Vogue Paris: Le Noir – Partie 2

Posted on August 20, 2012

Darlings, your pretty of the day, it is here. A little stark, a little scary, and a little in need of mascara at the moment, but nonetheless, very pretty. It’s a shame they’re running this in the September issue, because it would make one kickass Halloween editorial. The shot where she’s standing in the field wearing the black Gucci dress is downright eerie. Like something from a fabulously styled nightmare.

We think it’s long past time to update the whole Wicked Witch iconography and make her a fashiontastic diva bitch. Just think of how much more fabulous all those front-door Halloween decorations would be if the witches all wore Chanel. Who’s with us?

the shot in the Gucci dress is like a couture clad scarecrow, love it!

Come into the field, and be consumed. I am waiting for you,……..

    • TieDye64

It’s striking and eerie and fabulous, isn’t it?

      • schadenfreudelicious

intensely so, one of the most striking editorials i have seen in a long while….

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Wow. Is that one on stilts or is she really just that tall?

I think I’m going to have nightmares now….

  • call_me_schmeg

nothin gives me the heebie jeebies quite like a lack of eyebrows. yowza.

  • Qitkat

    Pretty damn cool.

Me, I’m terrified of the gal in the second picture. Those eyebrows!

  • out for a walk

Pretty! And is it just me or does the model look a lot like Claire Danes in some of these shots?

    • Qitkat

I almost posted the same thing :)

    • turtleemily

I was thinking Gwyneth Paltrow, especially the YSL shot.

  • trisker

completely agree about Halloween. Some fabulous bitchwitch stuff here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

Looks like Elena from PR is “on trend” after all.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I totally agree with the stark and weird and eerie, but they’re beautifully done photos. And they would have really been great for Halloween – they have a little of a scary Hitchcock feel.

  • Joyce VG

This is so beautiful. I know some fabulous witches who dress like this…although not in Chanel.

  • Squarah

The shot in the YSL is my fave, but I’m all about this spread. I never buy U.S. flavor Vogue because it bores the daylights out of me, but I am so here for this. Why are all of the international Vogues so much more interesting? I think Vogue Korea is my favorite.

  • j_anson

Hey, I dig the whole American Gothic Inquisition Fashionista vibe they’re putting out.

    • MilaXX

Yes very American Gothic, but i like it!

  • frannyprof

    Love love love

  • marilyn

What a cheesy background. Didn’t Vogue have enough money in the budget to spring for a real field for the models to stand in? The clothes look too costumey-you kinow, vampire/Amish. They would have been great in the Dark Shadows movie. In fact, Johnny Depp might have wanted to wear some of them. What a mess.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

this fabulous post made me realize i have not had a SWINTON fix in a while.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i dont know why they didnt incorporate the haider ackerman gloves into this business. theyre one of the very bestest of best elements out of all this stuff.

  • TomBord

    Ornate Amish.

  • alyce1213

The hats struck me as being a bit Hasidic.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Oh em gee. The stark lines, the saturated colors. I love this. There’s a Magritte feeling to a few of the shots, and something Bauhaus to the aesthetic. The sharp edge to her bob. Le sigh. Love, love, love.

This also marks the first time I have wanted a piece designed by Versace. I’ll take that coat, boob crosses and all, thanks.

    • DeTrop

That Versace coat is a must have.

      • Introspective

The single piece in this editorial Id cut a witch for is that Versace coat.

        Lurv.

  • Anathema_Device

I love the saturated colors of the landscapes. A great background for the stark clothing. The model is really rocking those outfits. Well done.

  • Spreecord

It’s like Karin Dreijer Andersson decided to style a shoot for Vogue Paris.

  • SapphoPoet

Andrew Wyeth goes goth. This is beautiful.

  • guest2visits

Yes scary, but fantastical; at least they were TRYING to be a chilly hoot, instead of incidentally.
Creepy or not; I stil like the first three desgns: Chanel, Ackermann, and Celine. And I like the sleeveless version of the Prada.

  • Stefanos Mantyla

Suvi Koponen! So glad to see someone from my country wind up here!

  • RzYoung

    Striking! I love it.

  • DeborahJozayt

Hey! The Disqus went back to the better/old format. Yay!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

Yay is right!  I couldn’t figure out that new format to save me and accidentally deleted my post.

  • mjude

    love

  • Rachel Council

If The Crucible had been styled like this I probably would have liked the movie version better.

  • SewingSiren

Children of the Corn. I love it.

  • afabulous50

    Very children of the corn….

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

The distant shot in which she’s bent at the same angle as the tree is glorious.

  • PinkLemon

    LOVE

  • Le_Sigh

WICKED GORGE.  I always pictured Elphalba from Wicked dressed like this.

  • KSpence

LOVE the tree in that Gucci shot.

  • Lotta Löytönen

Suvi is such a wicked editorial model.

  • joything

The first pantsuit, Chanel, is MINE.

Photographers & Stagers – Go to Korea to learn how to do it right! Don’t love the editorial

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

Guess Elena of PR is “on trend” after all.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

On vacation and just catching up but I had to comment on this post. It’s exquisite. Thank you TLo because ‘wow!’ that is some odd, eerie, gorgeous. The Gucci yes but the Givenchy and the YSL are amazing pics. And I want the Prada so much it hurts.

  • texashistorian

No. 9 (Gucci in a field) made me laugh out loud. Dunno if that’s the effect they were going for…
