Tibi Spring 2013 Collection

Posted on September 20, 2012

Tibi continues its tradition of clean, minimalist lines in stark colors with this collection, offering up a whole bunch of chic little wardrobe essentials and separates. We’re not super-crazy about the brushed denim, but we love the mosaic print and the laces. It’s all very feminine in a 21st Century kind of way. Less frills, more impact.

I pretty much like it all. Except for the first dress with the mock belly window.

    • BrooklynBomber

Yeah, that’s freaky. I like the color combination and the concept, but the placement of the window is a little strange.

      Looks like an apron

You wear that when you are pregnant so people can keep track of how far along you are.

Honest to Bob, it looks like she enlarged then stapled her sonogram to her crotch.

A very successful, and marketable collection.  Its translatable to a lot of price levels, maintains a clear conceptual look that will mark the wearer as a forward thinking, educated woman. And the individual pieces could very easily be pulled across to work with a range of other things quite well.

  • Sobaika

That white sheer shirt is heinous.

Otherwise it’s a nice mix of strong separates that would translate well to a range of people. Well done.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

people who are not me might wear this.

  • Anathema_Device

I don’t care for the drop waists and overall proportions here. Not digging the colors all that much, either. Middle dress, bottom row, is pretty great, though.

Khaki pants with black granny panties – hiddy.
    (Ist row on the right).

These don’t really impress me. And if the clothes aren’t super flattering on models, how will they look on real people?

  • quiltrx

I like the clean lines, and I’ve always liked black with pastels.  Some of it doesn’t look all that wearable for regular folks, I’ll admit.

  • Judy_J

Love the pink/black combos the best.

I like a lot of it, but is that another skirt clinging to the model’s hips I see in the second look, a la Marc Jacobs? (I genuinely can’t tell if it’s a skirt or shorts, but either way…)

  • save_the_hobbit

Eh. I do like the last one though, with the dropped waist leather skirt. But I that’s because I’m in love with pretty much any dress with a dropped waist.

  • MilaXX

Not crazy about at least half of this. I dislike the print and pretty much everything on rows 1 – 6. The last two rows are nice though.

  • PinkLemon

feel like i’ve seen this all before….

Oh not belly baring pants again! Why can’t they fixate on something new like KNEES! Knee cleavage, sheer knees, tight knee socks and knee cap bustiers! Wow I am cranky this morning. I must Kneed some red wine and a baguette.

  • DTLAFamilies

Yech. That shade of pink is hiddy.

  • kimmeister

The sandals that cover just the inside of the foot are kind of interesting.  I’ll pass on everything else.

  • LadyJazzmine

Oh come on. If a designer on Project Runway had made the dress at the top of the post, you’d have ripped them to shreds. It is hideous.

    • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

A runway show is not a reality television show. And we don’t rip any of the Fashion Week collections to shreds.

  • mellorcr

This collection has a bit of a split personality.  Some of them have nipped in waists at the natural position, and some of the dropped waists are so low the models look like stretched out silly-putty pictures.  (silly putty isn’t just a color!)

  • SpcilK

I usually love Tibi, but I am underwhelmed by this collection.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Eh. The mosaic print is nice.

These Spring collections have been so underwhelming. Next spring I think I will just wear this spring’s clothes again.

  • NCDFan

I really hate that we’ve got to live through another ‘hip hugger’ fashion phase. Why not just put a big X across the hips declaring ‘this is the widest part of my body!’

  • marilyn

The first look is troubling.  What is the designer trying to accentuate with the big circle?  To quote Farmer Tim, it looks like a tampon gone bad.

  • kirkyo

Those legs in Row 7 #3 are going to give me nightmares.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

I agree. That model needs a sandwich, STAT. The gap is like a foot wide on those thighs, and I can see her skeleton. NOT HOT.

  • margaret meyers

Most of them seem to be wearing ear augmentation.  Is that a trend?

  • lucasuk82

    I’m flashing back to MK’s reaction to Wendy Pepper’s show… I’m getting it, I’m getting it… I’m getting ta-tas.

  • ccm800

Hate the print blocking – ABHOR the denim – ruins every look it touches. The nipples are juvenile but I love everything else – especially some of the what I assume is laser cut fabrics
