Jaime King in Giambattista Valli

Posted on August 02, 2012

We’re VERY ANGRY at you right now, Jaime King.

Jaime King attends the Lexus ‘Laws of Attraction’ at Metreon in San Francisco in a Giambattista Valli dress and shoes.

 Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2012 Collection

Giambattista Valli Velvet Embossed Metallic Wedge Sandal

Because you denied Helen Mirren the chance to wear this dress and we’re kind of upset about that.

Which isn’t to say this dress is too mature for her; just that it’s perfect for a stylish, mature lady. Streep might have been able to WERQ this one too, although she tends not to do well with a lot of fussiness up near her face.

Still; she looks super-cute here. Love the winged eye. She’s got the features for it.

    I think she looks lovely.

    • Little_Olive

It’s not the right shade of taupe and the red is too Christmas-y.

      • Little_Olive

Oops, meant to reply at the second commenter! So sorry.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Her hair is too yellow. It’s like, brought to you by Crayola.
The dress is nice, but that color is a little drab. I do agree that it’s perhaps better suited to Helen Mirren than to Jaime King.

    • http://twitter.com/HeckYeahHeckNo KC

That was, like, my very first thought. I can’t get past the bright yellow hair. Its too much! But, cute dress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

      agree!

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

That shade of taupe is definitely bringing out the yellow in her hair.

    • E_bee

Maybe that’s it. With both this one and the blue dress the other day, I thought the colors didn’t suit her. She looks somehow both sallow and too pink? But maybe it’s the yellow hair that’s doing that to her.

    • kimmeister

The hair is verging on green in the 2nd picture!

I LOVE it! My only criticism is that the velvet shoes strike me as a bit “holiday.”  But otherwise, I think she looks great! Even this – usually rather awkward – length is right!

    • TonyGo

Totally agree. She looks great, but this screams Autumn or Holiday.

    • H3ff

The red ones shown in the bottom picture maybe, but the black ones she’s actually wearing do not look “holiday”. You can’t even tell that they’re velvet.

  • Violina23

The eye makeup made her look like Jennifer Morrison at first glance. Cute, but maybe it’s a bit too long?

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Just from the thumbnail pic, I thought it was Katherine Heigl!

    I LOVE that dress. GIMME.

    • TropiCarla

      YES. I L.O.V.E. it!
If I ever get my figure back post-baby, I will have to hunt down a knock-off or convince my mother to revive her sewing machine. It would be PERFECT for my next preacher’s-daughter event (true story).

  • Lilithcat

That dress is super-cute!  But I probably think that because I’m closer to Helen Mirren’s age than Jaime King’s.  A lot closer.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Simple, gracious, ladylike and softly elegant.

    • norseofcourse

Yay for ladylike! Can we have more ladylike in the world? Please?

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m right there with you. I’m truly tired of the overt, the obvious, the too tight, too short, too low and too just plain vulgar.

        • understateddiva

besides, she has a pretty neck and arms, and she’s showing those off.  T&A aren’t the only sexy body parts.

  • PinkLemon

    must. have. those. shoes.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Very cute.  For a community theater production of “Bells Are Ringing”.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It really does shout Judy Holliday, doesn’t it?

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I keep hear the song “Just In Time” everytime I looked at it, lol.

  • Deb_Lynn

i NEVER would have picked out this dress for anyone, looking at it simply on the model. It looks bland, and frumpy on the poor model. Bravo to whomever saw the opportunity.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i dont really know how old she is but i’m not sure it matters– i still think she looks great virtually tip to stern. all she needs is a drabber on her hair. in addition, that is how you wear a pair of platform shoes. both hers & the model’s are pretty perfect. a good, high, subtle, velvet, fake snake wedge–yow. i dunno, i guess i am pretty bored w/ people wearing as little as possible. i mean, it’s been around too long, it no longer carries much meaning beyond look at me. this is better.

  • snarkykitten

You show up to an event sponsored by Lexus…in something that you should be wearing to a 5th grade picnic.

  • Call me Bee

Hmmm. I thought I knew who Jaimie King is, but I guess not.
Anyway…she does look cute here and its a cool dress. I wish she would have stuck with the burgundy shoe. The black is too boring.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

I always expect to see Jaime Pressley when I see her name.

      • Call me Bee

        Yeah–I think that’s what I do, too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

I thought this was pretty… until I scrolled down and saw the rest of it

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

      I loved the top too.

  • hughman

Car Show Models have really upped their game, huh?

  • SapphoPoet

Interesting, but I don’t love it–maybe I would like it better in the fall as it’s not very summery. Thank goodness she didn’t wear the black hose like the model.

  • http://twitter.com/GuidosDaddy Jason M. Galloway

Had VIP passes to that event but had to work :( My boyfriend Jason Schwartzman was there and I’m sure he was devastated by my absence….

  • marilyn

This dress is interesting because it is supposed to be for fall, but is just fine for summer.  I like it.  I like it on her.

  • 5HT

I’m not entirely sure that tan colour suits her, but she looks great nonetheless. The dress is very interesting – it’s mature and slightly childlike at the same time.

(Also, am I the only one experiencing weird formatting issues on the main tlo page? The posts don’t align properly and show up in two columns for some reason)

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

I just can’t quite get behind the dress. The fabric of the skirt is so light and summery, and the fabric of the bodice looks thick and not at all summery. Just a weird combination.

  • MilaXX

    Very cute!. Love the look

  • LesYeuxHiboux

The hair is horrid. It’s the color of that shredded-cellophane grass in Easter baskets. Not crazy about the color of the dress on her, either. Great shoes!

  • Sara__B

I like that oddly pretty dress on her, but the shoes and the oddly yellow hair? Not so much.

  • Tatiana Luján

If this dress hit just below the knee, I would like it.

  • kimmeister

What a great dress on her, she has just the right frame for it.

  • bellafigura1

There’s a color palette problem here.  The lip/hair vs the dress/shoes, not to mention the skin tone vs everything.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

    Thumbs down on the shoes.

  • SophieCollier

It’s very pretty.  I like how it’s styled on the model too– the tights and reddish shoes looks great with it.

  • formerlyAnon

It’s every woman for herself – no reason she should skip something that looks so good on her just so someone else can have it!

  • frankystein123

    WOW.

  • ccm800

I would have tossed her a werq for this.

  • Larkin21

Gorgeous dress. Don’t really like the hair color.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRealSandraOh Sandra Oh

I think if the hem was a bit higher, it would have been perfect.  Jaime is always the odd duck with her style but this is very polished for her.  Bravo!

  • quiltrx

Very pretty!  I like the unusual neckline.
