Chloë Moretz in Antonio Berardi

Posted on October 16, 2012

Chloe Moretz hangs on to our every word. It’s true.

We said the other day that the outfit she was sporting was too fierce and too severe for someone her age. Her response to us? “FINE, bitches. I’ll wear something cute. HAPPY NOW?”

Yes, Chloe. Yes, we are. Run along and play with your friends, now.

Hey, is it wrong of us to be excited for the Carrie remake? The DePalma original is a masterpiece (nothing will ever top the editing on the gym sequence), but Chloe as the little telekinetic psychopath with Julianne Freaking Moore as her religious nut mother? We are SO THERE.

Funk that. I ain’t watching no Carrie remake.

      • Sobaika

Neither am I. The Julianne Moore casting makes it a bit interesting, but I really need there to be a weekend where I can go to a movie theater and see something good that is not a remake or sequel.

    • Judy_S

She does look cute (a word I did not dare use of my daughter when she was that age) in a perfectly sophisticated way. Is there a problem with her eye makeup? She appears to be squinting. And a bit hunchy.

      • kimmeister

She always looks squinty.  I think it’s because her face always defaults to some level of duckface for photos.

      • kschwarting

I think the problem with her eye makeup is that there’s just so damn much of it.

I like the skirt and the shoes, but the shirt and jacket are not OK with them, even if that is how they were designed.

    • RocknRollmom

Something about this child just bugs me.  Not sure why.  BUT those sandals!!!!  Wow.  Just wow.

      • LLuL

For me it’s her smize. Looks like she watched an ANTM marathon before she hit the red carpet.

    • clatie

To me, this oufit looks like it was chosen at random.  I guess I like the pieces but, together?  WHAT?

    • kimmeister

The sandals are all kinds of fun!

    • Trisha26

It needs a belt…I think. And different shoes. Looks cutish on the model, but I hate that overly flared skirt. She’s 15 but his looks like a 5 year-old’s outfit. (Minus the black jacket of course).

    • TieDye64

Dayum, those shoes! Overall it is a cute look, but not sure about the blouse. It looks like it belongs with another outfit.

    • hughman

What I wouldn’t give to see Chloe wear Raja’s Carrie outfit from “Drag Race” on the RC.

    • DylanCurtis

I think the jacket is making her look kind of boxy. And she tends to wear too much makeup but I did too when I was her age so I won’t judge too much.

    • Qitkat

Without a waistband, that skirt looks just like a lampshade.

      • ballerinawithagun

You are right. I couldn’t figure out exactly what was bothering me.

    • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

      Love those shoes.

    • Unvacuous

With the collar buttoned up like that it makes it look like she has no neck, and the shoulders too boxy.  Shoes are great though.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I don’t like this outfit, at all.  And the shoes deserve a better ensemble.

“Carrie” is being remade?!?  Is nothing sacred?

      • IMNAngryLiberal

No, nothing is sacred …. they are remaking Manimal for god’s sake!  (Non-nerds on the board can just skip over that comment.)

      • MoHub

The question is whether the way she “takes care’ of her mother will be restored to the way King wrote it or remain as DePalma reimagined it.

    • MilaXX

      much better Chloe

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1677420035 Nicole Seligman

i’ve always liked to believe she’s one of the starlets that *does* religiously read TLo.

    • http://ldvfashionfix.com/ LDVBLOG

I’m in love with the skirt and the heels…

    • Pants_are_a_must

Oh my god! She’s not Blue Steeling! IT’S A MIRACLE!

    • Call me Bee

I’m torn.  Usually reboots of classic movies turn out to be awful (save forthe endless incarnations of A Christmas Carol.) But Julianne Moore as Crazy Mom??!?  That may be a can’t-miss event.
Oh–Chloe looks cute. But those shoes are wearing her. They are a lot to handle.

      • MoHub

My issue with the shoes is that all the youngsters seem to be wearing styles appropriate to someone at least 10 years older, taking them from part of an outfit into “dress-up” territory. I really want to see these young kids in kicky flats or—at most—little kitten heels.

    • nannypoo

      So cute.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I’m there. Anywhere for Juli Mo.
Love this outfit – very cute and even chic.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Those shoes are amazing. The rest of the outfit – I think she’s too short-waisted to pull it off, to be honest.

    • margaret meyers

This is making her look so short-waister, MajorBedhead!  Wouls a narrower kirt or trousers have saved this look?  I like the blouse and jacket, but that skirt looks like a middle school sewing project.

    • mayavaly

I love the outfit. Just not on her.

    • quiltrx

Yes, when I found out that Julianne was going to be the mom, I about peed my pants!  If anyone can play the cray, I’m counting on her.

And those shoes are fierce, but I don’t think they quite ‘go’.

    • annie_wonder

It looks great in the model photo but totally disproportionate and thrown together on Chloe, she’s far too little for it. I’m guessing it would look much cuter without the jacket.

    • B_C_J

This outfit makes her look short, stocky and boxy.  It is doing absolutely nothing for her silhouette. As compared to the model, Ms. Moretz does not possess the length of torso to be able to carry off the jacket. On the model the jacket hits right at the waistline. On Ms. Moretz the jacket clearly hangs far below and gives her a very monolithic look.

    • http://twitter.com/Lily1129 Wednesday Addams

She always looks SO uncomfortable in pictures. It might just be a teen thing, growing into her body, but it takes away from how cute she usually looks. Also, the duck face is nhft

    • galcurly

This outfit simply does not work.   The proportions are all wrong on her — and makes her look like she has no neck whatsoever.  The skirt is sitting way too high on her and flaring out too much.  Also, any outfit that needs that jacket cannot be paired with those shoes.  That said, I love the shoes.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

I don’t know. She looks so stiff and uncomfortable. That button-down neck looks like its choking her.

    • MarissaLG

I haaate those shoes but I think it’s a cute outfit. I agree with everyone else that it’s not a great fit for her- maybe it would have worked with a belt? Not sure.

    • http://twitter.com/WhitneyBarkley Whitney Barkley

Y’all, Chloe Moretz is going to be a HUGE star. That kid’s got talent and style in spades.

As long as she doesn’t go the Lindsay Lohan route.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

That outfit is disgraceful; especially the cardboard skirt.

    • jw_ny

She looks cute enough, but Chloe always looks like she has no neck.  The shoulder pads on the jacket and buttoned up collar don’t help.

    • granddelusion

      Meh. Hate the shoes.

    • LeifBallard

Waist up CUTE, waist down disaster!

    • PeaceBang

Oh no, another chapter in “Chloe Moretz and the Unnecessary Re-makes.” She was okay as the vampire in “Let Me In,” but the Swedish original was soooo much better, and just brilliant. That’s a really cute outfit but the intense jacket and the sandals – especially the sandals — just seem TOO. DAMNED. OLD for her.

    • snarkykitten

      …those clothes don’t go together

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

NOOOOO remakes of movies that were classics the first time around!!!  And those shoes are ugly.

    • guest2visits

Aw shucks Miley; young girls by the score have shown more good taste, elan, and playfulness with their entries into fashion, and with a
fraction of your budget in their pockets.  And so many haven’t had the provenance of growing up in the business either, with a lifetime
in the industry to inform and educate.  Sorry, I don’t see the rebel or the moxy it takes to go nearly naked before the public at large.
Thats old.  So many young girls and women have finally realized they don’t need to express themselves in terms that include short, shiny,
and tight.    Just ask Chloe, Hailee, Emma, Kiernan, Elle, Gabby …..
(As for this page; I’m kind of if-y on the skirt, love the shoes and everything else.)

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I think the proportions are all wrong.

    • Candigirl1968

      Too much shoe.
