Darlings, we’re feeling GRANDIOSE all of a sudden!

The Hollywood Arms in Chelsea, London

Doesn’t that look comfy and well-stocked? What better place to gather and watch attention whores claw at each other for cash prizes?

Guest judge Krysten Ritter, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and Heidi Klum from the third challenge of Project Runway season 10.

Tonight sees the return of some long-missed faces (some more than others — okay, some not at ALL) in the Project Runway (Dysfunctional) Family. Will we wind up clawing at the screens in fury? Possibly!

Apparently, the little hardscrabble misfits will be designing for the Emmys, with PR alums serving as the clients.

Should be … interesting.

Oh, jeez. Bitches is gonna get CUT.

“I’M FASHION FORWARD!” yells the gal dressed like an 8-year-old in 1947. Self-awareness.

Anyway, what’s for dinner tonight, we asked hungrily? If our pre-Fashion Week diet was a car, then we drove it off a cliff last night by going out and having a several-course meal at a fantastic restaurant, with two of those courses being “pasta” and “dessert.” To make up for that, we’re having delicious bowls of air and refreshing water-on-a-stick for dinner tonight.

No, seriously. What are you having? If we can’t eat food, we’ll at least read about it.

I think the team that includes Frokemon designing for Irina is going to be a disaster.
Ven ought to be able to do something that satisfies Kenley, I don’t know about the Freegan though.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Mkay, so, as usual, I will be working through all the fun. So that said, kittens, set your Uncle Kiltd up with some good champagne, and keep it coming. It promises to be a bumpy night, both at my work, and on PR.

      • Call me Bee

You got it–and it’s on me, as I hate to see anyone working during PR.  On a related note, scored a silver-plate champagne bucket at a garage sale today.  For $2.50!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Shut UP! How lucky are you?!!! What a great find. And thanks for carrying the champagne tab. Next ones on me!

          • EveEve

no no no Uncle Kiltd – I’ll take the second round.  I’m closed up in my bedroom, hiding from my s.o.’s visiting relatives because of my sudden “migraine.”   oh shut up.

            • norseofcourse

              Been there.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              I’ll join you.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Well, darling, as Margo Channing would say, fasten your seat belt.  We’ll keep the champagne chilled for you!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Bless you. Well iced, and lots of it! We having a saying here, built from years of experience. Anytime something weird is going on in the store, we say, “it’s Thursday”. Because in our experience, if someone crazy, or something wacky is going to descend, it’s most alays on Thursday. Usually Thursday night. Wanna guess who the manger is on that night every week?

          • EveEve

            And it’s a full-moon Thursday no less!

          • Susan Crawford

As a former retailer myself, I can tell you that you know whereof you speak: Thursday nights bring out all sorts of odd goings on.

From demanding customers to stock room disasters to sales staff returning tipsy from a three martini dinner break . . . It all happens on a Thursday evening. (And if there happens to be a full moon on a Thursday evening, my advice is to call in sick, dear Kiltd!)

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Thanks for the advice, my employers just might get suspicious when I turn up sick every Thursday. Lol I can take it, been at this gig 26 years now. Bring on those tweakers and freaks!

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Well iced and a couple of magnums, dear! May you get throught tonight without undue angst!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

Lamb-burgers made with cumin, garlic, mint, and whatever else seems right….  And a Greek salad.  And a non-Greek margarita.

    • Call me Bee

      Hello, gentlemen!
We are dieting here as well, so I just whipped up a little curry chicken salad to be served on some baby lettuce.  And waiting for The Hubs to come home so that I my eat it, for I am as hungry as you are.
      Yes.  I am.
What wine goes with that?  Red?  White?  Oh what the hell.  Give me a Stoli on the rocks with a couple of olives.  They are’t too caloric, are they?
Re: the episode–I love the scene in which the PR alumnus (I can’t tell who it is..) tells the designer to go get a needle and thread and FIX IT!!  Lazy designers will not get far.

      • lintvedta

I think that was Meana Irina.  Can’t wait.

        • Call me Bee

          Oh delish!

        • janierainie

Yes, she”s apparently paired with Frokeman.

          • lintvedta

I was always fascinated by and scared of her at the same time.

    • Maria Rosenfire

I can’t wait to watch Laura Bennett cut these bitches down to size.

Also, is it wrong to desperately hope that she gets Buffi and Frokemon? Because that is my sincerest wish for the evening.

ETA: Oh, never mind, I see that only half of my wish is fulfilled. Drat!

      • http://www.facebook.com/cue5c Conner Emery

If the pictures are anything to go by she has Buffi and Elena, which is almost just as good. Their styles are completely separate and both have nothing to do with Laura’s. I’m hoping for a classy rainbow brite dystopian nightmare.

      • http://www.facebook.com/cue5c Conner Emery

Haha, just saw your edit. If it makes you feel better, Frokemon is designing for Irina who has a complete aversion to color.

    • SewingSiren

I just finished making a turkey tenderloin roasted with hot peppers and onions, brown rice on the stove top, and a green salad with cucumbers, baby bella mushrooms and lettuce.

    • Violina23

I’m strangely looking forward to this challenge.  I think it’s got a unique angle, you know, after 10 seasons of this show.

I made chicken with cream-of-chicken-soup & mozzeralla, topped with croutons. Served with brown rice & vegetables (fresh-picked Green beens and carrots).  Not too shabby for a weekday meal. Impressed the 2 year old, but then again she thinks rice is the best thing ever ;)

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She’s right!  Rice is the best thing ever!  :)

      • terpsichory

you say: brown rice & vegetables
        I hear: Showgirls

        I should go to bed…

        • Violina23

Now I’m going to have to find a creative way to explain why I start laughing the next time I give my daughter brown rice ;-)

    • NCDFan

Grilled cheese sandwich with graham crackers and chocolate for dessert. Pitiful.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I dunno, that sounds pretty freaking delicious to me.

      • http://www.facebook.com/cue5c Conner Emery

It’s probably reads a lot less pitiful from people who aren’t eating carbs.

      • Spicytomato1

I think I have you beat in the pitiful department: Klondike bar. It’s dark chocolate, so at least there’s that.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I love grilled cheese with bacon and tomato.

    • jennifervney

I am SO STOKED for this episode!! Old designer drama meets new designer drama, yes!!

As for dinner, it is my anniversary so the hubs and I are going somewhere nice! I’ll be back to soup and or salad tomorrow to make up for it. :)

      • DinaSews

        Happy anniversary!

    • Kathy Schrenk

      Oh Kenley. Dear God.
But who are the ones on either side of April?

      • SewingSiren

Irina, the LA season winner and Valerie.

        • terpsichory

Valerie? Which season? What schtick? She was the only one I couldn’t identify. And I watched every episode.

          • Call me Bee

I don’t remember her season, but she was the first in Project Runway history to call something cray-cray. :)

            • lintvedta

Valerie was on the season that Gretched won.  I think she’s adorable.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Ah, Kenley-nothing says fashion forward like white knee socks- NOT.

      Love the bar, TLO!

    • GorgeousThings

Well. I’m on a diet too, and I just spent two days in New York with my husband, blowing my calorie count out of the water. So tonight I had arugula salad with cold grilled chicken and light balsamic vinaigrette.

      With water.

But the meal at Wine:30 was worth it!

    • StelledelMare

Baked salmon with scalloped potatoes and some sort of cake for dessert if I feel up to baking it. I am so ready for this episode.

    • GorgeousThings

PS – Kenley, honey, “fashion forward” does not include too-tight yellow peter pan collar dresses, Minnie Mouse hair bows and white knee socks with ugly shoes. “Fashion victim” is more like it.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m picturing Kenley at 50, still in that dress with knee socks and the Minnie Mouse bows…..

        • Teddy Partridge

           … or 80.

        • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Eww…shades of a Kenley as Baby Jane Hudson are now in my head!

    • kimmeister

Tonight we’ll be having mussels in a sauce of coconut milk, shallots, and some other stuff, accompanied by tabouleh on a bed of greens.  Polished off the last of the panna cottas yesterday, so I think I’ll just have blueberries and ice cream for dessert

      • Call me Bee

Seriously–send me that recipe for the mussels.  We love cooking them , and Hubs is always looking for new ways.

        • kimmeister

It’s a new recipe I cut out of the newspaper a few weeks ago, I have no idea if it’s any good or not!  I’ll keep you posted.

        • kimmeister

They turned out very tasty!  Here’s what I can recall: saute a minced shallot, 2-3 minced cloves of garlic, and a minced chile (like jalapeno or serrano) in oil in pot for 3 min.  Add 2 lbs of carefully rinsed mussels and 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut milk, allow to cook for 5-7 min.  Then add zest from 1/2 of a lemon, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, and 1/2 tsp fish sauce.  I might be forgetting something but that’s the gist!  Soaked up the sauce with some bread called it good. :-)

      • MilaXX

         mmmmm tabouleh

        • Spicytomato1

          mmmmmm mussels!

    • Susan Crawford

For dinner, I’m having a Caprese salad with home-grown tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil followed by some blueberries.

Then I’m heading for the TLounge, where  I will plop down into that purple tufted chair and order a bottle of Provencal rose wine – just right for an evening of gossip, clothes-ripping and bitchery.

This is a challenge that should prove excellent value after some of the cracktastic challenges we’ve groaned through: stiltwalker couture; (UN)Real Housewives design; Rock-band from Hell Costumes . . . oh, dear, I need to open that rose right now!

So let me pose a question, Commentariat Compatriots: Why do YOU think Wretchen was not part of this epic reunion? And wouldn’t you like to see Ping as dressed by the Frokemon Team? And I would KILL to see Peach paired up with Clinique Deux and Costello-Lite. Oh, so many ways to set up a real bitch-fest with this challenge – let’s make it an annual event! I can honestly say this is the first time this season I am salivating for the show to start.

So if you have nothing nice to say, come sit by me!

      • Call me Bee

(…runs right over to sit next to Susan…)  I’ve always wondered about this kind of thing, either when they bring back former contestants, or do something like All-Stars or Masters.  I’m sure some come back for the cash, and some cannot come back because of conflicts.  And some stay away because they just want the PR experience behind them and move on.  It would be cool to see more of our faves–Michael Knight, Seth Aaron and Jay.  But, reallly, who knows why people do what they do?  LOL…

I’ll have another vodka.  Hubs isn’t home yet–I’ll be gnawing on my arm pretty soon…

        • Susan Crawford

Bee, bitchy & Baxter Baby, you’re my kind of folks! We’ll definitely have some fun this evening – can you see Laura in last week’s candy one-shoulder overalls? Or Irina in Frokemon’s cotton candy meltaway? Ooooh, it’s gonna be big trouble in the workroom tonight! Hope St. Tim of Gunn will be wearing his summer weight, double-breasted chain mail to avoid the flying insults!

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Oh, I’m just imagining the look on La Bennett’s face at the sight of those overalls! And summer-weight chainmail?  Fab!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’d love to see Peach Carr school Clinique!

      • baxterbaby

Do you think Buffi and Alicia will put the elegant Laura B. in a one shoulder shortall with fun neon accents and Betsy Johnson-esque accessories?  And have her cartwheel down the runway?

Spiced vegetable couscous with an avocado, orange and almond salad for me (I’m working my way through Jacqueline Clark’s Mediterranean cookbook!) for supper, but the bloodbath that will be PR this evening (Kenley AND a team challenge?  Really?) calls for G&T’s made with Bombay Sapphire and easy on the T.

        • MilaXX

I so want your dinner. That sounds yummy!

          • baxterbaby

It was easy! and so good.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I suspect that Laura will handle those two with her usual aplomb. This episode does have such possibilities!

    • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

Truthfully, I think this is going to be an amazing episode.  Um…does everyone have their blood pressure medicine handy?  I strongly suggest…oh, a Top Shelf Long Beach. Twice as strong as usual…

That ought to keep the hypertension down, don’t you think?

    • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

This is an adorable, adorable place – you guys are making me so happy with all the London venues.

I’d love a champagne with strawberries. And a cup of maraschino cherries because I’m weird.

Can’t wait to see what this challenge brings to life!

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Champagne, strawberries AND maraschino cherries??!  Well, yeah, OK!!!  :)

        • Sweetbetty

Someone who used to work picking and processing cherries in the Pacific northwest recently told me how maraschino cherries are made and it will be hard for me to ever enjoy one again.  Ignorance truly is bliss.

          • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

I once read that you could bury one for decades, dig it up and it would look the same.

    • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

       Good luck with everything!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

The Disqus gremlins play with our comments!

    • MilaXX

dinner’s kinda borng here. ear pasta, with green beans, corn and white sauce (extra garlic) and a salad (romaine, grape tomato, avocado, pickle juice). I am however, having another frozen vodka drink during the show.

Show looks like a lot drama, I cannot wait. Also? Fabio in a skirt. You guys should put up a pole as to who will be the most obnoxious. I think one of the newbies is gonna put Kenley to shame. Speaking of which, she looks like one of the kids in the Dick & Jane primers.

      • l_c_ann

For some reason, that expression on Kenley’s face reminds me of Pee Wee Herman in drag.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Dinner for tonight, since I’m really feeling wretched from Cycle 6 on Tuesday?  Invalid’s food:  two soft boiled eggs in well-salted and buttered Cream of Wheat, with toast.  I think your banquet last night beats that all to heck, but I could no more tolerate your yummy yesterday’s repast than… well, ANYA.

The oldies, goodies, goofies and ghastlies will make for a good diversion tonight.  I’m really looking forward to seeing Laura Bennett be her inimitable self once more, and laser-focused Jillian, too.  Doubt that S10′s people will truly appreciate the august company they’re keeping.

Drink for me, BKs, minions and PUFs!  We can all watch together and say fiddle-dee-dee to the drought.

      • Wendi126

        Hope you start feeling better..

      • Rand Ortega

Lots of hugs, dearest. Calorie free & hopefully a bit nutritious. Feel better.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m sending gentle hugs and positive thoughts as you eat your eggs, dear. Feel better.

        • SRQkitten

Positive thoughts coming yr way, NDC, so that you’ll be back to a more varied menu and drinks with us! And the best of bitter kitten health!

Is it just me or is this season diverting off the complete train wreck direction that was last season? Dare I hope?

Came home from full week of nuttiness to my dh having cooked farfalle pasta with spinach, baby bellas and shallot sauce that is one of my favorites. Definitely worth the stack of dishes in the sink! Now trying to decide the alcohol to finish it off…..decisions, decisions.

          srq

      • Call me Bee

You poor thing. Just keep your eyes on the prize–so the present crap is tolerable. Sending more good thoughts you way…

        • NDC_IPCentral

Bee – Tuesday was my last infusion of both Taxol and Paraplatin; I only have two more Taxol infusions next Tues and the following, and that’s IT.   So, you betcha, the end is in sight, which makes today’s and tonight’s discomfort quite bearable.  Was just on the phone with my sis, and we were agreed on that happy point.  Of course, my eyebrows are dissolving (I mean, they just disappear!), and I’m losing more hair on my scalp (and I have the shortest little-boy’s cut), but that will grow back in the fall — I hope!

    • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

Just reading these entries, I see some delish entrees.  Cookbook anyone?  we had leftovers tonight – reheated pork tenderloin, mac and cheese and corn on the cob (reheated in the microwave – ugh, don’t even bother).
However I have a new bottle of tequila and margarita mix.  Hope the webcam doesn’t work both ways so T LO can’t see the ensuing hilarity.

    • http://twitter.com/thedogsmother thedogsmother

We have a new Project Runway apprentice here tonight and she’s never met The Laura Bennett or Kenley. I think her head is going to explode!

    • Anathema_Device

I’m only having salad tonight. Sorry. Not helping to fuel your vicarious eating. It’s too hot for anything heavier.

      • Scoobydrew

Agreed. Plain old iceburg lettuce, carrots and tomatoes from my Mom’s garden with a bit of Salata … the best vinegar ever. For dessert  -  Peaches and Strawberries … soaking in a glass of sangria

    • Teddy Partridge

      Whatever Happened to Baby Kenley?

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Which designer shall we cast for the Joan Crawford role?  I’m thinking  Casanova or Clinique Counter.

        • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think Santino would make an excellent Joan Crawford.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Oh.My.God.  Santino as Joan Crawford-I love it!

            • bitchybitchybitchy

I just had a thought-imagine Austin Scarlett and Santino doing Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? wouldn’t that be incredibly campy?

            • terpsichory
        • emcat8

Oh, Miss Clinique — two of the most annoying people in PR history at each other’s throats? Divine!

    • Wendi126

I’m alone tonight and having chopped fresh picked from the garden tomatoes with fresh basil and aged provolone and a little sea salt and a bottle of Prosecco! TLo I’m right outside Philly so come on over! What restaurant did you go to last night?

      • Wendi126

I forgot the crusty Italian bread?…yum

      • MilaXX

         Hello Neighbor. I’m in Germantown.

    • Sara__B

Dinner tonight is quick and easy — BLTs with some sliced turkey, too, and fresh-from-the-garden lettuce and tomatoes. Here’s hoping PR will be as good as it looks, since it’s competing with the Olympics for my attention.

      • MilaXX

Considering NBC’s coverage sucks that shouldn’t be hard. Although if you are on twitter, follow Samuel L Jackson. He is watching EVERYTHING and his commentary is hilarious.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

Tonight’s tasty repast comes courtesy of that fine gourmet grocer Costco — rotisserie chicken along with broccoli and bella mushrooms stir-fried in lots of garlic, olive oil and peppers. Yum.

    • boweryboy

Tonight my partner and I are treating ourselves to our once a month dinner splurge by having some nouveau French cuisine at RN74.

I’ll drink a glass of wine to TLo and eagerly await your recap since I don’t watch anymore – partly because we cancelled our cable and partly because I have no interest in sussing out the episodes online.

    • guest2visits

I can hardly believe some of these lounges are even real. Too gorgeous.

    • michelle shields

Is the whole world dieting? I feel like a rabbit I have been eating so much salad. Had to skip the salad tonight before I started sprouting. Bone-in ribeye, sweet potatoes and sauteed green beans.
I love that bar! Might have to visit next year when we hit up London.
Tonight’s trainwreck should be a good one. Can’t wait to see Laura give these girls an lesson or two in what elegance really is!

      • MilaXX

Im weird I guess. I like salad. even when I eat bad and have like pizza  or something I have a small salad.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

I’m really impressed by some of the BK menus for this evening – clearly TLo’s next publishing masterpiece will have to be the PUF’s Cookbook.  Bon Appetit everyone!

I posted this yesterday on the PR thread on the Whiteboard so forgive me for cutting and pasting it here:

It’ll actually be interesting to see what the other returning designers think of her [the S9 "winner"]and how she’s treated by them. They will, of course, be immune to the pheromones which stupefied most of the male designers from her season…  In my mind I’m seeing Laura, Irina, Mila and April being polite but cold and stopping just short of sneering.  Valerie will probably be friendly because she’s a total sweetheart and Kenley will, well, Kenley will be loud.Of course, I’ll have to rely on TLo and the BKs for the full report because I’m not bloody watching!I’m almost tempted to tune in just to see Laura or Irina cut her down to size.  I’d pay to see that…  Imagine having the balls to even stand in the same room as them!  Does that woman have no shame?!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m interested to see the reactions to Anya, too.  Somehow if anyone was genuinely cutting toward her I think the Bunim-Murray crew would edit that out. I looked at TLo’s ripping the collections post for Anya the other day (yes, I am a glutton for punishment), and it reminded me of just why I couldn’t watch the finale for Season 9-Ugh.

      • Lisa_Cop

No. She’s like the original fame-whore. She probably doesn’t even care what is designed for her, as long as she is on tv again. Ughh!

      • NCDFan

The dress they made her wear was revenge enough for me.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think this lounge might be the prettiest I’ve ever seen.

      • Call me Bee

Agreed! I failed to mention that in my post. I love the mix of modern and Jolly Olde England.

    • emcat8

I hate to admit it, but since I have a book to finish copyediting tonight, it’s likely to be pita chips and hummus. So sad.

I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to check in with the TLounge yet this season. I’ve missed y’all. And I wondered if anyone knew where Scotty was these days? I haven’t seen a post from him in ages and I miss his wit!

      • Rand Ortega

Agree! No sign of Gotham Tomato, either. Miss you both!

        • emcat8

Oh man, you’re right, Gotham Tomato’s gone walkabout too!

          • 3boysful

They were two of my favs!  Please come home, Absent Bitter Kittens!

      • MilaXX

I dunno. I miss his wit.

        • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

The Fierce Black Queen is doing his own thing now.

    • Miranda Prince

At least have a salad, darlings! Starving yourselves is just silly.

We’re having Thai food, delivered. It’s almost like we live in New York or something! :-)

    • Super_Red

I won’t be able to watch it until tomorrow, but I’m oddly excited about this episode. As far as dinner, I’m having a banger in the mouth!(or is that sausage in the mouth?) … Seriously- sausages and mashed potatoes. Next week should start my water and air diet though, so I feel your pain.

      • unpious

A squirt of frosting down the throat helps to take your medication, in the most delicious way!

Dinner tonight for me was a beautiful whole chicken, barbequed. With quinoa on the side, to make it healthy. For the Lounge I’ll be having the vodka that was opened earlier, because it goes bad once it’s opened.

        • Call me Bee

Just keep it in the freezer–where it should be at all times…

        • Super_Red

unpious, I think I love you. :) Myself, I’ll be drinking non-alcoholic wine- I haven’t let it sit long enough for it to turn into alcohol yet.

    • http://twitter.com/NinjaCate Cate Young

Can I just say, I love Anya (I know, stone me) but that hair colour… ugh.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Considering that Any generally had a good style sense, that hair color is a misfire for her.  No, we will not stone a fellow BK!

    • Samuel Donovan

      Get some celery!

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Farmer’s market tonight, so we have our choice of delicious fresh-squeezed juices and locally made sausages/pizzas/empanadas. In addition to all the locally grown popcorn and almonds to munch on…mmm.

    • Daenyx

I spent altogether too long making a broccoli casserole and have hereby decided that anything that takes more than 15 minutes hands-on time to make is not worth the trouble when I’m the only one eating it.

Unless it’s a pan of cookies.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Cookies are always the exception to that rule!

    • rainwood1

I just came back from the local farmer’s market where they have the most delicious hot, fresh naan with olive oil, cilantro & garlic spread on the top.  So, so good.  Fresh raspberries and peaches for dessert.  I love summer time when the living is easy and the produce is outstanding (we’re in the PNW where there is no drought this year and it’s a bumper crop for cherries).

      • Susan Crawford

I’ve definitely been enjoying those PNW cherries this summer! They brighten up a fruit salad, taste exquisite in salads, and I made a great cherry “salsa” and topped grilled chicken breasts with it last week – YUM! Here’s to the wonderful, showery PNW that produces such deliciousness.

        • rainwood1

Ooooooh, cherry salsa sounds fantastic.  Recipe?

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Oh, I like the sound of the cherry “salsa”…yum!

    • understateddiva

I had some pho (Vietnamese soup) – got the super-traditional kind with weird meat bits in.  Lovely flavor but a little unnerving.  I hope somebody does Kenley up in Katy Perry drag.

    • Snailstsichr

This is a totally beautiful bar!! I feel so elegant.

I’m finishing leftover meatloaf and broccoli – how dull is that?  – and having a bowl of sugar free ice cream. I don’t want the ice cream, mind you; I just need the calcium. Um hum, that’s my story.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Dinner tonight will be an IV of dilaudid, if the hospital is not staffed by unfeeling sadists. After that I plan to be too sleepy to eat.

      • NDC_IPCentral

Good, healing thoughts to you, Shannon.  Keep tough, and keep an eye on that hospital staff, but make ‘em your friends. It’s better that way.  We’re pulling for you.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Are you kidding?  I bring the nurses cookies — I find it gets me drugs in a more reliable fashion.  Doctors only get cookies if they win the diagnosis pool.

      • Rand Ortega

Take care, Lovely Shannon. The BK’s & PUF’s are pulling for you!

      • Eclectic Mayhem

        Feel better Shannon!

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

After two injections of dilaudid, I may not feel better — I’m not really sure — but if I don’t, I certainly don’t care, either.  Sometimes I wonder if they really give it to me for pain, or if they do it just so I’ll stop harassing them.

      • formerlyAnon

Gosh, I hope you’re on the pathway to better – and that our collective good wishes bring some small encouragement.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Thanks all.  Tonight was a bad one.  They tried out another migraine medication on me yesterday — Imitrex and amitriptyline this time — and it does nothing good.  Whatever is wrong, it very much dislikes migraine meds.  But when you tell a doctor you have head pain, they are apparently contractually obligated to believe it is a migraine until they see for themselves that it’s not.

    • muzan-e

      Krysten Ritter!

Sorry. I have nothing useful or interesting to add. I just felt a need to exclaim it excitedly because, y’know. It’s Krysten Ritter!  And my excruciating girl-crush demands satisfaction. *g*

    • Snailstsichr

If you eat the dough, you don’t have to wait on the oven — just an effeciency tip!

    • Kimbolina

I’m honestly shocked and amazed that producers didn’t find a way to fix it so that Costello-lite and Clinique Jr. were paired together.

    • 3boysful

Ate some sushi before I scooted out to a book reading; just came home and am finishing up the rest of the family’s masked potatoes!  With pinot gris.  I be bad.

    • granddelusion

I’m starting to love Michael C. Lite.

    • poggi

Homemade ricotta gnocchi and pork ragu.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

        That sounds amaaaaazing.

        • poggi

Thanks. I made extra ricotta so I am going to go smear some on Italian bread when I get home and eat it!

    • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

Okay, Gunnar’s hair looks too much like chocolate-vanilla twist froyo for me to take him seriously. I just want to pour some sprinkles on his head.

      • funkypeanut

And hot fudge? And slide a brownie under his butt. Hmmm, I wonder if the ice cream place is still open.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Lexus colors in the garment?  What awkward product synergy…..

      • DeTrop

Agree.  So bland.  The Emmy’s in Lexus Gray.  Who comes up with these ideas?

    • Maria Rosenfire

Oh for fuck’s sake, prostitutional product placement AND a 1-day challenge? I’m already irked.

      • MilaXX

for some reason I’m not. So looking forward to the crack that comes down the runway.

    • MilaXX

So we have Lexus, Emmy dresses, teams & old designers?  *pops popcorn*

      • Eclectic Mayhem

        It sounds like PR Bingo…!

    • Call me Bee

That restaurant in the background was featured on Top Chef and some other cooking shows, no??

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Frokemon and Quentin!  The look on Elena’s face when she was paired with Buffi was reminiscent of a female Snape-Comrade Snapanova?

Nathan and Sonjia  and Christropher and Andrea look like low drama teams…but who knows?

      • baxterbaby

I want Fro and Quent’s hairdos to get married and have babies.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

IRINA! What did you do to your beautiful face?!

I like the dress Anya is wearing, I admit. Super cute.

      • Kimbolina

Doubt she made it herself though.  It has sleeves…

        • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Plus it’s actually fitted to her body.

    • dharmabum8

Oh my, Irina and Frokemon. Could get ugly.

    • SnackBandit

No Judy Noodles as a guest client?  *sad*

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I miss Judy Noodles!! She’s got a very particular and fun personal style, too, so that would have been fun. Not sure how it would have translated into red carpet wear, though.

        • SnackBandit

Leanne is one of my fav designers…but I guess because she isn’t a bitchy personality, they didn’t bring her back (or maybe she is just too fabulously busy designing for clients?  We can only hope).

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Mila looks fabulous. Love the earrings.

      Poor Laura.

Laura Bennett is one of my all-time favorites. I’m so glad to see her.

    • Call me Bee

Dimitry & Melissa with April may turn out really cool. Or turn into disaster.

    • dschubba

As far as food, I’ve been craving rice all day, so I’m digging into a big bowl of it right now. With a glass of wine. It’s very dorm room flashback, but I don’t care.

Of course Anya wants someone to make her a structured dress. Of course.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I know, I loved that part — I only caught a few minutes of the episode, then I had to watch the 200 IM and then I got to come home, but I’m much looking forward to the gnashing of teeth while watching tomorrow morning:)

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Tim looks like he has beardburn. Who were YOU just snogging, Sir Tim?

(Yes, I am spreading salacious rumors about Tim Gunn.)

    • MilaXX

Is it me or did Chris just throw shade at Andrea?

    • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

Husband has TV priority tonight so I’ll be watching this at 10:30, sigh. But we’re eating grilled chipotle chicken sausage with mango, grilled corn, tiny yellow tomatoes, avocado, chile lime pistachios over spinach with a fresh orange juice & olive oil dressing. Last night was even better, pan seared scallops, new potatoes, crispy bacon over arugula with lemon olive oil topped with a poached egg. Then I made brownies. Let’s not talk about that set back.

Wish I was watching with the Bitter Kittens, but at least I can obsessively follow your comments now.

I like to listen to Snape say charmeuse. Say it again! Say it again!

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I know, right?! There’s something about the word in his accent that is oddly fascinating/hilarious.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Well, Lifetime’s commercial break time is so long I can watch a lot of the Olympics, so long as NBC isn’t synching its commercials to Lifetime’s.

      • CozyCat

Actually, I tried to watch all of PR during the commercial breaks from the olympics. (I’m one of those once-a four-years gymnastic geeks).  Almost pulled it off–but I would have missed the final decision in one or the other, so I just gave nbc the audience it paid for after a certain point….

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Dudes, it’s not that hard to suss out Mila’s style. Make her something black and chic and a little mod, style it well, and call it day. Not terribly complicated.

    • MilaXX

Wow I’m kind of excited to see Valerie in that. Hopefully with a red lip.

    • MilaXX

      Love Laura!

    • Call me Bee

I wonder if they will eliminate both people on a team…

    • MilaXX

Mmm are we looking at one of the rumoured runners?

      • GillianHolroyd

I’d much rather have it be her than Andrea.

      • Kimbolina

I had the same exact thought so I went and checked to see where she’s from…  She’s from San Fran so I don’t think she’s the runner.  Wish she was though…

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Elena needs to calm the fuck down. I have a lot of empathy for perfectionists – I’m one myself – but jeez, they’re not going to take you out behind Parsons and shoot you. Perspective.

    • lessax3

Perhaps reality competition is not for you Elena(sp)?

    • dschubba

Elena’s got a very valid point about the time scale, but crying and deflection isn’t going to slow anything down.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Besides which, has she ever seen the show before? I mean, yes, a day for a red carpet challenge is ridiculous, but that’s Project Runway for you.

      • emily mcginnis

and then to go smoke, but later make a huge deal out of Buffi wanting to eat?

        • MilaXX

and Buffi is nice not to bring it up.

      • MilaXX

But she was told her outfit was a bit ambitious. That’s when you edit and course correct.

    • Kimbolina

I feel so bad for Buffi.

      • DeTrop

Is she channeling Lady GaGa?  I like her but that voice after awhile – eeek!

    • NDC_IPCentral

It is so apparent that the “confessional” footage is shot at some other time – makes the episode that much more manufactured and fake-y.

    • ASK26

I can’t really see that pink for laura . but hopefully it’ll surprise me

    • lessax3

The Kenley dress does not look Red carpet to me.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Totally agree. It’s a very cute day dress, but not at all red carpet, Emmys especially. Hopefully something will come together better on the runway?

      • MilaXX

It looks more Golden Globes than Emmy’s

    • ASK26

      were those

    • dschubba

Dying at “Snoop Doggy Dogg press and curl”

    • baxterbaby

“Honey, I love ya.  Just sew the skirt”  Best line of the night!

    • ASK26

Kenley was eating that hair and makeup up. Mila seemed shocked. Irina was right!!

    • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

The problem to me with one day for a red carpet challenge is it invariably produces a runway full of ass. The ensuing meltdowns are much less satisfying (at least to the T-Lo audience) than getting to see what these designers can do with a reasonable time constraint.

    • 3boysful

Best of the night (thus far):

Ven’s skeptic up-down look at Kenley’s declaration that she is “fashion-forward”; and

Laura’s “a first in PR history!” in the workroom.

    • dharmabum8

      Aww, Frokemon is sad. :-(

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I am sad when Frokemon is sad.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Look at Laura WERQing that runway!

      • Susan Crawford

        I have SUCH a girl-crush on Laura! I want a play-date with her – a play-date with wine and fabulous shoes!

        • CozyCat

Will she let me play with her fabulous Louis Luggage?

        • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Me too!  I’ve had a girl crush on her since day one!  Can I join your play date?  ;)

    • GillianHolroyd

April looks good. Loved Kenley’s hair and the dress was chic.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Ooh, Mila looks PISSED. As well she should be. She’s funky and cool and has a great body and that dress does not do a thing for her.

Valerie, on the other hand, looks HOT. You WERQ those sparkles, girl.

      • MilaXX

Agreed. I think hope Valerie’s team wins.

    • MilaXX

      Laura’s dress needs jewelry
      Anya”s needs color
Kenley’s looks good, but not for Emmy’s
      April’s looks a bit tight?
Don’t like Mila’s. It makes her look wide. Hate the hair.
Irina looks really good. hem is a bit short
      Oh I like Valerie. Sexy!

My top 2 are Irina & Valerie, with Kenley in 3rd place

    • lessax3

      Valerie looks amazing!

    • emily mcginnis

i cannot believe some of those were just “safe.”

    • Victoria Reyes

I thought team dimitry and team sonjia were the top two!

      • Susan Crawford

Those two REALLY know how to make the Brother Sewing Machines sing in harmony.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

    • dharmabum8

      Team Charmeuse o/ !

    • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

Ven and Fabio for the WIN. Can’t believe I’m saying it, but I thought Kenley looked AH-mazing on that runway, down to the hair and makeup. I hope that it counts as a red carpet dress because the whole look really struck me.

I’d take Sonjia and Nathan as a close second, though.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

It was an absolutely perfect dress for her – they really did do an updated Grace Kelly. Hopefully the fact that she clearly adored it will help them out.

I can’t believe Sonjia and Nathan aren’t in the top 3! Their dress was the only one that looked like an actual red carpet gown.

        • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

I did wish there were some actual COLORS on the runway, though. That gold was the closest thing!

        • http://press-for-attention.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

Also, Kenley’s dress is serving up Mad Men real-ness. The more I look at it the more I adore it.

    • Call me Bee

Crap I thought Dimitry & Melissa would win. April’s dress turned out beautifully!

      • blondie65

Agree…April’s was my favorite overall…perfect dress for her and she looked great!

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

          April always gets robbed!

      • http://twitter.com/ms_smartiepants Beth Mellone

But why was it so bunchy at the front waist? It looked like she was wearing a belt under the dress? That was weird. Without that strange (and unflattering!) clump of fabric, April’s dress would have been my favorite.

    • Stubenville

Late to the party – I’ll have to watch the rerun.

    • granddelusion

      3 things:
      1. Pure Anya. Sans bra. Think like a hooch; dress like a hooch.
      2. The blandest show ever. Zero color.
      3. I guess just anyone can score tickets to the Emmys.

      • granddelusion

More that I’ve seen the beginning of the show, I think I was unfair in my assessment of Anya. Still can’t like her, though.

    • baxterbaby

      Team April wuz robbed! Robbedrobbedrobbedrobbed!

      • dharmabum8

Freakin AY! I couldn’t agree more! By far my favorite.

        • Lisa

          This is nuts!

    • funkypeanut

Um, is Kenley in the chorus of a really bad musical, perhaps so off-Broadway that it’s in Hoboken? That MIGHT explain the clothes.

    • lessax3

My top dressed are merely safe. (pout)

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Gunnar and Frokemon in the top?!?! SAY WHAT

      • emily mcginnis

        exactly. WHAT?

        • Lisa

          *Boggled!*

      • dharmabum8

And Frokemon wanted to eliminate himself.

    • http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/lastbutnotleast janinedm

I liked Mila during her season, but how can you tell if she’s unhappy? She’s like Pam from True Blood; her angrt face and her happy face are the same face.

      • Stubenville

        Eyelid twitches perhaps?

        • dschubba

          Just like Dr. Manhattan

      • DeTrop

        So true.

    • Stubenville

Nina is an idiot – short is not for the Emmys…

    • Victoria Reyes

Bullshit! Even the styling on Kenley is off! No to the beige shoes, should be bright yellow or pink. The top two were so hum drum….boo

    • Lisa

Just… wow.  Is this season sub-titled “Let’s Fuck Over Dimitry”?

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

        Looks like.

        • Lisa

I mean, last week and this week, they middle pack him twice?  It’s ridiculous!

          • Susan Crawford

Yep. Once again Snape is dissed and dismissed as “middle/safe” when he displayed talent and . . . oh, what’s the use. Bunim/Murray and Lifetime are giving him NO love. My only hope is that all this will lead to a come-from-behind sprint for the win. But knowing B/M and Lifetme, Snape needs a fabulous, revelatory back story to beconfessed at a critical moment. Let’s see: maybe he could reveal that he was once addicted to Lord Voldemort, that he was a Death Eater, and then was saved by Dobby the House Elf?

      • Joe J

He does seem to be shaping up to be this season’s Viktor, doesn’t he?

        • dharmabum8

          This.

        • blondie65

Oh no…no no no…that was so painful to watch once.  Not again.

    • StelledelMare

I thought it last week but I think it even more now: the crack smoking started very early this season. Kenley’s dress is daytime Emmys, maybe but not primetime.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Or a photocall, or a television event, or maybe even the Grammys. But not primetime Emmys, for sure.

        • Shoelover1512

Do they do a lunch for the Emmy’s or is that the Oscars cause for a luncheon it would be perfect.

    • Kimbolina

I like the Kenley dress but it just doesn’t seem red carpet enough.

      • Shoelover1512

I agree. I love love love the dress but not for any sort of formal black tie event.

    • Joe J

Man, I want to like Ven, but he is SO stuffy and blandly arrogant.

    • lessax3

Basically the length is ok because it’s not for a starlett.

Oh and here comes the I deserve the trip more.

    • Stubenville

Irena looks like she’s wearing a sack.

    • amian3

GUnnar and Frokemon? That hem is tragic.

    • emily mcginnis

if those two idiots win, they need to thank Irina for making them fix that dress. i still don’t think it deserves the win though.

    • Joe J

Frankly, Irina is doing all the heavy lifting, not the dress.

    • blondie65

Wow…Team April & Team Valerie were my top 2.  NEVER would I have picked Kenley or Irina’s dresses … I would have put Irina’s in the bottom.  The 90′s are calling…they want their dress back.  Sigh….

      • Logo Girl

I agree – April’s silver dress and Valerie’s gold dress were stunning. No others really caught my eye. I think the winner should have been Melissa or Dmitry, because they made a difficult fabric look easy, plus they nailed April’s style.

    • indigospade

You know, I’ll be the first to say that Anya did not deserve to win season 9 or even get past a few episodes…

But I don’t think she is a horrible person (or even mean or snooty. Some people need to stop acting like she shot their grandmothers.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I have no hatred whatsoever for Anya herself – it was the way the judges pushed her through and overpraised her to such an insane extent that drove me crazy.

      • Eclectic Mayhem

If by ‘some people’ you mean me *waves* I never said she was mean but I think she’s calculating and that’s not something I particularly respect.

        Let’s just agree to disagree.

    • GillianHolroyd

C’mon that white dress is  hardly earth-shattering design.

      • MilaXX

No what’s earth shattering is Irina “I love all black” wearing a white dress.

    • Stubenville

      “There’s a horse somewhere missing it’s tail.”

    • blondie65

Irina’s dress…puckering at the hip, too tight across the hips, stray threads. And THIS is in the top.  WTF?

      • 3boysful

Ahh, but the trailing fabric covered the puckered ass seam . . . .

      • DeTrop

How about her attitude?  Does she ever smile?  I’m sure she feels it’s due to her input that they were in the top!

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

If Anya’s team gets eliminated for poor execution, that will be hilarious.

      • Lisa

It was just delicious enough seeing them in the bottom!

      • mom2ajs5

I loved that there were no sleeves!

    • dharmabum8

      I feel like

      • MilaXX

        I am too.

      • granddelusion

        Was there an impressive design?

    • Stubenville

Prediction; Andrea survives and storms off tonight.

      • MilaXX

Sadly it keeps coming back to that.

      • blondie65

        You called it…

      • Call me Bee

        Exsaaaaaahtly.

        • DeTrop

          Is that you Casanova?

    • Judy_J

I got here late. I’m having a bottle of La Crema pino noir for dinner.

    • GillianHolroyd

“I hate pointing fingers” Bah! Go home!

    • Joe J

Christopher?  Get a grip – your bloomers are showing.

    • ASK26

Chris lite is so being screwed by her whatever the bell her name is

      • dharmabum8

Agree. She was a time suck and was blasé about it.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Boo-hoo, Christopher.  Be an adult.  Good grief.  So, B-M makes this episode all about Andrea and Christopher dissing each other.  Yuck.

    • Victoria Reyes

How is defending what you did and what the other person did, demeaning? That’s what they ask you!

      • DeTrop

I think he meant he was demeaned by the end product.  He absolutely did not like the dress.

    • lessax3

Christopher, you do love to point fingers, and if you can point out what she did wrong, she is within her rights to point out yours.

      • ASK26

But I think the problems were hers

        • lessax3

Well, if he did the bodice as she said, he had some major construction issues too.

          • Victoria Reyes

But he was up front that when they changed the design, he didn’t understand what they were doing, how to fix the problem.

      • Call me Bee

Yeah I live how they both didn’t want to point fingers…then they did.

        • BrooklynBomber

Yeah, but compared to some of the finger pointing and under-bus-throwing we’ve see before, this was just…light hair pulling and a little name calling.

    • dschubba

It was cute and everything, but that diet Katy Perry dress shouldn’t win. Not for an Emmy challenge.

      • Victoria Reyes

Yes, it’s very Katy Perry, Zooey D, and as someone else pointed out – Golden Globes, not emmy

        • dschubba

I can absolutely imagine Zooey doing her best scrunched up toddler face in that dress.

      • MilaXX

I think the judges have a premature crush on Ven. He’s impressed them early on and it’s gonna take a while for them to get bored with him.

        • dharmabum8

If I hear “it looks expensive” one more time…..

          • l_c_ann

The problem with the “looks expensive” was that so few of the designs look like they had $300 worth of fabric in them.

And to whine that they couldn’t find the right fabric in Mood.  Gimme a break.

            • Susan Crawford

That cracked me up! I’ve been to Mood, and believe me, what we see on PR is but a teeny frction of what is there. I would think that a savvy PR contestant would make a pre-show visit to Mood  if at all possible to get the lay of the land down so as to maximize the fabric-selection time allotment, unless this is against the rules.

Mood has a GINORMOUS selection of fabrics!

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Not only that, but don’t people WORK at Mood?  Most of my favorite fabric stores, I have one or two clerks at each that can point me to a specific area if I have something in mind.

            • Susan Crawford

Exactly! And the clerks at Mood are VERY knowledgeable about their stock and could help the contestants really make good choices. I would actually love to know the rules on this. (At the very least, couldn’t Swatch help sniff out the charmeuse section? And did you not DIE at Dimitri’s marvelous pronunciation of this word? I love Snape more every week!)

        • Victoria Reyes

And it had a similar pleating to his rose bud corset. I’m surprised they didn’t mention anything re: the shoes being so boring

    • http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/lastbutnotleast janinedm

It won’t be tonight, probably, but I can’t wait for Christopher to go home. It will be sweeter than a honey-covered sugar cube.

    • ASK26

I hope it is not squiggy or Chris lite

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

Worst dress in the bunch for the worst designer in all of PR!!

    • amian3

Is everyone else seeing this horrible Martin Scorcese ad for the iphone over and over again? It makes me want an android.

    • BethR52

The judges aren’t even paying attention this week. Did they mix up the safe and the top looks?

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

Ven, in the most un-enthused voice possible: I’m very excited, I’m very happy.

      • Citric

“I have heard excitement and happiness are emotions regularly felt by humans in this situation.”

    • MilaXX

yep everyone called it from the beginning. Andrea’s the runner.

      • BrooklynBomber

Not me. I thought it was Lantie. I thought Andrea was solid. But I’m often wrong, about all sorts of things.

        • janierainie

My first instinct was Andrea, then when the show got going, I didn’t think it would be her. She seemed so “together”. Oh well wrong again. To quote Andrea “ha ha ha!”

    • GillianHolroyd

      Damn.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Nicely done, Christopher…. you stuck a shiv in Andrea.

      • ASK26

She grabbed the Shiv. Mocked him and drove him crazy but when he deflects the blow…. He is the bad guy?

        • NDC_IPCentral

Well, I see your point, but he really seemed histrionic and seemed to me to really be putting all the blame on her for every problem.  I’m not convinced that his “I can’t be firm with an older woman” argument is valid.  Complain and moan rather than voice the concern forthrightly?  Well, it’s TV, after all, not a corporate maelstrom where real profits and losses are at stake…!

          • ASK26

it seems to me that he did not want to give her the blame as much until she started trying to deflect blame . Being on the defensive.. no one ever looks good. Really find an example of how, one you are forced to be on the defensive of how you can get out cleanly. Now that I wrote that… I mean it. How?

            • Susan Crawford

Yes, this pairing had disaster written all over it in a nanosecond. There was blame aplenty to go around. He was a little over the top with hysteria, and she didn’t really seem to understand how to work productively in a team situation. She didn’t seem t be at all understanding of the fact that HER work needed to fit in with HIS work, and the result was a half-finished looking mish-mash.

(But I still like her . . . and I think she has a LOT of talent. I wish her all the best.)

            • janierainie

I was disappointed that she came off looking like a ditzy old lady (speaking as a ditzy old lady). For someone who is an instructor in fashion she didn’t seem to have what it took to get it done.

            • Kimbolina

Well, you know what they say…  Those who cannot do, teach.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

You’re never forced to be on the defensive.  Refute the points without being defensive and you always come out ahead.  He who yells first loses.  Always.

          • Kimbolina

Well… she was the one who took an entire day to cut a skirt or whatever it was and just seemed so amused when she messed it up so I can understand his frustration.

          • NDC_IPCentral

ASK, Kimbolina, I do see your points.  I wish it could be clear (not he-says/she-says) about the time it took to make the skirt.  Of course, if it was that complicated, that was a poor design/construction choice for a day-only challenge.  Should they have switched responsibilities?  Hand the skirt off to C and give the bodice, whatever C was doing, to A?  Beats me.

If one is put on the defensive, well, speak the truth and be mature about the situation.  This certainly is an instance when neither person came off well.

            • Spicytomato1

Granted the judges put them on the spot and basically force them to point fingers but they both did come off badly. And what was up with Chris cupping his hands around his mouth and trying to “secretly” get a final diss in to the judges? It was as bad if he’d pointed to Andrea behind her back and then done the “crazy” gesture with his finger. I was on his side until he pulled out that move.

          • Susan Crawford

Christopher might have to sharpen up his communication and managerial skills with “older women” if he plans on going anywhere in the fashion industry. Newsflash, Cris-baby: many of the REAL power brokers, clients and buyers of note in the industry are – gasp! – women Andrea’s age. So grow up, grow a pair and just maybe some of these women can teach you a few things. And most of them actually ADMIRE a person with a little ablity to state firmly, clearly and without dramarama antics a personal POV.
Just a little something to chew on, Chris.

        • DeTrop

No he isn’t.  She drove him around the bend.  Many of us have worked in groups and have been held hostage by a co-worker who was unsure and not up to the task.  Those of us who see the job at hand and do the work on a timely basis can get crazy under these circumstances.  Her laughter, nervous or not, was also unbearable.  The funny thing is they made Anya an Anya dress sans the print.  Oy!

    • Victoria Reyes

Glad they didn’t wait until next week to let us know Andrea left

      • EveEve

And Frokemon is the one urged out for mental health reasons.

        • Victoria Reyes

Are we sure it’s him? I thought it would be freegan guy.

          • Kimbolina

I feel like it could also be Christopher.  Maybe he gets really freaked about causing Andrea to run.

        • MilaXX

I could see Christopher have the mental issues

        • Alina Badus

Noooo… The show will be so dull without him.

        • http://masquedbunny.tumblr.com masquedbunny

I don’t want it to be him. He’s adorable and weird and the most fun contestant on the show.

    • dschubba

      Good work, PR psychics!

    • Kimbolina

Wow, so midnight runner and psych ward all happen in the same episode?!

    • BethR52

I’m so tired of Heidi goading the designers to throw each other under the bus. Yuck!

      • BrooklynBomber

I really liked when Raul said, “We’re not doing that.”

        • BethR52

So did I.  But of course Heidi had to keep pushing, and his partner folded.  In response to various comments tonight, it seems to me that having character, like Raul showed, is no way to succeed on PR.

          • Spicytomato1

I felt for both of them, Alicia looked like hell by the time they were done with the critique. Brutal how Heidi wouldn’t let up until they turned on each other. It was like how I imagine a forced confession by police emerges.

    • ASK26

So…. Andrea. Chris Was telling the truth right? Whose voice was that frokemon?

      • Spicytomato1

Who knows what the real truth is regarding the garment but I think what pushed Chris over the edge was how she seemed to be so casual about the possibility of auf’ing, like losing wouldn’t affect her whatsover, while winning means everything to him.

    • indigospade

Can we just push Chris, Elena, and Gunner into a bottomless pit already?

      • berkeleygirl

Second that! On the runway, I wanted to slap that self-satisfied smirk right off Gunnar’s face.  As for Elena, give me a break. Buffi may have a certain wacky aesthetic, but she does come off as an adult who refuses to take things to seriously.  Perspective, people!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TD3V5M36HNO6PDJVQRAM5JLO6I Mary Ann

So, are they going to bring back an auf’d designer to replace Andrea.

      • Victoria Reyes

Good question. And if the one that has a mental breakdown the same day/challenge, are they not going to eliminate people in two challenges? No double eliminations this season?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

WTF??? Gunnar in the Top 3? With a let’s-cover-up-the-frown-face-butt-seam mess of a dress? They’ve got it in for that little slime.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

I was thinking more that they want to build him up as much as possible before dramatically deflating him later. So he falls to depths of douchiness.
The butt seam reminded me of those old-fashioned onesie pajamas with the button on the back. I really wanted to hear Michael Kors call it a “disco butt flap.”

    • Kimbolina

I just had a terrible thought.  They usually bring back an eliminated designer when someone leaves.  If both Andrea AND whoever with the psychological problems both leave during the same episode… does that mean they’re going to bring back Raul AND Lantie?!  Oh god.

    • Alina Badus

For those of us without TVs, who got eliminated tonight?

      • ASK26

        Raul…aka squiggy

    • BethR52

      I guess now it’s a Project Runway/Survivor mash-up.

    • ASK26

again following. Tim’s advice cost. Calling the print and design “pool party”…… While anya won with pool party

    • Maria Rosenfire

Irina and Gunnar richly deserved each other. Poor Kooan.

      • SewingSiren

Actually those two were really lucky to have a client  that told them exactly what to do.

    • SewingSiren

I thought that The gold, Valerie and the silver – April would be in the top, with the silver – Dmitry winning. I thought the white- Irina and the red Mila would be in the bottom with one of the red going home, well at least I was right about that.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

I thought the same thing. I was not sure if the silver dress was (more) interesting because it was on April (with cool hair) or if it was great on its own.

        • janierainie

April’s dress looked beautifully made. She was styled really well. I don’t get it.

          • Excellence_and_Elegance

April’s dress looked like a silk snuggie.

        • holdmewhileimnaked

even if it was more interesting cos of april’s hair it only means that april’s hair was taken into consideration when the dress was designed. i cant watch this before it shows up online [& i'd really love to miss ever seeing anya again] but i gather kenley’s won? cos that dress is the antithesis of april’s. april’s took april into account; kenley’s team decided to design kenley a whole new personality in the form of a dress. not that i dont find kenley to be an irritant; still, that’s not what you do when you create an outfit for someone.

    • blondie65

While I agree the winning dress was very well executed and very much in the style of the client (really, we had to see Kenley again?), it was not an Emmy/red carpet dress, imo.  Maybe the still photos will tell a different story, but from the runway, either Team April (such a perfect gown for her & she looked so great in it!) or Team Valerie’s gown is much more red carpet Emmy and both designs were equally in tune with their client.  I wonder though…since neither April or Valerie are “character” clients, did that work Ven/Fabio’s favor?  Designing a dress that screamed Kenley, the judges would predictably respond to it.

    • SewingSiren

I did like the dress that Ven made for Kenley and she did an excellent job selling the dress.

      • berkeleygirl

Not only that, but I loved the styling… It stayed true to Kenley but softer.  Without her red lips, she was almost unrecognizable – in a good way.

    • dress_up_doll

This episode was kind of a downer. So much angst. I loved Ven’s design, but I just don’t feel that it was  very Emmy worthy. It was nice seeing Laura though. SHe looked as though she had a lot of fun and really WERQ’d it on the runway.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

are andrea & kooan really both leaving? really? i cant watch this ’til tomorrow anyway–i dont have a television not to mention that i’m on the west coast so it isnt even on here yet–but i promise i’m not gonna watch any more this season if those two both go.

      • MoHub

I think Kooan is probably just whining, but Andrea actually left.

    • BrooklynBomber

This show doesn’t need to be an hour and a half. There’s way too much filler now.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

        Poorly filtered filler, no less.

    • Victoria Reyes

Times like this, I really miss Tim’s Take…:(  Anyone have any idea why he doesn’t do it anymore? I sort of stopped watching PR after season 5 but then picked up last season (ugh, hate that Anya won)

      • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

Tim told too much truth and also complained about how the producers were treating him shabbily. They made him pull at least one Facebook videoblog and then there weren’t any more. The next season, he’s suddenly a producer but no more truth-telling from Tim.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

His videos are back on his facebook page, but he’s not making new ones- I think he’s on a short leash.

        • Victoria Reyes

           Thanks!

        • Lisa

Ohhhh, interesting!  I didn’t know that!

    • GenieinTX

I have no problem with a tea length dress being worn to the Emmy’s.  I love tea length and retro.  Worn by someone Kenley’s age… probably shouldn’t happen.  And it so should not have won.  And Yes, they completely mixed up the safe and top.

Andrea did say 5 min ago she would be relived to go home.  I guess when you get out there you go into defensive mode and won’t admit to it.  Shame though.  You let someone else go home when you know you want it to be you.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

I thought the same thing about Andrea. I thought it was unfair when she made that statement in the back (since it was a group challenge and he would be at risk too). I can see making that decision for yourself (as you see things going down), but there was an obligation to your partner to try.  I guess that getting called out on the runway just makes you want to fight back. Did you see she was still cutting as they were going to the runway? crazy!

    • ASK26

Tonight would be another example of how following Tim’s advice hurt . It cost Raul his spot.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

Did anyone think that the winning dress could have been long? I can’t decide  if it was too “day” looking. It was pretty, nice color.

      • http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/lastbutnotleast janinedm

The long version would have been a Meryl Streep dress.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

Yeah, it would have looked good on her long

    • Wellworn

Oh TLo, I am traumatized by the episode and the previews of next week.  Where are you to hold my hand through a sleepless night until I read your review tomorrow.  I don’t know what to think, so please think for me.  Maybe I need to leave the PR viewership for mental health reasons.

    • SouthernGirlRena

Dinner is fresh from the garden green beans, squash, salad, and figs for dessert. As for Emmy gowns, underwhelmed by all of then. This was not one of the most exciting episodes I’ve ever seen. I think I liked Irena’s gown best but I just can’t stand Gunner so I was rooting for Kenley’s team. I think it says a lot that I can’t remember any of the current designers names.

    • Pupioso

Vendroids was not my favorite. None of these were specatacular and all of them were pretty much bad. I am going to committ Hari kari between Christopher and Gunnar. Both of them I’ve had enough of but this is the Bunim Murray drama we are stuck with.

    • http://profiles.google.com/bratling2 Laura Davies

      Squiggy we hardly knew ye….

    • ccm800

      can of ravioli. Seriously LOL

    • annaplurabelle

Dmitri was robbed again.  April never looked better.

      • holdmewhileimnaked

        agreed.

so far he really is the best overall designer.
[.....not that that means much of anything in the PR universe.]

        edited to add:
in an oddly vengeful mood i must say i am rather thrilled that anya looked so bloody dreadful [ie: at least in the stills her thighs look the same size as her waist. i just wish they'd given her the sleeves of symbolism]. otoh, some of the rest of them did not deserve to look anywhere near as ghastly but they did, they did.

        • janierainie

” the sleeves of symbolism”  Or sleeves of shame. Dimitri had sleeves! Maybe that’s where he went wrong. If this crap happens again next week (where they ignore obvious winner quality dresses and put that dingbat Gunnar in the top) I swear I’m going to quit watching.

      • MoHub

So was Sonjia. That gown was gorge, and Valerie loved it and rocked it on the runway. It was also probably the best executed piece last night. No way Sonjia/Nathan’s effort should have been in the middle.

        • Susan Crawford

Yep. Agreed. Sonjia and Dimitri are doing really interesting work. Let’s hope they stick around for a while – peferably long enough to kick some Clinique Deux butt.

    • Judy_S

Chiming in very late here… because Thursday evening I enjoyed a dinner of escargots, soup (didn’t eat the pasta bits), salad, duck confit with braised cabbage and potato puree (didn’t finish the potatoes), and a nice decaf. So i didn’t get to watching the show until Friday.
I was really disappointed in this challenge. Some drama was obviously going to be generated by the teams, esp. Buffi and Natasha or whatever her name is, while with others where one expected it (Fabio and Ven, Gunnar and anybody) there was no more than usual. I expected better of Andrea (esp. since, I presume as Bert’s legacy, Christopher was so determined to respect her); I understood her little hum of “let’s be adaptable to this disaster” but she really did not adapt at all.  I expected better clothes, and better judging.

    • LinXGUA

Kors is wearing white pants. Baby steps … i mean,  Praise The Lord!!!
