Amanda Seyfried in Miu Miu

Posted on October 04, 2012

Rounding out our colorful Miu Miu coverage for the day is Miss Amanda, who is serving up “fierce bitch” on a silver platter.

Amanda Seyfried attends the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2013 show as part of Paris Fashion Week in a Miu Miu pantsuit paired with a Prada bag and shoes

Miu Miu Fall 2012 Collection Pantsuit. Prada Fall 2012 Bag and Shoe.

You might ask, “But T Lo, Miss Amanda looks so ferocious here that I don’t understand why you are not snapping your fingers and shouting at her to WERQ it. Why, T Lo, why?”

We’re glad you asked that, imaginary reader. You see, while just about everything here is working like gangbusters, the fact that she is sporting lipstick that matches her shoes is making our eyes twitch. The further fact that said lipstick makes her look like she just sucked on 3 grape popsicles in a row only furthers our resolve to withhold our snaps.

and it aaallll comes crumbling down at the lipstick. SO CLOSE, AMANDA. for shame.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/KBNJ6GJTXYEE6BON3WGK6KEGT4 Elizabeth

Very astute, Gentlemen. Almost A WERQ in my book except for those hideous lips. She looks undead. Great little outfit, however.

    • http://twitter.com/maggie162 Maggie

Looks like Kate Winslet’s makeup at the end of Titanic when she’s almost frozen to death.

      • AthenaJ

Agreed! That lipstick with her paleness automatically made me think corpse… though a well-dressed one.

    • Sam Corbett

I get the criticism, but I have to say, she has such an odd (though beautiful) face that I almost think she carries it off.

      • gabbilevy

        Agreed.

        • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I agree also – her lips look beautiful in the close up, as does her makeup and hair.  She has the lips older women pay money to try to get.  Try.  Not succeed, but try.

      • mjude

thank you!  i really like the look.

      • eruannalle

Totally agree, her face is so strangely lovely that it all just works, even though on paper it sounds like it shouldn’t. Love the look, lipstick and all.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Maya-KC/537771651 Maya KC

I agree. The lipstick is working with her eyes in an odd but striking way. And Amanda Seyfried’s look is all about the eyes.

    • shirab

She should have been in the hair product ads from that earlier post, not Katy Perry. No need to cover her mane w/wigs.

      • NC_Meg

That’s the first thing I noticed. Gorgeous hair.

    • stubbornthoughts

Well played, T Lo. I just don’t understand the clunky, hoof shoe trend. Why do women want their feet to look like they went shopping in a centaur’s closet?

      • littlemac8

Snort, I’m pawing the ground with my little cloven hoof!

    • lehen

im gonna have to disagree here – i think the lipstick makes the look super edgy.  i wouldn’t like it with a normal “pretty girl” look, but it works here for me.

      • tereliz

The shoes are the thing I’d swap out of this outfit, not the lippy. Edgy is just what this pantsuit needed and I think Seyfreid brought it! Love the bag!

      • Sobaika

I like the lipstick a lot on her, tres chic. Just not with that outfit.

        • muzan-e

Likewise. Other than slightly twitching over the cool-red vs warm-red dissonance, and heck, maybe it’s deliberate to break up the suit’s overwhelming warmth -

It’s nice to see a reminder that the very pale can indeed rock a dark lip – come Autumn, at least.  I may have to break out the slightly-blue contacts just to give this colour a try…

          • j_anson

I see what you’re saying, but it’s not working for me. There’s too big of a dissonance – cool from the neck up and warm from the neck down. Makes her face look oddly dark and grungy. Maybe if she had the cool lips and some touches of warmth elsewhere in her makeup.

    • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

Subtract the Minnie Mouse shoes and this might be a WERQ for me. The lip color’s not an everyday shade, but it’s a fun one to try, especially when you’re working a fierce face and that terrific reverse Cruella de Vil  hair stripe.

      • Araina23

I agree.  The lipstick’s statement making and it does great things for her.  She should’ve switched to shoes that didn’t match the lipstick, not  the other way around.

        • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Agreed.  I love the lipstick, but those shoes are heinous.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=713709401 Randy Noak

Nope. You’re wrong. Love the lipstick. La la la la la. I can’t hear you. La la la la la.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I, for one, happen to like grape Popsicles, so I’m willing to let that go. To me, this is damned near a personal best for her.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bodi-Sattva/100003175612279 Bodi Sattva

Agreed!  I’m in thrall with her hair as well.  Beautiful!

    • LauraWL

I love this lip colour for autumn (I was a teenager in the 90s though, so deep purple lipstick with also be an “in” for me). I think she looks spectacular. I might have to mix mauve lipstick with a bright red top or pants in the near future. Never would have thought to do that.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

I was in grad school in the 90s, and I still wore purple lipstick! So I have a certain affinity for it as well.

      • NC_Meg

I was a kid in the 90s and saw all the older girls wearing purple lipstick. I was SO ENVIOUS. I thought it was so cool.

    • hughman

She looks like that Junior Account Exec who only eats Greek yogurt and prints out name labels for hers before she puts it in the company fridge and will cut you if you so much as touch one.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1629311043 Marjean Fieldhouse

seconds on the Jr Account Exec description. The jacket is ill fitting and she looks severely thin. Sorta looks like a pants suit my mom would have worn to work in the late 70s

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I’m not in love with the lip color (but I don’t hate it either), and otherwise I think she looks great.

And those shoes only work AT the show; I can’t see anyone wearing them in the real world.

    • http://heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com Vivi N

I think she looks fantastic! Dark lipstick matching with her dark shoes and all!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

The lighting in there is horrible.

    • muzan-e

The lipstick is killing me. Not because it matches the shoes (which is bizarre), but because it’s a cool aubergine lipstick against a warm red suit. Really? Why?

Except that she’s Cle de Peu this year, and the lips look at least similar to the pretty aubergine from their new Fall collection. Obviously, I’m with the rest of the 99% in not exactly having one at hand to check for sure.  *g*

      • MilaXX

Been wanting to get one of their lippies, but can’t allow myself to plunk down the cash for it when I have a zillion tubes/shades

    • GorgeousThings

I am so with you on that lipstick. Ick!

    • http://www.facebook.com/aboutelle Ashleigh Boutelle

I was gonna say, “too bad about the purple lipstick”. It makes her gorgeous pale complexion a little blue and dead-ish

    • Anathema_Device

Thank you for this public service message, T Lo. I have been shopping around for purple lipstick, totally forgetting that with my coloring (fair skin, dark hair), it makes me look like Elvira, Mistress of the Night.

She is rocking that suit, though, and I do love purple with red, so the shoes work great.

    • Introspective

Red brings out the best in most women. This is no exception. Grape lips and hoof shoes notwithstanding she is serving it.

    • nannypoo

She often gets the lipstick wrong. I don’t like the rest of her makeup here either.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think this suit would have looked better with flats or low heeled boot.

    • holzfaellen

I love the lipstick. Gives it some extra “fuck you”-attitude.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=18800610 Mando Kelly

90′s power suit. That jacket’s fit is off. Not feeling it.

      • kimmeister

The jacket is so long, it covers the crotch!  That’s what bothers me.

    • Judy_J

Yes, the pantsuit is fabulous, her hair looks terrific, and I like the shoes with the pantsuit.  But that lipstick!  Holy crap….it’s so unflattering.

    • MilaXX

      WANT. THAT. BAG.

I agree the lipstick was a step too far. Especially since she could have just as easily rocked a red lip. Still I don’t think it’s and awful look and would have still given her a WERQ.

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

love everything except the lipstick, since colors like that make us pale girls look like a corpse on law & order: svu. take it from someone 2 shades paler than you, amanda: add a bit of red to that purple. it’ll liven you up a bit.

    • DominoEstella

      Agreed, that lipstick is repulsive

    • Janet B

Again with the purple and Miu Miu.  I think she looks very chic.

I think I have some popsicles in the freezer, if I do I’m going to have a grape one.

    • http://twitter.com/meredeth_gwyn Meri

This suit reminds me of Madame Mao. Communist China all the way, weird neckline.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

      Grape popsicles, LOL!  Agreed, TLo!

    • Vanja

That’s a nice suit. although I wonder if Amanda is wearing a different shade of red than the model. I like the lipstick, but the shoes are peculiar ugly.

    • Sara__B

I’ll never be a fan of suit jackets with nothing visible underneath.  And the lipstick is awful.

    • Timea Krajcovicova

The lipstick is like an arrow in the eye and the shoes make me cringe. The suit looks fantastic on her, though.

    • carolynmo

I would have withheld the WERQ on the purse. But that’s just me.

    • Monabel

      You’re so strict.

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Yeah, the chola lipstick really kills this WERQ in the way Diana’s shoes killed hers.  That lip color makes her look like a Bratz doll.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

i love the shoes to everlovin death. i loved this whole collection, actually.
then again, eh, could do w/o the purse. that may be cos i have to be efficient w/ my pocketbooks, though, & those keep in hands go irritating quite quickly.
nobody else will agree w/ me [thats okay] but i love the lipstick. it reminds me of some nars thing–fire down below, maybe?–but not quite. it’s probably something newer anyway.

oh people, people, jackets look better w/ shirts beneath them. the rule probably should be: if thirty odd years ago a punkrocker thought it was too silly & not risqué enough to be worn, it’s probably too silly & not risqué enough to be worn now.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

      SHOE HATE.

    • leftcoastpickle

      Pfft. She looks fantastic. WERQ.

    • oatmealpie

Those are some clunky horse-hoof shoes she’s got there.

      • l_c_ann

Horses wear their hooves with more grace and better stability.

    • frannyprof

      Her lips are frightening.

    • http://twitter.com/hurricaneemilyy Emily Shaver

I liked the lipstick!! Personally I thought it was bold and very Miu Miu

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

But she looks better than the model!

      Come one! One snap, please

    • RebeccaKW

Thank you!  My first thought when I saw this was “This is so fier-what the hell is that on her lips?”  It’s nice to know I have (some of) the same thoughts as T-Lo.

    • Margaret Covert

I flove.  im snapping over here.  get it miss lady!!

    • Call me Bee

Fierce is correct. Except for ugly, clunky shoes (apparently Mui Mui suits attract horrible shoes…) and ugly, aging lipstick. Oh well…

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I give the lip color a pass, because I can’t stop staring at those dreadful shoes.

    • jilly_d

that’s actually a great lip color on her.  just not with that suit.  or those shoes.

    • Dagney

oh you guys take your damn Midol.  This is a WERQ and you know it.

      • mhleta

        Yeah!

    • truthoid

      Do her lips have gangrene?

    • Samuel Donovan

      Dana Scully REALNESS.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

yep, the lipstick blows it.  and it’s made worse by the off balance color of the photo, just like the one of dianna agron at the miu miu show, there’s too much blue.  use your photoshop for good for a change, and turn down that cyan, whoever puts these images out on the wires.

    • melanie0866

It’s also kinda boring.  Like, I might wear that to work.  She should have worn the blouse, or the scarf, or something.

    • jahphotogal

Just watched Mean Girls. she was so adorable! Here, scary skinny.

    • mhleta

Oh, hell yes to all of it, my dear. And brava for the bad-ass shade of lipstick. Any other shade would have been too tame or too matchy.

    • granddelusion

And those shoes are mighty ugly all by themselves.

    • littlemac8

Heck, I’m really off the mark!  I thought TLo were going to compliment her for not matching her lipstick to her pantsuit!  Boy, was I wrong!

    • http://twitter.com/flo_whytingale Florence Whytingale

I’m not a fan, I think the suit looks kinda ill-fitting and the lipstick is horrifying on several levels. I’m bummed you didn’t feature Ms Stone, I thought her look was pretty killuh at this show – the purse was to die for.

    • guest2visits

I think that purple and that red are a style theme for Miu Miu. It’s all over their stuff.  She looks fantastic; not being eaten alive
by the overpowering pieces of the collection, – but holding onto the feel of it and making it her own.

    • Qitkat

That swish of deliberately dark hair is what’s making my eyes twitch.

    • luciaphile

The suit is killer but she’s so pale she looks like she’s auditioning to be a vampire on True Blood.

    • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

I didn’t know she could do edgy and fierce as well as cuddly and adorbs! Rock on, Amanda! I say it’s a full-on WERQ.

    • bellafigura1

You are wrong.  She is perfection, and all grown-up, and deserves Z-formation snaps in both directions, up and down.  Whoa.

    • MissAnnieRN

Holy Popsicles sticks I love that bag! Be right back. Searching for a 3rd job so I can afford it.

    • Lisa Kramp

I like the lipstick…it’s in keeping with the Miu Miu aesthetic. Sorry boys, I’ll do the snaps for you.

    • mayavaly

I’m usually apprehensive about breaking down the funky looks because their werq-ability is typically fairy precarious once you start picking. In general, I applaud any of these women who go out there and try something a bit different (I mean, I take this over Lea-fuck-me-chelle any day). But it’s the hair. The hair will let the amateurs down every time. This still says ‘every sorority sister in America’ to me. A masterful coloring job, but get rid of 4″ and lay off the hot rollers if you’re really going to do this right.

    • Trisha26

Is it the camera angle or why does the jacket look like a different fabric than the pants? Much prefer the model’s fabric & color – the lipstick might have even worked with that!

    • DeGuz

Gotta disagree TLo. This is a WERQ in my book!

    • allisankelly

I was sort of “ok, whatever” with the horrendous shoes until I realized they matched her lips. Yikes!

    • MarissaLG

These photos don’t read fierce to me at ALL. Her weave looks great though.

    • Sarah Rinehart

      i need that suit. pronto.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=122613264 Carly Warnock

I love it and I think the shoes and the lips aren’t quite a match. Also her hair looks gorgeous.

    • Corazon Nunez

      Oooh, that makeup is creepy.

    • MaryAtRealityTea

I’m pretty sure Mrs. Prada herself, holding me down and shoving my feet into them, couldn’t make me wear those shoes. Oh sweet Jesus U-G-L-Y… they ain’t got no alibi!

    • Alyssa Shevchuk

      Oh come ON.

    • ThaliaMenninger

I’m down with everything but the shoes. HAAAAATE.

    • unbornfawn

      Fabulous!

    • crash1212

I love this look…until you hit the shoes. Seriously ugly shoes. Seriously. Otherwise – snaps up.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

I agree about the lipstick. Everything else is fierce.

    • Reneesance

I kind of love the lipstick, seriously love.  But then I’m known to channel my inner goth child who would have been all over this a decade ago ;)

    • neofashionista

      loathe the lipstick! offensive!

    • Kolo_Ol

the first picture looks like a Miu Miu ad :)

    • kategs

I too, think it works and just on her.  But maybe it’s because my pants were always too short while growing up that I wish hers were about one inch longer.

    • Jean Albus

      Bah. The lipstick is stylin’.

    • LinXGUA

      Those are some horrifying shoes.
      The rest, i like it.

    • ChristinaRi

Oh, you all are so wrong about the lipstick!

I love it.  I love it that she didn’t just do the expected “red lip” that we see constantly.  If it were not for this lip color the look would be safe and expected and not have 1/2 of the power that it has.

Also, fabulous hair — it’s clean and brushed and manages to escape the cocker spaniel look.

    • http://twitter.com/ms_smartiepants Beth Mellone

This is a total WERQ from where I’m standing. The lipstick and shoes reroute this look from stewardess to goth-girl and I love it. Now where can I buy some purple lipstick?

      • kschwarting

MAC makes a purple lip gloss that is pretty close to this shade.  I think it’s called “Dark as Night” or something to that effect…although the last time I wore it, someone did ask if I’d been eating a grape popsicle.

    • m0r0

Love the lipstick. Used to wear it myself. Think she looks FAB. Rather have purple lips than purple legs with blue shoes.

    • http://twitter.com/1tsplove sara

Yeah, why does she need to look like a ghoul?  Halloween themed perhaps?

    • laurenoodle

That shade of red is gorgeous on her, she has stunning hair…but that is so not her lipstick, especially with the red.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pix-Lee/653502929 Pix Lee

From the neck up she looks likes she has hypothermia.

    • librarygrrl64

Like the pants suit, LOVE the bag!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1196490016 Bridget Smith

i like the lipstick w the dress! it’s unexpected.
