New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Front Row

Posted on September 11, 2012

Time once again to assess the shoved and the frustrated, darlings. We’re tired, so this is all you’re getting in the way of an introductory paragraph.

Carlos Miele Spring 2013 Show

Daisy Fuentes

Could’ve used a belt, but that’s a pretty sharp look.

Kelly Bensimmon

The dress is all right, but the shoes are hiddy.

Paula Abdul

Very tiny and very fragile in person, which is probably not a surprise to anyone. The dress is cute, but it’s too short and we’re not sure what to think of the shoes.

Vanessa Williams

Carolina Herrera Spring 2013 Show

Bianca Jagger

Love the shoes, but not the white hose with it.

Ivanka Trump

Killer look.

Julliane Hough

Hate the hair. Great dress, but obviously way too long.

Chado Ralph Rucci Spring 2013 Show

Carmen Dell’Orefice

You guys. We got to speak to this exquisite creature. And let this be a style lesson to you all. She was sitting down, just reflecting the light in that Carmen Dell’Orefice way, when we asked her for a picture. Now, this is a woman who absolutely never minds having her picture taken because after all, it’s been her life’s work. She immediately said yes in the friendliest manner possible and then said “Wait! You’re going to want to get the back.” She grabbed the hand of the man guarding her and all 82 years of her struggled to get out of her seat. But when she was upright, her supermodel switch turned on and she was suddenly ageless and luminous. Life Lesson? If you want the world to see you, get the hell up out of your chair, even if you have to struggle to do it; even if you have ask for help up.

We adore you, Carmen.

And yes, the back of this coat was gorgeous, with an applique in the center of the back. We were too in awe to get a decent shot of it, though.

Martha Stewart

Check Miss Thing out, showing off the gams!

DKNY Spring 2013 Show

Ashley Greene

Holland Roden

Is it us, or could she play Christina Hendricks’ daughter convincingly?

Kelsey Chow

Lianne La Havas

Louise Roe

We chatted briefly with Louise and sorry to say, we did not like this outfit at all. It’s true that there are tiny patches of pale pink in the top, but not enough to justify that skirt.

Donna Karan Spring 2013 Show

Ashley Greene

Bernadette Peters

Serving. But we hate the shoes.

Rachael Taylor

Diane von Furstenberg

Annasophia Robb

Julliane Hough

Andy Cohen and Sarah Jessica Parker

Love the dress.

Emerson Spring 2013 Show

Crystal Reed

Eric West

India de Beaufort

Herve Leger Spring 2013 Show

Daisy Fuentes, Odette Annable, and Petra Nemcova

Lela Rose Spring 2013 Show

Lauren Conrad

Louise Roe

She’s making it work.

Mandy Moore

Mariska Hargitay

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2013 Show

Odette Annable

Padma Lakshmi

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2013 Show

Katharine McPhee and Louise Roe

Sami Gayle

Reem Acra Spring 2013 Show

Tinsley Mortimer

Even though we’ve seen it on plenty of celebrities, we still love this dress.

Timo Weiland Spring 2013 Show

Annasophie Robb

Kinda mature looking for Baby Carrie Bradshaw.

Y-3 Spring 2013 Show

David Beckham

Skinny bitch.

Natasha Bedingfield

Zac Posen Spring 2013 Show

Gina Gershon

When did she become such a Grande Dame?

Kelly Osbourne and Lourdes Leon

You couldn’t pay us to ride an elevator with these two.

  • Oh my God, Carmen Dell’Orefice. GODDESS. I WORSHIP.

    • Carmen Dell’Ofierce!!

      • butterflysunita

Just amazing.  After I saw her photo, I couldn’t even look at any others.  These younger women just fade into the background next to her.  True presence and beauty!

        • Cathy S

I had to scroll back up to look at her again. She’s just spectacular.

    • Amy Ellinger

agreed. Simply awe-inspiring, semi-otherworldly.  You just can’t fake that bone structure, and carriage.

    • For the past five minutes I’ve been trying to mimic her posture and the way she is ever-so-slightly lifting her arm… It looks so effortless, so natural, but for the life of me I can’t get it right.

      And I’m 27.

      • You made me scroll back up to check (although it was a pleasure to look at her again and again!) and I think I’ve got something! I think she’s resting her wrist or the very base of her hand on her hip. It’s so graceful, especially when scrolling back through and comparing the popular “hand on hip” pose which can look: bitchy (Ashley Greene), patronizing (Louise Roe), eager (India de Beaufort) and over-eager (Lauren Conrad), but neither “graceful” nor “ladylike”.

        • Call me Bee

A great lesson learned.  I’ll have to try this at the next event/wedding/cocktail party I attend.

    •  My jaw dropped and I couldn’t stop staring at that picture. Just absolutely stunning! I wish I work a shot 1/100 as well.

      • LJCdoc

I know!  I usually scroll through these posts pretty fast, but I was compelled to stop and stare at the fabulousity. they don’t make em like that anymore!

    • insertcleverbit

I watched the HBO special on Super Models, she was just so fantastic.  Highly suggest watching it.

      • I’ve had this saved on my TiVo for awhile. I didn’t realize she was in it. Now definitely going to watch it asap.

    • AudreysMom

“If you want the world to see you, get the hell up out of your chair,
even if you have to struggle to do it; even if you have ask for help up.”

      I’m making the t-shirts now.

Thank You for this. Consider my year made.

    • Call me Bee

Absolutley a gorgeous and gracious woman.  I want to be her when I grow up…

    • Qitkat

Her elegance makes her seem from an earlier era. An era in which no woman would dream of wearing torn jeans or no man would show off his tattooed arms in public. Love that she dressed with such style for the Rucci fashion show.

So shoot me, sometimes I’m old-fashioned.

    • e jerry powell

I died.  I can’t even look at her pictures for more than a second, because it’s like staring at the sun.  She vaporizes me with stunning.

  • understateddiva

Beckham is so gorgeous that it’s as if another camera crew with different lighting and a glamour filter is shooting his photo – and then you realize that it’s just him.  Bitch probably smells good too.

  • Mandy Moore looks like she wants to hurt someone!  Carmen is fabulous!!

    • LambeeBaby

Bizzaro, no? I thought it was for the “do-it yourself” pap smear.

      • OmegaMu

I would have said some pervert was trying to look up her skirt, but I think she’s wearing shorts!

  • Seriously, do Hollywood types compliment Kelly Osbourne all the time on the sad, grey/purple hair? Because I know no reason why she should still have that, in the face of how incredibly bad it goes with her clothing, never mind her coloring. (Yes, it’s not fighting with the white dress, but it has really clashed with many of her other outfits that I’ve seen. Sigh.)

    • I was just thinking how amazing her hair looks with that dress! I really like it in general, but I am weird.

      • You aren’t weird. I just hate it, probably irrationally, but it really does clash with a lot of outfits. I would think you’d want your hair not to draw away from your fab outfits, but what do I know.

        • Le_Sigh

I don’t think you’re being irrational to hate it.  Its really hiddy – I think if she had it a deep bright royal purple, or a dark plum it would look really great and still rebellious.  That lavender/lilac is ucky and makes her look grey.  Its the exact same shade of pale as her natural skin tone so the effect is weird and jarring.

          • Yes, that’s kind of my beef with it. It’s washed out in a bad way. I’m not against full-on unnatural hair colors, but this is just drab.

          • Le_Sigh

And nauseating also – its washed out Easter Egg coloring.

      • 3boysful

It looks fine with that dress, esp because it’s not purple!

Th practical part of me worries about the  condition of that oft-dyed hair.

    • kcarb1025

Unfortunately she is friends with LOTS of celebs – apparently humorless ones too because whenever Joan Rivers makes one of her signature jokes about them on Fashion Police, Kelly will just sit there with the sour look on her face or she will turn her head down/away to make it known that she is NOT taking part in Joan Rivers’ shtick (which ALL of her celeb friends are familiar with btw, since she’s been doing it before Kelly was even born).

      • NC_Meg

I can’t remember who Joan make a jab at the other night on that show but Kelly just tilted her head and stared dead into the camera like, “No, bitch.” It was fabulous. I don’t watch that show regularly but I love when Kelly silently opposes Joan.

      • Yes, I have seen the phenomenon. I also remember Joan giving her the business about that hair when she first debuted it, but say one thing for Kelly; she’s got an admirable stick-to-her-gun-ness. I wouldn’t want to cross ‘ol Joan.

      • alyce1213

Kelly’s “takes” as if she can’t believe what Joan is saying are her standard shtick; it’s all written.

    • sk8tfan

Agreed! That hair is heinous, it was heinous the moment she stuck it on her head; it remains heinous.  It will never not look heinous. Is it some kind of post-teen rebellion that she insists on keeping it? It has not caught on by now; it will never catch on. Doesn’t she look at the stunning women around her and say to herself “wow, I look hideous”?

      • MilaXX

I read somewhere that she loves that people hate it so yeah, post teen rebellion, although she’s getting a bit too old for that.

        • Ahh. “Loves that people hate it” is much the same as I felt after I shaved the underside of my head up to the temples, and dyed the top gothic-maroon (yeesh). I was fifteen, of course, so yes, perhaps miss Kelly should be over that now. On the other hand, her dad IS Ozzy Osbourne, so mayhap different rules apply.

        • tereliz

But if she’d only change it at this point (well, maybe not during NYFW), she’d be all anyone could talk about. For five minutes.

  • I once met Carmen at an event I had to attend with my asshole boss, who insisted on pestering her, thinking she’d be impressed with who he was. She sliced & diced him with a few words and a dismissive look. It was a thing of beauty.

  • Wow, Kelly Osbourne has gotten incredibly tiny.

Daisy Fuentes always manages to look good-to-excellent in these things. Props to her.

    Carmen Dell’Orifice is stunning.

    • Kristin McNamara

Was just thinking that! KO looks so eeny, compared to that girl next to her, who I’m sure is also eeny!! Crazy!

      •  Girl next to her is Madonna’s daughter. I can’t believe how tiny Kelly Osbourne got.

  • poggi

It is good to know that otherworldly creatures like Carmen Dell’ Orefice are also plagued by the combination of high heels and low seats. There is no graceful way to get up when your ass is lower than your knees.

She commands attention just standing there. She must be amazing to see in action.

  • Alisa Rivera

You couldn’t pay us to ride an elevator with these two.

Boys, you simply cannot throw a statement like that out there and not elaborate. They don’t use deodorant? They belch and fart? Or is it just that because they’re both insufferable celebrity spawn?

    • melizer

I was sure I was the only one that didn’t get it.  I don’t know what it means, but I love it.

      • alyce1213

I can’t figure it out either.  Actually, I think it might be very amusing to eavesdrop.

    • mshesterp

I’m going with the 3rd option, although Kelly looks like she’d be a lot of fun, but that could be the wrong impression!

  • NC_Meg

    Looooooove SJP’s dress!

And I just want to remind everyone that Martha Stewart is 71. Seventy. freaking. one. She looks fab!

    • I agree Martha looks great, I think of her as the dressy pant suit type so it is nice to see her legs.

    • shirab

Though she looks awfully apple-cheeked and wrinkle-free for 71. But that’s her prerogative, I guess.

      • kimmeister

        I think she might’ve OD’d on bronzer.

    •  I was thinking that she must have been bathing in the blood of virgins! She looks about 40!

  • cmb92191

Carmen is putting every other lady there to shame.  So gorgeous-and a wonderful life lesson as well.

  • dell orefice! goddess! bianca jagger is pretty fabulous, too; including the hose!

    beckham: so gorgeous! swoon.

i know what to think of abduls shoes: they are fabulous!

    diggin’ roes big-ass clutch.

SJP’s dress is indeed excellent and the shoes are perfect with it.

love mortimers dress, but that hair is a tragedy.

  • Isn’t Ivanka WERQing a dress Emily Blunt wore on the red carpet a few months ago? What a difference.

Carmen, we all wish to be as graceful and lady like as you are at 82.

The rest look “shoved and frustrated”.

    • IAmJ

Yes, it’s a Carolina Herrera that Emily wore a while back. Ivanka is doing justice to that great dress.

    •  Shoved and frustrated is better than slapped and humiliated (maybe that’s why so few pictures of Zac Posen attendees?)

    • tereliz

Ivanka’s gold sandals and oxblood bag are really making that dress sing in a way that Emily’s black pumps didn’t. She’s blowing all the other ladies her age away.

Another reason Ivanka is owning that dress is because she actually owns it, whereas Emily B. most likely got it on loan. Ivanka’s is perfectly tailored and hemmed, and she’s also, to quote TLo, being photographed in the “rarified atmosphere of a runway show” instead of in daylight with a zillion flashes going off.

  • Monday1900

She is perfection (so is your photograph) and I love your caption too.  What an amazing experience for you!

  • IAmJ

Mandy Moore, don’t try to make these booties love you. It’s never gonna work out.

  • MinkaL

“You couldn’t pay us to ride an elevator with these two.”
    I died.

Madame Carmen Dell’Orefice, you are a goddess, truly.

  • You got to meet Carmen Dell’Orefice!!!  I’m DYING over here, I”m so excited for you!!
And Bianca and Ivanka!  Not only do they both look wonderful, but I love saying Bianca and Ivanka – it’s so much fun!

  • SJP’s “why is this man touching me?” face is HILARIOUS.

    • I don’t think so. Her and Andy – They’re good friends.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Is it wrong that I immediately thought of Wayland Flowers and Madam when I saw their picture?

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Vanessa Williams is serving up milkshakes, amirite?

Kelly Osbourne’s little white dress is wicked cute on her. Kelsey Chow’s proportions look absurd in those shorts: like she has a big-to-normal-size torso and a wicked witch cast a magic spell to shrink her legs. Giant shorts…are they the leather boxing shorts that the fuggirls spoke of?

Who the hell is Louise Roe and why is her name everywhere?

  • Sweet baby jeebus on toast points, that shot of David Beckham has rendered me incapable of speech. I’m just gonna sit here and drool, m’kay?

    • Holla!

    • greyhoundgirl

Me too–and I’m not even straight!

  • Victoria Sharoyan

Keep seeing Anna Kendrick in those shots of Ashley Greene. Never noticed the resemblance so much.

  • kelly o’s been on the fashion week diet.

  • Introspective

    Carmen is a goddess.

    That is all.

  • How is Vanessa Williams serving in that dress? The top part of the dress makes it look like she’s 2x as wide as she really is.

  • I can’t get over how terrific that dress looks on Kelly Osbourne. And her hair looks good instead of weird! Change the shoes, dahling, and this outfit would be divine.

  • quiltrx

Bow down to the glory that is Carmen, bitches! (and I LOVE the life lesson.)

And then let’s all go worship at the feet of Bernadette and Vanessa, while we’re there.

  • Gina Gershon is looking Katey Sagal-ish in that shot.  Where do they take these pictures that make everyone look think & dumpy?  The angle of Hell??

  • Ann

Carmen is amazing… absolute perfection. I think she needed a WERQ post for that!  Love Ivanka Trump’s look. Did Andy Cohen sleep in his suit?  Are we beginning to see the end of the ridiculous platform shoe trend?  I keep seeing lovely non-platform heels in your recent posts.  I hope so!

  • unbornfawn

I bow down. Carmen a true grand dame. I am overwhelmed at the fabulousness and thank my fashion uncles for all their work to bring it to us lowly minions.

    • TieDye64

  • Carmen Dell’Orefice is the most stunning being EVER! She looks positively REGAL. Perfectly coiffed and put together, and as though she’s not even trying.

  • MilaXX

First of all Carmen Dell’Orefice, I bow to you!
Dasiy Fuentes continues to look better no than she did in her 20’s. If she’s had work done, it was very tastefully done.
I’ve just started listening to Lianne La Havas and I’m kinda digging her sound.
    Kelsey Chow looks adorbs.
I like her but paired with Lourdes, Kelly Osbourne is looking a bit douche-y.

  • janetjb

Sami Gayle is an adorable fashionista, so very cute.I wouldn’t have predicted that Daisy Fuentes would be one of my favorites this week.

I don’t want to see dresses and booties together again.

  • I don’t know who Kelsey Chow is, but I am concerned that her ankles are taped together.

    • kimmeister

  • nannypoo

Carmen Dell’Orefice is spectacular. Everything about her is exquisite. And gloves for god’s sake. So elegant.

  • ccm800

Mandy Moore NEVER looks like the same person. Is she SO regular that she just never registers or what IS it? Kelly’s dress is adorable. Carmen kicks ALL the ass in Asstown (but where IS the back you had to get??? hmmm???)

  • kimmeister

I’m amazed that one could even tuck a blouse into that first skirt Daisy is wearing.
SJP’s dress is giving me crazy eyes.
Padma, that is not your lipstick color.

  • Ashley Greene really can give Emmy Rossum a run for her money when it comes to these ladylike looks. She always looks powerful and interesting while looking very feminine.

  • aristida_girl

Carmen! I am bowing the fuck down! Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful experience~! (The rest of the post is great, too 🙂

  • TieDye64

Carmen Effing Dell’Orefice. I BOW DOWN! For eternity.

  • Scarlet39

This seems to be the season of the bad shoe.

  • charlotte

This was quite a lesson on how to age properly:  Carmen Dell’Orefice, Bernadette Peters, Martha Stewart etc. show us how it’s done.

  • lalagigi

There was no point scrolling past Carmen. She is not of this world.

  • I’ll say one thing about Kelly Osmond.  Bitch has lost a ton of weight and kept it off.

    • YoungSally

      Agreed — she looks great.

  • MoHub

Is it  my imagination, or is Padma getting a bit droopy?

  • Vic

At 82, Carmen slayed them all. She made them pale by comparison.

  • PeggyOC

Bernadette Peters never ages.  Hate that bitch!  (in all the best air-kiss and worshiping ways).

  • Le_Sigh

DAYUMN.  The older ladies are SERVING IT.  Madame Dell’Orefice – I bow down to you.

Also digging Sami Gayle’s funky pixie look.

  • afabulous50

Oh please – I knew there’d have to be some snide comment attached to Madonna’s daughter.

  • mjude

    BOWING DOWN to Ms. Dell’Orefice

  • greyhoundgirl

So relieved not to see Eric West’s bony chest.

  • RzYoung

Do you guys actually take all the front row photos?

  • TheOriginalLulu

Dammit, I had things to say but then I got to the picture of Becks and I lost it all. Oy but he’s gorgeous.

  • jw_ny

With the last name of Dell’Orefice, I honestly thought she was a drag star…oops and sorry to her.  😉  She looks fab and is the epitome of elegance.

The reasons you’d not ride in an elevator with Kelly & Lourdes has my curiosity peaked and imagination running…hmmm.  Why does personal hygiene come to mind?  O_o

  • What crawled up Mandy Moore’s butt hole?

  • Susan Crawford

Carmen Dell-Orefice – now THIS, kittens, is what GLAMOUR means. One of the greatest models and iconic fashion presences in history. Magnificent.

  • lipapel

Carmen Dell’Orefice is really very elegant. A great lady.

Kelly Ousborne is not very pretty and that hair makes her even worse.

Mariska Hargitay is a simple elegance. But she’s so beautiful, and her skin is so wonderful that everything looks good on her.

  • I’m glad to see a picture of Daisy Fuentes without those huge sunglasses.  I was beginning to think she was hiding some unfortunate plastic surgery.

  • Snailstsichr

My birthday was this week and seeing Carmen was divine. She makes getting older look so fabulous. Let’s all stand up straight and be phenomenal!

  • Tracy_Flick

    Carmen Dell’Orefice is stunning.

I disagree that Sarah Roe is making that pink pillowcase work. It gave me an immediate jolt of anxiety, recalling nightmares where you show up somewhere public and suddenly realize you have no pants on.

I was going to make more comments, but David Beckham addled my brains.

  • Martha Deutsch

Wait, so you guys, TLo, are taking all these photos as well?

  • I love these candid shots. No words for Carmen (it’s a Turlington kind of thing), but I think Bianca, Ivanka and Bernadette are rocking it hard! They all look hot and age appropriate, ie, tasteful! Vanessa W., too.

  • prettybigkitty

Who is Eric West?  And why has he been featured in the photos so many times?  I realize I may be a tad (cough, cough) out of touch. He’s the 9th Eric West on IMDB’s list of Eric Wests.   And his bio states, “Eric West is considered one of film and music’s fastest rising stars in Hollywood,” and yet his last role was as Male Nurse.

  • frannyprof

SJP is way to old to be posing that way.

  • guest2visits

How very beautiful and how very radiant is Carmen Dell Orefice.  Listened to a couple of her interviews; and she seems so
intelligent and just a lovely person.
Several pretty LBDs, and I want to be brave enough to try the little haircut on Sami Gayle.
Have to know- what is so dangerous about Kelly and Lourdes.. ?

  • patticake1601

Carmen Dell’Orefice ♥ born with style and elegance. It is not something you learn or practice. Either you have it or you don’t. I don’t so I worship this Lady.

  • bitterk

All the WERQs you have given Kelly, i thought you guys loved her.  I never understood the adoration.  But what has little Lolo done?

    And Carmen….DAYUM

  • frankystein123

Ms. Greene has been consistently servin’ it.
