Kirsten Dunst in NYC

Posted on July 09, 2012

Kudos to Miss Kiki for looking so cute in the midst of a bitch of a heat wave.

Dolce&Gabbana Miss Sicily Crochet Bag

Honestly, that almost looks like too much effort just to please bitchy bloggers like us. We would have given you a pass on a tank top and cutoffs this past week, hon.*

Like her recent Paris outfit, this is really cute, but looks kind of heavy for the weather, which, as we may have mentioned once or twice has been motherfucking HOT. That little Perrier bottle doesn’t appear to be doing the trick. Girl is looking flushed as hell. But hey, sometimes you have to suffer, both for beauty and to get free bags worth more than your car. So thank you, Kiki, for putting the effort in. Now go jump in a fountain or something. We’ll hold your bag.

*Almost certainly not true.

The sandals are a bit meh, but they don’t kill the cuteness she has going on. Poor girl does look like she’s melting a bit from this damned heatwave though...MayorMoney.blogspot.com

I think the style of it is super cute, but her skin is very pink, like I am (even when not in a heat wave) and I’ve learned to stay away from pinkish tones.  I think this would’ve been perfect in a blue/green/maybe even dark purple check.  But still, lots of points for looking cute in nasty weather.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

That is a perfect dress for the weather. I hate the bag but she looks great.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

It is an ugly bag, and way too heavy and widow weeds funeraly for summer.

    • AudreysMom

Agreed. Cool looking dress (in many ways) but the bag in black (even in straw) negates the summer look. I wonder if her hair is down for the cameras.

    • TieDye64

      Yeah, not digging the bag.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

I don’t think the dress looks heavy at all.   It looks cool and breezy.

  • dress_up_doll

Double-gimme! Love the summer frock and handbag. I think she looks super summery and stylish. The sandals are a bit meh, but they don’t kill the cuteness she has going on. Poor girl does look like she’s melting a bit from this damned heatwave though.

  • fringebenefit

There is nothing cooler on a hot summer’s day than a loose-fitting dress like this one. Full ventilation up and through. I cannot bear to wear pants–even shorts–during a scorcher.

    • Lilithcat

I so agree.  I can’t believe the folks who wear jeans or leggings in the heat.   But I suppose they keep the talcum powder manufacturers in business!

      • filmcricket

See, for me it’s skirts that require the talcum powder in the heat. Because I have three choices: walk like a line-backer, use talcum powder, or suffer the chafing inherent in the sticky-thigh walk, all of which can be avoided by wearing capris instead. (Although a friend did just put me on to that gel runners use to avoid chafing, which would be less messy & smelly and much easier to re-apply – gotta check that out.)

        • Jacqueline Wessel

          That’s why we have pettipants.

          • BrooklynBomber

Pettipants! Do they still exist? I’d forgotten all about those.

          • MrsJoe

I’ve totally got some light cotton ones that are loose and I loooove them in the summer.  Even with a skirt over them, usually cooler than shorts or capris.

          • littlemac8

OMG. D0ll, you carried me right back to the early 60″s.  We wore underpants under our nylon pettipants which actually made me HOTTER!

        • BuffaloBarbara

This.  The thought of walking around with nothing on my thighs (or something short enough to roll up leaving them with nothing) makes me wince.

          • mshesterp

So true.  I don’t have a lot of skirts or dresses, but when I think to wear them in the summer, I just get so sweaty and ick.  I like having a chafing barrier.  …That is a lot of information.

        • Sweetbetty

Some people (not me) have thighs that you can see air space between and they can get away with dresses and skirts in the summer with no fears of chafing.  I like the openness of a cool cotton dress or skirt on hot summer days but suffer from the dreaded thigh rub.  I found some long-legged lightweight cotton knit underpants at an Amish store in Lancaster, PA, and they have been my salvation.  I’d die if anyone ever saw them, but they are comfortable and absorbent and really do the trick.  I’ve also found them online at a company called Gold Violin but haven’t ordered yet (and I have no affiliation whatsoever).

  • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

I actually think that dress would be rather comfortable in the heat…IF it’s a cotton dress.  Otherwise stanky under-boob sweatage!

    • Spicytomato1

My thoughts, too. But its heaviness and droopiness seems to indicate it’s not cotton. Too bad.

      • Sweetbetty

I agree, it looks like it may be rayon, which wouldn’t be too bad.  I wonder if it’s a true vintage dress or just a contemporary dress made to look vintage.

  • hughman

I was expecting Toto to be peeking out of that shopping bag.

  • kimmeister

Cute dress, but it makes her boobs look like they wilted too.

  • CheriCPat

Did I miss who the dress is by? And, if she had her hair in a ponytail it would look completely fresh and cool.

  • SapphoPoet

This doesn’t look too heavy to me, although I’m no fan of gingham. She does look summery, if not cool. I can’t decide if the bag looks summery or not–the crochet aspect does, but the black does not. What is with all the heavy black bags everyone’s carrying? Haven’t they heard of straw?

  • lovelyivy

The fact that she can look so cute in unbearably hot whether highlights how pretty she really is. And this dress is the cutest! I’m way more interested in the dress than the Grandma handbag. I liked the dainty old lady bags at first, but I’m officially over it.

  • PinkLemon

i thought she was looking quite pink in her last post, too. maybe a sunburn?

    • NC_Meg

When I get even a little hot, my skin turns pink and then/or red. Kiki and I are both pale girls so I suspect that’s what’s going on with her.

  • mjude

FINALLY someone in clothes that match the friggin weather.  thank you kikik & thank you for NO suede.  also i think she looks adorable

Is everyone else getting girl-on-girl porn in the ads? Definitely NSFW!

    • SapphoPoet

Yes–glad it’s not just me. Although I work at home so doesn’t matter. But I was surprised.

    • MilaXX

No, well not unless you count commercials for The Real L Word.

  • formerlyAnon

Like much better than her Paris dress! Cute, purse is too heavy for the look, but whatta ya gonna do? Refuse to shill if the goods aren’t appropos?

  • MilaXX

i think that the perfect summer look. That dress doesn’t look as heavy to me as the one from last week. The bag might be a little more on the Fall side. but otherwise she looks pretty good.

  • nannypoo

Wow. I think that is one of the frumpiest dresses I have ever seen. I hate the sandals and the bag is butt ugly. She needs to put that stringy hair up in a ponytail. In fact, I don’t even like her sunglasses. I’m going to pour myself a margarita, and then maybe everything will look better.

    • carolie_king

I said it last week… She always looks straggly and moist to me, and this is more of the same.  Don’t really mind the clothes (other than maybe the sleeves), but she looks like she needs a shower.

  • marilyn

The bag is too formal for this look.  The check in the dress is not matched, so it looks like very bad home sewing from the depression.  Where are her anklets and Buster Brown shoes?  I realize the dress is very expensive, but honestly, it is a rag.  If she wants a job washing clothes by the stream, or doing housework for someone, she just needs to tie up her hair in a scarf and get to work. If this is fashion, all is lost.

  • ccinnc

I LOVE that dress, and her in it.  I want it – easy/breezy, as they say.

  • alyce1213

    “heavy for the weather”

Really?  Looks pretty light and summery from where I sit. I don’t love it, it’s a bit too washerwoman, but the real problem is her hair.  Girls needs better hair color, a good conditioning, and another application of sunscreen.

  • Little_Olive

Girl, get a bra measuring appointment.

Otherwise OK (although I’d preferred a color different from black in the shoes and bag).

  • Anathema_Device

Love that dress to death. I hate shorts in really hot weather. I’d much rather wear a light dress than something that clings to my body.

  • TomBord

Hoping there’s an anti-bag trend coming soon.

You ladies w/ your big bags…….. look like hi-maintain hags.

The bigger the bag the bigger the baggage.

  • birkatbaby

I don’t get what you guys think people should be wearing in a heat wave – this looks breezy and light to me, let alone the adorableness.

  • filmcricket

She is on my Irrational Hate List – I find her face to be exquisitely punchable – but that dress is super-cute. Agreed that the bag doesn’t really go and her hair would look good up off her neck, but the dress is fab.

  • granddelusion

She looks cute, but I do wish shed get her hair sorted out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/catherine.kronenwetter Catherine L Kronenwetter

I give her bonus points for looking like a normal human being without sinking into trailer park

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Kiki, Sophia Petrillo wants her purse back.

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

I would trade looking flushed with sweating bullets in the NE heat any f’ing day!

  • guest2visits

Very cute dress and bag. Kinda hate the sandals. I feel she needs to put her hair up in a cooler, less fussy do if it’s that steamy.
Can I just point out how much I hate the off the shoulder tops; no matter how hot it is (background).

  • HobbitGirl

If it’s a lightweight cotton, it’d be much nicer than denim. It looks comfy to me!

  • theafternoonknows

You know whose outfit looks kind of heavy for the weather? The woman in white walking the other direction behind her! Yowza. Long skirt and a long-sleeved shirt in what appears to be a heavy knit. I’m schwetty just looking at her in my air-conditioned living room.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

The heat is making me super bitchy, but I honestly don’t see a thing from her hair to her sandals that would look out of place on an 85 year old woman.  Matronly doesn’t cover it.

  • ccm800

so cute!!!!! Notheavy looking to me. Looks like a light cotton dress

  • understateddiva

    Gorgeous bag.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Something (well, a couple of things) in the look seems a bit saggy, which is probably the weather.  But kudos for giving gingham a go.  It’s nice and breathable.

And I’m bad at being a woman, apparently, because I couldn’t care less about the handbag.

  • TieDye64

No way in hell does this look “kind of heavy”. She’s wearing very lightweight gingham. What more do you boys want? She looks perfect. I’m super pale and my skin flushes like that when i’m hot…all the time. She looks fab.

  • RzYoung

    Supersupercute!

  • Aurumgirl

She looks cool and fresh to me!  But the black handbag and sandals are really too heavy for that dress.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4LKFPGVGDTEH3NLK7UPJCOT6XQ Tami

The cut on that bodice where it attaches to the skirt is giving me the twitches. Did she run this up herself? I know, it probably cost thousands of dollars, but Mother of God, that looks poorly made. Just speaking as a sewing gal here.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/FEP56YB4DUIXBWSLIMSSSGQHWY jimmack

The purse looks soooooooooooo non-summer. But she looks cute. And thank god, she did not resort to flip flops. America please take note: Flip flops are for at home or at beach only. You can trust me on that.

  • Nancy Karpen

The dress looks perfect for the hot weather. Loose and cool.

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

With Emma stealing her Spider-Man spotlight, it’s important to look effortless right now. Of course everyone forgets that Bryce Dallas already played Gwen Stacy.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I don’t think it looks too heavy.  That dress looks like a simple cotton shirt – and a comfortable one at that.  That hand bag looks to be made of wicker, even though it is black and she’s got on the most comfortable cool shoes you could wear, outside of a flip flop or something.  Good for her for looking like the rest of us:  Wilted but Trying.

  • hellkell

The bag has Sophia from “Golden Girls” written all over it. “This one time in Sicily…”

  • Call me Bee

More than cute here, despite the heat.
BTW–since we get all the weather about 4 days before NYC gets it–we had our hot spell last week, and it broke on Sat.  The weather is perfect now–temps in the 80s with low humidity.    Something for you Yanks to look forward to…
