Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood

Posted on August 01, 2012

Someone better call the police!

Kat Dennings attend the 2012 TCA Summer Tour – CBS, Showtime and The CW Party in a Vivienne Westwood dress.

Because she is squeezing those baby heads way too hard.

    Joan Harris’ little sister.

    •  No – Joan Harris knows how to work the boobs.

      Christina Hendrick’s little sister.

Mine hurt just looking at this.

    • SassieCassy

      Joanie would NEVER

Hendricks on the other hand…. yikes

  • Oh lord…

    • drdarke

      Who Let The Dogs Out?

  • She looks gorgeous, if only she could control the twins!!

  • Smile Kat, bitchface and smooshed babyheads do not a pretty picture make.

  • VioletFem

    This is not working.

  • lilibetp

Who is this person?  And why is she trying so dad-gummed hard?

    • DinaSews

She is a comedienne turned sitcom star.  She stars in the CBS show ‘Two Broke Girls’.

      • SassieCassy

That show is about as awful as this look

That should put it into perspective

      • Ali

She’s been in some movies, too – better than the show at least. Off the top of my head, she was a great snarky sidekick in Thor and she was the female love interest in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

        • sweetlilvoice

I think she was in Whip It too…

          • LesYeuxHiboux

She was not in Whip It, but she was the girlfriend/female lead in Charlie Bartlett and she played Bob Saget’s daughter on a short-lived sitcom several years ago. You might be thinking of Alia Shawkat.

          • NC_Meg

Yes, Charlie Bartlett! That movie didn’t get half the attention it deserves. Two Broke Girls is baaaad but her movies are usually good.

        • Little_Olive

She was also the daughter of Steve Carrel’s girlfriend (I Don’t remember her name now) in 40y.o. virgin.

      • Excellence_and_Elegance

If she keeps holding them like that, she will have Two Broken Girls.

        • Sarah Dickerson

      • H3ff

I loved her on Sex and the City as a 13 year old rich girl:

[to Carrie]: “You are SO fucking fabulous.”

    • TheOriginalLulu

Honestly! She’s a beautiful girl with a lovely figure, but…what is she doing to herself??

    • From what I understand, she’s on a network sitcom that’s been critically panned, wasn’t invited back to the Thor sequel, and has had her acting skills and PR charisma questioned by the blogosphere. She wore a similar outfit at a Thor premiere, so I assume “boobs” are her go-to public resume. It’s not the most professional plea. Most likely to get her a Cinemax offer.

      • Ali

Her character was tertiary in Thor – I don’t think her character was ever expected to be carried over, as she was playing a college intern with a job helping Natalie Portman’s Dr. Foster character.

        • H3ff

Exactly, especially considering Natalie Portman’s character wasn’t even mentioned in The Avengers.

          • snarkykitten

actually she was, in passing. Coulson(?) mentions to Thor that they put her up in some super secure research lab

          • She was definitely mentioned, her picture even shows up. 🙂 Coulson has her invited to an observatory in the middle of nowhere to keep her safe. Thor is grateful. Her picture shows up on one of the monitors, and that’s about it.

I loved Denning’s Character in Thor — Darcy was the source of some good humor — but I don’t know what part she would play in a sequel. She was the most disposable of all the characters in the movie, and when you’re going to add at least two new characters in the Thor sequel, it’s logical she’d get cut out.

          • H3ff

I laughed out loud at Denning’s character MULTIPLE times. She has a few great lines that she pulls off with aplomb.

I watched an episode of her new show though, it wasn’t great. Then again, I have not enjoyed a sitcom since Friends stopped, and its not for lack of them.

          • Ali

And considering that Thor 2 is mainly set in Asgard, it makes even less sense to have her return. I liked her character a lot in Thor, but I don’t think it’s any reflection on her personally that she was cut, considering the role.

      • 2 Broke Girls is just bad, bad, bad.

  • Yikes. That looks painful. I don’t really care for the color of that dress, either. Plus the shoes are blah. Sad day, Kat Dennings.

  • EEKstl

As a woman of “bounty” I have NEVER understood why anyone would wear something like that to show them off more.  They’re THERE, we get it, let’s just be a little less obvious about it – trust me, they’ll be noticed anyway. This neckline is UN DISASTRE and the hemline ain’t doing much for her either. She should find out who styled Christina Hendrick’s most successful looks (mostly ad campaigns and fashion editorials) and hire this person STAT.

    • theblondette

I have ENORMOUS boobs and a lot of the time, I flaunt quite a bit of cleavage, because… why not? 🙂 And also because frankly, when you get to a certain bust size, if you want to wear something that fits your chest often lower cut ends up fitting better. This is a disaster not because of the boobage on display but because the dress doesn’t fit. I think the cut of the dress would never be quite flattering on the breasts, but if it fitted better and so the boobs were at a more natural height with a gently pushed together look (rather than smooshed) I think it would be okay…

      • RebeccaKW

I actually think the draping neckline would be very flattering on her, if her girls were in a girl shape.  As in rounded.  Not smooshed in so they are almost non-existent on the sides, and thrust up under her chin.

And I agree-I’ve got the boobs, why not show off some cleavage?

        • theblondette

Definitely agree, Rebecca, on the draping – I’ve worn draped necklines before and they work very well on biiig boobs, but the pointy bit on the top of each side… Is that boning? Whatever it is, it’s stabbing her breasts and that is odd.

          • RebeccaKW

That’s my guess-trying to keep the neckline up while have the off shoulder.

        • Agreed – other women with big busts have looked fabulous in this pretty signature Westwood shape, this one was just bought for a different woman.

          • Elaine Lang

I don’t even know if it’s the dress…I almost think this is a case of “Girl, that is not your bra.”

      •  I agree.. I wear a 30 JJ/K (yes, they do exist)  and do LOTS of cleavage, even in casual, everyday outfits – but cleavage only looks good if you are wearing a bra and clothes that FIT.  Her boobs look horrible, almost deformed. Nice dress though.

        • Vaniljekjeks

I am in a similar size.  I am petite and have enormous boobs.  My boobs hurt for her boobs.  She needs to meet some Calvin Klein dresses.  I swear, I have two CK dresses that flatter my boobs and my petite figure AND my big butt.  It’s not impossible.

      • Little_Olive

I have quite the boobage too. I agree about the cleavage; in fact, high necklines tend to be super-unflattering on me, like I’m nursing forever or something.

BUT I would never, ever, do this to them/myself. Actually, if you wear a daring cleavage you want it to seem more natural allowing a bit of separation between them. More importantly, I would not pair it with the ruching at the thigh. No no no.

Finally, is it me or are the shoes all wrong for this, in that an open toe would somehow have complimented the babyheads better?

      • oohsparkley!

I agree, it isn’t the amount of clevage that is the problem.  It’s the un-natural shape that’s caused by this stupid dress.

    • Sobaika

I know! I can be proud of the mammaries but there’s never been a moment when I thought, “Hmmm, let’s squash them in from the sides and press them against my clavicle. Sounds about right.”

Aside from grossly unflattering, this just looks riotously uncomfortable.

      • Introspective

“Riotous” (and all of its relatives) is one of my absolute favorite words!! Your use of it here is pitch perfect.

      • Spicytomato1

“Hmmm, let’s squash them in from the sides and press them against my clavicle. Sounds about right.”

Also sounds like a mammogram. I understand the old cliche about making sacrifices for beauty, blah blah blah, but this look takes it to a ridiculous new level.

  • that hair! looks dirty and in need of a brush!

  • oh nonononononono!!!!!!!!!   That dress is horrible on her in pretty much every way besides color.  And the way that front draping works it looks like she has one gigantic breast that’s being squeezed to death.

  • call_me_schmeg

    yowza. um. jesus.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Good god, did Hendricks not teach you anything about how NOT to boob it up?

  • DaveUWSNYC

    Holy casaba melons, Batman!

  • SayWTH

    WTH? Just, no.

  • BazoDee

And someone let her leave home like that. GF needs better friends/people.

    • formerlyAnon

       Yeah, you wonder sometimes.

  • elleg929

I am also distracted by her makeup.  The eyeline is bad.  That combined with her scowl and the baby heads = not working.

    • Vickiefantastico

The makeup is horrific, especially the eyes. I think it’s her thing to wear too much makeup, but that’s terrible.

  • To quote my mother: “That’s just vulgar.”

  • christinewithanx

Whoa! This one time, I looked like that…but it was because I needed to feed my baby after he slept through the night. How is everything being pushed up and out so tightly?!!?

  • sagecreek

Oh, Kat. Trying WAY too hard!

  • DinaSews

She looks awful but her face actually looks better than usual.  She goes really heavy and dark with her make-up.

  • onyxkatze

Kat Dennings = major crush. Baby heads or no, she’s the type of person who would have to try reallllllly hard to NOT look sexy.

    • Sobaika

I think she finally succeeded with this look.

  • Sobaika

I don’t understand how this is possible given the laws of physics.

    •  All things are possible, given the correct application of technology, and grim determination.

      • Sobaika

I think you mean chicken wire and a hot glue gun.

        •  I was thinking more along the lines of structural steel, and force fields

          • kimmeister

            Force fields!  *snort*

          • formerlyAnon

             Love the two of you.
This interchange is possibly best part of my day so far. Yes it’s almost noon.

This blog has become my best stress relief, after exercise. And it’s so much more convenient than 75 minutes of cardio.

          • Doing our best for all the PUFs. And often the amount of laughter generated by this site allows me to skip cardio entirely!

          • Sobaika

Right back at you. The commentors here bring a great deal of mirth. I always end up disgusting my snorts and cackles as coughs at work.

    • SassieCassy

i dont either. WHAT am i looking at. how are they being reigned in like that. where do her nips go. i just dont understand.

also i think this is an appropriate time to point out how gross the term babyheads is

      • formerlyAnon

Without meaning any denigration of the female form in its lovely, natural and often imperfect state, the fact that the term babyheads is a tad distasteful is exactly why I think it’s useful as a descriptor.

I, at least, do not use it in a complimentary fashion.

    • MilaXX

You buy a demi cup bra, one size too small & then fasten it on the last hook thereby squeezing the boobs so they have no where to go but up. Drag queens do it to give the illusion of cleavage.

      • Sobaika

Where are the straps though? My chest is about half the size of hers (pretty damn sizable if you ask me) and no strapless bra has ever been to carol them this way. I honestly think there’s some major structuring/wiring going on in the neckline to press her breasts. My boobs hurt just thinking about it.

        • Kayceed

I am guessing that there is a rather involved corset-like structure involved that extends from the waist all the way up to the neckline, with the fabric draped atop.

        • MilaXX

Some demi cups have wide set strap, but if it’s a strapless she could have gotten that look with a bra one size to small fastened tightly. It won’t be comfortable, but it can be done.

        • Corsetmaker

From what I can tell Westwood gowns are all built on a similar corset base. You can see the shape and the boning through some of them.

You might remember the renaissance print corsets she did years ago? Well the shape is basically the same –  17th/18th century inspired stays. I’ve handled one of the corsets and it was powermesh and plastic boning (no steel, disappointingly) but it does give an impressive shape on the right body. That 18th century style pushes the breasts up rather than cupping them and is very good at giving a boost to the small breasted and making moderate ones extra buxom. On larger bosoms though it’s a bit much. Although it helps if it fits. UK cookery ‘goddess’ Nigella Lawson wore a red VW dress that managed to display her substantial assets without shoving them up to her chin.

  • crash1212

Can’t even imagine what the infrastructure for that dress looks like…must be steel with a self-tweaking winch inside. What else would squeeze those babies SO hard?

  • MoHub

How close are we to a nip slip?

    • formerlyAnon

I dunno that anything’s actually going anywhere – jiggling, yes, but those puppies look pretty firmly hemmed in when it comes to real movement.

  • MissAnnieRN

  • Goodness gracious, they’re practically in a heart shape.

  • Judy_J

    She looks supremely uncomfortable.

  • Oh Kat! Kat Dennings has big boobs, but that is not the way to showcase them. And from the look on her face I think she knows it.

  • Kayceed

Since it’s couture, I’ll say Haute Mess.

    • Sobaika

Love that and will incorporate it regularly into my jargon.

    • SassieCassy

bahahahaha i love the bitter kittens. they make me look so pithy and clever in front of my friends

  • 3boysful

I expected your punch line to be along the lines of ” . . . b/c someone’s boobs are making a break for it!”

Between that and the eyeliner applied by a tween–ick.

  • RebeccaKW

That dress would be killer on her (or C. Hend), if she could get the girls in some good support garments.  My boobs are ginormous, and I have bras from walmart that don’t do this to me.

She’s so gorgeous, I hate to see her ruining a great look with boob fail.

    • MilaXX

Stylist do that to the boobs on purpose. It’s not bra fail, it’s a conscious decision to wear a foundation garment that does that to the boobs.

      • formerlyAnon

Which makes all sorts of sense for we flatter-chested sisters, but ya gotta wonder when somebody thinks this is a desirable result.

  • She looks like she can’t put her arms down or the dress will drop….

  • Those closed toe shoes…dark n clumpy shorten her leggs n really nixes the look for her!

    • Bert, you better be in town for NYFW. We need to meet for coffee and gossip.

    •  @facebook-832273863:disqus is right — the shoes are a travesty too.

      And, HI!!! xoxoxo

  • Trisha26

You meant “barely” in a Vivienne Westwood dress. Oh dear.

  • Jessi03

    She stole Christina Hendrick’s stylist!

  • MilaXX

UGH! baby heads, bad hemline and the wrong shoe. Another website had a face off between her and Christina Hendrix in a similar neckline & believe it or not Christina’s baby heads looked better.

  • SassieCassy

it looks so wrong and uncomfortable and violating

  • Beth G

That’s one of the most unattractive bosom shots I’ve ever seen.

  • SassieCassy

Also if you looked at that picture and your first thought was about the shoes then I think your missing something

  • Tatiana Luján

Her face looks beautiful, love that lipstick and that hair color on her and the blue of the fabric fits very nicely with her skin tone. That said, that’s an awful dress.

  • Vlasta Bubinka

    Tacky tackiness
    Draped bodice full of angst
    ‘Round the world breasts weep

  • Sobaika

Bert Keeter! I think you’re fab.

We’re breaking the fourth wall here.

EDIT: This was supposed to be a direct reply, but thank you Disqus for making me seem even more nonsensical than usual.

    • Uncle Bert’s been going around our comments section a lot lately and we’ve been loving his short, but sweet take on things.

  • I had to scroll through the pictures quickly just to get to the bottom because it was too painful to look at. She needs to fire the person who allowed her to wear that dress, not only because her cleavage is painful but because overall it’s hideous.

  • l_c_ann

That dress might be more flattering if it were worn upside down.

  • Introspective

Not only is this a boring look. She also made herself look unnecessarily chunky with this limp ruching and wide neckline along with the girls who are CRYING out for their release from jail. Or at least for some more personal space than theyre currently getting.

Girl, bye. Try using a stylist next time. And if one was involved in the making of this outfit fire them now.

  • I have no idea who this person is, or even why she’s famous, but hell, if I were a person if celebrity interest, I’d try to at least look happy.  Her bosoms look almost  vertically rectangular and she looks so miserable! Poor kid. Maybe she realized too late that this didn’t work.

  • She puts Christina Hendricks to shame.

  • alyce1213

It looks like there’s someone (out of sight, behind the screen) pulling that dress off her body.

Also, bad eye makeup, over-lined lips, wrong shoes. Nothing is right, except the color.

  • Terri Smith

When I saw this picture, my breasts thanked me for all my years of treating them humanely.  You’re welcome, ta-tas.

  • She does not look in the least bit comfortable…or happy.

  • Hurrah for natural boobs in the Hollywood set!  Booooo for poorly showcasing them.  And I’m not even going to talk about hair and makeup….

  • Christina wore this actual dress in red last year, no? And did a similar ‘girls’ hoist?

  • NCDFan

Her poor girls look squeezed to death. Ouch!

  • Didn’t she play a spoiled teen brat in Sex And The City who said, ‘YOU are f*cking fabulous!’ to Carrie Bradshaw?

    Kind of luv huh now.

  • The draping effect makes it look like the dress is melting off of her. And yes, my girls hurt just looking at her boobs.

  • afabulous50

  • Cathy S

    Oh good god no!

  • Call me Bee

That scares me–will she do that to others who get in her way?
Seriously, though, this is so aging!  Honey–your cleavage wil look like this soon enough–no need to rush toward this look…

  • gabbilevy

Her posing here does not help. Yikes.

  • filmcricket

Gotta give Westwood some credit, there is very clearly some serious structure going on in this dress, and you can barely see it in the garment itself. I’m pretty sure La Hendricks has worn a similar creation that appeared to defy the laws of physics while looking for all the world like a casually draped sheet from the outside. I would really love to know how she does it.

  • janetjb

    No, no, no, no, no!

  • luciaphile

She looks desperate, not sexy and my first impression was that the back of her dress maybe got caught in her panties.

    • PinkLemon

The non-smile seems to emphasize the desperation.

  • frannyprof

She looks like she’s in so much pain. Why suffer for fashion when the result is less than fabulous?

  • TxMom2011

  • OUCH.
    And the hemline is terrible.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Hiddy. She has some real issues she needs to address when she chooses clothes, but she seems to go the absolute opposite route she should in terms of fabric, shape and color. And then she ends up looking lumpy, tacky, and awkward.

  • Aurumgirl

Oh, Kat, I’d be unhappy in that get up, too.

  • quiltrx

That just looks gross.  And I normally like Westwood, but I don’t know what’s going on here.

  • TheOriginalLulu

    Oh girl, NO!!

  • BrooklynBomber

Terrible. Makeup to dress to shoes — a teenager’s idea of grownup and sexy.

  • kimmeister

It weirds me out that there appears to be no distinction between her boobs, armpits, and shoulders, they’ve merged into one body part.

  • She looks ridiculous. I feel second-hand embarrassment for her.

  • formerlyAnon

She & Ms. Hendricks can have a baby head boobs-off.

(Hendricks FTW, despite the talent shown here)

  • That looks painful, as does the batwing pose which I suspect is to keep the slightly off the shoulder neckline from sliding further down her arms.  Is she another curvy girl to whom designers will not deign to lend flattering dresses for photo ops?  She has my condolences, but this is not a flattering dress at all.

  • Kat Dennings is absolutely gorgeous. But this outfit makes her look like a moron! The boob configuration here is absolutely horrid! She can’t possibly be comfortable like that. Demerits for the overdone eyeliner, the chunky platforms and the neon orange-pink nail polish.

  • Nopinkertons

Geez, *another* 20-something dressed like a 40-something trying too hard.  WTH???

  • KathKo

what is this dress made of ? Cardboard ?

  • sashaychante

  • JuliaInBlack

Oh ow, too smooshy!  That’s ten pounds of boobs in a five-pound sack.

  • granddelusion

  • Larkin21

    I love that dress.

  • Girl, you can’t handle the Westwood.

  • TLo, I love you for this post!

  • Dan_In_NYC

It’s not good that the first thing I think when I see baby heads is Christina Hendricks.  Not good.

  • michelle shields

    that looks like it hurts

  • snarkykitten

why do women with amazing bodies work so hard to make them look like shit?

  • greyhoundgirl

The sad thing–that she thinks this is sexy.

  • Rand Ortega

Loved Kat Dennings since she played the Brat Mitzvah girl on SATC (“Talk to the hand, Grandma. I’ve been giving blowjobs since I’m 12!”). But this– wow. Every head in those pictures looks deeply unhappy. & uncomfortable.

  • oh.  oh oh oh.  so unfortunate.  and please, honey, smile!

  • BrightsideSusan

Just seeing Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood made me afraid to scroll down.  Beautiful girl but not in this dress.

  • The mind boggles. Does she not own a mirror? Has she been brainwashed completely by Hollywood’s obsession with T&A? How can she possibly not see how trashy she’s made herself look? Although…maybe when she put on the dress initially the neckline didn’t droop quite so much? That’s the only explanation for this.

  • Dagney

Who are they?  I mean, she? who is she?

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Good god she looks uncomfortable.  Not an attractive look.  Dislike both the dress and the shoes!

  • sweet_potato

From the expression on her face, she knows how riddy this getup is.

  • I think she really loves those babyheads.

  • alwaysanswerc

That eyeliner is exactly how I did my makeup in 7th grade.
Since then, I’ve learned to blend.
Does she share makeup people with Taylor Momsen?

  • There’s a woman who looks like she’d rather be anywhere else than on a red carpet and she doesn’t care who knows it.

  • Seanybills

On the plus side, her decolletage and the neckline (boobline”) makes a heart in the last picture.  I’ve highlighted them in case anyone was only seeing babyheads.

  • Looks painful.

  • aristida_girl

I didn’t even know this girl had enough goin’ on to do the baby-head thing, her poor boobies must be screaming for oxygen 🙂 nothing against her though, every girl wants to take the girls out to play once in a while..

  • guest2visits

If only this was a normal dress. I can’t really even picture the kind of hardware needed for this.

  • SophieCollier

That just looks freakish, NOT because her boobs are big, but because they seem to be floating.

  • GTrain

Does she have no one in her life to tell her how ridiculous she looks?

  • berkeleygirl

I think the boobs are supposed to distract us from the gawd-awful eye makeup.

  • akprincess72

  • Corsetmaker

Typical VW style, inner corset (prob powernet and plastic boning) in a 17th/18th century inspired shape. Works best on smaller boobs but can be good on a larger bust if it fits. This is a bit small and she’s doing that hunched forward pose that isn’t helping, if she pulled her shoulders back she’d look better. And in my opinion it would also look better with a longer skirt (and better hair and make-up).

  • TieDye64

  • RzYoung

her boobs look like a bum

  • Presumptuous Insect

  • Nope, she does nothing for me.
