs everywhere.

  • Brava lady, you pretty! My only complaint is the lack of jewelry – a statement ring or bangle would elevated this to heroic.

  • TLo, will you write a post one of these days about hose/tights with open toe shoes?  I’m not sure when it’s okay, if ever, and would love your guidance on the matter.

  • Sarah Rinehart

i love this look… the colors are great. i want this outfit right meow.

  • L.

Love the dress, hair and makeup.  Would have loved some square, chunky, purple pumps instead of HOSE with SANDALS!

  • I had that dress in 1968 or so, in a peach color.  I think it had contrasting buttons, too.

  • Larkin21

Love her. Agree about the shoes. They aren’t my favorite but she really looks great. I prefer her brand of demure sweetness over Taylor Swift’s any day.

  • ChristinaRi

Isn’t this what TLo call “twee” when it’s on other actresses?

It’s way to cutesy for me, and the pale pink lipstick and nail polish underline the cuteyness.   How about some dark lips and nails to give this look a little bit of edge?

  • laurenoodle

LOVE this. I love how she wears clothes that are sweet and lady-like, but not saccharine and nauseating like Taylor Swift. I love these colors. I have tights that color. I love this 60’s style. I love that hair and makeup a lot, I will copy it.

  • PhillipWilde

It’s twee as fuck, but it totally works.

  • librarygrrl64

Despite the crazy lashes, I really love this, especially on her. She has a young Hitchcock-era Tippi Hedren vibe that works for these 60s-inspired looks.

  • kathrineb

Gorgeous! Totally biased when it comes to looks like this. LOVE IT!
