Serena Williams in Victoria Beckham

Posted on August 23, 2012

Miss Serena is here to start off your day right.

Serena Williams makes her way into ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ in New York City in a Victoria Beckham dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.

Christian Louboutin ‘Decora’ Pump, $3, 895

Bam. Who needs coffee?

Serena’s always been a bit iffy on the style front, but she’s been improving radically lately. Who know that Victoria Beckham would be her sartorial savior? This looks so ridiculously good on her that we urge her to go out and procure Miss Vicki’s whole line immediately. The clean lines, bold colors, and body-con silhouettes are exactly what she should be wearing every time she steps out.

And the hair is giving us life.

We know we went off on platform pumps yesterday as tools of Satan, but really, it’s the solid-color ones that set us off. These are pretty fabulous and the design prevents her from looking like she has hooves. Besides, from a proportions perspective, they really work for her. Put these same shoes on some stick thin starlet and she’d look ridiculous, but put them on the powerful Miss Serena and they look kickass (literally; girl could KICK your ASS with those things).

DAY-UM. keep it up girl. you are making a fashion comeback. Snaps!

      • Jill_3

Head to toe- GASP. Her hair is SUBLIME. Her dress is killa. Her shoes make me go weak at the knees with lust.

    • http://twitter.com/Mlle_D Donyelle

      BAM!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Two problems for me.  I’m good with it till she turns around, and we see the heinous exposed zipper thing going on. (sigh)
And those SHOES are horrifying. That said.  That is one seriously hot woman who looks her absolute best in body conscious stuff.

      • call_me_schmeg

if you don’t like the exposed zipper, then you won’t like vickie’s line. it’s kinda her thing.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

That’s okay, I won’t be wearing any of her stuff anyhow. (winking) Actually, I like a fair amount of her clothes.

        • l_c_ann

If she’s going commando, that exposed zipper is going to be a pain in the butt to sit on.

          • AudreysMom

             :) and cold, too!

          • TieDye64

            literally, ha!

        • Candigirl1968

That silly zipper is everybody’s thing right now.  I will be so happy when it goes away.

Also, Serena needs to tone down her weaves.

          • e jerry powell

That’s that good Malaysian hair, I bet. The stuff Vivica likes so much.

      • http://pleasewelcomeyourjudges.com/ Brian @ PWYJudges

I totally agree with you on the exposed zipper! Not a trend I think I will ever get behind. But I do LOVE those shoes!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Then we must agree to disagree on this one. Though I like the fact that they are patterned, since the dress is so dead simple, The shape of them distorts appearance of the foot, which I nearly always dislike.

          • Funkykatt

I don’t care for the zipper too. Hopefully that and plastic shoes will go away soon.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

“plastic shoes” ARGHHH!!! (bile rises in throat)

          • luciaphile

TY, I was trying to figure out why I wasn’t feeling the shoes and this is it exactly. Love the dress on her though.

        • MoHub

To me, exposed zippers just look as if the seamster didn’t have the time or ability to make a proper zipper placket. The only place I want to see a zipper like that is on the front of a bomber jacket or a parka, not on a dress.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I like the shoes, but the zipper must die. I still give it two thumbs up.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

In this particular case where it really loses me is the under booty part of it where its buckling. I realize that is due to her walking, but it really calls attention to itself, which it should not.

          • Kayceed

I’m with you – lose the platform, lose the exposed zipper and – loosen up slightly the area just under that glorious posterior of hers so as to highlight rather than actually expose the lines of it – and she would be one elegant piece of work.

          • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I’m noticing she has an odd tan line above her ankle on at least one leg.  I’m not going to be too critical, since her day job is athlete and not model, but it’s a little distracting.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

               Good Eye!!

            • kimmeister

I noticed it too, and at first I thought it was a sock tan line.  But then I remembered that she likely wears those little anklet socks, so what the heck?

            • Pat Strong

she’s an athlete first and usually has her ankles taped when playing in a tournament and perhaps everyday at practice.  for this reason those shoes, while attractive, are painful for me to look at knowing what a pounding her feet take playing tennis at such a high level

            • Renee-amanda Heywood

Yeah, but those shoes are so bloody hot, they’re like a reward for having to wear trainers all day.

          • bellafigura1

Politely disagree! That line calling attention to itself right there is precisely the point. Especially under that tennislicious booty.

      • Tatiana Luján

absolutely agree. That exposed zipper made me think about Project Runway and I don’t think that’s a good sign.

      • Vanja

I’m not keen on the shoes either and the zipper ruins the clean lines of that otherwise very nice dress.

      • ballerinawithagun

As usual, you beat me to it! I hate exposed zippers. A well placed strip of black bias fabric would be more comfortable and wouldn’t have the unsightly bumps and rolls detracting from her fabulous backside. Love the embellishment on the shoes but hate the shape. But, she is still hot, hot, hot!

      • Little_Olive

I know I will sound like a total sartorial prude, but yes, could those platforms please go away? Actually I don’t care of they are still around, can someone be honest and just admit they are hooker shoes?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You sound no more like a sartorial prude than anyone else who has disliked platforms any of the other times they have reared their heads.  There were naysayers in the 70s and in the 40s as well.  And who knows but that there were people who disliked them during the Rennaisance and Tudor periods, when they had a long run.  Although during that time they really were pretty much the province of prostitutes.

          • Little_Olive

            Thanks for the validation!
My mom and aunts had really cool platforms in the 70’s; kinda fug, yes, but made with humor. These take themselves too serioulsy, in a way. To sum up, (as I’ve said here before), I bet no one sees a woman “in real life” wearing something of the sort and thinks “there is a classy lady”.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Well as they said in Latin class, “degustibus non disputandem est”

      • formerlyAnon

I am sick of the exposed zipper, especially as it has lost any ‘edge’ it once had. But given the pantheon of Serena looks, I won’t quibble.  I also generally dislike the platform hoof look, but I have to admit that if it’s ever going to work, it works here (for me) because she’s a big, powerful woman and it’s [almost] proportional.

      • sockandaphone

i do hate exposed zippers, specially since my mom is a seamstress and she screams bloody murder at any zipper that is not 100% covered. So she passed that onto me I guess. Invisible zippers or bust!

        • kimmeister

My first attempt at reading your last sentence had been imagining how her bust could be invisible.  Now I’m laughing at myself.

          • sockandaphone

hey, as long as it makes you laugh, im okay!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_7FBV2HAXQRWSVNCXURA36YVBYE Thanatoid

Yo…you haven’t a clue here, pal.  The shoes are rockin’ and the red matches the red in the dress perfectly.  The zipper is striking detail…love it.  I’m sure you’d look pretty gag-worthy wearing this ensemble as it’s way too feminine for cross-dressing.. but if I had the money and the more athletic physique like hers…I’d do it.

    • Richard Harper

She looks amazing.  Truly amazing.  And I hate that trendy exposed zipper thing, but I’m willing to overlook it for this.  Dayum.

    • Alyson Epstein

how is this not  a WERQ?!

      • Squarah

My thoughts exactly! She looks fantastic.

      • Introspective

WERQ was the first word I shouted when I beheld all of Serena’s fierceness this morning!

        Snaps was the second!

        That is all.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Why does it have to be? Why are half the responses asking this question? WERQ is not some sort of prestigious award or something; it’s just a way to provide some variety to the posts.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UCLO5V2YD36T7QMPKOC7YXPOFU Erica

I don’t know guys.  I thought I heard somewhere that there were going to be yearly WERQ statues awarded, with the requisite pre-awards ceremony WERQ red carpet.  Man, if a celebrity was to win a WERQ from what he/she wore on the WERQ red carpet, how pretigious would THAT award be?

        • sabinewaugh

I hope you gents see our WERQ-a-philia as a compliment to you: your judgments are so spot-on that a WERQ *does* begin to seem like a special asterisk for a fantastic look!

    • gabbilevy

… I still need my coffee though.

    • http://twitter.com/sebwfu Shannon Beamer

This freaking made my day.  Thank you, gentlemen.  She looks unbelievable and I need that dress.

      • Renee-amanda Heywood

Me too… and I’d need to borrow her body as well!

    • Sobaika

      FABULOUS! Major hair envy.

Vicki B. is becoming quite the designer. Bold, tasteful, and functional clothing.

      • Sartorial_She

I couldn’t agree more! Oh to be able to afford one of her designs.

    • call_me_schmeg

those shoes look like a sombrero for the feet. this is a compliment. ole!

    • Terri Smith

I can’t stand Serena Williams, but I have to admit she looks fabulous.

    • Kim Khanh Nguyen

First thoughts in my head on seeing this pic. “DAAAAMMMMMN, SERENA!!” She looks amazing!

    • jmorino08

She is rocking that dress, but I disagree on the shoes. Looks like she’s wearing wooden Dutch clogs with a stiletto attached.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Holy shit. That woman’s ass is SMOKIN’ hot. *fans face* She looks fantastic.

The hair. So jealous of the hair. I don’t care if it’s a weave or not, it’s awesome.

    • Verascity

This is a WERQ for me. She’s literally never looked better.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

She absolutely DOES look kick-ass, but again I must quibble with the exposed zipper, and one which goes from neck to hem, no less.  Does that thing really unzip all the way?  I think the black contrast on the reverse of the dress is very eye-catching, but I HATE seeing the zipper teeth in there, too.  And she needs to stand up straighter.

    • Patricia Gillett

OK, I’m still anti-platform pump but if there was one person on the planet who could pull them off, it’s Miss Serena.  Her bod makes me want to spend the next five days at the gym!

      • AudreysMom

Serena could kick our collective asses, regardless of the shoes she wears.

        • formerlyAnon

With both hands tied behind her back.

    • EveEve

You know why this works?  Because Serena has proven herself.  She’s not some barely-born starlet whose handlers have pushed her out onto the red carpet and coached her how to pose for the cameras.  She’s a world champion athlete with massive self-confidence and a body to match, and she’s not hiding anything behind big bows, stretch lace or putty platforms.  [And look!  No clutch being shoved front and center!]

    • holdmewhileimnaked

she doesnt get a WERQ from you guys? has she ever looked better? has virtually anybody? only thing wrong is the stoopid PR visible zipper. but thats not her fault. & the shoes are almost worth their damnable price.

    • Funkykatt

She’s so shapely, she almost looks cartoonish, but in a good way.

    • teensmom99

Amazing.  And I’m kind of shocked that Posh’s clothes work on someone with an actual body.  I thought you had to have her negative-body fat kind of body for her clothes to work but this is a triumph. And as soon as I saw this, I thought “here are the platforms that work.”  Thanks, TLo for explaining why it all works.

      • Lucy145

I felt that same surprise that the VB line would accommodate a womanly body. But it does and I love the way it looks on Miss Serena.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/FEP56YB4DUIXBWSLIMSSSGQHWY jimmack

The shoes are crazy cool. Butt zippers are back! I guess all those designers in season 9 – or was it 8 – (they all blend together since the swich to Lifetime) were right! Readers, does that exposed zipper leave unslighty impressions on your back and butt?

But, girl, as mama would say, “shoulders back, stand up straight!”

    • SapphoPoet

I think this is the best I’ve ever seen her look. I thought the exact same thing about the platform pumps. I’m not a fan, generally, but the pattern really helps avoid the hoof-look. I’m not so sold on that ginormous black zipper running up the back of the dress, but if anyone can carry that off, it’s Serena Williams.

    • muzan-e

That hair. I want to print this out and show it to every girl I’ve known who struggled to get comfortable with her wild, wonderful curls and a culture that would prefer that she straighten them now, please.

      Love it.

    • minnye

      Fabulosity, personified.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

WOW. On anyone else I’d have quibbled with it being so tight on the bottom, but DAMN, she makes it work. Makes it WERQ, even.

    • PhillipWilde

      YES MA’AM!

    • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

TLo needs to get out of my head. I was just thinking yesterday that my real problem with platform pumps is the solid color ones. Ones with a pattern or some bling on them look more like works of art than hooves.

    • EditKitten

Man, she is just utterly gorgeous.

(The Times’ Sunday magazine story coming up this weekend is awesome; the part about Serena living in Paris … sigh: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/magazine/venus-and-serena-against-the-world.html?_r=1&smid=fb-share)

    • MissMariRose

I think this is a WERQ. Everything from head to toe is beautiful and absolutely perfect for her figure.

    • Judy_J

I’m not a fan of the platform pump, but damn if those shoes aren’t beyond fabulous!  I’m not a fan of the exposed zipper, but it works on this dress, probably because Ms Williams has such a, shall we say, righteous booty.  Good job all around.

      • Sara LaBatt

I feel the same about the zipper.  I generally don’t like it, but I think it actually works to break up Serena’s righteous booty, as you say.  She looks amazing.

    • Judy_S

Wonderful. I would say werq. The shoes (and I hate ALL platform pumps) are perfect with the dress.

    • alyce1213

She’s a force of nature – never looked better.  The shoes are perfect in this context.

I love to see that Victoria Beckham dresses suit different body types. I’ve been far more impressed with her designs than I ever thought I’d be. I want one.

      • formerlyAnon

Not to diss VB (much) she began by borrowing from some of the masters, so if she came to understand what was right about their work, I am not surprised her clothing is surpassing my (rock bottom) expectations. I am coming to be most impressed by her smarts.

    • sweetlilvoice

Damn. She looks great. Her body is amazing and her hair is wonderful. BAM! Drag Queen Style.

    • BazoDee

Perfection!! I was a bit nervous when I saw the headline -Serena -Victoria -but YES!!! This works fabulously!! And those shoes fall in the category of “only Serena” could pull them off!!

    • afabulous50

      Where’s the WERQ?!

    • VioletFem

She looks AMAZING! Love the hair, especially. Why isn’t this a WERQ post?

    • Tamara Hogan

      AWESOME.

    • petalfrog

So why isn’t this a WERQ? Because… damn she looks DIVINE

    • Scarlet39

      She really looks pretty amazing!

    • belfebe

She looks fierce as shit.  The best she’s looked in probably … ever.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Austen-Jane/100002245814326 Austen Jane

I am wondering if it isn’t just a skosh tight on her? It seems to pull across her hips just a tad. Still agree that this is the best I have seen her look pretty much ever. The hair is FAB.

      • formerlyAnon

The tightness is a wash for me because I can’t remember seeing Ms. Williams in anything that wasn’t, intentionally or not, pulling across some portion of her extremely un-typical anatomy.  It may have started because women’s clothes usually don’t come in her proportions but I think it’s just part of who she is and how she dresses, now.

    • Susan Crawford

La Serena looking totally fierce – from head to toe.

Yes, she could kick some ass in those shoes, but let’s face it, she could kick some ass in her bare feet. With both hands tied behind her back. In her sleep. Because THIS is a strong woman – and I mean that in every sense of the word. What an icon. And here’s to a long and fashionable association with Posh Becks.

    • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

Jaw officially dropped. She looks SO AMAZING.

But maybe it could use a showy necklace? Something with a gold medallion? Too much?

      • Snailstsichr

Didn’t she do some “shopping” for two big showy gold pieces recently??

I join my BKs in bowing down. Snaps for Serena and Victoria.

      • jennifromcali

That ring on her left hand is pretty showy..anything more would have been too much bling. I actually watched the show and I can’t remember what Letterman said about the ring, but she responded, “A girl needs her diamonds.” There was a some banter from Letterman about what was raised as she came out in that smoking hot dress. :) Looking good, Girl, and definitely should receive the prestgious and highly coveted Tlo WERQ award.

        • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

Indeed it is showy and awesome, but, er… I was talking about her Olympic Gold Medal.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

This totally should have been a “WERQ”!! She looks fabulous, head to toe!

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

WERQ!!!  Wow, I hope she enjoys that body while she’s young.  Because as my mother says, “Once you’re old, you’re old.”

    • https://twitter.com/#!/rmccarthyjames RMJ12345

It’s funny that folks used to say that Vicky B made dresses only for toothpicks like herself. This is a WERQ.

    • Rand Ortega

You could bounce a quarter off that booty. She looks smashing!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3KCDEX4FOTCFHZP6WLKSOOKUVM Danielle

Bam!  I can’t remember her ever looking this good.

    • frannyprof

Victoria knows what she’s doing. Her clothes look amazing on everyone. Love this look.

    • l_c_ann

I think she would have looked just as good, if the dress were a size larger.

      • formerlyAnon

Yes, but not at all like Serena.

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

NICE! VB is a killer designer. Modern, sexy and classy!

    • DesertRodent

When I look at her, the first thing I see is her wonderful, carefully honed athlete’s body. It is a thing of beauty to behold, and she’s embellished it with the perfect clothing and accessories that say to all the skinny, underfed, underactive female runway models, “Ladies, THIS is what you can do with a human body!”

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

She looks amazing, beautiful, and powerful. Love this! Also, I love the shoes.

    • TomBord

She’s very pretty but I’ve grown just so weary of the ‘Beckman Sausage Casing’ as fashion.

    • SewingSiren

PERFECT!  Serena ought to wear Roland Mouret more often.

    • Lisa

Hot damn, kittens and fawns! There’s nothing to not love here! Flawless!

    • Eva_baby

Her ass totally makes that zipper!  Now this is a complete and total WERQ.

    • formerlyAnon

I’d say this is a WERQ. And possibly a WERQ++ because it is HARD to dress an athletic body (given that pretty much nobody designs for one) & the Williams sisters take athletic body to to the nth power.

Didn’t think I’d see such huge platform stilettos working so well, but they do.

Seeing her like this makes me a bit less tolerant of the stumbles her stick-like celebrity sisters make.

      • MilaXX

Yes but not only does Venus have a naturally thinner body type, she also struggles with a serious illness.. In fact with the health issues both of the Williams sister have faced the past few years, I am extremely impressed that they were able to do so well at the Olympics.

    • TheOriginalLulu

Wow, she looks amazing. I adore the Chaka Khan hair and those shoes are KILLER. Love the dress on her. The only nit-pick I have is that I’m not crazy about the humungous exposed zipper on the back, but other than that I think Miss Serena is shutting it the hell down.

    • MilaXX

When she walked out last night Dave was practically drooling. She really looked great, even the makeup was on point.

      • formerlyAnon

I think it’s hilarious when guys who are not built like, say, pro basketball or football players drool over her, because I think that if things got, um, physical, most of ‘em would register somewhere between disconcerted and terrified when they realized she could bench press ‘em. Probably one-armed.

    • mcarlson

Now THAT is how you do it.

    • SummerSquash

Should totally be a WERQ! Best I’ve seen her look.

    • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

She looks amazing, love her hair — will this be her tennis outfit for the US Open?

      And TLo, ‘who knew’.

    • Ruth Preston

I always love it when fierce fashion is set against the backdrop of the Iconic Letterman Dumpsters. That said, yeah, this is all dead perfect on her. Go buy some more Vicki, girl.

    • ccm800

      Ace. Loves it.

    • dschubba

To quote the Continental, “Wow! Wowee-wow-wow!”

    • sockandaphone

amazing. serious body envy vibes right now and i love the color!

    • marilyn

She is gorgeous.  The zipper on the back wrecks the look.  That takes the dress from couture to amateur night.  However, ignore that and it is an over the top win for Serena.

    • Scott Isaacs

T.P., baby. The total package. This is flawless.

Why didn’t this merit a WERQ?

    • CassandraMortmain

I literally did not recognize her.  Best she’s ever looked.  The dress, the hair, the makeup – beyond fabulous.  Even the platform stilettos, which I always hate, at least look like a piece of art here and complement the dress.

I know that VB rips off other designers, notably Roland Mouret, but damned if her stuff isn’t pretty fab.

    • Tafadhali

That is the best I have ever seen her look. Damn, girl.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Ms. Williams is in the house, and she’s WERQ’ing this look!

    • kschwarting

I think she looks amazing and love that she’s celebrating her curves.  However, it looks just a wee bit tight across the midsection.  There, I’ve said it, and will now go hide under my desk because I’m clearly in the minority for nitpicking.

    • julnyes

She looks fantastic (as I always knew she could but despaired of ever seeing). I hate exposed zippers as much as the next Bitter Kitten, but she looks so good I am giving it a pass this time. The shoes are killa!

    • tallgirl1204

She is so amazingly FIT and STRONG.  What an inspiration to this desk-bound weakling.  And, kschwarting, I agree that the dress is a teensy bit tight, but I’ve been wearing my clothes a size too large ever since “body-conscious” became a style direction, so maybe I’m just out of touch.

    • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

I’m beyond words, she looks AMAZING. I don’t recall seeing her this put together EVER. Consider yourself copiously finger snapped.

    • kimmeister

Looks like somebody has been getting diva tips from Kelly Rowland!

    • http://twitter.com/Glam_Dixie Glam Dixie

Looks like she needs to go up one size to me, but she looks great if you ignore the pulling around the hips/butt area.

    • http://www.facebook.com/izzzyy Dixie Murphy Ross

Really don’t like the zipper in the back. At all.

      • PinkLemon

         agreed. hate hate hate hate.

    • http://www.facebook.com/heathermcouch Heather Couch

      HOT DAMN. Snaps up!

I AM OVERWHLEMED BY HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS IS

    • SpcilK

      Brava Ms. Williams!

    • another_laura

This woman is just stupendous and this look, from incredible hair to kick-ass shoes, is amazing for her.

    • http://www.lindamerrill.com Linda Merrill

Totally agree on the shoes. I usually hate them all, but she’s has such a powerful presence that they are balanced out.

    • Imasewsure

First time I have ever seen her looking good (actually great!) in anything outside of tennis wear… love the dress, love the shoes and at least on her slamming body, I like the zipper… maybe wouldn’t look so good on a scrawny type but I like it hear (and I hate exposed zippers)

    • Larkin21

WOW! Love everything going on here with the possible exception of the zipper in the back. Still, though, she looks great! Couldn’t agree more on the shoes.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

Serving it UP. She looks SO GOOD.

    • kikisayshi

I know it’s so hard for her to find things that flatter her athletic body. She sure hit the nail on the head here. This should have been a WERQ, no?

    • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

      WHY ISN’T THIS A WERQ?

    • http://twitter.com/irmaladuce_l8ly IrmaLaDuce

also, since you guys are toO polite to say it — THAT ASS GODDAMN!!

    • kikisayshi

And seriously, even if I went to the gym every day for the rest of my life, I would never have an ass and legs like that.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BMEASIKJSVE6YP3DE2VLJA5CUU JulieJ

That is the best I have ever seen her look!  She definately needs to stock up on Designs by Vicki.

    • juanitadeloach

this should be a WERQ! She looks amazing.  Very reminiscent of Kelly Rowland with the hair.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aboutelle Ashleigh Boutelle

      3 SNAPS UP

    • http://twitter.com/karenrubyleo Karen

she looks great here, i’ve often thought she looked a bit masculine in a dress but she is working the hell out of this.

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Those shoes are amazing.  I might sell an organ for those.

    • GTrain

      She looks great, possibly WERQ-worthy!

    • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

I’d love to know how her hair is done like that it’s awesome.

    • Jessica Goldstein

I’m more afraid of her getting a stress fracture in her foot from those shoes than kicking my ass in them. Those are some crazy, foot-destroying pumps that I cannot sign off on. Her hair and body in that dress? I envy both of those. Fabulous!

    • LauraWL

She is SHUTTING IT DOWN. Best I’ve ever seen her look. The clean lines and sporty look very much suit her athletic body.

    • e jerry powell

I’d love to see Serena’s hair closet, though.  That room is probably massive by now.

    • http://needtherapy.tumblr.com/ skadi1

I need to know. Was this dress modified to fit her booty or is it stretchy? Or does Victoria Beckham design clothes that fit curvy women? Because I would be willing to invest if that was the case.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kyle-Henry/12461714 Kyle Henry

I’ve been eating up that hair all summer.

    • patticake1601

She looks amazing!  I like the shoes…What they cost would pay my rent for 3 months!  damn!

    • formerlyAnon

I’ll have to edit for clarity – I wasn’t dissing her actual sister, but her sister celebrities who are more in the actress/singer/model mode.

And I also am impressed with what both sisters have done in the last few years (like I wasn’t before that?) because while they both have talent and a huge capacity for work, sometimes sheer determination doesn’t convince the recalcitrant human body.

    • Amy Ellinger

May be the best she’s ever looked. This is almost Pam Grier level of badassery.

    • http://twitter.com/RageOnThePage Rage on the Page

I think this deserved a WERQ for sure!

    • Kate4queen

I do like the fact that VB’s clothes can actually be worn by someone who isn’t a size 2 and this color is beautiful on Ms. Serena.

    • Melissa Brogan

I hate exposed zippers, but damned if Serena doesn’t look amazing in that.

    • TheDivineMissAnn

Adored that dress until I saw that damn ass huge zipper in the back.  Why, oh, why???

      The shoes?  To. Die.

    • granddelusion

The only thing wrong with this is that it’s so tight it puckers. Also, the platforms (okay, two things) are stupid, but otherwise the shoes are fabulous.

    • Captain Vargr

      Good Lord!

She looks like a transsexual! Look at the size of her arms, hands and feet. Her hair has been so artificially treated it resembles spring coils. And her face…her flat, wide-nostril nose is like something out of a gorilla or chimpanzee.

Is *this* your idea of an attractive female? Honestly?!

Some men are either really sick in the head, or really, really desperate.

      • umeboshi

        GTFO

You and your type of commentary are not welcome here.  GTFO.
T-Lo: Can you block this bigot?

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

You know, you guys are right.  I hate platform pumps, but they look great on her — it’s totally the difference in body type.  They don’t look clunky on Serena, the way they always do on starlets.

    • shag11

Yes, yes, YES, lawd. Looking good, girl. Get it, get it.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/26HEIRR7YPWNBV5CM34E5IOTHU larry

Anybody notice all these women on here finding little faults…take it from this man….YES LAWD…I like it ALL. BOOM! Those legs and buns from the back photo shot…DAM!

    • guest2visits

It all looks great on her.

    • Le_Sigh

      Daaaaaaamn – she looks gooood!

    • Nonnah

She looks lovely, however I’m not a fan of the exposed zipper.  I always feel it cheapens the look.

    • Contralto

She is really rockin that twistout and the bod is to diiiiiie.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=734251880 Joalissa Jean

Dayum! Get that USO trophy girl! Your Chaka Khan hair deserves only the best!

    • http://www.facebook.com/teeokeefe Teresa O’Keefe

      $3895.00 for some shoes…. really?
well i love victoria beckham dresses and she looks fabulous in this one and yes love this hair – i don’t know if it’s a weave, your hair or what but i love it.  i’d be just a happy with those shoes kim kardashian pimps – shoe dazzle – and stick the other 3845… in an IRA. hope she’s paying her taxes….. just saying….

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Charlotte-Sanders/100000745060624 Charlotte Sanders

         This whole comment is ignorant

        • http://www.facebook.com/teeokeefe Teresa O’Keefe

how do you figure? (just seeing this) Maybe you don’t even know what an IRA is, and that would make you IGNORANT, not me. The comment is ALL about paying almost 4 thousand dollars for shoes. how is that ignorant, please enlighten me.

    • CarolinLA

No wonder Yahoo sport linked to this.  That is one beautiful derriere.

    • AnneElliot

Total agreement with you, TLo. I loathe platform shoes but I think this is the first pair I’ve ever liked!  Serena looks FIERCE.  I don’t even mind the back zipper.  And her hair is amazing.

    • TieDye64

Chaka Khan Chaka Khan…digging the hair so much! That really IS her dress.

    • roats

      You look real good

    • quiltrx

      I LOVE those shoes.  Gorgeous.

    • Trisha26

Speaking of ASS…I can’t with the back of the dress. Just no. But the rest of this – is this the absolute best Serena has ever looked anywhere? I say yes.

    • Thathoodwink

She looks gorgeous, slender…I like how the dress fits her in the back. Va va voom! Such a pretty lady.

    • SOLART

      HOT!!!!!

    • CQAussie

Girl could kick my ass with her calves alone!  She looks FAB-U-LOUS.

    • boweryboy

She looks fabulous!  This should have been a WERQ.

It’s the first time I’ve ever seen her not look like a woman with a manly muscular body in an unflattering dress.  This gives her curves.  The hair softens her broad shoulders and the shoes, although hideous in shape, are the perfect eye catching accent.

    • PeaceBang

      BOWING DOWN!

    • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

WOW. I would never, ever have guessed that Posh’s clothes would work so much better on a woman with that shape. Props to Serena for  looking AWESOME.

    • Calusa

just god awful shoes….dress is so so

    • http://profiles.google.com/saramichelef Sarah Michele Ford

Hot, hot, hot. If there is one celebrity body I would like to emulate it’s Serena’s. Not that I have the time to put in at the gym to get it…

I, too, am DONE with the exposed zippers. Yuck.

    • MovieLoverDeluxe

      Gorgeous!!!

    • http://twitter.com/newoldfashioned Jared

Is anyone else tired of seeing exposed zippers? Why was that ever a trend? They feel vulgar without being sexy, almost like showing a lace slip under a nice dress – you CAN cover it up, so why don’t you? It just bends and puckers down the back without doing a thing to enhance the curves or the look.  From the front, though, I give it a thumbs up.

    • Monabel

      Dress TOO TIGHT.

    • xmixiex

      WERQ.

    • poggi

I love this on her.  She looks amazing.  I think you guys are dead on about the hoof/platform thing and how it might work on someone with beautiful, powerful, athletic legs like Serena’s.  I also have more respect now for Victoria Beckham.

    • LambeeBaby

She’s mighty-mighty just lettin’ it all hang out! Sorry, I immediately thought that she was a Brick House and the rest just followed. Superb!

    • DesertDweller79

I LOVE it from the front!  Looks fabulous!  I hate the exposed zipper at the back.  This would look incredible without that zipper.

    • DeTrop

As a long time fan of Serena’s tennis, I must say she looks amazing from head to toe.  Good job.

    • BigOlRedNek

You might not like the zipper, but for me it just accentuates her ASSets!  Good God!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1550881905 Hildegerd Haugen

Wow. She kills it. Love her hair too.

    • fursa_saida

I so agree about the shoes. Plus, at least all that real estate is being used for something visual, as opposed to just sitting there like a concrete block.

    • maretha2

Good lord, she looks gorgeous. If I start playing tennis, can I get that body?? Love her hair, love her make-up, love the outfit + shoes (don’t mind exposed zippers personally). This might be the best advertising I’ve ever seen for a VB dress, too. Color and fit are amazing. You go, Serena! After a Wimbledon championship and two gold medals, you deserve to look FABULOUS.

    • Neverbuynewclothes

When are the David Letterman people going to realize that 1) stars are always photographed going into the show  and 2) it would be nice not to have dumpsters in the background?  Surely in a world that can allow us to experience fabulousness through TLo each and every day someone at the Letterman show can FIGURE OUT SOMEWHERE ELSE TO PUT THE GARBAGE CANS!

    • Laura Hartman

Whoa!  She looks great, maybe the best ever.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

She certainly made Dave’s eyes pop when she came out on stage!  And he told her so, too.

    • Tatiana Jarquin

This is the best she’s ever looked!!! And I agree about the platforms T.Lo, I hate how they look on stick thin celebrities; but Miss Serena is WERQing them here.
