In or Out: Anna Kendrick in Mulberry

Posted on August 06, 2012

We’ve spent the day being very firmly declarative when it comes to our red carpet posts. We wouldn’t suggest there’s anything particularly odd about that (“Honey, I’m worried. We seem to be very opinionated today.”), but we figure after all our bloviating, it’s time to turn the opinionatin’ over to y’all. Especially since we had immediate bad reactions to this look, top to bottom, and we’re interested to see if anyone can mount a decent defense.

Anna Kendrick attends the premiere of ‘ParaNorman’ in Los Angeles in a Mulberry resort dress paired with an Edie Parker clutch, Kwiat jewelry, and Hervé Léger sandals.

Mulberry Resort 2012 Collection

Wrapping paper. In a highly unflattering shape. And we almost never say this sort of thing, but even the shoes are unflattering. It’s just an awful look, to our eyes. Her hair and makeup are pretty, at least. We’ll give her that. But kittens, you’re gonna need to work overtime convincing us otherwise.

Vote Now!

IN! Because reasons!

OUT! Barbie’s awkward younger sister, whom no one discusses out of respect for Barbie.

The kittens were not feeling charitable toward Miss Jessica Biel last week, voting her attempt at wearing couture a big ol’ OUT.

I think I had a princess costume made out of that fabric when I was in first grade.

    Nostalgia aside, no argument here—OUT.

  • http://blue-again.myopenid.com/ blue

I think she looks great, but the sneer on her face is bringing the whole look down. I don’t remember her being one of those people (like Kristen Stewart) whose natural expression is to sneer. I guess she was just having a bad day.

    • A Reeves

That big toe dragging on the ground has got to hurt.

      • schadenfreudelicious

i think she’s going to need a visit to the podiatrist after those come off….

    • nannypoo

I’m going to step in and defend her here. I don’t see her sneering. She just has a smile that doesn’t crinkle up her face. Much like I never think Katy Holmes is smirking. She just has an asymmetrical face.

Kristen Stewart, now, that girl sneers.

      • http://blue-again.myopenid.com/ blue

You’re right. On second look, it’s no so much a sneer as just an odd smile. Like the top of her face is frozen.

        • funkypeanut

It looks to me like she’s just really unsure of herself. In the close-up especially she looks nervous.

      • Mod_girl

While I don’t think it’s a sneer, I do think it’s a not-quite “smile” that she’s been practicing in the mirror per some publicist’s advice.  (Much like the one I practiced for my own wedding photos).

  • kelsita421

oh god no make it stop! metallic pink horrors! and is that her natural hair color? don’t love, but maybe it’s just because of that dress.

  • Anathema_Device

Nope, not gonna talk you out of this one. I like the design of the dress. Actually it brings to mind the Kenley Emmy dress. But the fabric is all wrong. It is so heavy as to look like upholstery fabric.

Looking like you’re an old lady’s chair = Out. All she needs is the plastic fabric protectors or doilys to keep her from getting dusty.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=745465637 Nellie Wilson

Exactly my thoughts, thank you. Fit and fabric are not flattering. In theory, I like the design concept, it just wasn’t carried out very well in this case. I do love a strappy sandal. These are not that sandal, however. OUT.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=521523033 Erin Schubert Needham

Makeup looks perfect.  Dress looks like pink leather, two words which should never be uttered together.

  • crash1212

No defense here. You are absolutely right – on all counts. See? That was easy!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1248212910 Jessie Melcher Brown

Darts that point right to the tips of her breasts are not a good look.  Too obvious.
That pink does nothing for her.
Shoes/purse, meh?  They don’t offend me but they are not memorable.
    OUT

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/PZJXF5ET5W5PMUIIGTTNOKHVSY Ka T

Those awkward pleats look like a mock-princess neckline.  Not liking the shirring at the waist, either.  Love the clutch!

  • Pants_are_a_must

Love everything above the neck. Everything below it is OUT.

    • out for a walk

It’s true: her earrings look cute! Like tiny sea urchins, perhaps!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Inês-Martins/100000345906318 Inês Martins

She looks in pain….! It hurts! ouch

  • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

No, OUT. On top of everything you mention, it makes her look really, really tiny, as if she was 13.

  • http://aldonsusi.blogspot.com/ Susi R

    Out.

  • Vickiefantastico

You won’t get any convincing out of me. This is one of the worse looks I’ve seen in a very long time. The breast arrows are off putting, the grandma-drapery fabric is heavy and shiny, and her feet look like they are in immense pain. I feel sorry for her. At least her hair and makeup look okay!

  • bookish

OUT mostly because her feet look so painful. Also, I couldn’t figure out what was so strange about the folding on her chest, and “wrapping paper” is exactly it. Weird!

  • http://twitter.com/SioConnellan Siobhan Connellan

I rarely say this, but in this isolated case I can forgive the “shiny” because there’s a least a pattern to it to prevent it from looking like ’80s prom satin. Also the fit and color are great on her (though the proportions may be a smidge off). The shoes, on the other hand, are beyond tragic and should be burned immediately if not sooner.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Honey…no. OUT. The hair and makeup do look nice but that dress is hideous and I can’t stand it when toes are hanging out off of the shoes like that…that means there’s something wrong with the size or the shoe! Ick.

  • nannypoo

    Home ec, 8th grade.

  • VioletFem

I like the shape of the dress, especially the neckline detail, but hate the fabric and color of it, which totally ruins it for me. Also, it seems a bit juvenile for her. If this dress was made with a non-shiny fabric and in a non-offensive color (like blue) it would look great on someone like Kiernan Shipka.

  • boomchicabowwow

Where’s her waist?  How is it possible to obscure a waist that tiny?!

  • jane__doe_1

…at least she didn’t go with the band-aid color the model is wearing. And very pretty from the neck up.

  • rissa42210

Out because of the lines to the nipples, the wrapping paper motif, the nothing-special-about-it-at-all.  It looks like a little girl’s dress on her.  Chloe Moretz would be better suited to this dress, but girlfriend is above it.  The shoes look like silly string – painful silly string.  Her face looks pretty, and the color is nice on her.  Although, her hairstylist needs to not dye her eyebrows the same color as her hair.  Love the bag.

  • Bozhi

Out.  At first I thought it just did not fit her, but on second look, it’s just ugly.

  • hughman

Wait, didn’t a version of this dress in black win PR last week??

    • MilaXX

      touché

    • Susan Sontag

      That was navy blue

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I immediately though that the dress was too shiny, a skosh too tight, and in general, unflattering.

    And the shoes are hideous.

Don’t love the hair, but the makeup looks good.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Agreed on all fronts. Her usual hair colour is darker than this isn’t it? I think prettier that way. But I like her lipstick.

  • Pennymac

Unequivocal OUT.  Metallic pink upholstery fabric, overly gathered at the waist and reversed nipple darts?  Plus, those shoes make MY feet hurt, and I’m barefoot in front of my ‘computer!

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Really, there should be arrowheads at the ends of those darts, just in case you miss that they are pointed right at her nipples.  How unflattering in every way.  I do love her hair, though, and where others see “sneer” I see her channeling Taylor Swift’s half smile.  She’s got amazing teeth–I bet there was orthodonture in her formative years.

As for the shoes, it’s hard to believe that the model in black anklets looks better than these Pick-n-Pay creations.

That all adds up to an “OUT”, fellas.

  • mmgk

Polish the toenails, please!  The dress could be okay, but I hate everything around the foot area.

  • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

The poor girl! Her luggage got mixed up with the Sleeping Beauty On Ice wardrobe production and she was stuck wearing Princess Aurora’s solo gown on the RC.  This also explains why her shoes don’t fit. The poor thing. She so obviously wants to run and hide from the cameras.

Hair and makeup look darling. The color isn’t horrible on her. But she’s still wearing an ice princess costume. OUT

  • Karen Tully

That dress was designed for someone with no breasts (see: model photo).  If you’ve got tits, you really can’t make it look good.  And the fabric would be divine as the upholstery of a 1957 Dodge LaFemme, but as a dress, um, no.

    • http://profiles.google.com/ameliaheartsu Amelia Logan

The model also has a longer torso, see where the waistline hits her natural waist and on anna it sits on her hips.

  • DCSheehan

Out. It only got worse in close up. Horrid.

  • jmorino08

Anna, Give that dress to Kiernan Shipka and stop shopping in the girls’ department!

    • http://www.facebook.com/meg.burgess.50 Meg Burgess

I was thinking Elle Fanning (possibly Ariel Winter) but Kiernan works, too. Basically just choose a starlet under the age of say, 14, and ship it to her, Anna!

    • http://profiles.google.com/ameliaheartsu Amelia Logan

      Elle Fanning.

  • crash1212

OUT OUT OUT. OUT! And she should apologize to her feet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579041922 August Galifi

I cannot stand seeing redheads (she’s a redhead now? wtf?) in this shade of pink. It just looks awful together. Not to mention that the dress looks like it was made out of a housecoat from 1963.

  • j_anson

    Oh, yuck. OUT.

Also, her head looks oddly disproportionate to her body in that last one. Which, uh, probably isn’t her fault. It’s just funny.

  • call_me_schmeg

tit napkins. is that a swan? OUT.

  • http://opinionandamovie.blogspot.com/ Deitra S.

I COULD defend this dress, if it were being worn by Hailee Steinfeld or Kiernan Shipka.  But even then both of them would have accessorized better. O to the UT!

  • janetjb

At least she didn’t wear the same color as the model!  (Her hair and makeup are nice)

    OUT

  • Monabel

Lovely color, and great for her. 16th century Mannerist princess.

  • greymain

    hate it all.OUT

  • sagecreek

    OUT

  • MilaXX

Before I vote, let me just say, WTH with shoes & stylist?  Is it so important to slap the latest designer shoe on a lady celeb that the size doesn’t matter? Do they tell the fashion houses to just send over whatever pair they have laying around?

That said and monkey toes aside, I vote a small IN. I don’t think this is as shiny as it photographed and she looks pretty and summery.

  • formerlyAnon

Out. It’s unflattering and beyond that, just totally “not quite.”

[And I wish to go on record as believing that the BKs were gravely mistaken last week re: Ms. Biel's outing in Dior]

  • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

Like the color of the dress…but not on her.  Like the clutch…but not with this outfit. Actually think the shoes are cute…but not on her. Like the cut of the dress…but not on her.  Like the color of her hair…but the style is awful. Like the earrings, but they don’t work with this outfit.

None of these things should share in a single look.Uh…I do like the color of her nail polish. Does that count as a “spirited defense”?

    Pr’bly not, huh?

  • Judy_J

I just came off the Lindsey Lohan debacle, so this looked pretty good to me.  I don’t hate the dress, but the fabric reminds me of a dress my mom made for me when I was in the 6th grade.  She let me pick the fabric and I picked an upholstery fabric very similar to this.  She made the dress, and I wore it.  Anyway, I’m feeling very charitable, so I’ll give Miss Kendrick an IN, because she’s bravely wearing a dress made out of upholstery fabric.

  • http://twitter.com/project_pandora Rachel S.

Oh wow, yeah this looks uncomfortable as hell, and I was all ready to defend her because I ADORE Anna. She’s awesome.

  • mjude

NO.  good god what is the dress fabric? only thing i like is the purse.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Out.  The clutch is better than the shoes, the shoes are better than the dress, the dress is better than the hair.  The hair is just awful.

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

The fabric of that dress is very mid-60′s, grandma’s curtains, isn’t it. And the shoes look like something dreamed up by the Spanish Inquisition.

Her hair and makeup and earrings are gorgeous, but still. Out. Sorry, honey. I have a weakness for redheads, but even that doesn’t get you an in here.

  • Emma Hudson

IN! I think the color is gorgeous on her, and the shoes – although they look like they hurt like HELL – are a light, appropriate choice for the dress, event, and season. Some sort of belt is needed to cinch her waist to make it a little more flattering, but to my eyes, she looks more good than bad. And her hair and make up is flawless.

  • RebeccaKW

Out.  That dress is growing out of her nipples.  NO!

  • Vlasta Bubinka

    OUT

    pink fripple nipple

  • Sara__B

Out. The color, silhouette, and bulky fabric do NOT flatter.

  • Samantha Irene

    Nothing redeemable here – OUT

  • GorgeousThings

Was Midge Barbie’s awkward younger sister?

    • Judy_J

      That was Skipper.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

Really? I think she looks good. I normally don’t think that about her. This is the first time she doesn’t seem overly top-heavy.

    IN!

  • ringthing

van upholstery dress, torture shoes. out

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

This is a Fanning dress. The shoes look cheap and uncomfortable. I love the clutch, and the hair and makeup. But it’s a big ol’ out.

  • Julie Chase

    OOOOOUT.

  • marilyn

Barely IN.  This covered up shirtwaist dress from the 1960′s is big this season.  I don’t care for the neckline, but this dress is not offensive.  It just isn’t a hit.  Not good, not bad, just mehhh.

  • jcolli69

The color is nice with her skin tone, but the pleats around the neckline that draw your attention to her nipple area are horrendous. That fabric reads as 4 year old’s birthday wrapping paper and those shoes are strangling her poor toes. I like her clutch, hair and makeup tho! But hair, makeup and clutch an outfit does not make. OUT.

  • SewingSiren

I like the bodice, but the fabric (metalic burlap?!)would be better used for a pencil skirt.

  • kimmeister

Out.  Makeup is divine (her brows are perfect!) and I like the clutch, but that’s it.

  • DaveUWSNYC

    Out. Nipplefolds.

  • Clueless_Jock

I think it needs a belt.

  • teensmom99

OUT and an argument for why you have to try clothes on (and even have them tailored) even if you have a great body.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Out without equivocation.  Its a mess of a dress, in a weird, offish, “innards pink” that is quite unflattering to her.  And those too small, too strappy shoes, make her look like she just left her Do It Yourself Foot Binding class.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Louise-Bryan/1177213326 Louise Bryan

First impression:  what an ugly dress!  (although on second thought, unfortunate might be kinder than ugly)
Second impression:  She’s all one color!

You guys nailed this one — most definitely, OUT!

  • librarygrrl64

Makeup good, hair fine, clutch nice, shoes questionable, dress AWFUL. OUT.

  • TSkot

    Needs a belt

  • fringebenefit

In…I’ve never seen her look so beautiful–the dress is so-so, but it’s working for her.

  • FashionShowAtLunch

Yes, everything about this look kind of sucks.  BUT I do have one thing to say in defense of this ensemble – I think this is a great color on her.

  • Thathoodwink

The fabric looks too thick to be worked into a dress. If the color is as pink as it looks in some photos., no. If the color is more mulberry, I’d say I at least like the color. It’s also too shiny and the shoes remind me of those plastic strips that you’d weave into a lanyard and put your roller skate key on.

    • Thathoodwink

Oh, I do love her clutch!

  • Squarah

And now I’m back on the same page with you guys. Wrapping paper for SERIOUS. Also I fear for her pinky toes with those shoes…

  • JasmineAM

Hahaha my mom used a fabric nearly the same texture and color for my PRESCHOOL prom (ridiculous, I know!) dress. I loved it, of course. Then again, I was 4. Although, I’d argue mine looked much better, and I think it’s still in a closet at home.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bethany-Fairbrother/100000276174879 Bethany Fairbrother

The darts that point to the nipples and the twee skirt and the color…Oh God!  No one over 8 should ever wear that color in public.  Shoes were kind of cute.OUT

    a) its sooo pink
    b) I could make that
    c) there is to much gathering on the skirt

Out. Her shoes look like string cheese.

  • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

I was meh about the dress but the shoes make it a big ol’ OUT for me.

  • MissKimP

There is something about the combination of fabric texture and color that brings to mind flaying … just saying.

A bridesmaid’s dress.  An ugly one.

She must be getting advice from Amy Adams.

  • ballerinawithagun

Out! Pleats as darts that aren’t darts, when will it stop!!!

  • Trisha26

Out. Fabric looks like drapes or a sofa. Shoes are horrid. She’s adorable.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

Ugly shoes. Ugly dress. Sorry, Anna. Out!

  • Joyce VG

I’m going to try this. IN!  Starting from top to bottom:  Her hair is styled well.  It frames her lovely face which is glowing from a great make-up job.  Her eyes are a lovely blue!  Th white clutch is pretty!  The color of the dress compliments her skin tone and the length of the dress is perfect!  She looks comfortable in the dress because it is slightly big on her.  The white sandals match her clutch but that is appropriate in this instance.  (I tried.)

  • bellafigura1

IN, because she looks happy and confident and pretty and like she loves the way she looks.  Big IN.

  • kim i

i don’t like the look, but, damn, that appears to be one poorly attended premiere.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PCARAOJSL553GBBPQSLRYD5REE L.

The shoes are awful and the bodice pleats hit right at the nipples, BUT… such a great color on her!

in (lowercase to denote deep reservations)

  • MissAnnieRN

Nay x1000. And her hair color was surely done professionally, but you sure can’t tell.

  • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

Out. It looks hot and scratchy.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/QK3MTAHUVJCMI7DANY6WFCAIUM n a

You called it T-Lo.  And yea, the shoes look awful- looks like someone tried to truss the piggies with plastic straps. ugh! Face looks very pretty- but wow- hair looks worn out! what is she 25? That hair looks tatty. :/ poor girl try again, and for pity’s sake and lay off the aquanet!

  • allisankelly

Out! That dress is horrid. It’s a size too big, first of all and second of all, why are designers f*cking with the boobie area so much? Boob-wings and boob ruffles and now inverted boob darts that make a triangle of her bosom? Total home-ec project.

I like the accessories and she looks pretty above the shoulders. I wish I had her eyebrows.

  • pookiesmom

I think, had she gone all out and styled it as a 1950′s housewife-about-town, it could be costumey cute. That would call for high hair and cat-eyes, though. Those shoes are horrible and the way she’s posing as though clinging onto the side of her stomach for dear life is wrinkling the dress in all kinds of awkward ways.

I don’t have an intrinsic distaste for the dress, but I think it calls for a much stronger hand with styling. Her hair and makeup, while pretty, aren’t making a bold enough statement to lift the outfit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

I like the shoes, but otherwise, OUT.

  • prettybigkitty

    Out.*

*do kinda love the shoes, but they desperately require a good pedicure and pretty feet to wear.

  • SatelliteAlice

I actually think the shape isn’t bad for her but the fabric was a bad decision.  I cannot however find anything good to say about the shoes.  They are beyond help.  Out.

  • Call me Bee

I think I’ve seen that fabric in the upholstery section at Joann Fabrics. OUT.

  • guest2visits

The shiny mauve fabric seems to be taking it into doll clothing territory. It really doesn’t look so bad on the model.
In fact, the material even seems heaveir on Anna; pulling the waistline down – instead of where it should be (as on the model).
The shoes are possibly Barbie’s cougar aunt; Sherrie.   Actually; Lindsay did a pretty good cougar-ish outfit in her last post.

  • Cautiously Pessimistic

Out. There was a neat idea there in the top, but it’s the wrong fabric, and who thought a dirndl skirt would complement the pleated top?

  • margaret meyers

Her hair and makeup is v e r y nice, and I bet this color is better indoors than out on the sidewalk.

    that’s all I’ve got.

  • PrunellaV

The unpedicured toes are the final nail in the coffin. OUT.

    • mhleta

Hold off on that nail. She might have a french pedicure, ie pale pink on her toes.

  • StrandedFashionista

OUT. I don’t like the fabric in the slightest, although her hair looks very nice.

  • Synnamin

IN! I love it – great color on her, lOve the shape and the shoes.

  • Judy_S

I’ll give her an IN. Yes, there are all those things wrong with it, but I like the color on her and I thinks she looks cute. Yay Skipper!

  • quiltrx

OUT.  I like the *idea* of the dress, but the execution fails it.  And those awful shoes…they look like they’re made out of 80′s gummy bracelets.

But I would cut any number of bitches for that clutch!

  • Jessica Goldstein

Hate fabric. Hate bodice. Hate waistline. Hate skirt. Shoes are maybe— no, hate them, too. If it’s below the head, I hate it. Blech!

  • travelingcat

Well I like the handbag… That’s all I’ve got, Out.

  • 3boysful

Is it me or does it seem like in an effort to be “innovative,” designers are constantly doing bad origami, whether or not the result is at all flattering ?  And then to add a very full, gathered skirt to the hard-edged folded bodice–why?

The stringy shoes offer no support, resulting in sore feet.  Which is ok here, cause girlfriend needs a pedi anyhow.

  • Lisa

I love the color, and I do admit I love the shimmer, but that’s about it.  It doesn’t fit her, and it’s a terribly unflattering shape.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_JSGAZPEESHQT47ATH55GNOHHBY Erin

I like the color, though I suspect you all (TLo) don’t.  It sets off her skin and hair beautifully.  However, the fabric is slick-shiny, the shoes look all wrong with it, and bitch, you’re rich, get a pedicure.  OUT.

  • Beth G

Love her bag.  The dress looks like a balloon pre-blowup.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

OUT. She looks inside out, as in that dress looks like internal organs.

  • http://twitter.com/Elizabethann1 Elizabeth Denton

In, I would kill for that dress. Although it needs dark heels and punk accessories to edge it up.

  • littlemac8

Her makeup is lovely; that hair, however, looks fried and unhealthy and therefore unattractive.  I think the dress could work in a lighter fabric but I think this would be too bulky on most couches because it’s so hard to shape (hence no waist on poor Anna here).  The sandals do not have an outfit they would look good with (now there’s a sentence).  OUT

  • LuluBI

You are right, of course. Terrible color and fit. Much cuter on the model, with a little edge, but that pink will never have edge. Oooouuutttt!

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I have to disagree – - a rarity  – and sayI give her an “IN.’ I think she looks fresh and pretty. Maybe it’s just grading on a curve but after the last few looks I feel like she did a great job.

  • demidaemon

I agree about the face and make-up. I do like this color better than the runway version, but that’s damning with faint praise. OUT.

  • PeaceBang

OUT! OUCH! Everything! The dress pains me. The shoes … are unspeakable. The hair! Matted! The stance, ultra bizarre! Bridget, my smelling salts!

  • Jangle57

No sorry, I can’t help you with a defense for this.  Hate the dress – what is that fabric?  Something left over from the 60s?  And don’t even get me started on the shoes….   Hair, makeup and clutch are good though.  OUT

  • tonibaloney

Ugh, she’s just not talented at wearing clothes and posing. I don’t know what the issue is, but she can just ruin a dress. That said, I think this dress’s days were numbered already. This fabric looks so heavy, and the weird boob-darting just is not flattering.

  • sleepycat

Out, but I think if the fabric was way lighter, this could have worked.

  • Susan Crawford

I liked the look of the top of this dress, but a scroll-down turned it to an emphatic OUT. I think it’s something to do with the proportion of the dress as a whole as well as a waist that seems nowhere near Ms. Kendricks’s actual waistline. It’s also too damned short! The clutch is meh, and those shoes look like they are squeezing her feet something fierce. Her poor little pinky toes look tortured!

Also – just a question – what is with the camera angle of so many red carpet or photo calls these days? It makes the celebs all look as though they are three feet tall with gigantic bobble heads. Most unflattering, photogs! I realize the photographers are herded into confined spaces for the pose and step, but there MUST be a better way to position them and provide them with a better angle. It’s depressing to see all the pretty people in their fancy duds looking like Shrinky Dink Critters!

    • mhleta

I’ve noticed that with the camera angle too. It makes them look like The Dog, (ie “Little body, big head, The Dog. ‘Nuff said.) It might be from photogs having to hold the camera over their heads to shoot around the front row of the media cluster fuck. I’ve heard that’s what they call it. A cluster fuck.

  • NCDFan

It looks like a first home ec effort. OUT

  • http://www.facebook.com/xrockerchique Elyssa Finkelstein

IN  – Improvements could be made by adding a belt and a different pair of shoes, but the dress looks fantastic on her and her makeup and hair are divine.

  • ccm800

In – By no means way in. The right belt could save the whole thing. I don;t mind the shape pone bit the proportions are not bad. Its demure and the color works on her pale complexion. Would it be better at a holiday party? No doubt. I like the repeat of the stripe of the box/bag with the stripe of her shoe – not overkill and the interesting neck/bodice keeps it from boring. Its pretty and not at all slutty which is always a little welcome, downright rebellious in contrast to so many young starlets of the saran wrap and short set. I like it and it suits her cute persona.

  • funkypeanut

Honey, honey, honey! Boob pleats? Really?

  • RzYoung

OUT. Such a shame because her make-up, hair and earrings are gorgeous. I feel sad for these stars because they obviously don’t have the confidence to tell their stylist that the outfit is AWFUL.

  • AuntieAnonny

    This is horrible, OUT.

  • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

woah dude… OUT. couldnt be out’er if she tried.
on the model, its at least not tacky-glittery-pink.

well, her clutch is nice? and i like the colour of her hair, even if it really clashes with her dress?

    out out out out.

  • mhleta

Here’s what I think. I think there’s a movement afoot in Hollywood to hit publicity events looking utterly vile in order to get a mention in this blog. There’s simply no other explanation.

    • mhleta

I’m going to amend this to say, this dress in a different fabric and style wouldn’t be bad on her. I don’t mind the shape and I think the boob pleats could be less offensive in a different fabric. She’s awful cute.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I think it’s the fabric that makes it look so strange, it is very reptilian.  From the neck up, she’s looks lovely.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

Nasty fabric in a really bad color. One positive note is that it has a real hem and not one of those messy “balloon” things on it.
    But it’s still OUT!

  • http://twitter.com/Wint3rhart Winterhart

IN.  I think that the folded neckline does unkind things to her boobs and would be better worn by someone without any, but overall she looks fresh and pretty.

However – I would have to desperately stifle the urge to untangle the straps on those sandals.

  • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

Did she dye her hair some newly awful orange color, or is it the lighting/wrapping paper dress/background that’s making it look that way?

  • Le_Sigh

No.  No no no.  Too many rando elements, also wrong girl to pull any of it off.

    OUT.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/FEP56YB4DUIXBWSLIMSSSGQHWY jimmack

She is one pretty gal. But what exactly is that fabric? Resort wear on the red carpet. Seriously? Well, it is a kid’s movie anyway.
Where do you get a clutch that looks like a brick for Liberace’s  house?

  • miagain

It’s a bit too shiny, and a bit too big…

  • VicksieDo

OUT.  Too shiny, heavy.  Shoes looks so painful and they’re unflattering to her foot also!

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

If she’s headed to her Junior Prom, great.  If not, OUT.

  • PeggyOC

     Out.

    I thought Barbie, too!  OUT.

  • Ruth Preston

The people at the funeral home are gonna be pissed when they find out someone stole the lining from casket option #24, “Heavenly Princess.” Actually I love the shoes, but would it have killed you to put some color on those toenails, Pooh Bear?

  • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

OUT!  But love her hair & makeup.

  • EEKstl

Crazily enough…IN! I think she looks terrific down to the ankles (yes, the shoes are a horror).  The color is great on her, I like the neckline and I think she’s working the hell out of it.  Heck, I don’t even mind the shiny in this case.

  • http://janeaustensworld.wordpress.com/ Vic

Yes, shoes like that splay out the toes. Not attractive. I don’t like the fabric of the dress, which makes it (and her) look heavy.

  • BazoDee

OUT. And I don’t love her make-up -her blush goes up to the highlight zone and is distracting.

  • piecesofconfetti

IN. I like the dress, but hate the shoes.

  • AthenaJ

Who picked this outfit, the Easter Bunny? Ugh, OUT!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=713709401 Randy Noak

OUT. It looks like something the GLEE kids would wear to regionals.

  • Tamara Hogan

I think the dress would be great with a pencil skirt. Too much fabric.

Those shoes fit poorly. Her poor big toe.

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Out. The color’s right, but nothing else.

  • DaveinAlamitosBeach

Oh Fritzi, you’ll always have a place in my heart.  Your makeup is terrific and your hair is nice too.  I even like the color of the dress.  I just don’t like the fabric of the dress and the design seems wrong for a, well, shorter person.  BUT I realize that some of the goofy fit is caused by the way you’re posing.  Stop putting your hand on your waste and pulling down one side of your dress.

  • HobbitGirl

I think the shape of the dress is actually quite cute, but that is ALL the wrong fabric for it. It looks like plastic Barbie nonsense and is unforgivably stiff. And those shoes are WRETCHED. Out, but if that dress were a cute lightweight cotton, I’d buy it.

  • julnyes

I think her makeup is lovely, but all else points to an OUT.

  • belfebe

Proyect Runway project gone wrong.  Looks cheap to me, and poorly tailored.  Nice color though.

  • Ksagun13

I liked the shoes in the full-body shots, but up close they do look ill-fitting and painful.  The dress fabric looks heavy and too shiny, and I hate the way the crease starts right at her nipples.

Her hair and makeup, however, are fresh and lovely.  Sadly, OUT.

  • turtleemily

Out… She’s smiling like she’s in pain. But at least it’s not flesh-tone with silly putty pumps?

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

Those shoes look uncomfortable and too small, but overall, I think she looks cute. IN!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=688150598 Elizabeth Siegel

Super out! That color is terrible!

Out. Judy Jetson wants her dress back.
