Jennifer Hudson in Jennifer Hudson for QVC

Posted on September 08, 2012

The dress is fine (although clearly contractually obligated because why would anyone wear a tight dress with tight long sleeves in hot weather? Check your pits, J Hud), but we really want to talk about the top and bottom. At the top: a really cute hairstyle that we’re seeing all over Fashion Week:

Jennifer Hudson attends QVC‘s event for 2012 Fashion’s Night Out in New York City in a Jennifer Hudson Collection for QVC dress and Charlotte Olympia shoes.

Charlotte Olympia ‘Kiss Me Dolores’ Pumps

At the bottom: total drag heels. Which we absolutely love. We wouldn’t want to see them in a more formal setting, but they look really fun and cute on Jennifer here. We think the hair’s really cute too. Lipstick shade’s as wrong as wrong gets, but what are you gonna do? Girl strapped on her drag shoes and that’s good enough for us.

She needs the same llp color as her shoes.

all i can see is PIT STAINS

  • Miss_Led

Judging from this pic and the judges photos, she is needing a lip color advisor.

  • NC_Meg

The lipstick is so wrong it hurts and I’m not crazy about the hair at all. I love the shoes with the dress, though!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Why is she wearing a burnt breakfast pastry on her head?

      • TheOriginalLulu

I know right? Also, if that hairstyle is everywhere, I like it even less. Maybe it’s just me, but if I walked in and everybody had their hair like mine, I would run to the bathroom and let my hair down!

      • SassieCassy

hungry after all that jenny craig

  • HomeOfficeGirl

It’s heading into Minaj territory, but hey – QVC so go for it.

  • http://heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com Vivi N

Not feelin’ the dress, makeup nor hairstyle.

    The shoes are very cute.

  • PeaceBang

I think she looks awful and uncomfortable. Leave this sort of thing to Katy Perry, Jennifer. It doesn’t suit you and you look like you’re totally not owning it.

  • quiltrx

I never consider it a positive for a celebrity’s rep to be a QVC whore.  And those pit stains are just way too sad.

    But props for drag heels!

  • cclaussen3

that lip color is everywhere right now. its so awful!

    • TheOriginalLulu

And it doesn’t really look good on anyone, does it?

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

She looks completely and totally adorable!  LOVE the drag shoes, the dress is simple, but adorable in that fun red, and the hair is great.  You’re right, although I don’t like “matchy match”, she shouldn’t have gone bright pink with the lipstick.  Red would have been better.  Other than that, she’s perfect.

  • lrhoff

Whoa….definitely check the armpits.  That’s all I saw out of the image.  Not sure about the hair.  It looks a little “doing chores and want my bangs out of my face” to me.

  • Beth G

First of all… while I applaud her for her weight loss, I really think she’s one of those people who looks better as a “plus size” person.  Her head is quite large and it looks… strange now with less body to hold it up.  And the hair is giving off almost the same vibe as old 80′s power-bangs… um……. scarey.

    • alyce1213

Like a lot of show biz folk, she does have a huge face and head, and this hairstyle is not helping.  She needs hair around her face and shoulders for balance, otherwise it’s just too much FAAACE.

  • l_c_ann

So being invited to  judge the PR10 finale was based on her having a line on QVC?

    Or vice versa?

    (Is the skirt intentionally ruched?)

    • MilaXX

vice versa I assume. It  seems many people are coming on as guest judges to hawk a movie/tv show or project. I’ve heard for a while that she had a line coming out.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is cross-over between QVC and the Lifetime viewer.  Jennifer Hudson might also be appealing to the LIfetime audience.

Not loving the hairstyle, but love the shoes!

        • MilaXX

I don’t like her in platform pumps. It just draws attention to how knock kneed she is.

  • watchmeboogie

Agreeing with everyone who hates the lip color. I confess I don’t like the hair, either; the hair tragedies of the late 80′s/early 90′s caused an extreme bouf-aversion.

She looks great, though. She seems a little smaller right now than she’s maybe designed to be, but if she’s happy, good for her!

(I’m choosing to ignore the pit stains because how much must that suck?)

    • Wellworn

I feel bad about the pit stains, like maybe she can’t help it?  Luckily I don’t know much about it, but aren’t there solutions to that problem?

  • marilyn

I think her lips are an interesting and unexpected contrast.  Somehow it works. Let’s face it: In real life that would be weird. But on the red carpet, it looks interesting.

  • warontara

I don’t see pit stains, I don’t see cute shoes, I don’t see questionable lip color…I just see that awful hairdo. I’m sure it looks great on many many people…but it is doing her no favors. Her face, like mine, is too wide and round for some styles.

  • alyce1213

I think she’s a beautiful young woman, not a fashion icon, but a good role model in her own right. This is not a good appearance for her.
I can’t excuse the pit stains because it’s not the first time.  I’ve (we’ve all) seen this with her before. It’s an issue that she and her stylists just haven’t addressed.  She needs to get some Mitchum’s, Certain Dri, dress shields, whatever.  The coiffure du jour is not for her — it makes her face look disproportionately large. The lipstick is a chintzy color to begin with and so wrong for this dress.

    • http://profiles.google.com/dorothymichael Dorothy & Michael n/a

Thank you for the comment about the disproportion – I thought I was the only one who thought her head looked waaaay too big for her body in these pictures.

  • PhillyJen

Hair tumor is a thing now?

    • Jacqueline Wessel

      “Hair tumor”   HA!

    • MilaXX

Has been for a minute. My FB pic has me with my hair in a hair tumor. I get loads of complements when I wear it.

    • Super_Red

This!! Please tell me it’s not so!

  • NDC_IPCentral

I don’t know whether Ms. Hudson suffers from hyperhidrosis, but for any of the BKs who aren’t in the greater NY area, you should know that we’re experiencing days on end of extremely high humidity, so everyone is wilting in the heat and suffocating moisture.  The combination of warm dress and zillion percent humidity might make anyone’s underarms more than a little damp.  I bet Our Boys could also give us insights into how taxed air conditioning systems are at these FW venues under these conditions.  Photo lights, lots of people = hot atmosphere.  Perspiration follows.

    • alyce1213

. . . and dress shields must be deployed.

  • IAmJ

The shoes are crazy in a good way, but has she not learned anything from this incident? http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2011/11/jennifer-hudson-learns-an-important-lesson.html

  • Judy_J

Girl needs dress shields. Absolutely lone those shoes.

  • LuisaNL

girlfriend looks HOT! Seriously, slammin’ bod, fun outfit (LOVE the shoes) and great hair. Shame about the lip, though, it really clashes with the rest of the look.

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Those shoes are awesome! The dress is boring and I loathe that hairstyle. And what’s with the jazz hands?

  • Peeve

Love Jennifer, love the shoes, too, but I think that hair is a hot mess and doesn’t really suit her at all.

  • unbornfawn

Those shoes are a whole ton of fun. She looks great in the dress. The lipstick is the wrong color for this outfit. And I won’t sign on for a clump of junk on the forhead as a cute hair style.

  • MilaXX

I really like the look. The shoes would be better without giant red lips on them, but I guess that’s what makes them drag shoes. Love the makeup, on the fence about the lipstick shade. More good than bad here. LOVE the hair and I’m usually not a fan if her hair.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

who thought that lipstick was a good idea?  and with the almost invisible brows, instead of her face all you see is a big ol’ mouth!  fire that makeup gay pronto.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tiyuju Yuju Ti

She looks old in these pictures. When people try too hard to loose weight, their skin looks loose and dull. Is that the reason, or she just had a bad hair-and-make up day?

  • norseofcourse

Nothin’ like drag shoes to put a smile on my face.

  • Laylalola

Oh God I can’t stand that Big Boy curl on the top of women’s heads.

  • Corazon Nunez

Love it! The lipstick is off, but I love it!

  • nannypoo

The lipstick and the hair are both bad, but she looks great anyway. The shoes are fabulous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

Drag shoes, or stripper? Or maybe a bit of both? Either way, they’re really fun.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Elizabeth-Poytinger-Baumer/1516981341 Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

i hate to say this, but she just looks way to thin.

    • colleenjanel

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! I think she looked better heavier, to be honest.

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

    Ooooh, you caught her! LOL!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/63F4DF4VDHSF2LPYOSWO5ZHAGU AdrienneD

Dress reminds me a shiny leotard I wore to jazz class in 1986. Hair is a bit silly, but fun.  Shoes are fabu.

    • YoungSally

It’s like an updated (barely) version of Cassie in A Chorus Line!  Complete with jazz hand pose!

  • http://michjeff-quiltersparadise.blogspot.com/ Michelle Young

She needs to fire her make-up artist!

  • bitterk

Wrong hair and make-up for her.  A girl needs to know when she can’t jump on the trend bandwagon and this hair ride was a big OLE mistake.  On a positive note, the color and fit of the dress are very flattering.

  • Trisha26

Agree about the lip color, but those shoes…no. Not even for fun. Unless it’s a drag ball/costume parteh.

  • guest2visits

I liked all of it, lip-color included. I think the shoes are pure celebrity wear, I wouldn’t want to see them anywhere else.

  • Susan Crawford

Great dress (wrong weather for it, yes, but she is making the most of it); the shoes are dragtastic, the hair ditto; the lips . . . not so much. Obviously, one of Miss Minaj’s make-up crew infiltrated Jennifer’s team!

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

    I covet those shoes.

  • Rebecca Jay

That hairstyle can be all over Fashion Week or any other week .. it still ain’t cute.

Love the big ring and earrings and eye makeup.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1550881905 Hildegerd Haugen

Sorry, but this does not do it for me.

  • BuffaloBarbara

That hairstyle’s sweeping fashion week?  It’s not bad, kind of cute.  Kind of 40s retro–are we going to have a 40s revival?

  • AgingWell

Talk about shoes, hair, pits, and lips all you want. Here’s what I see: Whatever undergarment she’s wearing, well, she’s getting great support.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I love the shoes too!  But that lipstick, especially with a red dress is horrendous.

  • Maluca

I have to say it. She looks too thin. She’s a lollipop now.

  • http://twitter.com/dexySuperTan Dexy Super Tan

is it just me or she looks like Lashauwn Beyond from RPDR season 4

  • Judih1

I like the shoes, but that is all. Crazy hair, inappropriate dress for the weather, lipstick shade hurts my eyes.

  • Kthrow

Saw her on QVC and I didn’t even recognize her, it wasn’t a good look so nice to see her on the runway, def looks better, not crazy about the hair at all

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

She’s been working the wrong lipstick all week.

Can’t stand her or her lip color, but love the shoes. The opposite of scroll down fug.

  • LambeeBaby

Wow, that is amazing. Did you like it so much that you remembered it or do you just have an affinity for all things Jennifer Hudson?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518485090 Jesse Rabbits

I have so many bitchy comments, but at the end of the day she is just WERQING that new body and I can’t be mad at her for having some fun with her post-Effie self.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_P5HNP4MUD3ZNKTM5F2WQDDLZ4U BarbaraW

I don’t think it’s the same dress. It’s really similar, but the other one is more drapey and less form fitting.

  • http://twitter.com/LOfficielEbony TheVeryLivingEND

This look is a mess, in my opinion.  That hair is doing NOTHING for her face. Neither is that lipstick. Neither is the neckline on that dress. And those armpit stains…

  • Town

She looks like a bobblehead with that hairstyle and the lipstick severely clashes with the dress.  The dress looks like it’s made out of some hot polyester spandex…so, no. Cute shoes, though.
