Gabrielle Union in Naeem Khan

Posted on September 28, 2012

We were going to make this an “IN or OUT” post but we just can’t find anything to criticize, not even in a devil’s-advocate kind of way.

Gabrielle Union attends ‘A Night on the RunWade’  in Miami in an ivory georgette sleeveless sheath with coral leaf beading dress by Naeem Khan.

Naeem Khan Resort 2012 Collection

That could be due to our unrelenting crush on Gabrielle, who still sits on the top of our fence-jumper* list.

Sure, it looks like it might be a skosh too tight in a couple spots and we’re not really in love with the shoes, but overall, it’s a smart, stylish look that looks effortless. Love the hair, makeup and earrings, too. Maybe not quite a WERQ, but definitely an “Attagirl.”

*T Lo term for a person for whom you’d “jump the fence” of your sexual orientation for a shot at.

Not loving the fit. It pulls way too much across the hips and rib cage. It is a really cute dress and a good look for her otherwise

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

In total agreement. The dress is clearly designed to skim, but not shrink wrap, the figure. Up a size and this would have been WERQ worthy.

I just want to yank down on the hem to smooth everything out. Then the dress would look perfect (as long as she didn’t move).

The fit is killing me. It’s more than a skosh too tight across her hips, causing it to mess up the pattern. I just want to run up and yank it down.  The camel colored barely there sandals don’t really do enough either.

  • MrsMaxPower

I can’t even get to the dress because I’m stuck thinking that this woman NEVER ages.

  • Bozhi

I love the back of this dress and the bodice.  I hate the front bottom of the dress.  It looks too busy in an awkward and unattractive way.

    • AudreysMom

agreed. the only quibble is with the front design. It kind of looks like she’s got geraniums growing up from her nether regions. It’s a very small quibble at that. Otherwise gorgeous. As always.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Yeah – there’s a big red bit right *there* with a halo around it! Aside from the print I think this is gorgeous.

      • pdquick

If the dress were loose enough to hang correctly, it would look like she had a crown on the lady bits. Which would be terrific.

  • Introspective

Im really annoyed that she looks as good as she looked 15 yrs ago.

dress is totally tight. but she’s radiant nonetheless. bitch.

    • Sobaika

      She looks better IMO

      • Introspective

        First thought- youre right.

second thought- Ive gotta get a facial. because she’s got me by nearly a decade and my skin doesnt look half as good.

        • Sobaika

Vitamin C! I don’t know that it’ll give you Gabrielle-levels of anti-aging but great for overall radiance.

  • LadyCelia

Really could have used another inch of ease all ’round.  Just too tight.

  • Sobaika

Such a fantastic look. I might not have chosen those shoes, but Gabrielle Union can do no wrong.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s s skosh snug, but overall I love this!

*Gabrielle Union is on my irrational celebrity LOVE list, due in part to the fact that I look a little like her. :D

  • tereliz

Shoot, I might jump the fence for Gabrielle Union, too.

Other than the fit—this is a standing room only, dress, from the looks of things—the color is perfect on her, her makeup is fresh and dewy and her hair is just lovely. I can’t believe girlfriend is $) this year. (I couldn’t bring myself to type her actual age because that seems rude so I just pressed SHIFT instead) Her legs are amazing, and better yet, she doesn’t feel the need to show every inch of them to prove it!

    • deb ruberto

      $)  ?????  NO WAY!!!!

      …lucky bish….

  • agentilities

Not quite! the fit is too distracting

  • dress_up_doll

Love her! And she looks gorgeous in everything and anything.

  • MilaXX

She looks great! Could use and extra inch or 2, but a great look.

  • Judy_S

She is lovely but it is too tight.

  • holdstillnow

I love playing the Fence Jumper List Game! (Never had a name for it before, so thanks for that.)  Matt Smith is my number one…

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Love her cute dress and her cute hair, she looks so happy! I always love it when I see her in something, I want her to stick around Hollywood until she’s a cranky old diva.

  • PinkLemon

    cute. seems kinda standard.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

    She does not age.

  • SapphoPoet

I don’t think the dress fits her all that well (I think she needed to go one size up), but it’s a great look overall.

  • Pants_are_a_must

It’s not effortless if she has to yank the dress down her thighs and midriff.

  • Judy_J

She would have done well to go up a size.  I agree, that’s a great dress.  Michelle Obama could rock the heck out of this.

  • Trisha26

Dress looks much better on the model (too tight on Gabrielle) but the mirror view shows it’s too tight on her as well. Shoes are hein.

  • BrooklynBomber

Well, way more than just a skosh too tight, but she’s gorgeous, and it’s a great dress.

  • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Agree with comments above re fit but you know what I love? Her hair is down and yet NOT HIDING THE DESIGN. I can’t stand the long-haired types with their cocker-spaniel-ears’ hair. So heavy and unattractive. This woman gets it right.

  • mmc2315

I must be reading a lot of TLo lately.  Even before I scrolled down to the actual post, I saw the pics and thought “Skosh too tight”!

  • TropiCarla

Love the dress. Hate her for personal reasons.
Dear rich, famous, gorgeous bitches: Find a single man. Leave the married ones with kids alone. I’m looking at you too, Alicia Keys.

  • miagain

    What a pretty dress…

  • tessasouthworth

I am SO going to buy this dress!

  • nannypoo

Way too tight, yet not trashy. She looks pretty.

  • lalahartma

Yeah, it’s a bit tight, eh?

  • guest2visits

Love that dress, even if it’s a tiny bit tight – she looks very good in it.

  • jw_ny

She’s not on my “jump the fence” list, but I’ve always really liked her a lot…for really no explainable reason.  What would that be…an irrational like?  ;)  Anyway…yep. too tight.  Too bad because it’s a great dress and would look great on her if it hung as nicely on her as it does the model.  Still…she looks pretty damn good.  :)

    • margaret meyers

      It’s the dimples.

  • quiltrx

That’s a pretty great dress.  Appears to be intended almost as a ‘shift’ rather than skin-tight, so up a size would probably have been a lot prettier.

  • margaret meyers

I’ve always heard an opposite meaning for “jump the fence.”  “She make me wanna jump the fence,”  as in “she makes me so angry I want to run away. ”

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Needs to size up the dress, but can’t deny how gorgeous she is.

  • http://twitter.com/adleredneko Aki

Can I just say that I adore that so many of your fence jumpers are women of color? You just like them fierce and chocolatey don’t you?

  • bellafigura1

The editorial model looks like she’s wearing someone else’s ass.

  • TieDye64

A size up and this would’ve been fantastic.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She really should have gone a size up.  Too bad, because she is so pretty and so is the dress.

  • laurenoodle

I WANT THAT DRESS. I don’t know if it would work on me because I am very pale but I still want it

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Ahhhh, “Fence Jumper” – I like that term!  I’ve always called it “Gay for a Day”, but yours covers both gay or straight!

  • shelley514

This dress looks waaaaaaayyyyyy better on the model in the stock photo.  That’s a sign that it’s not your dress.
