WERQ: Dita Von Teese in Burberry

Posted on September 19, 2012

Miss Dita is attending the London fashion shows and is letting us all know that she’s serving up a big ol’ silver platter of fierce to the Brits.

Dita Von Teese attends the Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Spring 2013 Fashion Show during London Fashion Week.

Burberry Fall 2012 Collection/Model: Elena Bartels

That’s some “ladies who lunch” realness being blasted in your face right now. She’s ready for tea with the Queen.

Even her fucking umbrella is fierce. Bow down, peasants.

Oh, so prim and proper!  She looks lovely.

  • Araina23

I think I’m getting tired of her look.  I like the dress on the model, but not on her that much.

    • pattyw

Thank you–I totally agree. That’s not the dress for such stylized hair and makeup.

      • e jerry powell

         Burlesque queen makes good?

      • j_anson

Yes, word. Put into words what I was thinking.

        • She does nothing for me.  Her costumes are old and tired.

    • CheriCPat

I couldn’t disagree with you more!  I was just thinking she looks FAR better in that dress than the model does.  Well, you know what they say about opinions …..

      • jjfg

I agree with you – the dress looks better on her than on the model, no contest.  I was in fact wondering how the hell she manages to pull that particular feat off so consistently, too!

      • AmeliaEve

I totally agree. That dress comes alive on somebody with a few curves.

        •  And a good corset.  Foundation garments are so important.

  • Dot

    She is flawless.

  • Flawless.

  • I saw this earlier on 9gag (yes, I admit it). She dropped her umbrella and two men rushed to pick it up for her. It was cute! But the only thing I could think was WERQ it guuuuuuuuurrrll!

    •  Lol me too! The way she react when she dropped it was so cute! Like “Ups, I drop my umbrella.” She’s just so f-ing gorgeous!

  • Sobaika

TELL me the Bitter Kittens have seen the pictures of Dita outside this show dropping her umbrella, looking up expectantly, and having Aaron Paul and an unknown gentleman scramble to pick it up for her.

    I would like her life.

    • I have NOT seen these pictures.  But, thanks to you, I will look now.  Dita FTW at life.

    • kschwarting

I’ve seen them and wondered whether they were part of an act.  What do you think?  She’s so ladylike, it just kills me.  Plus I’d love my skin to look that flawless.

      • Sobaika

The pictures definitely look a but staged, but who knows. And her skin is flawless! So rich and even.

        • Glammie

Yeah, were they staged or does she just know how to pose in the moment?  I was wondering about that too.

          And, man, that skin–perfect.

      • formerlyAnon

I’d say 70-30 it was staged. She has worked damned hard at presenting every detail *just so* in public for years now.

(Which is why I would NEVER want her life).

    • you’renotmysupervisor!!

Aaron Paul was her “date” for the show, apparently (maybe they’re doing an ad campaign together?), and they sat next to each other and posed outside.  The umbrella probably was staged, but I couldn’t care less!!!

      bow down, british monkey farmers!!!

    • kirkyo

Also that is the best that Aaron Paul’s ever looked. Killer suit.

DVT must be very tiny. Aaron Paul is towering over her even with her heels.

  • May I ask, gentlemen, is she the leader on total WERQs so far?  It sure seems she comes out slamming it outta the park more often than anyone, with the possible exception of Tilda Swinton.

    •  Zoe Saldana must be a contender?

      •  Though I think Dita has been getting reviewed longer, so may have the edge on her.

        • mjude

i was going to ask if she always gets a WERQ, how can she not?

          •  I can recall one post, where our esteemed hosts did not give her a WERQ.  There was some question about accessories with a long vibrantly printed gown, as I remember it.

  • Oh, I’m bowing. She is the definition of fabulous! I love the burgundy purse and umbrella.

  • Martha Deutsch

That is a great print. Very William Morris and totally great for a visit to GB.

  • I covet that umbrella immensely.  I kind of hope there’s a sword stashed in there.  Or a tube of lipstick and liquid eyeliner.  Either way.

  • StelledelMare

As if Ms. Dita would give us anything but a WERQ

  • RebeccaKW

Dear Kenley-this is how you do ‘retro’ and look glam, not like you are wearing a costume.  Bitch is fierce and I love that umbrella.

  • MarissaLG

I’d love to see Dita without a red lip. Otherwise, perfection.

    • StellaZafella

Dita Von Teese without red lips would be as a rose without it’s thorn…
      Still a rose…
      but what’s the point?

    • ballerinawithagun

Trademark! I have a girlfriend who only wears red lips. She changed for a short period of time and she just didn’t seem like herself!

  • H3ff

Pure fabulosity served up. I actually think the dress is fugly, but Dita and her magic powers somehow makes it work for her. Imagine Lizzie Moss in this.

    • alyce1213

      Oy.  Now I can’t un-imagine.

  • please post the sequence where she drops her umbrella and let 2 guys to pick it up for her 😀

  • G

Her skin is to die for… and her hair.. to dye for!

  • I think the dress itself is rather ugly, but Ms. Dita still manages to make it WERQ. To quote TLo, “LUV HUH!”

  • SpcilK

Her Highness of fierceness has arrived. Kiss the ring!

  • Pants_are_a_must

You WERQ that secret pregnancy chic!

    • Huh?

      • Pants_are_a_must

Am I seriously the only one who noticed she totally has a baby bump?

        • Anathema_Device

No, I looked up those pics of her dropping the umbrella and she it really looks like she has a baby bump. This pic is the one that makes it pretty obvious:

          • Pants_are_a_must

See? That dress is just incredibly cleverly done to disguise it but she is TOTALLY pregnant.

          • mayavaly

It’s what I thought immediately. If she is, I think there could well be many wonderful ‘let’s compare with other pregnant ladies’ opportunities ahead.

          • Whoa!! But I thought she and her French count (?) broke up? Are she and Aaron Paul dating? Is she seriously carrying Jesse Pinkman’s baby?

          • MissAnnieRN

I would be totally into that!  She’s like at least 10 years older than him, right?  And wow, couldn’t be more opposite than Marilyn.

  • I think the shade of her hose is a little off, and I really hate that beaded treatment at the neckline, but to be Dita is to be WERQ.

  • Cold Fire

  • pookiesmom

It’s insane how much better she looks than the model. Werq indeed!

  • SewingSiren

She never takes a day off

    • formerlyAnon

At least not if she leaves the house, apparently. I admire what she does, but I would hate that.

  • beebee10

I am not worthy to even look at her visage!

  • Anathema_Device

Love this on her. She looks so much better than the runway model. The umbrella is the perfect touch. What is that on the handle? Looks to be an animal of some sort.

An umbrella aside: I was in Seattle recently and stopped into an umbrella store. No, really. They had some amazing handmade umbrellas in great colors and patterns.

  • Love everything but the shoes. Those are surprisingly unfabulous, especially for Miss Dita.

And, I admire her commitment to her Look, especially since (apparently) she doesn’t hire stylists and does her hair and makeup herself. I wonder if she ever wakes up and goes, “f*** it,” puts her hair in a ponytail, and throws on a pair of jeans and a tshirt? I don’t think I’ve ever even seen her in pants.

    • I bet she doesn’t. Her vanity table’s pretty luxe, if I recall from Joan Rivers visiting her home.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

I’ve seen a photo of her at Coachella (or a n other festival like it) where her hair is in a ponytail and she’s wearing dungarees (US trans: overalls) and she STILL looks like she stepped out of the last century.  Perfect.

    • formerlyAnon

If she does, she damn sure doesn’t leave the house, apparently.

  • alyce1213

This is another case where I don’t really like the dress that much, but the wearer elevates it to a WERQ.
It’s refreshing to see Dita look a little less “costumed” than usual.  I love that she’s wearing hosiery because it’s the right thing to do (bare legs would be vulgar with this dress), plus I like hosiery.
    Perfect, head to toe.

  • Ditta von Tease is a walking WERQ factory, but that might be the most depressing dress I’ve ever seen.

  • Eclectic Mayhem

    She is perfection.

  • EEKstl

I saw a shot of her somewhere at one of the shows and could really only see her from the waist up and I thought she looked perfect. Now it’s a surety.

  • PastryGoddess

I saw a picture of her sitting down and even when she sits she is WERQing the shit out of everything.

  • GorgeousThings

That is some serious fabulosity being served on a silver platter!

  • love

  • kikisayshi

    She is flawless.

  • Her legs appear to be a different color than the rest of her.  Is she wearing granny pantyhose?

  • gabbilevy

Oh Miss Dita. No one even comes close. I love the color choice in the bag and umbrella with the dress! Slam dunk.

  • bitterk

Did she remove the panel on the front of the dress?  I don’t see the same flap.  Lovely dress though.  Prefer Dita’s belt over the runway.

  • MilaXX

Not loving her shoe, but everything is indeed fierce.

  • ojosazules

I bow down to anyone who can make a sofa dress look that good.

  • DCSheehan

    She. Is. Fantastic.

  • margaret meyers

She has the best posture. So lady-like.

And the retro styling that she’s doing?  Others try, but they cannot take it to this level and still make it work.  On them, it’s costume; on her, it’s style.

  • Pennymac

So much better than the model. Love me some Dita!

  • That bumbershoot is fucking genius.

    • formerlyAnon

Yes. I think it’s what makes the ensemble. Or at least keeps it firmly over the line between “wearing tacky hotel bedspread fabric in a dowdy cut” and “Dita WERQing it.”

  • Le_Sigh

I love how she can make a potentially stiff and stuffy dress look fresh and fierce.

  • LOVE her to death, but I’m not crazy about this.  It’s very “Mumsy” in it’s print and style.  She’s WERQing it, but it’s like the dress is fighting her.  And you do NOT fight Miss Dita, dress, do you hear me?

  • Nonmercisansfacon

This doesn’t look fierce to me. Lovely and flawless, no doubt but nothing screams ‘bow down, because my awesomeness is overpowering to mere mortals” to me.

  • Zippypie

The fact that I think she looks fierce while wearing an incredibly ugly 60s sofa print dress equals WERQ in my book.  And very London.

  • frankystein123

A lady in the streets and a freak on the stage?

  • TSkot

Terribly “old lady” for someone so young.

  • j_anson

Eeeeeeehhhh. I’m not convinced about that color and upholstery print with her coloring and makeup.

  • Sweetvegan

She looks great, but that dress would be even better for her in a more jewel-toned colorway. Yes – awesome umbrella! It’s not often an umbrella becomes a fashion accessory.

  • joything

I love the way she fills a dress, and that she is just so damned fierce … but I always have the impression that her mouth is detached from her face and floating a few centimeters above it.

  • Groomed within an inch of the always immaculate Wallis Simpson!

  • Holy Toledo! that was spectacular!

  • formerlyAnon

She is amazing. There are precious few who could have styled and worn this without having it damned as dowdy.

  • RzYoung

wow, in the best possible way, she looks like my William Morris curtains 🙂

  • afabulous50

Flawless…better than the model. Bow down bitches.

  • Vaniljekjeks

Fiercest umbrella ever.  I am ashamed of my plain one.  I am humbly bowing down.

  • Has Tita ever “not WERQed” for you guys?

    • I know she hasn’t at least once. It was a formal gown, she looked older than her years and severe. Generally she gets it but when she is too slavish to her look it can fail periodically.

  • But wait, her shoes are fugly!

  • Love that kind of makeup; on her.

  • ballerinawithagun

That is my dress! Love it.

  • BazoDee

Hmmm -I’m not sold -the length seems odd and the shoes are hideous. She looks great but not quite a WERQ to me.

  • But…what are those shoes?

  • Anathema_Device

Totally kick-ass. And expensive, but that’s not a surprise.

  • I, for one, find this dress to be hideous curtain material.  I think we last saw this look on Eric Idle in the mid-70s.  Including the shoes.  But Ms. Dita shows us how to take it off the “pepper pot” and make it seem fabulous.  It’s all about her face, hair and attitude here.  And umbrella, in this season’s most of-the-moment burgundy, thank you very much.  Now, speaking of how it’s done, please show us some Carmen Dell’Orifice.

  • Beardslee

I know very little about this woman but I think she is very shrewd.  She looks fabulous now, and could look fabulous in a similar dress decades from now.  She is not trading on how hot hot hot she is by wearing a skintight revealing mess,  and so I think she will ride out the years more gracefully and successfully than many women we see on this website.

  • altermyego

Regardless of what she is wearing, does this woman ever do anything but WERQ it?

    Love huh.

  • melanie0866

LOVE the eggplant purse and umbrella.

  • boomchicabowwow

    *gets down on knees*

  • marigi

At this point, to me she’s really boring. She never changes, it’s as if she’s always in drag. At least the hair, please! And she’s wearing skin-tone hose that makes her look like a granny. Wear the black, if you’re cold.

  • maggiemaybe

I love it (I ADORE her makeup), but that dress makes both her and the teeny tiny model look thick around the waist. Weird.

  • michelle shields

    she’s so purty!

  • Scott Isaacs

How in the world does she get such flawless, smooth, milky white skin? That secret alone could be worth thousands.

LUV HUH all around. Complete and total WERQ.

I love this bitch so much it hurts sometimes. She is not of this Earth.

  • Tea with the Queen? She’s motherfucking fashion royalty. She just needs a church to become a fashion goddess.

  • marcoUpstate

So good to see how ambition and passion can bring worldwide (semi) fame to a girl willing to prance around half naked.  Let that be a lesson gals, it’s all still possible if you have a good gimmick.  Too snaps up for Heather.

  • Larkin21

    Wow! Perfection!

  • Bowing down. She looks lovely.

  • ccm800

This would look like a carpet bag on anyone else (see model – ahem) and gluing some stones onto a dress so that necklaces need not apply is just frigging stupid but she looks fantastic. Which says a lot about the woman.

  • LinXGUA

If Dita says your name, all your dreams come true.

  • librarygrrl64

I like the silhouette on her, and I agree that she’s pretty much a daily WERQ, but this color palette is totally wrong for her. She needs cool tones. These autumnal colors belong on someone with golden blonde, red, or chestnut hair.

  • She really is perfection.. Which naturally has attracted some jealous bitches up in here!

  • Sarah Walsh

Taylor Swift does not deserve to kiss the hem of such effortless, breezy bag-modeling.
