WERQ: Kirsten Dunst in Christian Dior

Posted on September 10, 2012

We never thought you’d ever catch us saying something like this, but…

Kirsten Dunst attends the premiere of ‘On The Road’ during the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival in Christian Dior.

Bow down, bitches. Miss Dunst has entered the building.

Snaps the fuck up, girl. Phenomenal look.

Really? I’m not in love. She looks cute but not great to me.

  • Sometimes that pulled back, its nearly my skin color thing is perfection.  This is one of those times.  She looks amazing.

    •  I agree. Usually I hate the “nearly nude” red carpet look, but this is pretty close to divine.

      •  What kills it most often, IMHO, is the understandable desire to bring killer statement accessories to the look, when sublime restraint is what is called for.

      • 3boysful

That’s because her skin is a pinker shade of nude than the dress.

    • kschwarting

For me, it’s that it’s perfectly tailored to her figure.  It looks like it was made for her.

    • j_anson

That’s exactly it. If it feels like the starlet just happened to wear a skin-colored dress because, you know, it’s in and her stylist threw it at her, it’s blah. But sometimes it’s a statement, it’s minimalism based on your own natural coloring. Then it’s good.

    • Buffy

      Yes, this.

  • Verascity

Personal best. She looks AMAZING. I can’t even hate on the color of the dress (although how amazing would this have been in a rich red or seafoam green?).

    • Yess! Like oxblood red?

    • Sobaika

Certainly her personal best. She’s seemed to have turned a corner in her life and in her style choices. She looks pretty immaculate.

I don’t know about seafoam though, I think it would make her look ill.

  • the_elle_word

I never knew she was so…curvaceous.

    That striped rug is unfortunate.

    • holzfaellen

Indeed. I’ve rarely seen a dress where the description “does great things for her figure” applied as much.

    • I believe that rug must have been provided by the Hudson’s Bay Company in their iconic stripes. I love it. Super Canadian.

      • mountainFashionista

Me too!  I actually am happier about the Canadian “red carpet” than I am about Kiki’s amazing dress!

      • Canadian, huh?  That puts a better spin on it.  My initial reaction was that it looked like one of the gymnastics mats from my teen-hood.

    • MoHub

Girl is obviously wearing a very good bra. Others should take a hint.

      • She actually has some boobs (i was watching crazy/beautiful and i couldn’t stop thinking about how big her boobs are) but tends to hide them. When so much fashion requires no boobs, I totally understand the desire to put them away.

        • Elleachaudaucul

I love crazy/beautiful, but that film should be renamed bra/less.

    • Sobaika

I remember seeing Melancholia (which was pretty awful but she’s naked a bit) and being surprised at how well-endowed she is for her size.

  • Her hair looks fantastic!

  • LuisaNL

gorgeous, just gorgeous. and is it just me or has she learned how to pose for pics without slouching?

  • Aw reminds me of the old Kirsten Dunst days. That colour works with her skintone here

  • The dress is gorgeous and looks amazing on her. But the color just kills it for me. If they were going for nude, how about a pale, pale blush or even a soft pink? She would have looked so much better in color: blues, greens or even an American Beauty Rose red.

  • theblondette

There’s a very slight pink tone to the nude colour that stops it looking too underwear-shade, which really helps. She looks great! Beautiful fit.

  • MilaXX

She really has turned the corner fashion wise and come into her own. Looks great.

  • shirab

You’re at work so early! Or have you just not gone to bed yet? You’ll have to book yourselves some relaxation time once you’ve lived through the brutal Fashion Week schedule. We BKs will forgive a few slow days for such a worthy cause.

    •  Indeed!  Such Yoeman service as yours deserves a break. Pamper yourselves after this is all said and done. (of course, AFTER feeding the cats)

    •  Um, you can schedule posts. That’s what I would do, at least, if I were them and running such an insane schedule this week.

  • Miss Dunst needs to buy her new styling team pretty, shiny presents.  Lord knows they deserve it.  She looks great!

  • SapphoPoet

She looks lovely. Fabulous lip color. Too bad she’s standing on a Hudson Bay Blanket.

    • Aurumgirl

Well, she is at TIFF, and that’s always held near “Hudson Bay Company central” in Toronto.  Everybody’s got something to sell, and they never stop trying to sell it.

      • SapphoPoet

Yeah, after I posted I realized where she was. The carpet makes sense given that she’s in Toronto.

My parents gave us an authentic Hudson Bay Blanket for Christmas one year (my mother was Canadian, so it was sort of an in-joke). The damn thing weighs A TON and is too warm to be used. The only time we’ve ever used it was when we lost power for four days in October during a freak snowstorm and our bedroom temperature dropped to around 40 degrees. We were really glad to have it then.

        • Aurumgirl

(I love those things, secretly.  When I was a kid I wanted one of the HBB pea coats and duffle coats they used to sell, but my mother thought a mostly white wool coat would be a terrible idea for a kid).  The blankets do weigh a ton and cost “a couple of skins”, literally!, but there are all kinds of reasons to keep a heavy, toasty blanket handy where I live.  They make a poor substitute for a red carpet, though.

  • bluefish

Beautiful dress on a lovely body.  Love the touches on that pale pale pink.  And a perfect fit.  Pretty hair too.

  • Funkykatt

Her dress must be cleaning the ground

  • Elaine Lang

The fit and style is PERFECT, but I wish it didn’t match her skin tone so perfectly.   I know that that is maybe part of the point, but in that case I’m not sure about the red lip.    I’m confused.

Sigh.   But, yeah, an IN for me, if not quite a WERQ.

  • Ryan Williamson

I dunno, her head looks great, and her figure looks great but the dress is still snoozeville. I guess if she wanted people to ignore the dress and look at her face then mission accomplished. That’s a great shade of lipstick on her.

  • Richard Harper

All good, except for the barrette.

    • I’m not sure it’s even a barrette, I thought it was a bobby pin with bling. The faux naivete cheapens the look.

  • Tatiana Luján

why is this a phenomenal look?

  • Tatiana Luján

Yes to the shape of the dress on her, not on the color.

  • n a

i’m happy for her- I always appreciate that she didn’t re-do her teeth and has stuck with her natural look- because she is a pretty girl.  I also think it’s hard to be a pale blonde with the limp hair- it is so tough to not look washed out.  She looks fresh & pretty but not girl-ish here.  go kiki!!

  • quiltrx

This is a really pretty gown.  And for some reason, the ‘old bras’ color is working here.

  • yulaffin

She’s lovely but she looks a little washed out in that color.  Maybe something a little darker?

  • EEKstl

After all those “blush” and “nude” colors against pale skin bombing, it’s refreshing to see one that werqs!

  • Mary229

I had the same thought when I saw her.   This is an example of nude done right.   She looks the best I’ve ever seen her.

  • Looks gorgeous. My only complaint is that it’s a skosh too long, though this dress might be difficult to hem without messing up how it hangs. (And I’m sure she’s got on sky-high heels under there.)

  • kmk05

Nooooooo! Colour of old tacky bras purchased from Ann Summers. Love everything else, but that dress colour.. Just no.

  • TieDye64

She’s never looked better. Normally I despise these flesh colored gowns, but she looks lovely in this.

  • margaret meyers

    So ladylike and so hot.

  • Sara__B

Her hair is too girly, but she looks wonderful otherwise.

  • cap1764

And she’s standing up pretty straight.  Not like some other starlets that SLOUCH.  Didn’t anyone tell them to stand up straight?

  • msdamselfly

    Looks ordinary to me

  • jw_ny

I do agree that she looks great…her body looks slammin’!  It baffles me how a pale skinned blonde can not appear washed out in pale pink, but Kristen managed it somehow.  He makeup looks rather severe closeup tho…only criticism.

    • The severe makeup in close-up is an unfortunate side effect of ‘camera ready’ makeup – as with theatre makeup, one generally looks good either in closeup or from a distance. It’s pretty difficult to do makeup in a way that does both. That said, her foundation is just a tad too pink, I think.

  • claudemtl777

Its like she has finally turned a corner. She’s wearing the hell out of her clothes now, whereas before, she just let them hang limply…Very nice…There’s a certain self-assurance to her also

  • Snailstsichr

She has officially moved off my irrational hate list. She looks charming.

  • elirt

    Killing. It.

  • And she KNOWS it, look at that confident smirk in the second picture. She’s saying “I dare you TLO to not snap out loud at this”

  • StillGary

YAY, Love it when she scores!

  • marilyn

Look at her face.  She is getting too old to do the little girl look anymore.

  • TheOriginalLulu

She’s either got a new love or a new stylist in her life, because girlfriend has been bringing it.

  • She looks like a fairy just flying through a very nude powder. Wonderful, gorgeous, beautiful!

  • j_anson

    That subtle draping is beautiful.

  • poggi

She looks great.  You really see her (pretty face, nice hair, great figure) and then the details and amazing cut of the dress.

    • Lilak

Yup! And her look of confidence (quiet, as Kiki do) in those things enhances the whole deal.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

That dress is showcasing her figure perfectly.  Gorgeous look.

    • ampg

So true. Plus she looks about 7 feet tall.

  • Her eyes, lips and hair shine with that nondescript dress tone.

  • ChelseaNH

I don’t like the color of the dress, but she is pulling it off through the power of personal magnetism, which is what WERQing it is all about.  So snaps for her.

  • guest2visits

This is just gorgeous on her, and she looks like she grew a foot taller too.  Perfect fit, perfect length.

  • Susan Crawford

Major. Miss Kiki is nailing it to the wall lately.

  • WOW!  I have honestly never seen her look this glam.  It reminds me a lot of Marilyn Monroe’s “naked” dress when she sang to JFK – just sheer/skin colored material sprinkled with crystals.

  • bellafigura1

Blech. She looks like she has a hangover.

  • blondie65

  • Judy Raddue

Gorgeous… I especially love that her boobs are properly supported.  She has fabulous breasts but, for far too long, has been more than happy to let them sag in some dress better suits to the likes of Keira Knightley.  With this gown, she’s finally embracing her gorgeous voluptuousness.  Considering that she also looks happier than ever, I’d say Ms. Dunst is coming into her own – watch out, world!

  • Sweetvegan

Hair and makeup are perfect, too. Never thought that a rhinestoned bobby pin could look so elegant!

  • glennethph

Reminds me PR season 7 where Jonathan based the colors of the dress on the model’s skin color.

  • Candigirl1968

It’s like she woke up one morning recently and just started really caring.  Kudos.

  • RzYoung

Fucking hell she looks breath taking!

  • oohsparkley!

Very old Hollywood glamorous! She’s werqing it.  I would prefer a more intense color – any color.
