WERQ: Kelly Rowland in Victoria Beckham

Posted on August 15, 2012

It’s a Double-WERQ day, darlings! But we could give her no less, because Miss Kelly is serving up HAIR.

Kelly Rowland at the David Jones Spring/Summer 2012 collection launch in Sydney in a Victoria Beckham dress paired with Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Spikes’ shoes.

She is also serving up FACE and DRESS and SHOES. Bitches, if that isn’t a WERQ, we don’t know what is. You go on and WERQ your flawless self, girl. SNAPS of RESPECT.

  • Awesome.

  • Vickiefantastico

She looks stunning. And I’d kill for those shoes. But how does she walk in that dress???

    • Sobaika

      Very carefully.

      • And slowly, with teeny tiny baby steps.

        • 3boysful

Good thing she can’t move her lags in that dress, else she might bleed to death if she tried crossing her legs in those shoes.

    • MilaXX

She doesn’t have to. When you look that good, the world comes to you.

      • AnneElliot

        And bows before you!

      • Seriously. And her figure is to die for.

    • schadenfreudelicious

modern take on the hobble skirt methinks…

      • Aurumgirl

In a figurative way, I guess, it is a “hobble” skirt.  But I’m willing to bet there’s quite a bit of give in that fabric–something that forces what appears to be tailored suiting right back into shape when it’s stretched.  I can’t imagine you could get that kind of shape-hugging with good tailoring alone.

    • Susan Crawford

She has minions who carry her.

  • I love her so much. Never fails to give something good to talk about. Here? She’s giving EVERYTHING.

  • miss kelly needs to eat a few pistachios…

    •  Really? She has hips and arms muscles and legs and a healthy looking face.

      • ChiliP

Yup, the bod is slammin. Miss Kelly is the epitome of a WERQ here- you can feel the confidence radiating off of her.

    • MilaXX

She’s always been slim from way back in the early Destiny’s Child days. In fact I think she’s curvier here.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

    damn girl!

  • Kristina Toma

I love that her hair is noticeably bigger than her waist. She’s serving up a large does of curves from literal head to toe.

  • TSkot

    Of course

  • Holy crap that’s an impressive waistline! And while I’m not in love with the shoes, this is one of the better WERQs we’ve seen around these parts in recent days.

    • mshesterp

I think Kate Beckinsale was wearing a nude pair on her press junket, and they were pretty awesome.  They might be a little much for this outfit, but i love the idea of them.

      • one look at the nude version, and visions of copious warts will dance in your head for days.

    • MilaXX

Ms Kelly has been looking so good lately that I am thisclose to buying that exercise video she’s promoting.

  • Allison Woods

  • VicksieDo

Flawless, and skinny without looking sickly. WERQ

  • She looks KILLA. And I want those shoes, now. I’ll take the dress too, come to think of it.

  • mshesterp

The face is a wee bit draggy for me, but in general she looks fantastic.  Love the big hair.  And yes, that waist!  So narrow!  She’s been serving up fierceness for the last few outings.

  • Sobaika

Two fab WERQs in one day. Fashion blessings to all.

  • Victoria Beckham certainly doesn’t design cutting edge clothing, but damn if the girl can’t design one chic dress after another…and ones that look fabulous on a variety of body types!

    Oh yeah…those shoes…size 8 1/2…in my closet…NOW!

    • Sobaika

I remember seeing VB on The View (don’t judge) and she seemed quite proud of designing for a range of sizes. They showed images of her wearing the same design as a pre-Weight Watchers Jennifer Hudson.

      • Twelve years ago, I never in HELL would have considered that I’d be saying what I’m about to say, but VB is one classy lady. Respect.

      • Aurumgirl

She definitely knows how to design dresses that make women look as good as possible.  Flattering lines with no fiff-faff like ruffles and drapes and whatevers; good fabrics, too; colours that look good on people.  They’re pretty classic, but they sure do enhance in a way other designers’ dresses just don’t.  I love the navy and black combination in this dress, and the fact that even though that hemline is low to the ground, it’s anything but matronly.

  • Oooooh. Her hair is divine. The dress is chic as hell. I’m not crazy about the shoes but only because I can imagine all the accidental injuries one (read: *I*) could cause with them.

  • Awestruck over here. The dress is perfectly fitted to her slamming body, I (and most of the bitter kittens, I bet) would cut a bitch for those shoes, her hair is fantastic and her face is radiant. WERQ to the nth degree!

    • tereliz

You could cut a bitch WITH those shoes. 😉  I do want them, though. I love this all black version.

  • DAYUM. She is bringing the fierce like nobody’s business.

  • mjude

love the donna summer hair.  she looks fab.

  • e m

Damn TLo ThAT’s why I love you guys! I read the name of a celebritiy I like, I read the name of a designer I like. A combination I never thought about and it’s a perfect WERQ for god’s sake!! A werq that is so worth seeing and that I would have missed otherwise. She looks AWESOME.

  • Somehow the shoes match the hair, but I really like it!

  • alyce1213

Now THIS is a WERQ! I’ll even overlook the studded shoes, which look good with this but are not my favorites.
Can’t say the same for Viola Davis’ badly draped dress, sorry to say.

  • Judy_J

Uber-Fabulous!  That’s a WERQ by which all other WERQs should be judged.

  • Anathema_Device

Wow. Yes! I’m down with this WERQ. She looks so amazing here. She’s serving up body, face, hair, and style.

  • call_me_schmeg

snaps for that donna summer realness!

  • gabbilevy

That is how you deploy the black pumps. I would killllll for that dress. and that hair. and she looks so so so fabulous.

  • Lilithcat

Hate the length of that dress.  And the shoes are loathsome.

    • formerlyAnon

Made me laugh. I won’t go so far as loathsome, but I sure don’t like them as much as everyone else seems to.

  • MilaXX

Da-YUM! She looks good. Ms Kelly certainly has come into her own.  WERQ that thang!

  • SpcilK

I don’t agree. Granted her body is ridiculous, the shoes and accessories add beautifully to her look.  The hair and make – up are just too much. The hair is beautiful, bur there is way too much of it and would go perfectly with a beachy – boho outfit… Not this one!

  • I really did gasp when I saw those shoes up close. She looks great. I like the gold bracelet here, too.

  • formerlyAnon

She makes a beautiful mannequin, here.

But I have a strong bias against clothing that is both uncomfortable AND an actual safety hazard & the way this dress hobbles her at the knees really bugs me.

But damn if she doesn’t look amazing.

  • BrightsideSusan

    Add my snaps.

  • Rand Ortega

    That Dress–KABOOM!
    That waist– KAPOW!
    That hair– PA-PA-PA-POW!

Beyonce is cool & all, but KRow is a virtual cottage industry of fashion WERQ! Every woman on the planet wants to look like that.
If she doesn’t start her own line soon, it’s a crying shame.

  • Amy Ellinger

and UNGH! double up UNGH! UNGH!

    With apologies to Sir Mix-a-Lot.

  • bookish

I love that dress so much.

  • hughman

Although I think this style of shoe can be rather gimmicky, I do like how it highlights the black in the dress’s block print and elevates the whole look to edgier without the two elements fighting.

  • I dislike all of it.  The dress length hits right below the knee, her hair is way too much for this chic dress–she is not Diana Ross, and that lipstick is too bright of a red. Has she always had that beauty mark on her cheek? I haven’t noticed.  Sorry, but Viola is a definite WERQ, this one is not going it for me.

    • PinkLemon

That’s my favorite hemline length. I don’t see why people hate it so much?

      • The received wisdom on that is that this hem length cuts the leg at the widest part of the calf and therefore makes one’s legs look stumpy. Same reason clamdiggers are kind of awful on short women with thicker legs. Personally, I think it looks fab on Ms. Kelly here, but just above or just below the knee is kinder to a wide variety of figures.

        • PinkLemon

I can see Clam Diggers being a lot less flattering since they hit at the
TRULY worst part of the leg. But 1 or 2 inches below the knee? It ain’t
so bad. Besides, with my legs, it gives me the illusion of a more
shapely leg than I have. I have broomstick legs, they’re one width from
top to bottom, sooooo I’m biased.

      • This length on this particular pencil dress looks like it would be so tight right at the knee that walking would mean baby steps. You can see how stressed the dress is in the first picture where she’s only got her knee popped out. As Adriam mentioned below, this length is particularly hard to pull off. Though I think Miss Kelly here could do so if she didn’t look like an orange on a toothpick with that hair.

  • janetjb

  • Carlodog

So much nicer than Jennifer Garner’s navy & black dress.

  • kimmeister

Love the dress – now THAT is how you do navy and black.  Don’t care for the shoes though, and think she should have gone with either big hair or red lips, but not both at the same time.

  • Toto Maya

    I want to be her.

  • She looks pretty hot in this, but I have to say, the one thing that stands out to me is her makeup. Something’s off. Like, I think she should have gone a shade less saturated, and is that lip liner, but only on her bottom lip? Because whatever it is, it’s distracting. Maybe it’s just the lighting? Who knows. Anyway, the bright red lip and the fake eyelashes and the big hair read a bit more dragtastic than the rest of the look.

  • fursa_saida

I want all of it. The SHOES, I can’t.

  • clatie

  • ASK26

I don’t recognize her at all.   Nose?  Eyes? lips?

Her hair body and dress looks great but still don’t think she looks at all (face) like the KR I’ve seen before

  • GTrain

  • littlemissstrange

Well shut my mouth, I never thought she could look this fierce. I was just watching Aeon Flux the other day. This chick would’ve blended right in.

  • Patricia Gillett

The dress is amazing and looks like it was made for her. And she is WERQing like it was made for her. But best of all, she must roll out of the bed in the morning and give herself snaps in the mirror! So much confidence! That’s worth more than any couture dress and designer shoe!

  • Call me Bee

  • SophieCollier

Yum!  I covet that dress.  Girl looks amazing!

  • Everything is great, but the fake beauty mark PAINS me.

  • FLAWLESS. She looks fantastic!

  • lrhoff

Now this is a WERQ.  Viola doesn’t hold a candle to this!!!! NOOOO comparison.

  • Two black diva WERQs today. Yes.

  • dschubba

I’m not here for that makeup, but everything else works here.

  • Gurl has been bringin’ it almost every time she’s hit a red carpet. You betta’ WERQ, miss DIVA!

  • DCSheehan

    Perfection, hair to heel.

  • quiltrx

I never *completely* got the Louboutin obsession until just now. I WANT THOSE SHOES SO HARD!!!  Miss Kelly is tearing it up on all levels here.  Bow down, mortals!

  • Really? I’m not crazy about her make up. Maybe it looked better in person. In pictures, it looks a little clownish.

  • nannypoo

Hate the length. Let’s cut a few inches off this thing. Otherwise, she looks great.

  • RPDR?

  • RzYoung

LOOK AT HER WAIST!! I’d kill for a waist like that. Damn.

    • Jessica Goldstein

Yup. I’m thin, and I work out, but a waist like that is outside the realm of possibility for me. I covet that waist!

    • giving linda evangelista a run for her money in the tiny waist department.

  • annie_wonder

I love every single bit of this. Every. Single. Bit.

  • Miss Kelly is serving Donna Summer realness like it’s her last chance
for romance & some bitch left her cake out in the rain! She WERQs
    hard for it, honey!

    Beyoncé who?

    • and don’t leave her this wa-a-ay….she can’t go on without your love…

  • bellafigura1

Fierce WERQ. Those shoes and that dress are the perfect pairing. My fantasy addition is a dark red snakeskin clutch waiting in the wings.

  • Jellybish

  • Scarlet39

    This is absolutely pitch perfect.

And I need that dress immediately!

  • TheOriginalLulu

Can’t stand the bitch, but I have to admit, she looks amazing. That hair is fab.

  • KaileeM

Flawless. I wish I knew the color of her lipstick, so pretty!

  • She’s coming into her own & she looks GOOD doing it. WERQ, Kelly!

  • ballerinawithagun

WOW! Love the subtle color blocking.

  • i get my celebrities confused, but is she the one who starred in some fashion reality show with izaac mizrahi a while back?  if so, she certainly has grown up into her high fashion self.  i remember her as rather timid and a bit of an airhead.  could this be the same girl?

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Perhaps I can’t see the dress well – it looks like a very well cut black dress.  What am I missing?

  • TieDye64

  • Perfect deployment of those shoes. Get it, girl.

  • Killa

  • Kirsten Kirsten

Gurl is workin it: head to toe! Fabulous hair, gorgeous glamorous makeup, slammin bod in sensational dress, finished with killer shoes.

  • EEKstl

She just got it right, head to toe.  From the hair to the red lipstick, dress, nails, just the right jewelry and those kick-ass shoes, it’s perfection.  Snaps up indeed!

  • GorgeousThings

    I LOVE that dress!

  • Ah, that’s the design Project Runway Dmitry may have ripped. I like the black panels, but I hate those pockets and how they overlap with said panels. I also find their low placement unflattering. The dress is a tad too long. This is not meant to be a short dress. This is a curve-hugging dress for a woman with nice curves; howver, I’d prefer the dress slightly above the knee. The hair’s great. Since I  have immensely dense curly hair, Kelly’s hair & its styling fully resonates with me.

  • bitterk

    She is fierce

  • LambeeBaby

    Magnificent, head to spiked toe.
