Jessica Alba in NYC (X2)

Posted on July 26, 2012

Jessica is a very busy woman, running all over New York, and she doesn’t have time for your silly picture-taking.

Let’s assess her.

Jessica Alba out and about in New York City in an Elle Lauri skirt paired with Ralph Lauren platform sandals.

Elle Lauri ‘Carrie’ Skirt

Ralph Lauren Collection Alannah Suede Platform Sandal

There’s one thing here that’s totally setting off our OCD but we’ll tell you the parts we like: practically everything. It’s a really cute look overall. That bag is a really unusual color choice to pair with that skirt, but it’s working for us. What’s bothering us are the proportions on the white tank top. It’s way too short. That’s just an odd place to put a line right across the body. If the skirt sat just a little lower and the top was just a little longer, this would be pretty much perfect as a “running around the city, getting my picture taken” getup.

Next slide please?

Jessica Alba heading to ‘The View’ studios in a Carolina Herrera dress.

This is adorable and chic at the same time. We never thought we’d say this, but Girl, your bunny dress is fabulous. The bag works even better here, although the size of it becomes more overwhelming with a dress like this. Don’t really love the choice of shoe though. They’re not awful, but they seem kind of … standard to us.

Especially that bag, I could look at that all day!

  • http://twitter.com/marieldrucker Marie Drucker

She seems to have another pair of shoes at the ready, in case we didn’t like the first.

    • littlemac8

Isn’t that grey bag a shoe bag???  And then there’s the pair the man servant is holding.  Did she change again for her appearance on The View??  Love the bunny dress except for the drab.dirty grey color, but I suspect it would be over the top twee in a brighter color.  I Cannot take that yellow.orange bag paired with the pencil yellow in her skirt!

I can’t decide if those bunnies are cute, or evil.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Bunnies aren’t just cute like everybody supposes,

They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses,

And whats with all the carrots?

What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

Bunnies, Bunnies, it must be bunnies!

      • Sobaika

        Or maybe midgets?

      • Vickiefantastico

Oh wow. So what level of nerd am I if I know exactly where that comes from and can sing the rest of the song right along with you?

        • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

It’s one of my favourite episodes. I know all the words to it, too.

My husband actually bought the soundtrack!

          • boomchicabowwow

OF COURSE there’s a soundtrack!  I just never stopped to think that there would be one.  ‘Scuse me, off to itunes…

        • lovelyivy

My theory: The same kind as me.

          • Violina23

            And me!

      • littlemac8

OK, Help me out…I don’t know the reference?

        • Vickiefantastico

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The musical episode. The character Anya sang it.

          • littlemac8

Thank you, thank you.  Thank you very much.

  • call_me_schmeg

completely unrelated: i don’t know why, but i love the way the doorman/bellhop dude is carrying that pair of shoes. it just keeps cracking me up. do you think they belong to jess?

    • dress_up_doll

I know! The rogue sandals are hilarious. Love how they’ve made it into every shot.

    • CozyCat

The rich are different from you and me…they have their own personal sandal handlers!

  • NurseEllen

So why is the chauffeur/handler/doorman/aide/whatever holding another pair of shoes?  The ones she’s wearing may indeed be “standard” but the ones he’s holding look rather clunky.
Can’t get with the bag with the first outfit, but it’s dynamite with the second.  I do love the color of those RL sandals!

    • sashaychante

I noticed the shoe guy too.  Like her bag isn’t large enough to carry the spares or what?  I guess if they are in the bag, they don’t get photographed and she can’t keep them…since she probably got them free.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ginny-Ellsworth/534496198 Ginny Ellsworth

Oh those? Those are his. Chauffeur/handler/doorman/aide/whatevers need to look stylin’ too.

    • bellafigura1

My theory is that those are her real shoes, and she changes in to the high shoes for the photo op from limo into hotel.  She just forgot to pop em in her bag, handed off to that cutie pie instead.

    • MilaXX

my guess is those are the car shoes. The ones she got out of the car wearing (because she knew paps would be there) are the ones she wore on the show.

  • j_anson

I’d say I’m becoming disenchanted with the notion of grown women wearing clothing with children’s pajama patterns, but that would imply I’d ever BEEN enchanted in the first place.

  • Sarah Dickerson

That bunny dress is hideous, right?  It’s not just me?

    • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

Maybe it’s the way it bunched up after she rose from the limo, but it looks more “frumpy” than “chic” to my eyes. Shouldn’t bunnies be fun and cute? These ones frolic on a dress–and in colors–that seems remarkably old-fashioned.

    • filmcricket

It could possibly be because bunnies are either sad or evil.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Austen-Jane/100002245814326 Austen Jane

Re first outfit: How old is she? ‘Cuz she seems a little old for this, at least as it is worn here.

Second outfit: Likey. And the shoes she has on are 8,000x better than the Queen Betty ones being held by the handler.

    Bag: Love want covet

  • BazoDee

Oh -the first one is an Urkle skirt!! I just want to yank it down 4″
The bunny dress is adorable. I personally would have loved a pop of color -preferably yellow. (Other than the purse /small suitcase she is carrying around.

  • Vickiefantastico

She looks terrific, but does her bad posture bother anyone else? Stand tall, darling, you’re a star!

  • SapphoPoet

Finally, a celebrity who understands that its summertime and is wearing summer clothing. Love the “Runaway Bunny” dress.

    • lovelyivy

Agreed. Points for her dressing like it’s a July in which most states are facing record heat and/or drought. The procession of heavy, long dresses, velvet items and black tights on red carpets the last few weeks has been ridiculous.

  • onyxkatze

Not loving either of these, but I can see the appeal.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Loving that first look.  That bunny dress is making me hot just looking at it.

  • sashaychante

FINALLY…someone in summer clothing.  I like both looks.  Is that the doorman, driver or some type of assistant carrying her spare shoes?  Wouldn’t it be great to be rich, and have an assistant to follow you around with a spare pair.

    • http://twitter.com/algaechick algaechick

You’d think she’d be able to cram the spare sandals into that massive bag.

    • SuzBald

And the spare pair look mad comfortable.  Much better for tripping about Manhattan.

  • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

dude.  never have i wanted a bunny outfit until now.

  • PastryGoddess

Love the bunny print dress.  I like the Carrie skirt in the longer style…maybe it’s just me

    • http://twitter.com/algaechick algaechick

      It’s not just you.

    • PinkLemon

Yes, she’s ruining it. The orig is waaaay better.

      • Tatiana Luján

The original doesn’t have an elastic waist and the fabric looks way pettier. I’m not even sure it is the same skirt.

        • PinkLemon

Yes, I noticed that too…I’d really like that Carrie skirt. The orig.

  • kimmeister

I like both looks, although I think the bag clashes horribly with the first one.

  • Ruth Kilby

I don’t get what they’ve done with that stripey skirt.  I mean apart from shortening it, in the model pic, the waist looks really smooth – like it fastens with a button or something.  On Jessica, it’s all bunched up and ruched – like it’s elasticated.  Seems a strange alteration to make(?)

  • http://twitter.com/CatTastic23 Rachel Berry

I want that Carolina Herrera dress just because it has rabbits on it.

  • DaveUWSNYC

    Why are bags so huge?

  • Judy_J

The skirt in the first set of photos looks entirely different from the runway version.  I don’t mean just the length.  The waistband on Jessica’s version looks like it was elasticized, and the hem looks unfinished, like the extra length was just cut off.  Cheapens the whole look.  The skirt sits at an odd place on her waist, too.  She looks 100% better in the second set of photos.

  • Introspective

This feels accessible and seasonally appropriate-only a slight notch above what many city girls are wearing right now in dressed down and dressed up situations.

im not overwhelmed by anything here, but its a pretty decent show.

  • crash1212

I would like a shoe valet please.

  • Lisa Dugan

She looks great and weather appropriate. The first look is adorable.

  • aristida_girl

    cute and cute again!

  • MilaXX

I thought the t was tucked in on the first shot & I saw her on The View yesterday. The shoe worked because she was in full on mommy/business woman mode.  I like both looks.

  • janetjb

Apparently Jess is a woman who could use an even larger bag.  I hope the sandals the doorman is handling are her comfortable shoes and the pumps are for show.

  • Sweetvegan

    Love the bunny print!

  • filmcricket

I can’t see a chunky heel like on that first sandal without immediately getting “Sweet Transvestite” in my head. Tim Curry’s platform sandal stomping the beat out below that cape still ranks as one of the best entrances in movie history, IMO.

    Bunnies. ::shudder::

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IEBOA5WAAIRKYXLALBIKMDFKKE abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

does she actually have a proper job?

    • MilaXX

She started a company for organic children toiletries (soaps, etc…). It’s apparently doing very well. google honest company or honest diapers

  • alyce1213

That Carolina Herrera bunny dress is just so sweet.  I don’t get to say that about many dresses.

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

I actually think the bag works better with the first look. Maybe it’s just because I hate that golden mustard color and it stands out a little less among all of the other colors in the first outfit?

  • quiltrx

I wish I had my own shoe-handler.  I would have auditions.

  • guest2visits

The first look is so tacky. The skirt was much nicer in the original. The loud shoes, the crappy jacket, I’ve seen this exact outfit at the laundrymat, more than once. And the mustard yellow bag just does not appeal to me in any way. I do love her shades.
The second look is really very pretty, but I’m not used to seeing her in something so quiet and understated.

  • RzYoung

I just love the big dude in the hat carrying her sandals :)

  • librarygrrl64

    1. I love grey and yellow together.
    2. I want that bag.
