Robert Pattinson for Blackbook Magazine

Posted on July 23, 2012

Darlings, here is Robert Pattinson. He is in those Twilight movies. Even though the culture seems to have moved on from all things Twilight and embraced their stories about hungry children killing each other and also lady porn that used to be Twilight fanfic, there is still one more Twilight movie being thrust upon us. That is why Robert Pattinson is on the cover and also the inside of Black Book magazine.

You didn’t think it was because of that movie with Reese Witherspoon and the elephant, did you?

Robert Pattinson covers the September 2012 issue of BlackBook magazine photographed by Autumn De Wilde in Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale, CA.

The boy takes a good picture, and there’s no doubt he looks good in a t-shirt, but … yeah. That’s about it.Not a lot to talk about from a style perspective.

Anyway, those were some pictures of Robert Pattinson. He is in those Twilight movies.

I think this is the best he’s looked. He looks good filled out a little, too.

  • siao

Are those tattoos real? They seem sort of… odd.
Nonetheless, I find myself so attracted to him, despite the Twilight affiliation.

    • amf0001

You are right –  the tattoos are not real,  just drawn on… and they look it too…

    • Fordzo

I’m finding him really attractive here, too.  Might be PMS.

    • HM3

Er…does he have a tattoo on his arm called “Arm?” I wonder what other body parts needed remembrance.

    • Melissa Brogan

That’s what I was wondering, too. Terrible.

    • andreawey

I know, I was going to say what’s with the sharpie covered arms, he looks like a douche…..

  • shirab

Are those his for reals tattoos? I don’t think I’ve seen his arms so marked up before. Is it just for the shoot? Hope so because ew, they’re gross.

    • Amy Griner

The tattoos look suspiciously like Sharpie skin art to me.  Not that I have any experience with Sharpie skin art; and I certainly never spent high school study hall bored out of my head and doodling all over whatever exposed skin I could reach…

    • Little_Olive

And the one on his right inner arm says “Arm”, no? Was he pranked by the production team?

      • formerlyAnon

Looks more like he was entertaining himself. Awful lot of “tats” on the arm he can reach with his dominant hand. One on the other arm.

        • fursa_saida

Definitely drawn on, to look at them. And what young actor who doesn’t want a career as Mickey Rourke’s younger self would tattoo x’s and o’s all over his knuckles? No chance.

        • Little_Olive

I meant, like they suggest he needs a reminder of the names of his body parts… anyway, not cute.

Oh and the thumbnail also looks like he might have been entertaining himself

  • Barbara Guttman

Thankfully his jaw seems to be filling out.  There were way too many extra bones and corners in it before.  Who needs fangs when the bottom of your head is a heptagon?

  • Super_Red

These are possibly the worst pictures of him I’ve ever seen. I refuse to watch anything Twilight, but he’s always been a generally attractive fellow. These pictures make me cringe for him.

  • LaVonne Ellis

I see no life behind those eyes. Perfect for a vampire — or a serial killer. Too bad he can’t act.

    • pink_lady114

He’s great in that Cronenberg movie.  I wasn’t too impressed with the casting, but I trust Cronnenberg and yeah the boy can act.

    • Cassie

I think it’s possible he might go flat because he hates his character so much. Have you ever heard him talk about Edward? It’s hilarious.

      • lovelyivy

I admit that the reason I enjoyed the Twilight films is the fact that many times throughout the film it was crystal clear that both he and KStew found their characters and dialogue to be outrageously stupid. There were several points where i cracked up solely due to his pained expression (certainly not due to the plot or characters) before he said something egregiously stupid (soooo many times).

    • sherrietee

He can act when it is actually good writing.  There’s only so much you can do with Twilight.  I just got around to watching the last one so that I could write the rules of the drinking game for my MST3K party.  That shit was hysterically funny.  I’m pretty sure it wasn’t meant to be, but man I laughed.

      • Maria Rosenfire

Girlfriend, I want to be at your parties.

    • Gwen Chadwick

I think Rob’s done a great job over the years of grounding Edward into a high-school setting and making him seem like a young boy, who struggles with being a vampire. Personally, I thought Stephenie Meyer was way too harsh on Edward in the books and tried to present him as a stoic ‘Heathcliff’ figure; she seemed more fond of Jacob, which I don’t get at all.

I mean… Kristen insisted that Rob should absolutely be cast in the role. The director said that he had the perfect ‘Edward’ look and chemistry with Kristen. Rob said that his “pained” audition stood out amongst other actors who auditioned. If there’s a weak point to the movies, I’d say it’s the scripts, which do an average-at-best job of adapting the books.

      • Amelia Logan

The dialogue in the books is taken from the books. I don’t know how they could have improved it short of rewriting the story.

  • DinaSews

    Is there a ‘leg’ tattoo?

  • elemspbee

Now that the twilight series is done shooting, i think they let this guy eat again.

  • Rebecca Johnson

He will always be adorable little Cedric Diggory to me.

    • Kristin McNamara

      so true. same here.

    • blondie65

Me too…but that was back when he smiled (and shaved…)

      • lovelyivy

… and bathed judging by these.

    • Toto Maya

He looked so GOOD as Cedric. I see pictures now and think, what happened?

  • claudemtl777

the best i’ve seen him look…The Cronenberg movie made me start liking him, this makes me like him more.

  • Spicytomato1

Thank you. Love him. Unlike other hipster wanna bes (I’m looking at you Darren Criss), he wears the yellow pants without any hint of try hard self-consciousness. In fact he is way more “I don’t give a s%^#” than “try hard,” which is precisely why I love him so. Also, love the effortless cool of the retro-y, argyle-y polo. *Swoon*

  • Kiltdntiltd

(whew, boy am I glad to get that out of my system)

    • TropiCarla

The plaid jacket photo is the only virtuous thing here.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

i will duel you for it, to the death.  either a swordfight or beard growing battle, you choose.

      • Kiltdntiltd

Sigh. Must it always come to this?  Violence?  lol
We can do the beard growing competition, then.

        • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

violence for plaid.  that is a great 80’s band name.  and just in case you want to pull something sneaky and bring in some bearded buddies, i will use my lifeline on future finn from otakon.  he doesn’t know it yet but he’s going to marry me.

          • Kiltdntiltd

What? You’re abandoning me for some ne’er do well?  I am shocked and appalled. You’re all alike. Harumph.

    • kimmeister

It’s fantastic, but might it not clash with your kilts?

      • Kiltdntiltd

I have several that I’ve made that are in solid colors, and a cranberry corduroy one from Utilikilts that would look smashing with it.

        • LeoBloke

Kiltdntiltd, I think I’d like nothing more than to see YOU on Project Runway…it sounds as you have the know-how, and all us BK’s know you have taste and wit. Please?

          • Kiltdntiltd

Leo, Thanks so much for those compliments!  The one other quality I have, is sense enough to stay FAR away from something that insane.

          • LeoBloke

Oh, well, too bad. You’re in S.F. and I’m in Philly, and likely we’ll never meet, but I just wanted to tell you (in a non-stalkerish way) how much I love your wit, warmth and insight!

          • Kiltdntiltd

And I am truly flattered. You’re very kind to say so. You’re making this jaded queer, blush. Thanks so much, LeoBloke!

  • Gayer Than Thou

I so don’t get it with this one.  Granted, he’s not my type, but I am just blind to the appeal here.

    • PaulaBerman

I don’t see it either. He looks like someone whose feet smell. No thanks.

      • Gayer Than Thou

Like someone whose feet smell and who thinks he’s hot enough that you’ll overlook it.

        • PaulaBerman

He always looks so half assed, like grooming is too much effort, and probably also regular showering. That may be totally off base, but that’s how he LOOKS to me. Maybe you have to be a tweener who likes bad fiction to get the attraction?

        • Amelia Logan

Ew I know that person. :(

    • MilaXX

agreed. He always looks like the great unwashed to me.

    • Heather

I agree. He’s repulsive. And that pic of him in the yellow pants, where we’re looking right into his … bits, is just gross.

    • Alisa Rivera

He’s really damned funny in interviews. The still photos don’t capture it. You have to hear him to get the appeal.

    • lovelyivy

It’s hard to like someone who appears to be both genetically blessed and ungrateful for the fact. When he is clean and shaved he’s quite handsome IMO. It just so happens that ‘clean’ does not appear to be his thing, which is a deal breaker.

  • AuntieAnonny

Stupid non-important question:  Are those tattoos real?

    Also, hello crotch.

  • formerlyAnon

That first plaid shirt is the only thing of note, here.

    • Fibercrazed

I agree. That article was awful. And, frankly, made him seem like an entitled, apathetic prick. He seems a bit more personable in interviews.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Enh. I’ll never get why millions of girls lose their collective shit over this one.

  • siriuslover

He does look very good here. Glad he got rid of that huge haircut he was sporting for awhile. And I shall always remember him as Cedric Diggory, the boy who died, until the time when he is involved in another movie that actually has some worth.

    • Gwen Chadwick

I’ve personally never understood the Harry Potter hype. I can see why younger generations would like it, but the fan / franchise wars were ridiculously immature.

      • siriuslover

I prefer him as Cedric, because his LOOK was better. Less pale, not gaunt, and better hair. I can’t speak about the Twilight series (or the fan wars for that matter) because I’ve never read the series nor have I seen the films. But Harry Potter as a book series is a defining series for an age with a universal theme of love and brotherhood. Now let’s rip some dresses!

  • janetjb

He looks better with a little flesh in his face.

(The same thing could be said for many a celebrity)

  • Gabriella M

The thumbnail has too much R. Patterson crotch in it.

  • Jessica O’Connell

He’s so…boring though. I mean, I expect pictures of men to typically be a little bland in styling but his facial expression looks so vacant to me. Maybe it’s my dislike of him for his involvement in those Twilight movies but I just…ick. I just…just ick.

And also the porn that started as Twilight fanfiction? double ick.

  • pugluv

But to be fair to Robert Pattinson….He is in David Cronenberg’s movie Cosmopolis that was at Cannes and his acting received some great reviews, even from critics who did not like the movie…a long standing ovation at Cannes and a couple of upcoming projects with some great Indie directors give him some street credit….

And he looks sexy in those pictures, no doubt the man gives great face….

  • MandyJane

I don’t find him attractive at all.

  • BazoDee

How I can be turned off and on at the same time? He looks gross yet hot here. Weird.
Too bad the arm ink ins’t real -I love the sleeve of ink look a la Becks and Levine.

    • out for a walk

Eh, the gross/hot makes sense to me. Sort of like Aaron Paul in Breaking Bad. I do like the fake tattoos, and personally think Arm is pretty funny.

      • BazoDee

I do too. Or I might be biased because that’s just the shot I like the best. Love that sweater.

  • PinkLemon

“ARM” on the arm?? really?? moronic.

  • elisaa74

If you remove him from Twilight, he’s actually a good actor. I mean, he is lead in Cronenberg movie, and got great reviews and cronenberg obviously impressed with his performance cause he offered him a role in his next project with Viggo Idk, I think he using their career status really  wisely.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I’ll have to see this to judge, because thus far, his acting has been sub-par (IMO)

    • Gwen Chadwick

I’ve always thought Rob was the best part of the Twilight movies. He has an endearing charm about him that makes me understand the appeal of Edward, plus I think his chemistry with Kristen strengthens scenes with weak scriptwriting. Taylor Lautner on the other hand, I don’t get the appeal at all, and I loathe the character he plays in it.

I think Rob has stopped Edward from appearing as a cold / controlling guy, which could’ve been the case with another actor, as the character was rather Heathcliff/Rochester-like in the books.

      • Ashley

I cannot like this post enough!

  • l3icest3r

Greasy poseurs are still a thing, I see.

  • Emily Smith

he does absolutely nothing for me.  never has.

  • SewingSiren

Yellow pants don’t look that bad with orange socks. Who knew?

  • Fordzo

    Are those tats real?

    • Lisa Dugan

  • Sandra Oh

i can’t help it … I LOVE HIM!!!!!!   I’m about 30 million years older then him but we don’t live in reality when it comes to Rob Pattinson!!!!  LOL.  OK, sorry.  back to work.

  • Little_Olive

Hey, at least they had him shower and wash his hair before the shoot. Apparently.

  • MilaXX

Love your descriptions of The Hunger Games & 50 Shades of Grey. At least the stylist made Rob bath before putting on fancy clothes and taking spics.

  • Christina Diaz

i’ve been to the moonlight rollerway a million times…that cover shot means he was laying down on the carpet.  *gag*
although considering he usually looks like personal hygiene is not much of a priority, maybe the carpet was still cleaner than his hair.

  • Ali

I don’t find him physically attractive at all, but he seems like great fun. He’s someone I’d love to pal around with, with a good sense of humor. His music isn’t bad either.

  • plinkiedoodle

The tattoos are not real, thank the stars above, because they are truly hideous.

  • afabulous50

    He needs a bath.

  • VicksieDo

If those tatts are real, they are BAD.  If not, they just look like dirt.

  • T.

hey T-Lo this is actually not for those twilight movies or the elephant movie that came out a year ago it from David cronenberg’s Cosmopolis which hits US theaters in the Fall.

  • Judy_J

    What’s with the jailhouse tattoos?

  • 14a

I’m a fan of the yellow pants photo. Everything else can be thrown in the garbage. He just looks like a little apathetic schoolboy.

    …and apparently that’s what I’m attracted to.

  • Vaniljekjeks

Wow… I have rolled my eyes at him in the past, and I don’t know if it’s the good photographer, or the tight tee shirts, but he just does it for me here.

  • Katia Teixeira

Yes, he was in the twilight movies, he was also in Remember Me, he was in Water for Elephants, he was in Bel Ami, he was in Cosmopolis directed by Cronenberg in wich he and the film are recieving raving reviews (mostly him), his next projects are Mission Blacklist directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, The Rover directed by David Michod’s, and he has 4 other projects in the works….Mr. Pattinson is going to be a busy boy for the next years. But I guess you didn’t even bother to informe you about anything Rob…because, you know we was in those twilight movies.

  • Katia Teixeira

Oh, yeah, but what do you know…you’re just fashion bloggers

    • Tom and Lorenzo

And you’re just a humorless fangurl.

  • Elizabeth Siegel

Does he really have a tattoo on his arm that says “arm?”

  • Violina23

I NEVER found him attractive. Even when he was just Cedric in the Harry Potter movies.  He just comes across too douchey and full of himself for me.

  • MinasAunt

Don’t understand why he’s considered attractive.  Looks like a hipster version of Lurch.

  • Shawn EH

I feel like I’m getting very familiar with RP’s ‘taint in these shots.

  • Alice Wilson

When did he get all the hipster tattoos?

  • Sarah Adams

How do people find this man attractive? All I can see is semi-washed, self-satisfied drug addict. The kind with a trust fund so he can buy all the drugs he wants and go to rehab a thousand times instead of jail. (I have no idea if RPat is actually like that in person, but that’s the vibe he gives off with his smug smile and puffy eyes.)

  • P. Capet

yellow and orange and brown, i’m diggin’ those leafy fall colors!

  • jimmack

Douche fashion. Very department store. Move on. Nothing to see here. By the way, I like the “Water for Elephants” movie. Perhaps it was because I was stuck in a plane circling Chicago while watching it.

  • veronkimo

I don’t mean to offend y’all, but was this posted just to get some hits for the blog… I mean y’all did write Twilight 5 times…. Maybe I’m just paranoid.

  • kikisayshi

  • guest2visits

I hope this is a movie; he looks great for the part! I thought this was a completely different look for him, it’s good.
    Except for the tattoos.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

he doesnt really have a tattoo that says arm, does he? not really, it’s just something they wrote on him in magic marker, right?

    • ConnieBV

They’re fake, sharpie. Said so in some article, thank God.

  • Gwen Chadwick

I love the color contrasts in these pics. It adds a different tone (mood) to each pic. Cool photoshoot.
I think it’s interesting how opinions on a franchise on ‘Twilight’ are so divided. It’s similar to Nolan’s Batman, as in there are extreme fans who’ll support it to the end, then there are others who just don’t understand the hype. I remember when Rob said that there was a campaign against him when he was first cast as Edward. That’s how seriously people felt about it. Just like the backlash on the two male leads of ‘The Hunger Games.’
Just goes to show that something can start out as popular, then it’s subjected to ridicule the longer it stays popular.

  • Toto Maya

    Nope. Still gross.

  • HobbitGirl

See Robert Pattinson. See Robert Pattinson’s crotch. Run away.

  • Premal Laxman

I’m still trying to figure out his ironic “Arm” tattoo
