Sharon Stone’s Little Black Dress

Posted on July 26, 2012

After unleashing her nipples on Paris, Sharon has opted for something a little more demure for meeting the Secretary of State. Well. Demure for Sharon Stone, that is.

Sharon Stone attends The Human Rights Campaign, The Global Equality Fund and The Elton John AIDS Foundation Honor Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sir Elton John at a Private Residence in Washington, DC.

Hmm. We don’t know, kittens. It works for her and it’s kind of a sharp dress in its own way, even if it is a little simple and shapeless. But the accessories seem like really weird choices. In fact, the more we look at it, the more puzzled we are. Like we said, the dress is rather simple, but then she paired it with really showy shoes and earrings and finished it off with a bag so bland it’s invisible. We like the way she looks generally but the detailing is really odd.

It is a very nice outfit, but I think it is WAY to casual for the event.

    • deathandthestrawberry

Yes. That is exactly what I was going to say. The hair isn’t helping. She looks like she just dashed over from her workout after a quick shower.

      • You know she picked this so she could give a good cootchie shot when she crosses her legs at the round table

  • StellaZafella

Feet and face…that’s all she wants you to notice.

    • lovelyivy

It’s what I noticed. Whoever is doing her face is a star. She looks really well-preserved instead of desperate and stretched.

And those shoes give some slightly unflattering volume to her ankles, but are still to die.

    • Anne Lucchesi

Oh and she is killing it in both departments. Face is all I saw. And YOWZA.

  • AmandaCathleen

I agree. The detailing kills this for me. The dress is sharp, but the shoes, bag, and bedhead make this an OUT (if we were voting). 😉

    • I literally hate the bag with every little fiber of my being. It is so ugly.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

You know she picked this so she could give a good cootchie shot when she crosses her legs at the round table discussion.

  • call_me_schmeg

    her hair? i don’t even…

    • lovelyivy

       It looks…. crispy.

  • Did she run here?  What’s with the hair?

  • kimmeister

The shoes are terrible and create cankles.

  • RebeccaKW

Those earrings get lost in her hair.  And the hair is sad.  The dress isn’t bad, but it’s not great.  But I hate the shoes.

ETA: At least it’s zipped up past her breasts.

  • Her face is beautiful, but those shoes are awful and the dress is just sort of meh.

  • BazoDee

    Not flattering at all.

  • Ooh, I kind of want that dress. Not those shoes though. I hate the shoes and all shoes like them. WHO THOUGHT ANKLE CUFFS WERE A GOOD IDEA?!?

    • turtleemily

You should Google “JS Roundhouse Mid Handcuffs.”

      • amf0001

I just did and that is in very questionable taste…  I don’t know what adidas was thinking but to make them orange,  the color of prison garb… even purple would have been better…  just weird!
        (and thanks for the info!)

  • Oh dear. The hair and makeup are tragic. She has lovely skin; she should go for dewy, not cakey.

  • Melody McFarland

People, give me a break. She looks fabulous. I hope I look that shitty when I’m her age.

    • julnyes

I think people are all expressing the fact that she is gorgeous, but the styling is off. Those ideas aren’t mutually exclusive.

Personally I love the dress and the earrings would be great away from her hair. The shoes are hideous and the hairstyle is too casual for the event.

  • How does she look so good and not full of plastic?  Is there a portrait of herself in her attic that is aging badly?

    • ms_kat

I don’t know, but if we slash the portrait and she dies will we only be able to identify her by her bags?

  • Seems very 80s, and if you not only lived through the 80s but also were a star of many B movies during the decade it seems like you should reign in the nostalgia

    • Kayceed

If you truly meant reign I completely agree – not much of an actress, but whatta star!

  • NDC_IPCentral

The hair!  And I think the shape of the dress is doing her (and probably would do likewise on others) no favors.

  • Stefanos Mantyla

    Does nothing for her.

  • TomBord

the ankle bondage platforms are pretty tacky.

  • Her hair is terrible..she looks like she ran out of the hotel with it wet and went to the venue in a convertible..

  • VicksieDo

She looks gorgeous and sane, and that’s good.

  • mjude

i love sharon, i think she looks good BUT i do not like those shoes.

  • AthenaJ

That bag is so invisible I didn’t even see it until you guys mentioned it.

  • AthenaJ

That bag is so invisible I didn’t even see it until you guys mentioned it.

  • H3ff

She looks like Hillary Clinton’s trashier younger sister, who still refers to herself as a party girl.

    • Judy_J

    • formerlyAnon

Hit the nail on the head.

  • NurseEllen

Now, if she had carried the leopard print bag she was using in Paris with THIS outfit, it would have been a great choice!  Alas…

Hate the shoes with every ounce of shoe hate I’ve ever had.

She looks pretty amazing for her age, which is 54.

  • It’s like she’s going to the banquet at IML.

  • Introspective

this somehow feels elegant and tacky at the same time.

  • j_anson

I would love this if it had shape, honestly.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

i prefer my sharon stone all cracked out, with nipppppples, thank you!

  • Scarlet39

Her face looks fantastic.  Everything else is tragic.  Well, maybe not tragic, but it’s definitely not working.

  • I didn’t even realize she was holding a bag until TLo pointed it out.

  • TheOriginalLulu

First things first: This woman is in her 50s and looks like THAT! It’s not fair!

Okay, so the outfit. I would have been ok with this had she worn some cute shoes. Those things are ugly.

  • EEKstl

I’d say more but I’m too distracted by what’s going on underneith her eyes…

  • SapphoPoet

I would love this outfit for some other more casual occasion. She looks great, but missed the mark.

    • Flooby

Completely restyled- flat sandals etc this dress would be great for a California dinner party- outdoors under the sunset.  Or maybe a trip to the local waterfront.  But to meet the secretary of state?  Totally inappropriate.

    • Amy Ellinger

Agreed, Sappho.  Super cute, and the youngest/freshest she’s looked in a long time. But, yeah, shoulda brought out the classy glam.

  • Jillaine13

It’s way too casual for something honoring the Sec. of State & Sir Elton.  The word ‘Honor’ should have tipped her fashion sensor.  First – put the hair up, it will instantly class up the look, a pair of killer sandals instead of the bondages, colorful shiny clutch and maybe even a belt.  Could’ve been a contenda’.

  • frannyprof

Her shoes anger me in ways I can’t express. A thick ankle strap is NEVER a good idea. On anyone.

  • onyxkatze

    Half gym, half gyno appointment.
    Makeup looks pretty good, though.

  • Anathema_Device

I agree the earrings are all wrong for this, but it is a really cute look. Maybe too casual for the occasion, but it *is* at someone’s house, which might make it okay?

  • CatherineRhodes

Can we pretend it’s an in or out post? OUT.

  • She looks like she’s thinking – “go un, unzip it, you know you want to”.

  • I loathe those shoes.

  • filmcricket

The shoes are terrible, her hair is horrendous, and she’s carrying a tensor bandage in bag form. Her face and legs, though, are stunning, so well-done Ms. Stone and your trainer/make-up artist/cosmetic surgeon.

I have to get over my general disdain for her to judge her outfit without any bias. Okayheregoes…

    …I can’t. I hate it.

  • Hair and shoes are awful

  • Shay Shay looks good, but I can’t with that bag.

  • AudreysMom

I spent 7th grade worrying that someone would walk up and pull the front length zipper on my shift all the way down, revealing my breasts buds and underwear. Somehow I don’t think this was Sharon Stone’s fear. Maybe more like her hope.

  • quiltrx

Love that the length leaves everyone with the possibility that she just might do the ‘Fatal Attraction’ thing. 🙂

  • MilaXX

Somebody had some really good work done. She looks good,  but I still can’t help but feel this is a little too young for her. I dpn’t like the bag at all.

  • guest2visits

She looks good, except the chunky shoes kind of ruin the whole thing. Those ankle cuffs just shorten her legs and they probably
have a limited range before they signal authorities she’s on the loose.
The little bag should be a nicer clutch, the shoes could be a bit more sophisticated, to ‘up’ the look of the dress.

  • KathKo

hate hate absolutely hate the shoes.
That’s my thought every time I see that kind of shoes. Too heavy around the ankle.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

the purse is stupid but she looks great. it’s great to see someone look appropriate in fabulous, anti-age appropriate garments at an age coming up way too soon for me, for all of really, which i totally dread. i like the shoes too. i think that if one can look good in three inch wide ankle straps–details elsewise of visible visual torture on just about everyone–then, you know, go right ahead & wear them.

    edited for grammar.

  • PrunellaV

I’ve always thought Stone should play Hillary in the inevitable biopic.

  • nancylee61

Her hair looks filthy and undone. Although we blondes have a very hard time getting our hair to look and stay great looking since it is so fine.

  • Laylalola

No. She’s in her mid-50s right? From head to toe this whole look is so … forced or fake or just wrong somehow.

  • I will say her hair may look a little scraggly & 80’s, but her face is gorgeous.  The dress is doing her no favors.  The zipper is an odd length and there is just no shape.  The shoes need to find the nearest trash can and deposit themselves.

  • boomchicabowwow

I agree that it looks to casual for the event, but I think she looks adorable, and that’s not an adjective I’d usually employ with regard to Ms. Stone.  The fit is perfect, snug enough to show everything off, loose enough to look comfortable and age appropriate.  She should give Heidi Klum a tutorial.

  • Dan_In_NYC

Her face and body in the first pic are downright stunning.  As for the hair, dress and accessories, I’m not sold.  In particular, I am very ready for this super visible zipper moment to pass.

All that said, her not looking overall batshit crazy qualifies as a victory.

  • KSpence

Hair. Bad. Bad bad. BAD HAIR.

  • She’s getting too old to show her knees in garments this short.  She might have a pretty face but hands and feet and other such intersections start to break down and don’t do you any favors when you’re on the RC. Those shoes look some kind of bomb is strapped to each foot.  Why didn’t security catch this?!

  • Shoes are too hoochie. Needed smart little boots I think, for that complete 60s go-go look. Which works for her when she tries it, usually.

  • sashaychante

Shoes and bag have to go.  The dress itself is pretty cute on her.

  • jcolli69

That bag looks out of place, but I love the shoe choice! And at least she unzipped the zipper demure-ly.

  • Her hair hurts my feelings.

  • I usually hate when women dress too young for their age, but have to say, she is pulling it off and looks great. Makes me sit up a little straighter at my computer. WERQ it, girl!

  • Not a fan of shoes with that band around ankle! I don’t care how tall one is they shorten the leg…not a good move on anyone in the spotlight of TL!

  • Lisa Kramp

Her face looks great and I’d love the casual hair if the dress had been severely tailored. You go to DC to meet the big boys, you fuckin’ wear a suit or a tailored dress and serious shoes. And you weren’t lying about the bag…I read to the bottom and went, “What bag?”
