Milla Jovovich for FLARE Magazine

Posted on August 29, 2012

Jeez, who knew, back in the early ’90s when she was posing on the cover of High Times with a big ol’ fatty, that Milla Jovovich would turn into Elizabeth Fucking Taylor?

Milla Jovovich covers the September 2012 issue of FLARE magazine photographed by Max Abadian and styled by Elizabeth Cabral in a Calvin Klein Collection dress, Fallon earrings, a CBD bangle and a Baccarat ring. Hair: Philip Carreon, The Wall Group. Makeup: Jenn Streicher, starworksartists.com.

By the way, did we not say when Liz died that she was going to become the next great fashion and beauty icon, knocking Marilyn off the pedestal after a half-century reign? We did. It’s not that we think Milla looks like her or even that she’s meant to be styled to look like her, just that the classic Liz look is passing into true iconic status, just like Marilyn’s did, and you can see the tropes here, from the hair to the lips to the neckline to the big honking ring. She looks stunning.

      Gorgeous.  Absolutely gorgeous.

      • Vickiefantastico

        Flippin’ stunning!

Thanks for this palate cleanser after the horror of Lucy Lawless.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=50504968 Stephanie Hutson Erbesfield

Right?! That Lucy Lawless thing made me die a little on the insde. Milla Jovovich looks fantastic.

    • Sobaika

She is stunning and also isn’t photoshopped to death. Perfection.

    • http://www.facebook.com/katiewolf2002 Katie Wolf

Milla is freaking amazing. Fact. Always has been amazing. Fact. Doesn’t age… vampire? If it’s a fact, I’m ok with it.

      • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

I, for one, welcome my vampire Milla overlord as long as she keeps looking this fantastic.

    • Clueless_Jock

In this photo she reminds me more of Linda Evangelista than Elizabeth Taylor.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1550881905 Hildegerd Haugen

        I thought the same thing.

        • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Linda is like the Drag Liz.

      • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

        Yes!

      • LaylaSV

Totally. She is aging into the woman Linda Evangelista SHOULD have become but yet somehow, in spite of genetic gifts and ample money, did not.

        • http://twitter.com/GuidosDaddy Jason M. Galloway

Blasphemer! Linda is a god. ;)

          • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

A very man-made goddess, these days. But still awesome!

    • terpsichory

Absolutely GORGEOUS! She’s giving green steel. For real.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Ms. Milla. You are just what I needed this morning. Classic beauty, perfectly turned out.  PROPS!

    • mjude

      just stunning

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

      Beautiful, LOVE that ring!

    • Squarah

Ugh, I love her so much! I just rewatched Fifth Element the other day and she might look even better than she did back then.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m convinced that she does.  She has matured into a stunning woman. Her obvious brains and class show through.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

She’s gorgeous and does come across as intelligent, but I’ve never found her to be much of an actress, sadly.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Oddly, its her ability to be kick ass that carries her.  When she is just “being”, she falls short.

          • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Who needs to act when you look so great carrying a gun? Can’t wait for Resident Evil Infinity!

        • MilaXX

and the fact that she’s still kicking butt in her movies nearly 20 years later is all kinds of awesome.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

            S’whatI’mSayin’

      • http://twitter.com/Goldielox73 Goldie

I love that movie so hard I own the special edition DVD, yet I’m still sucked in when I see it on TV.

    • PastryGoddess

I cannot stop looking at that FACE.  Girl is working it like it owes her money.

Why is she getting more beautiful as she gets older?  This is not fair

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

Linda Evangelista? Oh wait, it’s Milla. Stunning cover.

      • ballerinawithagun

        I agree.

    • holzfaellen

Being able to pose like that on a magazine cover AND to shoot mutant zombies and kick ass in movies – that’s got to be the greatest skill set ever.

    • granddelusion

      Ava Gardner.

    • VioletFem

Why does the thumbnail for this blogpost look so different that the actual post?

    • Kayceed

She has done edgy so well for so long, it’s interesting to see such elegance. She looks timeless.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_DWKVUFLFVNLMOSN7EEYELB3T7I joseg

      Linda Evangelista is that you?

    • Call me Bee

Wow–Leeloo is all grown up and gorgeous.

    • MilaXX

You can see many influences here, still she looks gorgeous.  It’s a nice, clean, classic look. Love everything about this picture and adore Mila’s ability to reinvent herself for each and every occasion.

    • http://twitter.com/Goldielox73 Goldie

She is my girl-crush.  She always looks amazing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

      Love this gal.

    • http://kahoxworth.daportfolio.com/ FishInThePercolator

Am I the only one who can’t help but wrinkle my nose at her a little bit, ever since she came off snooty at the age of twelve for “Seventeen” or some rag like that?  That being said, she looks incredible.

      • ampg

I’ve also always had her on my Irrational Hate List for being snotty and vapid when she was younger, but I suppose it’s time to acknowledge that my opinion was formed 20 years ago and most people change quite a bit over two decades.  She does look terrific.

    • Anathema_Device

Mila is on my short list of women I’d like to look like just for one day. She is absolutely stunning.

    • gabbilevy

      Everything about this is perfect.

    • PostsYouCanDanceTo

She looks so incredible it’s stupefying. And now, a tangent:

Little known Milla Jovovich fact: in 1993, she made an album called “The Divine Comedy” in 1994. And it’s pretty damn good. Here’s the first single

    • ojosazules

Simple, clean, classic elegance. Fashion is so good when you can take it all in at one glance. BAM

    • Nazzzy

      Fucking gorgeous

    • Pants_are_a_must

Such a stunning woman, and though the Liz is not normally a go-to for women who specialize in being ass-kicking nerd pin-ups, she werqs it like she owns it.

    • jw_ny

I totally see elements of Liz’s style in this.  Milla looks stunning….classic.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Lee Lu Dallas Multi Pass.  Man has she come a long long way.

    • VicksieDo

Gorgeous, I wish she would have played Liz Taylor instead of She Who Shall Not Be Named.

      • http://twitter.com/TMamBo Therese Bohn

Christina Hendricks would make a perfect Liz Taylor –We can only hope that someday, somewhere, someone will make a GREAT E.T. biography with Anyone Else but She Who Shall Not Be Named.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

There is a definite “Liz” vibe going on here, but whenever I see Milla, I think of Myrna Loy.

      • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Myrna Loy LOVE, you are so right! But the eyebrows place this in Liz territory.

    • http://twitter.com/GuidosDaddy Jason M. Galloway

My friend drove she and Ali Larter around when they were schlepping their Resident Evil flick here in San Francisco a few years back.  She said Milla was down to earth and cool as Hell.  I love her.  Her song “Gentleman Who Fell” is on constant rotation on my iTunes.

    • Joyce VG

I don’t even care if she’s photo shopped even a little bit.   Goddess!

    • Sobaika

I think a lot of it is more makeup, lighting, photography, and all that comes with being a studio as opposed to the red carpet. Of course there is photoshop, it’s just not overkill to the point where she looks like a poreless mannequin from Planet Plastic.

    • Susan Crawford

      Classic, old-school, full-on, non-stop GLAMOUR!

    • Myra C

I thought I was looking at VOGUE when I scrolled to the picture.  FLARE’s typeface and layout look so similar to VOGUE’s.

Anyway, Milla looks gorgeous as usual.

    • http://needtherapy.tumblr.com/ skadi1

Oh, Leeloo Dallas, how you’ve grown up. Luv ya girl.

    • http://kittysdrawings.com Esz

Now that is how it’s done!!

    • guest2visits

Milla is beautifully styled here; that looks like it could be a gorgeous dress, and I never heard of Flare magazine before.

    • ccm800

Too new to call! Sorry but Liz will not ever knock MM off of anything. Not ever.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=629949513 Paula Rogers Whritenour

      wow!

    • Lisa

Holy cheese!  She looks AMAZEBALLS!!!  I love it! Such total glamour!

    • quiltrx

I LOVE Milla!!  And she looks fabulous here.

    • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Milla can look like absolutely anything. Pretty great skill for a model/actress. Liz has been iconic ever since Joan Collins and Jean Simmons swiped her look way back when. Though I guess they were all gunning for Vivien Leigh.

    • sekushinonyanko

At the very least they were nice enough to leave all of her features clearly recognizable.

    • LocMama

Flawless.  Wish I could rock a pic like this wearing that ring.  I part my lips and instant mouthbreather.

    • Allison Woods

      Per-motherfucking-fection.
