Ashley Greene on Conan

Posted on October 09, 2012

Is it weird that we shouted “YES! THANK YOU, ASHLEY GREENE, THANK YOU!” when we saw these pictures?

Well, who cares what you think anyway? What’s weird is how rare it is to see a gorgeous young ladystar put on the pants for a sitdown.

Ashley Greene makes an appearance on ‘Conan’ to promote her movie ‘Butter’ in a jumpsuit by The Reformation paired with Christian Louboutin shoes.

The Reformation ‘Luigi’ Jumpsuit

Here is a prime example of how style is so mutable depending upon the situation. We wouldn’t normally shriek our hosannas over a jumpsuit. Nothing particularly wrong with this one, but generally speaking, we’re not fans of them. It’s an item .01% of the population can credibly pull off. Fortunately, Ashley’s part of that .01% (bitch). But even so, it’s refreshing to see a starlet sit down on a talk show without going all gynecological on us. And doesn’t she look amazingly relaxed and comfortable? No furtive adjusting when she thinks the camera’s not on her, no hand clamped to her thigh through the entire interview in fear that her skirt will ride up further. Just a gorgeous gal in a simple jumpsuit and a kickass pair of shoes, sitting back and chatting with Conan.

Ladystars, you really must start wearing more pants.

My god, I am jealous of her ability to pull off a backless jumpsuit.

      • kimmeister

I hope she didn’t lean back into the chair wearing that.

           Ask Fergie about that.

that is the second strike against jumpsuits other than them being incredibly unflattering on most women – you need to almost completely undress to take a whiz.

        • bellafigura1

Who cares?  She looks fantastic, and peeing — she’ll figure that out, we women are VERY resourceful.

      • 3boysful

It’s sleeveless and backless, so relatively easily taken off and little to fall into the potty.

      • BrooklynBomber

Imagine you’re wearing a one piece bathing suit and it’s time to pee (or, whatever). You go into the ladies’, enter a stall, close the door (be sure to flip the lock!), and hang your towel on the hook (remember, you’ve just got out of the pool). Now, take down one strap of your suit at a time, then peel the entire suit down until you are naked enough (don’t let the suit fall on the floor!). Sit on the toilet. Use your regular peeing muscles to pee.

Now, substitute jumpsuit for swimsuit (just take a little extra care so the hem doesn’t pool on the floor,), and substitute handbag for towel. Other than that, follow the instructions above.

        • Louise Bryan

What the world needs is drop seat bathing suits and jumpsuits!

          • Alloy Jane

Maybe, but can a butt-flap be considered “chic”?  Maybe Comme des Garçons will provide…

        • 3boysful

I’m not sure which is worse–a full-out jumpsuit with appendages that want to fall into the toilet, or trying to peel off a wet bathing suit, and then trying to get said wet suit back on!  (I’m a tankini fan for this very reason.)

    • Judy_S

      Yes–a jumpsuit. Not a jumper.
She looks great, as well as wearing an appropriately labelled garment.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Beautiful!!!  Brava!!!

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I would suppose she stopped drinking anything 2 hours before getting dressed.  Seems safer that way to me, anyway.

    • altalinda

She looks like she’s cold.  But, yes, you’re right.

    • foodycatAlicia

I’m giving her an 85% – but it’d be 95% if her hair had a bit of wave to it!

    • Susi R

She looks amazing! I love it!

    • Trisha26

Micros, minis, dresses, gowns, all have their issues – but even in the most pristine lady’s room on the planet you wouldn’t want to be wearing a jumpsuit. Just ewwwh. She does look nice & comfortable. Still ewwwh.

      • filmcricket

True, but as we know from the famed “Letterman dumpster photos” she probably didn’t wear this into the studio & could have used the restroom before changing into the jumpsuit. Just another reason celebrities are different from us mere mortals.

In other news, her arms are amazing and I’m jealous.

    • MilaXX

Gorgeous look o a gorgeous gal.

    • LLuL

Maybe she reads your blog. I bet she read the discussion on Rebel Wilson and was all, “Oh hell, I’m just gonna wear this jumpsuit.”

      • LLuL

Meant to add that she looks great.

    • Emily Smith

40 layers of makeup so i show up on television.  lol’ed.  ginger problems *fist bump*

      • susan6

I wonder how much makeup Conan wears…..

    • marlie

One of the rare times where I thought that a jumpsuit was a perfect outfit for someone!

    • Vanja

It’s nice to look at a relaxed looking woman wearing some nice clothes, instead of looking at shiny legs, bare arms and a deep décolleté.

    • charlotte

I salute her for wearing pants, but other than that she looks very 90s to me. The spaghetti straps, the sleek hair, the dark lipstick…

    • NurseEllen

One of the few who not only looks good in a jump suit, but also looks good with center-part straight hair.  She would have fit right in in the ’60s.

    • mjude

when the jumpsuit is right i love it.  her shoes are quite fab.

      • Introspective

exactly. my irrational hatred of jumpsuits gets totally rational when the woman whos rocking one looks fab and proves why the rest of the world looks jacked up in them…

    • kittenwithaquip

Thus far I’m the only one thinking, “Who cares about Ashley Greene when Timothy Olyphant is right there?” Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

    • Judy_J

I like this jumpsuit because it doesn’t scream “JUMPSUIT!”  She looks great, and it is perfect for sitting and chatting with your host.  And those are kickass shoes.

    • sk8tfan

love her hair like that. Not everybody can rock the flatiron look. She does, IMHO

    • CozyCat

I think all the concern about the practicality of this particular jumpsuit in the ladies’ room is misplaced.  It wouldn’t be difficult at all to get out of this one when necessary.

It’s a great look for being filmed while you’re sitting.  I hope she did a nice spin on her way to the seat so everyone could see the back.

    • PrunellaV

Simple, elegant and beautiful. I’m impressed.

    • Rand Ortega

Very slinky. Makes quite the entrance. Kudos for wearing something sexy she doesn’t tug on through the whole interview.

    • Janet B

      Well done.

    • ojosazules

      Love it.

    • Dagney

I must have that in my closet NOW.

    • StellaZafella

She’s relaxed, comfortable, animated and can kick up a foot to show off her killer shoes…+100 points.

As for pantsuits: If you can wear ‘em, wear ‘em and rock the hell out of the fact that you can! If you don’t like what you’re in for when you put on a one-piece clothing choice, don’t do it…problem solved.
I for one wouldn’t have made it through a lot of years tending bar without pantsuits…when the top is attached to the bottom and everything fits right, you don’t worry so much about moving around, bending, sitting, etc…because everything stays where it started out.

      • Alloy Jane

This is a great concert outfit for the daring and fashionably capable classical musician.  Perfect cello/bass pants.

    • Tatiana Luján

I don’t like those shoes or the flat ironed hair, but she looks confortable and sensible.

    • Monday1900

I have no idea who the hell she is but she looks fantastic (and I hate jumpsuits!)

    • macarthurpark

I’ve read here every day, but this is my first time commenting…I’ve had to come out of lurker-dom to ask, what’s the big deal with Ashley Greene? It seems like T&L feature her disproportionately given her style chops or fame quotient, and on top of that, I can’t ever remember them coming close to saying something even remotely critical of her. Am I missing something about a starlet who seems to defer to boring and black most of the time?

    • guest2visits

This does look very nice on her and it has the advantage that most jumpsuits don’t – it has no back to pull mercilessly from all
directions when sitting. Or reaching. Or bending. Or walking. Or doing anything other than standing still.  The pants portion of this
jumpsuit is completely free to slide up or down or even side to side since it’s hardly attached to anything.
But apart from the fact that no one likes wearing a onesy (even children will try to squirm out of them); this particular ‘jumpsuit’
means you’ve got to be perfectly fine going about nearly naked up top. I think jumpsuits are a ridiculous idea but this was a garment
perfectly suited for the occasion and the person wearing it.

    • Lisa Dugan

Smart smart smart!!!!  She looks great as always.

    • Lisa

She looks perfect!  I think the lady stars really DO need to give pants a whirl once in a while – look at how fabulously she pulled this off!

    • unbornfawn

Wow! She looks fabulous for this situation. Your eye goes right to her face, which is exactly where it should go! You WERQ that talk-show look girlfriend!

    • formerlyAnon

God bless you, Ashley Greene and The Reformation. You have sent me straight back to the Charlie Girl glamour of the ’70s, a long-legged, wide-pants glamour I am genetically incapable of achieving, but this is So Much Better Done than the weak imitations I’ve seen in many collections in recent years.

    • quiltrx

Were I someone that people gave two shits to see on television, I would always go for the ladypants for sit-down gigs.  Just easier!

    • PeaceBang

The top is great, too. Sexy, yet no chance of accidental Cleavage Overdose. The shoes are totally, totally KILLA.

    • Ceur

This girl is my [insert the opposite to the classic irrational hate celebrity]. I have no idea why I like her, because I’ve never seen her in anything, and her look is not one I would normally fall for. I guess she just always look put together and comfortable at the same time, adding to being extremely photogenic.

    • hailtree

When I saw her on Conan, I said, “T&Lo will have a say on her oufit.”
      Sure enough, there was.:)

btw, i thought she was wearing separates.

      snaps for Ashley.

    • Molly

I’m much more interested in that delicious piece of man to her right.

      • Jennifer Coleman

Siiigh. Timothy Olyphant. Loved him since Deadwood. He gives a pretty funny interview here, too.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

That hair, is just no.  But I love the rest of it.

    • Cathy S

I love that. She looks fabulous.

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

      Smashing and chic!

    • B_C_J

      sleek, sophisticated, effortless….well done!

    • allisankelly

she is a very beautiful girl. i wish i could get my brows to look that good.

    • BeaDee

I’m just glad to see her out of DK. She’s a lovely “style ambassador” or whatever it is, but it was getting a little old.

    • Mary229

I love the jumpsuit but I find her face really unappealing.  She doesn’t come off warm or something.  I can’t figure out what it is.

    • EEKstl

I agree.  I actually think it’s a Sit Down WERQ.

    • mmc2315

      Chic as hell.

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    • JMansm

I like her hair a lot but it also looks a little fried, no?

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She looks lovely.  Just lovely.  And the comment about not having to furtively pull down her dress is EXACTLY right.  When that happens, it completely distracts from the person and what they are talking about.  And isn’t it a TALK show?
