Lincoln Center, bitches!

The Empire Hotel Rooftop Bar, NYC

Let’s all meet on the rooftop of the Empire! It’ll only be a 1-minute elevator ride for us. See that view? Go down about ten stories and that’s the view outside our hotel room this lovely Fashion Week.

Designer Anna Sui, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, and Heidi Klum

Listen, we’re absolutely wiped after attending seven shows, receiving well wishes from multiple strangers, and generally just being as fabulous as we can be. Talk amongst yourself, dolls. First thing tomorrow morning, we’ll be off to the tents to live-tweet the finale collections of the remaining designers. In this, the tenth season of the show, we wonder how many “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE SPOILING THE FINALISTS, T LO! UNFOLLOW!” tweets we’ll get THIS time.

Have fun at fashion week, boys! I just restocked the home bar so drinks are on me tonight.

My sincerest hope for this week’s episode of PR is that Dmitry and Elena will start shrieking at each other in Russian and then have a face-slapping, hair-pulling, eye-scratching fight on the runway,

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I have been waiting for the Russian style Slapov, all season! Sooooo looking forward to the endless eye rolling by Dmitri, and the bulging neck tendons from Elena. Not.

        • EveEve

I’m starting the evening with a Vodka Tonic to set the mood for the impending perestroika.  And I might get out the binocs because I’m on W. 66th across from Lincoln Center and can watch all y’all in the TLounge if you stand close enough to the rail.   Nostrovia!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

            Do you see me waving?

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

The thing that worries me is that clearly, if they”re bitching on the runway about how they hated working with each other, then that means they’re in the top, or probably the bottom, because only the top and bottom talk about their looks and their experience – the “safes” are sent to the workroom. So if it was a bad experience, chances are they’re in the bottom. And if Elena gets Dmitry eliminated tonight, you’ll hear me shriek all the way from Queens!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I want Dmitry in the final 3, dammit!

            • Introspective

Me too! His stuff is simple but fab and yet he keeps getting plopped unfairly in the safe pile.

And girl im ready for some glasnost, perestroika and and a stoli on the rocks to boot cause that russian-ukranian showdown is about to be a MESS…

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Oh, honey, I want him in the final three so badly, it’s driving me nuts!

          • Sara__B

You’ll hear me shrieking on the Oregon coast. He HAS to be in the final three!

      • altalinda

Finally, I could put those years of Russian classes to good use.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_B3CIEK7XAS3YKAAKFJFMIIKC4I Nacogdoches

My Ukrainian student told me today that they can understand Russians, but Russians can’t understand Ukranian. Which sounds about right…it’s not like anything Elena says makes a lot of sense anyway!

        • bitchybitchybitchy

That sounds similar to our Estonian friends and the Finnish language. Of course, the Estonians are usually making snide comments about the inferiority of Finnish….

        • kismet026

Wow. That’s pretty offensive to Ukrainians such as Elena. As a Ukrainian, she clearly does not make sense? There are no Russians in this competition (Dmitry is from Belarus, his first language is likely Belarusian – though that is just my conjecture), so it shouldn’t matter if they understand her, but also – her English should be applauded (as should Dmitry’s), as it is not her first language – fluency in a second language requires a lot of effort.

    • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

Can’t wait to see wait to see the finale collections. Should be interesting!

    • CarolinLA

They’re showing 8 collections tomorrow, right?  So the one designer auf’d tonight is the one who doesn’t get to show.  I’m guessing Alicia.  Anyhoo – if they only show the finalists’ collections, the minute something shredded comes down the runway, we’ll know Christopher made it.  Same thing with one of those fucking flowers – we’ll know Ven made it.  The minute something dated and a bit untasteful – we’ll know Gunnar made it.

      • Glammie

Doesn’t Christopher have immunity?  We’re doomed to see shreds.  Gunnar’s a designated “personality”, so I suspect he’ll still be with us.  I kind of like Alicia, but she does have “expendable” written all over her.

        • CozyCat

Gunnar or Venn will be the “gotcha!”  second place—the one they hold the prize in front of until the last possible moment, making him think he’s won, only to wisk it away and watch the angry tears flow….

      • Celandine1

Romulan jackets – we’ll know Insane in the Ukrain made it.

      • Introspective

Alicia, her bad fabric choices, horrible tailoring and yawn worthy “designs” needed to be gone at least 3 wks ago. If she survives tonight its because someone else basically sends the apocalypse on muslin down the runway.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/2LIE6ISFQUBIAO7OB6U5TAVXXQ Depot'er

and to think I liked Ven…at the start of the season.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

As I sit, toasting the day’s dying light, looking out over the city, I will be thinking of you both. Huzzah, Gentlemen!

Okay, so who’s for a splash of the old bubbly, on me?

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

         Me!  I’m celebrating tonight.

This week it became official — I am actually going to have a real design business!  Which is entirely due to everyone here, by the way.  It’s been such an education on the market that I am moving ahead with a real business, with marketing plans and tax numbers and everything.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Allow me to be the first to congratulate you! This is wonderful news!!!!!!!!!

        • 3boysful

Congrats, Shannon!  I’m awed and impressed!  What are you drinking, champagne?  My treat!

        • alyce1213

Good luck! Bonne chance! Buena suerte! Buona fortuna!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Fellow Kittens. A toast to our newest designer, Shannon Stewart!

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Thanks all.  I finally convinced my best friend to go into with me — as I lack the appropriate self-discipline and the business skills (and the urge to acquire said skills).  Since she is now unemployed with a degree in organizational leadership — which I fully intend to keep teasing her about, no matter how successful it makes us — she is going to handle all the business side of thing, particularly the marketing.  I’ve been considering this for the last year, with no progress on the logistics of it.  She came up with three marketing plans in the 10 minutes after I outlined the idea.

Together we have finally figured out how to structure a business the way I want it.  We will be doing a staple collection for each of 9 market sections (petite, regular, tall in each of three body types: apple, pear, and hourglass) where it will still be custom made, but off of standard templates so that I can do them more quickly, and therefore at a reasonable price.  Then I will still do custom design by commission as well.  If we do well enough, we’d like to set up a full storefront at some point.

            • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Congratulations! That’s wonderful news! You must link up when you get a website going.

            • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

              Yes! Interesting! Please do.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

It’s probably going to be a couple months, because I’m working up all the samples now, plus some samples of more elaborate designs as custom work.  I’m hoping to be really ready by the first of the year.

            • Eclectic Mayhem

              You Rock!

            • http://onebluetree.blogspot.com/ Sara L.

As a tall, pear-shaped lady, I salute you! Congrats and much luck in your new business.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well, the friend who is partnering with me and I have been bitching about the size tyranny for years — the clothing market is handled really stupidly at every price point.  Obviously no label can possibly accommodate everyone perfectly, but we’d be willing to settle for companies that even make an effort.  So it’s very much a “if you want something done right, do it yourself!” idea.

The goal is to think about the experience that women in the 1% have and bring it down to a point where we can give it to the masses.  No, most women don’t get custom fitted evening gowns, but most women don’t need them either — they do, however, need a jacket that fits correctly and doesn’t visually add 15 lbs.

            • Peeve

Sounds like a really terrific concept you’ve come up with! Really impressive. All the best to you both. I’ll be one of the first to pore over your collections. Can’t wait to see them! Veuve Clicquot and congratulations on me!

            • CozyCat

It sounds like the suit and shirt tailoring that men have always had access to.  It’s about time that someone made that available to women!
Now, if you could just convince my dry cleaner not to charge blouse prices for my cotton shirts, equal rights for women will be within our grasps!

            • LesYeuxHiboux

Tall hourglass here, can’t wait to see these designs!

            • khh1138

This tall apple (with breasts!  Designers fainting everywhere) wishes you luck too…

            • Call me Bee

That is awesome.  Please keep us, your BK/PUF buddies, informed orf website and/or storefront.

            • sleepycat

Congrats!!! Pases out the bubbly for round 5

            • joything

Apple & Pear in an Hourglass?  I’ll have one of those cocktails, please.

… and thank you Shannon Stewart for being body-specific!  The world is ready!

            • tinyredlocks

              Yeah for talls and hourglass!

        • Glammie

Congrats Shannon, sew well and prosper!

        • carolynmo

          Good job, Shannon! Fantastic!

        • NDC_IPCentral

Congratulations and best wishes for much success, Shannon.  You’re another brave enterprise starting up in the burgeoning economy.  We have to count you as another “employed” person – oh, I see you have a partner — two employed persons!

        • SapphoPoet

          Huzzah! Congrats!

        • MilaXX

           woo hoo ! Congrats!

        • Anathema_Device

Congrats! I’m so happy for you! Best of luck on the new venture.

        • formerlyAnon

Very late to the party tonight – but I so have to add my congratulations on your new venture! Your energy and smarts are impressive.

        • Eclectic Mayhem

Whoop!  *gathers children together for an impromptu conga*

Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON – Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON – Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON – Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON – Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON – Shannon, Shannon, ShaNNON (repeat to fade)

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I am hoping to get some snapshots of some samples I’m doing online by next week, and if TLo are okay with it, I will link so you wonderfully supportive people can at least get a look :)

        • BrooklynBomber

          Congratulations!!

      • Anathema_Device

I’ll enjoy a virtual glass of bubbly as my reality involves dinner, laundry, and soccer carpool!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I will be at work, keeping retail entropy at bay, tonight. So it’s a few early, celebratory glasses, and then I’m off! I don’t envy you the carpool business one bit.

      • Call me Bee

I’m in!  Sorry I’m late, but I had a tragic thing happen today.  My trusty 15 year old Rowenta iron gave up the ghost this afternoon.  I had a sad.  But–I ran out and got a new one.  The king is dead.  Long live the king.
So I could use a bit o’ the bubbly.  Thanks, Kiltd.  I’ll get the next round, k?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

          (observing moment of silence)
I shudder thinking about my now 20 plus year old Black and Decker giving up.

          • Susan_El

Susan El–Kiltdn.  I live right down the road from you (the NorCal road, that is) and I have 2 irons I haven’t used in 12 years, being the anti-fashion goddess that I am.  If your’s dies, just let me know and I’ll have the nice folks at TaskRabbit come by and deliver one or both of them to you free of charge, just in honor of your ad-hoc hosting skills!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Totally sweet of you! Hello fellow Nor Cal Kitten.

            • bitchybitchybitchy

Are the Bitter Kittens not the best?

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              BKs and PUFs foh’evah!

          • Call me Bee

Thanks for the moment of silence.  I have ceremoniously buried Rowenta…in the trash bin.  They pick up tomorrow…
I also say a little prayer for the continued service of your B&D.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

That last sentence has a rather, um, mixed message, no?

            • Call me Bee

??  I just want your B&D to continue working for you, so I say a lttle paryer for you.  :)

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Oh my dissolute mInd not only saw Black and Decker, it saw Bondage and Discipline. Sorry, I’m such a jaded felow. I appreciate your prayers, of course I do.

            • PastryGoddess

I totally read that in the naughty way as well

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Whew! I was beginning to feel alone in that.

            • Call me Bee

Oh my.  I must be sheltered, as that’s a phrase I don’t know.  If I had been talking about that–I’d have used the initials S&M.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Don’t concern yourself Bee. In SF, such things are casual light conversation. Here, we’re all hopelessly depraved. (yeah right)

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

One of my favorite things about that particular city!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              (evil smile)
              me too,……..

            • formerlyAnon

Hmm, I think you’ve been reading the wrong sort of press about your home city! I’ve always been struck by the community & public spirited vibe – of course, most of my SF experience is back when the cost of living there had just begun to shoot out of range of a normal human.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Its part of what makes Sf such a special place, we can be all about public spirit and inclusiveness, and at the same time be poly-amorous, wildly unconventional, and a bit goofy, at times. of course I say that with the love I bear for me city and its amazing people, in my heart, always.

            • tinyredlocks

You weren’t alone. I read it as you did #gutterbrain

    • SewingSiren

I was wondering if you were still going to the PR show as you got invites to so many “real” fashion shows.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Our generous hosts, here, would never let the Faithful Bitter Kittens down in their most dire hour of PR need.

        • MilaXX

Are you tending bar tonight?  I could use a nice drink or 2.(or 3 or 4)

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’ve got an open bottle of vintage champers right next to me. Sit yourself down and lets get all bitter and shit.

            • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

               I love how you seem to have become the substitute TLounge host when our favorite gay uncles are off being too-cool-for-school at NYFW. {that’s 100% jealousy speaking, right there}

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

What can I say? I love a good party and few things make me as happy as hosting a good time for a bunch of great people. As long as our hosts don’t mind, and the rest of the Kittens are cool with it, of course. More champagne. barkeep!

            • EveEve

This BK is totally cool with it…and the best part is that I don’t have to wash all the glassware the next morning when I can barely open my bleary eyes.  I’m settling in for the evening. NYC is insane tonight with Fashion Night Out.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

The even more bestest part is, neither do I! Virtual gatherings are so easy in that way. I can only imagine the madness in NYC tonight.

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I walked through the fashion district on my way home, and it was NUTS!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              But oh so stylish!

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

True!  Kiltdntiltd is a wonderful surrogate host!

            • bitchybitchybitchy

              I’ll drink to that!

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I’ll have a glass of that, bar keep!

            • MilaXX

      • terpsichory

         (hot glue) burrrn!

Hell’s bells – I may need a paramedic tonight if these designs don’t get better.

    • l_c_ann

What time does tweeting begin tomorrow morning?

    • 3boysful

Methinks we have a lot to celebrate tonite, Uncles T & Lo!  First round’s on me, celebrating your book, your Times article, and your general fabulousness!

    • rainwood1

T Lo, you think we’re STRANGERS???  We’re bitter kittens, unborn fawns, millions of minions, and boundless numbers of bitches, but never strangers, darling, never strangers.

Have a good night’s sleep, boys, so you can run the fashion week marathon again tomorrow.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

I need several large, stiff, drinks. Oh, screw it, just gimme the bottle of Cuervo, a bowl of limes and a salt shaker.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I loves me some Tequila, but it’s a surefire way to getting seriously f-ed up. Alas, I’m too old to do that on a school night these days.

        • 3boysful

Isn’t it funny, no matter how old, um, mature, we may get, Sun – Thurs are “school nights”?

          • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

             Haha, so very true!

      • PastryGoddess

Oh my…would you like a lighter to go with drink

    • NDC_IPCentral

Have fun, boys, at the show and sigh at all the decoys – a travesty.  I’m enjoying your busy activities a bit south of me vicariously.  I don’t envy your scurrying around purposefully in all this humidity.  Make at least some of your hydration simple H2O, ‘kay?  ;-)

As to tonight’s episode, it competes with the DNC, and to be honest, I’m enjoying the goings-on in Charlotte so much that I may eschew PR in favor of FLOTUS’s spouse and the speeches leading up to his oration.  And in honor of that, and the fact that President Obama is a beer-drinker (another reason I’m in favor of his presidency and re-election), I’ll be having beer as my tipple tonight.

      Cheers, all!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I wouldn’t worry too much about his re-election.  I’m guessing he’s going to win by 4, based on polls from the last week (best case for Romney shows him leading by 3, most have him down 1 or 2).  Romney didn’t get much of a convention bump, which spells death for any campaign — if people don’t like you after a week of brainwashing by you and your people, they never will.  Obama, on the other hand, should get a very nice boost from his speech tonight and from the debates.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

SO funny, I left this thread and was reading an article on CNN that broke down the numbers exactly as you just described them, and then I come back and here they are! I am glad to hear the math is on our side, though I don’t usually read that stuff. I am the daughter of a retired Navy admiral, so my family coudn’t be more different than me politically, and I am always glad to get out from under them and hear the refreshing truth that we are strong, and support for the POTUS is not hard to find, despite my dad’s Glenn Beck book collection.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Gee, it’s nice to be appreciated!  I was going over polling data with my husband earlier and he told me I was a nerd.  He also asked how it was possible that I love polls and yet tried to set fire to my stats book more than once.  (It wouldn’t burn because it was from hell and so had evolved to be immune to fire…)

            • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

               No politics here, guys. Please.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Sorry!  I tend to lose my sense of restraint this time of year — the vestiges of a poli sci major long ago :)  I will refrain, and appreciate the philosophy!

Sorry, also. Sometimes forget that this is not a community for that stuff. Thanks for the reminder and have a wonderful night!

            • watchmeboogie

Thank you TLo! It’s nice to have one small sanctuary from all of the fighting and garment-rending (no pun intended).

          God, I hope you’re right!

The nice thing is that Lifetime re-airs tonight’s episode at 10:30 (and I think again after that), so you don’t necessarily need to miss one to watch the other. I’m kinda interested in watching the events in Charlotte, myself.

    • SapphoPoet

Well, the preview looks fun! I’ll be watching tomorrow morning before anyone gets up.

Iced water with lemon for me tonight–had treatment on Wednesday and am feeling a little queasy. Need to drink all the water I can get. On a positive note, I’m down 20 pounds since this madness started. This is kind of funny–I haven’t told anyone this, but I walked out of my house one morning to go out and my skirt actually slid right off me. Puddled right on the driveway. Luckily no one was around to see my mad dash back into the house for something that fit.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2SYNWNMDUBJBJL66NUNMGZEIDI AnonMom

I’ll be in the non-drinking corner with you…three months pregnant with my 1st (guess I should change my screen name.)  I only wish my skirt would puddle at myfeet.  Alas, I shall only get bigger and bigger over the next six months.

        • Anathema_Device

The lounge is great place to virtually drink. Good luck with your pregnancy. The middle trimester is much better than the first or last.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

           Well congrats!

        • Call me Bee

          Congrats on the impending child-unit!  They’re fun…most of the time…  :)

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

If you’d like one to practice on, I’ll be happy to rent you one of my oldest 3.  Hell, if you want a girl, I’ll pay you to take mine!  She’s been sick all week and I swear, any day now she’s either going to get better or dead, ’cause she is driving me on the very short stretch to Crazytown.

            • Call me Bee

Mine are both grown and gone, so it gets better!  LOL…  The elder never gave me much grief, but the younger…let’s just say there were times she was lucky to have survived… cuz I was on the verge of strangling her a number of times!

              Oh–sorry, AnonMom!  Really–kids are great!

            • formerlyAnon

Listen AnonMom – every word Call me Bee said is true. Every. word.

My kids are great, they were the center of my life for decades and still trump everybody else in a heartbeat. Millions of mothers would give their worldly goods to have such healthy, fortunate, capable children – and they even like me.

But my youngest went off to college 2.5 weeks ago and I wish it could have been two years ago. (She wishes it could have been 5 years ago, so I truly we’re actually in accord there.)

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My sister-in-law does not get stay at home moms (it’s a very complicated, very touchy issue for her) and she said something to me about it years ago to the effect of “Don’t you want a life?” My response: “I don’t just have a life.  I have two”  That was before the younger two were born.  Every decision I’ve made since the day I saw my oldest the first time was for them and about them.  I was 20 when Aidan was born, and flat broke, with no education to get a decent job.  And I would not change a single thing.

            • formerlyAnon

I was a failure as a stay-at-home mom, I need more externally imposed structure to my life. It was so-so in practical ways and terrible for my mental health. Fortunately, it was only a financial possibility for a few years and I got to try it and find that out.

But I lucked into many years of underemployment based mostly on the flexibility of the work hours – financially dicey but it gave me the time and brain space I wanted for my kids. Now, as some of my friends are early-retiring, I’m back to working flat out.

And, like you, I would not change a single thing about those decisions. Feel lucky I was able to make them.

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

          Congrats on the mini-baby!!

        • EveEve

Congratulations to you AnonMom!  Just don’t start weeping when someone gets auf’d!

        • SapphoPoet

          Congrats on your impending arrival!

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2SYNWNMDUBJBJL66NUNMGZEIDI AnonMom

Thanks for all of the well wishes.  Hubby and I are very excited!

Shannon Stewart – No need for practice…this may be my first, but certainly not my first time at the rodeo.  I have 7 nieces and nephews, 2 Godchildren, 2 much younger brothers taht I helped raise, and I worked at a daycare for several years.  I think I’m good.  :)

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Are you sure?  The girl is really cute… she’s also a bigger diva than JLo and she’s been home all week with a virus.  You could save a life… :P

      • Anathema_Device

Oh my god, what a story!

      • NDC_IPCentral

Hi, girlfriend – I can empathize with you on the weight loss.  I lost over 10 lbs as I got ill-er and ill-er, before I was diagnosed.  I was 22 lbs (from pre-illness) down right after my operation, but I have sort of settled at 10-12 down from that original weight, which I like.  Your skirt slide is quite the tale, so you must really be a beanpole, girl.  Hope you’re on 2x/day Zofran for the nausea; it really helped me.  I hope your side effects don’t get much more uncomfortable; you may have some pretty profound fatigue, too; rest! I’m thinking encouraging thoughts for you.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I found the Zofran did a great job keeping food down, though it in no way stopped me from WANTING to throw up.  (Though to be fair, I wasn’t on chemo; i was on it for hyperemesis gravidarum, which is ridiculously severe morning sickness — I actually ruptured blood vessels in my stomach from heaving.)  My father swore by eating a ton during chemo.  We’d go in for a treatment in the morning and in the 6 hours we sat there, I would have to go get him food 4 times — and not snacks, full freaking meals.  In between he’d nap, and then he’d wake up and eat again.  It was amazing.  I’ve seen wrestlers trying to go up a class who couldn’t pack that much food away!  And the shocking part was it worked!  He was never really sick to his stomach from it, though we had to be careful what we gave him because it was hard for him to swallow.

          • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

HUGE hugs to all three of you!  M’WAH!!!

            • SapphoPoet

              Thanks much!

          • SapphoPoet

Yes, eating helped until food stopped tasting good. :(

BUT! I am halfway through my chemo now, so that feels very good. Yay!

        • SapphoPoet

I am no beanpole; quite comfortably padded. :) Worst side effect at the moment is the dry mouth and bad taste. Also, food has started to taste not so good (hence the weight loss). I am tired, but I also have a toddler and work full time and do spin class 3x/week, so I’m no longer sure what’s making me tired! Actually, am headed off to bed pretty soon here. Need my beauty rest. ;)

          • NDC_IPCentral

I think my sense of taste is beginning, slightly, to return; the saliva-taste problem has ceased.  I’m 3 weeks from my last infusion, so soldier on, SapphoP, you’ll be better eventually.  Be prudent about the spin classes – you may wind up being low on energy as the chemo accumulates in your system.  Head the messages your body sends to you, my friend.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Seconded.  I know my dad always felt great the first 3 days after chemo, and did some serious harm trying to return to work (physical labor) immediately.

          • formerlyAnon

Sounds like you’re doing very well, but [from observation] there’s a line during chemo between continuing to do the things that feed your sense of well being, control, and normalcy and pushing yourself too hard.

Let me echo NDC_IPCentral: listen to your body and rest when you’re tired. Easier said than done, (like that ‘sleep when the baby does’ stuff people tell you) but you’ve already proven that you’re as tough and smart as you need to be in this fight

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Ugh, spin class!  Honey, if there is ever a good excuse not to have to endure the torture of spin class, this should be it!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Sweetie, I hope you’re doing better soon!

        • SapphoPoet

Drank a ton of water tonight and I do feel much better. Thanks much!

      • formerlyAnon

I hope you feel better soon – and that you can keep down enough to keep your nutrition up.   When you feel better, go buy one new outfit!

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, and try smoothies.  You can pack a lot of nutrition into them, especially with protein powder and a yogurt base.  It may not help you keep weight on, because they still have less calories than most meals, but at least you won’t have to worry about a vitamin problem.

    • MilaXX

Y’al just showing out this year! Seems like everything is coming up roses for you. Get some rest if you can. I’m sure we can mange amongst ourselves.

      • dress_up_doll

Yes, there’s a lot going on tonight. I’d almost forgotten about the VMA’s but I’m satisfied that I’ve already seen Rihanna perform and Zoe Saldana. Both looked beautiful. It’s also Fashion’s Night Out. I’m sure the boys are having an amazing time.

    • http://www.facebook.com/CatherineKatz Catherine Katz

Spoil away!  You don’t “know” who won, so I don’t care if I know who shows!!  Have fun!!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Everyone who’s still there tonight shows, so I don’t see how it spoils anything.  Yes, there’s always speculations based on the collections — “oh, he must be a finalist because his show looks expensive”, that kind of thing.  But as we all learned last year especially, the best collection not only does NOT always win, it sometimes doesn’t even show on the finale — like Laura Kathleen and Bert.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Bingo!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

My boss, the best boss ever, is retiring this week, and I have to go to his party tomorrow, so instead of getting tipsy and saying all kinds of inappropriate affectionate schmaltzy goodbyes then, I’ll just get my drink on tonight instead. I’m thinking Caucasians, since I’ve got a bottle of Kahlua to polish off. And to toast TLo with, since they are ON FIRE and TOTALLY DESERVE IT.

    • Anathema_Device

I’ve been recording PR and watching it over the weekends, as it is no longer “must see TV” for me. Also, tonight competes with Obama’s speech, so I’ll just pop in now, say “Howdy” and head out before I see too many spoilers!

Boy is this a lovely NYC spot. Hope you guys are enjoying yourselves!

    • Imasewsure

Thank god… an actual designer judge instead of a useless celebrity! Yeah – but I predict a low score on the what-the-judges-are-wearing contest this week… looks a little dark and drab (and drag for Heidi’s hair)

      • Call me Bee

Yes–and MK did not get the memo that it was stripes week…

Oh the amazing fashion blogger life!  As other have mentioned – rehydrate!
Gin and tonics here for the last hot days of summer in the fashion-starved Midwest.
thanks and congrats from this happy bitter kitten.

I do WANT the spoilers, TLo!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

The only time I can’t deal with spoilers is for sports — a baseball game just isn’t as fun if you already know who wins.

    • Call me Bee

Gentlemen!  What a lovely lounge, and I am so happy about all your fabulousness this week.  A book!  NY Times!  Fashion Week!  I can barely keep up it’s all so cool.  Looking forward to some serious Slavic ass-whoppin’ tonight.  I hope and pray Dimitry and Elena yell at each other in Russian.  That would be just plain awesome.
I’m having champagne with Kiltd, but I may need something stronger as the episode drones on, so keep the bottle of Stoli handy.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I would never in a million years unfollow you!  I’m so glad you’re having a fabulous time, and I freaking LOVE Lincoln Center!  My dad took me on many trips to NY when I was a kid, and we always saw the opera or the ballet at Lincoln Center.  So as I grew up and decided to move to NY, Lincoln Center was like my touchstone of the city – it’s still my favorite place.  So enjoy it, and blow it a kiss from Dad and me!

    • sockandaphone

at work we moved to a newer, bigger office! which meant hauling and unpacking all week long so Im one sore lady. I need something relaxing like a good wine…

    • l_c_ann

While we are waiting, may I ask you to join me in raising a glass to the memory of the late Peter Shelton, husband of Laura Benett, who was known on the PR design auctions as “Bad Daddy”?

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Yes, absolutely.  To Peter – a classy guy with a classy wife, and a talented architect.  He will be sadly missed by the PR bunch.

      • Call me Bee

Oh absoutely.  I rasie my glass to Bad Daddy–may he rest in peace.  “Puhka rahus”, Peter.

      • PastryGoddess

I’m raising a glass of wine in one hand and G&T in the other.  RIP Peter.  Laura, if you’re reading we love you and are thinking of you

Raising my glass to  “Bad Daddy’s” memory, and sympathy to Laura Bennett and their sons.

I didn’t know he had passed away.  Laura, if you’re reading this, I’m so sorry for your loss.  While most of us here may not know you personally, you have a great many admirers and virtual friends sympathizing.

      • Peeve

Ah, such a fabulous view!  Did anyone else see the comment in the New York Times this morning about “the interminable fashion parody that is Project Runway”? It opened a short article about the financial success of MIchael Kors.

    • PastryGoddess

Ok so do I wait 20 min before watching or start from the beginning.

      Decisions…Decisions…

Christopher, it’s a reality show.  You are subject to the whims of the producers, and after ten years of reality TV you should know this.  Roll with the punches and friggin’ deal with it.

    • alula_auburn

Elena also does not like kittens, or ice cream, or smiling.

That said, this is not why I watch PR.  I could decorate crappy t-shirts myself!

I’m not sure Elena likes any carbon based life form…

Oh Ven, why don’t you just quit now and save us the sour grapes?

    • PastryGoddess

Dear Natasha Fatale.  We know what you DON’T do.  How about you show us what you can do.  I mean really get the hell over yourself.

    • Joe J

That remark by Gunnar about Christopher MUST be tongue-in-cheek.  Because… seriously?  That remark couldn’t have sounded more ridiculous coming from Fran Drescher.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Designers whoring it out on the street? Fuck that noise.

      Also, poor Dmitry.

      • Stubenville

It’s Fashion Week – aren’t they supposed to be whoring in tents?  =)

    • Kimbolina

LOL, Christopher.  “How are we gonna DO this?”  With the fingers…   I have a juvenile mind, but I LOL’d.

    • Jasmaree

Okay, guys, I’m already lost. Why do Christopher and Gunnar hate each other? Is this one of those fake reality show feuds where they pretend to hate each other to get more screen time?

      • EveEve

        yes

      • PhillyJen

Also because they’re basically the same person.

    • Stubenville

      Team Eeyore!

Team Elena/Dmitry/Alicia’s stuff looks like Canal Street rejects. How could three designers produce such distinctly fugly stuff/

    • alula_auburn

Oh, it’s hard to tell if Gunnar is “sincere?”  Christopher, your crush is showing.  And it looks like you both belong in middle school.

eta: I think if Elena approached me on the street I would be terrified!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Gunnar and Christopher are a PR romance waiting to happen.  And Elena, my word, that woman is wound way too tight.

    • watchmeboogie

This is so freaking sad. I’m amazed none of them just walked off.

    • Jasmaree

If you can’t make good t-shirts, offer something else. Tim said that was perfectly acceptable.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Are they not allowed to mention Project Runway? I’d think that would be marketing magic.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Ohhh, this ain’t gonna be good.  Although, Christopher did just call Dmitry and Elena “Boris and Natasha”, so I have to give props for that!  But seriously – Dmitry/Elena/Alicia are in serious trouble with those bad looking shirts!

      • EveEve

        He stole that from Stubenville!

        • Stubenville

          [bows] Thank you.

Haha Stubenville! Great minds think alike! Costello-lite just channelled you!

      • Stubenville

        =)

    • Pennymac

Course, I’m a die hard fan. but you’d think folks would buy if they mentioned PR prominently?

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Gunnar did, but I didn’t hear any of the others mention it. It would be a good sales tactic!

    • MilaXX

I have to say I find Sonjia’s talking heads funny. I also think Elana might have been onto something by stating upfront how hideous the t shirts were. People would know they are trying to raise money and might buy out of pity.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I agree. It’s self-deprecating in a way that I might find kind of charming, if I were approached on the street.

        • MilaXX

Exactly, I’d laugh and buy something just to be nice. especially in NYC where it could be any of a zillion reality shows.

    • PastryGoddess

      Susan Fucking Lucci..in real life

    • PastryGoddess

      Oh god Dance Moms..whhhhhhhhy

    • Joe J

Oh good, now that “The Apprentice” is over we can get back to Project Runway.  And seriously, $500 is still pretty damn good if you’re only making two looks.

    • PastryGoddess

      Ha Dimitry! “Don’t lose it”

      • Sweetbetty

Yeah, I don’t think the producers will grant another challenge with more money like they did for that other person who lost her money.

    • alula_auburn

      haha Elena also hates navy.

    • StelledelMare

Okay I know we’re all tired of the “make a pretty dress” challenges and we all complain but for some reason it’s just now hitting me just how much these challenges are lacking in creativity. Whatever happened to avant garde or making outfits for figure skaters or making a new dress out of an old dress or making an outfit based on movie genres? And now it’s make 2 cohesive looks for fall. BORING

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Truly. It’s no wonder all the looks have been boring the last couple seasons.

      • Stubenville

Agree completely. Apparently B/M has all the creativity of a crate of rocks.

        • PastryGoddess

On behalf of all the rocks in the world I am insulted

      • EveEve

I’d settle for an “anything but black or gray, and no exposed zippers” challenge.  Or how about limiting them to sari fabrics?

        • StelledelMare

Now that is a challenge that I would love. I think there should just be an entire season in which they’re only allowed to use the colors of the rainbow regardless of what the challenge is.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I think that if they were given two days for most of the challenges, they’d have time.  I think these one day challenges are what keeps them from busting out with something really great.  By the way, do they have one or two days for this one?

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I agree-the number of one day challenges is killing whatever creativity these folks might have. It’s no wonder that they default to what they can do quickly.

    • Jasmaree

“Why don’t we get a few different colors and then come here and then decide later?”

      That’s a horrible idea.

      • Kimbolina

Seriously!  They’re just gonna blow money on all sorts of random fabrics that they might not even use?  Stupid!

      • MilaXX

seriously . Massive waste of time. Then you need to run back and get notions.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know, she’s gonna put them in the bottom!

    • Stubenville

      Pink for Fall? Really Ven?

    • alula_auburn

      Hi, Swatch!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Swatch’s appearance may well be the true highlight of this episode.

        • khh1138

With the little chewy toy!  Guh.

    • PastryGoddess

Hi Designers if yesterday wasn’t demoralizing enough, now you have to show and tell in front of the entire class.  AND you have to keep pretending like you all like one another as you fight over shitty design ideas and money.

      Make It Work!

    • ASK26

3 DESIGNERS and only 2 looks?    someone is going to be cut not for what they designed but for not being influential enough in the design

      • Stubenville

If they’re clever they’ll find a way to split up the duties – coat / top / bottom perhaps?

    • Joe J

Well, since we have Boris and Natasha, can we switch Christopher and Gunnar for Mr. Peabody and Sherman?

Although now that I think about it, Tim Gunn does have the glasses, the prim and proper attitude, the dry wit… my God, he IS Mr. Peabody.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        AWESOME!!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I would so watch “Fractured Fashion Tales” with Tim as Mr. Peabody and an animated talking Swatch as Sherman!

    • PastryGoddess

      Is Elena wearing a weave?

    • ASK26

really should be a top and a bottom (skirt or pants) unless the outer wear were not a coat but maybe ski wear?

    • MilaXX

Why is Christopher such a delicate little flower? and why have the editor made him the unofficial narrator? SHUT. UP. I’m so over the wide eyed wonderment look.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Oh, god, thank you!  He seems like a nice enough guy, but he’s so annoying!

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Costello-lite is SO appropriate for him. He might not annoy me as much as he does if we didn’t have to suffer through two full seasons of Original Flavor, but as it is? Ugh.

      • PastryGoddess

He really is Costello Lite no?

        • MilaXX

yup and I was over that the first time.

    • Stubenville

I think I need another Black Russian… or ten.

      • EveEve

I’m skipping the tonic and going to straight vodka shots

    • Pennymac

Waiting some what eagerly for the shrieking marmoset to begin her “I don’t like it, I don’t do that, I don’t work that way” shtick.

Also, anyone taking bets on how Ven incorporates his rose?

      • PastryGoddess

maybe in a belt this time?

        • Pennymac

          Nope, its the skirt. Wow.

    • Stubenville

      Team Eeyore!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

That has to be Dmitry, Elena and Alicia!

    • alula_auburn

Tim is very. . .stripey today.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I don’t know why, but Tim’s delivery of “speak to me, please!” just made me LOL.

      • MilaXX

very school teacher scolding the students.

        • CozyCat

I loved how in the early seasons he behaved more like a teacher….

    • Stubenville

      Oh Gunnar STFU.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Please,Please, STFU Gunnar.  We need a roll of duct tape or a tranquilizer gun for that boy.

    • Joe J

You know, I like Dmitry, but Gunnar kind of does have a point.

      • ASK26

         hehe  – ditto!

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

        Sadly, yes…

    • ASK26

as much as I like Dmitry’s stuff Gunnar had a point

    • watchmeboogie

      Buttresses. Oh, lol lol lol.

      • alula_auburn

I don’t think that’s usually what they mean by “architectural”!  Oh, honey.

      • Stubenville

        Flying buttresses if he’s auf’d…

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

ooh love dmitry’s dress on the mannequin.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Me too, but Tim hated it – that scares the crap out of me.

    • dress_up_doll

      Oh no, Dmitry.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Oh, god, Dmitry – Tim hates your look, just be careful.  He just looks so beaten down already.

    • Stubenville

Dear God  – PLEASE have the judges call out Ven on the runway this week for doing the same f-ing technique AGAIN.

      • MilaXX

Sadly his butt got saved by Tim’s critiques and the fact that his team told him the skirt was fug.

    • Kimbolina

      Ven seems strangely…cooperative today…?

      • Joe J

Maybe he didn’t say “we need to move forward” just now.  Maybe it was “we need to move to Ford”, as in “Betty Ford”.  Wherein they upped his dosage.

      • Jasmaree

They didn’t like his skirt. He’s no longer cooperating.

        • PastryGoddess

Apparently his programming only goes so far

    • PastryGoddess

      “A. POINT. OF VIEW”

      New buzz phrase

    • PastryGoddess

      Ven makes a duck face.

    • alula_auburn

It was uplifting?  Tim, you were troubled by practically everything!

    • PastryGoddess

Ven is very upset.  Can’t you tell.  very very upset

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Yes.  He is.

    • Pennymac

A silver bullet and a wooden stake!!!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

He is just awesome, I’m telling you!

        • unbornfawn

He is. We have to send him some more fan favorite votes!

      • alula_auburn

Not only a ballroom dancer/boss designer, he’s a VAMPIRE HUNTER.

Can he get any more awesome?

        • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

          I doubt it.

        • khh1138

If he starts singing at any point I will fall over dedd.

    • Stubenville

I’d love to hand Dimitri a stick.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

      horse tranquilizer

    • PhillyJen

Can Dmitry and Elena get their own show please? I will watch every episode.

      • BuffaloBarbara

I don’t think it would last long, what with one of them killing the other pretty fast…

    • PastryGoddess

      Elena speaks!  Take a drink

    • emily mcginnis

i laughed about the “silver bullet and stick” comment followed by the “we need a horse tranquilizer.” oh. my.

    • Joe J

As a video game nerd, I must award Gunnar several points just for making a “Legend of Zelda” reference.  Stop making me like you, you tit.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

LOL’ing at you calling someone a “tit.”

    • PastryGoddess

Tim’s very uplifting is everyone elses omgyousuckasapersondiediedie

    • Stubenville

      Is Christopher designing a bathrobe?

      • Pennymac

My mother would have called that trenchrobe “schlubby”

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Gunnar is going to get Christopher’s ass in gear.

      Um.

      Not touching that one.

    • ASK26

Just a thought – with one designer having immunity on a team challenge, do y’all recall anyone intentionally burying their team to get someone else kicked off?

      • EveEve

ooohhh what a deliciously evil thought!

    • jilly_d

      “Horse Tranquilizer” hahahahahHAHAHAHAHhahahahaha. BWAAAAHAHAHA.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

That was good, I have to give that one to him.  Costello-lite is full of the quips tonight!

    • MilaXX

One way monkey is upset no one wants another Marchesa-lite looks from him. Elana is a whack job, I’m beginning to worry if she’s bipolar.

      • Pennymac

Bipolar is too mild. She’s got a full on personality disorder.

    • ASK26

With the designers looking haggard, how much time does elena have – to do those eye lashes.  those have to be fake?

      • MilaXX

yeah they are fake, but if you are used to wearing them daily, it really doesn’t take much time. At this point it’s probably part of her makeup routine.

        • ASK26

then I need to learn how.   I have practically no eyelashes and they don’t get better with mascara.

          • MilaXX

it’s not hard, but it takes practice. When I first started it took me forever to get them on and then I might have a droopy lash. Now I can get them on in under 5 mins

    • PastryGoddess

Oh elena burns herself again.  Call the medics!

    • PastryGoddess

Elena “I’m just trying to help everyone be better” Shots all around

      • Joe J

Really.  Talk about your “physician, heal thyself” moments.

        • PastryGoddess

Pot and Kettle references may also apply

    • Maria Rosenfire

How can they have this many fashion designers in one room without a single lick of color sense?  “The most colorless season in the history of Project Runway!” (they would no doubt say if they had even an iota of self-awareness).

      • PastryGoddess

Mila would be happy? As would Gretchen yes?

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Every time Kooan pops up on that little fan favorite segment, I am sad. I miss you, Frokemon.

      • MilaXX

I hope T  & Lo see him in the tents.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I don’t know about the clothes this time, but I’m really starting to root for Fabio.  Which is weird, as he was the one I picked as the one who’d annoy me when we first “met” them, but he’s kind of growing on me.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I like Fabio too! And I usually roll my eyes SO HARD at the “freegan” types, too, but he’s really low-key and sweet.

      • PastryGoddess

        Like organic moss or mold?

    • Stubenville

Okay, who gets the electric blue pumps this week?

      • MilaXX

Hopefully they stay on the wall this week.

      • ASK26

whimper  I was so excited with my birthday gift    electric blue suede booties.    (I’ll have to hide from other BK’s when I wear them, like with my clear shoes which I love but are called hooker shoes her)  :o(

        • Stubenville

It’s like Where’s Waldo with those shoes every week. LOL

          • ASK26

             that is true  and funny

      • dress_up_doll

        Ahahaha! So true. So true.

    • Kimbolina

I really can’t stand Elena.  Every time she opens her mouth I want to smack her.

      • PastryGoddess

        Just take a drink instead

        • Sara__B

If Kimbolina followed your advice, she’s probably passed out on the floor by now.

    • EveEve

Oh dear Sonjia – I think Peter Pan wants his jacket back

      • Stubenville

It reminded me of Sister Bertrille’s headpiece from The Flying Nun..

        • EveEve

More like Kermit the Frog’s pointed neckline. Did you see the peplum on the olive green jacket?!!

    • Kimbolina

WTF, that white jacket in Ven’s group…  That collar…

    • Jasmaree

That white jacket from Ven’s team has a huge ridiculous collar.

    • alula_auburn

(Has anyone read Bellwether by Connie Willis?  The Ven/Melissa/Fabio collection is totally “postmodern pink.” If only Flip and her duct-tape brand were available to model.)

      /is a huge nerd

      • joything

OMG!  I have kept that paperback – it’s a favorite!  Example of how SF can actually be about scientists doing science and being dorky human beings at the same time, with science arising from dorkiness.  FLIP AND THE DUCT TAPE! Only, Desiderata would be on her team … poor thing …

    • dress_up_doll

Has fringe ever gone over well with the judges?

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Or with  anyone, ever, who is not Stevie Nicks?

        • PastryGoddess

I have Rhiannon in my head now.  Thanks Cassie

          • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Just doing my part for society

        • Pennymac

          Snort!

    • EveEve

If all Alicia has is those pants, she’s going home.

      • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

I dunno, they might ding Dmitry for that ugly-ass shawl/horse blanket.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Those pants are pretty assy. Why do people keep insisting that Alicia makes good pants?

    • PastryGoddess

Elena is 1/2 way through a meltdown.

Double shots just for the heck of it

    • Pennymac

Abby Lee Miller is a toad.

    • MilaXX

OM Geee they are giving that horrid Dance Mom woman another show?

      • Stubenville

They should give her a prison sentence for child abuse.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I watched that once for about 10 minutes before I couldn’t take anymore of the screaming.

        • MilaXX

I watch a lot of reality tv, but I can’t take these shows with kids. This one and that Toddlers & Tiaras ish, not to mention that Honey Boo boo are all No’s in my book.

    • jilly_d

      Truth!

    • PastryGoddess

OMFG Abby Lee Miller gets a new show!

I need a drink stat.  BARTENDER!

    • Jasmaree

Oh, Heidi, what are you wearing?

      • Peeve

That was one fugly dress! It might have been okay without the pink foufarol on it…

    • alula_auburn

Do Heidi’s boobs have a face in that dress?!?

    • Stubenville

Why is Heidi wearing a shower curtain?

    • PastryGoddess

Maybe we should all take shots of that ZzzQuil stuff.

    • PastryGoddess

I watch project runway and I think HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

    • emily mcginnis

Heidi’s girls are looking low. either the print on that dress is doing it or she needs some support.

      • PastryGoddess

I’m thinking it’s the print.  she looks like she has a bra on underneath

    • Stubenville

      Those darts look ODD

      • Pennymac

        Like fins.

      • ASK26

I don’t love them but I thnk it was Korto that did ones I did think were much better than Tim thought

    • Stubenville

      Joan Crawford shoulders?

    • jilly_d

HEIDI: WHAT THE CHRIST ARE YOU WEARING? It looks like Beetlejuice ate Mary Katranzhouhoweverthefuckuspellit.

    • Jasmaree

Elena’s coat is horrid and Alicia is invisible in this challenge.

    • alula_auburn

Gee, Elena, maybe you should have been fixing the collar instead of “helpfully” advising everyone else and laughing like a loon.

    • Pennymac

Did Dread lok chick ONLY make the pants?

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Yup.

    • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

      I LOVE Sonjia’s jacket, I really do!

    • Stubenville

Ugh – chops the model up.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

      love sonjia’s jacket

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I think she deserves to win this one.

    • Stubenville

      Schlubby bathrobe indeed.

      • Pennymac

Not as bad as I first thought, though. I liked the uneven hem. Maybe I’m coming down with something? But I still insist it should be called a trench robe.

      • MilaXX

What’s even funnier is his coat looks much better than Elana’s.

    • Stubenville

Ugh – boring mess from Ven & company

    • PastryGoddess

      The flying buttresses don’t suck!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

No, they don’t – I really love his dress.

        • Call me Bee

Agreed.  The dress turned out way better than I though it would.

    • ASK26

sonjia …. the scarf can look like it is meant to hide a bad collar

    • Stubenville

Assymetry or top caught in her nickers?

    • Jasmaree

That definitely doesn’t look like $800 worth of clothes, but I think they’re safe.

      • Joe J

Honestly, I don’t see any appreciable increase in quality from the previous challenges.  And with their budget this week, I damn well expected it.  Boo on all of them.

    • Kimbolina

That skirt is ugly.  You could make that with two yards of fabric and an elastic waistband in like 10 minutes.

      • MilaXX

In home ec in the 7th grade!

      • http://www.facebook.com/janet.selman Janet Selman

Could? Did!  First, in sewing class in junior high. Most recently, as a costume for the renaissance faire.  At least the lengths on mine are more flattering.

    • PastryGoddess

Elena is 3/4 of the way through a meltdown.

      Take a drink!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Ohhhh, we still have the runway to watch her flip out!

    • MilaXX

      okay impressions:
Alicia/ etc– Okay. That coat is not that great. Nothing impressive.
Sonjia/ etc..- Love the first look!Christopher’s coat isnt as bad as I thought it would be. Overall I like this collection.
Ven/etc….- hate Ven’s skirt.  Not loving those brown pants.

Winner for me is Sonjia team.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Yup, they won.

    • alula_auburn

That knee-length skirt in gray and washed out pink with the weird jacket is youthful?

      • http://www.facebook.com/janet.selman Janet Selman

Youthful, as in the colors remind me of when I was young in the 80s?

    • Call me Bee

I was gone for a bit, but I did hear “silwer boollit and vooden stick” pass from Dimitry’s lips.   I die!!

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Yes you did, and it was amazing!

      • Stubenville

Followed by Gunnar calling for a horse tranquilizer.

    • PastryGoddess

Is that model wearing GREEN suede shoes?

    • Blondage

Is it just me, or are most of the looks boring this week?

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

As weird as Heidi’s dress is, I’m more concerned about the hair and makeup. Why does she look so fried? She looked so pretty when she presented the challenge, so…what gives?

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Her makeup looks really orangey this week!

      • MilaXX

I don’t mind the dress, but I think her hair looks like she just removed the weave and just washed and blow dried her hair. Makeup looks a little washed out though.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

elena’s coat was a big fail–too long and draggy–but alicia will get auf’d

    • dress_up_doll

      I looove Sonija’s jacket!

    • Pennymac

That “pink” that Vens team chose is depressing. Do you think Heidi will say it’s sad?

    • Pennymac

Okay, Just changed my mind about the schlubby trench robe. Its yucky.

    • PastryGoddess

Ok All we are in a commercial break.  Please go and get at least ONE full bottle of your drink of choice.

The shit flinging during the critiques will necessitate an intravenous line STAT!  Bonus shots for unintelligible comments due to russian accents

      • Stubenville

        Subtitles! WE NEED SUBTITLES, DAMMIT!

    • MilaXX

Gunnar is gong to win simply for doing the lion’s share, but I FLOVE Sonjia’s jacket. Please give her the win.  Gunnar’s head will explode!

      • PastryGoddess

Yes!  I will buy you drinks from now and forever if that happens

    • ASK26

what the hell is that cut/seam in Alicia’s top?

      • Stubenville

        Kors wants to know, too.

    • ASK26

      Anna is NOT happy

      but Heidi is

    • Jasmaree

I feel bad for Alicia right now.

    • alula_auburn

      What is Alicia wearing?

      LOL, Dmitry took over?

I can’t even tell if she’s complaining she didn’t get enough or had to do too much.

      Heidi is loving the drama.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

        Yeah, what is that denim…jumpsuit…thing?

        • Sweetbetty

Coveralls is the first thing that came to my mind; like the ones I see the guys on the garbage trucks wearing except that their’s aren’t capri length.

      • dress_up_doll

Alicia: I know, right? I was going to comment that she should be auf’d just for wearing that acid-washed, jumpsuit alone.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I know!!!  DMITRY took over?  On what planet?

    • Pennymac

coffins for a vampire! Hahah Dimitry, I’m in LOVE!

    • Stubenville

Gunnar is clearly tickled bu Boris and Natasha bickering.

    • Joe J

I am immediately going to start practicing saying “Well!” the way Ms. Garcia does.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

        So beautifully dismissive!

    • Stubenville

Give Boris and Natasha sticks and we’d have a Punch and Judy show. =)

      • Call me Bee

Be sure they are vooden sticks!

    • MilaXX

I want Elana & Dmitry to start speaking to each other in their native language. Are they from the same place?

      • Call me Bee

No.  Dimitry is Russian, Elena is Ukranian.  Languages are similar, but not the same.

        • Katy Carroll

Given their ages, though, I’m sure they were both raised understanding Russian, too.  It’s lessened in the last 15 years or so, as each country has made a push to return to THEIR language, but most former-Soviet countries are bilingual.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dana-Cole/100000670383943 Dana Cole

Actually, Dmitry is from Belarus.  But as Katy has said, it’s very likely that they both understand and talk Russian given their ages.  I seriously would pay good money for Dmitry to start cussing Elena out in lovely lovely Russian, though.

        • MilaXX

          oh cousins, not neighbors.

    • PastryGoddess

      OMG look at Elena’s face

    • alula_auburn

ahahaha I kinda love Nina and Michael right now calling Elena on her voluminous quotes.  eta: lol “coats,” although she does have a lot to say!

LOL, the “fluttering exhale!” the captions promised me last week.

    • MilaXX

      Alicia is getting auf’d

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        I hope so.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

God, Elena is just the worst. Please send her home so we don’t have to listen to her anymore.

On the other hand, Alicia has shown herself to be faily useless thus far, so they’ll most likely send her off.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

She is just hateful, and Alicia is no better.

      • CozyCat

One thing I will say in Elena’s favor:  she was critical of her own work when it came out.  So, while she’s incredibly critical of everyone else’s work, she doesn’t spare her own.

      • Sweetbetty

         Plus, she provides no drama.

    • emily mcginnis

i also don’t see how the fact that Dimitry making a dress and then throwing together an ugly shawl is hogging all the work.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

        Exactly.

I can’t believe they BOTH just threw Dmitry under the bus!  I knew Elena would, but Alicia?   Why, because they’re trying to get rid of the guys?  Bitches!  Now he’s probably going home because of them!

      • MilaXX

Judges ain’t sending Dmitry home. Either Alicia or maybe Fabio goes. My money is on Alicia. She has done nothing of note to date.

ooooooh Dimitry got thrown under the bus? I guess she felt she didn’t have to live with Dimitry so she could throw him under the bus.

    • Jasmaree

The judges loved the coat. Why would you pick that as the weakest garment?

      • alula_auburn

Because he’s diverting attention from a skirt so sad and frumpy I could make it?

        • Jasmaree

Still could have gone for the sheer, skin tight nothing top. Would have hit the same target without making him look stupid.

    • ASK26

My only  complaint about Sonjia’s is that the arms look too narrow – but the fact that I frequently cannot get jackets that fit my arms and when they fit my DD’s but not my arms, I am ticked

    • Maria Rosenfire

I’m so sick of the judges making people throw each other under the bus. Isn’t it their job to decide who should go home, instead of beating up on the designers until they concede?

      • Peeve

That was exactly what I was saying at home. Aren’t THEY the judges? I know that Heidi makes them pick for the drama of it, but I kinda hate her for it.

      • NCDFan

They do this only to foster more resentment in the next episode. If someone says you should go, you will remember that.

    • alula_auburn

Ugh, why are they buying into Elena’s Dmitry-as-dictator narrative?

          • alyce1213

I know this is not where you’re coming from, but a lot of his detractors refer to him as “Barry,” in a disparaging way. That’s prolly what’s weirding some people out when they hear you say it, even though you mean it affectionately.

          • MilaXX

FYI just found out about her nails. A Wall Street Journal reporter confirmed the answer with the White House. Michelle was wearing (drum roll, please) the Artistic Nail Design Soak Off Colour Gloss in “Vogue.”

The bad news: It’s a kind of polish mostly available in salons only. The good news: Salons are stocking up on it. It’s that gel nail treatment that they set under a UV light

    • Call me Bee

TIM GUNN FOR THE MF-ING WIN! “Homage to menstruation” indeed!

      • BuffaloBarbara

I can’t wait to see what inspires that–good editing on the promo, there.  Michael’s “It looks like Pac-Man is eating her crotch” is another print I’m just waiting for.

    • EveEve

“Homage to a menstrual cycle”  I can’t believe Tim Gunn of all people would say that!

    • Joe J

Oh, I’m on pins and needles to see the Pac-man crotch next week.

      • Introspective

You and me both! Lady Marmalade is like acid with his tongue this season. When he said Elena looked like she made her coat with her feet I snorted. Pac Man feasting on crotches?? Priceless. Im suspecting its the print Christopher made that gets that one but whomever gets it will definitely have a hard time making a case for their garment on the runway…

    • dress_up_doll

Wow. I actually agree with the judging this week. Next week looks like a doozy.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I think they made the right call on the auf, but Fabio should thank his lucky stars that Alicia apparently got a case of the boreds.  I do like Fabio, but that coat and the shirts were sad.

On the other hand, I don’t get the love for Christopher’s coat on the winning team.  Sleeveless coats are already an odd idea (I generally pull on a coat because, you know, it’s cold out, and my arms are not immune), but that one was weirdly shapeless as well.  But Sonjia’s jacket?  To DIE.

      • l_c_ann

Christopher didn’t try to interface the collar (not that he was the only one interfacing-less) tonight.

Surely Michael knows that the difficulty of working with camel’s hair depends on the weave that’s used.  Maybe Christopher chose less than wisely.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I don’t think there’s any way they’d have ever auf’d Fabio over Alicia.   Alicia’s designs have been as exciting as cord wood since day one.  I’m actually surprised she lasted this long. Fabio at least designs pretty things at times.

      • SewingSiren

That Maude vest was a mess.

        • 3boysful

That’s EXACTLY who he was designing for–you nailed it!  (Although he would have no clue who Maude was, I’m sure.)

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

I didn’t think I’d say this, but I’d have awarded Gunnar the win. His dresses were sharp, graphic, and kind of edgy. He’s not so pesky anymore, either, now he’s shed his poseur thing. As for Alicia… man, I dunno, for all the talk of Ven’s robotic affect, that gal’s DRY.

      • dharmabum8

        Same re: Gunnar ftw.

    • dharmabum8

I think Dmitry might be my favorite personality on this show since Jay. Glad he also happens to be very talented, too, and thus not a one way monkey, of course, but the deadpan humor kills me. Seriously, I die every time he speaks.

      • Jasmaree

I think I enjoy Sonjia and Gunnar a little more. Gunnar, once he drops the bitchy cry for attention, is a total sweetheart with a sassy side and comes up with some great little quips. Sonjia just seems so genuine and also has a line or two that stands out.

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I was sad to see Gunnar go back to bitchy tonight.  I’ve really been enjoying his sweeter side the past few weeks.

        • MilaXX

Sonjia has been killing it  in her talking heads. I love the gal.

          • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Me too!  When she said she never saw such “homeless looking tee shirts” as Elena’s/Dmitry’s/Alicia’s, I thought I would die!

            • MilaXX

no  the remark she said about Ven last week is what cemented my love of her

        • dharmabum8

Eh. Sonjia’s look is more interesting than her personality and Gunnar is alternately sassy-adorbs and sassy-annoying.

        • Sweetbetty

Sonjia’s headwraps bother me; they look a little Aunt Jemimah.  And why is she always on the tables?  Every episode she’s sitting, kneeling, crouching, reclining, or somehow on the table.  I know she’s short but there have been other shorties there who managed to keep both feet on the floor.  But she does seem like a good, genuine person with some solid design talent.

    • SewingSiren

Well I agree with the win more or less. Sonjia’s jacket was beautiful. Gunnar’s dresses were very pretty too. I hated the vest (not a coat ) that Christopher did, it was a total mess.

The auf’ was a scam. The Dmitry , Elena, Alicia team was the clear middle. Dmity’s dress was beautiful, but he should have kept the red accent on the cut outs. Elena’s coat was better than Christopher’s . Alicia’s pieces were clearly support pieces, but were fine and nobody picked her for the auf.  When will they learn just to keep their mouths shut for that question. The judges never take the designers opinion for consideration of the auf.

Team Melissa, Venn, and Fabio was the clear bottom. With Fabio’s coat being the worst piece. They were never going to send any of those designers home. Alicia never had a chance.

      • EveEve

those weren’t red accents – that was the red guide tape on the dressmaker model. but I agree a red accent would have been really nice on that dress.

        • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Yeah, that’s true.  It would have been really sharp.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

But here’s the thing – I love Dmitry to bunches, but my boyfriend has GOT to do something other than a beautifully fitted dress.  He has to, or he’s in big trouble.  I hate to say it, but Nina was right – they’ve seen nothing but beautifully fitted dresses from him the past four challenges.  He’s gonna get into trouble if he doesn’t wow the judges, like, next week!

        • SewingSiren

I agree. He had made a sheath style dress for every challenge except the Lexus one. Most have multiple seams, and or cut outs and exposed zippers.  I would like to see something else too.

          • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I mean, as of tonight, it’s a given – he’s showing at Fashion Week, no matter what happens to him in the competition.  But I want him in the final three, and it makes me nervous that they just called him out tonight for exactly what we’ve been saying.  He does beautiful gorgeous dresses, but it’s the same beautiful gorgeous dress, and it’s going to piss them off.

          • kismet026

And in the Lexus challenge, he was in a team with Melissa, who has shown a flair for the dramatic. After watching both of them in the past weeks, it seems clear to me that Melissa’s influence pushed it to a different level. She tends to go dramatic, sometimes to a fault, and Dmitry tends to keep it simple. Those two meeting in the middle resulted in a beautiful dress. But I’ve yet to see Dmitry, on his own, step out of his comfort zone.

        • MilaXX

and I really wish they would understand that a bit of color will grab more attention than week after week of drab neutrals and black.

        • dharmabum8

On one hand, one or two of those dresses deserved a win and didn’t get it, but on the other hand, he has to know by now that the judges are only going to give him a winif he shocks them with something unexpected. Unfair, but it is what it is.

          • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Exactly, totally!  I’ve been saying that for a couple of weeks now – he was totally robbed on the candy challenge, the Emmy challenge, and yeah, the L&T challenge.  But he has to shock the judges in a good way because the rest is looking the same. But on the other hand – god, I loved his dress tonight!

            • dharmabum8

Yeah, it’s hard to break through to the top tier when the judges have pencilled you into the second tier. Jay did it when he even shocked himself with the Chrysler dress, which was the softer side of Jay. I can’t think of anyone else….maybe Chris March after he came back? The judges do have a point that he needs to show versatility, but then again almost any Dmitry dress beats pretty much any of the other designers’ dresses this season.

            • CozyCat

Yeah, Chris March did it first in the Hershey challenge, when he showed he wouldn’t  do a parade float, and then, in the collaboration with Christian.
Dmitry blew it here by not insisting that he do the jacket.

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

I don’t think there was any way he *could* insist with The Crazed Jacket Queen on his team.  He tried to get along with her as best as he could, and look at how badly it went anyway.  If jackets are her specialty, she’d have killed him if he so much as suggested it.

            • MilaXX

He needs to do a pair of pants and a nice top. He’s starting to look like as much of a one way monkey as Ven

            • Introspective

I would have rocked the SHIT out of the dress Dimitry made tonite. End of story. Wishing I had it for date nite with my hubby tom.

Say what you want about the same dress on his end. If its a damn good dress women will buy it. If Alicia however makes wonky clothes week after week even if shes a smidge better than Fabio, he has made winning standout garments while she has been reaponsible for forgettable flotsam and jetsam. And like flotsam and jetsam she needed to float away on the nearest tide.

              Bye girl.

            • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

True, true.  He makes gorgeous things, and he’s the best one there – I do honestly think he leaves the rest in the dust.  But the judges want variety, and that’s what he has to give them.  It’s not up to us – if it was, if WE were voting, Dmitry would have won about four challenges by  now. They’re the ones he has to impress.

          • MilaXX

Also he doesn’t surprise them. The judges expect him to make a well made dress, with a little detailed interest. That won’t get him auf’d but it won’t get him a win either.

      • MilaXX

Buy again this is where the judges taking the sum total of the designers work into account comes into place. Alicia has been a nothing designer all season. She had yet to make her mark and design anything even slightly interesting. The excuse was tepid but the auf was deserved.

      • Sweetbetty

“Dmity’s dress was beautiful, but he should have kept the red accent on the cut outs.”
At first I thought the red was part of the dress and was disappointed to see it gone on the runway but now I realize the red was that tape they use to mark the design lines on the dress forms.

    • Thathoodwink

We  started the show with the producers trying to get more mileage out of this Gunnar/Christopher feud, which only amounted to two talking head segments. There was no sign of feuding once the actual show got underway.

We ended the show with a little announcement in the bottom left of the screen that Elena was winning in the Fan Favorite contest. The more insane her membrane gets, the more votes she gets.

    • BobStPaul

The two most shocking things about this episode were that they considered Chris’ ill-conceived coat (and I’m being generous calling it a coat) to be good and that they actually thought Elena’s horribly constructed coat was better than Dmitry’s outfit.  They actually seemed to be buying into Elena’s comments about Dmitry’s controlling the group.  While Alicia clearly deserved the auf – how did she manage to last this long? – I’m not sure how much more of Elena I can take without abandoning the show.  Continuing on with viewing it may depend on the quality of the collections we see from Fashion Week.

      • MilaXX

i fear we have already seen what we will see from Elana for Fashion week. An entire collection that looks like out takes from the Scream video.

      • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

That killed me that the judges actually believed her that Dmitry tried to take over the group, when it was clearly Elena doing so.

do this. I feel like it’s a big waste of my time. And the designers, for sure.  What was the point?  Who can sell?
Maybe,… but it’s also going to depend mostly on who they happen to run into; who’s got cash, who’s willing to spend it on crap,
      and who doesn’t want anything to do with random crazy ass designers in the street.  I’m surprised anyone got over 50 bucks;
how many hours were they out there?

I completely agree that the first part was an utter waste of time and pointless. I tuned into the DNC instead.  I thought it was pure producer fantasy that a team could beg $800 on the streets of NYC from a few hours of selling a junky t-shirts and trinkets.

I know there’s a general love for Dmitry around here, and a general distaste for Elena – so it’s not surprising that when the two of them are at odds, Dmity’s side is taken here and Elena’s the villain. And I get that – but some of the things said about Elena I think are a bit overboard. I don’t think her behavior has been egregious at any point except for the first team challenge. I know Dmitry is charming and more passive than Elena, but I don’t think Elena is a bad person or that she’s necessarily wrong. I think both of them were at fault in this episode, but Dmitry is capable of coming across likable even when he’s in the wrong due to his charm and wit. We only see what the editors show us, but there are signs that Elena’s not as bad as she is perceived here. She seems close with Gunnar, and seems to have actual friendships with some of the other designers. She and Alicia seemed to honestly appreciate each other. It saddened me to see posts saying Alicia could only side with Elena because the girls are trying to get the guys out, or that Elena’s tears must be fake. When it seemed Gunnar was out last week, Elena seemed the most upset, and then the most overjoyed when he was safe. She also does seem to be respected as a designer – many people have commented that she is a strong designer, even those who aren’t fond of her. She was very professional and positive in the “real women” challenge. I think Elena is likely a competent and professional designer in the real world, with a strong personality that – under the conditions of the show – causes her to act out more than she would normally. But she still seems like a good person underneath it all, who doesn’t deserve to be accused of having serious mental disorders that don’t apply, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

But with all due respect, at least about Alicia, the girls have been *very* vocal about wanting to get the guys out just because they’re guys.  They don’t have anything against any specific male designers – they just keep talking about “getting some of these guys out”, and I don’t really think that’s fair.  I”ve heard it from Alicia, from Elena, from Sanjia and from Melissa – all the remaining girls have talked about it.  So I do actually think that it was two issues for Alicia – one, she’s been just as vocal about getting the guys out, and two, because I think she knew what it would be like back at the girl’s apartment if she went after Elena on the runway.

I don’t completely disagree with you… Surely some of what we’re seeing of Elena’s personality is sharpened by editing. But I’m not sure her relentless negativity and aggressiveness can be created wholesale from editing. It doesn’t make her a bad person at all, she’s probably fun to hang out with, but she seems to bring a difficult, stubborn energy into the workroom. I’d have a beer with her gladly, but if I had to work with her I’d drink both the beers.

Editing, editing. I agree with you. Elena has been given the bad girl edit. I’ve been looking for clues and, while she is a PAIN to work with, she seems to be a caring person.

And of course there’s the editing, which painted Elena as Cruella de Vil’s evil sister last night.

I’m beginning to think that Dmitry’s signature look is a DRESS.  Period.  Did you hear how quickly he said “I’ll do a dress” when they started dividing the work?  And this week’s entry had so little going for it.  He’s turning into the one-way monkey.

Alicia should’ve gone home ages ago.

Because the emphasis was on outerwear, I get the Sonjia win.  However, the neckpiece and the dress that Gunnar made was the perfect complement to the jacket (I thought the ensem was stunning).  I wish they’d given the win to both.

Anna Sui had great critiques about getting the best out of each other.  Really good advice.

Christopher’s “coat” baffles me in the same
way puffy vests do: When do you ever think “Gosh, it’s cold out there but I only want my torso to be warm today?”. I don’t get it.
      Sonjia’s jacket was killer.
Elena…oh Elena. I think she has just decided to not like anything anyone else does and just whine and bitch about it. Dmitry has sunk to her level now and it’s just painful to watch.

I know quite a few people who like vest coats. They claim that a full coat is too hot especially when shopping and going in and out of doors, but a vest coat keeps their core warm in between stores without being too hot while in stores.

        • http://www.nahuli.blogspot.com cjcris23

Clearly people buy them. I just have never understood. I grew up in Wisconsin and there was never a time I felt that need. Now I live in Berkeley and my four year old daughter has 3 vests hanging in her closet with tags on them (all gifts), because again I can’t figure out a time (especially here) when I would want just her torso to be warm:)

Perfect for Fall weather. Maybe not appropriate for a Wisconsin winter, but you really don’t get cold in them.

          • ThaliaMenninger

There are times when I’m wearing something with bulky sleeves (like a thick sweater or a blazer) and it’s uncomfortable to stuff my arms into a winter coat. Down vests or this kind of coat would be great for me. I never understood why the norm was to bundle yourself up like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man above the knee and leave your head uncovered or your legs in one thin layer. Legs are like arms, after all. Why pack arms in multiple layers but your legs in just tights or just pants? (And I live right below you in IL.)

      • MilaXX

I have a puffy vest. I wear it to the gym in the winter. If it’s really cold I’ll wear a hoodie underneath, but really the vest is perfect for those in and out of the car days or even running errands. It seems weird, but it works.

We wear them a lot here in the South, where the winter isn’t usually very cold.  (Can’t recall the last time I wore my winter coat.)  As NCDFan says below, much more comfy when going between in- and out- doors.

        • Sweetbetty

I’m the opposite of most people.  First of all, I’m one of those types who is always too warm so it takes a lot for me to want to wear any more layers.  Where I mind the cold most is the back of my neck and in my shoulders, though, so what works for me is a shawl or something similar.  If I put on a sweater or hoodie or something like that my core gets too hot and I sweat and get cranky, but if I can pull something around my shoulders I’m in good shape.

      Several random morning-after thoughts:

Funny how this kind of became an outerwear challenge, even tho it was pitched as Fall collection.

I had been thinking how ridiculous it was that no one ever makes anything but “pencil skirts,” then Ven came up with his overly full dirndl.  That monstrosity aside, how about we try an A-line, or a gored panel.  Most of these collections could have been improved with a cute wrap in some gorgeous print.  Someone could’ve chosen a bazillion dollar fabric and only needed a yard or so.

What GREAT lines were uttered last night!  “We need a silver bullet and a wooden stake” slayed me (but Snape, honey, she’s a witch, not a vampire), and that was only one of several.

After reading these comments, I have no idea how Elena managed to get voted “fan favorite” in the Lifetime poll. I guess the people who vote on those things must really like cray-cray.

      • EveEve

I thought I read somewhere that it is based on how many Twitter mentions the contestants received.  If that’s the case, it’s easy to see why some of the contestants are playing up the cray-cray.  Especially if there is some kind of financial reward for being voted “fan favorite.”

Yeah- we got to see Swatch (dog) !!! Yeah! :)

Oh, that shot of the rooftop bar is so gorgeous! I don’t drink much any more but I am there! Even if I am seeing it at 8:30 am!
