Jenna Ushkowitz in Corey Lynn Calter

Posted on September 17, 2012

We were unhealthily happy to see Miss Jenna in this:

Jenna Ushkowitz attends the “Glee” Season 4 Premiere Screening in a Corey Lynn Calter dress paired with a Judith Leiber minaudière, Christian Louboutin shoes and Baccarat jewelry.

Corey Lynn Calter Fall 2012 Collection

Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Peep’ Pump

Judith Leiber ‘Jellybean’ Minaudière

Because it’s just not normal to clap with glee when you see a celebrity dressed in a way you like. But Jenna’s demonstrated such a distinct lack of understanding as to what works on her for so long now that we got caught up in the excitement when she finally – FINALLY – got it right. Miss Jenna? This. This works for you. Pretty much perfectly. Stop it with the tight-bodiced cocktail dresses with poofy skirts. That was never a good idea. Chic little shifts like this, though? Perfect. Go out and buy two dozen in various colors, dear.

She looks great, and I love her makeup.

But what’s with the Glee girls and corresponding (awful) hair?

      • DeborahJozayt

They’re all getting their ombre done from the same awful stylist. It’s so sad, too!

        • Sobaika

This isn’t even ombre though – is it a sad attempt? It’s chunky highlights. They were big in my middle school during the 90s.

          • janinedm

I reckon that it’s extensions that aren’t blending well under HD flash photography.

          • DeborahJozayt

I always thought of ombre as highlights that aren’t at the root, kinda like how your hair would look in the winter after spending the summer at the equator. But it’s different strokes for different folks 😀

            • Sobaika

Ahhh, see I thought of ombre as the look that comes with a brunette dying her whole head blonde and letting the roots grow out a few inches. Miley Cyrus had it, Drew Barrymore, Rihanna, a few other people.

              Either way it’s fug.

    • Linda Harris

      She looks great

    • newleaf1

      Carnaby street cute!

    • piecesofconfetti

Very cute! And such a happy outfit.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Young, colorful, fun.  A+

      • AudreysMom

Young, colorful, fun… but the stripes don’t match at the seams. My 8th grade home ec teacher would take points off and so must I.

Still an A but I’ll use the other end of my pencil to erase that plus.

        • Betty Rust

Thank you AudreysMom.  Those mismatched stripes make my head hurt!

    • Shannon Beamer

She is so much cuter in this than that grumpy ass model.  Love.  Also, the shoes are fab.

      • Tess Danesi

First thing I noticed in the model pic was how damn depressed she looked and then I noticed the tights, which I really like with the dress. It’s an adorable look but I’d like to see her in something that shows off her curves (though not her usual pouffy dress. She looks so happy and bright here that you just want to hug her and hope the happy rubs off.

    • MarinaB

It is too shapeless, it’s doing nothing for her.

    • Ann VerWiebe

Does it bother anyone else that, for what she paid for the dress, they didn’t bother to match the stripes? I know it’s a ridiculous large repeat in the pattern – but still….

      • DeborahJozayt

I kinda like the stripes not matching in this, because it looks so deliberate rather than trying but not getting it right on the nose. I hate it so much more when the stripes almost match, but are just a hair off.

      • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I often think the same thing.  Besides, its not that hard to match up stripes.

      • SassieCassy

yea sets off the eye twitch a lil bit

      • Tess Danesi

I just looked up that designer and the prices, though this piece wasn’t on the site, are almost reasonable, mostly under $300. Makes me think maybe I can afford this frock! I also kind of like the mismatched stripes in this look. It does seem deliberate to me.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I really love the dress, but it’s all very shiny, the dress, the purse, the shoes.  Still much better than her usual attempts, and this really seems to fit her personality.

    • MzzPants

Agree.  Can’t believe how chic she looks.

    • Pennymac

      Absolute cuteness!

    • Violina23

      Love it!

I have to admit, I watched a bit of the glee premiere, mostly for the Rachel storyline. I’m a sucker for the “trying to make it in showbiz in ny stories…..

      • MilaXX

I watched too. I’m just not ready to quit Glee yet.

    • crash1212

She does look cute – great dress accessorized smartly! I have a question that I’m sure many bitter kittens will know the anser to: What the difference between a clutch and a Minaudière?

      • foodycatAlicia

I hope someone does – because I sure as heck don’t. I am also not sure how to pronounce minaudière, so I might have to stick with clutch.

    • MilaXX

Cute, great fit and good color for her. I hope she gets to shine a but more this season.

    • Laura

      That’s an awesome dress

    • tallgirl1204

I’m sure this is a very expensive dress.  And no one could bother to match the stripes on the sides?  Makes it look like something from Target.

    • Dot

Why are her bangs parted in the center? That looks so odd to me.

    • Judy_S

      Just very cute.

    • Le_Sigh

YES!!!!!  I heart her so very much (she’s Korean too) its nice to see her looking sparkly and chic and appropriately fitted.

    • Judy_J

She looks cute.  Just wish her shoes fit better.

    • janetjb

      She looks adorable and fresh.

    • Trisha26

      Very cute – I’ll take 24 too.

    • jw_ny

I have to agree that it is the perfect shape dress for her.  Love the stripes and colors.  Fun accessories.  All around very cute and sassy.  :)

    • butter nut

youthful, fun, well-fitted, event-appropriate & cute as hell.  this is a near-WERQ!  brava, miss jenna!

    • Peeve

Is it too much to ask on a very simple shift dress like this one that the stripes match on the sides? Particularly when you’re wearing Louboutin heels, Baccarat jewelry, and carrying a Judith Lieber clutch? Seemly pretty cheaply done to me, and I seriously doubt that dress was cheap. Think she looks great, but that’s a bit of a jarring note to the outfit.

    • boldprint

      adorable. love the cat eye.

    • janinedm

I’ll help cross-promote. This dress is for sale at Modcloth.

    • Vickiefantastico

    • granddelusion

It’s amazing to me that they don’t match the stripes at the seams with a dress that costly.

    • ThaliaMenninger

    • marilyn

My complaint is not with her, it’s with the dress.  This is obviouslhy a VERY expensive dress.  You would think the designer would have taken the time to match the seams at the side.  Tsk, tsk.  Shame on the designer.  IMHO, this oversight puts the dress on the discount rack.

    • quiltrx

This is really flattering, and  those shoes are FIERCE!

    • Larkin21

Love it all! She looks great :)

    • CQAussie

So cute!!!  So chic!!  Thumbs up!!

    • Zippypie

That is one amazingly cute look!

    • guest2visits

All cute; the dress the bag, the shoes. I might wish the dress had an inch more in length, and an inch cinched in the waist.

    • Lisa

This is very cute for her!  It’s really a whole change and it’s perfect – so much better than that fluffy goth shit she normally has on!

    • ccm800

amen!  And the face looks marvelous.

    • Candigirl1968

Cute and sassy.  Next project – the hair.

    • Shawn EH

She looks cute as hell in this! Love those shoes, too!

    • oohsparkley!

      Werqing it!
